Analysis Of Francois Truffaut And Alfred Hitchcock s Film...
Anyone who is even vaguely aware with film usually has a favorite director. Why? What distinguishes
one director from another? A director is the person who determines and realizes on the screen an
artistic vision of the screenplay; casts the actors and directs their performances; works closely with
production design in creating the look of the film...and in most cases, supervises all postproduction
activity, especially editing (Barsam and Monahan 496). Clearly, the director of a film is lead visionary
in how the film is made. But what makes some directors truly memorable and instantly recognizable?
Those directors take advantage of all different kinds creative possibilities and signatures to become the
true author of the film, also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the
camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious
suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes
very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable.
Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure
closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the
protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then
manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock
uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge
confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the
murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information
and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the
truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing
what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both

Adaptive Leadership Book Report
READING SUMMARY
PART TWO OF Part two of the Practice of Adaptive Leadership starts with the challenge of
diagnosing the system. The book shares that the evolution of institution in the past is the status quo of
today and that the organization has power over you to change you. In comparison, I thought about my
idea to provide staff support to staff when I begun working for profit hospice. I received approval to
buy birthday cards for team and after three months I was told that the $3 that I spent was expensive
and not to buy any more cards. I believe that my job was more important than $3 so I stop.
Additionally, the book transitions to the adaptive challenges for three of organization. The first group
is not for profit and the problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pastor and I met the police chief and designed a job description. The police chief visited the
church about a month later and noticed that a former employee of the police department that won a
civil case against the department was a member of the church. The chief of police decided not to hire
myself or the pastor because he believed that we would be loyal to the parishioner if litigation would
occur again with the parishioner.
Furthermore, the author shares that naming the losses and realizing the hidden alliances are necessity
in diagnosing a political system of an organization. In the example with the police chief I identify the
following losses to the police department: reputation, power, control, and righteousness. As far as
hidden alliances, I believe that we could have used the police chief past experiences with his pastor
and how the pastor is conflict mediator in order for the police chief to see that we would be impartial

Cinderella And The Little Glass Slipper
Cinderella is a well beloved folktale following the life of a kind hearted heroine trapped in an abusive
household, yet despite the obstacles faced, she manages to attend a ball and eventually receives her
happily ever after. The story has been reinterpreted in numerous countries where it is estimated that
there are nearly seven hundred versions out there. With the continuous popularity of Cinderella, there
has been much criticism concerning the representation of Cinderella and the effects it has on the
female demographic. By analyzing Cinderella s gender representation of a particular version in
accordance to generated criticism related to the effects it has on the female demographic, it can be
determined that as new renditions are being created over time, it can be noticed that Cinderella s
gender representation are gradually becoming more independent, and active.
Charles Perrault s Cinderella or The Little Glass Slipper was published in 1697. It is considered to be
one the most prevalent reinterpretations of the classic story. Perrault s version was addressed largely to
an adult and highly sophisticated audience (Cullen 57). For this reason, Perrault seldom emphasizes
the details of Cinderella s mistreatment and instead shifts the stories focus on the moral and
materialistic concerns related to his audience in order to to please [his] aristocratic audience (Tatar
189). Accordingly, Perrault portrayed Cinderella to be dependent, self sacrificing, and exhibits

Essay on Technology in the film Tron
Technology in the film Tron
Introduction
The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To
answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the
text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images
and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey
certain qualities of technology. In this research paper, I will begin by explaining the significance of
this project and my areas of research. I will then relay the focus of my investigation, the methods I
employed to gain my research, analyze the film, and discuss the implications of my analysis. ... Show

This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was
just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology
of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a
powerful force with destructive capabilities.
I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to
think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how
technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited
access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology
then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I
worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines
were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this
movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday
lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to
consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie

The Impact Of French Colonialism On Moroccan Identity
III. The Impact of French Colonialism on Moroccan Identity.
The Moroccan identity has faced a several challenges and seditions throughout history, which rebuilt
and traced the shape of modern Moroccan identity. Undoubtedly, the French colonialism is one of the
most threat of Moroccan identity. They tried hard to separate Morocco into two entities to serve their
colonial ambitions, in addition to the economic reasons and the exploitation of wealth, the French
colonial intention was blurring Moroccan identity. However, Stuart Hall distinguished between two
kinds of cultural identities, which we adapt to the Moroccan case.
 Collective Identity vs Unstable Identity:
The question of identity in Morocco, cannot be separated from history, it is formed and shaped with
the French colonization which becomes a part of Moroccan identity. However, Hall distinguished
between two distinctive kinds of identities. For him, the collective identity is the core that remains
after losing everything, stable, unchanging, and fixed. This defined by Hall as: ... in terms of one
shared culture, a sort of collective one true self , hiding inside the many other, more superficial or
artificially imposed selves , which people with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

New Pricing Strategies For East Cleveland Cable Tv
New Pricing Strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV
If we plan on being the provider of choice for cable services in East Cleveland, then we need to start
planning pricing strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV. We offer the same services in the area as our
competitors AT T Uverse, Direct TV, Dish, and Time Warner, but re setting our prices will draw new
customers and keep current resident cable services (Kotler Keller, 2012 pg.389). We do not want to
attract customers just for a period of time for promotional and discount prices, however; our prices
should be attractive without adding promotions and discounts.
Selecting A New Pricing Package for Cable Services:
Revisiting our pricing will help our cable company survive intense competition with our competitors
(Kotler Keller, 2012, pg.389). Cleveland is a large city within Ohio whereas East Cleveland is a just a
small fraction within the city of Cleveland. If we are going to survive and continue to grow as the
main cable service provider for the city locally, we are going to have to increase sales within East
Cleveland. Lower cost for the same services as our competitors will generate higher sales; maximizing
the market share brings a high demand.
Determining Demand:
How we calculate our prices will affect the impact we will have for sales and marketing. We will have
to look at the elasticity demand for our cable service because lowering cost will generate more total
revenues (Kotler Keller, 2012, pg.392). According

The Importance Of Student Disengagement From School
Understanding why students disengage from school is vital to future planning. Christenson, Sandra L,
Thurlow, Martha L, (2001) discuss the importance of engaging students throughout their schooling
experience. Their research shows that leaving school early is the outcome of a long process of
disengagement from school (Christenson et al., 2001). Indicators of student withdrawal include poor
attendance or unsuccessful school experiences such as academic or behavioural difficulties that often
begin in primary and middle school.
Christenson explains that School completion programs require a primary focus on student
engagement, particularly on finding ways to enhance students interest in and enthusiasm for school,
sense of belonging at school, motivation to learn, and progress in school, as well as the value they
place on school and learning (Christenson et al., 2001). Having an increase in student enrolments into
VET courses begs the question is VET catering to student s interest and enthusiasm and are traditional
school based subjects lacking in interest.
In the US Cook Deegan (2016), reports that high schools are unengaging and based on a hundred year
old model designed for a different era. The same could be said for high schools in Australia, as
curriculum and pedagogy are based on old models. US high schools are depressingly archaic,
reminiscent of giant factories or prisons, with block scheduling and teachers still lecturing to students

Descriptive Essay About Paris
Paris is like no other place on earth, its beauty is indescribable, the amount of famous structures is
astounding, and is attraction draws many tourists there every year. My experience touring Paris will
always be on of my favorite memories. Everywhere I looked, it was as if I was in a dream. There was
so much elegance in such simple structures it seemed unrealistic. Wherever I went, it seemed as if the
magnificence only grew with each passing step.
It all started with the most exhilarating train ride ever. It was about four hours long, and we were
going so fast that the world around me seemed non existent. The trees were whizzing by so quick that
I could hardly see what color they were. The food that was served melted in my mouth making me
want more with every bite. Although I never wanted the train to stop, nothing could ever compare to
what was awaiting my family and I when we stepped off the train. The aroma of the different types of
food from a variety of places coming together to make my mouth water. Seeing the bustling streets of
Paris filled with people as amazed as we were trying to take in the scenery that was so vast, it seemed
like years before we could visit it all. I was so excited to see what awaited us in the days to come.
Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower, standing next to such an amazing piece of art was a privilege as
well as intimidating. The Eiffel Tower is 1,063 feet tall making everything else around it seem
insignificant. My family and I waited in

of a convent. When she finds the original Father Damien s body after him drowning in a flood, she
decides to take on his identity and travel to Little No Horse, a settlement where she ministers a group
of Ojibwa Indians for almost 80 years. To truly be Father Damien, she learns to get rid of certain
behaviors that are common to women. In becoming a priest, Agnes must abandon her sexuality to

Persuasive Essay On Legalize Medical Marijuana
Many medically ill patients experience agonizing pain everyday that they can not easily control with
regular pain medicine, so what s the next best thing? There have been many recent cases where
medical patients have used medical marijuana for therapeutic uses and found that it had slowed the
progression of their disease or helped cure it. Medical marijuana has started to become more popular
with medical communities and researchers. Medical marijuana can affect many things in a positive
way such as financial situations and social aspects, while having benefits on medical illnesses.
Medical marijuana that does not contain the THC drug should be legalized in the United States
because it would provide therapeutic benefits without making the user feel high. The District of
Columbia and approximately thirty states have laws that allow some sort of medical marijuana use.
Since there is about half of the 50 states that have legalized medical marijuana it would be tough for
patients to travel to another state if it is not legalized through the United States. The United States
needs to legalize medical marijuana so that patients who are traveling to hospitals throughout the
country, such as the Mayo Clinic, do not need to worry about restrictions with their marijuana. If a
person traveling to the Mayo Clinic where to get pulled over, they could suffer great fines, or even
face jail time, because Minnesota might not support legalized medical marijuana. Changing the laws
would allow

The Great Plains Essay
Have you ever been in a place of green with forests and animals everywhere? Well, where some of the
Native Americans lived, there were such things. Native American tribes such as the Crow lived in the
Great Plains. The Crow tribe of the Great Plains were nomadic and followed the buffalo migrations
which provided their food. This tribe spent a good part of the year living in camps that could easily be
dismantled and moved to follow the buffalo migrations. Other tribes of the plains were more
sedentary. These tribes lived in permanent villages year round. The Great Plains are located between
the South and Midwest regions to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west. The Great Plains
Indians were dictated by climate, land, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the Native American Crow tribe members had died out because of low food supply or
fighting. But, most of the time the Native American tribes in the Grassy Plains did not have wars to
the death or extermination of a tribe. In the past time most tribes died but some survived and they
changed their way of life. For example, the Crow tribes may have set traps for animals rather than
sending out groups and risking village population. Some tribes may have become extinct because of
other villages raiding them and taking their land. Another reason for tribe extinction was disease after
the white invasion because the whites were exposed to and are immune to many diseases that the
Native Americans aren t. Therefore, many Native Americans have gotten sick and tribes have been
wiped out because of that.

Fantasy And Fantasy In Mulholland Drive
As we contrast the first part of the film with the second, it becomes evident that the first appears to be
all the more genuine, more in keeping with our expectations concerning reality. But this feeling of
reality results from the film s fantastic dimension rather than its realism. Where we usually contrast
fantasy with reality, Mulholland Drive underlines the connection between the two, portraying fantasy s
role in giving reality with the structure that it has. The film supports Lacan s claim that everything we
are allowed to approach by way of reality remains rooted in fantasy (Stavrakakis 62). Hence fantasy
should not be seen as opposed to reality because it is fantasy that sustains what we experience as
reality. This idea that fantasy supports our sense of reality is evident in Lost Highway and earlier
Lynch films, and he uses fantasy as a major category or theme in almost all of his films.
The movie creates a sense of mystery and a sense of basic uncertainty that we normally connect with
the element of desire. It uses darkness, threatening characters, ominous music and unusual editing
sequences, all of which represents desire in a manner very typical of Hollywood narrative style. Desire
is always associated with not knowing, posing questions that do not have answers, lack of narrative
elements and confusing irrational series of random events. As Lacan speaks about desire in Seminar
X, as long as I desire, I know nothing of what I desire (98). To depict this

An Open Mind As The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is another Comforter, Teacher, and Reminder. Before Christ went back to Heaven He
said that He would not leave us without another Comforter, of which is the Holy Ghost. God the Holy
Spirit, God the Father, and God the Son are a Trinity, in Heaven and on this earth. The Comforter
indwells us and we are in God and in Jesus. We are in the Trinity. Talk about eternal security, how
much more can one be secure than this?
Being the Holy Spirit is our Teacher, and the Word of God says He is, then that which is preached
should not be readily accepted. One should not build a doctrine on one or two verses of Scripture but
should study all verses on the subject with an open mind as the Holy Ghost teaches (II Timothy 2:15),.

Judgment will be revealed by the Holy Spirit because the prince (ruler) of the world is judged, which
is by the power of Christ who judged the old Devil and his kingdom, defeating Satan at the cross. The
Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and is most reliable. He is God in the office of the Holy Spirit.
He listens, hears, and will communicate and speak to the believer, showing future things, glorifying
Christ, and will show you the things of the Father. See John 16:7 15.
Much conjecture is found concerning John 20:22. The way I view this verse tells that Jesus breathed
on, not in, the disciples, and said Receive ye the Holy Ghost: receiving the Holy Ghost that gave
commandments unto them (Acts 1:2). They received the Holy Ghost outwardly as those in the Old
Testament did and for particular services till Pentecost, and there dwelt within. In Acts 1:5 they were
waiting for a different baptism than that of John s which they had already received. They were to be
baptized by the Holy Ghost who would dwell both with them and be in them (John 14:17), and receive
the power to equip them to preach the gospel to all nations throughout the world (Acts 1:8). When
Pentecost had fully come they received that recorded in Acts chapter two.

Analysis Of Highsmith Moved Into The Yaddo Artist s Retreat
In 1948, Highsmith moved into the Yaddo artist s retreat, a community which aims to to nurture the
creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive

and completely immersed herself in her writing. When not working on her novel, she was journaling.
Murder, she wrote, is a kind of making love, a kind of possessing. She described it as feeling quite

Highsmith, who was never exclusive with Brandel, resented having sex with him. However, despite
the repulsion she felt towards her partner, Patricia was determined to make it work. For six months,
Highsmith underwent psychoanalysis in an effort to regularize herself sexually so she could marry
Brandel (Schenkar 138 139). Although she withdrew from treatment, the psychological community
heavily impacted the outlook Highsmith had on her personal relationships in her life. This is
especially prevalent in regards to her sexuality. Strangers on a Train, Highsmith s first novel, deals
with both psychopathy and homosexuality. The main characters of this novel happen upon one another
during a chance encounter on a train. Guy, the protagonist, meets Bruno. Afterward, the two start
discussing the problems in their lives, and Guy spills his heart out to Bruno, for Bruno was not the
ordinary stranger on the train by any means. He was cruel and corrupt enough himself to appreciate a

other s life. Guy is disturbed by this idea, but Bruno is serious. At this point, Highsmith starts
developing the psychopathic buildup of Guy. Throughout the novel, Guy is shown to be a considerate,
caring man. At one point, he thinks the taste of Scotch, though Guy didn t much care for

Athens was an ancient city state in Greece. The city is located by the Aegean Sea, in Attica, Greece.
Athens is sometimes called: Birthplace of democracy.
Food Supply: Athens wasn t a great place for farming, but they did have lots of olives. They traded
goods, pottery and other stuff for more food, such as wheat.

Leading By Example
The greatest leaders of all time try to lead by example. I say try because it is impossible to entirely
lead by example at every moment. Due to the fact that everyone is different and views things
differently, it is very difficult to be a leader who everyone supports. Many leaders have partially lead
by example as much as they could, and have made huge impacts on the world because of the changes
they have made. But until there is a leader who everyone can support unanimously, it is impossible to
completely lead by example. There have been some amazing and successful leaders over the years, but
there has also been some very terrible and cynical leaders. Adolf Hitler believed he was leading by
example, and many people thought he was as well. He brutally murdered millions, and still many
believed he was leading by example which caused him to be able to start The Holocaust. It took a
Second World War for people to realize that he wasn t leading by example. He was leading in a ...

But throughout history we have had quite a few corruptive leaders, who acted as if they were leading

opinions people have, a true leader of example doesn t exist. Nobody is perfect, and nobody can lead
by example at every moment of their lives because everyone makes mistakes. Plus, there will always
be negative people in the world who try and blockade growth and change. It is good to try and lead by
example as much as possible, and I think any good leader knows that. Unanimous support, and
perfection is always going to be unreachable, but that is okay. As long as we are able to fight off
malicious leaders and continue to have strong and inspirational leaders then our world will continue to

Isaac s Storm Book Report
You wake up this morning get out bed trying to decide what to wear today. You check the weather app
on your phone and see that it will be sunny and warm outside with zero chance of rain. You throw on
your flip flops and shorts and head outside to begin your day. Weather can be quite predictable in this
day and age. High tech technology and decades of weather knowledge have allowed us to predict the
weather with great accuracy, but it was not always this way. Isaac Cline, a meteorologist for the U.S.
Weather Bureau failed to understand what was happening in Galveston before it was too late. On
September 8, 1900, no one was ready for what was about to happen to this prosperous port city. A
monster hurricane swept in and destroyed the city killing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wanting to maintain the prominent presence of weather forecasting, the Bureau took its orders from
the chief Willis L. Moore. Moore wanted the meteorologists to refrain from stirring up a public scare
in the event of a hurricane unless they were given permission to do so. Moore s arrogance became
known when they received a warning of a hurricane from Cuba. Cuba at the time was becoming quite
knowledgeable of hurricanes. Moore felt as they were no match for the technologically advanced
Weather Bureau so he halted telegraphs during the peak of hurricane season. Instead of listening to the
Cuban warnings and sounding the alarm, the Weather Bureau chose to remain silent. Isaac noticed
something was amiss when he noticed the swells of the ocean. Sadly by then it was too

Other functions include planning of strategic goals and making sure they come to fruition, controlling
budget, weighing effectiveness vs. efficiency, and dealing with employees, customers, and vendors. In
essence, there is no specific agenda that can be adhered to on a daily basis, as the environment of a
manager constantly changes. A customer fire drill could arise (Eshelman, 2011); a sudden change in
the organization, budgetary cuts, and so forth. A manager constantly has to be ready to change
direction and still produce results. A bulk of the daily work load is spent on managerial duties, such as

ensuring a natural flow of projects and operations. Two of the most critical managerial issues Mr.

Maltreatment Of Patients During Long Term Care Facilities
Maltreatment of Patients in Long Term Care Facilities Most of us know someone who were past or are
current patients in a long term care facility. Whether it be a nursing home or assisted living
establishment, a relative or a loved one is provided extensive care at these long term care facilities.
Now imagine if your grandparent or someone close to you was being abused or neglected while
residing in one of the many facilities across the globe. The maltreatment of patients is a significant
problem in long term care facilities. Any form of maltreatment can include neglect and abuse. These
behaviors can cause psychological and physical damage, and in extreme cases, death. This problem

Many of these problems towards elders are preventable, but some nurse aids fail to do their jobs. The
best solution for elderly abuse is prevention. Preventing abuse is one way to educate future residents
and victims of elder abuse about how to deal with this situation. There are many prevention programs
across the nation, but one in particular is known as The National Committee for the Prevention of
Elder Abuse (NCPEA). This association was established in the year 1988 to serve as information and
materials on abuse and neglect for older persons in long term care facilities. This committee s purpose
is to educate the public about neglect and abuse towards elders, to respond to the needs of victims, to
support and inform the rights of an individual, to strengthen emotions to those who are victims, and of
course to prevent any mistreatment before it occurs. Another problem that contributes to maltreatment
in long term care facilities are mental and physical abuse, malnutrition, and neglect. These effects may
include bone fractures, bed sores, dehydration, and in some severe cases, death. In a 1998 Time
Magazine article titled Shining a Light on Abuse , written by Mark Thompson, he highlights a
statement written by Leslie Olivia to the Senate Special Committee on Aging. In Olivia s statement

assertion is remembrance and honoring of the dead with the family and rebirth. The poem is about the
a father that plants a sequoia tree in honor of his recently deceased infant son. Gioia uses imagery in
the first few stanzas to emphasize the severity of the father and his families grief and despair. In these
sections he also reveals the setting of the poem which is Sicily and the reason he chose a sequoia tree.

This is significant because it emphasizes the melancholy and mournfulness that he depicts with
imagery in the first stanza. Later on in the second stanza, he author describes the tree the narrator
would have planted as a green sapling rising among the twisted apple boughs . The author uses visual
color imagery of the color green to describe the sapling in order to emphasize just how young the
newborn was when he died. Later on in the poem, the narrator speaks of himself and his brothers
kneeling in front of the newly plated tree. The fact that they are kneeling represents respect for the
deceased. When the narrator mentions that the weather is cold it is a reference back to the first stanza
when he says of an old year coming to an end . Later on in the third stanza the author writes all that
remains above earth of a first born son which means that the deceased child has been buried. They
also compare the child to the size of a few stray atoms to emphasize that he was an infant. All of these
symbols and comparisons to are significant because they are tied to the central assertion of
remembrance and honoring of the dead with the family and rebirth. Furthermore, the last two stanzas
are more personal in the sense of how the narrator speaks. The word we is used many times in these
last two stanzas, more than the first three. In all five of the stanzas, the word we was used as the

Charles Manson s Influence On Society
In almost all lists of famous serial killers, probably the most mentioned among them all is Charles
Manson. With more than 35 documented killings and a cult of disciple murderers, Manson has become
the living embodiment that the devil walks on earth. But what has made this troubled youth into one of
America s feared monsters?
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934. Named Charles Milles Maddox, he was born and
raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a teenage mom, Kathleen Maddox. His alcoholic and prostitute mother
soon married William Manson but the marriage was short lived. His mother did not want anything to
do with the boy and this pushed him to live on the streets and fend for himself. Pretty soon, Charles
turned to petty crime to survive. By the time he was in his late teens, Charles was introduced to a life
in prison.
Charles met a girl in 1955 whom he married and brought with him to California. There, she became
pregnant and Charles was back into his life of petty crimes leading him to another time in prison in
1956. The young wife eventually left him after a year. After being released, Charles turned to other
crimes such as pimping, using stolen checks and conning a woman of her money. While on probation,
he met a prostitute Candy Stevens, who bore him a second child. By 1960, he was arrested for his
crimes and was sent to a Washington penitentiary.
In prison, troubles never escaped Charles. He once raped a fellow male inmate and he was considered

Deaf Culture Essay
Deaf Culture in America

Dr. David Weischadle
April 19,2013
Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to answer the major question, what is Deaf culture? There are
three sub questions that will assist in answering the major question: (1) What constitutes Deaf culture?
(2) How has American Sign Language impacted the Deaf community? (3) What are the major issues
that are being addressed in Deaf culture today? With these questions answer, it will give a better
understanding as to what Deaf culture is and that it is indeed a culture.

There are also questions that arise such as, what constitutes Deaf culture? There are two other
questions that are very important into explaining the importance of Deaf culture, which is, how has
ASL (American Sign Language) impacted the Deaf community and what are the major issues that are
being addressed in Deaf culture today? This topic is very important to me because I was raised in the
Deaf culture. My entire family is Deaf and have faced many of these questions that hearing people are
unaware about. I feel that it is my job to educate when I have the chance to do so. By being able to
educate at least one person, I have done my job. I do not think there is enough information out there to
reach everyone s awareness of Deaf culture. While investigating this topic I will be trying to ask at
least 30 50 people; Deaf and hearing, about what they think Deaf culture is. I am very curious as to
how many understand Deaf culture and how many Deaf people actually know what Deaf culture is.
Deaf culture has been suppressed for many years that even the Deaf people might not know what
really makes up Deaf culture. I also what to get the Deaf people s take on what they think are the
major issues that are being dealt with today and also how they think ASL has impacted their
communities (History). I know that everyone will have a different take on these two questions and it is
always interesting to see the different answers. I

A Car In NASCAR
If you have ever wondered how the cars in NASCAR are so fast, it s the tech that is in them. In every
NASCAR race car, is a piece of machinery that has been worked on for hours. Mechanics of every
NASCAR team work for hundreds of hours building engines, making adjustments, building the roll
cage, and getting stock parts. The cars are worked on throughout the entire week, because the crews
have to go through the car and see if they had missed anything that they were supposed to fix or
adjust. If they don t do that, the driver will talk about how the car is running and feeling. The cars are
modified to be able to run on the tracks that they are going to run on. Most of these cars need a lot of
adjustments to they run perfectly without any problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The engines in the racecars of NASCAR are way more different. They have more horsepower, more
torque, and a lot more power. According to popularmechanics.com, the engines in Nascar Sprint Cup
cars are 90 degree pushrod V8s, just like those that have powered many vehicles on American roads
for more than 50 years. But today, the engine under Jimmie Johnson s hood is a custom made 850 hp
358 cubic inch thoroughbred that s optimized to run flat out for no more than 1000 miles. See most
street car engines have about 400 to 500 horsepower. Engines in NASCAR have different valve trains,
engine blocks, and a different lubrication system. Those make the engines more powerful. The tires in
NASCAR are also very different. For one thing, the tires are filled with nitrogen instead of air. That
makes the tire wider, and much more harder to pop. They also have a treadless design on them so they
get more grip on a dryer track. If they raced on wet tracks, the tires won t get traction from the track
and will spin out. That is why NASCAR stops the races if it rains. So even if the engines don t really
evolve, they still may run on them, but most teams make new engines before every

Still In The Dark Silent Movie Audience By Gregg Bachman...
After reading the article Still in the Dark Silent Movie Audiences by Gregg Bachman, the experiences
of movie goers helped me understand how people watched or experienced movies when it first started
out. For instance, one person said You felt part of it; you became part of the picture with what was
taking place. We were part of the picture (pg. 121) meaning that as a movie goer you felt the emotion
or action of the film. This emotion still holds true, when I go watch a movie, I always feel the emotion
of the characters throughout out the film. For instance, when I was watching, the film 13 Hours, a
movie about the secret soldiers of Benghazi, the level of emotion throughout the film was high
because the soldiers were trying to survive and keep others safe while risking their own life s. I think
that when men and women go to movies today, it is more acceptable to show your emotions even
though it was entirely accepted in the past. Admittedly, when going to the movies it was seen as the
highlight of the week because you would do anything just go see a movie on a Saturday or Sunday

Mesozoic Vertebrates
Mesozoic vertebrates of Texas have received less attention than Paleozoic. In the early 1900s E. C.
Case collected and reported amphibians and reptiles found in Triassic sediments along the eastern
edge of the High Plains, and Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University has also made important
discoveries there. Notable are skeletons of phytosaurs. These aquatic reptiles, up to thirty feet in
length, had elongated snouts armed with thick, sharply pointed teeth. Their habits were probably much
like those of modern crocodiles. Some lightly armored forms were not unlike crocodiles in
appearance, except for their long, hook nosed snouts, but some armored types of phytosaurs may have
looked almost like arthropods. Through work centered at the University of Texas at Austin, parts of
the Trans Pecos region have yielded important fossils of Cretaceous reptiles, among them enormous
crocodiles and the largest known pterosaur. Much of Central Texas probably contains bones of
Cretaceous vertebrates, but the land is so heavily vegetated that discoveries are few. However, remains
of dinosaurs, plesiosaurs, and even primitive mammals have been found and are preserved at the
University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. Fossil vertebrates, especially mammals, of the

Semiotics, Authorship and Viewers are all producers of meaning. These critical terms/parts of visual
culture are important in understanding the signs of the particular cultural context. Semiotics is a
critical part that provides important tools for understanding meaning of things. These mediums
include images, film and television among others. These mediums can all be decoded in a variety of

semiotics is the central understanding of culture as a signifying practice. This is the work of creating

2. Looking is active. Looking involves relationships of power, i.e. spectatorship /the gaze/ power and

Looking at a particular image is an active process and this was certainly proved in the text.
Furthermore, looking involves different relationships of power. Spectatorship provides a deeper
understanding of looking. This process is enacted in most interactive, multimodal, and relational
fields. To understand spectatorship, it is important to understand the concept of the gaze. Different
visual theorists to emphasize the embeddedness of the gaze have used the term the gaze in specific
ways. The term gaze is to enter into a relational activity of looking. The concept of the gaze plays a
central role in theories of spectatorship in modernity. The concepts of

opinions will vary dramatically. Are women seen as equal to man? Are women independent or

Bible, women are spoken about quite a bit. In Genesis, man and woman are created, in Proverbs, the

Adam and Eve, probably, both were gardeners/farmers of the Garden of Eden. They didn t have
children yet and there was no other human being or other job on the earth. One did not do a more
masculine or feminine job than the other, they were equal. Another item of note; before Adam and Eve
ate the fruit of knowledge, they both had no idea that they were naked. They did not know there was a
right and wrong, they couldn t get embarrassed, or jealous, or angry. They were innocent. Adam wasn
t the only one innocent or naked, Eve was as well. God didn t give more knowledge to Adam than
Eve, they were given equal amount of knowledge and responsibility. That was the only time that
human beings were perfectly equal. The only reason for that, of course, was because it was before they
ate from the tree of knowledge. After that, mankind was born into the knowledge of embarrassment,
anger, jealousy, pride, and inequality. The definition of equality is, the state of being equal, especially
in status, rights, and opportunities. When looking at the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve were equal in
status, rights, and opportunities. Soon after Eve was created, Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge and

Technology And The Impact Of Technology
In recent years, two major aspects in technology have been steadily increasing in quantity of product
to optimize user consumer needs as well as their personalization. Through the Internet Of Things ,
technology corporates and manages information that the users go through in day to day experiences
with the help of Web 3.0 interactivity. Technology first changed the face of commercial marketing
with the use of online shopping. The internet allows for the user to buy their personal necessities
without leaving the comfort of their homes through the mobile marketing of websites and package
delivery. Take into consideration the near holiday event of cyber monday that follows the Black Friday
sales. While benefiting businesses through the platform of Ecommerce, online shopping proposes the
issue of job replacements and store discontinuations. Besides the modern desktop computer,
innovations such as mobile devices facilitate the methods of shopping. Smartphones forge the
versatility of banking and mobile purchasing using the interconnectivity of near field communications
(NFC) that opens opportunities of online transactions through the applications on mobile devices.
Technology s second commercial outbreak began with in the early 1970s with the inventions of digital
wristwatches and evolve to to popularized fitness trackers. Wearable technology, captures the essence
of minute shortcuts to lifestyle communications of the average individual. Following the mobile

Tobias Wolff s The Rich Brother
Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk
(Susan Scarf Merrell). Merrell, an American author and a creative writing and literature teacher at
Stony Brook Southampton, states that since the early days of your youth to the end of our story our
siblings are there throughout our whole journey. Life is similar to a play; parents pass away during the
first half; while one s children come in during the second half; but siblings are there throughout both
acts. Tobias Wolff s, The Rich Brother, portrays the relationship between two brothers that are
complete opposites; yet they know each other s strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else will
ever be able. The Rich Brother describes a complex sibling relationship that is fairly common in today
s society; Tobias Wolff makes use of pathos by incorporating real life sibling abuse; and ethos in his
own life and credentials. Pathos, according to merriam webster.com, is defined as an element in
experience or in artistic representation evoking pity or compassion . The Rich Brother uses this appeal
to grasp the heart strings of its audience; to have compassion and/or pity towards the brothers. As
author Tobias Wolff states in this piece, Do you remember when you used to try to kill me? ...Is that

Lessons Learned Report On Iranian Culture

Abstract
This paper shows cultural differences between Iranians, Chinese and Indians in business negotiations
based on interviews with three businessmen: an American citizen who set up a general trading
company in China, an Iranian Canadian citizen who has a trading company in Iran, and an Indian
America who set up a business in India. The interview questions focused on cultural elements based
on Hofstede s research: power distance, low high context, and general business behavior in these
countries.
Lessons Learned Report
Knowledge of other cultures is one of the keys to being successful in business dealings. This paper
reports on real experiences in cross cultural business interactions from three different perspectives. I
interviewed three successful businessmen, one who worked with Iranians, one with Chinese, and one
with Indians. I interviewed them independently, and my questions covered four different elements:
cultural behavior in business negotiations, management as symbol of high power distance in the
companies, knowledge of high context or low context culture, and finally knowledge of each of
culture to have better business negotiation in future.

Bureaucracy In The Military
The military is not a bureaucracy in and of itself, but contains bureaucracy. In fact, it is around 90%
bureaucracy, by pure manpower numbers. Let me come back to that.
A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any
person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural
firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I
am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design
work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a
secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on

NOT beholden to the ruling party (everyone has political preferences, but we do not want the
bureaucracy to be politically motivated). We want the rules to be followed objectively, so you can t tell
food processing plant A that their process is unsafe or unhealthy, but plant B can use that process just
because your brother, cousin, friend, or whomever, works there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to
sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want
oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being
administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. All these
things mean we have to hire people whose job is something other than the primary function of
government, so we have layers of bureaucracy providing oversight, buffers, checks, and

Cooking Is The Art And Science Of Cooking
Introduction:
Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat . It includes full
range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish,
and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals.
Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in
forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat.
However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the
Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot
embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat
rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were
made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction
of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of
boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were
added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Greece relies heavily on fish and sea food. Meat plays an important role as it is often used as an
ingredient in vegetables dishes instead of as a main dish. When talking about the ingredients, Greece
ingredients tend to be sourced locally also regionally based. Olive oil is typical Greek seasoning used
universally. Which is popular as olives are harvested and eaten all over the Greece. (Sbs.com.au,

stifado, and sweet, such as sticky baklava, dishes. Basil is prolific during the summer as it grows

BART Shooting Research Paper
Johannes Mehserle unintentionally shot and killed Oscar Grant. He was on duty as a train officer for
BART transportation and was on alert for those who had celebrated New Year s Eve. The shooting
occurred at the Fruitvale train station on January 1st, 2009. At the station, a fight broke out in one of
the trains and when the train stopped the fight started again outside of the train at one of the stops.
While they were fighting on the train the BART officers were called. The officers came and arrested
everyone that was in the fight. A guy named Oscar Grant was in the fight and was also arrested
(Meyer). While Grant was being arrested by Officer Mehserle, he resisted the officer s attempts. Since
Grant was resisting he was pushed onto the ground on his stomach to be handcuffed. Johannes
Mehserle was having trouble handcuffing Grant so the other BART officers helped him. When Grant
was on the ground Mehserle was going to tase him since he would not stop resisting. When Mehserle
thought he pulled out his TASER, he instead pulled out his gun. Mehserle accidentally shot Grant with
his gun since he thought he pulled out his TASER (Bulwa). Mehserle used his gun instead of his
TASER on accident. There could be many reasons as to why he thought he pulled out his TASER
instead of his gun. One reason is because there are days when officers change their holsters and the
items that are in their holsters. One day the TASER could be on one side and the next day it could be
on the other

The Symbolism of the Purse in Theft by Katherine Anne Porter
The purse in Katherine Anne Porters short story, Theft , is linked to several episodes and in each event
reveals the main character s inner personality. The first episode is her encounters with three men. The
second event is the theft of her purse. Lastly, the protagonist confronts the thief. In each episode the
main character displays her intimate personality.
After an afternoon cocktail party, a Latin man named Camilo escorts her to the subway station through
the rain. Camilo makes several gracious gestures to try and pay for her, but she refuses, as she is afraid
he may fall on the rainy steps when returning. She states that he made an effort to small courtesies but
ignored the larger and more troublesome ones. Here we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She then makes reference to a letter that had made her mind up for her. This indicates that she knows
she is indecisive. Roger comments on her beautiful purse and she responds that is was a birthday
present and that she likes it. Here we see she is proud to own something that someone else admires.
Her third encounter is with a man with whom she wrote an act for one of his plays. He complains
about his financial situation and shows her the new rug he bought. She then starts thinking of her
empty purse and how he owes her fifty dollars for the act she wrote for him. He downplays her writing
and says her stuff was no better than mine, and she says, let it go. Later we see that she is used to
letting things go.
The next event is the theft of her purse. While she is in the bathtub the janitress knocks and comes in,
needing to inspect the radiators. When she gets out of the bathtub to get a cigarette from her purse, it is
gone. She knows that the janitress has taken the purse. Her purse made of gold cloth symbolizes all
property. The purse represents the difference between the haves and the have nots. As she is going
over whether or not to confront the thief she thinks it would cause a great deal of ridiculous
excitement. She again decides to let it go.
With let it go in mind, one may believe that blew the lid off the kettle. She decides to confront the
thief and when the janitress

  • 2. Analysis Of Francois Truffaut And Alfred Hitchcock s Film... Anyone who is even vaguely aware with film usually has a favorite director. Why? What distinguishes one director from another? A director is the person who determines and realizes on the screen an artistic vision of the screenplay; casts the actors and directs their performances; works closely with production design in creating the look of the film...and in most cases, supervises all postproduction activity, especially editing (Barsam and Monahan 496). Clearly, the director of a film is lead visionary in how the film is made. But what makes some directors truly memorable and instantly recognizable? Those directors take advantage of all different kinds creative possibilities and signatures to become the true author of the film, also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alfred Hitchcock also used cinematography in a uniquely stylizing way. Hitchcock not only uses the camera to create dramatic irony, but he also uses the camera to lie to the audience and create anxious suspense. For example, in his film Psycho, when Marion is in the shower Hitchcock frames the scenes very tightly. Marion is in a confined and very personal space. This makes her incredibly vulnerable. Then Hitchcock heightens the suspense by creating dramatic irony with the reveal of a shadowy figure closing in on Marion, unbeknownst to her. This creates a lot of anxiety for the audience, knowing the protagonist is vulnerable and in danger with no way of altering the inevitable. Hitchcock then manipulates the audience by revealing a brief silhouette of an old lady as our shower killer. Hitchcock uses this reveal to lie to the audience, he makes the audience think they have more inside knowledge confirming their already growing suspicions, when in reality the audience is misled entirely and the murderer was Norman all along. The way Hitchcock uses the camera to reveal both inside information and misleading information truly keeps the viewer engaged and not knowing what to believe until the truth is finally revealed. By using this unique technique of controlling the audience by only showing what he wants you to see, Hitchcock masterfully defies expectations and creates suspense. Both ... To answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey certain qualities of technology. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a powerful force with destructive capabilities. I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie ... The Moroccan identity has faced a several challenges and seditions throughout history, which rebuilt and traced the shape of modern Moroccan identity. Undoubtedly, the French colonialism is one of the most threat of Moroccan identity. They tried hard to separate Morocco into two entities to serve their colonial ambitions, in addition to the economic reasons and the exploitation of wealth, the French colonial intention was blurring Moroccan identity. • 11. The Importance Of Student Disengagement From School Understanding why students disengage from school is vital to future planning. Christenson, Sandra L, Thurlow, Martha L, (2001) discuss the importance of engaging students throughout their schooling experience. Their research shows that leaving school early is the outcome of a long process of disengagement from school (Christenson et al., 2001). Indicators of student withdrawal include poor attendance or unsuccessful school experiences such as academic or behavioural difficulties that often begin in primary and middle school. Christenson explains that School completion programs require a primary focus on student engagement, particularly on finding ways to enhance students interest in and enthusiasm for school, sense of belonging at school, motivation to learn, and progress in school, as well as the value they place on school and learning (Christenson et al., 2001). Having an increase in student enrolments into VET courses begs the question is VET catering to student s interest and enthusiasm and are traditional school based subjects lacking in interest. In the US Cook Deegan (2016), reports that high schools are unengaging and based on a hundred year old model designed for a different era. The same could be said for high schools in Australia, as curriculum and pedagogy are based on old models. • 12. Descriptive Essay About Paris Paris is like no other place on earth, its beauty is indescribable, the amount of famous structures is astounding, and is attraction draws many tourists there every year. My experience touring Paris will always be on of my favorite memories. Everywhere I looked, it was as if I was in a dream. There was so much elegance in such simple structures it seemed unrealistic. Wherever I went, it seemed as if the magnificence only grew with each passing step. It all started with the most exhilarating train ride ever. It was about four hours long, and we were going so fast that the world around me seemed non existent. The trees were whizzing by so quick that I could hardly see what color they were. The food that was served melted in my mouth making me want more with every bite. Although I never wanted the train to stop, nothing could ever compare to what was awaiting my family and I when we stepped off the train. The aroma of the different types of food from a variety of places coming together to make my mouth water. Seeing the bustling streets of Paris filled with people as amazed as we were trying to take in the scenery that was so vast, it seemed like years before we could visit it all. I was so excited to see what awaited us in the days to come. Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower, standing next to such an amazing piece of art was a privilege as well as intimidating. The Eiffel Tower is 1,063 feet tall making everything else around it seem insignificant. My family and I waited in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Legalize Medical Marijuana Many medically ill patients experience agonizing pain everyday that they can not easily control with regular pain medicine, so what s the next best thing? There have been many recent cases where medical patients have used medical marijuana for therapeutic uses and found that it had slowed the progression of their disease or helped cure it. Medical marijuana has started to become more popular with medical communities and researchers. Medical marijuana can affect many things in a positive way such as financial situations and social aspects, while having benefits on medical illnesses. Medical marijuana that does not contain the THC drug should be legalized in the United States because it would provide therapeutic benefits without making the user feel high. The District of Columbia and approximately thirty states have laws that allow some sort of medical marijuana use. Since there is about half of the 50 states that have legalized medical marijuana it would be tough for patients to travel to another state if it is not legalized through the United States. The United States needs to legalize medical marijuana so that patients who are traveling to hospitals throughout the country, such as the Mayo Clinic, do not need to worry about restrictions with their marijuana. If a person traveling to the Mayo Clinic where to get pulled over, they could suffer great fines, or even face jail time, because Minnesota might not support legalized medical marijuana. Native American tribes such as the Crow lived in the Great Plains. The Crow tribe of the Great Plains were nomadic and followed the buffalo migrations which provided their food. This tribe spent a good part of the year living in camps that could easily be dismantled and moved to follow the buffalo migrations. Other tribes of the plains were more sedentary. These tribes lived in permanent villages year round. The Great Plains are located between the South and Midwest regions to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west. Most of the Native American Crow tribe members had died out because of low food supply or fighting. But, most of the time the Native American tribes in the Grassy Plains did not have wars to the death or extermination of a tribe. In the past time most tribes died but some survived and they changed their way of life. For example, the Crow tribes may have set traps for animals rather than sending out groups and risking village population. Some tribes may have become extinct because of other villages raiding them and taking their land. Another reason for tribe extinction was disease after the white invasion because the whites were exposed to and are immune to many diseases that the Native Americans aren t. Therefore, many Native Americans have gotten sick and tribes have been wiped out because of that. • 17. Fantasy And Fantasy In Mulholland Drive As we contrast the first part of the film with the second, it becomes evident that the first appears to be all the more genuine, more in keeping with our expectations concerning reality. But this feeling of reality results from the film s fantastic dimension rather than its realism. Where we usually contrast fantasy with reality, Mulholland Drive underlines the connection between the two, portraying fantasy s role in giving reality with the structure that it has. The film supports Lacan s claim that everything we are allowed to approach by way of reality remains rooted in fantasy (Stavrakakis 62). Hence fantasy should not be seen as opposed to reality because it is fantasy that sustains what we experience as reality. This idea that fantasy supports our sense of reality is evident in Lost Highway and earlier Lynch films, and he uses fantasy as a major category or theme in almost all of his films. The movie creates a sense of mystery and a sense of basic uncertainty that we normally connect with the element of desire. It uses darkness, threatening characters, ominous music and unusual editing sequences, all of which represents desire in a manner very typical of Hollywood narrative style. Desire is always associated with not knowing, posing questions that do not have answers, lack of narrative elements and confusing irrational series of random events. As Lacan speaks about desire in Seminar X, as long as I desire, I know nothing of what I desire (98). To depict this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way I view this verse tells that Jesus breathed on, not in, the disciples, and said Receive ye the Holy Ghost: receiving the Holy Ghost that gave commandments unto them (Acts 1:2). They received the Holy Ghost outwardly as those in the Old Testament did and for particular services till Pentecost, and there dwelt within. In Acts 1:5 they were waiting for a different baptism than that of John s which they had already received. They were to be baptized by the Holy Ghost who would dwell both with them and be in them (John 14:17), and receive the power to equip them to preach the gospel to all nations throughout the world (Acts 1:8). This topic is very important to me because I was raised in the Deaf culture. My entire family is Deaf and have faced many of these questions that hearing people are unaware about. I feel that it is my job to educate when I have the chance to do so. By being able to educate at least one person, I have done my job. I do not think there is enough information out there to reach everyone s awareness of Deaf culture. While investigating this topic I will be trying to ask at least 30 50 people; Deaf and hearing, about what they think Deaf culture is. I am very curious as to how many understand Deaf culture and how many Deaf people actually know what Deaf culture is. Deaf culture has been suppressed for many years that even the Deaf people might not know what really makes up Deaf culture. I also what to get the Deaf people s take on what they think are the major issues that are being dealt with today and also how they think ASL has impacted their communities (History). I know that everyone will have a different take on these two questions and it is always interesting to see the different answers. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. A Car In NASCAR If you have ever wondered how the cars in NASCAR are so fast, it s the tech that is in them. In every NASCAR race car, is a piece of machinery that has been worked on for hours. Mechanics of every NASCAR team work for hundreds of hours building engines, making adjustments, building the roll cage, and getting stock parts. The cars are worked on throughout the entire week, because the crews have to go through the car and see if they had missed anything that they were supposed to fix or adjust. If they don t do that, the driver will talk about how the car is running and feeling. The cars are modified to be able to run on the tracks that they are going to run on. Most of these cars need a lot of adjustments to they run perfectly without any problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The engines in the racecars of NASCAR are way more different. They have more horsepower, more torque, and a lot more power. According to popularmechanics.com, the engines in Nascar Sprint Cup cars are 90 degree pushrod V8s, just like those that have powered many vehicles on American roads for more than 50 years. But today, the engine under Jimmie Johnson s hood is a custom made 850 hp 358 cubic inch thoroughbred that s optimized to run flat out for no more than 1000 miles. See most street car engines have about 400 to 500 horsepower. Engines in NASCAR have different valve trains, engine blocks, and a different lubrication system. Those make the engines more powerful. The tires in NASCAR are also very different. For one thing, the tires are filled with nitrogen instead of air. That makes the tire wider, and much more harder to pop. They also have a treadless design on them so they get more grip on a dryer track. If they raced on wet tracks, the tires won t get traction from the track and will spin out. That is why NASCAR stops the races if it rains. So even if the engines don t really evolve, they still may run on them, but most teams make new engines before every ... After reading the article Still in the Dark Silent Movie Audiences by Gregg Bachman, the experiences of movie goers helped me understand how people watched or experienced movies when it first started out. For instance, one person said You felt part of it; you became part of the picture with what was taking place. We were part of the picture (pg. 121) meaning that as a movie goer you felt the emotion or action of the film. This emotion still holds true, when I go watch a movie, I always feel the emotion of the characters throughout out the film. For instance, when I was watching, the film 13 Hours, a movie about the secret soldiers of Benghazi, the level of emotion throughout the film was high because the soldiers were trying to survive and keep others safe while risking their own life s. I think that when men and women go to movies today, it is more acceptable to show your emotions even though it was entirely accepted in the past. Admittedly, when going to the movies it was seen as the highlight of the week because you would do anything just go see a movie on a Saturday or Sunday night. • 35. Mesozoic Vertebrates Mesozoic vertebrates of Texas have received less attention than Paleozoic. In the early 1900s E. C. Case collected and reported amphibians and reptiles found in Triassic sediments along the eastern edge of the High Plains, and Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University has also made important discoveries there. Notable are skeletons of phytosaurs. These aquatic reptiles, up to thirty feet in length, had elongated snouts armed with thick, sharply pointed teeth. Their habits were probably much like those of modern crocodiles. Some lightly armored forms were not unlike crocodiles in appearance, except for their long, hook nosed snouts, but some armored types of phytosaurs may have looked almost like arthropods. Through work centered at the University of Texas at Austin, parts of the Trans Pecos region have yielded important fossils of Cretaceous reptiles, among them enormous crocodiles and the largest known pterosaur. Much of Central Texas probably contains bones of Cretaceous vertebrates, but the land is so heavily vegetated that discoveries are few. However, remains of dinosaurs, plesiosaurs, and even primitive mammals have been found and are preserved at the University of Texas and Southern Methodist University. Looking involves relationships of power, i.e. spectatorship /the gaze/ power and visual knowledge. What is meant by this and what is an example? Looking at a particular image is an active process and this was certainly proved in the text. Furthermore, looking involves different relationships of power. Spectatorship provides a deeper understanding of looking. This process is enacted in most interactive, multimodal, and relational fields. To understand spectatorship, it is important to understand the concept of the gaze. Different visual theorists to emphasize the embeddedness of the gaze have used the term the gaze in specific ways. Another item of note; before Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge, they both had no idea that they were naked. They did not know there was a right and wrong, they couldn t get embarrassed, or jealous, or angry. They were innocent. Adam wasn t the only one innocent or naked, Eve was as well. God didn t give more knowledge to Adam than Eve, they were given equal amount of knowledge and responsibility. That was the only time that human beings were perfectly equal. The only reason for that, of course, was because it was before they ate from the tree of knowledge. Merrell, an American author and a creative writing and literature teacher at Stony Brook Southampton, states that since the early days of your youth to the end of our story our siblings are there throughout our whole journey. Life is similar to a play; parents pass away during the first half; while one s children come in during the second half; but siblings are there throughout both acts. Tobias Wolff s, The Rich Brother, portrays the relationship between two brothers that are complete opposites; yet they know each other s strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else will ever be able. The Rich Brother describes a complex sibling relationship that is fairly common in today s society; Tobias Wolff makes use of pathos by incorporating real life sibling abuse; and ethos in his own life and credentials. Pathos, according to merriam webster.com, is defined as an element in experience or in artistic representation evoking pity or compassion . The Rich Brother uses this appeal to grasp the heart strings of its audience; to have compassion and/or pity towards the brothers. • 41. Bureaucracy In The Military The military is not a bureaucracy in and of itself, but contains bureaucracy. In fact, it is around 90% bureaucracy, by pure manpower numbers. Let me come back to that. A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We want the rules to be followed objectively, so you can t tell food processing plant A that their process is unsafe or unhealthy, but plant B can use that process just because your brother, cousin, friend, or whomever, works there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. It includes full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. BART Shooting Research Paper Johannes Mehserle unintentionally shot and killed Oscar Grant. He was on duty as a train officer for BART transportation and was on alert for those who had celebrated New Year s Eve. The shooting occurred at the Fruitvale train station on January 1st, 2009. At the station, a fight broke out in one of the trains and when the train stopped the fight started again outside of the train at one of the stops. While they were fighting on the train the BART officers were called. The officers came and arrested everyone that was in the fight. A guy named Oscar Grant was in the fight and was also arrested (Meyer). While Grant was being arrested by Officer Mehserle, he resisted the officer s attempts. Since Grant was resisting he was pushed onto the ground on his stomach to be handcuffed. Johannes Mehserle was having trouble handcuffing Grant so the other BART officers helped him. When Grant was on the ground Mehserle was going to tase him since he would not stop resisting. When Mehserle thought he pulled out his TASER, he instead pulled out his gun. Mehserle accidentally shot Grant with his gun since he thought he pulled out his TASER (Bulwa). Mehserle used his gun instead of his TASER on accident. There could be many reasons as to why he thought he pulled out his TASER instead of his gun. One reason is because there are days when officers change their holsters and the items that are in their holsters. One day the TASER could be on one side and the next day it could be on the other ...
