Rock And Roll Of The 1960 S
Dr. Roessner
Reading Rock Roll
11/21/16
Pet Sounds vs. SGT Pepper Rock and Roll in the 1960 s was a very memorable decade. Rock and
roll music went through a very dramatic transformation; A few bands went through some changes
of their own to keep selling albums. Two very popular bands that went through a transformation was
the Beach Boys and the Beatles. I bring up these two well known bands because I believe that they
played a key role in the transformation of rock and roll. Rock and roll would not be the same
today without these two remarkable bands. Between the Beach Boys and the Beatles, I guess
someone could say that there was a little bit of friction. This was because when the Beach Boys
debuted in 1961 they were known as Americas favorite band, until The Beatles came to the states
in 1964. The Beatles brought something new with them when they crossed the Atlantic Ocean
from England, and this was just the beginning of something new. This friction between the Beach
Boys and The Beatles is what started a beautiful transformation of music in the rock and roll
world, and it all started with the albums Pet Sounds and SGT Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Some background on these two bands and where they came from. In 1961 The Beach Boys were
born. The band was made up of five men Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston,
and Al Jardine. Brian was the brains of the band and his imaginative ambitions and songwriting
aptitudes eventually

Dating Earth And A Theory Of Plate Tectonics
The article discusses Dating Earth and a theory of plate tectonics. In the beginning, the scientists
community was divided into two parts, where one part supported Christian believes about the
universal flood that was a proof of an existence of God and another group of scientists who rejected
theories of Catastrophism. The early geologist, В«catastrophistsВ», believed that В«catastrophic
events in the past determined the geologyof the Earth.В» In that time because of the lack of
evidence catastrophists were not taken seriously enough. An alternative theory was called
В«uniformitarianismВ» and a main idea is that the Earth is timeworn. According to the article,
there were three main theories which were doubted, such as a continental draft, the giant meteor
that killed the dinosaurs, and catastrophic flooding in the Channeled Scablands.... Show more

The theory explained how continents move and change their positions on the Earth. One of the
evidence was those rock formations and fossils from different continents were similar. Wegener
was not a professional geologist, but against any disbelieves he could prove that this theory of
Catastrophism is not a fairy tale. Nowadays a theory of В«plate tectonicsВ» became the leading
theory behind geology of modern time. The article gave a quote of Naomi Oreskes, who wrote
В«The theory of continental drift did not violate the laws of nature...but in Schuchert s view it did
challenge and seriously threaten the uniformitarian principle that was at the root of his science.В»
So it means that this theory changes a common way of thinking of majority of

How Can Organizations Shape And Manage Relationship Inter...
IT BASED VALUE CO CREATION IN HUB SPOKE DYADS
IT based value co creation research is concerned with inter organizational arrangements and
processes in which two or more organizations leverage IT to form mutually beneficial partnerships
or alliances (Grover et al. 2012). In such relationships, the partnering organizations seek to generate
value that is greater than the value they could create independently by relying upon market
mechanisms alone (Dyer et al. 1998). Based on these premises, IT based value co creation research
seeks to understand and explain how IT can help organizations shape and manage relationship inter
dependencies and associated exchanges (e.g., information flows) to yield mutual benefits. As such,
Kohli et al. (2008, p. 28) suggest co creation represents the idea that (a) IT value is increasingly
being created and realized through actions of multiple parties, (b) value emanates from robust
collaborative relationships among firms, and (c) structures and incentives for parties to partake in
and equitably share emergent value are necessary to sustain co creation.
Using IT enabled organizational relationships as the unit of analysis, recent studies have
empirically examined how such relationships can yield mutual benefits, especially in the business
to business (B2B) context. Examples include IT based value co creation in supply chain
relationships (Cederlund et al. 2007; Klein et al. 2009; Rai et al. 2012), between platform
producers and developers

Mrs. Sargent
Grade level: 6.6
Transportation of the Civil War Before the Civil War there were things that the North and the South
needed to use to move things around the place. There are two things that were most important. The
train that was the most important was the R.R locomotive and the man that made that was Richard
Trevithick. They moved the steal and other things on the rail and the R.R was used in the North
more than the South. They also used boats. Since they did not have steam boats, they used row
boats. The guy that made the steam boats was John Fitch. They used the steam boats to carry cotton

money transportation for the southerners that was lots of money but to the Northerners that
was nothing. There was so many things that the South had that the North did not have. There
was so many thing to get a person around the place but when the y can out with the steam boats
and the R R train there was a different way of getting to place to place. Back then there was so
many thinning that was happening like cotton and rail road so they needed to find people to get
it places so they made the train and steam boat. Transportation was a big deal back then likes
who is going to take my things and stuff, and who was going to make it here. They all needed to
make it place so someone in the South would use the steam boat to where they need to go and if
they can t make it that far they would have getting the train and get there place. People back then

The Replacement And Fortification Of Micronutrients
The replacement and fortification of micronutrients in Milo, an iconic Kiwi drink, has gotten
people increasingly interested in the fortification of food products. The fortification of foods is
when the manufacturer or government has decided to add vitamins and micronutrients that humans
benefit from. This includes things such as iron, which helps you metabolize proteins for creating
red blood cells and haemoglobin, helping us stay alive. There are ongoing discussions and debates
on this topic, whether it is good or bad to fortify products. People who consume fortified foods are
presumably benefiting from these products rather than a pure source. Governments can mandate or
make fortification voluntary, but the manufacturers can do so if they feel they need to.
New Zealand s level of fluoride occurring naturally in water is very low making it unsuitable for
protection of your teeth. The fluoridation of water is backed by the Ministry of Health, saying that
it is a simple way to prevent tooth decay. All of our country does not fluoridate, with different
councils having different opinion about the matter. Here in Nelson/Tasman area, the councils have
decided not to fluoridate because there was no need to, and was overruled.
On the surface of your teeth is a layer of enamel which protects it from decay. It demineralizes,

Conflict Resolution And Resolving Workplace Conflicts
Conflict Resolution
Conflicts are inevitable. It is necessary for the advanced practice nurse to have skills in
approaching conflicts, negotiations, and resolutions (Hamric, Hanson, Tracy, Grady, 2014).
According to Hamric et al. (2014), you do not have to feel pressured to instantly agree with other
teammates; however, be respectful and listen intently and identify what you are able to offer to the
team.
Conflicts occur because of the different points of view. They can also happen because of various
morals, values, and work ethic. In a multinational team there is bound to be conflicts. Those
conflicts will transpire and require resolution. Problem solving with negotiations can lead to a quick
resolution.
Communication
Communication is essential with resolving workplace conflicts. Communicate clearly and
frequently. No employee wants to be uninformed or left out of the loop, especially regarding
important decisions. Communicating with each other not only helps everyone to do a better job, it
reduces stress and increases job performance (Lee, 2008).

Fracking Of The United States
Alexi Taylor Monday, December 1, 2014 Dr. Gray Final Paper Fracking in the United States
Hydraulic fracking in the United States is a current environmental hazard that has to be
addressed by the American people and by the federal government. Fracking in America has
opened up millions of acres of lands that were once not economically viable to produce oil and
gas. While the Bureau of land Management has paved the way for hydraulic fracturing on public
lands, there is a need for retaliation. Fracking is a dirty method of extracting gases and oils at the
price of numerous environmental, safety, and health hazards. The environment is not a means of
income when rather it is the capital for future generations. Currently fracking is being disputed at
state and federal levels. Farmers around the country have been affected by this issue where
fracking companies disturb the surrounding environment to a point that nearby neighbors are
affected so much where their drinking water becomes contaminated and undrinkable. Who
becomes responsible to support these everyday farmers to contend against these well off oil
fracking companies? In some cases these farmers don t have the resources to win the legal
disputes against these large fracking barons. Small family farms are disappearing at a fast rate, and
one more variable thrown in will make these small family farm disappear that much faster. Even if
the victims were to triumph in one court case what happens after when they plug

Agricultural Extension Practices For A Farming Community
The previous chapter reviewed the agricultural extension practices where extension plays an
important role in facilitating changes in a farming community. The literature indicated that there
are a lot of extension approaches due to change of ideas, purposes vary, and paradigm shift. It
appears that, agricultural extension involves many different approaches and methodologies. And it
is managed and delivered through a variety of institutional arrangements. It seems that no single
approach best suit extension development in all circumstances.
The purpose of this chapter is to consider farming from the perspective of the farmer and how such
consideration might benefit extension approaches and outcomes. The farming environment is
complex and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, after the introduction, the chapter begins by clarifying what kind of farmers this
study refers to by defining smallholder farmer, elements of smallholder, and the farming
environment as to understand and identify some key variables in farming environment that will
enhance our investigation of farmers livelihood.
4.1Introduction
This chapter identifies various factors that affect farmers decision making concerning their way
of life. The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) is a way to improve understanding of the
way of life of rural people (IFAD, 2011). It draws on the main factors (internal and external) that
affect rural people s livelihoods and the natural relationships between these factors. SLA is based
on the concept of capability, equity and sustainability (Chambers Conway, 1992).This study seeks
to consider SLA as a framework to help understand the main factors that affect cocoa farmers
livelihoods, the relationships between these factors and how decisions are made on growing cocoa.
In this chapter the diffusion of innovation model, particularly the variables which influences an
innovation s rate of adoption (after Rogers, 2003), and elements of smallholder farmer by HLPE
(2013) (see Figure 11) will be viewed through SLA. The commonly known variables determining the
rate of technology adoption in agriculture were listed by Rogers (2003). These variables include

I like this ad. I can see myself being in the model s shoes with ease. I find the tone of the headline
(i.e. thank you conveniently located porta potty ) and delivery of the ad quite witty and cleverly
executed. I sometimes feel intimidated and alienated by the hardcore athletes ridden in Nike
ads as a dancer. I don t fall into the typical sports categories Nike targets so their models and
athletes don t appeal to me. I am serious about dance, however, so I find that Brooks messaging

This light hearted ad is consistent with their overall brand image, brand personality, and other ads
as their website features a running banana and what s been dubbed as the Brooks VIP Porta Potty

tech inside a shoe and their community is encouraged to share tips and advice to other runners.
Impact Magazine, where this ad is found, is a serious fitness, performance, and sport magazine, is a
little inconsistent with their overall image. Flipping through the magazine, all the other ads are
much more serious and/or information intensive. As a result, however, Brooks ad stands out and
grabs your attention. Although the ad overall is humorous and light hearted, they also include some
jargon about their shoes tech (i.e. mid foot crash pad) that only serious runners would understand,
including the reader. I believe it is an effective ad that grabs the reader s attention but still delivers
professionalism and credibility to its stance on high performance

Persuasive Essay On Flag Desecration
Fifty white stars, and thirteen red and white stripes should not be anywhere near the line of fire.
The American flag is the fabric of our nation. The cloth of the land, that simple 3 colored
polyester rectangle, has been fought for by millions of people. They weren t fighting for liberty
and free speech in WWI, WWII, Vietnam. They were fighting for the flag that many of them
were buried in. And yet, some people in your country enjoy burning it. The freedom to defend
the flag from desecration by its enemies has been cruely removed. Our democracy is strong
because we tolerate all peaceful forms of expression, no matter how uncomfortable they make us
feel or how much we disagree. The U.S. Supreme Court has affirmed and reaffirmed that the
right to desecrate the flag is included in the Constitution s protection of speech. Flag desecration
is a disrespectful expression to our nation and veterans. Flag desecration should be banned and
illegal in all fifty states. Flag desecration became protected under the first amendment in 1989 in
the case of Gregory Johnson. The Supreme Court, in the case of Gregory Johnson (1989), ruled
that it was in fact constitutional to allow people to burn the flag, the evidence against this ruling
is overwhelming. The law defined desecration as physical mistreatment of such objects in a way
which the accused knows will offend one or more persons likely to observe or discover the act
(Texas v. Johnson). When Gregory Johnson or any other protestor s

The Cost Of Living By Carlos Fuentes
The Cost of Living
The Cost of Living by Carlos Fuentes, starts with Salvador Renteria and his wife Ana. Ana has
been in bed for two weeks and is very ill. Salvador comforts his wife while she is lying in bed. He
tells her not to worry and that she will get better soon. Salvador shows his love for his wife while
she is sick. She asked Salvador to check her messages at the office, he told her that the office
wanted her to come in person to sign (Fuentes 451). We can note from this that during this time
period medicine wasn t very advanced. When someone needed highly advanced medicine, it was
very expensive and rare to get.
A shopkeeper tells Salvador that Life en Espanol hadn t arrived yet (Fuentes 452). Carlos Fuentes
tells us this because he wants us to get the feel for the setting of the story. This also can stereotype
that the life in Mexico can prove to be economically difficult.
The story is focused in the mid 1950s during political corruptness. The setting is located in
Mexico City, Mexico. Carlos Fuentes expresses this because he wants us to get the feel for the
setting of the story. This also can stereotype that the life in Spanish can be economical hard. I
believe that Carlos chose this time era because he wanted people to see how life was the back
then compared to how it is today. The point of view takes us back in time to where medical
treatment wasn t available, unlike today. Salvador leaves his house and is walking down the street

The Restaurant Tippers We have been here for 10 minutes and still have not gotten our drinks
ordered yet! This was one of my countless complaints as a customer before I started working as a
server in a restaurant. It never occurred to me to consider how many tables our server was assigned
to or how time consuming some customer requests may be. The truth of the matter is, a majority
of restaurant guests do not notice these important details when deciding a servers tip. By taking a
look at the manner of guests, many servers can predict the way customers will tip: the how worthy
are they? tipper, the percent tipper, the I am a server too, tipper, and lastly, the overly lavish tipper.

pleasing service they will receive a gracious tip, one worth bragging about. For not so pleasing
service, this is where problems occur. The how worthy are they? tippers in more cases than not
will be the kinds of people that are awfully hard to satisfy, they are typically the most demanding
and are often looked at as high maintenance. Not to mention, with these tippers not only will
waiters receive little to no tip at all; it would not be a surprise to a server that they hear the
dreaded words, I would like to speak with your manager. Fact is, there are other guests in the

Native American Graves Protection And Repatriation Act Essay
As persons travel through the state of Kansas, one would gather the sense that the state has a
history that began with the settlement of European Americans during the 19th Century as there
is little roadside advertising stating the contrary. Kansas, for centuries, was a land where many
Native American tribes that lived, fought, and died. Subsequently, the city of Wichita is a good
example of this. It is known as a large city of Kansas and not known as the name of a Native
American tribe. The fact of the matter is that the Wichita tribe aided in the establishment of a
trading post that led to the development of the current metropolitan city. One would be total
unaware that the state of Kansas played a major role in the Native American Graves Protection
and Repatriation Act (1990). Unless one drives by one of the tribal casinos, one would not be
aware that Kansas proudly has four Native American reservations. In reality, for centuries the
state of Kansas has held a rich history and future as a Native land. Kansas is a Native land
because prior to the European American settlement of Kansas, many Native American tribes
thrived within Kansas. The fact is, centuries ago, Kansas was occupied by Native Americans who
thrived in large villages or as flourishing nomads who followed the large herds of buffalo roaming
Kansas grasslands. The land, now called Kansas, had been home to many Native American peoples.

Cheap Designer Sunglasses for Men
Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.
Sunglasses are always once of the major areas wherein almost everyone wants to invest in because
sunglasses come with a huge number of benefits. They are not just the style statements but they do
have many advantages as well. As the condition of the environment is getting deteriorated with
every next day, experts suggest wearing sunglasses, especially in summers to protect the eyes
against the harmful rays.
Sunglasses cannot only just be regarded as one of the fashion accessories, they are successful in
offering a defence against Ultraviolet (UV) Rays that can cause short and long term eye damage
including cataracts, age related muscular degeneration and other sun related eye diseases.
Experts warn people about the damage which the sun can cause. We try so many things on our
skin, creams, clothes, etc. to keep it safe from coming into contact with the rays of the sun. It is
the time to realise that as your skin needs protection, your eyes too need the sense of care from

regardless of their age, or affiliation and wanted it to be as personable as possible. I stated in my

that is having a difficult time deciding can be at ease that they are not the only ones, which will

Misfits Analysis
Both Richard Donner s 1985 adventure comedy The Goonies written by Steven Spielberg, and
Rob Reiner s 1986 coming of age drama Stand By Me based on Stephen King s novella The Body,
portray several characters to be misfits in society. The Goonies follows the story of a group of
misfits on a treasure hunt to save their home from foreclosure and Stand By Me is a writer s
recount of the death of a friend and a boyhood journey to find the missing body of Ray Bowers.
Narrativeperspective, sound, characterisation, camera angles, and symbolism, contribute to various
themes which Donner and Reiner exploit to evoke supportive emotion for misfits.
In diverse methods, both directors seek to engender support for their misfits by the pursuit of their
stories through differing perspectives. Donner refrains from applying narration and solely relies on
dialogue, conversely, Reiner reveals elements of his characters through the eyes of Gordie
Lachance, in first person narration. The lack of narration in The Goonies allows a viewer to
experience the journey of the misfits through a neutral and an unfiltered perspective. Donner
exposes his viewers to the perspective of several characters, which provides him the opportunity to
create characters which relate with the numerous circumstances and personalities of viewers. The
connection a viewer feels towards a character, lulls them to view matters similarly. Dissimilarly, first

Handout 1: Questions for Triumph of the Will by Leni Riefenstahl (1934/35)
1. Why does this film begin with a view of the clouds from the cockpit of an airplane? What might
this image symbolize?
I believe that the film began with a view of the clouds from the cockpit probably because Hitler
was on the plane and it showed that he felt superior to everyone down below, or that he was finally
in the midst of completing what he wanted which was to have a perfect Germany under his reign.
2. What impression do you get of Germany from the aerial shots of the city of Nuremberg? What
general image does the director Leni Riefenstahl give of Germany as a country?
Most of Germany was extremely supportive of Hitler. I saw this toddler not ... Show more content

They all got along well together, and had each other s back. The film shows one soldier scrubbing
another soldiers back. Also there were a lot of chants and uniform sayings they repeated over and
over, especially when Hitler was there. They paid homage to the Nazi comrades that had died.
5. What pictures of youth and masculinity are portrayed in this film?
This film definitely contributes to the youth and masculinity. The youth was taught at a very
young age to salute Hitler the appropriate way. Like I stated earlier, there was a toddler who was
caught saluting Hitler. The young men who were becoming soldiers were now dedicating their
lives to their country. One young man said, We are the Reich s young men, so this shows that
they consciously acknowledged who they were and for what they were called to do. As for
masculinity, I believe that all men were sought to be equal because the film showed men serving
the soldiers, so they served each other and they had no problem doing so.
6. What aspects of this film fit into the documentary film genre, and what aspects appear more
purely propagandistic?
The most propagandistic part of the film was when different men were giving speeches when Von
Hindenburg died. They all had glittering and nice things to say about Germany and how the
people and their loyalty were making all of it happen. It was giving Germany a sense of pride

Tachycardi Exploring Heart Rate
Heart rate, also known as pulse, is the number of times a person s heart beats per minute. A normal
heart rate depends on the individual, age, body size, heart conditions, whether the person is sitting
or moving, medication use and even air temperature. Even emotions can have an impact on heart
rate. For example, getting excited or scared can increase the heartrate. But most importantly, getting
fitter lowers the heart rate, by making heart muscles work more efficiently.
Your pulse is the way doctors check for certain dieases. If you have a high pulse you are in risk of
Tachycardia, which means it is too fast. A heart rate of more than 100 beats per minute (BPM) in
adults is called tachycardia. What s too fast for you may depend on your age

Age Of Reform Dbq
The Age of Reform started in 1820 and ended in 1860. The reform was to try to get rid
discrimination against many things or to improve conditions of life. People wanted life to become
more fair and everyone to be equal. In the Age of Jackson democracy became more popular,
democracy is what influenced the reform. Without these movements the US would not be the same
today. One of the many movements in the reform is the women s rightsmovement. Women could
not vote, attend schools, or have certain jobs. They were expected to take care of the house, cook,
and clean. Two women named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Stanton impacted this movement in
many ways. They had the idea to create a convention after they were told women could not take
part in the proceedings . Their convention discussed many things such as, social, civil, and religious
rights of women. This was the first gathering aimed toward women. Later Stanton wrote The
Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments talked about full equality for women.

Perverse Feminine Masochism
Perverse feminine masochism From the case study of Mary, we propose the notion of perverse
feminine masochism as antinomic with erotic feminine masochism, the latter being based on the
change of desired object. The desire to be penetrated by the father, then by the lover, supports the
investment of penetration as a promised opening. Thus, whereas erotic feminine masochism relies
on the primary erogenous masochism, constitutes a basis of the first narcissistic foundations and
counterinvests moral masochism, for some people, the encounter with the sexual might be
contrastingly traumatizing and reactive pregenital anxieties of intrusion that may be compared with
a revivification of incest (Schaeffer, 2002). Perverse feminine masochism is made

Based on Maxwell, leadership is a verb not a noun and it s a process not a destination or finish
line. There are 5 levels, level 1: position, level 2: permission, level 3: production, level 4: people
development, level 5: pinnacle, as the higher level is, the better a leader is. As who he is right
now, Sir Richard Branson has reached the level 5, which is pinnacle. Pinnacle simply means that
a leader that has a reputation for excellence because people follow him not because of his

natural gifted leaders reach the pinnacle. Pinnacle leaders have created a legacy that transcends

Guns Germs And Steel Essay
Guns, Germs and Steel Essay In 1920 American women were allowed to vote. While in Papa
New Guinea people were trying to find a more efficient way of farming. This shows just how
unequal our world is. So what causes inequality? The cause of inequality is due to geography.
Farming and domesticated animals is where the problem started. After domesticated animals,
came steel leading to the exposure of germs. For a civilization to succeed it needs a steady
source of crops, domesticated animals, production of steel, and early exposure to germs. A huge
factor that affects a civilization s development is what can be grown in your region. An ideal
food supply would be high in protein, have a surplus of calories, and long term storage. The
Fertile Crescent had a spectacular food source; they had wheat which supplied high protein,
surplus of calories, and had long term storage. Smaller civilizations such as Papa New Guinea

again. Exposure to epidemic disease affects the development of civilization by immunity; if we

The spanish developed an immunity to smallpox by having domesticated animals. The
domesticated animals actually carried smallpox and germs. The spanish worked with the animals

Introgenic government
Topic: Response and Social Policy paper on Iatrogenic Government The response to drug use in
America and in some countries around the world seems to have an interesting history. As the
author Daniel Patrick Moynihan describes the unintended consequences society faces when
government does not deal effectively with issues of drugs in society. He provided several
references that shows the historical and present connections to government interrelations and how
many of these decisions have some form of negative impact and at times causes social
breakdown. His historical reference to drug uses, medicinal properties as well as technology role

Thus as the author begins to address the issues related to drugs his reference about the
government s approach ring truth The truth in either event is that we were mostly asserting
what we did not know and would need to learn (pg. 353). The author s reference to technology is
relevant but I will address the issue of technology later on as I respond to his summary. The
history of drug use represents lessons that were long been seen but obviously overlooked by
doctors as well as pharmaceutical companies. The earlier efforts by government to regulate drug
use or alcohol consumption began with some regulations on Jamaican rum. Since distilled liquor
was used in social events, the government approaches in regulating the trafficking of the distilled
liquor was by levying heavy fines on the general tariff bill. The cost of importing Jamaican rum
was costlier than distilled liquor here in America. Again, at the time, the government was mostly
dealing with the abolition of slavery and again the issues around alcohol consumption were
minimally dealt with. Distilled spirits in earlier America was part of bringing Americans together
during times of unity. It was a time to earn easy money and have an all around good time (pg.
354). People enjoyed alcohol in the morning for breakfast as well as a celebratory thing. The
government knew that drinking alcohol or distilled liquor caused some medical issues but again, the

Intimate Partner Violence Problem Statement
Problem Statement
Around the world, one in every three women has been coerced into having intercourse, beaten, or
abused during some point in her lifetime (Domestic Violence Statistics, 2015). The topic that will
be studied with the paper is intimate partner violence or another term that can be used is domestic
violence. Domestic violence or intimate partner violence is the systematic pattern or control or
power perpetuated by one partner against another (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence,
n.d.). Throughout the paper the term domestic violence and intimate violence will be used
interchangeably. The misconception is that domestic violence or intimate partner violence is only
between two people in a romantic relationship, but this is not so. Domestic violence includes, but is
not limited to child abuse, elder and vulnerable adult abuse, spousal or partner abuse, and sibling
violence (Can Fam Physician, 1999). This behavior can include but is not limited to sexual assault,
intimidation, and physical assault (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, n.d.). Reports
from 10 countries have shown that somewhere between 55 and 95 percent of women who
experience physical abuse by a partner had never contacted the police, shelters, or other
organizations for help (Domestic Violence Statistics, 2015).

According to Merriam Webster s online dictionary (2015), philosophy is a particular set of ideas
about knowledge, truth, the nature and meaning of life. Before truly choosing ones path into
nursing, it is important to explore personal values and principles that will guide such nursing
practice. Her philosophy in nursing incorporates the nursing metaparadigm of person, health,
environment and nursing. Furthermore, it will include education, administration and research. This
paper will focus and explore values she feels are important and necessary in the delivery of holistic
nursing care. Nursing as a Person A person can be an individual, family, community or all mankind.
It is the focus of nursing practice (George, 2011). Providing compassionate and patient centered
care is imperative. Maintaining an efficient nurse patient relationship is instrumental to the care of
a person. A nurse theorist that she relates this too is Hildegard Peplau whose theory greatly
emphasizes the importance of the nurse patient relationship. The nurse patient relationship starts
when there is a need. Therefore, through phases, the relationship is maintained. She believes that to
any person that effective communication is greatly needed so that they are aware that their care is

end of the day, so I was mentally and physically exhausted. However, Coach McCoy was my

lesson, my teacher mentioned a camp she volunteered at during the summer called Camp
Abilities, the main goal of which is to aid children with visual impairments. The camp s motto
read as A Loss of Sight, Never a Loss of Vision. Columbus State University sponsored the camp
each Memorial Day weekend. The camp is open to all children with some sort of visual impairment
from the ages of nine to eighteen. Immediately I was intrigued, and had a sudden urge to learn
more about the camp itself. I knew instantaneously that I wanted to be involved in such a
tremendous organization. I felt as if Coach McCoy s presentation about Camp Abilities was my

Compare And Contrast Christianity And Judaism
Almost all mankind is curious about knowing about the creation of the universe, but it remains
mysterious. Although some might be convinced through the Bible or other scripture while others
are still skeptical. Of world s three monotheistic religions (that is, the belief that there is only one
God), Christianityand Judaismshare the most similarities and differences between the two religions
in terms of history, beliefs, and practices. In fact, Christianity wouldn t be originated if Judaism
was not because they come from the same foundation. Judaism is one of the oldest world religions,
dating its origin back in the 500s 400s BCE. During the time, Abraham followed Godas he promised
to make Abraham the father of a great nation. Through Old Testament and promises to Moses,
David and the prophets it slowly reveals God s plan. The people of Israel got a law through Moses
and fulfillment of the promises become conditional on obedience to the law.
The Jewish people, also known as Hebrews at the time were the first to worship one God (the
Creator and Ruler), whose name is Yahweh. The most common opening to prayers in Judaism
called the Shema, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one (Robinson Rodrigues, p. 51), hence are
continually retold there is one god, no other. The God of Christianity is the same as the Jewish
God, it is a God of mercy and forgiveness. In Christianity one God consists of three distinct people
(the trinity): The Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

the odyssey. People came up with this story because they had a believe that they were not the
only ones. That also counts for the people in other nations because of globalization. Were all the
people spread their culture to other countries and migration come along were the people mix. And
bind culture together that s why they came up with this myths. What i think this story s exist

Anti Hispanic Racism In America
When Americans think of racism, they usually think of slavery, and that racism is no longer a
problem in America. However, this is not the case. Racism is still obvious in America. Racism
can be linked directly to stereotypical mindsets of certain groups of people. Today s racism is not
restricted to whites and blacks, and it has come to define many different groups and races.
Pigmentation as well as physical characteristics and features still are influential for classifying
people. It is easy to overlook the racism that hides below the surface and is part of American life.
Today, an estimate 54 million Latinos live in the U.S. and around 43 million people speak Spanish.
Although Latinos are the country s largest minority, anti Latino prejudice is still common. Very few
Americans recognize, acknowledge, and respect the contributions of one of America s greatest
ethnic groups Hispanics. Americans are often confused as to who Hispanics really are and what
they represent in America. Although the United Statesis known for having a melting pot of diverse
cultures, recent studies have shown the rise of discrimination against Latinos and Hispanics
immigrants. A person s legal status should not be an excuse for mistreatment.
Civil rights have been the example of our constitutional history. How we treat and respect others has
been the foundation of American democracy, yet despite this constitutional and moral obligation,
modern day anti Hispanic racism continues to define who we

Applied Criminal Justice Ethics
This has to be one of my favorite assignments since becoming a student at Kaplan. I have been
interested in the Criminal Justice since I was a small child. I come from a long line of military,
however, my passion has always been Criminal Law. I remember even as a young girl in the 2nd
grand, I had dreams and aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Now that I have an ex husband, and
two children of my own and find the justice system a little Leewayish (if that s even a word) on
dead beat fathers, my dream has now become to be a Ball busting District Attorney for deadbeat
moms and dads. I am sick and tired of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4. I believe there was enough ethics taught at the academy. I think the most valuable lessons in this
are learned on the job though. If you watch a good honest cop, you can learn more from him than a
lecture. (Shonda Ellis Duncan, personal Interview 2011)
5. Should ethics training be offered as an on going process for law enforcement officers? * 5. On
going ethics training is always a good idea. We train with our guns and cars every year. Couldn t
hurt to make ethics required every year too. (Shonda Ellis Duncan, personal Interview 2011) 6. Do
the interviewees feel that education and/or training in ethics would reduce incidents of police
corruption? * 6. Training may reduce corruption incidents. It s a nice idea. A wise man once told
me though that power corrupts. I believe this to be true. If you think of yourself as a superior to
everyone else, there is no law, no training or in service that can fix that kind of ugly. I don t know
if someone can be trained to be humble. Either you are or you ain t. I think this is true for cops.
You re either a good one or we appreciate your interest in law enforcement. Of course a good cop
has to maintain order. You must have respect to be successful. An officer s presence alone demands
it. One must remember the spirit and the letter of the law though and hold it dear as it is precious.

Essay about Interracial Marriages Proposal
| Interracial Marriages| Proposal| | Tyler Smith| |
SOCI 381 12/10/2010
Introduction
To see a black man and a white woman walking down the street holding hands used to be unheard
of. It was a relationship that, for the few who engaged in it, was kept as quiet as possible. During
the fifties and sixties, interracial dating was not socially acceptable and there were repercussions
for those who were involved in such behaviors because various laws, such as the Jim Crow laws,
which kept the different races/ethnicities separate and it was seen as extremely socially deviant to
go against these rules. Between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, there have been theoretical proposals for the existence of other predictors of attitudes
and actions, which may be relevant to the current research. Recent studies have found that
controlling for other variables, significant predictors of opposition to a law banning interracial
marriage include being non white, being younger, holding a liberal ideology, identifying as a
democrat, having greater income, having a greater level of education, being less religious, and
living outside of the South (Haider Markel and Joslyn 2005). For some of these predictors,
theoretical explanations have been proposed. Various researchers have conducted investigations
into the many aspects of this type of relationship and have concluded that an increase in interracial
marriages has occurred. This increase may be the result of numerous factors, including the
Supreme Court lifting of the legal restrictions on racial intermarriage in 1967, the decrease in
White prejudice against Blacks, and the narrowing of the racial gap in education, income, and
occupation (Kalmijn 1993). However, Kalmijn (1993) states that although these factors may have
resulted in an increase in interracial marriages, other factors may counter this effect. For instance,
there has been an increase in Black unemployment, a rise in the racial gap of college enrollment,
and part of

Gait Assessment
Gait is the most important function of daily living activities for all human beings. As physical
therapists and researchers we are particularly interested in evaluation of gait. There is a distinct
necessity for objective measurement of gait because without it the excellence of treatment decisions
is condensed, due to subjective and often unreliable nature of the assessment. Objective measures
must be employed to validate efficacy of the treatment protocol, a function that has become
imperative since health care resources are becoming more strained and health care providers are
held more accountable1. Gait assessment is an everyday responsibility of the therapist, and visual
assessment seems unreliable and erratic for the most part. Measurement... Show more content on

children with Cerebral Palsy. The psychometric properties of the walkway system have been

data is available for children diagnosed as idiopathic toe walkers. Persistent toe walking beyond age
two years merits further investigation because it can be a first sign of an underlying neuromuscular
or developmental abnormality like Cerebral Palsy (CP), Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and
autism3 5. Walking on toes has numerous consequences and primary gait deviations are seen in
subjects at ankle joint6. Evidence also shows that idiopathic toe walkers have significant increase
in ankle plantarflexion during stance and swing phases6. Hence, a bigger project to evaluate the
use of GAITRite in children diagnosed as idiopathic toe walkers is being planned. Therefore, the
current review aims to highlight available literature on the use of GAITRite in different
populations and their findings on the validity and reliability measures. Table 1 elaborates different

The Aviation Industry Impact The Environment
One of the first things to know about the way the aviation industry impacts the environment is it
is different from other sources of emissions. According to a FAA report, aircraft s btu/passenger
mile (energy intensity) is 2,654 in 2012. This is an 24.3% improvement from the 3,505 btu
/passenger miles in 2004. It is also improving faster compared to automobiles btu/passenger mile
of 8.8% improvement (FAA, 2015). In aviation, most of its pollutants are distributed at high
altitudes. However, this can still be hazardous to the environment because aircraft emissions
above 3,000 feet can cause up to five times more health impacts than emissions below 3,000
(Steven Barrett, Ian A. Waitz, 2009 2010). A widely studied area in the impacts aviation has is
researching air quality. There are two areas which have been getting a lot of attention and
becoming more important relating to air quality. The first area is known as fine particulate matter
(PM). PM is known as an air pollutant containing tiny particles floating in the air, sometimes
creating a foggy, hazy look in the air. Compared to NOx, another compound found in emissions,
PM is known to be a greater impact (Waitz, Townsend, Cutcher Gershenfeld, Greitzer, Kerrebrock,
2004). One challenge the aviation industry is trying to overcome is measuring the PM caused by
aircraft and PM caused by outside factors non aviation related. There are currently no uniformly
accepted methods for measuring both the PM and PM precursors from

Analysis Of The Television Show Saved By The Bell Essay
Millennials Are Determined In the television show Saved by the Bell, the character Zach Morris a
high school student failed to have enough credits to graduate high school. Zach demonstrated his
determination to make up a class in order to graduate on time with his class. A failed experience
motivates millennials to keep trying until the goal is accomplished. We use our past experiences as
an encouragement to succeed in education. Higher education opens the door to better job
opportunities for generation Y. Having a similar experience in high schoolincludes me of this
generation. Once informed regarding low grades it motivated Zack to put more work and effort
because a passing grade is required in order to graduate. Schools educate the millennials to enter
the workforce. Generation Y is special because they are the largest group of people schooled in
history, have the nature to own a business and be their own boss, and work for a meaningful
cause, not just money. Generation Y is special because we face challenges that influence us to
succeed. In Paul Angone s article 3 Major Challenges Facing Millennials he states, Millennials are
the Largest, Most Educated Generation in History (Angone 2). They are the largest group of
people schooled in history. College students work to obtain a bachelors or doctorate college
degree.in the desired field of work. Attending college allows the millennials to have better job

This year was one that helped me figure out my strengths academically. As the year progressed I
noticed writing flowed easier for me than math did. For me it has always been that way. English
has been my strong point since elementary, but this year it was evident. I struggled with the
content that math analysis consists of. It was hard for me to understand how one number could
just suddenly turn into something else and how so many symbols were needed. It was confusing.
My goal this year was to understand the kind of person I want to become as I reach adulthood.

actions are now. How our grades do affect us because it can alter what schools we are

No matter what faith, lawsuits do not discriminate. Philip K. Howard stated, Nothing is sacred.
Ministers now are increasingly told not to counsel troubled parishioners because, who knows,
maybe someone will sue if the couple ends up getting divorced. How can we as fellow
parishioners allow this to happen? When did we develop a fright for participating in a faith?
Lets permit ministers to counsel as they have for centuries. Church and State have always been
separate, lets keep it that way! Sociologist Orlando Patterson asked the question, Do you think
whites are afraid of discrimination claims? Frozen with fear is more accurate. The sociologist
observed, no Euro American person #8230;dare say what he or she really means. Fear of a

Similarities And Differences Between The Hunger Games...
Both Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games and Gary Ross movie, The Hunger Games, represent
characters thoughts and feelings through their respective mediums. While the novel is written as a
first person narrative, the story is told with a third person narrator the film, the latter giving insights
to happenings outside the arena due to the ability to switch between internal and external
focalisation (Fisher 28). Characters thoughts are foreshadowed throughout the novel using diction
unlike the film, which portrays differed details from the novel to achieve the same effect (Lothe
86). With a long discourse time in the novel, and the use of tropes and symbols in the film, both
Collins and Ross portray characters inner thoughts (Fisher 30). These examples would give a better
understanding of how the novel and film version of The Hunger Games represent characters
thoughts and feelings such as that of hatred, being hurt, love, and grief.
Written in first person, readers are limited to Katniss view on events in the novel, but shown
other perspectives in the film, having a third person narrator (Fisher 28). This idea is
demonstrated when Katniss decorates Rue s body after her death. Katniss decorate her body in

Stages Of Health Policy Analysis
The political decision making process is so irrational that a completely rational approach to health
policy making can hardly be achieved. Support, debunk or provide alternative paradigms or
approaches to this statement, focusing on the development of a particular policy area you are
familiar with, and using analytic tools and frameworks in health policyanalysis.
This paper will begin by briefly examining the role of the state in health and how the state or
political system is structured to meet this obligation. It will then describe the types of policy, the
stages of policy making, and the uniqueness of health policy making. Having provided a solid

While the more obvious internal political structure of a nation can facilitate or hinder participation
in the policy making process, exogenous factors are a major yet less discernible factor. Therefore,
it is dependent on the particular aspect of control that policy health actors are faced with, will direct
the type of policy development processes undertaken. If the policy is within the control of Health,
involves input to cross portfolio policy development, or involves input to intergovernmental policy
development.
Amongst the many structures used to describe the policy processes Walt (1994) describes the
most commonly used framework as a four step continuous cycle that moves through (1) problem
identification and issue recognition/definition, (2) Policy formulation with clarification of policy
issues and preferred options, (3) policy implementation (4) policy evaluation and review.
Consultation occurs throughout this cycle. This was expanded upon in the NSW Health
Department State Health Publication (1998) to include; a release of formal discussion paper and
the development of final policy paper, as two separate activities coming after policy formation.
These two additional steps have become necessary, as the intended policy must be available to the
general public and special interest groups, to illicit their views before it is adopted and sent before
cabinet for approval.

The Jesuits and Marianist have many similarities and differences among their communities. In the
Marianist community they too are very much involved in wide variety of people such as,

the Marianist is to seek the gospel through service and the lives of others. With the guidance of
Mary, the Marianist work together to find faith to help serve others for their dignity, liberation,

  • 2. Rock And Roll Of The 1960 S Dr. Roessner Reading Rock Roll 11/21/16 Pet Sounds vs. SGT Pepper Rock and Roll in the 1960 s was a very memorable decade. Rock and roll music went through a very dramatic transformation; A few bands went through some changes of their own to keep selling albums. Two very popular bands that went through a transformation was the Beach Boys and the Beatles. I bring up these two well known bands because I believe that they played a key role in the transformation of rock and roll. Rock and roll would not be the same today without these two remarkable bands. Between the Beach Boys and the Beatles, I guess someone could say that there was a little bit of friction. This was because when the Beach Boys debuted in 1961 they were known as Americas favorite band, until The Beatles came to the states in 1964. The Beatles brought something new with them when they crossed the Atlantic Ocean from England, and this was just the beginning of something new. This friction between the Beach Boys and The Beatles is what started a beautiful transformation of music in the rock and roll world, and it all started with the albums Pet Sounds and SGT Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Some background on these two bands and where they came from. In 1961 The Beach Boys were born. The band was made up of five men Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston, and Al Jardine. Brian was the brains of the band and his imaginative ambitions and songwriting aptitudes eventually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dating Earth And A Theory Of Plate Tectonics The article discusses Dating Earth and a theory of plate tectonics. In the beginning, the scientists community was divided into two parts, where one part supported Christian believes about the universal flood that was a proof of an existence of God and another group of scientists who rejected theories of Catastrophism. The early geologist, В«catastrophistsВ», believed that В«catastrophic events in the past determined the geologyof the Earth.В» In that time because of the lack of evidence catastrophists were not taken seriously enough. An alternative theory was called В«uniformitarianismВ» and a main idea is that the Earth is timeworn. According to the article, there were three main theories which were doubted, such as a continental draft, the giant meteor that killed the dinosaurs, and catastrophic flooding in the Channeled Scablands.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theory explained how continents move and change their positions on the Earth. One of the evidence was those rock formations and fossils from different continents were similar. Wegener was not a professional geologist, but against any disbelieves he could prove that this theory of Catastrophism is not a fairy tale. Nowadays a theory of В«plate tectonicsВ» became the leading theory behind geology of modern time. The article gave a quote of Naomi Oreskes, who wrote В«The theory of continental drift did not violate the laws of nature...but in Schuchert s view it did challenge and seriously threaten the uniformitarian principle that was at the root of his science.В» So it means that this theory changes a common way of thinking of majority of ... • 4. How Can Organizations Shape And Manage Relationship Inter... IT BASED VALUE CO CREATION IN HUB SPOKE DYADS IT based value co creation research is concerned with inter organizational arrangements and processes in which two or more organizations leverage IT to form mutually beneficial partnerships or alliances (Grover et al. 2012). In such relationships, the partnering organizations seek to generate value that is greater than the value they could create independently by relying upon market mechanisms alone (Dyer et al. 1998). Based on these premises, IT based value co creation research seeks to understand and explain how IT can help organizations shape and manage relationship inter dependencies and associated exchanges (e.g., information flows) to yield mutual benefits. As such, Kohli et al. (2008, p. 28) suggest co creation represents the idea that (a) IT value is increasingly being created and realized through actions of multiple parties, (b) value emanates from robust collaborative relationships among firms, and (c) structures and incentives for parties to partake in and equitably share emergent value are necessary to sustain co creation. Using IT enabled organizational relationships as the unit of analysis, recent studies have empirically examined how such relationships can yield mutual benefits, especially in the business to business (B2B) context. Examples include IT based value co creation in supply chain relationships (Cederlund et al. 2007; Klein et al. 2009; Rai et al. 2012), between platform producers and developers ... Transportation Of The Civil War Ethan Stickler March 10, 2017 Writing Mrs. Sargent Grade level: 6.6 Transportation of the Civil War Before the Civil War there were things that the North and the South needed to use to move things around the place. There are two things that were most important. The train that was the most important was the R.R locomotive and the man that made that was Richard Trevithick. They moved the steal and other things on the rail and the R.R was used in the North more than the South. They also used boats. Since they did not have steam boats, they used row boats. The guy that made the steam boats was John Fitch. They used the steam boats to carry cotton up and down the rivers. They used trains and steam boats to move cotton and steal during the ... • 6. The Replacement And Fortification Of Micronutrients The replacement and fortification of micronutrients in Milo, an iconic Kiwi drink, has gotten people increasingly interested in the fortification of food products. The fortification of foods is when the manufacturer or government has decided to add vitamins and micronutrients that humans benefit from. This includes things such as iron, which helps you metabolize proteins for creating red blood cells and haemoglobin, helping us stay alive. There are ongoing discussions and debates on this topic, whether it is good or bad to fortify products. People who consume fortified foods are presumably benefiting from these products rather than a pure source. Governments can mandate or make fortification voluntary, but the manufacturers can do so if they feel they need to. New Zealand s level of fluoride occurring naturally in water is very low making it unsuitable for protection of your teeth. The fluoridation of water is backed by the Ministry of Health, saying that it is a simple way to prevent tooth decay. All of our country does not fluoridate, with different councils having different opinion about the matter. Here in Nelson/Tasman area, the councils have decided not to fluoridate because there was no need to, and was overruled. On the surface of your teeth is a layer of enamel which protects it from decay. It demineralizes, meaning that you are losing minerals to help protect, but also remineralizes daily, gaining the minerals back that you lost. The tooth loses enamel from ... • 7. Conflict Resolution And Resolving Workplace Conflicts Conflict Resolution Conflicts are inevitable. It is necessary for the advanced practice nurse to have skills in approaching conflicts, negotiations, and resolutions (Hamric, Hanson, Tracy, Grady, 2014). According to Hamric et al. (2014), you do not have to feel pressured to instantly agree with other teammates; however, be respectful and listen intently and identify what you are able to offer to the team. Conflicts occur because of the different points of view. They can also happen because of various morals, values, and work ethic. In a multinational team there is bound to be conflicts. Those conflicts will transpire and require resolution. Problem solving with negotiations can lead to a quick resolution. Communication Communication is essential with resolving workplace conflicts. Communicate clearly and frequently. No employee wants to be uninformed or left out of the loop, especially regarding important decisions. Communicating with each other not only helps everyone to do a better job, it reduces stress and increases job performance (Lee, 2008). Unsatisfied Patient The patient drove 75 miles to have her biopsy. The physician was too busy and he scheduled the patient to see the nurse practitioner. • 8. Fracking Of The United States Alexi Taylor Monday, December 1, 2014 Dr. Gray Final Paper Fracking in the United States Hydraulic fracking in the United States is a current environmental hazard that has to be addressed by the American people and by the federal government. Fracking in America has opened up millions of acres of lands that were once not economically viable to produce oil and gas. While the Bureau of land Management has paved the way for hydraulic fracturing on public lands, there is a need for retaliation. Fracking is a dirty method of extracting gases and oils at the price of numerous environmental, safety, and health hazards. The environment is not a means of income when rather it is the capital for future generations. Currently fracking is being disputed at state and federal levels. Farmers around the country have been affected by this issue where fracking companies disturb the surrounding environment to a point that nearby neighbors are affected so much where their drinking water becomes contaminated and undrinkable. Who becomes responsible to support these everyday farmers to contend against these well off oil fracking companies? In some cases these farmers don t have the resources to win the legal disputes against these large fracking barons. Small family farms are disappearing at a fast rate, and one more variable thrown in will make these small family farm disappear that much faster. Even if the victims were to triumph in one court case what happens after when they plug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Agricultural Extension Practices For A Farming Community The previous chapter reviewed the agricultural extension practices where extension plays an important role in facilitating changes in a farming community. The literature indicated that there are a lot of extension approaches due to change of ideas, purposes vary, and paradigm shift. It appears that, agricultural extension involves many different approaches and methodologies. And it is managed and delivered through a variety of institutional arrangements. It seems that no single approach best suit extension development in all circumstances. The purpose of this chapter is to consider farming from the perspective of the farmer and how such consideration might benefit extension approaches and outcomes. The farming environment is complex and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, after the introduction, the chapter begins by clarifying what kind of farmers this study refers to by defining smallholder farmer, elements of smallholder, and the farming environment as to understand and identify some key variables in farming environment that will enhance our investigation of farmers livelihood. 4.1Introduction This chapter identifies various factors that affect farmers decision making concerning their way of life. The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) is a way to improve understanding of the way of life of rural people (IFAD, 2011). It draws on the main factors (internal and external) that affect rural people s livelihoods and the natural relationships between these factors. SLA is based on the concept of capability, equity and sustainability (Chambers Conway, 1992).This study seeks to consider SLA as a framework to help understand the main factors that affect cocoa farmers livelihoods, the relationships between these factors and how decisions are made on growing cocoa. In this chapter the diffusion of innovation model, particularly the variables which influences an innovation s rate of adoption (after Rogers, 2003), and elements of smallholder farmer by HLPE (2013) (see Figure 11) will be viewed through SLA. The commonly known variables determining the rate of technology adoption in agriculture were listed by Rogers (2003). These variables include perceived attributes of ... • 10. Brooks Target Audience I like this ad. I can see myself being in the model s shoes with ease. I find the tone of the headline (i.e. thank you conveniently located porta potty ) and delivery of the ad quite witty and cleverly executed. I sometimes feel intimidated and alienated by the hardcore athletes ridden in Nike ads as a dancer. I don t fall into the typical sports categories Nike targets so their models and athletes don t appeal to me. I am serious about dance, however, so I find that Brooks messaging and quality is a suitable middle ground for me. This leads to my discussion of the target audience, in which I believe I fall under as well. This ad appeals to the active, young female who would look at this ad and empathize with a smile (I specify female because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This light hearted ad is consistent with their overall brand image, brand personality, and other ads as their website features a running banana and what s been dubbed as the Brooks VIP Porta Potty which you can also find available at a number of races. They also emphasize the importance of the tech inside a shoe and their community is encouraged to share tips and advice to other runners. Impact Magazine, where this ad is found, is a serious fitness, performance, and sport magazine, is a little inconsistent with their overall image. Flipping through the magazine, all the other ads are much more serious and/or information intensive. As a result, however, Brooks ad stands out and grabs your attention. They were fighting for the flag that many of them were buried in. And yet, some people in your country enjoy burning it. The freedom to defend the flag from desecration by its enemies has been cruely removed. Flag desecration is a disrespectful expression to our nation and veterans. Flag desecration should be banned and illegal in all fifty states. Flag desecration became protected under the first amendment in 1989 in the case of Gregory Johnson. The Supreme Court, in the case of Gregory Johnson (1989), ruled that it was in fact constitutional to allow people to burn the flag, the evidence against this ruling is overwhelming. The Goonies follows the story of a group of misfits on a treasure hunt to save their home from foreclosure and Stand By Me is a writer s recount of the death of a friend and a boyhood journey to find the missing body of Ray Bowers. Narrativeperspective, sound, characterisation, camera angles, and symbolism, contribute to various themes which Donner and Reiner exploit to evoke supportive emotion for misfits. In diverse methods, both directors seek to engender support for their misfits by the pursuit of their stories through differing perspectives. Donner refrains from applying narration and solely relies on dialogue, conversely, Reiner reveals elements of his characters through the eyes of Gordie Lachance, in first person narration. The lack of narration in The Goonies allows a viewer to experience the journey of the misfits through a neutral and an unfiltered perspective. Donner exposes his viewers to the perspective of several characters, which provides him the opportunity to create characters which relate with the numerous circumstances and personalities of viewers. The connection a viewer feels towards a character, lulls them to view matters similarly. Dissimilarly, first person narration provides Reiner the opportunity to immerse his ... The cost of importing Jamaican rum was costlier than distilled liquor here in America. Again, at the time, the government was mostly dealing with the abolition of slavery and again the issues around alcohol consumption were minimally dealt with. Distilled spirits in earlier America was part of bringing Americans together during times of unity. It was a time to earn easy money and have an all around good time (pg. 354). • 32. Intimate Partner Violence Problem Statement Problem Statement Around the world, one in every three women has been coerced into having intercourse, beaten, or abused during some point in her lifetime (Domestic Violence Statistics, 2015). The topic that will be studied with the paper is intimate partner violence or another term that can be used is domestic violence. Domestic violence or intimate partner violence is the systematic pattern or control or power perpetuated by one partner against another (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, n.d.). Throughout the paper the term domestic violence and intimate violence will be used interchangeably. The misconception is that domestic violence or intimate partner violence is only between two people in a romantic relationship, but this is not so. Domestic violence includes, but is not limited to child abuse, elder and vulnerable adult abuse, spousal or partner abuse, and sibling violence (Can Fam Physician, 1999). This behavior can include but is not limited to sexual assault, intimidation, and physical assault (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, n.d.). Reports from 10 countries have shown that somewhere between 55 and 95 percent of women who experience physical abuse by a partner had never contacted the police, shelters, or other organizations for help (Domestic Violence Statistics, 2015). Intimate partner violence or also known as domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women including thefts, rapes, and car accidents combined (Domestic Violence ... There I was, sitting in my ordinary world, completing the same daily routine, school. I had psychology towards the end of the day, so I was mentally and physically exhausted. However, Coach McCoy was my favorite teacher, and she made Psychology very interesting for me. We recently discussed the chapter about disabilities and other impairments a person may face throughout a lifetime. After the lesson, my teacher mentioned a camp she volunteered at during the summer called Camp Abilities, the main goal of which is to aid children with visual impairments. The camp s motto read as A Loss of Sight, Never a Loss of Vision. Columbus State University sponsored the camp each Memorial Day weekend. The camp is open to all children with some sort of visual impairment from the ages of nine to eighteen. Immediately I was intrigued, and had a sudden urge to learn more about the camp itself. I knew instantaneously that I wanted to be involved in such a tremendous organization. I felt as if Coach McCoy s presentation about Camp Abilities was my call to the adventure of volunteering at the camp. Recent studies have found that controlling for other variables, significant predictors of opposition to a law banning interracial marriage include being non white, being younger, holding a liberal ideology, identifying as a democrat, having greater income, having a greater level of education, being less religious, and living outside of the South (Haider Markel and Joslyn 2005). For some of these predictors, theoretical explanations have been proposed. Various researchers have conducted investigations into the many aspects of this type of relationship and have concluded that an increase in interracial marriages has occurred. This increase may be the result of numerous factors, including the Supreme Court lifting of the legal restrictions on racial intermarriage in 1967, the decrease in White prejudice against Blacks, and the narrowing of the racial gap in education, income, and occupation (Kalmijn 1993). • 45. The Aviation Industry Impact The Environment One of the first things to know about the way the aviation industry impacts the environment is it is different from other sources of emissions. According to a FAA report, aircraft s btu/passenger mile (energy intensity) is 2,654 in 2012. This is an 24.3% improvement from the 3,505 btu /passenger miles in 2004. It is also improving faster compared to automobiles btu/passenger mile of 8.8% improvement (FAA, 2015). In aviation, most of its pollutants are distributed at high altitudes. However, this can still be hazardous to the environment because aircraft emissions above 3,000 feet can cause up to five times more health impacts than emissions below 3,000 (Steven Barrett, Ian A. Waitz, 2009 2010). A widely studied area in the impacts aviation has is researching air quality. There are two areas which have been getting a lot of attention and becoming more important relating to air quality. The first area is known as fine particulate matter (PM). PM is known as an air pollutant containing tiny particles floating in the air, sometimes creating a foggy, hazy look in the air. Compared to NOx, another compound found in emissions, PM is known to be a greater impact (Waitz, Townsend, Cutcher Gershenfeld, Greitzer, Kerrebrock, 2004). British publishers were leery about taking on the project entitled The Lord of the Rings. In comparison to their American counter parts the publishing company was relatively poor and feared losing money in the investment that was an adult follow up to a children s novel, that would be sold to an adult audience, at an adult price.(Grotta 113) The production was originally to be published in a large volume, rather than its actual printing in a three separate installments which included The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Taylor travelled to Indonesia, where she met with asylum seekers. A collection of the stories she heard were shaped into a documentary named, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2006). Taylor describes them as a deeply flawed organisation that does a very difficult job...an organisation that is definitely beholden to domestic politics . She hopes these personal stories the film tells will change negative attitudes to asylum seekers and, ultimately, government policy (Natasha Mitchell, 2013) I have heard news of 24 people killed when sent back to Afghanistan from Nauru (detention), voices yet another asylum ...
