Anthem Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Anthem Essay" can be quite challenging for several reasons.
Firstly, the subject matter itself requires a deep understanding of Ayn Rand's novella "Anthem,"
including its themes, characters, and the philosophy behind it. It demands careful analysis and
interpretation to craft a compelling and insightful essay.
Secondly, exploring the philosophical concepts presented in "Anthem" requires critical thinking
and the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively. The themes of individualism, collectivism,
freedom, and the role of society can be intricate and nuanced, making it challenging to address
them comprehensively in an essay.
Additionally, conveying personal interpretations and insights while staying true to the text can
be a delicate balance. It's essential to provide evidence from the text to support arguments and
interpretations, which requires a thorough understanding of the text itself.
Moreover, crafting a well-structured and coherent essay that flows logically and persuasively can
be demanding. This involves organizing thoughts, formulating a strong thesis statement, and
providing clear and coherent arguments supported by evidence from the text.
Lastly, ensuring clarity, coherence, and proper grammar and style adds another layer of difficulty
to the writing process. Attention to detail is crucial to avoid misunderstandings and effectively
convey ideas to the reader.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Anthem Essay" requires a combination of deep
comprehension of the text, critical thinking skills, the ability to articulate complex ideas, and
proficiency in academic writing. It's a challenging task that demands dedication, time, and effort
to execute effectively.

Dodge Tomedahawk
Dodge Tomahawk The Dodge Tomahawk was a concept car that was introduced
by the American motor company at the 2003 North American International Auto
Show. The concept car was a motorcycle that looks like a chrome version of
Batman s motorcycle in The Dark Knight. The car company made claims that the
motorcycle would be able to reach top speeds of 300 to 420 mile per hour. The
claims were debunked by various motorcycle and automotive media sources. Three
people bought the car but since it isn t street legal it s been called, Rolling Sculpture

English Settlers In The 17th Century Essay
In the 17th century, many English settlers immigrated out of England for various
reasons. Some seeked religious freedom, while others seeked wealth. They moved to
the New England region which consisted of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and
the New Jerseys, both East and West. They also moved to the Chesapeake region
which was made up of the MassachusettsBay Colony, Plymouth, Connecticut, Rhode
Island, and New Haven. Although these regions were both populated by english
settlers, they were more different than alike. These regions were different in
government establishments, in economy, and religious views. Yet their differences
allowed them to attract a diverse set of individuals, all depending on what they
wanted. In 1620, the Separatists that arrived in Plymouth wrote the Mayflower
Compact which was an agreement that all decisions concerning the government
would be made through the choice of the majority. Puritans who immigrated to the

Some wanted to expand Puritan belief and construct ideal Puritan communities. In
the Massachusetts Bay, political leaders were also religious leaders, like John
Winthrop. Settlers in this region took religion very seriously, and weren t very
tolerant with those who didn t follow their beliefs until the creation of the Act of
Toleration in Maryland. This created toleration with those who believed in Christ
and allowed for persecuted Catholics to settle in Maryland. Puritans also believed
in calvinism, which was the idea of predestination meaning everyone s destiny,
whether they re going to heaven or hell, was already chosen for them. However,
Pennsylvania was populated by Quakers who believed in inner light which was the
idea that God encouraged people to adopt a more optimistic view on humanity.
Quakers weren t as strict as the Puritans, they believed all acts were sacred if they

Assess the Potential of Three Sources of Renewable Energy...
After experiencing the replacement of manual and animal labour by steam engines
in the Industrial Revolution, cheap fossil fuels then became the main source of
energy. However, faced with the notable increase demand for energy, fossil fuel, as
a non renewable resource becomes scarcer and more expensive nowadays. To solve
this problem, the world needs to replace fossil fuels with other sources of energy
which are relatively low cost and more secure. Renewable energyis such a potential
energy. This essay will give an outline of three sources of renewable energy to be
used in developing nations, which are solar energy, wind powerand biomass. First, it
will give a definition of fossil fueland renewable energy, then it will move to analyse
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other developing nations such as Mexico, India, Egypt, etc are now making great
efforts. Admittedly, it will be worth an investment if the expense continues to fall
down to an acceptable extent, as predicted (Aringhoff et al, 2005; Seitz, 2002; and
Middleton, 2003).
As another renewable energy widely used, wind power, which is now mainly used
for generating electricity today, has been used for thousands of years powering
human activities. Unlike solar energy previously mentioned, wind is caused by the
uneven heating of the earth s surface by the sun so that wind energy is an indirect
form of solar energy (Volker, 2005). Wind is called a renewable energy source owing
to the infinite sun shines.
However, one crucial part of establishing a wind power system is high technology,
which is now the main defect in the developing world. Even in some developed
countries such as Demark, lack of expert engineers in the wind industry is noticeable.
It is convincingly argues that there is quite an engineering challenge especially for
the less developed nations to design an efficient wind turbine harnessing energy and
turning it into electricity. In addition, it seems rather a challenge to offer
opportunities for technology transfer, training and practical experience for the
industry and potential wind energy supporting industries and organisations for the
current developing world.
Contributions made by wind energy seem mainly to be the
Fabrication Lies In Propaganda
There are many types of lies. The numerous kinds helps one to describe a specific
sort with only a few words. This paper will examine more closely one of these types,
a fabrication. More precisely fabrication lies and their presence in propaganda, such
as in a pamphlet produced by The Flying Squadrons of Speakers .
Fabrication lies are most clearly defined as lies that could be true, but the one who
states them is not basing them on any real direct knowledge, they may also be a
falsification of the truth in a plausible way (1). What makes fabrication lies so
interesting then, is that if the fabrication is in actuality an accurate statement then the
one who stated the fabrication is not in fact lying despite their intent to mislead. The

The Flying Squadron of Speakers (FSS) was an organization of citizens formed after
the First World War to promote The American way through oratory propaganda. In
this paper a pamphlet produced by the FSS to attract new members will be analyzed.
The most titillating aspect of this pamphlet is that it is essentially a propaganda piece
promoting the need for more propaganda. Its xenophobic pages concentrate on
reminding its readers that the immigrant must learn how to be an American, and that
propaganda is the best way to do so.
The pamphlets most repeated fabrication is that all foreigners that have arrived on
the shores of America are completely ignorant of the way of the American, and thus
sow
Anti Americanisms, in particular Bolshevism and Communism (3, pg. 5). There can
be no doubt that some immigrants did do this, but to imply that all did is simply
inaccurate, a twisted but still plausible to those panicked enough, take on reality.
This example could also be classified as an exaggeration lie, however because no
evidence is cited to support the claim on the part of the FSS, it is clear that this
statement was made without any true knowledge of the situation, allowing this
statement to also fall under the category of falsification. In contradiction to this claim
only 0.038 percent of the population was a member of the Socialist Party of America
in 1919 when this pamphlet was published (4), (5). One could hardly claim that this
was an impending revolution as the FSS does. This suggests that the claims being
made in this pamphlet are uneducated, without any tangible base in the reality of the
Saving Grace
Not a Saving Grace Although society may think otherwise, saving students is not the
role of teachers, no matter how many good movies there are out there. The media
gives the impression that something is wrong with students when they enter the
classroom and that is is the teacher s job to fix them of their issues. Because of this
impression, today s teachers are faced with the challenge of overcoming this great
myth that has been engraved in society s mind. Teachers are meant to be a support
system for their students, not a saving grace. They are given the expectation to be a
superstar in the classroom because media portrays them to be just that; a hero.
What society doesn t always know, however, is that it can be hard enough to maintain
order in their classroom, let alone be the student s hero. The disconnection between
the public s expectations of teaching and what critics say is very profound. All too
often, movies lead parents to hold these hero like expectations to their child s
teacher. Dead Poet s Society directed by Peter Weir is a prime example of why the
public s expectations of teaching is disconnected from what critics like Ayers, Moore,
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They suggest that in order to be a good teacher, [they] have to be a hero (Moore).
Which in reality, is erroneous. Teachers are educators, not heroes. They come into the
classroom expecting to have a few troubled students, but they know that saving them
isn t the answer. Rather, they encourage them to work with the students individually
until the desired goals are met. Teachers do not see themselves as a saving grace
because they know that students do not need saving. What students need is a support
system that they can come to for help along the way to success. They also inspire
students to take on tasks they never thought imaginable. I want my students in the
hero role, not myself (Rickets) is the mindset that all educators should
World Religions In America Summary
In Neusner s book World Religions in America, Gerald James Larson explains what
the Hinduism is as a religion. He starts mentioning that the Indian population is the
second most populous nation in the world; it reached 1.3 billion people in 2008 and
that represents about 16% of the global population. Their country has twenty eight
states and seven Union Territories; it has eighteen official languages and Hindi is the
most common one. The ones who live outside their country are also considered Asian
Indians and they might be different but they are equally important. According to the
2000 U.S. Census, they represent the fourth largest asian community with about two

They have duties and responsibilities that are personal and also involve their society.
Taking care of their hygiene, of what they eat, their relations with their family,
spouses, friends and castes. Because of all these reasons, when facts about the indian
culture are mentioned, they involve their religion because they represent what an
Hindu should do and what Hinduism is about. Even though, there are significant
minorities that come from Asian Indian families but their religion is another one, like
being Buddhist or Muslim. Hinduism and the existence of these other religions inside
the Indian territory can be explained based on how Hinduism was developed in India.
Different from other major historic religions, Hinduism can t be traced directly to
someone as their founder and there is no information about when it appeared in
human history. Because of this Hinduism doesn t have a beginning, it just appears in
South Asia and its development is dense and complex. To be able to study the history

Effective project manager have the good competencies in human resource
management. They normally demonstrate a good ability to gain cooperation,
resolve the conflicts and influence others (Boyatzis, 1982; goodings, 1999, Potter,
2001). Normally in the team of a project, it consist of two subordinate; those who
are already in the company and those who have abilities that help on the project that
are working on and are temporary attached. It is very normal that these teams and
different working style and will have conflicts. A good leader will make constant
team building and discussion to resolve this. This is also another competencies
related to the leader which are the team building skills.
Delegating task is also a very vital part for a good project to be able to be complete
in the best quality and in time. In this, the project manager should demonstrate the
trust in others that the team feel like they participate in the task and discussion, the
leader delegate the work and controls it.
Time planning and budgeting also defines if the project managers are an effective
one or not. Projects have time limits and if the project manager cannot make sure
that the project finishes in time it is for sure that the cost for the project will be
much higher and cross the budget that it was supposed to be. Understanding the life

During some points, this season the Timberwolves were in games until the end. Let s
chalk it up to inexperience. How tough is it to play for such a young team?
We have to bring it every night. It seems like we er playing in the second half we re
just giving up leads. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the
will to win.
A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points
of the game. As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do
to kind of settle the young players down?
Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three,
instead of a two. We have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s
easy to talk about it now. It hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s
when veterans come in.
Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. I think
they won t make some errors that they make now. It s part of growing up. Do you
think once they get older they ll start to slow down?
I mean with experience you learn how to play close games, but like I said you need
the will to win, and play more

Penn later talked and negotiated with the Indians about the area and the land
around it. William Penn bought the land and the Indians agreed to all terms and
conditions. Penn named his new land Philadelphia. He wanted Philadelphia to be
the complete opposite of Europe. At the time Europe had very crowded and
congested streets. Penn found a way to fix that problem. He built the city on a grid
creating streets that intersected, not tangle with each other. Philadelphia was
originally founded to be the capital of Pennsylvania. The purpose of Philadelphia
was so that the citizens could be able to worship their God the way they wanted to.
It was founded on freedom to do what you want when you want. Philadelphia was

Coal Mining Is Destroying The Economy
From 2011 to 2014, five thousand eight hundred coal mining jobs have been
stopped for a period of time or closed for good. Coal is a black or dark brown
combustible mineral substance consisting of carbonized vegetable matter, used as
fuel for energy. That energy is for heating something or creating electricity. Coal
is a
very important resource; it provides billions of people with heat for their homes,
electricity for lights, great paying jobs, and many other things.
The fall of coal is not only killing jobs, it is also killing the economy. Coal is losing

can always be worse. As we settled in on the campground that was filled with
puddles and puddles of water all over the ground, we all realized that we had a long

everyone tried to procrastinate for as long as possible, discussing how terribly their

Augustus And Julius Caesar
It is very interesting that Augustus was a special emperor and leader in both
Roman Republic and Empire because he was the last Republic leader and he was
the first emperor. He was like a bridge or a construction politician, leader and
emperor between two regimes. But, how were the regimes according to his time
period? I need to focus on it before analyzing and evaluating Augustusand his doings.
Firstly, he was very clever that he got the ability to take advantage of every and each
situation regarding the state and political issues. It might be being one of Julius Caesar
s relatives that he was Augustus uncle at first, and then Caesar adopted him. Maybe,
he wanted to make real his step father s wish to change the regime gradually. His first
smart political movement was the second triumvirate s setting up to bring the State
back to the previous good years to govern. But, after ten years triumvirate, it had some
defects because of the members beneficial conflicts with one another, and then
Augustus confronted to Marcus Antonius and Marcus Aemilius Lepidus because of
their personal benefits and ambition, and he alone was most insistent that no one
should be spared... as Suetonius stated. He was not happy with the other two
triumvirs, and moreover, he was suspected on some of his generals, consul members,

Spring Awakening Play Theme
Spring Awakening is a rock musical set in late 19th century Germany. It follows the
lives of young teenagers (from fourteen to sixteen) as they navigate through the
turmoil of their teenage sexuality. The musical contains some explicitly mature
content and themes, such as sex, conception, erotic dreams, expressed desire for
physical intimacy, physical and sexual abuse, hitting, ambiguously consensual sex,
suicide, inappropriate language such as cursing, teenage pregnancy, masturbation, and
death caused by an incorrectly executed abortion. The musical is based off of the
play Spring Awakeningwritten by Frank Wedekind in the late 1800 s. At the time, it
was written for the purpose of commenting on how German culture revolved around
the purpose of oppressing young teenagers sexual desire and shaming those who
were curious about sexuality. The controversial and, at the time, problematic themes
were meant to act as a wake up call to those who forced ignorance of sexual
instruction on their children. This is the reason for the significance of the setting, at
the time Germany was focused on preventing children from becoming educated on
sex. As the characters grew up, this setting was a catalyst for the tragic events that
occurred in the wake of the children being poorly informed on sex, pregnancy, and
the cause of their sexual desires. While the musical adapted from the original play
does not contain the same social commentary, the harshness of the message is still
evident.
Determination Of Flowering In Arabaliana
Affects of Vernalization Length on the Flowering of Arabidopsis thaliana
Background information
The flowering of plants is a tightly controlled process and flowering at the wrong
time could cause detrimental problems for a plant, especially if it were to flower too
early in the season. There are both environment and genetic factors that can influence
flowering in Arabidopsis thaliana. In the winter annual A. thaliana, environmental
factors affect the gene expression of Flowering Locus C (FLC) (Michaels, et al.,
2006). Environmental factors include the quality and quantity of light and
vernalization, which is the promotion of flowering due to cold temperatures
(Balasubramanian et al., 2006). Genetic factors include FRIGIDA (FRI), flowering ...

Solution Of Homelessness In Canada
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (Henry et
al., 2016), over 500,000 people were homeless in the United States on one given
night in January 2016. The Canadian Observatory on Homelessness reported that
35,000 people were homeless in Canada around the same time and that at least
235,000 Canadians experience homelessnessat some point in a year (Gaetz et al.,
2016).
Although both the U.S. and Canada have made some effort toward reducing and
ending homelessness, it clearly still remains a serious problem in both countries.
While some communities, such as New Orleans and Bergen County in the U.S. and
Medicine Hat in Canada, have made headlines for making significant progress toward
ending homelessness, far more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As homelessness became a larger issue in the country, the federal government began
to pay more attention to it. In 1987, Congress passed the Stewart B. McKinney
Homeless Assistance Act, which provided funding for emergency food and shelter
programs specifically designed for the homeless (Padgett et al., 2016). The Act also
created the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), which was
largely inactive until 2002 (Padgett et al., 2016). At this point, federal homelessness
policy managed homelessness by providing shelters and other short term solutions, as
opposed to preventing homelessness and actually getting people off the street.
Despite millions of dollars from Congress funding services for the homeless,
homelessness did not decrease in he U.S. during the 1980s or 1990s. Since then, an
ideology known as Housing First has come into popularity, which will be elaborated
on in the literature review section. The National Alliance to End Homelessness
(NAEH) defines Housing First as a homeless assistance approach that prioritizes
providing people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as quickly as
possible and then providing voluntary supportive services as needed ( Housing First

Electrochemical Cells Lab Essay
Determination of an Electrochemical Series In electrochemistry, a voltaic cell is a
specially prepared system in which an oxidation reduction reaction occurs
spontaneously. This spontaneous reaction produces an easily measured electrical
potential which has a positive value. Voltaic cells have a variety of uses and you
commonly refer to them as a battery . Half cells are normally produced by placing a
piece of metal into a solution containing a cation of the metal (e.g., Cu metal in a
solution of a soluble salt that releases Cu2+ or Cu+ into solution). In this micro
version of a voltaic cell, the half cell will be a small piece of metal placed into three
drops of a solution on a piece of filter paper. The solution contains a cation of... Show

Be sure that there is a continuous trail of sodium or potassium nitrate between
each circle and the center. You may have to periodically dampen the filter paper
with sodium or potassium nitrate during the experiment. CAUTION: Handle these
solutions with care. Some are poisonous and some cause hard to remove stains. If
a spill occurs, tell your instructor. 6. Measure the potential of the first cell by
connecting M1 to M2. This is done by bringing the positive terminal or lead of the
voltmeter into contact with M1 (copper) and the negative terminal in contact with
the other metal M2. If the voltage displayed in the meter is negative, then reverse
the terminals. Recall that the + terminal is the cathode and that reduction takes
place there, thus you are measuring oxidation potentials and will need to change
their sign to report them as reduction potentials in Data Table 2. 7. With a positive
voltage displayed, wait about five seconds to take a voltage reading and record the
value in DATA TABLE 1. Be sure to press down on the metal piece in order to
make good contact. Also record which metal is the positive terminal and which is
negative. Use the same procedure to measure the potential of the other three cells ,
M1 to M3, M1 to M4, and M1 to M5, continuing to use M1 (copper) as the reference
electrode, thus it remains connected to the positive terminal of the voltmeter and

Knute Rockne, a former football coach for the University of Notre Dame once
said, Win or lose, do it fairly. However, in Mark Twain s story The Celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, the main character, otherwise known as Smiley,
does not live by this saying. The story of Smiley and his celebrated jumping frog
takes place in a gold mining camp, which is located in Calaveras County, California,
during the Gold Rush era. The dominant theme in The Celebrated Jumping Frog of
Calaveras County, is that trying to deceive someone can result in unexpected
consequences. Several literary devices, including characters, satire, and diction, are

The prominent choices of diction which appear on the first page of Twain s short
story, some examples include, lurking suspicion and he backed me into a corner
and blockaded me with his chair. . The diction helps foreshadow the deception that
occurs later on in the story; furthermore, the choice of diction suggests intelligence,
which means that someone of higher intelligence is foreshadowed to try and
deceive someone of lower intelligence despite the fact there are consequences. The
dialogue of Smiley being accounted by Simon Wheezler, he ketched a frog one
day and took him home and said he cal klated to edercate him (Twain 3), contains
diction that emphasizes the lack of a formal education. By using diction that
suggests lack of intelligence and education, Twain is able to use the theme of
deception ending with unexpected consequences to showcase that probability that
people with lower intelligence have a hard time learning of their mistakes,
especially when deceived. The final example of diction, well I don t see no p ints
about that frog that s any better n any other frog, (Twain 4), highlights another
person with a lack of education, but this person has more intelligence or at least more
awareness than the people Smiley usually tricks, which will eventually make it harder
for Smiley to deceive him; thus, being unable to deceive him means
Sexual Assault Policies Essay
Many universities across the United States have reformed their sexual assault
policies. Their new policies provide a clear understanding as to what qualifies as
sexual assault. Opponents claimed that affirmative consent policies are impractical
and ineffective ( Sexual Assault ). For consenting couples, anxiety over meeting the
new standard will make sex joyless and add confusion and complications ( Sexual
Assault). On the other hand, supporters argued that no means no did not cover all
possible sexual assault scenarios ( Sexual Assault ). Therefore, states adopted a yes
means yes policy ( Sexual Assault ). California s efforts marked the first time this
policy was codified by a law ( Sexual Assault ). The legislation requires colleges...

Colleges and universities often do not execute strict punishments when it comes to
sexual assault on campus. The police, prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, and
juries do not always view date rape as a serious offense (Neumann). Until government
officials consider rape a significant violation when compared to other major crimes,
colleges and universities will not establish sterner punishments for rapists. Colleges
and universities also tend to diminish their punishments for the star athletes at the
school. One study concluded that while athletes constitute 3.3% of the college
population, they perpetrate 19% of all sexual assaults on campus (Ajo). Although
male athletes commit multiple sexual assault crimes on campus, they are punished
leniently. Researchers contend that when sexual assault crimes are committed by
athletes, society fails to label the act a crime and does not impose harsh sanctions
(Ajo). In fact, many boosters come to the defense of the team they so love (Ajo). In
order to discourage college students from committing sexual assault crimes, harsher
punishments need to be set in place. If the consequences for students actions
intensified, the number of sexual assault cases executed on college campuses would
decrease. Rape needs to be considered a serious offense in order for victims of sexual
assault cases to attain

Why Is Beowulf Still Relevant Today
The Importance of Beowulf in Modern America By Jennifer Carley Modern culture
and literature include many stories of great heroes and fictional adventures. Many
people grow up reading about these great adventures and looking up to the heroes of
the stories. Heroes are great roll models because they are portrayed as courageous and
trustworthy individuals, two very admirable qualities. Despite numerous cultural and
technological advancements, life in modern America continues to bear resemblance
to the Anglo Saxon world of the hero Beowulf. The poem Beowulf, though written
many centuries ago, still contains the same universal themes of any great action

A closer look, however, reveals a striking similarity between that code and today s
work place. A lord or the modern day boss chooses the best thanes/workers in the
land through their experience in battle or a resume of previous employment. For
example, when Beowulf first arrives in the Shieldings country (ll. 277) he tells
King Hrothgar all about his past triumphs in order to gain the King s approval to be
one of his warriors. Once a contractual agreement is established, the lord/boss
provides his thanes/employees with a share of his wealth/salaries. King Hrothgar
states that, Holy God has, in His goodness, guided [Beowulf] here to the West Danes,
the defend us from Grendel. This is my hope; and for his heroism I will recompense
him with a rich treasure (ll. 381 385). In return, a thane/employee promises to
remain loyal to his lord/boss, ready to die in battle or at the office, finishing a
project before a deadline. If a battle is won or a deal is closed, an ideal lord/boss,
whose greatest characteristic is generosity, will divide the treasure among his
thanes, or award a big bonus check to his employees. When Beowulf Carley 4
defeats Grendel, the Halfdane s son present[s] Beowulf with a gold standard as a
victory gift (ll. 1019 1020). On the other hand, a violation of the agreement results in
the exile/firing of the thane/employee, and a loss of livelihood followed by shame

City of Thieves by David Bienoff
City of Thieves starts off with Lev Beniov sitting atop his roof, on a firefighting
detail, under the German siege of Leningrad in Kirov, Russia. As he sits on top of
his building s roof with his friends Vera Osiponva, and the Antokolsky twins they
listen to anti aircraft fire, and they see a paratrooper falling to the ground. The
group hops the Kirov gate, and runs towards the paratrooper s landing sight,
realizing he is drifting to the ground dead. They began looting his body, and as Lev
got a German knife from the man, the GAZ turned on Voinova Street, and they had
to run. While running back to Kirov, Vera slipped, and Lev had to go and get her.
As he helped her over the fence, the GAZ grabbed him. Since it was after curfew,
he believed execution was inevitable. He was taken to Piter s prison called the
Crosses with no light or sound. Soon, a Russian officer named Kolya was thrown
in the cell with him. In the morning, the two prisoners were taken to a mansion
with NKVD officers in it. The Colonel had a mission for the prisoners. He took
their ration cards, and told Kolya and Lev they had until Thursday to get one
dozen eggs. On that Saturday morning, Kolya and Lev had left their lives on the
line for a dozen eggs. The middle of this novel begins when Kolya tells Lev that
they should try looking in the Haymarket for any eggs. They searched through the
Haymarket, and they find nothing. As they reach the end of their search, a boy tells
them of a man who keeps a coop of
Southern Road Dichotomy
INTRODUCTION
At the heart of the protest poetry that pervaded the Harlem Renaissance was the
employment of blues as a mode through which poets expressed themselves. Blues
literature was a creative outlet for African Americans by serving as a medium through
which they could describe the travails that they had to face on a daily basis such as
inner city living, denial of citizenship, unemployment, and lynching (Harris).
Therefore, a strong relationship between the blues and protest literature formed
during the Harlem Renaissance and began to intensify as the movement reached its
end in the 1940s (Walker). Southern Road, Sterling Brown s seminal collection of
blues poems published during the middle of the Harlem Renaissance in 1932, provides

He even goes on to argue that it is a sound generalization to say that three fourths of
the total output [of Negro Renaissance poetry ] is avowedly racial in inspiration
and social objective (Locke 242). The blues serves as a viable mode through which
protest poetry can be written because it portrays the brutal treatment of African
Americans unflinchingly in order to appeal to the emotions of poetry readers
(Harris). After all, according to Trudier Harris, Professor of English at the University
of North Carolina and National Humanities Center Fellow, African American poetry
can only be effective if it attempts to achieve the acceptance of black people into the
larger American politic (Harris). If it fails to do that, then it fails in its purpose of
being a work of protest literature by lacking a target. Analyzing Southern Road and
Children s Children through the lens of the blues critic requires that the critic
understands how the factors that determine whether a poem is a work of blues poetry
come together to establish a target for criticism in a protest poem. Upon

This increase in temperature increases chemical and biological activity by double.
Therefore, organic material brakes down at a faster rate on a clearcut. This then
increases the fertility and nutrients in the soil. However, it also increases nutrient
release into the streams. This increase in nutrients only last around seven years
(page 53 and 54). Keeping slash (branches from trees) after a clearcut also helps
protect the soil from erosion and compaction. The slash shields the soil from direct
impact of raindrops which during a moderate rainfall each drop applies 20.7 foot
pounds per square foot (57). This amount of force will detach and loosen soil
particles making them more prone to be washed away. Most unacceptable erosion
occurs on skid and truck roads. But, by following the BMP to road construction this

Poetry Analysis Of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks
Poetry Analysis of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks
We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of
teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences
that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the
poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered
her works predominately around the African Americanconsciousness. During the
1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American
men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the
surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are
misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer
pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect
between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever
people gather together and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to
its effects and often experience it because, of shared experiences or they share the
same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough
influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual
is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know
that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real
Cool. In the opening lines of the poem, the reader

The interior and exterior features set these types of buildings apart from others.
The City Hall serves as a control institution in the city of West Des Moines,
managing many areas of importance. Buildings, like this, are where a sort of elite
power controls some sort of economic, social, or political role in society. Therefore,
a structure like this is classified as a centralized source of power in the community.
Architecture under this category typically holds structural uniformity, is surrounded
by flagpoles, has organized landscape directing to the main entrance, and water
features. The West Des Moines city hall has all of these common features included
presence that is similarly found in other governmental connected architectural
structures. Outside of the West Des Moines City Hall, there are three specific flag
poles to signify West Des Moines (on the left), The United States (in the middle), and
the State of Iowa (on the right). Looking at the flags that appear near the entrance
help recognize that this building as an important structure in not only Iowa but West
Des Moines community itself. Meanwhile, the building itself has a focal point
entrance, with symmetrical characteristics. Centralized control within this type of
economic organization requires software, security, systematic arrangement, record
keeping, and uniformity found in the architectural composition. The key elements
associated with the interior aspects of the City Hall structure primarily deals with
record keeping to ensure an organized system. Office spaces, filing cabinets, and a
multitude of technological devices are necessary to have throughout the entire

Socioeconomic Status and Health Issues
Socioeconomic status (a measurement of income, education, and occupation)
measures an individual s social standing in society. Low socioeconomic status is often
linked to a depravity of essential material resources and heightened psychological
stress variables. The importance of researching the effects is underlined by its
association to a number of adverse health effects and the increasing prevalence of
poverty within many countries in the world. Recent studies have investigated the
possible effects on the biological mechanisms by examining the differences in
epigenetic patterns between individuals with variability in socioeconomic status.
Although there have been limited studies conducted on this area, research has
determined that the status of socioeconomic often has a significant impact on
methylation, with an increase or decrease in certain sections of the genome
depending on the region in question.
Introduction
Socioeconomic status is the combination of income, education and occupation which
typically measures the social standing of an individual in a society [3]. The potential
impact of socioeconomic status is vital as it affects a significant percent of
Canadians. According to the Employment and Social Development Canada (2006),
poverty affects approximately twelve percent of adults and thirteen percent of
children. The gap between the rich and poor has significantly increased within the
past few decades and research suggests that it will

society experiences. Gogol documents the main character Chichkov and the
recurring dilemma of exposing the society and its residents for the the cynical and
malicious people they are. In reaching an understanding of the perspective the
people are experiencing and realizing that our society is eerily similar to the
society in the novel. An example of this is when Gogol states, Every man who has

In doing so Chichkov determined that he had to make a change in the society
himself . Chichkov humors the idea that if one does not change the corrupt society
than who will? In questioning who will help to break away from the social
enslavement in the novel Chichkov has a call to action and determines that he has
to make the change that the society so likely desires. Gogol states, You can t
imagine how stupid the whole world has grown nowadays. Which shows how
Gogol injects his viewpoints of society into the Chichkov s character and his
viewpoints and opinions of society. By Chichkov stating how stupid the world is it
show how he has refrained from offending people and is more determined to change
what is wrong with the society. Although the reocurring social enslavement
throughout the novel Gogol also introduces the personalized viewpoint of how
social classes ultimately defines and classifies us. He conveys the message and the
idea of this through Chichkov s character and his specific and unbiased ideas. Gogol

but they have also made it less liberal. (Zakaria, 108) Even today, India s Prime
Minister is the leader of the major party in alliance. Due to the multiple numbers of
political parties, not one single party has been able to secure a permanent seat in the
parliament. India consists of a diverse majority of cultures, ethnicities, and religions
due to its large population. Multiple parties allow people to choose a party that best
fits an individual s views and beliefs. The government has policies that lean towards
the more neutral and moderate side, rather than a more liberal and conservative
environment similar to what we see more often in the United States. The United
States of America has a two party system where only two parties compete for a seat
in the legislative, The Democrats and The Republicans. Democrats are more liberal
compared to the Republicans who are more conservative and have opposing views

King Lear by William Shakespeare
Blindness is a theme that we see throughout King Lear in many characters
including King Lear, Gloucester and Albany. Although blindness is a theme it is
also a psychological metaphor and can be defined as not having sight.2 Shakespeare
forces us to see that being blind is a mental flaw just as much as it is a physical flaw.
Lear is not only metaphorically blind but is also blind toward nastiness and loyalty .
We see Gloucester s blindness in more literal terms as he is literally blind but he can
still see, and Albany has a more common form of blindness, as he is blind to his wife.
These characters are only able to see after a tragic loss.
However the person in the play that is more significantly blind is King Lear. His role
was to distinguish between good and evil, but due to his in ability to see he is not
able to do just so. Lear s first encounter with blindness was at the beginning of the
play when he was fooled by his two older daughters lies and was not able to see the
true love that Cordelia had for him, resulting in King Lear banishing her from his
kingdom. As shown in the play for we have no such daughter, nor shall ever see that
face again. Therefore be gone without our grace, our love, our benison (1.1. 265
267).3
King Lear s blindness also lead to the banishing of Kent, because Kent saw the true
love Cordelia had for her father and was trying to protect her from his irrationality.
Kent then disguised himself and was hired as a servant by King Lear. This proves
Drake College Campus Environment
Drake s campus is located on a 150 acre property in Polk County and is
approximately 5 miles from the center of Des Moines, Iowa. The campus has 84
buildings, 35 associated parking lots and is interspersed with sidewalks, multiple
green spaces and commons that are consistently maintained by the grounds team. The
campus has impermeable and permeable surfaces as Table 1 demonstrates. Drake
currently has two new buildings under construction that will further increase the
number of impermeable surfaces on campus, and it is expected the number of
impermeable surfaces will continue to grow as the campus grows. Topographically,
the campus is slightly sloped, with the north end of campus at a lower elevation than
the south. Often during large or sustained precipitation events runoff tends to pool
near the campus s reflecting pool,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Natural habitat is limited on campus to a small tallgrass prairie plot that was
established in the mid 2000s. That area is used as a teaching space for many
environmental science classes and is maintained through yearly burnings. Otherwise,
the campus commons are dominated by lawn grasses that receive routine mowing
and aeration. The campus has the most concentrated greenspace in the surrounding
neighborhood, which is dominated my roads, residential and commercial areas
that are principally impermeable. Thus, the precipitations that does fall on the
green spaces of campus percolates into the ground or runoffs into either a Drake or
city of Des Moines owned drainage pipe. Moreover, precipitation that falls onto one
of the campus s roofs or parking lots typically flows directly into drainage pipes.
Some of these drainage pipes flow directly into a ravine that has a stream. The stream
is approximately two blocks north of the campus behind the Tennis Center Field
between 27th and 24th Street and eventually joins with the Des Moines
What Is No More Soda Essay
No more soda What does health mean to me? What health means to me is the well
being of your body. Everybody has to maintain a good diet so we can be healthy. If
we don t take care of our body s when we are young, our life expectancy will
decrease. Soda dehydrates the body and over a long period of time it may cause
chronic dehydration. It is also bad for our teeths, a research done showed that
drinking soda regulary may cause cavities and gum disease. One of the things that I
have been wanting to change for a really long time is to stop drinking less soda or
completely stop drinking it. Drinking soda can lead to a lot of life threatening
diseases later on in life. The sooner we become conscious of the seriousness that soda
brings the better we take care of ourselves. Soda is really bad for our bodies and
drinking less of it can help us. Soda has been linked... Show more content on

Obesity is the cause of some of the heart diseases that kill people. A research done
in Harvard found out that people who drink soda daily their risk of obesity
increases 1.6 times. Another study also found out that those who didn t drink soda
daily reduced their risk of becoming obesed. Diabities is a very common disease
now a days affecting millions of people worldwide. Since soda can make us insulin
resistance it is no surpise that it is linked with diabities. It has been shown that just
one can of soda a day increases your risks of getting type 2 diabities. This is
because all of the sugar that just a single can of soda has. Stopping drinking soda
can decrease your chances of getting these diseases. This behavior change is also
not just affecting me, its affecting the people that are around me. It affects them
because they watch me not drink soda and they might do the same. Since im doing
this for the better of my body I will encorage that people that are around me to take
action and do the same. To take the challenge and dont drink no more
Nationalism in Europe in the 19th century Essay
Nationalism is way of thinking both political and socially to create a community
united by: history, ethnicity, religions, common culture, and language. Numerous
effects occurred while establishing a Nationalist community, some effects were a long
term impact on Nationalism, and other was short term impacts on Nationalism.
Bloody Sunday was a big impact of Nationalism, what started out as a peaceful
march of Petersburg workers marching to the Winter Palace led by Father Gapon
turned out to be a nightmare. The marchers wanted to establish an eight hour work
day, establish minimum wage, and assemble a constitution, while the marchers
marched they was fired upon by Russian troops and several hundred marchers was
killed. People believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Piedmont s Victor Emmanuel was declared the kingdom of Italy and unification was
completed at the end of the Franco Prussian War in 1871.
A long term impact of Nationalism was an essay from Giuseppe Mazzini On the
Duties of Man , it was written for the workers residing in England. Mazzini
preaches toward humanity, and believes that if you are not ready to violate your
law of life then you are not ready to become a whole human family. The biggest
impact the Nationalism was the redrawing of the map of Europe. Mazzini s
believed that Europe was jealous of righteous powers of others and greed took
over. There was much conflict and fighting to settle the new territories of Europe.
The reason that the redrawing of the map of Europe was such a big impact on
Nationalism is because the boundaries of Europe still hold true today. Mazzini was a
leader of the Roman Republic was failed, and began to look for leadership some else
besides Italy. Another long term impact of Nationalism was the Frankfurt
Constitution, this was a long and detailed document, and it entailed the boundaries of
Germany and its enforcement of its provisions, and was written for all of Germany,
which was mostly consisted of Liberals. Examples of the Frankfurt Constitution
are: All Germans are treated equal before the law, all special class privileges are
abolished, no citizen shall accept a decoration from a foreign state, and Public office
shall be open to all men on the basis
The Effect Of Strain Gauge Rosette Used For Multi
Channel...
Abstract While calculating the results from the collected data, the thin plate shows
non linear behaviour such that stress does not vary linearly with strain. In theory
when pressure is concentrated at the centre of a circular plate, stress value decreases
with respect to increasing radial distance from the centre. However in this case, we
see that there are two principal stresses and they behave differently than one another.
This experiment will introduce us to a new strain gauge called strain gauge rosette
used for multi channel strain measurement and other equations to calculate principal
stresses and strains in a two dimensional state. Introduction For a thin circular plate,
stress and strain usually occur in a two dimensional state. As it is difficult to measure
stress, strains are instead measured in real life practices and its corresponding stress
values are calculated. The most popular measuring tool for strain is the strain gauge.
Since strain is the measure of change in displacement over the original dimension of a
structure, the measuring tool must be sensitive enough to detect that small change in
displacement. Thus, we can learn how to handle sensitive measuring equipment and
ways to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible and also to omit any
errors that will affect the final calculation. Besides that, we can broaden our
knowledge on multi channel strain measurements because in reality two dimensional
strains are not

By merging its resources, Google makes some exceptionally powerful capabilities.
Adaptability, snappy reaction and speed of disseminating the data are delivered by
the mix of colossal information base, with the exceedingly propelled programming.
These capacities are key since they can t be duplicated effectively. Another central
capability of Google is creative and successful human resource management. This is
additionally a result of good leadership with very gifted and particularly trained staff.
Moreover, the blend of human resources with the product and innovations has the
Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
The importance of the symbolism of madness in Allen Ginsberg s Howl.
The theme of madness is vital in Allen Ginsberg s Howl, as a poem written by a
young voice with the purpose to intentionally shock audiences. It presents views of
insanity and madness as both tragically victimizing the talented young minds of
America, causing the straight cut society to oppress and restrain their creativity in
psychiatric hospitals; but also as a sort of liberation, allowing the artist to connect to
their creativity in a way that the sane are unable to. In Howl, the lines between true
madness, inspired madness, and drug induced madness, are significantly blurred.
Ginsberg lived to shock the masses through his poetry; as a gay man from Jewish
parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ginsberg viewed Solomon as a creative genius, whose artistic nature was
subsequently repressed by the staff of the psychiatric hospital. In Howl, this is
presented as an extended metaphor the oppressors in white coats becoming
oppressors of the entirety of the younger generation of the time. There is a strikingly
demonized view of doctors and psychiatrists in the poem, which is highly reflective
of the brutal methods used in psychiatric treatment in the early 20th century;
Ginsberg references lobotomies and insulin shock therapy, which were most
commonly used in the treatment of schizophrenia. They were intensely feared by
patients, the procedures were painful and often traumatic. Ginsberg appears to
relate this in a metaphorical sense to the injustices of the education system; how the
creativity in the young is lobotomised out of them as if it were a kind of
debilitating disease, conveyed in the line towards the end of the poem; who threw
potato salad at CCNY lecturers in Dadaism and subsequently presented themselves
on the granite steps of the madhouse with shaven heads and harlequin speech of
suicide, demanding instantaneous lobotomy. This line also appears to relate back to
the first line of the poem; I have seen the best minds of my generation destroyed by
madness, starving hysterical naked. The syntax is muddled and conveys a sense of
madness in and of itself, which may be implying that the
How Did Edgar Degas Paint The Ballerinas
Edgar Degas was making drawing of the ballerinas and dancers in 19th century.
French artist Edgar Degas created hundreds of artworks that captured the ballet
world of 19th century Paris. Degas regularly went to the Palais Garnier Opera House
to observe the ballerinas. His focus was on their natural movement as they practiced.
Exploring the way the dancers bodies flowed through performance. Edgar showed a
talent for drawingwhile young and wanted to become and artist. Edgar spent a lot
of time at the louvre a famous art museum in Paris. He loved paint the dancers
practicing. He wanted to capture their energy, hard work and effort .He copied many
of the masterpieces of classical artists. Most people know Degas as the painter of

Kudler Fine Foods founder and manager, Kathy Kulder, has requested information on
developing a system to track customer purchases through a Frequent Shopper Program
. This Program will award loyalty points for redemption to repeat customers.
Purchases made by customers whom participate in the program will be tracked and
converted into loyalty points for redemption for future purchase, gift items, and other
products or services made possible through partnerships with external companies. The

Halagera also goes on to say A 2% increase in customer retention has the same
effect on profits as cutting costs by 10%. (Halagera, n.d.). This shows that keeping
customers returning to Kulder Foods will increase business. The Frequent Buyer
Program will promote repeat buisness in Kulder Foods and will aid in profit
increase, so long as the customer is satisfied with Kulder s Foods products and
services. Although there are a lot of upsides to the Frequent Shopper Program, there
are also concerns that Kulder Foods will have to take into account.
The overall cost for the Frequent Buyers Programs must be monitored consistently by
Kulder Foods. Kulder must ensure that redemption estimates are perceived higher to
the customer than actual cost to Kulder(MTI Market Techniques and Innovations
Inc., n.d.). As well as ensuring redemption is cost effective, Kulder will also have to
make sure points are realistic and appealing to customers. Customers must feel as if
these points are attainable, and easily usable. This will help keep customers interested
and keep them using the program.
Kulder Fine Foods will see increased profit with a Frequent Shoppers Program. It will
undoubtably help with repeat business and customer loyalty. To keep the Frequent
Shoppers Program running smoothly, Kulder will have to ensure that it stays up to
date with customers information and shopping data. Kulder Foods must also ensure
they will keep customers
The Pros And Cons Of Cheating
Cheating is more common in schools nowadays than teachers think. According to a
study done by Donald McCabe, 64 percent of students admitted to cheating on a test,
58 percent admitted to plagiarism and 95 percent said they participated in some form
of cheating, whether it was on a test, plagiarism or copying homework . There are
various ways to cheat. Whether it be looking at another student s paper during a test
or getting someone to send their homework answers, students do it constantly. The
school can not catch everyone that cheats and students are so desperate to maintain a
good GPA that cheatingis not seen as something bad in student s eyes. The way that
the school system is now is students would rather do whatever it takes to make a
good grade than to learn the material. It is not just one specific grade of students
that cheat or one particular group that does either. Cheating ranges from freshmen
to seniors and various different school organizations that students are involved in.
I have seen kids on the football team send screenshots of their math homework and
even students in IB classes do the same exact thing. Every kid has a different
reason for cheating, but they all connect to the same thing which is trying to make
a good grade. Some students may be too lazy to do their own homework and have a
friend that is willing to send them the homework answers every night. All they have
to do is copy the answers down and they make a perfect grade

Every century has its own poetry; poetry has its own personality and
aspects, especially love poems. In the sixteenth century, poems about
love were more about the court than the lover. In the next century (the
seventeenth), the poems of love were more about courting the lover. An
author from the sixteenth century, Sir ThomasWyatt the Elder, is well
known for his lyrics pertaining to love. An author from the seventeenth
century is John Donne, who is most famous for his love poetry. When

  • 3. Dodge Tomedahawk Dodge Tomahawk The Dodge Tomahawk was a concept car that was introduced by the American motor company at the 2003 North American International Auto Show. The concept car was a motorcycle that looks like a chrome version of Batman s motorcycle in The Dark Knight. The car company made claims that the motorcycle would be able to reach top speeds of 300 to 420 mile per hour. The claims were debunked by various motorcycle and automotive media sources. Three people bought the car but since it isn t street legal it s been called, Rolling Sculpture . The power and style of the car ended up creating a massive brand boost which some speculate was the intention of the car, to begin with. It was said that the ad could even be seen from space. The world record breaking ad was removed just a year later but the stunt had already accomplished what it needed to. Red Bull Stratos The Red Bull Stratos is one of the most well known marketing stunts in history. The event happened in 2012 exactly 65 years after the sound barrier was first broken by Chuck Yeager. Red Bull flew skydiver Felix Baumgartner 24 miles into the stratosphere breaking the record for highest altitude jump in history and allowed him to break the speed of sound without power from an engine. The jump only lasted 10 minutes. The event gave the company mass attention and it was hardly the last time that the brand pulled a stunt like this. Hands Across
  • 4. English Settlers In The 17th Century Essay In the 17th century, many English settlers immigrated out of England for various reasons. Some seeked religious freedom, while others seeked wealth. They moved to the New England region which consisted of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and the New Jerseys, both East and West. They also moved to the Chesapeake region which was made up of the MassachusettsBay Colony, Plymouth, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Haven. Although these regions were both populated by english settlers, they were more different than alike. These regions were different in government establishments, in economy, and religious views. Yet their differences allowed them to attract a diverse set of individuals, all depending on what they wanted. In 1620, the Separatists that arrived in Plymouth wrote the Mayflower Compact which was an agreement that all decisions concerning the government would be made through the choice of the majority. In the Massachusetts Bay, political leaders were also religious leaders, like John Winthrop. Settlers in this region took religion very seriously, and weren t very tolerant with those who didn t follow their beliefs until the creation of the Act of Toleration in Maryland. This created toleration with those who believed in Christ and allowed for persecuted Catholics to settle in Maryland. Puritans also believed in calvinism, which was the idea of predestination meaning everyone s destiny, whether they re going to heaven or hell, was already chosen for them. However, Pennsylvania was populated by Quakers who believed in inner light which was the idea that God encouraged people to adopt a more optimistic view on humanity. Quakers weren t as strict as the Puritans, they believed all acts were sacred if they were committed to
  • 5. Assess the Potential of Three Sources of Renewable Energy... After experiencing the replacement of manual and animal labour by steam engines in the Industrial Revolution, cheap fossil fuels then became the main source of energy. However, faced with the notable increase demand for energy, fossil fuel, as a non renewable resource becomes scarcer and more expensive nowadays. To solve this problem, the world needs to replace fossil fuels with other sources of energy which are relatively low cost and more secure. Renewable energyis such a potential energy. This essay will give an outline of three sources of renewable energy to be used in developing nations, which are solar energy, wind powerand biomass. First, it will give a definition of fossil fueland renewable energy, then it will move to analyse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other developing nations such as Mexico, India, Egypt, etc are now making great efforts. Admittedly, it will be worth an investment if the expense continues to fall down to an acceptable extent, as predicted (Aringhoff et al, 2005; Seitz, 2002; and Middleton, 2003). As another renewable energy widely used, wind power, which is now mainly used for generating electricity today, has been used for thousands of years powering human activities. Unlike solar energy previously mentioned, wind is caused by the uneven heating of the earth s surface by the sun so that wind energy is an indirect form of solar energy (Volker, 2005). Wind is called a renewable energy source owing to the infinite sun shines. However, one crucial part of establishing a wind power system is high technology, which is now the main defect in the developing world. Even in some developed countries such as Demark, lack of expert engineers in the wind industry is noticeable. It is convincingly argues that there is quite an engineering challenge especially for the less developed nations to design an efficient wind turbine harnessing energy and turning it into electricity. In addition, it seems rather a challenge to offer opportunities for technology transfer, training and practical experience for the industry and potential wind energy supporting industries and organisations for the current developing world. Contributions made by wind energy seem mainly to be the
  • 6. Fabrication Lies In Propaganda There are many types of lies. The numerous kinds helps one to describe a specific sort with only a few words. This paper will examine more closely one of these types, a fabrication. More precisely fabrication lies and their presence in propaganda, such as in a pamphlet produced by The Flying Squadrons of Speakers . Fabrication lies are most clearly defined as lies that could be true, but the one who states them is not basing them on any real direct knowledge, they may also be a falsification of the truth in a plausible way (1). What makes fabrication lies so interesting then, is that if the fabrication is in actuality an accurate statement then the one who stated the fabrication is not in fact lying despite their intent to mislead. The definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Flying Squadron of Speakers (FSS) was an organization of citizens formed after the First World War to promote The American way through oratory propaganda. In this paper a pamphlet produced by the FSS to attract new members will be analyzed. The most titillating aspect of this pamphlet is that it is essentially a propaganda piece promoting the need for more propaganda. Its xenophobic pages concentrate on reminding its readers that the immigrant must learn how to be an American, and that propaganda is the best way to do so. The pamphlets most repeated fabrication is that all foreigners that have arrived on the shores of America are completely ignorant of the way of the American, and thus sow Anti Americanisms, in particular Bolshevism and Communism (3, pg. 5). There can be no doubt that some immigrants did do this, but to imply that all did is simply inaccurate, a twisted but still plausible to those panicked enough, take on reality. This example could also be classified as an exaggeration lie, however because no evidence is cited to support the claim on the part of the FSS, it is clear that this statement was made without any true knowledge of the situation, allowing this statement to also fall under the category of falsification. In contradiction to this claim only 0.038 percent of the population was a member of the Socialist Party of America in 1919 when this pamphlet was published (4), (5). One could hardly claim that this was an impending revolution as the FSS does. This suggests that the claims being made in this pamphlet are uneducated, without any tangible base in the reality of the
  • 7. Saving Grace Not a Saving Grace Although society may think otherwise, saving students is not the role of teachers, no matter how many good movies there are out there. The media gives the impression that something is wrong with students when they enter the classroom and that is is the teacher s job to fix them of their issues. Because of this impression, today s teachers are faced with the challenge of overcoming this great myth that has been engraved in society s mind. Teachers are meant to be a support system for their students, not a saving grace. They are given the expectation to be a superstar in the classroom because media portrays them to be just that; a hero. What society doesn t always know, however, is that it can be hard enough to maintain order in their classroom, let alone be the student s hero. The disconnection between the public s expectations of teaching and what critics say is very profound. All too often, movies lead parents to hold these hero like expectations to their child s teacher. Dead Poet s Society directed by Peter Weir is a prime example of why the public s expectations of teaching is disconnected from what critics like Ayers, Moore, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They suggest that in order to be a good teacher, [they] have to be a hero (Moore). Which in reality, is erroneous. Teachers are educators, not heroes. They come into the classroom expecting to have a few troubled students, but they know that saving them isn t the answer. Rather, they encourage them to work with the students individually until the desired goals are met. Teachers do not see themselves as a saving grace because they know that students do not need saving. What students need is a support system that they can come to for help along the way to success. They also inspire students to take on tasks they never thought imaginable. I want my students in the hero role, not myself (Rickets) is the mindset that all educators should

Even though, there are significant minorities that come from Asian Indian families but their religion is another one, like being Buddhist or Muslim. Hinduism and the existence of these other religions inside the Indian territory can be explained based on how Hinduism was developed in India. Different from other major historic religions, Hinduism can t be traced directly to someone as their founder and there is no information about when it appeared in human history. Because of this Hinduism doesn t have a beginning, it just appears in South Asia and its development is dense and complex. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the will to win. A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points of the game. As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do to kind of settle the young players down? Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three, instead of a two. We have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s easy to talk about it now. It hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s when veterans come in. Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. Augustus And Julius Caesar It is very interesting that Augustus was a special emperor and leader in both Roman Republic and Empire because he was the last Republic leader and he was the first emperor. He was like a bridge or a construction politician, leader and emperor between two regimes. But, how were the regimes according to his time period? I need to focus on it before analyzing and evaluating Augustusand his doings. Firstly, he was very clever that he got the ability to take advantage of every and each situation regarding the state and political issues. It might be being one of Julius Caesar s relatives that he was Augustus uncle at first, and then Caesar adopted him. Maybe, he wanted to make real his step father s wish to change the regime gradually. • 17. Spring Awakening Play Theme Spring Awakening is a rock musical set in late 19th century Germany. It follows the lives of young teenagers (from fourteen to sixteen) as they navigate through the turmoil of their teenage sexuality. The musical contains some explicitly mature content and themes, such as sex, conception, erotic dreams, expressed desire for physical intimacy, physical and sexual abuse, hitting, ambiguously consensual sex, suicide, inappropriate language such as cursing, teenage pregnancy, masturbation, and death caused by an incorrectly executed abortion. The musical is based off of the play Spring Awakeningwritten by Frank Wedekind in the late 1800 s. At the time, it was written for the purpose of commenting on how German culture revolved around the purpose of oppressing young teenagers sexual desire and shaming those who were curious about sexuality. The controversial and, at the time, problematic themes were meant to act as a wake up call to those who forced ignorance of sexual instruction on their children. This is the reason for the significance of the setting, at the time Germany was focused on preventing children from becoming educated on sex. As the characters grew up, this setting was a catalyst for the tragic events that occurred in the wake of the children being poorly informed on sex, pregnancy, and the cause of their sexual desires. While the musical adapted from the original play does not contain the same social commentary, the harshness of the message is still evident.

Determination Of Flowering In Arabaliana Affects of Vernalization Length on the Flowering of Arabidopsis thaliana Background information The flowering of plants is a tightly controlled process and flowering at the wrong time could cause detrimental problems for a plant, especially if it were to flower too early in the season. There are both environment and genetic factors that can influence flowering in Arabidopsis thaliana. In the winter annual A. thaliana, environmental factors affect the gene expression of Flowering Locus C (FLC) (Michaels, et al., 2006). The Canadian Observatory on Homelessness reported that 35,000 people were homeless in Canada around the same time and that at least 235,000 Canadians experience homelessnessat some point in a year (Gaetz et al., 2016). The Act also created the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), which was largely inactive until 2002 (Padgett et al., 2016). At this point, federal homelessness policy managed homelessness by providing shelters and other short term solutions, as opposed to preventing homelessness and actually getting people off the street. Despite millions of dollars from Congress funding services for the homeless, homelessness did not decrease in he U.S. during the 1980s or 1990s. Since then, an ideology known as Housing First has come into popularity, which will be elaborated on in the literature review section. The National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) defines Housing First as a homeless assistance approach that prioritizes providing people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as quickly as possible and then providing voluntary supportive services as needed ( Housing First ). Electrochemical Cells Lab Essay Determination of an Electrochemical Series In electrochemistry, a voltaic cell is a specially prepared system in which an oxidation reduction reaction occurs spontaneously. This spontaneous reaction produces an easily measured electrical potential which has a positive value. Voltaic cells have a variety of uses and you commonly refer to them as a battery . Half cells are normally produced by placing a piece of metal into a solution containing a cation of the metal (e.g., Cu metal in a solution of a soluble salt that releases Cu2+ or Cu+ into solution). This is done by bringing the positive terminal or lead of the voltmeter into contact with M1 (copper) and the negative terminal in contact with the other metal M2. If the voltage displayed in the meter is negative, then reverse the terminals. Recall that the + terminal is the cathode and that reduction takes place there, thus you are measuring oxidation potentials and will need to change their sign to report them as reduction potentials in Data Table 2. 7. With a positive voltage displayed, wait about five seconds to take a voltage reading and record the value in DATA TABLE 1. Be sure to press down on the metal piece in order to make good contact. Also record which metal is the positive terminal and which is negative. Use the same procedure to measure the potential of the other three cells , M1 to M3, M1 to M4, and M1 to M5, continuing to use M1 (copper) as the reference electrode, thus it remains connected to the positive terminal of the voltmeter and negative

  • 27. Southern Road Dichotomy INTRODUCTION At the heart of the protest poetry that pervaded the Harlem Renaissance was the employment of blues as a mode through which poets expressed themselves. Blues literature was a creative outlet for African Americans by serving as a medium through which they could describe the travails that they had to face on a daily basis such as inner city living, denial of citizenship, unemployment, and lynching (Harris). Therefore, a strong relationship between the blues and protest literature formed during the Harlem Renaissance and began to intensify as the movement reached its end in the 1940s (Walker). After all, according to Trudier Harris, Professor of English at the University of North Carolina and National Humanities Center Fellow, African American poetry can only be effective if it attempts to achieve the acceptance of black people into the larger American politic (Harris). Poetry Analysis Of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Analysis of We Real Cool By Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African Americanconsciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather together and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because, of shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. In the opening lines of the poem, the reader

  • 34. Socioeconomic Status and Health Issues Socioeconomic status (a measurement of income, education, and occupation) measures an individual s social standing in society. Low socioeconomic status is often linked to a depravity of essential material resources and heightened psychological stress variables. The importance of researching the effects is underlined by its association to a number of adverse health effects and the increasing prevalence of poverty within many countries in the world. Recent studies have investigated the possible effects on the biological mechanisms by examining the differences in epigenetic patterns between individuals with variability in socioeconomic status. Although there have been limited studies conducted on this area, research has determined that the status of socioeconomic often has a significant impact on methylation, with an increase or decrease in certain sections of the genome depending on the region in question. Introduction Socioeconomic status is the combination of income, education and occupation which typically measures the social standing of an individual in a society [3]. The potential impact of socioeconomic status is vital as it affects a significant percent of Canadians. According to the Employment and Social Development Canada (2006), poverty affects approximately twelve percent of adults and thirteen percent of children. The gap between the rich and poor has significantly increased within the past few decades and research suggests that it will

Chinua Gogol s Dead Souls Degrading the People In Society Nikolai Gogol s Dead Souls is a response to the degrading society that the peculiar characters live in and also what our modern day society experiences. Gogol documents the main character Chichkov and the recurring dilemma of exposing the society and its residents for the the cynical and malicious people they are. In reaching an understanding of the perspective the people are experiencing and realizing that our society is eerily similar to the society in the novel. An example of this is when Gogol states, Every man who has lived in the world and mixed with his fellow men will have remarked something which has remained hidden from the eyes of others. In questioning who will help to break away from the social enslavement in the novel Chichkov has a call to action and determines that he has to make the change that the society so likely desires. Gogol states, You can t imagine how stupid the whole world has grown nowadays. Which shows how Gogol injects his viewpoints of society into the Chichkov s character and his viewpoints and opinions of society. By Chichkov stating how stupid the world is it show how he has refrained from offending people and is more determined to change what is wrong with the society. Although the reocurring social enslavement throughout the novel Gogol also introduces the personalized viewpoint of how social classes ultimately defines and classifies us. These parties have made India more democratic, but they have also made it less liberal. (Zakaria, 108) Even today, India s Prime Minister is the leader of the major party in alliance. • 37. King Lear by William Shakespeare Blindness is a theme that we see throughout King Lear in many characters including King Lear, Gloucester and Albany. Although blindness is a theme it is also a psychological metaphor and can be defined as not having sight.2 Shakespeare forces us to see that being blind is a mental flaw just as much as it is a physical flaw. Lear is not only metaphorically blind but is also blind toward nastiness and loyalty . We see Gloucester s blindness in more literal terms as he is literally blind but he can still see, and Albany has a more common form of blindness, as he is blind to his wife. These characters are only able to see after a tragic loss. However the person in the play that is more significantly blind is King Lear. His role was to distinguish between good and evil, but due to his in ability to see he is not able to do just so. Lear s first encounter with blindness was at the beginning of the play when he was fooled by his two older daughters lies and was not able to see the true love that Cordelia had for him, resulting in King Lear banishing her from his kingdom. As shown in the play for we have no such daughter, nor shall ever see that face again. Therefore be gone without our grace, our love, our benison (1.1. 265 267).3 King Lear s blindness also lead to the banishing of Kent, because Kent saw the true love Cordelia had for her father and was trying to protect her from his irrationality. Kent then disguised himself and was hired as a servant by King Lear. This proves

Mazzini preaches toward humanity, and believes that if you are not ready to violate your law of life then you are not ready to become a whole human family. • 41. The Effect Of Strain Gauge Rosette Used For Multi Channel... Abstract While calculating the results from the collected data, the thin plate shows non linear behaviour such that stress does not vary linearly with strain. In theory when pressure is concentrated at the centre of a circular plate, stress value decreases with respect to increasing radial distance from the centre. However in this case, we see that there are two principal stresses and they behave differently than one another. This experiment will introduce us to a new strain gauge called strain gauge rosette used for multi channel strain measurement and other equations to calculate principal stresses and strains in a two dimensional state. Introduction For a thin circular plate, stress and strain usually occur in a two dimensional state. As it is difficult to measure stress, strains are instead measured in real life practices and its corresponding stress values are calculated. The most popular measuring tool for strain is the strain gauge. Since strain is the measure of change in displacement over the original dimension of a structure, the measuring tool must be sensitive enough to detect that small change in displacement. Thus, we can learn how to handle sensitive measuring equipment and ways to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible and also to omit any errors that will affect the final calculation. Besides that, we can broaden our knowledge on multi channel strain measurements because in reality two dimensional strains are not

Ginsberg viewed Solomon as a creative genius, whose artistic nature was subsequently repressed by the staff of the psychiatric hospital. In Howl, this is presented as an extended metaphor the oppressors in white coats becoming oppressors of the entirety of the younger generation of the time. There is a strikingly demonized view of doctors and psychiatrists in the poem, which is highly reflective of the brutal methods used in psychiatric treatment in the early 20th century; Ginsberg references lobotomies and insulin shock therapy, which were most commonly used in the treatment of schizophrenia. They were intensely feared by patients, the procedures were painful and often traumatic. Ginsberg appears to relate this in a metaphorical sense to the injustices of the education system; how the creativity in the young is lobotomised out of them as if it were a kind of debilitating disease, conveyed in the line towards the end of the poem; who threw potato salad at CCNY lecturers in Dadaism and subsequently presented themselves on the granite steps of the madhouse with shaven heads and harlequin speech of suicide, demanding instantaneous lobotomy. This line also appears to relate back to the first line of the poem; I have seen the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked. The syntax is muddled and conveys a sense of madness in and of itself, which may be implying that the

According to a study done by Donald McCabe, 64 percent of students admitted to cheating on a test, 58 percent admitted to plagiarism and 95 percent said they participated in some form of cheating, whether it was on a test, plagiarism or copying homework . There are various ways to cheat. Whether it be looking at another student s paper during a test or getting someone to send their homework answers, students do it constantly. The school can not catch everyone that cheats and students are so desperate to maintain a good GPA that cheatingis not seen as something bad in student s eyes. The way that the school system is now is students would rather do whatever it takes to make a good grade than to learn the material. It is not just one specific grade of students that cheat or one particular group that does either. Cheating ranges from freshmen to seniors and various different school organizations that students are involved in. I have seen kids on the football team send screenshots of their math homework and even students in IB classes do the same exact thing. Every kid has a different reason for cheating, but they all connect to the same thing which is trying to make a good grade.
