Warhol And The Pop Art Movement
Andy Warhol being not simply a Pop artist, but an American artist who was known as the master of
Pop Art, and about two of Warhol s most famous paintings; Coca Cola and Campbell s Soup Cans.
Andy Warhol was an artist and filmmaker, an initiator for the Pop Art movement in the 1960s.
Warhol used mass production techniques to elevate art into the supposed unoriginality of the
commercial culture of the United States. Warhol s early drawings frequently recalls the Anglo
Saxon tradition of nonsense humor, a characteristically childlike exuberance, and the fact that
Warhol was successfully earning a living in the advertising industry at the time was sufficient for
many to dismiss his entire artistic output during this period as commercial art . Fifty years ago,
Pop artcaptured the spirit of Warhol s young art, but that basic structure has been (to most people)
a revealing profitless movement for years. Pop art was a 1960s movement that focused on
everyday objects, comic books and mediated images now seems quaint and playful, but not Warhol.
In the first part of Andy Warhols career he was an iconoclast, in the second, the artist as
businessman. In 1960 Warhol s graphic works underwent a fundamental change in terms of subject
matter, accompanied at about the same time by a change in technique. Warhol s graphic work
covers areas not normally associated with the art of the twentieth century, and which might even be
considered unique. In Andy Warhol s paintings and prints of

Case Study Of Eprit And Zara
Esprit has positioned in a different market segment from rivals like Zara, H M and Mango. The
Esprit woman describes tis typical customer, should be in their 30s and care more about the
quality and value of a product than its price. Most other fast fashion retailers are more price driven
and target mainly youngsters aged from 15 to 20 years old.
Another major difference between Esprit and Zara is their respective business models. Esprit now
has around half of its sales revenue coming from wholesale, while Zara adopts a vertical business
and takes control of the sales of all its products.
Despite the differences, there are always elements Esprit can learn from Zara. One thing it has
learned is how to deliver products faster to the market. For part of its collections since June,
Esprit has shortened the time needed to delivering new product lines to stores from the original
six months to a period of eight to 12 weeks. The key to achieving this is to cancel the lead time
for wholesalers to make selections and orders but ask them to reserve part of their budget for what
the clothier will offer them.

Gen200.Personal Responsibility Essay
GEN200 Prioritizing for Responsible Productivity Growing up, responsibility was something most
young minds feared. The way parents spoke of responsibility, portraying so much struggle and
frustration, it was evident most individuals dreaded growing up and acquiring more responsibility
than simple chores around the house. That was then. When one experiences what comes with age,
things become easier to accept. Through the years one can learn to distinguish the difference
between selfishness and independence. The difference is personal responsibility. Differentiating
between what is needed and what is preferred for the benefit of oneself is important for an
individual s well being. So, although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I work hard to earn the money I am paid. Moreover, I work hard to spend the money I am paid.
Suffice it to say, let us discuss how finding financial balance is important. I have yet to receive
my degree in higher education, and let me say it has been hard to get where I am at this time
without it. Experiencing any shortage on monetary endowments will keep reality in check. So,
I developed managing money as good as possible by practicing cost efficient spending, stretching
pay periods, and exhausting monetary resources. By focusing on balancing my finance on what
is necessary vs. what is preferred, I can return to school. By prioritizing what needs to be paid
first, I am directly supporting my personal responsibility to myself. Ideally, everyone wants to
pay off all debts. Being able to prioritize which debts are paid off first supports organization and
validity in all aspects of an individual s life. Since I have touched base on playing hard and
working hard, I can move into the workplace. Finding professional balance and prioritizing work
responsibility directly ties into supporting personal responsibility. As an individual with dreams
and goals, a majority can agree that we decide to work where we work to maintain the path we are
on to achieve such dreams and goals. I know we can all attest to working somewhere we detest to
maintain monetary support needed. Can we all attest to being professional about personal

Medieval Manor Pros And Cons
A medieval manor was a large agricultural estate that was made up of various types of farming
lands, a village where the current manor tenants would live, and a manor house where the lord
who owns or controls the estate lives. It was typically the wealthy who owned or had control over
any of the manors. Most manors were built of natural stone and were built to last. Their size usually
illustrated the owner s wealth.
During the 16th century, medieval manors were built by lords and ranged in size from 1,200 1,800
acres and were primarily used for agricultural purposes. There were a wide variety of people who
resided inside a medieval manor. The manor s lord acted as a direct line of communication to the
King. The vassal or liege , was known

Basketball s History And The History Of Basketball
The game of basketball as it is known today was created by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891
in Springfield, Massachusetts to condition young athletes during cold months. It consisted of peach
baskets and a soccer style ball. The game became established quickly and grew very popular as the
20th century progressed, first in America and then throughout the world. After basketballbecame
established in American colleges, the professional game followed. The American National
Basketball Association (NBA), established in 1946, grew to a multibillion dollar enterprise by the
end of the century, and basketball became an integral part of American culture. This game is now
played by more than 250 million people worldwide in an organized fashion, as well as by countless
others in pick up games. Basketball originated in 1891 when a future Presbyterian minister named
James Naismithwas assigned to teach a physical education class at a Young Men s Christian
Association (YMCA) training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. The first professional league
was in 1898. Players that wanted to play earned $2.50 every home game they played and $1.25 for
an away game. A player on the Washington Bullets which are now called the Washington Wizards,
had offers of more than 100 million dollars in over seven seasons on the Washington Bullets and the
Miami Heat. A lot of teams in the NBA now have players from different countries, who return home
to represent their native countries during the Olympic Games. The Dream Team , made u p of the
top American professional players, has stood up for the United States in the recent Olympic
Games. In 1996 the Dream Team trailed some opponents until fairly late in the games an indication
of basketball s growing international status. In Athens 2004, Argentina took the gold medal home.
That s the first time a Latin American country won the basketball honor. The rules to the game of
Basketball is that the ball can be thrown in any direction with one or both hands. The ball may be
batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with the fist. A player cannot run with the
ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a

Gunpowder Plot History
On November 5, 1605 a crisis was averted. Robert Catesby and his followers had hatched a plan
to blow up the House of the Lords while Parliament was in session. In doing so, they would kill
the king and his officials and establish a Catholic monarchy in the resulting chaos. This would be
known in later years as the Gunpowder Plot(Sommerville, The Gunpowder Plot. ). One of the most
well known plotters, Guy Fawkes, fought for the Spanish Catholics in the 1590s. During this time,
he learned how to mine or dig passages underground to destroy enemy sites with explosives. This
skill later helped the plotters figure out how to ignite the gunpowder. However, before the plotters
could set off their gunpowder, Baron Monteagle received a letter advising him against attending the
Parliament meeting for God and man have concurred to punish the wickedness of this time (qtd. in
Sommerville). Monteagle then passed the letter on to King James I. When James sent officials to
search the area underneath the House of Lords, Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellar amongst...

Immediately after the plotters were caught, Catholics were dealt with harshly, and this distrust can
still be seen today. Guy Fawkes Day also rose from the spectacular conclusion of the plan. Had the
plot succeeded, the plotters might have lived differently, the Catholics could have been treated
better or worse, and the plot would not be an event to celebrate. More importance should be placed
on the Gunpowder Plot because this event plays such a large role in shaping not only European
history, but world history through the oppression of Catholics and a new holiday. Yet, few
Americans know the story behind the plot. Acknowledging the impacts of the plot by educating the
public will reveal its significance

Persuasive Essay On Food Deserts
Tony Robbins once said that It s not resources but resourcefulness that ultimately makes the
difference. That one quote summarizes the difference between wanting a change and actually
working for a change. You simply have to use the resources around you to make an effort in your
life and make things work.
Someone in Roswell and someone in Atlanta does not eat the same thing for their meals. As a
matter of fact, here, candy, chips, chocolate, and cookies are just a few of the things that our
generation calls breakfast instead of snacks . Even if they are having a snack, people here would
probably choose chocolate instead of fruit. Why? Because there are food deserts EVERYWHERE

Food deserts are often the effects of a lack of grocery stores, farmers markets, and healthy food
providers. The metro area that we call home is fun filled and surrounded with food deserts. Food
deserts impart our lives in a numerous amount of ways; in some cases, they put our community in
life or death situations. They play a part of our obesity level and why there are most obese people
here in America than anywhere else.
Location plays an important in why we live in food deserts. Metro Atlanta is in the middle of
Georgia, which hinders our chances of receiving fresh fruits and vegetables. In order to receive the
proper and nutritious foods, many of us that live in the metro Atlanta area literally has to travel at
least 10 miles outside the city to even get to them, let alone buy them. Cities surrounding Atlanta
have to travel to Atlanta to go to a decent grocery store. However, sometimes Atlanta cannot meet
their needs.
On the bright side, there are many programs in Atlanta responsible for decreasing food deserts in
the metropolitan area. The mobile market is the only one that I am aware of. The mobile market is a
market that brings fresh fruits and vegetables to communities, promotes good health, and provide
information and resources to food deserts.
Although food deserts have both major and deadly impacts on people s lives, the solutions to
ending them, and the people needed to execute the solutions are quite simple. Because attracting

Why Is Courage Being Scared To Death And Saddling Up Anyway
Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway John Wayne. This quote is very true.
Courage is persevering through tough times and facing your fears. These fears don t have to be
great but they can be little things like getting your first shot or learning how to ride a bike.
Courage comes in all shapes and sizes. No, this essay is not about me saving someone s life. Or
maybe risking my own for someone else s. No, this essay is about something smaller. It s about me
being scared to death but saddling up anyway.
One hot sunny day in Orlando Florida, Disney World to be exact, 2011 a young girl about the age
of seven was having a debate with her mother on whether to ride a rollercoaster or not.
Should we go? It seems pretty scary and plus I m not sure I m tall enough to ride. I said
Oh you are plenty tall, and it will be fun. C mon what s the worst that could happen. replied my
mom.

Pdqs 1-14 How Do Restriction Enzymes Work
Ch 20 PDQs 1 14
How do restriction enzymes work?
After recognizing the restriction sites, the restriction enzymes cut off the DNA strands at these
points, leaving sticky ends on the original DNA fragment. The restriction enzymes can also travel
to other cells to cut off DNA sequences, the sequences that can match the bases of the original
sequence. The sticky end will find other sticky end to form a new recombined DNA sequence,
obeying the law of base pairing.
Explain the significance of sticky ends and why they were given that name.
To form recombinant DNA, sticky ends are required. With each sticky end having only one strand,
it can form hydrogen bonds with the bases of the complementary sequence. The sticky ends will

How does gel electrophoresis work? What properties of the DNA does it utilize?
Using the electric current, scientists pass the DNA through gel, and as smaller molecules get
through gel quicker than those of bigger sizes, DNA molecules get separated according the sizes
of the molecules. We utilize the property that large molecules move slower, and DNA is slightly
negatively charged(due to phosphate groups), so it will move to the positive pole of the gel.
Where will the smallest fragments of DNA be found on a gel after it runs? Where will the largest
fragments be found? How is the size of a particular fragment determined?
Smallest will be found near the positive pole of the gel, as DNA is moving towards the positive
pole, and small ones move faster. The large fragments will be found near upper half towards the
positive pole, because the bigger size determines its slower speed moving towards the pole.
Restriction fragment analysis, which specifies the DNA sequences, determines the size of the DNA

Erving Goffman s Stigma And Social Identity
The main point Erving Goffman made in his article Stigma and Social Identity how different
types of stigma effect people in their daily life. You could be stigmatized in many different ways
such as how you look, if you are handicapped or not, or even if you are from a different ethnicity.
Goffman defines three different primary typologies of stigma and they are: (1) abomination of the
body, which means someone has physical disabilities, (2) Blemishes of individual character,
meaning moral failing such as rapist, sex offender, and (3) tribal stigma, meaning your ethnical
background and religion (Pontell, 2016, p. 96 97). Goffman also talks about how the individuals,

96 97). I personally think that blemishes of individual character and tribal stigma are both useful
in understanding the phenomenon of stigmatization, as both them play a key factor when
someone is left out. But I strongly believe that blemishes in individual character play a huge role
when it comes to stigmatization. I say this because now a days in a society if you are from a
different ethnical background, it would not hold you back in some opportunity and in some
places it would but it is not the same as it used to be back in the days. And as of individual who
are handicapped are stigmatized because we assume that he/she might not be able to do the job
and somewhere I think that individuals who are handicap might think the same for themselves
and would be held back from opportunities. But if you have a blemish in your character, such as if
you are labeled as rapist or sex offender, you are always going to be seen as a bad person. People
around you are going to say hateful and mean things about you and sometime with these labels you
will not get a job easily. And the reason is that the society is going to judge you and assume all the
bad things you did, even though it might not have been that

Horton University serves a diverse population, many of whom rely on outside financial resources to
fund their education. In an effort to provide need based scholarships to deserving students, the
institution will implement a last dollar scholarship program to students who have demonstrated
academic excellence. Those students who receive enough financial aid to cover all tuition costs will
not be eligible for the scholarship. As a result, the scholarship will afford the opportunity for more
students to attend the institution tuition free rather than further stacking financial aid awards. As
outlined by the Board of Visitors, students must be in state first generation college students, exceed
minimum admissions standards, and not be able to financially able to afford tuition costs. In order
to comply with the latter, the student s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) must fall within a
range that makes them ineligible for full Pell, but still leaves a gap fee to be paid.
Garnering support for this scholarship program will be essential in implementation and
sustainability. It is proposed that scholarship students get paired with a mentor whom invests in the
student s success. Alumni will be contacted to serve as mentors, but business and community
leaders will also be actively recruited to serve. This is key in an effort for these leaders to see these
students and the college in action, which

Chip Cards And Magnetic Stripe Cards
Chip Cards V.S. Magnetic Stripe Cards Nowadays, the use of cards is becoming more and more
frequent because of its convenience. And the technology provides the way to make cards
become more practical. Two most common types of cards that people use are chip cards and
magnetic cards. Both chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are broadly used all over the world in
diverse areas of people s life. However, chip cards and magnetic stripe cards are different from
the security, function, and the process of the transaction. The first difference between chip
cards and magnetic stripe cards is the security of the cards. Due to people put the data into the
cards, the security of the cards is a serious factor of the cards. Once the security is not reasonable
that the data leaks out, the owner of the card will suffer a large loss. The data includes the
profile of a person, like the home and work addresses, the phone number, and the most important
element is the money that is in the credit cards and debit cards. Basically, people pay the greatest
attention to whether the money in the card is safe or not. Chip card has high standard on the
security. It is difficult to clone the information of the cards. And by now, there are no examples of
cloning the information on chip cards. According to one of the authorized bank Chase, a chip

The Good Girl Character Analysis
In the book, The Good Girl, by Mary Kubica, one of the main characters, Colin Thatcher, shows a
two very distinct personalities in the book. He changes throughout the book due to connections
with others. Before he bonds with Mia Dennett, Colin is selfish and hostile, and manipulative. A
good example of this is when the two first meet at the bar and Colin stops Mia from driving
herself home while drunk, She smiles and says that s sweet. She thinks I care about her. Little
does she know. I couldn t care less. (Kubica 48) Thatcher doesn t get much better for a long
while. He just continues to manipulate Mia with empty promises and half truths. Just after this,
Colin kidnaps Mia and takes her to a cabin in northern Michigan. A few months later, while they
re holed up in the cabin, Colin threatens Mia to keep her quiet after she tries to run away. I push
her up the steps, into the cabin. I slam the door shut, but it bounces back open. I kick it shut and
throw the table down to keep it closed. I yank her into the bedroom and tell her that if I hear her
so much as breathe she will never again see the light of day. (Kubica 87) While he never really
does anything to physically hurt Mia besides this and tripping her a couple of times here and
there, Colin throws his weight around a lot in the book and uses fear to keep Mia in line. His
actions and behavior start to get better throughout the book, but towards the middle, Colin reaches a

Legendary Betsy Ross and the American Flag Essay
Legendary Betsy Ross and the American Flag
The American flag has long been a symbol of our country, but there have been certain doubts
about its origin. No one really knows who sewed the American flag. The legend of Betsy Ross
has been told many times, but some people look upon it as a myth, saying Betsy Ross never even
existed. Betsy Ross was indeed a real person who lived in the 1700 s, but no one can prove she
actually sewed the American Flag.
Betsy Ross did not have an extremely interesting childhood. She was born Elizabeth Griscom on
January 1, 1752, to a Quaker couple. Her father s name was Samuel Griscom, who worked as a
carpenter. The Quakers were members of the religious society of friends. (Comptons 1). She lived in

John Claypoole, who was the cellmate of Joseph Ashburn. They had five daughters, but John
Claypoole died in 1817. Following the death of her third husband, she lived with one of her
daughters in Philadelphia until her death on January 30, 1836 (Walters 335).
The American Flag is a symbol of our country. The leaders of the Revolution realized the need for
a distinctive American flag. Betsy Ross had taken up flag sewing in addition to upholstery. In fact,
she was the official flagmaker for the Pennsylvania Navy. George Washington came to Betsy Ross
in June of 1776 with two other men (Davidson 177).
When they came to Betsy Ross, George Washington and his committee had originally chosen a six
pointed star for the flag, but the six pointed star was the English rule (Tonn 18). Betsy convinced

Ecological Perspective
The Ecological Perspective The ecological perspective conveys the elaborate transactions between
people and their environments (Greene, 2008). In order to understand someone, one must be able to
understand the environment that he/she is a part of. Relatedness, competence, niche and habit,
goodness of fit, and power are all important concepts that contribute to the ecological perspective.
Relatedness is the capacity to form humanrelationships or connect with other people (Greene,
2008). Greene (2008) proclaimed that the ability to relate and connect with other people begin with
consistent parenting. Antonio struggles in the ability to connect to others and creating relationships

People and their environment are interdependent upon one another, creating a process of adaptation
that is biological, psychological, social, and cultural (Robbins, 2011). Being unable to adapt can
create a lack of fit between the person and his/her environment, where one s needs are not met in
their environment, in which this case Antonio experiences. Antonio and his environment are unable
to depend on each other, having unsuccessful transactions between them. Antonio has a supportive

and his friend Roberto to play with him. The only problem is that Antonio has not been
experiencing successful transactions with his environment entirely, but has adept to disturbed and

Macbeth asks the witches to explain how is it possible since the King still lives with heirs to the
throne. The witches leave without giving him an answer, and soon after Macbeth begins plotting

Socrates Vs Meno
In this writing, Meno asks Socrates if virtue can be taught or is virtue the result of practice or
does virtue come about in another way (70a). Meno believes that virtue is different for different
actions performed and it also differs in terms of the age of the individual (72a). Socrates responds
by telling me no that he does not know what qualities virtuepossesses and he is ignorant to it (71b).
However, virtue should take on the same form (72c), rather than being different for different
actions and age of the person. Factors of virtue include justice and moderation (73b), and if people
did not have the same traits of virtue, then this would mean that they are not good or virtuous in the
same way (73c). During this conversation, Socrates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

has to up to date about the taxes, rules and legislation as they change very often. Employment law is

economic forces like consumer confidence, employment, interest rates and inflation (ref) also affect
the organization. The Organization also has to keep checking exchange rates if they import raw
materials or some other resources. Social forces, which could also influence the organization like
lifestyles, buying habits, education levels, health consciousness. The population of the country can
also have an impact on the organization, as with the increase in population, demand of products will

The fourth external force in the analysis is technological. Some of technological forces are like
computer calculation speed and power of CNC machineries, lathe machine s efficiency and
automation. Productivity also could be higher with the help of technology. By using technology
organization can do online marketing, selling and much more. The second last of these external

Similarities Between a Global Leader and an Effective...
A global leader has a lot of things in common with an effective innovator and one of the principal
similarities between the two involves their ability to coordinate teams with the purpose of
achieving goals in a limited amount of time and with as little impediments as possible. It is only
safe to say that innovation is a teamsport and that a global leader thus needs to focus on this
concept in order to be able to assist his subordinates in meeting deadlines.
In most cases global leaders feel that it is not up to them to come up with innovative solutions.
Rather, they feel responsible for facilitating the innovation process. (Dyer, Gregersen,
Christensen) Even with the fact that being an entrepreneur in many cases means having to
criticize creative individuals for failing to play an active part in the actual production process,
there is much more to being a global leader. Such a person basically needs to employ complex
attitudes in order for him or her to be able to cooperate effectively with all of his or her subordinates.
Effective innovators are in some situations less concerned about matters like discipline or
accountability. This is why it is difficult for many global leaders to be able to adopt attitudes that
would involve innovation, as they are unwilling to take risks and thus believe that they should
solely concentrate on increasing profits through employing rational actions. Similar to how global
leaders are reluctant to consider innovation as a strategy

Beowulf Epic Hero
An epic poem is a long writing that tells about a hero s journeys and battles with gods and
mythical creatures. An epic hero is someone with all of the characteristics valued in that time
period. In the epic Beowulf, recorded around 1000 AD, a noble named Beowulf fought monster for
the glory and admiration of his victories to be known throughout time. Beowulfis an epic hero
because of his descent into the underworld, his super human strength, and his vengefulness.
Clearly, Beowulf is an epic hero because of his decent into the underworld. Although Beowulf
did not descend into the true fiery underworld of hell, he did descend into the deep water of
Grendel s Mother s lair where no man has been before. The epic, Beowulf, says, For hours he
sank through the waves, Cantos 22, line 367 368. This shows how far he had to go to get to
Grendel s mother s lair. Beowulf had no choice but to go to the lair and kill her because she
killed Hrothgar s faithful servant. Beowulf also says, As all words ended he leaped into the lake,

The Law Of Admissions Standards
It s impossible to prophesy on what types of cases will arise. And it s doubtful that anyone could
have predicted the issues that would come with university admissions standards. Because lets be
honest, no school wants to be viewed as the dunderhead who rejected the next Shakespeare or
Aristotle. Many factors can play a role: GPA, SAT scores, extracurricular activities, and other
academically related aspects, are always going to be taken into consideration. But there s one other
factor it s the one hairy, delicate topic that people tiptoe around and that s the race factor. Everyone
cringes when the word race begins floating around.
So, the Supreme Court gave universities a blueprint for creating admissions standards: Grutter v

But without a doubt, universities have a rational basis for excluding some students while rejecting
others. A university does not have the means to accept every single person that applies; it s just not
feasible. Therefore, they can create guidelines for granting a student admission. For example,
examining GPA, standardized test scores, organizational involvement, community service hours,
and the like, are ways that universities can accept or deny students. Not only is this rational, but it s
also necessary to ensure a universities success.
On the other hand, strict scrutiny is a far more nitpicky. If a university implements standards that
use race as a factor, then it calls for for the most exacting judicial scrutiny (Bakke, 438 U.S. 265
(1978). Grutter and Fisher dealt with this precise question: Does using race as a factor in university
admissions violate the Equal Protection Clause? In exact situations, it does not. If the admissions
provisions are of the narrowly tailoring construct, it is permissible. Now let us turn to examining the
nuances of Grutter and Fisher.
Beneath the watchful eye of strict scrutiny, the burden lies on the state, or in this case the university,
to prove they have a compelling interest in having racial classifications. For universities, the
compelling interest is cultivating a diverse student environment. And according to Chief

Electoral College Voting System
It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the
winner of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the
Electoral College votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because
of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections.
In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice
President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which
ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the
creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties.

Essay On Jurassic Park
In 1993, director Stephen Spielberg released the blockbuster hit Jurassic Park. The sci fi film
explored the potential outcome of cloning dinosaurs from prehistoric DNA. The velociraptors,
dilophosaurus , and triceratops seemed to thrive from the beginning of the movie, hunting down
prey. They had access to the appropriate food, had appropriate habitats, and never seemed to
struggle. In reality, however, if scientists had the correct technology, dinosaurs would most likely
not be able to adapt to today s environment the way they did in the film. In the 21st century, current
dangers include climate change, food sources, and bacteria. The way dinosaurs adapt fully depend
on scenarios based on their surroundings. Climate change has changed drastically since the age of
the dinosaurs. Ice caps have melted, more frequent wildfires have occured, and the number of
tropical storms has increased. Humans have been able to survive with this change. Dinosaurs,
however, are cold blooded, meaning they adapt their body temperatures to their environment. If the
temperature drops to dangerously low levels, the organisms could die or become weak. When the
dinosaurs lived, the temperature range was more of a constant, making it easy to adapt. Although

Post Modernism And Its Influence On Society
Post modernism came about in the late 20th century following modernism, which was a period
where people had a new found freedom to follow their own path in life, whether it was religion,
science, philosophy, art, or really anything they put their mind to as opposed to strictly traditional
beliefs. Writers could express their emotions more easily without really feeling a backlash from
what everyone else thought. Two female writers who were able to freely express themselves in
their writingduring post modernism were Linda Pastan and Sharon Olds. Linda
Pastan talked more about her life in general like every day anxieties, her marriage, parenting, and
even grief. However, Sharon Olds was a little more controversial in her writing since she often
talked about sexuality and violence. Their writing styles were similar in the aspect that they both
enjoyed writing based on their own lives, but still very different on how they talked about certain
subject matter. Even with different approaches, these two authors were still both very influential on
others who wanted to share the same dream. Both authors have had similar educational
backgrounds and writing recognition. Pastan

focus her life on her family and did not return to writing until 10 years later when she was

Girl on the Escalator was an official selection of the 2016 LA Shorts Festival and the 2016

Charles Bukowski. What can be said about him that hasn t already been said? I think he is a
very talented poet but also controversial. He was an alcoholic and in his poems, he would talk
about ogling women in a way that is slightly uncomfortable to read. Yet, he also wrote uplifting,
compassionate poems about the poor and suffering. He wasn t someone that could be easily
labeled as a writer, he jumped around and wrote exactly what he wanted. Bukowski was always
honest in his poems, and many of them read like the pages of a diary or the streams of thought
that we can t see. His honesty polarized him with some audiences because people like it when
they can easily label something and don t need to think on it, but Bukowski couldn t be named

Canada In The 1960 s
Following a decade of classy, conventional living, the 1960 s was a decade filled with the
Beatles, turtlenecks, Barbies, and afros. A decade where days were filled with tie dye shirts, and
coloured televisions determined your social status. The 1960 s was also filled with racism and
many were faced with unjust judgements and consequences for their actions. Through all of this
emerged three events that changed Canadian history and how Canadians themselves viewed their
country as a whole. Through the acceptance of a new flag, hosting Expo 67 on Canadas centennial,
and the fulfillment of universal health care, the 1960 s was a decade that brought tremendous unity

This campaign was the fight for government assisted health care for all. The government of
Canada officially passed the Medical Care Act in 1966, which created a universal health care
system for all Canadians. This was a significant step in Canadian history as many countries at
that time, and still today, lack laws of equality like this one. For this reason, Canadians find great
pride in the fact that all people in Canada have equal access to medical care. However, this law
did not easily come about, it took much time and persuasion to even be considered. Tommy
Douglas began the fight for universal health care for all Canadians in 1961 when he left the
Cooperative Commonwealth Federation in Saskatchewan to be a part of the federal
government (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). Douglas had the idea of giving all Canadians universal
health care after he had succeeded in doing this for the people of Saskatchewan. After proving
his outrageous idea of medical care being partially paid for by the government, it was easy to
convince the rest of Canada. For only a small fee each month, Saskatchewan residents had their
medical bills partially paid for and after only two years provincial debt was reduced by twenty
million dollars (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). These same rules were implemented in the rest of
Canada as a result of the 1966 Medical Care Act (Health Canada, 2012, online). As a result,
Canadians were now supported by the government when they needed medical help. Consequently,
universal health care brought both pride and equality to Canada because very few countries had the

Pearl Harbor Air Raid Analysis
Because of the sudden attacks, the air raid on Pearl Harbor had three very unusual features
regarding the injuries for the medical personnel to deal with. First, there was a great number of

Just 36 hours before the air raid, a lecture was given to all the medical personnel in the area about
how to handle the quantities of wounded in an attack setting. After, they had a scenario were
stress was placed on the personnel to quickly and adequately clean wounds by soap and water,
followed by the surgical removal of lacerated or contaminated tissue. Three criteria were to be

The Ancient Greek Society
Competition in ancient Greece set their society apart from the rest of the world and became a
greater influence on modern society. Competition was pride and a sense of bettering oneself to
achieve greater goals. Hesiod is the first to correlate man to material. He describes mankind in
five races of earthly material based upon their malleability. Overtime the Greeks develop this
theory into a popular mindset, craftsmen and the product. Man becomes what he creates. The
desire to learn and grow invests itself in competition by the conception of medicine, sports, art,
writing, language, and war. Everything in Greek society was recognized as either a tool or a
product. Men developed their bodies in gymnasiums, children expanded their minds in schools,
the body was made immune and strong with medicines, and the brain was built on words,
conversation inspired by art, territories seized by war. Inspired by the ancient Egyptians and their
tradition of statue portraiture the Greeks decide to develop this further. The Kroisos statue was
born, next the Kritos boy. From then on sculptors would rise to challenge to create the perfect
man, their earthly version of paying God. The Greeks incorporated math for order and continued

Grimm Godfather Death
The authors Jacob and Wilhem Grimm let the readers imagine real life situations that people
believe they face every day. The metaphor that they use is God, Satan and Death; these are all
things that we are faced with in our daily lives. The story Godfather Death is told in 3rd person
omniscient. Whereas, this story comes down to choices, these choices determine their fate. The
father has 12 children that he can hardly feed and provide for, so the man is out in the street
searching for the right person to be his 13th child godfather. The man was approached by GOD,
I do not wish to have you for a godfather, said the man. You give to the rich, and let the poor
starve. The man was approached by Satan, Then I do not wish to have you for a godfather, said
the man. You deceive mankind and lead them astray. Then Death comes along, I am Death, who
makes everyone equal. You are the right one. You take away the rich as well as the poor, without
distinction. I will make your child rich and famous, for he who has me for a friend cannot fail (13).
In general, peoplegreed, selfishnessand desire for power always cause them to lose everything. What
good does love, money, status, and power do, if a man loses his life?
The symbol death plays a major role in the story, a young doctor making bad choices when he had
been given the blueprint to success and happiness. There are roughly 3 stages throughout people
lives where people come to this imaginary fork in the road, ... Show more content on

Cheating eventually brings about negative consequences. Every action, there is a reaction. Even
when you have been given the riches of the world, death stills await you. There were a couple
early warning flags in the story, one was when the boy father turned down God, secondly, not
adhering to death warning, there were consequences for not following the rules. The doctor
personal greed and desire for a better status and power, caused him his

My Violin Research Paper
The violin is one of those instruments that one can play for years, and never truly master.
However, when one has the ability to play the violin, they are able to experience so many things
that a regular non violin playing person would never experience. This next year will be my 10th
year playing, and on my journey, I have had many meaningful interactions with my violin, and the
people who have helped me with my violin. My most valuable experience did not just happen in
the course of a day, I think my most valuable experience happened over the course of several
years, which was orchestra. I began the violin when I was 6, on a whim when my mom discovered
a violin for sale. My mom bought me the Вј sized violin and quickly signed me up for lessons. Fast
forward one year, and I would be going to my very first orchestra. This orchestra was a place that
took in kids that had no experience in being in orchestras, and taught... Show more content on

My previous elementary schools had no music program, so I did not expect anything different from
the new school. But, I was in for a shock. I met Ms, Nina Wilkinson in the first 3 weeks of
school. I think it is because I play the violin, and ultimately met Ms. Wilkinson are two of the
major reasons I became who I am now. I played for her the piece I was learning from Suzuki
book 4, and I was shaking with nerves, but I think Ms. Wilkinson saw something in me, and put
me in the school orchestra, second chair. I was stunned. Never before have I ever been in first
violin; I was always in second. This gave me a huge confidence boost. I was always pretty shy,
and I rarely spoke more than a sentence all at once. But, during orchestra when Ms. Wilkinson
conducted, she would tell me good job or well done and that changed me. I became more confident
in my talents and self. I think my time in that school orchestra was a powerful influence on

The Effects Of Free Speech On The United States
As an American citizen and a late bloomer to the political arena in the United States, I find myself
arriving in an disheartening and frightening environment. Where I have suddenly awoken in a dis
utopian world of money, power and greed, where the rich elites of the population has all the power
to speak up. Where money has become more out spoken and heard than actual dialog, while the
majority of the population remains silenced through underfunded attempts to express their views.
Giving money the potency of free speech enables only the people with a financial mouth to
resonate loud enough to be heard. Presidents, Senators, Legislators and House of Representative
members are involved in the process of making policies and laws, who are... Show more content on

Lobbying is a way for self interest groups to persuade the outcomes of policies through discussions
and research. Thurber, James PHD in political science, director and founder of the Center for
Congressional and Presidential Studies and a distinguished Professor at the Public Affairs American
University, acknowledges in his research paper President Obama, Congress and the Battle with
Interest Groups and Lobbyists identifies lobbying as fundamentally [able to] influence the way
issues and problems [are] framed and ultimately the way policies are made in Washington (3). Self
interest groups and lobbyists should have power to influence through debate in the United States on
domestic policies that affect U.S. citizens. However, there is a overwhelming amount of cash being
poured into politics to persuade decisions. Not only from U.S. interests, but foreign interest groups
are pouring millions of dollars into American lobbying groups to persuade U.S. policies that affect
millions of American citizens nation wide. Many lobbying groups give foreign investors whose
interests do not coincide with the American citizens, a vehicle to influence U.S. domestic policies.
Julia DiLaura, an investigative journalist for the Center of Public Integrity, confirms this in her
article Foreign Governments Pay to Influence U.S. Policy , illustrates that these

Break Someone s Heart For Christmas Research Paper
The Time I Decided to Break Someone s Heart for Christmas It was in the middle of December,
close to Christmas. I was with my girlfriend, who is my current ex, and we were breaking up. It
was bitterly cold kind of windy freeze that wasn t necessarily very harsh but still crawled
throughout your skin and shuddered your bone when you weren t prepared. I didn t feel cold
though, I didn t feel anything really but at the same time I felt everything. I could feel the very
pressure coming for the grey and white, sunless overcast sky forcing down its vast emptiness
upon me. I could smell the wind lightly rolling around carelessly, and I breathed it into my heart.
But worst of all my internal perception of my environment was focused so entirely on the
existence of the human closest to me I saw her as the epicenter of the known universe, and I m the
piece of shit that threw her feelings in the garbage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on my shoulder and I in turn laid my cheek on the top of her head. We whispered our
conversation and softly spoke into each others ears. You still want to hang out after school? she
simply responded with yeah . her voice was soft and feminine, like listening to mother speak to a

It is frightening and sad for everyone that is involved and sadly due to lack of research there is
no cure but, there are somethings you can do to lower your chances of developing Alzheimer s.
There are strong connections between getting diagnosed with Alzheimer s and basic health
conditions such as having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, or heart
disease. If someone were to not fix these things or get medication it could lead to Alzheimer s.
That leads into balancing weight another basic health issue. It is known that obesity can change
the brain in a way that can raise your odds of developing Alzheimer s in the future. In fact,

The Controversy Of Diaspora
The debate on Diaspora has been an ever going debate that has transformed itself with time. The
real meaning of the term diaspora has with time somewhere now eroded and become a more of an
individual subjective word whose meaning and interjections vary from person to person. The
original word comes from Greek word ОґО№О±ПѓПЂОїПЃО¬ which means scattering, dispersion
and which described the emigration of Greeks to colonise and assimilate a recently conquered
territory. Later, the term was referred to a scattered population whose origin lies within a smaller
geographic locale. It is also referred to the movement of the population from its original homeland.
In today s parlance, Diaspora has come to refer particularly to historical mass dispersions of an
involuntary nature, such as the expulsion of Jews from Judea, the fleeing of Greeks after the fall of
Constantinople, the African... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such meanings often bring the images of pain, grief, torture, political, social and psychological
pressure on the population undergoing this process of forced migration. But with time, the life
experiences and work of people for whom diaspora is no longer as tragic as it was for the earlier
generations, the word now seems to be in the process of redefinition. This paper gives an
optimistic approach to the redefinition of the word diaspora . It will discuss what are the common
viewpoints shared in the world about Diaspora, what can be the possible other side of the
situation(the positive approach), how is twenty first century diaspora different and finally it will
also highlight how a twenty first century migrant can make diaspora a successful life changing
experience by accepting the dual

Food Relationships
Food Relationships The past few days I have been trying to change my fast food eating habits.
Unfortunately, this
weekend was my official departure from the healthy diet I have been trying, and I mean trying hard,
to
eat all semester long. While, I have been better about exericse, diet on the other hand, has been my
demise! My girlfriend has been cooking me some spinach, baked chicken, rice, fish, lean beef and
pork, tofu and plenty of other nutritious foods. However, that came to a screeching halt this
weekend.
I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a
result, I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the
sweet corn and cheesy macaroni as side dishes, released more endorphins than a marathon runner s
high!
Unfortunately, the fat and calorie rife meal of a lifetime, after several but fish, chicken breast, pork
and water, did not end with Colonel Sanders brand of comfort food. After eating such high calorie,
high fat foods, I figured my attempt to keep healthy was ruined. I started to have sugar cravings.
I don t mean fruit sugars, I mean cake batter and cookies and cream flavored yogurt topped with
mini M M s, cheesecake pieces and gummy bears! Baskin Robbins was right across the street, so I
took myself there and ate a double dipped waffle cone with all the toppings and trimmings.
Truth is, fast food is cheap, tastes great, and much

Coyote Steals Fire And Master Cat Analysis
Not so fast, growled Thunder. Coyote won the game and so I give him the fire. But he cheated.
And for that I shall take his life. Where is he so that I can kill him? Thunder said this In Coyote
Steals Fire to all the animals Coyote called to help him take the fire rock away. Thunder was
angry because Coyote cheated to get his way. Coyote Steals Fire is a trickster story where animals
lie and deceive to get their way. In Master Catthe King says Tell your master that I am grateful to
him and that he has given me great pleasure. The king is pleased with the cat s master because
the cat has been given him gifts in his name. Master Cat is giving him gifts to get on the good
side of the king for his later exploits. In the trickster tale Coyote Steals Fire and the fairy tale
Master Cat there were some similarities but, many more differences. There are a few similarities in
Coyote Steals Fire and the story Master Cat. The very first similarityis the use of
anthropomorphism. Both of the animals and the tales think and plot, they hold intelligent
conversations and make detailed decisions. Coyote makes the decision to cheat in the gambling
game and he makes and conjugates the plan on how to cheat Thunder. Master Cat uses gifts to
gain the trust of the king so he would easily believe him at later on. Master Cat and Coyote also
use very similar methods to obtain their goal. They both use lies, elaborate plans they made, and
verbal fibs. Master Cat decieves with fake trust

  • 2. Warhol And The Pop Art Movement Andy Warhol being not simply a Pop artist, but an American artist who was known as the master of Pop Art, and about two of Warhol s most famous paintings; Coca Cola and Campbell s Soup Cans. Andy Warhol was an artist and filmmaker, an initiator for the Pop Art movement in the 1960s. Warhol used mass production techniques to elevate art into the supposed unoriginality of the commercial culture of the United States. Warhol s early drawings frequently recalls the Anglo Saxon tradition of nonsense humor, a characteristically childlike exuberance, and the fact that Warhol was successfully earning a living in the advertising industry at the time was sufficient for many to dismiss his entire artistic output during this period as commercial art . Fifty years ago, Pop artcaptured the spirit of Warhol s young art, but that basic structure has been (to most people) a revealing profitless movement for years. You could be stigmatized in many different ways such as how you look, if you are handicapped or not, or even if you are from a different ethnicity. Goffman defines three different primary typologies of stigma and they are: (1) abomination of the body, which means someone has physical disabilities, (2) Blemishes of individual character, meaning moral failing such as rapist, sex offender, and (3) tribal stigma, meaning your ethnical background and religion (Pontell, 2016, p. 96 97). I say this because now a days in a society if you are from a different ethnical background, it would not hold you back in some opportunity and in some places it would but it is not the same as it used to be back in the days. And as of individual who are handicapped are stigmatized because we assume that he/she might not be able to do the job and somewhere I think that individuals who are handicap might think the same for themselves and would be held back from opportunities. But if you have a blemish in your character, such as if you are labeled as rapist or sex offender, you are always going to be seen as a bad person. A global leader has a lot of things in common with an effective innovator and one of the principal similarities between the two involves their ability to coordinate teams with the purpose of achieving goals in a limited amount of time and with as little impediments as possible. It is only safe to say that innovation is a teamsport and that a global leader thus needs to focus on this concept in order to be able to assist his subordinates in meeting deadlines. In most cases global leaders feel that it is not up to them to come up with innovative solutions. Rather, they feel responsible for facilitating the innovation process. (Dyer, Gregersen, Christensen) Even with the fact that being an entrepreneur in many cases means having to criticize creative individuals for failing to play an active part in the actual production process, there is much more to being a global leader. Such a person basically needs to employ complex attitudes in order for him or her to be able to cooperate effectively with all of his or her subordinates. Effective innovators are in some situations less concerned about matters like discipline or accountability. This is why it is difficult for many global leaders to be able to adopt attitudes that would involve innovation, as they are unwilling to take risks and thus believe that they should solely concentrate on increasing profits through employing rational actions. Similar to how global leaders are reluctant to consider innovation as a strategy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But without a doubt, universities have a rational basis for excluding some students while rejecting others. A university does not have the means to accept every single person that applies; it s just not feasible. Therefore, they can create guidelines for granting a student admission. For example, examining GPA, standardized test scores, organizational involvement, community service hours, and the like, are ways that universities can accept or deny students. Not only is this rational, but it s also necessary to ensure a universities success. On the other hand, strict scrutiny is a far more nitpicky. If a university implements standards that use race as a factor, then it calls for for the most exacting judicial scrutiny (Bakke, 438 U.S. 265 (1978). Grutter and Fisher dealt with this precise question: Does using race as a factor in university admissions violate the Equal Protection Clause? In exact situations, it does not. If the admissions provisions are of the narrowly tailoring construct, it is permissible. Now let us turn to examining the nuances of Grutter and Fisher. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections. The sci fi film explored the potential outcome of cloning dinosaurs from prehistoric DNA. The velociraptors, dilophosaurus , and triceratops seemed to thrive from the beginning of the movie, hunting down prey. They had access to the appropriate food, had appropriate habitats, and never seemed to struggle. In reality, however, if scientists had the correct technology, dinosaurs would most likely not be able to adapt to today s environment the way they did in the film. In the 21st century, current dangers include climate change, food sources, and bacteria. The way dinosaurs adapt fully depend on scenarios based on their surroundings. Climate change has changed drastically since the age of the dinosaurs. Ice caps have melted, more frequent wildfires have occured, and the number of tropical storms has increased. Humans have been able to survive with this change. Dinosaurs, however, are cold blooded, meaning they adapt their body temperatures to their environment. The government of Canada officially passed the Medical Care Act in 1966, which created a universal health care system for all Canadians. For this reason, Canadians find great pride in the fact that all people in Canada have equal access to medical care. However, this law did not easily come about, it took much time and persuasion to even be considered. Tommy Douglas began the fight for universal health care for all Canadians in 1961 when he left the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation in Saskatchewan to be a part of the federal government (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). Douglas had the idea of giving all Canadians universal health care after he had succeeded in doing this for the people of Saskatchewan. After proving his outrageous idea of medical care being partially paid for by the government, it was easy to convince the rest of Canada. For only a small fee each month, Saskatchewan residents had their medical bills partially paid for and after only two years provincial debt was reduced by twenty million dollars (Colyer, et al, 2010, p.326). These same rules were implemented in the rest of Canada as a result of the 1966 Medical Care Act (Health Canada, 2012, online). Competition was pride and a sense of bettering oneself to achieve greater goals. Hesiod is the first to correlate man to material. Man becomes what he creates. The desire to learn and grow invests itself in competition by the conception of medicine, sports, art, writing, language, and war. Everything in Greek society was recognized as either a tool or a product. • 44. Break Someone s Heart For Christmas Research Paper The Time I Decided to Break Someone s Heart for Christmas It was in the middle of December, close to Christmas. I was with my girlfriend, who is my current ex, and we were breaking up. You still want to hang out after school? she simply responded with yeah . her voice was soft and feminine, like listening to mother speak to a small child. Okay, Dunkin? I wanted to try and spend some time with her and not succumb to my hormones for once so I asked to go to a public place. She agreed with a bright pleasant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Controversy Of Diaspora The debate on Diaspora has been an ever going debate that has transformed itself with time. The real meaning of the term diaspora has with time somewhere now eroded and become a more of an individual subjective word whose meaning and interjections vary from person to person. The original word comes from Greek word ОґО№О±ПѓПЂОїПЃО¬ which means scattering, dispersion and which described the emigration of Greeks to colonise and assimilate a recently conquered territory. Later, the term was referred to a scattered population whose origin lies within a smaller geographic locale. It is also referred to the movement of the population from its original homeland. Unfortunately, this weekend was my official departure from the healthy diet I have been trying, and I mean trying hard, to eat all semester long. While, I have been better about exericse, diet on the other hand, has been my demise! My girlfriend has been cooking me some spinach, baked chicken, rice, fish, lean beef and pork, tofu and plenty of other nutritious foods. However, that came to a screeching halt this weekend. I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a result, I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the sweet corn and cheesy macaroni as side dishes, released more endorphins than a marathon runner s high! Unfortunately, the fat and calorie rife meal of a lifetime, after several but fish, chicken breast, pork and water, did not end with Colonel Sanders brand of comfort food. After eating such high calorie, high fat foods, I figured my attempt to keep healthy was ruined. I started to have sugar cravings. I don t mean fruit sugars, I mean cake batter and cookies and cream flavored yogurt topped with mini M M s, cheesecake pieces and gummy bears! Baskin Robbins was right across the street, so I took myself there and ate a double dipped waffle cone with all the toppings and trimmings. Truth is, fast food is cheap, tastes great, and much ...
