Reflection On Social Work Ethics
Coming into Ethics, I didn t really know what I was going to learn. I always thought ethics what black
and white. I soon found out there is more to ethics then I thought. I ve learned a lot in 204 from
decision making models to the CSAW. The decisions we make in social work are fundamental part our
professional practice and ethical awareness. The commitment and ability to act ethically is a must in
the service we offer our services too. The ethical issues we face will inevitably challenge us and make
us think critical of our flection of actions. Every day we will be faced with dramatic situations that are
very stressful, but we need to keep things professional and ethical at all times. We will end up dealing
with touch decisions with clients that have the potential for benefit or harm and we have to judge at
the time if it s ethical or not, and we definitely won t always make right discussions. Using the
knowledge I ve gained from SOWK 204 it will help me write this paper and help prepare me for the
field. I have chosen do scenario number four, along with using Reamer s Model: Social Work Ethics
and Shaefor and Horejsi ethical dilemma framework.
The ethical theory deontology is our duty and obligation based on ethic s judged by the morality of an
action. That being said based on the scenario, it s our duty to stand up for our other student and make
sure they are not being dehumanized in any way. In an effort for them to be treated as equal and fairly.

Napoleon Bonaparte Isolation
The French Revolution brought about a new era in Europe through Enlightenment ideas. The greatest
product of the Revolution was Napoleon Bonaparte. Without the Revolution Napoleon s genius at
military tactics and statesmen charisma would be lost. There is only greatness in people if given the
opportunity to show that greatness. Napoleon s life is not merely one of conquest and domination, but
a series of opportunities gained through the Revolution. Napoleon had great promise in his youth that
would have otherwise been subject to a menial military career. His journey from birth to Emperor of
France dictates more than megalomania; it is a passion to create an egalitarian Europe free from the
rule of Kingdoms. In every station of his life; childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a discourse around France calling for reform and complaints from all castes of French
society, but none, not even Napoleon, could anticipate the events about to unfold. The storming of the
Bastille in on July 14th, 1789 did not lead Napoleon to cheer for the liberation of France, but more the
liberation of his beloved Corsica. As Napoleon put it, not the least craziness about the French
Revolution is that those who once put us to death as rebels are today our protectors, are motivated by
our sentiments (Englund, 39). The Revolution meant to Napoleon that his dream of a free Corsican
Republic was at last possible. However, with the emigration of the nobility out of France left few
officers to lead the military and kept Napoleon in France for a time. Napoleon was one of the few that
stayed and fought for the Republic. He was sent to Toulon to help repel the British fleet. The fact that
Napoleon was ambitious and assertive does not diminish the fact that he believed in the values of the
Enlightenment. Napoleon fought for the Republic continuously proving his loyalty to the Republic
and the Revolution. Napoleon s victories throughout Italy were to liberate people from the oppression
of foreign rule. This being said it is not a mistake that he did not have much faith in the ability of
common men to maintain said freedom. A look at Bonaparte s letters indicates that what surprised and

Negative Events Of The 1980s
Although the 1980s was a wonderful decade, there were some negative events. The 1980s contained
many assassinations, such as John Lennon, Anwar Sadat, Marvin Gaye, Indira Gandhi, and Olof
Palme
John Lennon, an English musician, was a member of the legendary rock band, the Beatles. Mark
David Chapman assassinated him at only forty years old. He shot two bullets in the left side of Lennon
s back and another two bullets in his left shoulder with a Charter Arms .38 caliber pistol. He was
declared dead when he arrived at Roosevelt Hospital. The murder took place in the archway of The
Dakota in New York, New York on December 8,1980. On December 10, 1980 he was cremated at the

Which Social Forces Influence My Choice In A Mate
When I first read the question Which social forces influence my choice in a mate, the first thing that
came to mind was not sex, age, race, or social class. At first I didn t think these were factors in
choosing a mate, but after reading about it more, this is actually the main factors people look at when
choosing a mate. As I began to think which factors matter to me, I quickly realized that sex, age, race,
and social class all matter to me. Also there is another very important factor that matters when
choosing a mate and that is religion. My family raised me in a Southern Baptist Church all my life, so
religion would be another factor that influenced my choice in a mate.

Reflection On Child Development
When i evaluate my school year many things come to mind i think about friends,i think about the
highs and lows, i also think about how much i grew. my 7th grade year at cms was full of concepts
learned,memorable experiences, and personal growth.
Concepts learned. In mrs.sanchez 5th period class we learned about sexual reproduction with
grasshoppers. We learned about the genes and what sexual reproduction means. Sexual reproduction
means a genetic material from 2 parents combined to make a new organism. And also meiosis sperm
an egg during chromosomes the pairs separate. A fun memory i had these days we re working with my
group and they would think it was weird everytime they say sexual reproduction.we also learned that
chromosomes theory of inheritance genes are carried from parents to their offspring on chromosomes.
A question me and my group had was why do they travel in pairs? we never answered it. We also
learned about mendel s work. Mendel s work showed that the dominant alleles don t come up as
present when another is present. Each human has 23 chromosomes. And grasshoppers have 24
chromosomes which is just 12 pair. Some more questions my group had was do other insects have
more chromosomes? And can more than half of a parent s chromosomes go to its offspring? And
before we started we had to write down a question and it was what is mendel s work? sutton
hypothesize that chromosomes were the key to understanding how offspring have traits similar to

Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Study
Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social Learning Theory. Unlike
the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behavior of
the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with
others in a social context. Moreover, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to copy and
develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formulated as new trends in
distance education programs continue to emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs continues to
increase the physical distance between educators and students (Smith Berge, 2009). There are three
key components to Bandura s social learning theory (Abbott, n.d.) that are manifesting themselves in

After observing the behavior of others, people then assimilate and imitate that behavior, especially if
their observational experiences are positive ones or include rewards related to the observed behavior.
According to Bandura (Smith Berge, 2009), this kind of imitation involves the actual reproduction of
observed motor activities. This kind of learning through observing can also be reinforced. Bandura
called this as vicarious reinforcement. What he meant is that when the child observes someone else
being rewarded for a particular behavior this then affects the child in the same way as it would had
that the child produced the same behavior and been rewarded for it. Similarly, vicarious punishment is
possible where the child observes a model being punished for a behavior thus the child is less likely to
produce the behavior because of this observation. This kind of reinforcement creates a chain of
thought for the The presence of such reinforcement stimulate the reward centers of our brain that

The Effects Of Gendered Representations On Advertising
The Effects of Gendered Representations in Advertising
This essay discusses the representations of women in media and advertising, including the effects they
have on individuals in society. Firstly, I will review the literature on stereotypical gender roles within
media and advertising. This will include traditional roles such as the housewife, and modern roles
such as the sex object. Secondly, I will critically evaluate and examine the effects of these roles on
women, and even men, in today s society. Effects include body dissatisfaction, thin idealisation and, in
extreme cases, violence against women. Thirdly, I will aim to make conclusions on whether gender
representations and roles within media have impacts on men and women in society.
During the rise of the feminist movement in the late 20th century, a significant body of research
emphasised that media and advertising can affect the behaviours, knowledge and beliefs of
individuals. The mass media can influence attitudes and opinions, either immediately or gradually,
which may shape social norms (Lazarsfeld, 1948, p.249). In particular, researchers have argued that
advertising plays a huge role in affecting the attitudes and behaviours of individuals in society
(Courtney and Lockeretz, 1971, Kolbe and Langefeld, 1991; Harrison and Hefner, 2006; Stankiewicz
and Rosselli, 2008; Ifezue, 2010). Advertising may be referred to as a persuasive and repetitive form
of communication (Panarese, 2014, p.100), which occupies

Seismic Imaging Project
Seismic imaging is a tool that bounces sound waves off underground rock structures to reveal possible
crude oil and natural gas bearing formations. Ultra sensitive devices named as geophones are used by
the seismologists to document the sound waves as the echo in the earth. After the short research on the
echoes, geologists start calculating the depth and systems of buried geologic formations. This kind of
evaluation may assist them to identify oil and gas bearing reservoirs which are hiding underneath the

The critical infrastructure includes telecommunication, transportation, energy, banking, finance, water
supply, emergency services, government services, agriculture, and other fundamental systems and
services that are critical to the security, economic prosperity, and social well being of the public. The
critical infrastructure is characterized by interdependencies and complexity. Cyber interdependencies
are a result of the pervasive computerization and automation of infrastructures. The critical
infrastructure disruptions can, directly and indirectly, affect other infrastructures, impact large
geographic regions, and send ripples throughout the national and global economy. For example, under
normal operating conditions, the electric power infrastructure requires fuels, transportation, water,
banking and finance, telecommunication, and SCADA systems for monitoring and control. There is a
growing concern about the security and safety of the SCADA control systems in terms of
vulnerabilities, lack of protection, and awareness. Therefore, information security management
principles and processes need to be applied to SCADA systems without exception. 3. Discuss the pros

In the road construction business, safety is important, and crash trucks can help greatly with this. This
does not mean that your road construction company needs to go out and buy crash trucks right away,
however. Instead, you can consider renting them. These are a few reasons why this can be a better
choice. 1. Rent Crash Trucks That are Convenient to Your Work Location If your road construction
company does work all over the state or even in other states, you might find that transporting all of
your equipment is a hassle. One thing that you can avoid transporting is your crash trucks. If you rent
them, you can rent from a convenient location from where you will be working. This can eliminate
some of the hassle. 2. Ensure You Have the Right

My Life During The Summer After I Walked A Mile Essay
During the summer after I turned thirteen, I went on a vacation that changed my entire perspective on
life. Americans are so spoiled. I remember hearing my mother proclaim this numerous times growing
up. I would shake my head or roll my eyes every time, since I never quite understood what it meant.
Of course, I had nothing to compare it to. I grew up in the suburbs in a middle class family. I never
wanted for anything. I heard the stories of my mother and her siblings growing up; they lived in filth,
they occasionally skipped meals, all seven kids slept huddled together on concrete floors. I heard those
stories as if she was saying, ...I walked a mile to school, uphill both ways... I never could have
imagined the reality of what the stories truly meant until I visited my birthplace, the Philippines, for
the first time. I was stubborn preteen, and I couldn t understand why my mother was forcing me to
accompany her. I wasn t familiar with my family in the Philippines and I didn t speak the language. I
tried everything I could to get out of it, nevertheless, my mother insisted it would be a memorable
experience. It was a long, twenty one hour flight across the Pacific Ocean. My uncle, whom I hadn t
remembered ever meeting, picked us up in the terminal. My mother whispered and reminded me to be
polite, to honor my elders by remembering to bless them. Embarrassed, and with a slight roll of my
eyes, I obediently bowed my head and placed the top of his hand to my forehead. I

Resistance By Bachrach Debor The Resistance
Resistance is seen in many parts of daily life. For example, take a baby that will not eat its food and
hits the food away when the food is brought to close to the babies mouth. Or a dog that refuses to go
on a walk after a person has put on the dog s leash. One of the most important aspects of resistance is
refusing. This is because it shows what a person believes in and what a person will do to achieve their
beliefs. In genocide, few people resist the group in power because most victims are too afraid to show
what they believe in because of the repercussions. Those who do resist the group in power strongly
believe that what the group in power is doing is wrong. People who resist genocide make a difference
in the outcome of the genocide by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the book The Faces of Resistance, author Stuart Kallen gives examples of people who
resisted the Holocaust. He does so by going into depth of their situations and in what ways they
resisted the Nazis. One of the examples was a man named Raoul Wallenberg who saved 100,000 lives
at the cost of his own life. Wallenberg gave Jews passports bearing the Swedish seal. Wallenberg set
up hospitals, nurseries, and soup kitchens. When Nazis began death marches Wallenberg issued
thousands of Swedish safe passes. He followed groups of Nazis that were carrying Jews. Wallenberg
also protested for the release of Jews from German and Hungarian custody. Wallenberg began offering
bribes and he stood between Jews and their captors saying that they should take him instead. He also
forged papers and driver s licenses (Kallen). As seen here, Raoull Wallenberg took every possible step
to ensure he could save as many Jews as possible from captivity. In any genocide, if more people are
brave enough to risk their own lives to save the victims of the genocide, then there would not be
nearly as many casualties. In conclusion, if more people were willing to risk their lives for victims of
the genocide then there would not be nearly as many deaths in the outcome of the

My Family Holiday Essay
Charlotte McIntyre Today was going to be one most irritating day for my family and we didn t know
it. We thought our family holiday was going great there hadn t been any of the arguments that cause
my mother to say that it pack everything we are going back home, i have had enough . Even if she had
said that i would highly doubt that she would get the car all packed to drive ten hour back down the
road. Today is the last full day of our trip so we decided to visit friends of my mum and dad s, they
lived around an hour away from the holiday park so we got all ready to set of on our little trip.
Finally manage to get all ready and we all climb into our car. So we set of driving along the little road
out of the holiday park that led onto the main road. Driving along happily looking out the window at
all the brightly green grassed fields and watching the cars passing. We were just about at our
destination, we turn up this turn off and drove underneath a huge bridge. The road was so curvy and i
could feel my stomach being shaken around like a mixing blender, finally we got of that road. I
noticed a sign that said welcome to portsmouth
My dad s face look amazed and filled with joy that we have managed to get there without any
problem, well he spoke to soon. Around the corner we went past a few pubs and restaurants they look
very run down but anyway we reached a set of traffic lights and we ended up getting stuck at the red
light. It felt like everyone and there

1960 s Sexual Revolution
The sexual revolution of the 1960 s was a time of great importance to modern America. The changes
that occurred across America changed our country as a whole, its influence spread from LA to New
York to the Heartland of America , Lawrence Kansas. This revolution occurred at a critical point in
world history as well. A new type of society formed with soldiers returning from WWII and people
began to incorporate themselves with those who matched their identity and not just those
geographically near them. People were frustrated and they wanted their voice to be heard, and now

became more connected publicly and tuned in to the world around them, supporting evidence being

through the war and all young men and women realized that they disagreed with their parents values,
from the war, to politics, and especially to sex. These same young men and women were empowered
by each other to make a change to society. They knew that they were the future of America and that
the values of their parents were of little importance to them. They saw the hate and bloodshed and evil
against those they valued equal and that sparked the revolt. A young man states in the Oread daily, you

Goals For Swimming Research Paper
If you could chose between swimming and running, what would you chose? The key is that swimming
encompasses much more that just doing laps in a pool. It is going out in the ocean and exploring
shipwrecks and coral reefs. It is playing water polo with a group of friends on holiday or just having
fun messing around in the water. Swimming is important because it allows me to actively participate
in physical activities by being enjoyable, makes me want to continue physical activity so I can
maintain a healthy body, and allows me to establish goals for my future by challenging me. First,

I like to swim because I ignore what everyone else is doing and focus on myself. The times of other
swimmers and their form compared to mine is not important because what matters to me is that I
challenge myself and improve. Because of this, I set a goal for myself, and then take baby steps to
reach that goal. An example of this is when I was training to become a certified scuba diver. At first, I
was not the best at swimming because I never really learned how to do it properly. I took baby steps to
achieving my goal of certification, and it started with learning proper form for the flutter kick. I
worked with my instructor and had it done within a day. Then, I moved on to doing the flutter kick
with flippers. I did that, and then moved on to doing that with the scuba gear on. This took about two
days to get down, but I was able to get certified after I had finished that. This is just an example, and a
goal that I am working towards right now in my life is improving the balance of strength in my
muscles. The right side of my body is stronger than my left side so I am going swimming at the local
YMCA in order to help make my body more balanced. This goal arose from me wanting to challenge
myself because when I am swimming, it doesn t matter what kind of shape I am in, I can still improve
upon it. To summarize, swimming is important because it allows me to

Factors For The Fall Of The Carolingian Empire
The Carolingian Empire included much of the Western and central Europe however it collapsed in
fewer than hundred years after the death of Charlemagne in 814. several factors caused weakening of
the Carolingian Empire. The division of Frankish lands many of the male individuals of the
Carolingian dynasty was a primary aspect.
numerous factors contributed to the fall of the Carolingian Empire but the department of Frankish
lands among male individuals of the Carolingian dynasty become one of the most important causes for
its downfall because it led to fragmentation of Charlemagne s empire. In reality, the creation of the

Castration Anxiety And Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows Sally and her friends when they take a trip to see her grandfather s

cannibals living next door. The sole survivor is Sally. Teeth follows teen virgin Dawn who after being
raped realizes she has vagina dentata, she then harnesses it with the intent of avenging herself against
those who have wronged her. In order to compare these two films, I will be analyzing how each
interacts with the concept of castration anxiety. Castration anxiety as outlined by Freud is when a boy
looks at his mother and realizes she does not have a penis, he views his mom as castrated and thus to
him his mother is a warning of his castration. Carol Clover in Her Body Himself and Dumas in Horror

castration anxiety is not only fear of penile harm but of one s power being taken away. ... Show more

smiles and turns around ready to seduce the man. The song You Did by Chuck Prophet starts playing

The Proxy War And The Korean War
Proxy Wars.
In the 1947 the Cold war began with two superpowers, the United States and the USSR interested in
Eastern Europe. Different Ideologies Communism and Capitalism became the issues in different
countries. They fought over which countries would go to communism or capitalism. These countries
included Greece and Turkey, the Suez crisis, The Vietnam war and one of the biggest proxy wars that
still have tension today, the Korean War. The Korean war between communist north Korea and their
allies were the USSR and China while South Korea was an ally of the United States. The war started
in June of 1950 through July 1953, even though it lasted 3 years it became one of the deadliest wars in
modern history, US believed that if the USSR were to take Korea that ¾ of the world would become
communism and so through the US containment policy, they became involved so communism would
not spread.
The reason the United states decided to take action was because a non communist country was getting
attacked by a communist country and their duty was to interfere and stop the attack. The soviets also
wanted to intervene in countries like Greece and Turkey. This brought up the Marshall plan. The
Marshall plan was a European Recovery Program that gave assistance to European countries to help
them grow and prevent communism. The US also brought in the Truman Doctrine which was an
American external dogma to counter the spread of USSR political ideas such as communism.
Therefore, As Soviets

Central African Republic
You cannot have peace without security and you cannot have effective security without peace. In
August of this year, there was an estimate of 400 bodies that were collected across Bangui, the capital
of the Central African Republic. This number was acquired in just three days and it served as a huge
wake up call for the Central Africans. However, it was not long before another revolt that left twelve
people dead, thirty people wounded, and children were not spared. Meanwhile in Denmark, reports are
showing that they are stressing the protections of civil rights and humane treatment. For this reason,
the county of Denmark is at an all time low of violence and misconducts. The Central African
Republic separated itself from Boganda in December of 1958. However, all went wrong when
Bokassa was elected president and eventually president for life in 1968. Denmark on the other hand
went through a terrible slump when under German control. Innocent Danish people were arrested
during World War II. In reaction to how poorly their people were treated, the Danish government
designed a liberal system for all citizens, including inmates. According to Dr. Robert Winslow, the
final revisions were made in 2001 and today the country of Denmark leads Europe as far as well
designed security sectors. Obviously, the Central African Republic has a very dysfunctional security
sector however other countries around the globe such as Denmark have never been better.

Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The exact definition
for democracy is a system of government by the whole population of a state, typically through elected
members. The original idea of democracy that America s Founding Fathers promoted has shifted
throughout the years. America was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty and many of these
freedoms and liberties are being stripped away, or are at risk of being stripped away, by the American
government. America is no longer a democracy, but it is an oligarchy. America is considered an
oligarchy because of one reason, and that reason is that power lies in the hand of the elite wealthy. The
majority of the population in America belongs to the middle class. The preferences of most American
citizens have little impact on government. Instead, the responsiveness of government is strongly tilted
towards the most affluent citizens . Those who reap the benefits are the ones creating policies. As U.S.
supreme court justice, Louis Brandeis, stated, America can have democracy or it can have great wealth
concentrated in the hands of a few, but it cannot have both. Oligarchy and democracy cannot coexist.
It is true to say that since the founding of America, freedoms and rights of all who have inhabited this
land have greatly increased. However, in recent years, these rights have

Competing at National Little Britches Finals Lisa Lockhart a professional barrel racer said, Our horses

I was overjoyed, because we had beaten them and had won the national title. So I thought, when the

had not seen any of this. So as we waited for them to bring their calf back, I was so over the edge

that he went and talk to the judges, but they were assholes and did not disqualify them like they should

Examples Of Metatheory
There are many metatheoretical traditions that have influenced modern social sciences as we know it
today. This essay critically compares the two different concepts such as objectivity and neutrality in
various educational theories and systems such as: Missionary education, Apartheid education, Post
Apartheid education, Revised National Curriculum Statement (RNCS) and Curriculum Assessment
Policy Statement (CAPS). We discuss the applications of these two seemingly different concepts and
their application in different educational theories such as: Constructivism, behaviorism and social
cognition. Furthermore, we discuss objectivity and neutrality in various educational contexts. I will
attempt to show that education cannot be neutral if the objectives are politically and economically
driven.
Defining metatheory
Metatheory is the study aimed at understanding the nature of social inquiry (Babbie Mouton, 1998).
There are different names for metatheory such as: metascience, philosophy of science and the
epistemology of science (Babbie Mouton, 1998). According to Babbie and Mouton metatheory has a
three world s framework: world one inquires about the nature of society and human conduct, world
two aims to understand social inquiry and then lastly world three the methodologies used in

Social sciences views objectivity as: not something entirely distinct from detachment of fairness and
honesty (Fay, Pomper, Vann, 1998). However it is a way in rather improving invaluable and important
inflexible virtues. In social science neutrality can similarly be seen as the idiom sitting on a fence
which is why it is hard or even impossible to achieve neutrality in social science. Neutrality can be
seen as being impartial towards facts. In this essay we will be following the definitions of objectivity
and neutrality as seen in the social

The Importance Of Pride In Fences By Agust Wilson
In history, a lot of great man have fallen do to pride and selfishness, In the bible it says Lucifer clearly
turned out to be so awed with his own particular excellence, knowledge, power, and position that he
started to want for himself the respect and transcendence that had a place with God alone. The
transgression that ruined Lucifer was self created pride. I used that lesson from the bible to say that
pride can lead to major life consequences. In fences by Agust Wilson we see a perfect example of that
when it comes to the main character, Troy is shown as a man who has hurt the people who are closest

the amount he has harmed them. In the first scene of the play his oldest son Lyons come to ask him for

Basic Rules of Driving
Before driving a car, you must learn first what road signs, colors, and sign shapes mean. You need to
learn what the different road signs mean and what they look like. There are many signs which you
must follow in order to get to your destination. It is very important that you learn all these before
actually driving. Another thing you must know is which lane you must drive in and how to turn into a
lane. The reason is because you cannot get into a car without knowing what to do while on the road. In
order to drive a car you must first take drivers training, if you have never driven a car. Then you take a
written test that includes all the information you have learned about the road. But, for now learning

The term safety comes first or more simply put, safety first, is a message that patients not only want to
hear, but also want to know is the focus of the professionals that are caring for them; in particular,

The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) has implemented two initiatives; Rocognising and
Responding Appropriately to Early Signs of Deterioration in Hospitalised Patients (NPSA, 2007) and
How to Guide: Five Steps to Safer Surgery (NPSA, 2010). Understanding that human beings make up

women and their health ever since the U.S. came to be. Women back in the 1900 s, especially the
brave women of color, who stood up and made a difference, were the preliminary force behind
advocacy for women s rights up until today. Women and supporters have built upon those early

billion, Jack Welch turned it into one of the largest and most admired companies in the world by the
time he stepped down as its CEO 20 years later, in 2000. Jack Welch used his uncanny instincts and
unique leadership strategies to run GE, the most complex organization in the world and increased its

Jack Welch s vision of what GE was possible of gave the company a vision for twenty years while he
was the CEO and chairman. He states, leaders make sure people not only see the vision, they live and
breathe it. (Winning, pg 67) He not only allowed for employees to stretch, but demanded it. In
teaching workers to stretch Welch knew that workers may fail. In fact, they probably will fail. But
stretching, and stretching the business, is going to improve performance results. (Jack Welch on
Leadership, pg 105) He also states that only by setting the performance bar high did it become
possible to discover people s capabilities. Jack Welch s emphasis on candor and breaking the
bureaucracy of modern business separated him from his contemporaries. He excited others of the
possibility of being the biggest and best company in the world and rewarding his best employees that
shared the values of GE. According to FORTUNE Editorial Director Geoffrey Colvin In The Ultimate

painful changes it demanded, and made them faster and more emphatically than anyone else in
business. He led managers into this new world, which we still inhabit, and just as important, he

artefacts from the Pandora and discover how they teach us about the everyday life of an 18th century
soldier.
Definition

more aspects involved that are all as significant. Archaeology can best be described as the study of
extinct human cultures (Woodbury, 2008). There are 3 different fields of archaeologist, these being

The Pandora wreck is considered to be a significant historical event as of it link to the mutiny on the
Bounty(Queensland Museum,20??). The wreck itself was great archaeological find has nearly 30% of
original hull was kept preserved along with many artefacts. This is due to what archaeologist refer to
as the Pompeii effect which means that all artefacts were remained unremoved from their original
state(Queensland Museum,20??). This is because once the ship sunk instead of completely breaking
apart on the seafloor the vessel held together and a layer of sand soon covered it shielding it from the
sun protecting all of the artefacts inside (Museum of Tropical Queensland, 2016: Field Notes).
Artefacts are best described as tangible items created by humans, just behind me you will notice two
artefacts found in the Pandora wreck edge, a spruce pot and a french pistol. Both of these artefacts can
reveal tons of information on what life was like for an 18th century english soldier. Let s start with the
spruce pots, spruce pots were small round bottles that contained medicine for when crew members
caught scurvy, in fact 200 of these spruce pots have been found. Scurvy is a very common disease for
sailors and was caused a by a deficiency in vitamin C (Museum of Tropical Queensland, 2016: Field
Notes). This artefact shows us how undernourished the soldiers and how this led them to contract
scurvy. During the long journeys the food would run out so Captain Edwards tried his best to keep the
ship loaded with fresh food to prevent any of the crew from getting sick. The second artefact is the
Flintlock Pistol and butt cap or more commonly know just as a French pistol. Although the Pandora
was never attacked all members were expected to know how to fire a gun (Museum of Tropical
Queensland, 2016: Field Notes). This can

The tattoo artist will dip the bone combs into the ink and puncture the skin repeatedly in order for the
ink to set into the skin. He works with two assistants that will stretch the skin and wipe the excess ink
off of the body. This process takes place while lying on mats put on the ground with the artist around
the patient. Usually family members will surround the space to give support to the man who is getting
the tattoo. If he was not to finish the tattoo, it is seen as a sign of weakness, and he will bring great
shame to him and his family. These tattoos could ultimately take weeks to finish and is a very painful
process to go through. Just sitting through what it takes to receive the tattoo shows a sign of strength
and having the tattoo is believed to bring good to who have it. Getting these tattoos takes a lot of
thought and consideration. Thinking about the different symbols that one wants inside the tattoo
depends solely on the reason they are getting it. The placement is also a factor that leads to the
meaning of the tattoo and can ultimately change what the whole thing stands for. Going through the

workers should have. It is an example people in general should follow. The quote is saying, if you do a
good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should waste your time seizing the moment

Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. Evolution of Importance: This quote explains my

How The Marine Resource Exploitation Is Essential For...
The importance of having access to waterways is essential for early settlement of citizens and for
military purposes. This dependent resource provides a more efficient transportation route as well as
access to marine resources such as fishing. Fish also became a source of protein diet and economic
trade values in both Chinese and Japanese cultures. In this essay, I will be using the Pseudosciaena
crocea also known as the Yellow croaker as my example.1 Yellow croaker got their name from the
noises that they make during the spawning season.2 I will also be addressing the problem of
overfishing and environmental consequences that arise. By analyzing the patterns of ecological
transformations within fishing disputes between China and Japan, we can see how marine resource
exploitation becomes a motivation to strengthen each perspective s nation state. Japan has one of the
longest histories of hunting gatherer societies in East Asia. Dating back to the Jomon, their diets
included a board range of plant, animal, and marine foods.3 The remains of the salmon bones show
that this fish was exploited from as early as the Incipient phase. Fast forward to the Yayoi period, rice,
without a doubt, was the most important crop, but barley, millet, and other cultivated and wild plants
were also consumed in large quantities.4 Others such as domesticated pigs and chicken are known
from Yayoi contexts but were still unclear whether or not it was used a food resource. Deer, wild

However, it s still too soon to tell whether this prediction will turn out to be true. Salesforce faces
significant challenges as it continues to grow and refine its business.
The first challenge comes from increased competition, both from traditional industry leaders and new
challengers hoping to replicate Salesforce s success. Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle have rolled out
subscription based versions of their CRM products in response to Salesforce. Smaller competitors like
NetSuite also have made some inroads against Salesforce s market share.
Analysts predict that Microsoft has a chance to compete with Salesforce by developing merely an
acceptable on demand CRM product, because of the average customer s already established
familiarity with Microsoft applications. Also, Microsoft plans to offer their product at half the price of
Salesforce.com, using a tactic they have employed with great effect in other marketplaces to pressure
their competitors. Salesforce.com still has plenty of catching up to do to reach the size and market
share of their larger competitors. As of 2007, SAP s CRM market share was 25.7 percent, compared to
only 7 percent for Salesforce.com. IBM s customer base includes 9,000 software companies that run
their applications on their software and that are likelier to choose a solution offered by IBM over

A Constitutional Amendment For Women Essay
Into parliament. In Bangladesh there had been a provision, which expired in 2000, to reserve 10% of
seats for women in parliament. This expiry resulted in a dramatic decrease in the number of female
legislators. A constitutional amendment in 2001 extended women‟s reserved seats from 30 to 45 for a
period of 10 years. Prior to this, the reserved seats of 30 enacted in 1978 were about the only route for
women into parliament. In 1996, 11 or 3.6% of the seats in the first post the post system was won by
women. In 2001 this dropped to 6 or only 2% of the seats in parliament. In 2005, a law increased the
overall number of seats in parliament, and 45 of these were reserved for women. These were allocated
to political parties on the share of the national vote received in the elections, and the number of
women increased to 13% of the seats in the 2005 elections, and in 2008 this increased to 18.6%. In
Bangladesh, 19 women won out of the 300 constituency seats, to join 45 appointed women members.
The number of women holding ministerial portfolios has never exceeded 3%. As of 2009, nearly 80%
of parliamentary standing committees have no women. With the addition of the 45 reserved seats in
November 2009, women are now 14.8% of the total positions. Begum has commented: The mode of
nomination for reserving seats lies exclusively with political parties. A woman selected from the
reserved quota has to represent an area more than ten times larger than those of the general seats. The

which eventually led to violence and the deaths of some civilians. Satti explains, ...I heard gunfire

even a day to day civilian did not care for seeing weapons on the street being used as commonly as
seeing day to day occurrences like going to the store or going to work. The Islamic Revolution also
did step backward towards the Iranian people by how after Ayatollah Khomeini was elected into
power, the riots against him started after they stopped agreeing with him. Sati states, On December 2,
1978, Moharram arrived and during its ten days the violence increased again. Ayatollah Khomeini

An Enzyme is a protein, which is capable of starting a chemical reaction, which involves the

will be explaining the experiment held to understand the effects of the changes in the amount of
substrate on the enzyme s reaction.
Research question:

Use this data to calculate the rate of reaction of this enzyme 6. Plan and conduct your own
investigation into one other factor that affects the activity of catalase, you may use this as the basis for
your investigation but if it is to be for moderation of internal assessment you must modify it

Results: Different type of hydrogen peroxide | Volume of foam cm³ | 0.5% | 5 cm³ | 1% | 7 cm³ | 2% |
13 cm³ | 4% | 21 cm³ | 6% | 24 cm³ |
The volume of the foam using different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide:
Conclusion:
As I forecasted the results proved correct that, the more concentrated the hydrogen peroxide is the
higher the volume of the foam is and the less concentrated the hydrogen peroxide is the lower the
volume of the foam will become. Other than the table of results the graph is also evidence to my true
hypothesis. Each time the concentration of hydrogen peroxide doubles the level of foam increases but
the more the concentration the foam reaches its constant point therefore slowly increasing. An
example is when the 2% concentration of hydrogen peroxide was added the foam level was 13cm³ but
when 4% was added to the next trial the level of foam greatly increased to 21 cm³ and as it reached its
constant point, when 6% it slowed down and increased only 3 cm³ more which became 24 cm³.

Lamm 212). The middle ground between these two arguments was known as Conceptualism, put forth
by Peter Abelard, it suggests that reality as idea exists only in the sense apparent object (Robert E.
Lamm 213). Monasticism was a way of life for those who thought everyday life too sinful, and
decided to devote themselves to God, either communally in the monastery or lavriote, a life of
solitude. St Benedict around five hundred and forty AD set down rules which were to become the
basis for monastic life in the Catholic church; poverty, obedience, chastity, and work. In these
monasteries theology was preserved. A different form of monasticism developed in Ireland due to the
fact it was isolated from the rest of Europe. Monks were more like the hermits of Egypt rather those of
Roman Christianity. Scholarship developed in these monasteries, also a new form of art called
Hiberno Saxon. These monasteries kept literacy skills alive. Monks would transcribe and decorate
sacred texts by hand. Such texts include the Book of Kells and the Lindisfaire

Hate and Love in Romeo and Juliet
Romeo states in Act 1, Here is much to do with hate, but more with. By analyzing the many forms
love takes in the play, explore whether Romeo was right in his contention.
Romeo and Juliet, the tragic play by William Shakespeare, centers around the love story between
Romeo, the young heir of the Montagues, and Juliet, the daughter of the house of Capulet. Because of
an on going feud between the two families, Romeo and Juliet are forced to keep their love a secret,
marry in secret and, due to ill fated consequences; they die together in the tomb of the Capulets.
Romeo and Juliet has to be one of the most famous love stories ever written, however to every good
thing there is in life, there is a bad, an opposite or an inverse. In our ... Show more content on

Friar Lawrence s place in the play is in between these two opposites, as is the nurses. In Act 2, scene 5
after returning from her first mission to Romeo, Juliet s Nurse tells her impatient mistress, I am the
drudge, and toil in your delight . At this point, we are inclined to take the Nurse at her word. When we
first encounter her in Act I, scene 3, the Nurse of Romeo and Juliet appears to be a comic character
given to bawdy humor and innuendo, but this coarse character is softened by her fondness for Juliet.
In Friar Lawrence s case I think when he agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet It is a desperate attempt to
fuse together two opposites to end the skirmish between the two families. County Paris is juxtaposed
with Romeo throughout the play, and by doing so; Shakespeare highlights the extraordinary nature of
Romeo s love for Juliet. Paris is completely ignorant of the romance between Romeo and Juliet, and
so while his own suit for Juliet threatens the lovers plans, he is not a blocking character. Moreover, in
the tomb scene, Paris acquits himself well, displaying a depth of affection for Juliet and earning
Romeo s praise. Juliet on the other and has absolutely no interest in Paris, this is another illustration of
unrequited love. Taking this into consideration I believe that Paris does not only love Juliet out of lust
because in the tomb scene Paris puts his own life on the line to save the one he claims to love. Alas his

How Eucalyptus Oil Has Been Used By Indigenous People
Eucalyptus oil has been used by the indigenous people of Australia for centuries to relieve everything
from aches and pains to cold and flu symptoms. The oil is extracted by distillation from dried
eucalyptus leaves, and is used in everything from analgesic gels to cough drops. In terms of
application today, eucalyptus oil is used in insect repellent, shaving balm, soap, shampoo, cough
suppressant, disinfectant, asthma treatment, for managing blood sugar with diabetes, treating cold
sores, easing pain, freshening breath, and other uses too numerous to mention. I personally love my
eucalyptus oil base shaving soap and aftershave balm, as it both prevents and soothes the irritation of

Mixing a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil in with some coconut oil or your favorite
moisturizer/lotion and applying to sore hands, arms, or legs can really ease up the aching sensation,
and alleviate some of the pain of arthritis. If you want to give it a little boost in terms of potency, try
adding a little peppermint oil for good measure. Not only do the aroma and tingling sensation help
relieve your pain and aching, but they also boost your mood and reduce your overall stress

Crisis Of Identity Essay
Crisis of identity has been a powerful conflict throughout American literature. Suffering, destruction,
and distress initiate when characters are unable to disengage and disburden themselves from the
conflict of who they are. In American literature, crisis of identity can be caused by ethnic background,
society, family, history, and other influences. Through the novels, The Joy Luck Club and The
Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, the characters are engaged with the theme search for
self, which results in them experiencing crisis of identity. Arnold Spirit Jr. is epigrammatic, skillful,
creative, and a warrior. Junior is brilliant and fights for his education, but he is bullied and alienated as

At his new school, Reardan, Junior is an outcast and he is also estranged by his fellow people on the
reservation because he chose to attend a white school. Prior to Junior transferring schools, he is seen
as an Indian at Reardan and seen as too white on the rez. Junior tries to come with a conclusion of
where he stands in both societies. Through the middle of the novel, the feeling of separation and
uncomfortableness grows at his new school and on the reservation, which he deals with in order to
achieve his goal of getting a better education than most Indians and finding his identity. According to
the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. Junior felt lonely after he transferred
schools: After I decided to go to Reardan, I felt like an invisible mountain gorilla scientist (Alexie
156). This quotation implies how desolated and deserted Junior felt and includes a metaphor which
compares how scientist believed mountain gorillas didn t exist and how no one treated Junior like he
didn t exist as well. Fortunately, Junior later discovers that he will never be completely approved by
the white community and that he isn t just part of one tribe, but he is

The Sociology Of A Commercial Airline Pilot Essay
This assignment focuses on analyzing the sociology of a commercial airline pilot s job and the
working environment in this increasingly influential sector. An airline pilot carries great responsibility
and their job comes with a magnitude of risks. It is both a physically and mentally demanding career
choice that requires one to remain calm under pressure whilst operating in a different time zone and
unpredictable weather conditions, as well as having to meet the health requirements such as perfect
vision and coordination (to name a few). Commercial aviation is one of the world s biggest sectors
and so the magnitude of research is immense, however the aim of this research assignment is to focus
on tensions and trends surrounding the occupation of commercial airline pilots; such as gender
inequality and stereotypes, as women continue to face gender barriers due to the industry being
dominated by males since the heyday of the aviation sector (Germain, M., Herzog, M., Hamilton, P.,
2012). Additionally the stresses surrounding the unconventional work environment, as airline
employees tend to work on eight to fifteen hour shifts, however on occasion flight delays may require
them to exceed the length of the shift (Tourigny, Vishwanath Wang, 2010). This unpredictability in
scheduling policies may contribute to an increased level of job as well as family related stress, even
burnouts in some cases, which impacts on the well being of employees. Finally the analysis concludes

Gone With the Wind Essay
Gone with the Wind, was published in May 1936. The author, Atlanta born, Margaret Mitchell won the
Pulitzer Prize in 1937 for her efforts. The novel was the first and only published novel of her career.
Miss Mitchell was a storyteller from the time she could speak. She enjoyed writing stories and plays.
She would cast herself and her friends in the different roles. She lived in Atlanta all of her life and she
was enchanted in the history of the city. Miss Mitchell was influenced by the stories told to her as she
spent her childhood sitting on the laps of Civil War veterans and of her mother s relatives, who told
stories of the American Civil War and the Reconstruction of the South. She was an old soul at heart

Selling over thirty million copies, it is the best selling novel of the twentieth century. In fact, it was so
popular it was translated in roughly forty languages and published in fifty different countries. In the
seventy five years since its publication, the novel has achieved the status of an epic. The only book
that has sold more copies than Gone With the Wind is the Bible. It is a masterpiece of American
literature, and highly suggested to those who enjoy Civil War fiction because of its historical
accurateness. Mitchell once wrote the following about her novel. Despite its length and many details it
is basically just a simple yarn of fairly simple people. There s no fine writing, there s no
philosophizing, there is a minimum of description, there are no grandiose thoughts, there are no
hidden meanings, no symbolism, nothing sensational. The novel is the basis of the exceptionally
admired Academy Award winning 1939 film of the same name. The film rights were acquired to the
novel in July, 1936 for fifty thousand dollars. That was a record amount for a novel from an unknown
author. Once the film was released the novel had surpassed one half million copies sold. Additional
records were set when the movie had its first air date on television in two parts in 1976. It was restored
and released in theaters in

Analysis of Out, Out by Robert Frost Essay
Analysis of Out, Out by Robert Frost
Robert Frost tells a disturbing story in Out, Out, , in which a little boy loses his life. The title of the
poem leaves the reader to substitute the last word of the title, which some would assume would be out
because of the repetition. The title is referring to the boy exiting the living world. Frost drags the
reader s mind into the poem with the imagistic description of the tools and atmosphere the little boy is
surrounded by.
Frost describes the little boy s work in the first two lines by saying the stove length sticks of wood,
inferring the practical nature of his work. The mountains described in the next lines further add to the
captive nature of the poem. Vermont provides a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sister prepares the evening meal, making her contribution to the family; and calls on the boy to
come and eat. The saw in the boy?s hands was still running and when he took his attention away from
his work, and that split second of carelessness cost him an extremity. His instincts raised his arm
upward to keep all the blood from spilling out immediately. When he realized what was happening,
the boy finally realized he was to young to be doing a man?s work. The boy ?saw all spoiled,? and
now knew his whole childhood had vanished and it was impossible to get it back. The boy frantically
called out to his sister to make the doctor keep his hand on. The boy?s body must have instantly gone
into shock and not felt the absence of the hand. When the doctor arrived he gave him some ether to
make him go to sleep. The little boy began to lose his pulse and soon he was a stranger to the world.
The people surrounding the boy never expected the loss of his hand to tragically end the little boy?s
life. Frost?s almost appalling casual description of death shocks the reader enough to make them
think. ?Since they were not the one dead, turned to their affairs,? describes the environment of the
survivors. They are forced to move on with their life and keep working because they cannot afford to
stop and mourn.
The poem ?Out, Out, ? can only be described as an ironic misfortune that could be experienced by
anyone. The realistic subject

The Civil Of Chinese Immigrants On The Transcontinental...
Migrating to America in search of new opportunities, sadly, the Chinese were referred to as Chinks
and coolies. Throughout history, Americans have been in debt to immigrant groups, like the Chinese,
who were the only ones willing to do the most dangerous and underpaid work. Yet, Americans have
been the most hostile towards the Chinese the only racial group ever to face an Exclusion Act. During
the 19th century, 80,000 Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States during the Gold Rush, but
they found no gold only nativists who did not want them there. So, instead of mining, many Chinese
settled for odd jobs and labored on the Transcontinental Railroad, a previously unparalleled project to
connect the American West Coast with the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Charles Crocker, one of the Big Four investors of the railroad, became so desperate for
labor that he convinced Strobridge to try and hire the Chinese: They built the Great Wall. They can do
it (Elish). Finally, in 1863, the Chinese, who were believed to be inferior to whites, were given the
opportunity to work on the Transcontinental Railroad. In the end, hiring the Chinese was a very wise
decision because they were the cheapest and they worked the hardest. Despite many Chinese being
under five feet and only weighing 120 pounds, the Chinese impressed Crocker: They couldn t dig as
much dirt with a single swing, but they worked methodically without talking or taking breaks...by the
end of day one, [the Chinese] had covered as much distance as the all white groups and the job was
done more carefully (Elish). Charles Crocker was recorded as saying that, Wherever we put [the
Chinese], we found them good, as well as, ...they worked themselves into our favor to such an extent
that if we found we were in a hurry for a job of work, it was better to put Chinese on at once
(American Experience: TV s Most Watched History Series). In other words, the Chinese proved
themselves to be the most punctual and willing and diligent group. In American History: The
Transcontinental Railroad, it is explained that the Chinese had the best habits. They always drank hot
tea, which killed off

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( Adhd )
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), according to the textbook, is a lifelong
neurological development disturbance that causes inattention and hyperactivity problems (Wicks
Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 217). Many of those who have ADHD also suffer from one or more type of
learning disability, because their attention issues that inhibit their ability to focus on the materials
being taught at the moment (McNamara, J. [October 19, 2016], Lecture #6, Brock University).
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the fifth edition (DSM 5),
there are three categories for ADHD, the inattentive type, hyperactivity type, and the combined type
(Wicks Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 223 225). In this scenario, there are various aspects of Kate s diagnosis
that could affect the understanding of ADHD for those around her. From a biological perspective, the
composition of a child s chromosomes is arbitrarily taken from both parents which they each
contribute a random fifty percent (McNamara, J. [September 28, 2016], Lecture #4, Brock University;
Wicks Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 41 42). Each gene carries precise information and particular function
through transmission (McNamara, J. [September 28, 2016], Lecture #4, Brock University). Family
members who are intimately related are also more vulnerable to any physical or psychological
disorders due to the greater probability of passing on the gene (Wicks Nelson Israel, 2015, p. 43 44).

  • 2. Reflection On Social Work Ethics Coming into Ethics, I didn t really know what I was going to learn. I always thought ethics what black and white. I soon found out there is more to ethics then I thought. I ve learned a lot in 204 from decision making models to the CSAW. The decisions we make in social work are fundamental part our professional practice and ethical awareness. The commitment and ability to act ethically is a must in the service we offer our services too. The ethical issues we face will inevitably challenge us and make us think critical of our flection of actions. Every day we will be faced with dramatic situations that are very stressful, but we need to keep things professional and ethical at all times. We will end up dealing with touch decisions with clients that have the potential for benefit or harm and we have to judge at the time if it s ethical or not, and we definitely won t always make right discussions. Using the knowledge I ve gained from SOWK 204 it will help me write this paper and help prepare me for the field. I have chosen do scenario number four, along with using Reamer s Model: Social Work Ethics and Shaefor and Horejsi ethical dilemma framework. The ethical theory deontology is our duty and obligation based on ethic s judged by the morality of an action. That being said based on the scenario, it s our duty to stand up for our other student and make sure they are not being dehumanized in any way. In an effort for them to be treated as equal and fairly. We are in the field ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Napoleon Bonaparte Isolation The French Revolution brought about a new era in Europe through Enlightenment ideas. The greatest product of the Revolution was Napoleon Bonaparte. Without the Revolution Napoleon s genius at military tactics and statesmen charisma would be lost. There is only greatness in people if given the opportunity to show that greatness. Napoleon s life is not merely one of conquest and domination, but a series of opportunities gained through the Revolution. Napoleon had great promise in his youth that would have otherwise been subject to a menial military career. His journey from birth to Emperor of France dictates more than megalomania; it is a passion to create an egalitarian Europe free from the rule of Kingdoms. In every station of his life; childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a discourse around France calling for reform and complaints from all castes of French society, but none, not even Napoleon, could anticipate the events about to unfold. The storming of the Bastille in on July 14th, 1789 did not lead Napoleon to cheer for the liberation of France, but more the liberation of his beloved Corsica. As Napoleon put it, not the least craziness about the French Revolution is that those who once put us to death as rebels are today our protectors, are motivated by our sentiments (Englund, 39). The Revolution meant to Napoleon that his dream of a free Corsican Republic was at last possible. However, with the emigration of the nobility out of France left few officers to lead the military and kept Napoleon in France for a time. Napoleon was one of the few that stayed and fought for the Republic. He was sent to Toulon to help repel the British fleet. The fact that Napoleon was ambitious and assertive does not diminish the fact that he believed in the values of the Enlightenment. Napoleon fought for the Republic continuously proving his loyalty to the Republic and the Revolution. Napoleon s victories throughout Italy were to liberate people from the oppression of foreign rule. This being said it is not a mistake that he did not have much faith in the ability of common men to maintain said freedom. A look at Bonaparte s letters indicates that what surprised and ... Which Social Forces Influence My Choice In A Mate When I first read the question Which social forces influence my choice in a mate, the first thing that came to mind was not sex, age, race, or social class. At first I didn t think these were factors in choosing a mate, but after reading about it more, this is actually the main factors people look at when choosing a mate. As I began to think which factors matter to me, I quickly realized that sex, age, race, and social class all matter to me. Also there is another very important factor that matters when choosing a mate and that is religion. My family raised me in a Southern Baptist Church all my life, so religion would be another factor that influenced my choice in a mate. • 7. Reflection On Child Development When i evaluate my school year many things come to mind i think about friends,i think about the highs and lows, i also think about how much i grew. my 7th grade year at cms was full of concepts learned, memorable experiences, and personal growth. Concepts learned. In mrs.sanchez 5th period class we learned about sexual reproduction with grasshoppers. We learned about the genes and what sexual reproduction means. Sexual reproduction means a genetic material from 2 parents combined to make a new organism. And also meiosis sperm an egg during chromosomes the pairs separate. A fun memory i had these days we re working with my group and they would think it was weird everytime they say sexual reproduction.we also learned that chromosomes theory of inheritance genes are carried from parents to their offspring on chromosomes. A question me and my group had was why do they travel in pairs? we never answered it. We also learned about mendel s work. Mendel s work showed that the dominant alleles don t come up as present when another is present. Each human has 23 chromosomes. And grasshoppers have 24 chromosomes which is just 12 pair. Some more questions my group had was do other insects have more chromosomes? And can more than half of a parent s chromosomes go to its offspring? And before we started we had to write down a question and it was what is mendel s work? sutton hypothesize that chromosomes were the key to understanding how offspring have traits similar to those of the ... • 8. Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Study Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social Learning Theory. Unlike the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behavior of the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with others in a social context. Moreover, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to copy and develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learning are being formulated as new trends in distance education programs continue to emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs continues to increase the physical distance between educators and students (Smith Berge, 2009). There are three key components to Bandura s social learning theory (Abbott, n.d.) that are manifesting themselves in the Second Life (a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After observing the behavior of others, people then assimilate and imitate that behavior, especially if their observational experiences are positive ones or include rewards related to the observed behavior. According to Bandura (Smith Berge, 2009), this kind of imitation involves the actual reproduction of observed motor activities. This kind of learning through observing can also be reinforced. Bandura called this as vicarious reinforcement. What he meant is that when the child observes someone else being rewarded for a particular behavior this then affects the child in the same way as it would had that the child produced the same behavior and been rewarded for it. Similarly, vicarious punishment is possible where the child observes a model being punished for a behavior thus the child is less likely to produce the behavior because of this observation. • 9. The Effects Of Gendered Representations On Advertising The Effects of Gendered Representations in Advertising This essay discusses the representations of women in media and advertising, including the effects they have on individuals in society. Firstly, I will review the literature on stereotypical gender roles within media and advertising. This will include traditional roles such as the housewife, and modern roles such as the sex object. Secondly, I will critically evaluate and examine the effects of these roles on women, and even men, in today s society. Effects include body dissatisfaction, thin idealisation and, in extreme cases, violence against women. Thirdly, I will aim to make conclusions on whether gender representations and roles within media have impacts on men and women in society. During the rise of the feminist movement in the late 20th century, a significant body of research emphasised that media and advertising can affect the behaviours, knowledge and beliefs of individuals. The mass media can influence attitudes and opinions, either immediately or gradually, which may shape social norms (Lazarsfeld, 1948, p.249). In particular, researchers have argued that advertising plays a huge role in affecting the attitudes and behaviours of individuals in society (Courtney and Lockeretz, 1971, Kolbe and Langefeld, 1991; Harrison and Hefner, 2006; Stankiewicz and Rosselli, 2008; Ifezue, 2010). Advertising may be referred to as a persuasive and repetitive form of communication (Panarese, 2014, p.100), which occupies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The critical infrastructure includes telecommunication, transportation, energy, banking, finance, water supply, emergency services, government services, agriculture, and other fundamental systems and services that are critical to the security, economic prosperity, and social well being of the public. The critical infrastructure is characterized by interdependencies and complexity. Cyber interdependencies are a result of the pervasive computerization and automation of infrastructures. The critical infrastructure disruptions can, directly and indirectly, affect other infrastructures, impact large geographic regions, and send ripples throughout the national and global economy. For example, under normal operating conditions, the electric power infrastructure requires fuels, transportation, water, banking and finance, telecommunication, and SCADA systems for monitoring and control. There is a growing concern about the security and safety of the SCADA control systems in terms of vulnerabilities, lack of protection, and awareness. Therefore, information security management principles and processes need to be applied to SCADA systems without exception. 3. • 12. My Life During The Summer After I Walked A Mile Essay During the summer after I turned thirteen, I went on a vacation that changed my entire perspective on life. Americans are so spoiled. I remember hearing my mother proclaim this numerous times growing up. I would shake my head or roll my eyes every time, since I never quite understood what it meant. Of course, I had nothing to compare it to. I grew up in the suburbs in a middle class family. I never wanted for anything. I heard the stories of my mother and her siblings growing up; they lived in filth, they occasionally skipped meals, all seven kids slept huddled together on concrete floors. I heard those stories as if she was saying, ...I walked a mile to school, uphill both ways... I never could have imagined the reality of what the stories truly meant until I visited my birthplace, the Philippines, for the first time. I was stubborn preteen, and I couldn t understand why my mother was forcing me to accompany her. I wasn t familiar with my family in the Philippines and I didn t speak the language. I tried everything I could to get out of it, nevertheless, my mother insisted it would be a memorable experience. It was a long, twenty one hour flight across the Pacific Ocean. My uncle, whom I hadn t remembered ever meeting, picked us up in the terminal. My mother whispered and reminded me to be polite, to honor my elders by remembering to bless them. Embarrassed, and with a slight roll of my eyes, I obediently bowed my head and placed the top of his hand to my forehead. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Resistance By Bachrach Debor The Resistance Resistance is seen in many parts of daily life. For example, take a baby that will not eat its food and hits the food away when the food is brought to close to the babies mouth. Or a dog that refuses to go on a walk after a person has put on the dog s leash. One of the most important aspects of resistance is refusing. This is because it shows what a person believes in and what a person will do to achieve their beliefs. In genocide, few people resist the group in power because most victims are too afraid to show what they believe in because of the repercussions. Those who do resist the group in power strongly believe that what the group in power is doing is wrong. People who resist genocide make a difference in the outcome of the genocide by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the book The Faces of Resistance, author Stuart Kallen gives examples of people who resisted the Holocaust. He does so by going into depth of their situations and in what ways they resisted the Nazis. One of the examples was a man named Raoul Wallenberg who saved 100,000 lives at the cost of his own life. Wallenberg gave Jews passports bearing the Swedish seal. Wallenberg set up hospitals, nurseries, and soup kitchens. When Nazis began death marches Wallenberg issued thousands of Swedish safe passes. He followed groups of Nazis that were carrying Jews. Wallenberg also protested for the release of Jews from German and Hungarian custody. Wallenberg began offering bribes and he stood between Jews and their captors saying that they should take him instead. He also forged papers and driver s licenses (Kallen). As seen here, Raoull Wallenberg took every possible step to ensure he could save as many Jews as possible from captivity. In any genocide, if more people are brave enough to risk their own lives to save the victims of the genocide, then there would not be nearly as many casualties. In conclusion, if more people were willing to risk their lives for victims of the genocide then there would not be nearly as many deaths in the outcome of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We thought our family holiday was going great there hadn t been any of the arguments that cause my mother to say that it pack everything we are going back home, i have had enough . Even if she had said that i would highly doubt that she would get the car all packed to drive ten hour back down the road. Today is the last full day of our trip so we decided to visit friends of my mum and dad s, they lived around an hour away from the holiday park so we got all ready to set of on our little trip. Finally manage to get all ready and we all climb into our car. So we set of driving along the little road out of the holiday park that led onto the main road. Driving along happily looking out the window at all the brightly green grassed fields and watching the cars passing. We were just about at our destination, we turn up this turn off and drove underneath a huge bridge. The road was so curvy and i could feel my stomach being shaken around like a mixing blender, finally we got of that road. I noticed a sign that said welcome to portsmouth My dad s face look amazed and filled with joy that we have managed to get there without any problem, well he spoke to soon. • 15. 1960 s Sexual Revolution The sexual revolution of the 1960 s was a time of great importance to modern America. The changes that occurred across America changed our country as a whole, its influence spread from LA to New York to the Heartland of America , Lawrence Kansas. This revolution occurred at a critical point in world history as well. A new type of society formed with soldiers returning from WWII and people began to incorporate themselves with those who matched their identity and not just those geographically near them. The times of other swimmers and their form compared to mine is not important because what matters to me is that I challenge myself and improve. Because of this, I set a goal for myself, and then take baby steps to reach that goal. An example of this is when I was training to become a certified scuba diver. At first, I was not the best at swimming because I never really learned how to do it properly. I took baby steps to achieving my goal of certification, and it started with learning proper form for the flutter kick. I worked with my instructor and had it done within a day. Then, I moved on to doing the flutter kick with flippers. I did that, and then moved on to doing that with the scuba gear on. This took about two days to get down, but I was able to get certified after I had finished that. • 23. The Government Of The People Democracy is, and will always be, as one of America s past presidents Abraham Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The exact definition for democracy is a system of government by the whole population of a state, typically through elected members. The original idea of democracy that America s Founding Fathers promoted has shifted throughout the years. America was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty and many of these freedoms and liberties are being stripped away, or are at risk of being stripped away, by the American government. America is no longer a democracy, but it is an oligarchy. America is considered an oligarchy because of one reason, and that reason is that power lies in the hand of the elite wealthy. The majority of the population in America belongs to the middle class. The preferences of most American citizens have little impact on government. Instead, the responsiveness of government is strongly tilted towards the most affluent citizens . Those who reap the benefits are the ones creating policies. As U.S. supreme court justice, Louis Brandeis, stated, America can have democracy or it can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but it cannot have both. Oligarchy and democracy cannot coexist. It is true to say that since the founding of America, freedoms and rights of all who have inhabited this land have greatly increased. This dependent resource provides a more efficient transportation route as well as access to marine resources such as fishing. Fish also became a source of protein diet and economic trade values in both Chinese and Japanese cultures. In this essay, I will be using the Pseudosciaena crocea also known as the Yellow croaker as my example.1 Yellow croaker got their name from the noises that they make during the spawning season.2 I will also be addressing the problem of overfishing and environmental consequences that arise. By analyzing the patterns of ecological transformations within fishing disputes between China and Japan, we can see how marine resource exploitation becomes a motivation to strengthen each perspective s nation state. Dating back to the Jomon, their diets included a board range of plant, animal, and marine foods.3 The remains of the salmon bones show that this fish was exploited from as early as the Incipient phase. Fast forward to the Yayoi period, rice, without a doubt, was the most important crop, but barley, millet, and other cultivated and wild plants were also consumed in large quantities.4 Others such as domesticated pigs and chicken are known from Yayoi contexts but were still unclear whether or not it was used a food resource. However, it s still too soon to tell whether this prediction will turn out to be true. Salesforce faces significant challenges as it continues to grow and refine its business. The first challenge comes from increased competition, both from traditional industry leaders and new challengers hoping to replicate Salesforce s success. Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle have rolled out subscription based versions of their CRM products in response to Salesforce. Smaller competitors like NetSuite also have made some inroads against Salesforce s market share. Analysts predict that Microsoft has a chance to compete with Salesforce by developing merely an acceptable on demand CRM product, because of the average customer s already established familiarity with Microsoft applications. Also, Microsoft plans to offer their product at half the price of Salesforce.com, using a tactic they have employed with great effect in other marketplaces to pressure their competitors. Salesforce.com still has plenty of catching up to do to reach the size and market share of their larger competitors. As of 2007, SAP s CRM market share was 25.7 percent, compared to only 7 percent for Salesforce.com. IBM s customer base includes 9,000 software companies that run their applications on their software and that are likelier to choose a solution offered by IBM over Salesforce.com. • 37. A Constitutional Amendment For Women Essay Into parliament. In Bangladesh there had been a provision, which expired in 2000, to reserve 10% of seats for women in parliament. This expiry resulted in a dramatic decrease in the number of female legislators. A constitutional amendment in 2001 extended women‟s reserved seats from 30 to 45 for a period of 10 years. Prior to this, the reserved seats of 30 enacted in 1978 were about the only route for women into parliament. In 1996, 11 or 3.6% of the seats in the first post the post system was won by women. In 2001 this dropped to 6 or only 2% of the seats in parliament. In 2005, a law increased the overall number of seats in parliament, and 45 of these were reserved for women. These were allocated to political parties on the share of the national vote received in the elections, and the number of women increased to 13% of the seats in the 2005 elections, and in 2008 this increased to 18.6%. In Bangladesh, 19 women won out of the 300 constituency seats, to join 45 appointed women members. The number of women holding ministerial portfolios has never exceeded 3%. As of 2009, nearly 80% of parliamentary standing committees have no women. With the addition of the 45 reserved seats in November 2009, women are now 14.8% of the total positions. Begum has commented: The mode of nomination for reserving seats lies exclusively with political parties. Since this was no longer unusal, I was not really alarmed (Farmaian 313.) This shows that even a day to day civilian did not care for seeing weapons on the street being used as commonly as seeing day to day occurrences like going to the store or going to work. The Islamic Revolution also did step backward towards the Iranian people by how after Ayatollah Khomeini was elected into power, the riots against him started after they stopped agreeing with him. Sati states, On December 2, 1978, Moharram arrived and during its ten days the violence increased again. Ayatollah Khomeini exhorted everyone to unite and sacrifice themselves in blood like Iman Hossein, until the soldiers threw away their arms to join the people s cause. Other than the table of results the graph is also evidence to my true hypothesis. Each time the concentration of hydrogen peroxide doubles the level of foam increases but the more the concentration the foam reaches its constant point therefore slowly increasing. An example is when the 2% concentration of hydrogen peroxide was added the foam level was 13cm³ but when 4% was added to the next trial the level of foam greatly increased to 21 cm³ and as it reached its constant point, when 6% it slowed down and increased only 3 cm³ more which became 24 cm³.

However philosophical disputes soon arose, this was known as the battle of Universals. One position was called the Realist position. This was the idea that body and soul were separate. The soul goes to its ideal realisation, heaven, there is no need to worry about the material world. The opposing argument was known as the Nominalalist position, that physical were the only reality (Robert E. Lamm 212). The middle ground between these two arguments was known as Conceptualism, put forth by Peter Abelard, it suggests that reality as idea exists only in the sense apparent object (Robert E. Lamm 213). Monasticism was a way of life for those who thought everyday life too sinful, and decided to devote themselves to God, either communally in the monastery or lavriote, a life of solitude. St Benedict around five hundred and forty AD set down rules which were to become the basis for monastic life in the Catholic church; poverty, obedience, chastity, and work. In these monasteries theology was preserved. A different form of monasticism developed in Ireland due to the fact it was isolated from the rest of Europe. Monks were more like the hermits of Egypt rather those of Roman Christianity. Scholarship developed in these monasteries, also a new form of art called Hiberno Saxon. In Act 2, scene 5 after returning from her first mission to Romeo, Juliet s Nurse tells her impatient mistress, I am the drudge, and toil in your delight . At this point, we are inclined to take the Nurse at her word. When we first encounter her in Act I, scene 3, the Nurse of Romeo and Juliet appears to be a comic character given to bawdy humor and innuendo, but this coarse character is softened by her fondness for Juliet. In Friar Lawrence s case I think when he agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet It is a desperate attempt to fuse together two opposites to end the skirmish between the two families. County Paris is juxtaposed with Romeo throughout the play, and by doing so; Shakespeare highlights the extraordinary nature of Romeo s love for Juliet. Paris is completely ignorant of the romance between Romeo and Juliet, and so while his own suit for Juliet threatens the lovers plans, he is not a blocking character. Moreover, in the tomb scene, Paris acquits himself well, displaying a depth of affection for Juliet and earning Romeo s praise. Juliet on the other and has absolutely no interest in Paris, this is another illustration of unrequited love.
