The Walt Disney Corporation
The Walt Disney Corporation was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Brothers Cartoon
Studio by brothers Walt and Roy Disney. The company brandished its current name in 1986 after
the death of Walt Disney (1). This company like other large conglomerates has a vice grip on the
flow of information that reaches consumers like you and me. Some people believe that having
these corporations constricting our access to information leads to a generation of uninformed
people, but in the day and age when anybody can get onto to google and search with specific
enough criteria to find articles proving any stand point... they were going to be uninformed any
way. For example, there are people out there who believe vaccines cause autism, there are plenty...

For example, The Walt DisneyCorporation owns more channels than just the ones that share its
namesake. These companies include: ABC broadcast network, Disney Channel, Freeform
publishing, The History Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Marvel Studios, Pixar Studios, AND a
32% holding of Hulu, an 80% holding of ESPN Inc., and 50% holding of A E. If you didn t know
the name by now, then it should be painfully obvious at this point. The scarier thing is that each
of the networks listed has even more subsidiaries that add to the reach of Disney. One example is
ESPN Inc., it owns ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN on ABC, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, ESPN
Films, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Now, SEC Network, and ESPN The Magazine... just to name
a few (6).
Disney is known for that Iconic shape of one specific cartoon mouse, the symbol it s self has
changed as the years go on but Mickey Mouse s head/ silhouette is always an easily recognizable
logo for a company that everyone knows. The logo was originally adopted in 1991, 63 years
after the original Steamboat Willie was produced (1). This was one of the many firsts for Disney
allowing them to maintain their status of a multimedia powerhouse of the US. The very first
completely animated feature length film was produced by Disney in 1937, you may have heard of
it, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. No one has ever even attempted anything like this

Compare And Contrast Thyroid And Hypothyroidism
There are many different types of thyroid diseases. The two I would like to discuss are
hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. These two thyroid diseases have a few similarities and many
differences.
Hyperthyroidism is known as an overactive thyroid which occurs when the thyroid gland
overproduces thyroid hormones causing the body s natural functions to accelerate (University
Michigan, N.D.). On the contrary, hypothyroidism is known as an underactive thyroid which
occurs when the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone which leads to the body s
natural functions slowing down. Hypothyroidism is more common, affecting five to twenty percent
of people in the United States. Meanwhile, only one percent of people in the United States ... Show

The symptoms of hypothyroidism include weight gain, coarse, dry hair, hair loss, cold intolerance,
constipation, irritability, memory loss, abnormal menstrual cycle, and decreased libido (University
Michigan, N.D.). The symptoms of hyperthyroidism include hand tremors, mood swings,
nervousness, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, skin dryness, trouble sleeping, and weight
loss. Fatigue and muscle weakness are some symptoms of both hyperthyroidism and
hypothyroidism.
The process for diagnosing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism is exactly the same which includes
laboratory test, thyroid scan, and radioactive iodine uptake test. The laboratory test for diagnosing
both are thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test and thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI)
test (University Michigan, N.D.).
Treatment for both diseases is remarkably different. Hyperthyroidism treatment consists of
radioactive iodine, antithyroid medication and sometimes a beta blocker to alleviate symptoms
(Milas, 2014). There are two antithyroid medications available in the United States methimazole,
also known as Tapazole, and propylthiouracil. Tapazole and propylthiouracil both stop the thyroid
from producing T3 and T4 hormones. The most common treatment for hyperthyroidism is
radioactive

Religion In The Sassanid Empire
Introduction Religion played an important role in Sassanid Empire, although the relationship
between Sasanian kings and religious practice was complex and inconsistent. It is not easy to
uncover the actual role of religion in the political culture in the Sassanid Empire. For instance, it is
unclear whether it was theology that drove political culture or politics influenced development of
theology in order to suit in the interests of rulers. In the light of evidence available in modern times,
this paper seeks to investigate the nature of the role of Zoroastrianism and the Zoroastrian
priesthood in Sasanian political culture.

Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life
Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life
Head (Brain) injury is known as a major public health problem that is a frequent cause of death and
disability in young people, Among the many challenges that survivors of traumatic brain injury
must face, behavior problems rank among the most difficult. Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, is a
type of brain injury that occurs when trauma causes damage to the brain. It can cause when a
person s head suddenly or violently hits an object, or an object hits the person, and damages the
brain tissue. A person with a TBI may remain conscious or he/she might be unconscious for a few
minutes. Some symptoms of TBI include headache, confusion, lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred
vision or tired eyes, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, fatigue or lethargy, a change in sleep
patterns, behavioral or mood changes, and trouble with memory, concentration, attention, or
thinking. These symptoms might be experienced by any person with mild, moderate to severe TBI
(Real Warriors).
According to me, any type of TBI can become a big problem in the future, then it doesn t matter
if it s mild or a severe injury. It might also be such a big problem nowadays because of many
reasons, one of which can be cultural beliefs. The amount of people suffering from TBI is
increasing dramatically because of the careless decisions made by the people.
Severity of Traumatic brain injuries can be classified into mild, moderate, and severe categories.

The Worst Hard Time Summary
Timothy Egan writes the book The Worst Hard Time. In the book, it has a build up to how the
Dust Bowl occurred, and it explains the effects of the Dust Bowl through families that were in the
plains. Then to the end of the book, things are starting to turn around when Franklin D. Roosevelt
visits the Great Plains. Timothy Egan s thesis is that from the beginning, the whole United States
starts to tip the balance of the Great Plains, which led to the Dust Bowl, and the people hitting rock
bottom; however, two opposite ideas come together with faith that the Great Plains can be
rebalance. Egan writes in an inspiring tone that gives a feeling of understanding how the people
felt in the worst time, and he stays on topic of his main point but is slightly bias. In the beginning
of the book, Timothy Egan effectively show that the removal of Indians and the XIT ranch was
the start line to the Dust Bowl. Egan writes about how the United States drives both the Indians
and the cowboys out of the Midwest for the farmers, which Egan signals that this is the spark that
started the worst hard time. Egan explains this by writing, This grass was never meant to be
plowed, James told his fellow cowboys. By writing this, Egan shows that the cowboys know that
the farmers should not have used the land for crops, because they know that the rain will not always
be there. Throughout the first chapters, Egan continues to give scenarios that tip the balances like
the effect of the clearing of the

The Decade Of The 1950 s
Immediately following the second World War, America entered the decade of the 1950 s which
would be a time of major social and cultural change. The economy in the 1950 s was thriving, and
a decrease in poverty percentages arose which benefitted those of the generation (Brinkley).
However, during this time period America underwent a nationwide revolution as a result of the
Cold War(Kennedy 877). Critical areas of American life such as space travel, arms development
and the acquisition of foreign alliances such as North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) were
formed, all to oppose the communist political ideology (Kennedy 877). This decade also became a
turning point in the widespread development of music, with the introduction of rock and... Show

The Beat Generation was founded in the early 1940 s but was mainly developed throughout the
50 s. Some of its major influences were Jack Kerouac, known as the generations founder,
Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Allen Ginsberg, each with their own social impact in society (Rahn).
The majority of those within the movement were from the middle class but educated in public
policies as well (Rahn). The major points that were argued by this generation were that
Capitalism was really a policy that hurt Americans more than it helped them and it would come
to question the materialism of the 50 s society. In a book known as Howl published by Allen
Ginsberg within the time period would come to challenge the view of pornography (Rahn). A
trial was conducted and it was found that fictional writings were not to be impacted by censorship
(Rahn). Not all members of society enforced the outbreak of this ideology. Recorded in 1958,
Reverend Bernard P. Donachie was quoted in The New York Times as saying the Beat Generation
had flourished because they are simply the product of twisted confusion ( PRIEST BELITTLES... ).
This quote shows that traditionalists were still fighting the upcoming open minded generation to
preserve their own cultural values. The Beat Generation, in a crucial period in history would greatly
impact the minds of people. At the same

Environmental Policies Of China And Brazil
China and Brazil have developed historically together but why does Brazil have more effective
environmental agencies than the China? Both nations are different politically and cultural, however
through their developments as nations their environmental policies are having different degrees of
success. These countries are partly free, but Brazil has informal institutions including the Catholic
Church that affects the political climate and has helped environmental agencies. China and Brazil
have historically had similar environmental policyspecifically in UN talks. These countries have had
their own struggles with their environmental policy trying to have a balance of economic growth
and being a sustainable country. It is important examine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a communist state becoming more international acknowledged as a state China had to make
major changes as a government and it had to come externally. China began to manifest an
awareness of environmental problems in the early 1970 s (Ross, 810). This was because China
had gained a seat in the UN and was working with the U.S during this time. Right before the 1972
Stockholm conference China had created a domestic agency that worked with environmental
issues so that they had a voice in the conference. This conference came to the existence of SEPA
which had policies with emission permits that was modeled by economically advanced countries
such as the U.S (Ross, 812). SEPA was a cost to the state and could restrain a growing economy
which was not in China s best interest. Right before the 1992 United Nations Conference on
Environment and Development China and 41 other developing countries made a declaration. This
declaration acknowledged the need for international co operation to promote environmental
protection and sustainable development while demanding financial assistance (Ross, 814). This
was also mentioned by the top leaders of China that economic development would reject in any
interference with domestic politics for environmental policy (Ross, 814). China eventually reached
a deal with a 9 year plan which shows that China is not against environmental

Cuba Is A Unique Nation In Which It’S Culture Has Been
Cuba is a unique nation in which it s culture has been defined as a result of incorporating different
customs from various nations over time. Beginning in the 1500s, the Spanish would be the first
migrants to inhabit the island. Not only did the Spanish bring their customs along with them, but
fifteen years after their arrival they also brought African slaves onto the island. Even through the
hardships of slavery and oppression, the African s maintained practices and preserved aspects of
their culture that were eventually incorporated into Cuban culture as a whole. The young nation
also saw various nations and ethnicities, such as Haitians and Americans as time progressed. Like
their migrant predecessors, these individuals would also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the remainder of Indians that were still alive in hiding or under Spanish rule as slaves, the
Spaniards were able to freely impose their culture, eradicating that of the Indians.
After the Indian slave population diminished, the Spanish brought in African slaves to fill the
gaps in the work force. However, like their oppressed predecessors, the slaves eventually rebelled
too. With slavery falling out of fashion across the globe in the late 1800s, Carlos Cespedes, a sugar
planter in Cuba followed suit and freed his slaves in 1868 to help start and fight in a rebellion
against the Spanish crown (Class Notes, 2/21/17). The interesting concept explored in this rebellion
concerns the notion of African slaves and local Cuban s working together. Two parties with
different ethnic backgrounds came together to fight the dictatorial rulers of the country. Through
this union and expression of transculturation as both backgrounds believed in the ideology of equal
rights, the conflict eventually grew in size and became known as the Ten Year s War. Although the
Spanish regained control after the war s end, it signalled a shift in ideology on the island away from
the Spanish crown, and eventually lead to the abolition of slavery and ultimately independence
from Spain. Ethnic Conflict and Tension
The early Christian Church in Spanish controlled Cuba was one of the first groups to call for the
abolition of slavery; however, they approached the concept prior to Cespedes and from a

Prenatal Screening And Prenatal Development
Throughout all of mankind s history all living beings have shared a common trait since their
conception, prenatal development. Prenatal development can easily be categorized as a
fascinating period of great anatomical and physiological progress. Yet, as time progresses and the
wonders of medical technology advance at a limitless pace, such a time has recently been viewed
as a period of constant and profound examinations for unborn infants. The term, prenatal
examinations, can be divided into the three categories of prenatal screenings, genetic screenings,
and diagnostic screenings. Prenatal screenings are primarily involved with the detections of the
possible abnormalities and conditions that may be displayed by the infants. However, it has been
vastly emphasized to be a non definitive diagnosis for most pregnancies. The normal and
recommended blood tests as well as ultrasounds throughout pregnancies classify as a realm of
prenatal screenings. Genetic screenings, considered by many to be a complex version of prenatal
screenings, examine the alterations of the chromosomes, genes, and proteins of the fetus. Currently,
genetic screenings are sub divided into three main categories, molecular genetic screenings,
chromosomal genetic screenings, and biochemical genetic screenings. Molecular screenings
examine the genes of a fetus in an attempt to recognize any mutations in the DNA of the fetus and
to detect the likelihood of the development of a genetic disorder. Chromosomal

Analysis Of You Are What You Eat By Mark Menjivar
The fridge is a personal and private space that can reveal a glimpse of one s lifestyle. A person s
eating habits can show what kind of person they are and why it maybe they are eating this way.
That is what Mark Menjivar aimed to prove as he took photographs of what he saw in different
people s fridges and collected them for his series You Are What You Eat . Menjivar traveled to 20
communities throughout the nation, and took pictures inside what was in a total 60 people s
fridges. He was trying to explore the tie between eating habits and identity. At first I wasn t quite
sure how a photograph could tell about one s character, due to the fact that a picture can say many
things and can be quite ambiguous. That was until I further analyzed... Show more content on

My favorite one is the photograph of the bartender s fridge. His fridge alone allowed me to
envision so many different circumstances. His fridge carried so much character. In both
photographs the fridge is completely cluttered and unorganized. The fridge from 2008, was filled
with boxes of take out. There isn t any evidence of him cooking anything for himself. This
allowed me to come to the conclusion that it s due to him being a male bachelor, who probably
doesn t know how to cook. There s also the possibility that it s due to him not having enough time
to cook for himself. Most of that food in the Styrofoam boxes are probably bar food that he took
home, because it was convenient for him. In the article, Menjivar mentioned how taking the
photograph was so unbearable due to the stench coming from the fridge. It s pretty clear the
fridge would smell, without him stating it. The fridge looked absolutely atrocious. The second
photograph in 2012, was still a cluttered mess, but there were no take out Styrofoam boxes. The

19 Minutes, By Jodi Picoult
19 minutes is a book written by Jodi Picoult that describes a school shooting. This book was
written in a pretty unique way, because instead of having story told by sequential events from one
perspective, it is told from many perspectives, from different times, and in different orders. For
example, one moment you could be reading from the point of view of the shooter during the event,
and the next you re reading from the point of view of a student 6 months after. The author uses
different points of view and a non linear timeline to tell a unique story. Jodi Picoultuses different
points in time for each chapter, but it isn t a random order. Whenever there is a change in time, it
is because it logically follows what you just read. What ends... Show more content on

During the book, you get to see through the eyes of the shooter, the judge, the judge s daughter,
the shooter s parents, the shooter s lawyer, and the main detective on the case. I might even be
missing a few, but these viewpoints were the most used. This ties in well with my previous point
where I said the author used different points in time. Not only do you get to see different views,
but also you get to see each viewpoint at many different times. One chapter you could be reading
about what the judge was doing before her daughter was born, and the next chapter you could be
reading about what the lawyer and his family is going through near the end of the case. There
are a few characters and moments that I think showcase how well these viewpoints were done in
this book. One of them is the different viewpoints during the shooting. While the first time the
shooting is described we only see from the detective, later on we get to witness it again from
other s eyes. This line is from Patrick s view, Turning a corner, Patrick slipped on blood and
heard another gunshot, this one loud enough to ring her ears. (Picoult, 22) and this line is from
Josie s view, As the gun fires, it ripper two stripes of her skin from the base of her thumb. Her
hands jerked upwards. (Picoult, 440). These two lines are talking about the same gun shot, but
Patrick s line is from the beginning of the book, and Josie s line is from the very end. Another
part of the book that I think benefited well from different viewpoints is the relationship between
Josie and her mother, Alex. The two don t have a very deep relationship in the beginning, which
is shown by Josie many times, The last place Josie wanted to go was out to dinner with her
mother. (Picoult, 150). Josie usually tries to avoid her mother and thinks she doesn t understand
her. From Alex s view, she feels like she hasn t been a very good mother to Josie and often is

The Power of Social Engineers in The Art Of Deception by...
The Art of Deception is an in depth look at the vulnerability that the common man has to the
social engineer. Mitnick s perspective comes from a social angle instead of a technological one,
seeing as he is known as the greatest hacker all over media and most of his methods weren t
technologically inclined but socially. A quick look into Mitnick s background, he was an only
child who had a knack for understanding the Nitti Gritty of technology. As a child, he managed
to hack the bus system in Los Angeles and travel for free, exploited telephone networks as a teen
and in college, infiltrated their network and was later hired because it was either that or
expulsion. These are just a few of his many hacking exhibitions. He has served jail time because he
realised what he did was wrong and is now helping companies avoid similar exploitations through
his securitycompany, public talks and through his books.
In this day and age, where information is the new currency on the block, criminals are on the rise
to acquire this information. The book highlights the different techniques and attacks of the social
engineer and how easily we are persuaded into thinking that technology has secured us from these
attacks. He shows these through a variety of stories that have actually happened as indications of
our negligence to these attacks, but as well points out ways that we can protect ourselves from
these attacks and become less victimized by the social engineer. He gets us to look through

Comparison Of Heaven And Lotte s Death
Edge of Heaven is a two scene film that connects as one, Yeter s Death and Lotte s Death. Both
scenes focus on six main characters. In this film, it is difficult to pinpoint a specific protagonist but
there are multiple protagonists. The characters in this film pass along the same crossroads and from
one path to another it has an influence on the individual. The scenes are connected by loss of
family and dysfunctional families, father and son and mother and daughter.
Furthermore, we see in the film that father and son, mother and daughter, are not necessarily next of
kin. For example of mother and daughter, Ayten becomes Susanne s daughter and Susanne begins
to love her as she loved her own daughter, on the other hand Ayten has previously lost her mother so
Susanne substitutes. Too in the film the return to the birthplace is seen, the first time, Yeter s
corpse is brought back from Germany, and later,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three interlocking stories take place in the same city yet the characters do not share the
same social class. Moreover, the stories become intertwined by the accident, violence, and
betrayal. How the boys fight the dogs mirrors violence, the dog fights begin to dehumanize the
humans and they become just as violence as the dogs, the violence in Ramiro and his wife s
relationship, and as well as Valeria and Daniel s verbally violent relationship. Then there is gun
violence with El Chivo, he is a hitman, and he gives the gun to the two partners. Octavio betray
his brother by trying to get his wife, Daniel betray his marriage, the two partners betray each other
and El Chivo betrays his daughter as a child. The scenes are connected through the violence and
betrayal because all the characters suffer from these elements, then the scenes become one by the
accident scene. The ending result for, if not all, then most of the characters ends,

The Social Network Essay
The Dramatic Interpretation of the Social Network Myth After watching the movie The Social
Network, the first thing I did was to search for Mark Zuckerberg s real life experiences to see
which parts are facts and which are fictions. As a matter of fact, this Harvard genius that founded
the world s first social networkwas not as childish as the movie portrayed. At least he didn t write
programming for getting into elite Harvard Final Clubs or for retaliating his girlfriend. During
Mark s high school, Microsoft and AOL tried to purchase the music player that he built and also
invited him to join them. However, Mark decided to enroll in Harvard for further education. From

Like, every single shirt and fleece that I had in that movie is actually a shirt or fleece that I own.
Someone might build something because they like building things, Zuckerberg explains.
Normally, Mark should be the person who cares about the movie most and might be pissed off
because the movie portrayed him in an unflattering light. But it seems that he respects the ideas
and decisions of the filmmakers, more or less, in terms of artistic creation. It was because he
wanted to see how filmmakers would interpret his unimaginable story. This kind of art stresses
the maze beyond art and the real world, which can only be seen through by smart people who
also show respect to the artwork. The movie s final image Zuckerberg friending the woman who
dumped him and endlessly refreshing the page to see if she accepts is presented as pathetic irony.
But you could also read it as a sign of hope. In the Facebook world, which is now ours, a new
communication infrastructure exists, with no avenues definitively closed. (Edelstein) The real
Zuckerberg had a vision that Facebook would help create communities in an ever insular world.
And now we have seen the evolution. The world is changing so fast that we all get confused and
disoriented without knowing what to do next. We like the Facebook: fast, simple, up to date...While

Peace Like A River Quotes
You ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself. This quote is from the
Wizard Of Oz. It talks about courage to people who don t think they can do these things. This
quote is very important if someone doesn t think they can do something but needs to or wants
to. I read the book Peace Like A River by Leif Enger. This quote ties to the book because It is
about a family who has a son who kills two people who were stalking their home. The son then
goes off to jail, and breaks out. The rest of the family goes off on a long road trip to try to find
their son, Davy. This part reminds me of the Wizard of Oz because Dorthy goes on a long trip
on the yellow brick road to find the Wizard. In the end, things don t turn out as planned but some
things get better. In this book, many people display courage. But, Davy has the most courage. He
had courage when he: killed the two boys, escaped jail, and was on his own for his whole life....

of what they were trading. If the trade was better than the goods were made better. The age that

Whether Florida should become a year round schooling state is a new issue. Year round school

Being satisfied with one s life can be effortless, but for my father that is not the case. For my
father to be happy with his life, he would have to see his children succeed in goals that they have
set for their future and to not work as hard as him for a living. He would want to change his
career that would give further financial security, while having extra time to stay with family
provided that he could. According to my father, there are no clear or burdensome parts of being
a parent, however being a parent entrusts a person to be accountable for providing the basic
needs for their children. For instance, education, correct behavior, and principles. Sacrifices are
typically seen with families, but not by Mr. Trihemasava. Mr. Trihemasava stated that he did not
relinquish anything, because he gives his family his love and time as much as he can. Being a
parent is always difficult, but there are no guidelines to being a good or bad parent. In my father
s opinion, teaching or telling the children what is good for their life, what they are supposed to
do, and how to prepare for their future, such as working hard at school, is what I would consider
a good parent (Trihemasava). My father repeatedly says when you are tired, you go to sleep, when
you wake up you feel refreshed, when you are hungry, you go to sleep and wake up still hungry

Human Mortality In Anne Rice s Interview With The Vampire
In the novel Interview with the Vampire, Anne Rice seems to portray Lestat as a stereotypical
vampire, but what most readers do not see is that Lestat is more attached to his human mortality
than he appears. Anne Rice shows us this when Louis describes Lestat s view on life as a
vampire. Instead of having a reverence for mortality like Louis does, Lestat has revenge against
life itself (Rice 46). His vendetta against life seems to show the reader how genuinely detached
Lestat is from his own human mortality, making him appear more like the stereotypical vampire. He
was consumed with hatred...envy, [and] nothing pleased him unless he hurt others (Rice 46). This

hatred are very passionate human emotions one can have; though emotions like this are not as
positive as Louis view on life, it is still a very strong feeling about mortality. He has this strong,
negative emotional connection to mortality because his was taken away, and he cannot get it
back. The reason nothing pleased him unless he could take it from others [and] once having it, he

cannot retain it. This want and need for his mortality back causes him to grow cold and dissatisfied

Flat Roof Conversion
Flat Roof Conversion Many first time home owners and those on a limited budget choose to
construct their new home with a flat roofing system, because of the low materials cost, installation
price, and ease of DIY roof repair and maintenance. However, flat roofing systems are more
susceptible to water damage, punctures, and other damage that makes regular roof repair an
unfortunate reality. Until the last decade or so, which has seen the introduction of incredibly strong
and durable synthetic materials such as EPMD and PVC onto the market, most flat roofs were
constructed using tar, gravel, and sheet metal, which while effective, have problems with durability
and whose look is simply not associated with traditional residential buildings.... Show more content

This is important to keep in mind if you plan on selling your home within the next few years, as
this may not be the best investment if that is the case. However, if you are planning on staying
in your home for a decade or more and are set on converting to a pitched roof, the impact on your
home s value may not be as important of a consideration. Weak Support System One of the
benefits, and potential weaknesses, of a flat roof is the fact that it requires a much less robust
support structure to keep the roof in place. However, many roofing contractors will then create a
less than ideal roofing structure which can degrade quickly and become a threat to the integrity
of your home. If you regularly hear creaking or movement in your home s flat roof structure, you
may be in need of a costly roof repair project. If this is the case, it may make sense for you to go
ahead and install a pitched roof at that time.

Anything that can be explained by science is treated as a known truth. There is a bias within the
scientific community based on the assumption that the public is uninformed, and scientist are

the scientific community attempts to re interpret phenomena previously explained by folklore and

goal of interpreting the supernatural through a scientific lens is reflected in popular culture. I

Impaired Cognitive Performance Occurs Within Children With...
Background: Impaired cognitive performance occurs in children with multiple sclerosis (MS). In
adults, cognitive impairment (CI) is seen at the time of first attack suggesting a prodrome of
disease progression prior to first onset of physical disability. Children who develop multiple
sclerosis also have CI at time of diagnosis suggesting that actual disease onset occurs prior to
manifestation of physical symptoms. It has not been reported whether children who go on to
develop a clinical diagnosis of multiple sclerosisare delayed in acquiring early developmental
milestones.
Objective: To determine whether children with early onset MS are delayed in attaining early
developmental milestones and whether children with MS diagnosis prior to the age of 11 years
are more likely to need special education services.
Methods: Pediatric onset MS and cases and controls less than 18 years of age from 14 pediatric
MS centers in the United States were studied. A questionnaire on environmental and genetic
influences was completed by family members, capturing information on demographic and
developmental history. Data on time of first walking unaided and acquisition of two word phrases
were captured on MS and control groups. The need for special education services was captured in
MS subjects only.
Results: A total of 467 cases and 428 controls were enrolled. Patients with early onset MS prior to
age 18 were not delayed in walking or using two word phrases compared to healthy controls.

Angiotensin Research Paper
Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors also known as ACE inhibitors that are commonly
used to decrease blood pressure. ACE inhibitors block the production of angiotensin I to
angiotensin II which then decrease the levels of angiotensin II and elevated levels of
bradykinin. ACE drugs are also used to treat heart failure, diabetic nephropathy, and MI. The
blockage of angiotensin I to angiotensin II can produce vasodilation, decrease blood volume,
decrease cardiac and vascular remodeling, potassium retention and fetal injury which are all
possible side effects for ACE. A big thing to note about ACE it that it should not be given to
women who are of childbearing age due to the risk for fetal injury, especially if they are in their
second or third trimester of pregnancy. Since ACE inhibitors can increase bradykinin levels they

common theme replaying across the histories of various dangerous sex offenders is family

families living together, or near one another, there tends to be large geographical distances in
between them. In addition, people tend to not know or have any involvement with their neighbors

Indeed, during the Roaring 20s many people s quality of lives improved tremendously. Much of
the wealth that was acquired was through purchasing stock in companies, money which was made
back in as soon as a day. Everyone s quality of standard rose, it became easier to become rich
without working very hard, the more money people made, the more money they could spend, and
thus the economy kept moving. And yes, this was due to the fact that the government, for the most
part, kept its nose out of the economy and let it run its course. Everything was going fine, so why
should the government intervene in the economy and tell the public what they could and could not

Islam Is A Religion Of Violence
In the article Islam Is a Religion of Violence , Ayaan Hirsi Ali discusses the long debated

A year after moving to the U.S., she established the Ayaan Hirsi Ali Foundation to help protect
women in the West against militant Islam. The author s efforts to strive for her goal and the
recognition she received shows she has gained the public s attention and takes her stance against
Islam seriously; however, despite the background, her writings on criticism of religious texts are
still debatable and unsuccessful.
The article, Islam Is a Religion of Violence , is organized in a manner that makes it easy to
follow the argument. The author presents a question and then attempts to answer it, but it is
evident the conclusion is already decided from the title. This bias dictates the critical tone on the
analysis of the Islamic texts. It also leads to a strategic use of words and exclusion of critical
information to appeal to the particular audience of Muslims and non Muslims who have some
knowledge of Islam. It is interesting that the author makes an important distinction between Islam
as a set of ideas and Muslims as adherents as the statement creates a logical fallacy against her
thesis. It can be inferred that the religious texts are only writings on paper; the people who follow
the ideas interpret it to be peaceful or violent. From the beginning of the article, the author s
argument creates a contradiction. Furthermore, it is acknowledged with the separation of Muslims
into three groups that the problem is Islam s followers and

Stereotypes In Sorry For The Loss By Bridget Keehan
When it comes to stereotypes, it often results in our expectations don t match reality. But I can
help make the world easier to understand. In the short story Sorry for the Loss from 2008 by
Bridget Keehan, we meet a minister who becomes surprised when an inmate, she meets, don t seem
to be what she had expected.
This minister is the main character of the short story. She is a catholic and her name is Evie. She
works at a prison and has been working there for 5 years. She finds comfort in praying because she
finds the brutality in prison intimidating.
Evie has to deliver her first death notice on her own. It is to an inmate named Victor. Victors
grandmother has passed away, and Evie wants to do everything right. For Evie, it is easier to judge
the inmates than to relate to them. She sees them as some kind of villains. When she delivers the
bad news to Victor, Evie doesn t understand Victors reaction. She was sure he would begin to cry,
but he doesn t. She expected Victor was a brutal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But as the reader, we might know. His way of reacting to death is different from the reaction Evie
would have.
The short story has an open ending. It is up to the reader to decide if the experience has made
Evie develop. Even though the final sentence where the butterfly knife is used as a metaphor for
Victor, indicates that she hasn t developed. She wanders back to the chapel trying to imagine a
butterfly knife and the damage it could wreak and wondering at the strangeness of how a thing so
hard and sharp, designed to cut, slice and stab, could be named after something so delicate and easy
to kill. (P. 6, l. 185 188)
Evie doesn t understand how a calm intelligent young man can be such a coldblooded killer.
There is a conflict between expectations and reality. It is stressed by the use of contrasts. While
Victor is this good looking boy, there is a large prison guard with a skin

Optometry Experience
There I stood in the examination room confident, inquisitive, and elated to meet the great
optometrist Dr. Dewey Handy. As he entered the room, he spoke with a pleasant tone Hello,
what can I do for you today? . I eagerly responded, Dr. Martin, MD encouraged me to come speak
with you about gaining shadowing experience and working as an optometrist assistant. Of
course, his response was, do you have any knowledge about the field of optometry? I confidently
responded, Very little, but I would like to explore this area to see if it would be the career path
for me. Dr. Handy gracefully sat in his chair and began to explain to me his primary focus,
responsibilities, and the life style of an optometrist. To conclude our conversation, he cheerfully
allowed me to shadow him along with the other optometrist. While observing Dr. Handy, I notice
how he leads his team by maintaining a professional persona, properly communicating with
patients, and expressing strong analytical thinking skills. These superior skills contribute to the
success of his private practice and inspire me to pursue a rewarding career in optometry. Through
previous experience, I have learned in order to achieve a goal one must prepare a solid foundation

Lotus Bassinet Research Paper
Lotus Bassinet Review If you have been searching the web for baby products that you can fall in
love with, chances are good you have seen the Lotus Travel Crib and other products. The reason
for this is simple. Lotus designs items that make it easy to travel with a little one. It does not
matter whether you are traveling to Grandma s house or across the country to stay in a motel on
vacation. Unsure if you should consider it? Check out our Lotus Bassinet review to find out
more about this extremely versatile brand of bassinets, play yards, and travel cribs. The
Difference Between Lotus and Other Cribs/Bassinets/Playards Most bassinets are too bulky to
be easy to carry along on adventures outside of the home. Most of them do not fold up or fit
inside of a storage container the way that the Lotus does. Travel cribs are still rather large cribs
that are difficult to carry if you must travel via a plane. Playards are the same way. Many of
them are playpens that are designed in a way that allows them to fold up flat, but not fold up
small. Lotus products fold up small. They are designed for traveling, but they are comfortable
enough to allow you to use them without worry when at home. The Guava family Lotus crib folds
up small enough to be carried in a large shoebox if you are going to choose the bassinet style crib....

plane. They enjoy how easy it is to set up the Lotus travel crib and take down. In fact, most
parents love so much about it, the easiest way to show you all of the features is to have you read

Types Of Risk As Small Business Manager
Types of Risk
Introduction
There are all types of risks involved if one is small business manager or a manager of a larger
corporation. The responsibilities on a day to day basis can be vital towards the success of the
organization. The company facilities can be associated with working capital, production, and sales.
The manager would need to reflect a common awareness of the potential risks that can be involved.
Although, there can always be a risk involved in an organization, the manager would and should
have the capability to identify the type of risks that the company can surface. In this paper, one
will provide a further explanation on the various risks and along with presenting a way for
financial managers on a moderate approach towards these risks.
Property Risks Property risks defined under a business can comprise of various things that can
cause damage to a property of the business. For example, a business can be damaged due to a
flood. According to Pielke, Downton, Miller, (2002), Flood damage has increased in the United
States, despite local efforts and federal encouragement to mitigate flood hazards and regulate
development in flood prone areas (p. 1). Although flood insurance is not federally required, in some
cases, individuals can be financially vulnerable to floods. If and when flood insurance is available,
disaster assistance is usually a loan that one must repay with interest. In essence, there is not a sure
way to avoid things from

Immigration And Immigration Reform
Imagine that you are a senior in high school. You are nervous and excited to start the process of
getting a job and attending college. You obtain a couple of job applications and a Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to fill out. Naturally, as you fill out these forms you ask your
parents for your social security number, however, this is the moment you find out that you are
undocumented. Shocked and in disbelief, you can t help to see all your hopes and dreams go down
the drain. Nevertheless, like many other undocumented students, you discover there is still hope for
your situation. For instance, your research leads you to former President Barack Obama s Deferred
Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects minors who were brought to this
country illegally as children. Created through executive action in June of 2012, DACA gives young
undocumented immigrants: protection from deportation and a work permit. Subsequently, on
September 5th, 2017, the Trump administration rescinds the DACA policy, and approximately
800,000 young immigrants will become eligible for deportation at the end of six months. Therefore,
the only way to update our immigrationsystem is for Congress to pass immigration reform, which
offers a pathway to citizenship, plus, acknowledge that the 14th Amendment applies to homosexual
conduct and illegal aliens.
Comprehensive immigration reform would have significant economic benefits for DACA
recipients and American citizens. In

Beneficial Effects of Probiotics Essay
INTRODUCTION
Probiotics are ingestable microorganisms which gives the consumer a beneficial effect. First coined
by the late eli Metchnikoff probiotics are described to be microorganisms which are ingested in
small amount to increase the diversity of both flora and fauna inside the human body this reaction
in turn affects the adaptation abilities for the human body to react to different surroundings, digest
different things, or just improve the antibody or the mechanism that already exists in the human
body.
This mechanism of diversity caused by many flora inside the digestive track of humans are
beneficial because it helps with the digestion of a more diverse product. Even if the probiotic does

Some of the other reasons why lactobacillus plantarum 229v is used is that because it is a gram
positive facultative aerob bacteria it can survive in low oxygen environment like inside the juice
box or in the juice itself.
Although lactobacillus plantarum cost are higher this certain strain of lactobacillus is specifically
engineered to have more commercial benefits.
Some benefits can also benefit the product itself. Like many other lactic acid bacteria
lactobacillus plantarum229v releases lactic acid if in dairy based product lactic acid might bring
a negative side effect of giving it a crude rancid taste and smell in juices with a sour taste like
orange, black current, and mango these lactic acid give or enhance the taste. According to a 2006
study of comparison of both probiotic and non probiotic juice, juices containing lactobacillus
plantarum yields a higher mark with emphasis on them being more fragrant and tasteful. Another
side effect of these lactic acid is that the lactobacillus plantarum uses the lactic acid to control
competing microorganism this affects the product by giving it a longer shelf life without any
excessive amount of sugar and or any other added preservative.it is also worth mentioning that by
eliminating the need of any preservative production cost can be cut down significantly and the
product can now avoid any problems based on the use of

Lizzie Borden Case
Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks and when she saw what she had done
she gave her father 41 . Lizzie Borden was accused for the murder of her father and stepmother.
The childhood rhyme is technically false. One reason would be that the Borden case was never
solved and another would be that Andrew, Lizzie s father, was whacked only 11 times and Abby,
Lizzie s stepmother, was whacked 19 times. The mystery behind Andrew and Abby Borden can
be summed up in two theories: Lizzie was the killer and there s no way she was the murderer.
Now, While the death of Abby and Andrew Borden is brutal, it as yet to be solved. On the hot
morning of August 4,1982 in Fall River, Massachusetts, two people were killed, many people
pointed the finger at daughter of Andrew Borden, one of the people murdered on that hot morning
(Bee 1). In addition, Lizzie s mother died when she was only three years old not long after, her
father was soon married to Abby Gray, the other person killed that morning (King 1). Abby, Lizzie
s stepmother, believed that the reason everyone in the house became sick around the time of the
murders was that they had been poisoned (Barclay 2).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most key suspects was Lizzie because she disliked her stepmother, Lizzie also would
receive her father s money. In addition, Lizzie had lots of people pointing the finger at her many
people believed she planned it in advance (Katz 9). Also, cops found a blade covered in ash, A
hatchet had been discovered in the basement of the Borden home, but its blade was clean and the
handle had been broken off (Maranzani 2). Lizzie could have broken and cleaned the handle off
the hatchet, and changed her dress in 8 to 13 minutes (Katz10). Based on the evidence provided it
makes the most since that Lizzie Borden was in fact the murderer. Lizzie being one of the only
ones in the house adds to the questioning of Andrew and Abby Borden s

  • 2. The Walt Disney Corporation The Walt Disney Corporation was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio by brothers Walt and Roy Disney. The company brandished its current name in 1986 after the death of Walt Disney (1). This company like other large conglomerates has a vice grip on the flow of information that reaches consumers like you and me. Some people believe that having these corporations constricting our access to information leads to a generation of uninformed people, but in the day and age when anybody can get onto to google and search with specific enough criteria to find articles proving any stand point... they were going to be uninformed any way. For example, there are people out there who believe vaccines cause autism, there are plenty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, The Walt DisneyCorporation owns more channels than just the ones that share its namesake. These companies include: ABC broadcast network, Disney Channel, Freeform publishing, The History Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Marvel Studios, Pixar Studios, AND a 32% holding of Hulu, an 80% holding of ESPN Inc., and 50% holding of A E. If you didn t know the name by now, then it should be painfully obvious at this point. The scarier thing is that each of the networks listed has even more subsidiaries that add to the reach of Disney. One example is ESPN Inc., it owns ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPN on ABC, ESPNews, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Films, ESPNU, ESPN Classic, ESPN Now, SEC Network, and ESPN The Magazine... just to name a few (6). Disney is known for that Iconic shape of one specific cartoon mouse, the symbol it s self has changed as the years go on but Mickey Mouse s head/ silhouette is always an easily recognizable logo for a company that everyone knows. The logo was originally adopted in 1991, 63 years after the original Steamboat Willie was produced (1). This was one of the many firsts for Disney allowing them to maintain their status of a multimedia powerhouse of the US. The very first completely animated feature length film was produced by Disney in 1937, you may have heard of it, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. No one has ever even attempted anything like this ... • 3. Compare And Contrast Thyroid And Hypothyroidism There are many different types of thyroid diseases. The two I would like to discuss are hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. These two thyroid diseases have a few similarities and many differences. Hyperthyroidism is known as an overactive thyroid which occurs when the thyroid gland overproduces thyroid hormones causing the body s natural functions to accelerate (University Michigan, N.D.). On the contrary, hypothyroidism is known as an underactive thyroid which occurs when the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone which leads to the body s natural functions slowing down. Hypothyroidism is more common, affecting five to twenty percent of people in the United States. Meanwhile, only one percent of people in the United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The symptoms of hypothyroidism include weight gain, coarse, dry hair, hair loss, cold intolerance, constipation, irritability, memory loss, abnormal menstrual cycle, and decreased libido (University Michigan, N.D.). The symptoms of hyperthyroidism include hand tremors, mood swings, nervousness, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, irregular heartbeat, skin dryness, trouble sleeping, and weight loss. Fatigue and muscle weakness are some symptoms of both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The process for diagnosing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism is exactly the same which includes laboratory test, thyroid scan, and radioactive iodine uptake test. The laboratory test for diagnosing both are thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test and thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) test (University Michigan, N.D.). Treatment for both diseases is remarkably different. Hyperthyroidism treatment consists of radioactive iodine, antithyroid medication and sometimes a beta blocker to alleviate symptoms (Milas, 2014). There are two antithyroid medications available in the United States methimazole, also known as Tapazole, and propylthiouracil. Tapazole and propylthiouracil both stop the thyroid from producing T3 and T4 hormones. The most common treatment for hyperthyroidism is radioactive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Religion In The Sassanid Empire Introduction Religion played an important role in Sassanid Empire, although the relationship between Sasanian kings and religious practice was complex and inconsistent. It is not easy to uncover the actual role of religion in the political culture in the Sassanid Empire. For instance, it is unclear whether it was theology that drove political culture or politics influenced development of theology in order to suit in the interests of rulers. In the light of evidence available in modern times, this paper seeks to investigate the nature of the role of Zoroastrianism and the Zoroastrian priesthood in Sasanian political culture. Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life Traumatic Brain Injury Can Ruin Your Entire Life Head (Brain) injury is known as a major public health problem that is a frequent cause of death and disability in young people, Among the many challenges that survivors of traumatic brain injury must face, behavior problems rank among the most difficult. Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, is a type of brain injury that occurs when trauma causes damage to the brain. It can cause when a person s head suddenly or violently hits an object, or an object hits the person, and damages the brain tissue. A person with a TBI may remain conscious or he/she might be unconscious for a few minutes. Some symptoms of TBI include headache, confusion, lightheadedness, dizziness, blurred vision or tired eyes, ringing in the ears, bad taste in the mouth, fatigue or lethargy, a change in sleep patterns, behavioral or mood changes, and trouble with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking. These symptoms might be experienced by any person with mild, moderate to severe TBI (Real Warriors). According to me, any type of TBI can become a big problem in the future, then it doesn t matter if it s mild or a severe injury. It might also be such a big problem nowadays because of many reasons, one of which can be cultural beliefs. The amount of people suffering from TBI is increasing dramatically because of the careless decisions made by the people. • 7. The Worst Hard Time Summary Timothy Egan writes the book The Worst Hard Time. In the book, it has a build up to how the Dust Bowl occurred, and it explains the effects of the Dust Bowl through families that were in the plains. Then to the end of the book, things are starting to turn around when Franklin D. Roosevelt visits the Great Plains. Timothy Egan s thesis is that from the beginning, the whole United States starts to tip the balance of the Great Plains, which led to the Dust Bowl, and the people hitting rock bottom; however, two opposite ideas come together with faith that the Great Plains can be rebalance. Egan writes in an inspiring tone that gives a feeling of understanding how the people felt in the worst time, and he stays on topic of his main point but is slightly bias. In the beginning of the book, Timothy Egan effectively show that the removal of Indians and the XIT ranch was the start line to the Dust Bowl. Egan writes about how the United States drives both the Indians and the cowboys out of the Midwest for the farmers, which Egan signals that this is the spark that started the worst hard time. Egan explains this by writing, This grass was never meant to be plowed, James told his fellow cowboys. By writing this, Egan shows that the cowboys know that the farmers should not have used the land for crops, because they know that the rain will not always be there. Throughout the first chapters, Egan continues to give scenarios that tip the balances like the effect of the clearing of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The economy in the 1950 s was thriving, and a decrease in poverty percentages arose which benefitted those of the generation (Brinkley). However, during this time period America underwent a nationwide revolution as a result of the Cold War(Kennedy 877). Critical areas of American life such as space travel, arms development and the acquisition of foreign alliances such as North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) were formed, all to oppose the communist political ideology (Kennedy 877). The Beat Generation was founded in the early 1940 s but was mainly developed throughout the 50 s. Some of its major influences were Jack Kerouac, known as the generations founder, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Allen Ginsberg, each with their own social impact in society (Rahn). The majority of those within the movement were from the middle class but educated in public policies as well (Rahn). The major points that were argued by this generation were that Capitalism was really a policy that hurt Americans more than it helped them and it would come to question the materialism of the 50 s society. In a book known as Howl published by Allen Ginsberg within the time period would come to challenge the view of pornography (Rahn). A trial was conducted and it was found that fictional writings were not to be impacted by censorship (Rahn). Not all members of society enforced the outbreak of this ideology. China began to manifest an awareness of environmental problems in the early 1970 s (Ross, 810). This was because China had gained a seat in the UN and was working with the U.S during this time. Right before the 1972 Stockholm conference China had created a domestic agency that worked with environmental issues so that they had a voice in the conference. This conference came to the existence of SEPA which had policies with emission permits that was modeled by economically advanced countries such as the U.S (Ross, 812). SEPA was a cost to the state and could restrain a growing economy which was not in China s best interest. Right before the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development China and 41 other developing countries made a declaration. This declaration acknowledged the need for international co operation to promote environmental protection and sustainable development while demanding financial assistance (Ross, 814). This was also mentioned by the top leaders of China that economic development would reject in any interference with domestic politics for environmental policy (Ross, 814). Cuba Is A Unique Nation In Which It’S Culture Has Been Cuba is a unique nation in which it s culture has been defined as a result of incorporating different customs from various nations over time. Beginning in the 1500s, the Spanish would be the first migrants to inhabit the island. Not only did the Spanish bring their customs along with them, but fifteen years after their arrival they also brought African slaves onto the island. Even through the hardships of slavery and oppression, the African s maintained practices and preserved aspects of their culture that were eventually incorporated into Cuban culture as a whole. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the remainder of Indians that were still alive in hiding or under Spanish rule as slaves, the Spaniards were able to freely impose their culture, eradicating that of the Indians. After the Indian slave population diminished, the Spanish brought in African slaves to fill the gaps in the work force. However, like their oppressed predecessors, the slaves eventually rebelled too. With slavery falling out of fashion across the globe in the late 1800s, Carlos Cespedes, a sugar planter in Cuba followed suit and freed his slaves in 1868 to help start and fight in a rebellion against the Spanish crown (Class Notes, 2/21/17). The interesting concept explored in this rebellion concerns the notion of African slaves and local Cuban s working together. Two parties with different ethnic backgrounds came together to fight the dictatorial rulers of the country. Through this union and expression of transculturation as both backgrounds believed in the ideology of equal rights, the conflict eventually grew in size and became known as the Ten Year s War. Although the Spanish regained control after the war s end, it signalled a shift in ideology on the island away from the Spanish crown, and eventually lead to the abolition of slavery and ultimately independence from Spain. Ethnic Conflict and Tension The early Christian Church in Spanish controlled Cuba was one of the first groups to call for the abolition of slavery; however, they approached the concept prior to Cespedes and from a ... • 17. Prenatal Screening And Prenatal Development Throughout all of mankind s history all living beings have shared a common trait since their conception, prenatal development. Prenatal development can easily be categorized as a fascinating period of great anatomical and physiological progress. Yet, as time progresses and the wonders of medical technology advance at a limitless pace, such a time has recently been viewed as a period of constant and profound examinations for unborn infants. The term, prenatal examinations, can be divided into the three categories of prenatal screenings, genetic screenings, and diagnostic screenings. Prenatal screenings are primarily involved with the detections of the possible abnormalities and conditions that may be displayed by the infants. However, it has been vastly emphasized to be a non definitive diagnosis for most pregnancies. The normal and recommended blood tests as well as ultrasounds throughout pregnancies classify as a realm of prenatal screenings. Genetic screenings, considered by many to be a complex version of prenatal screenings, examine the alterations of the chromosomes, genes, and proteins of the fetus. Currently, genetic screenings are sub divided into three main categories, molecular genetic screenings, chromosomal genetic screenings, and biochemical genetic screenings. Molecular screenings examine the genes of a fetus in an attempt to recognize any mutations in the DNA of the fetus and to detect the likelihood of the development of a genetic disorder. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My favorite one is the photograph of the bartender s fridge. His fridge alone allowed me to envision so many different circumstances. His fridge carried so much character. In both photographs the fridge is completely cluttered and unorganized. The fridge from 2008, was filled with boxes of take out. There isn t any evidence of him cooking anything for himself. This allowed me to come to the conclusion that it s due to him being a male bachelor, who probably doesn t know how to cook. There s also the possibility that it s due to him not having enough time to cook for himself. Most of that food in the Styrofoam boxes are probably bar food that he took home, because it was convenient for him. In the article, Menjivar mentioned how taking the photograph was so unbearable due to the stench coming from the fridge. It s pretty clear the fridge would smell, without him stating it. The fridge looked absolutely atrocious. The second photograph in 2012, was still a cluttered mess, but there were no take out Styrofoam boxes. The fast food had been replaced with some healthier options like humus, tuna, yogurt, some greens, and plenty of drinks. For a bartender, I expected a lot more liquor in to be in both fridges. I was kind of shocked to see there were more in 2012, and barely any in the photo in 2008. It s evident that his bad eating habits had changed, even Menjivar mentions this. • 19. 19 Minutes, By Jodi Picoult 19 minutes is a book written by Jodi Picoult that describes a school shooting. This book was written in a pretty unique way, because instead of having story told by sequential events from one perspective, it is told from many perspectives, from different times, and in different orders. For example, one moment you could be reading from the point of view of the shooter during the event, and the next you re reading from the point of view of a student 6 months after. The author uses different points of view and a non linear timeline to tell a unique story. Jodi Picoultuses different points in time for each chapter, but it isn t a random order. Whenever there is a change in time, it is because it logically follows what you just read. What ends... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the book, you get to see through the eyes of the shooter, the judge, the judge s daughter, the shooter s parents, the shooter s lawyer, and the main detective on the case. I might even be missing a few, but these viewpoints were the most used. This ties in well with my previous point where I said the author used different points in time. Not only do you get to see different views, but also you get to see each viewpoint at many different times. One chapter you could be reading about what the judge was doing before her daughter was born, and the next chapter you could be reading about what the lawyer and his family is going through near the end of the case. There are a few characters and moments that I think showcase how well these viewpoints were done in this book. One of them is the different viewpoints during the shooting. While the first time the shooting is described we only see from the detective, later on we get to witness it again from other s eyes. This line is from Patrick s view, Turning a corner, Patrick slipped on blood and heard another gunshot, this one loud enough to ring her ears. (Picoult, 22) and this line is from Josie s view, As the gun fires, it ripper two stripes of her skin from the base of her thumb. Her hands jerked upwards. (Picoult, 440). These two lines are talking about the same gun shot, but Patrick s line is from the beginning of the book, and Josie s line is from the very end. Another part of the book that I think benefited well from different viewpoints is the relationship between Josie and her mother, Alex. The two don t have a very deep relationship in the beginning, which is shown by Josie many times, The last place Josie wanted to go was out to dinner with her mother. (Picoult, 150). Josie usually tries to avoid her mother and thinks she doesn t understand her. From Alex s view, she feels like she hasn t been a very good mother to Josie and often is ... Mitnick s perspective comes from a social angle instead of a technological one, seeing as he is known as the greatest hacker all over media and most of his methods weren t technologically inclined but socially. A quick look into Mitnick s background, he was an only child who had a knack for understanding the Nitti Gritty of technology. As a child, he managed to hack the bus system in Los Angeles and travel for free, exploited telephone networks as a teen and in college, infiltrated their network and was later hired because it was either that or expulsion. These are just a few of his many hacking exhibitions. He has served jail time because he realised what he did was wrong and is now helping companies avoid similar exploitations through his securitycompany, public talks and through his books. In this day and age, where information is the new currency on the block, criminals are on the rise to acquire this information. The book highlights the different techniques and attacks of the social engineer and how easily we are persuaded into thinking that technology has secured us from these attacks. He shows these through a variety of stories that have actually happened as indications of our negligence to these attacks, but as well points out ways that we can protect ourselves from these attacks and become less victimized by the social engineer. Islamic terrorism was brought to the forefront of American and Western awareness on September 11, 2001 with the crash of the twin towers. More acts of terrorism committed by Muslims followed throughout the years in different parts of the world. To understand the cause of Islamic terrorism, Ali divides its adherents into three categories: the fundamentalists or the Medina Muslims who envision a regime based on Islamic religious law, the clear majority or the Mecca Muslims who are not inclined to practice violence or even intolerance towards non Muslims, and Muslim reformers or... The author s efforts to strive for her goal and the recognition she received shows she has gained the public s attention and takes her stance against Islam seriously; however, despite the background, her writings on criticism of religious texts are still debatable and unsuccessful. The article, Islam Is a Religion of Violence , is organized in a manner that makes it easy to follow the argument. The author presents a question and then attempts to answer it, but it is evident the conclusion is already decided from the title. This bias dictates the critical tone on the analysis of the Islamic texts. It also leads to a strategic use of words and exclusion of critical information to appeal to the particular audience of Muslims and non Muslims who have some knowledge of Islam. It is interesting that the author makes an important distinction between Islam as a set of ideas and Muslims as adherents as the statement creates a logical fallacy against her thesis. It can be inferred that the religious texts are only writings on paper; the people who follow the ideas interpret it to be peaceful or violent. From the beginning of the article, the author s argument creates a contradiction. Furthermore, it is acknowledged with the separation of Muslims into three groups that the problem is Islam s followers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is up to the reader to decide if the experience has made Evie develop. Even though the final sentence where the butterfly knife is used as a metaphor for Victor, indicates that she hasn t developed. She wanders back to the chapel trying to imagine a butterfly knife and the damage it could wreak and wondering at the strangeness of how a thing so hard and sharp, designed to cut, slice and stab, could be named after something so delicate and easy to kill. (P. 6, l. 185 188) Evie doesn t understand how a calm intelligent young man can be such a coldblooded killer. There is a conflict between expectations and reality. You obtain a couple of job applications and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to fill out. Naturally, as you fill out these forms you ask your parents for your social security number, however, this is the moment you find out that you are undocumented. Shocked and in disbelief, you can t help to see all your hopes and dreams go down the drain. Nevertheless, like many other undocumented students, you discover there is still hope for your situation. For instance, your research leads you to former President Barack Obama s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects minors who were brought to this country illegally as children. Created through executive action in June of 2012, DACA gives young undocumented immigrants: protection from deportation and a work permit. Subsequently, on September 5th, 2017, the Trump administration rescinds the DACA policy, and approximately 800,000 young immigrants will become eligible for deportation at the end of six months. Therefore, the only way to update our immigrationsystem is for Congress to pass immigration reform, which offers a pathway to citizenship, plus, acknowledge that the 14th Amendment applies to homosexual conduct and illegal aliens.
