The concert took place in St. Joseph church on Mono Street. After the orchestra tuned
all their instruments, the conductor, Garo Avessian, came to the podium. The first
piece played was Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M. Glinka, The Overture
opens with a fast tempo and dynamic rhythm which leads to crescendo at moments.
There follows a strong, joyous theme that leaps about with seemingly unbounded
energy. Although, this theme, has a complete opposite mood compared to the
original theme, it complements it. After this, a smooth, warm theme is played by the
cellos, which to me was the highlight of the whole piece. What caught my attention,
was that the last theme played was the recapitulation of the original them (sonata
form). To me, the conductor and orchestra, completely understood each other and
worked in harmony, mastering an already elegant piece.

What s a unique about this piece is that it was never played before, and it is
completely different compared to the other pieces played. It starts off with drums
interspersed with the flute, which contained elements from both eastern and western
styles. Tala then starts playing the piano and at the same time makes noises with her
mouth, which was theatrical and at the same time unorthodox. You could hear a few
middle eastern moments during the piece, plus some western style touches. The
piece finished with her walking around the church holding a small radio, which
played a fragment or two from a popular Lebanese song. All in all, I liked how
Bushra fused elements from both western and middle eastern culture into an unusual
piece that we don t hear that often. Moreover, Tala s theatrical performance enhanced
this piece s likability, although, I preferred the other style of music being played that

When I googled on the Internet about a news story relating to Classical Studies, I
happened to found an interesting article on The Lost Palace of Sparta Possibly
Uncovered in Live Science. My main reason for choosing this news story was
because I have always been interested in Late Bronze Age Mycenaean
Civilization, since Mycenaean culture appears to be connected with Homer s Iliad s
Trojan War. Secondly, I took a course on Classical Archaeology as an undergraduate
student in Classics. Therefore, I studied the nineteenth century archaeologist Heinrich
Schliemann and his excavation of Agamemnon s palace and his gold mask at
Mycenae inspired me very much. For me, the most striking aspect of my news story
was the Linear B tablets found on the site. Ghose (2015) stated that the inscriptions
represented the earliest form of the Greek language. Although the fire baked the
tablets, the fascinating writings on these Linear B tablets discussed clearly the
centralized distribution of goods like wool and grain, noted (Killgrove 2015). These
inscriptions on the Linear B tablets give the readers a history of palatial events in the

Davis became involved with freeing three black inmates of Soledad Prison in
California. The three black inmates were George Jackson, John Clutchette, and
Fleeta Drumgo. People also know these inmates as the Soledad Brothers. The three
men had been charged for the murder of a jail guard. The guard had been shoved
over a prisonrailing when he stumbled into a rebellion among African American
prisoners began by the deaths of three black prisoners by another prison guard.
Although, it has been claimed that there was no evidence that Jackson, Clutchette,
and Drumgo had killed the guard. They were charged with his murder. As it went on,
Davis began corresponding with Jackson and soon developed a personal relationship
with him. Davis and Jackson s little brother, Jonathon traveled to all the hearings held
at the court that had to do with the Soledad Brothers case. There were other
supporters that supported the Soledad Brothers.
On August 7, 1970, Jonathon wanted his brother to be freed. To make that happen,
he used a gun that was registered to Davis and had a shoot out at the Marin County
Courthouse. At least four were killed during the incident, including Jonathon and

The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) operates a wide range of psychosocial
and medical programs in Bexar County whose target populations include individuals
with behavioral health disorders and intellectual disabilities. (The center for health

services also offers care for the homeless population and those who are suffering
and trying to recover from substance abuse. After searching the internet and
comparing multiple agencies, I always found myself coming back to CHCS. I love
that this agency offers all forms of help for people with special needs and those who
are suffering from mental Illness. I have a brother who is special and suffers from
both behavioral and intellectual disabilities. I feel like working for this agency, I
would learn to understand my brother more, and be able to support him in ways I
haven t before. I also love that the CHCS works with veterans. As a (former)
military spouse, I was always interested in the health and wellness of our soldiers
who suffer from PTSD, and mental illness. One of the most fulfilling aspects of
working in the mental health field is being able to provide support to others during
the most challenging moments in their life. To me, it became apparent after

this character type to great success (Gallagher, n.d.). She has become an example of

The entire situation is quite sad, but the way Kid Sampson s death is described in
the story is very humorous but the black humor was used because Joseph Heller
believed authority wasn t as smart as most people thought it was and he wanted to
get this message to the reader. Hungry Joe, another minor character in the story, is
affected by the war in a similar way that Captain Flume was; it causes him to act
abnormal while sleeping. Hungry Joe had fled the most missions out of everyone
else which would explain why he is affected majorly from all of the things he
witnessed in combat. He is described to be terrified of death (like Yossarian) and he
frequently wakes up in the middle of the night screaming because of dreams he
has. One of the other character s cats also sleeps on Hungry Joe s face in the night
which adds to the hilarity of the situation. Although this is funny because of the cat

States problem as it can be seen across the world in many fields of work. There are
many factors that contribute to the gender pay gap and there is not one clear
solution for these issues. Regardless of a solution the results of the wage gap are
apparent, it mainly effects women as it lowers their wages as they are paid less for
equal work, have penalized them for having children, and shows bias within
