For my observation on a speech event, I chose to observe my relatives coming to
my home for a small dinner/get together on Thanksgiving. I had around 13 families

The art of medicine is often portrayed throughout the variations of Peter Pan, whether
positive or negative. Medicine takes shape in many forms; ranging from real, but
make believe medicine, to pretend healing, to even poison. When taking these things
into consideration, one can see how medicine is used to stay a child throughout Peter
Pan.
The novel and play of Peter Pan open up with a scene where the children are getting
ready for bed and the parents are getting ready for dinner. In this scene, is the first

Music is a universal language is such a clichГ© phrase. But there s some truth to it.
You listen to an opera, most of the time is sung in a foreign language, you could not
care much how little you understand the song because the music carries you through
the piece. There has been studies that music can calm a person, makes them agitated,
or even motivated. Other studies states that the musicwe listen to can tell what type of
personality one person has.
My musical preference, though all over the place at times, is mainly focused on
theatrical show tunes. When choosing a song for this essay, I originally chose an
aria from Bernstein s operetta, Candide, which was Glitter and Be Gay. Though I
love the music, it did not speak to me as it is comic operetta song. Ultimately, I chose
something from Stephen Sondheim s catalogue, a song called I m Still Here from the

Our study determined how detrimental pet activity is on the environment, more
specifically the water systems at Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, and McKinney Falls. My
hypothesis was the if there is human and pet activity near water ways, there will be
an increase in algae boom and chlorophyll a concentration because bacteria body
material, and feces of the dog affects the water s health. Our results did not agree with
our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at McKinney Falls,
where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets
were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed,
had samples with an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the
samples from Bulls Creek. Other factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff
could have also altered water quality.
I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with
about the same amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls
Creek. On the other hand, Wild Basin swimming is not allowed. Our results showed

that Werther sees himself in the unhappy man. The reader s point is then validated
when at the end of the passage Werther has written a note expressing this: Unhappy
man, you cannot be saved, I see for sure that we cannot be saved (Passage II).
Werther s use of the word we is essential to understanding what is going on here.
Through his pleading and sorrows, he knows such an action cannot be forgiven and
that when one s love for someone isn t returned, it is likely they can commit
regrettable and disapproving actions. Werther s stubbornness demonstrated his
childlike persona in such a way, illustrating the way that many children behave when
they don t get something they want. This is extremely apparent in the way he
stormed off at the end of the passage after being denied

The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James is a heartfelt story about a naive American
named Isabel Archer, who experienced love and heartbreak.
Pain s deep... but it passes, after all. It s passing now but love remains. Ralph
Touchett.
The main characters of this story are Isabel Archer, Ralph Touchett, Lord Warburton,
Caspar Goodwood, Pansy Osmond, and Mr. Touchett.
The time span was in the late 1860 s. The story starts at an old house in Florence.
The book describes it as, A long gabled front of red brick, with the complexion of
which time and the weather had played all sorts of picturesque tricks, only, however,
to improve and refine it, presented itself to the lawn, with its patches of ivy, its
clustered chimneys, its windows smothered in creepers. (pg.4) Mr. Touchett, Lord
Warburton, and Ralph Touchett were on the porch talking about what an interesting
woman would be to them. As the story goes on, we are introduced to Mrs. Touchett,
who is going to bring her niece to England. Mr. Touchett joked with Ralph and Lord
Warburton and told them that neither of them were to fall in lovewith his niece. The
two laughed at the time, but by the end of the story, they both fell in love with her.
Lord Warburton was the first one to fall in love with Isabel. He proposed not too
long after meeting her. But as much thought and love came into what Lord
Warburton said, Isabel refused. I m not sure I wish to marry any one. (pg. 109) They

The Gay Liberation Movement Of Manhattan, New York
City
On June 28, 1969, the Gay Liberation Movement was sparked due to the Stonewall
Riot in Manhattan, New York City, (History.com Staff). The Stonewall was a gay
club located in New York City. It was often regulated and harassed by police
officers but one day the LGBT decided to stand up for themselves and fight back.
Although the police were legally justified in raiding the club, which was serving
liquor without a license among other violations, New York s gaycommunity had
grown weary of the police department targeting gay clubs, a majority of which had
already been closed. The crowd on the street watched quietly as Stonewall s
employees were arrested, but when three drag queens and a lesbian were forced
into the paddy wagon, the crowd began throwing bottles at the police. The officers
were forced to take shelter inside the establishment, and two policemen were slightly
injured before reinforcements arrived to disperse the mob. The protest, however,
spilled over into the neighboring streets, and order was not restored until the
deployment of New York s riot police. The raid on the Stonewall Inn lead to many
riots and created an uproar from the LGBTcommunity, (Teal).The Stonewall Riot
was followed by several days of demonstrations in New York and was the impetus for
the formation of the Gay LiberationFront as well as other gay, lesbian, and bisexual
civil rights organizations. It is also regarded by many as history s first major protest
