Abstract Pressure ulcer prevention is a major task of direct care personnel in
hospitals around the world. Even with evidenced based polices currently in place
at many facilities, patients still continue to develop pressure ulcers. Patients with
pressure ulcers require the care of a multi disciplinary team, ranging from nursing
assistants to nutritionists to wound care physicians. Pressure ulcers are expensive
to treat, can lead to infections and other illnesses, and sometimes cost patients their
lives. A literature search was conducted of five articles related to pressure ulcer
prevention in order to find a solution to implement on a medical surgical unit at a
local hospital. The proposed change was selected using Lewin s Change Theory.
The proposed solution was to train nursing assistants in assisting registered nurses
(RNs) with monitoring patients skin and providing care to prevent the
development of pressure ulcers. The pros and cons of this solution, required
resources, costs of implementation, education required, and evaluation of the

with this lies in the notion that most children are not playing educational games or
watching educational television. Instead, they are drawn to social media

five to sixteen spend an average of six and a half hours a day in front of a screen

George Orwell s Treatment Of Women In 1984
George Orwell s 1984 written in 1948 displays the dangers of a totalitarian
government through the dystopian society of Oceania set in the year 1984.
Through the eyes of the main character Winston Smith the audience is thrusted into
a world where there is no trust, passion, or a true sense friendship. The land of
Oceania is not every man for himself, but every man for the Party. Through this
same perspective, the social group of women are portrayed in a negative light.
This may be a result of Winston s past experiences with women and the social
conditioning he underwent simply by living within Oceania. Within the first 20
pages of the text it is made obvious to the audience that Winston is not fond of the
female gender, claiming that He disliked nearly all women, and especially the young
and pretty ones describing them as ...the most bigoted adherents of the Party, (10).
Winston even goes as far to describe a twisted fantasy he had in regards to a female

Big Brother and the Party needed impregnable loyalty so over time they
systematically tore the ties between lovers and family. We [The Party] have cut the

Diane Arbus And Dorothea Lange
Before starting this project, I knew very little about photography, photographers, or
exactly how much impact photographical images have had on our society. I have
never taken a photography class, or researched too in depth about specific pictures
or photographers. This project has allowed me to delve deeper into the world of
photography in order to understand just how much influence pictures can have over
society s beliefs, emotions, and understandings . I have have chosen two highly
influential photographers, Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange, who I have found to
both resonate with me and perfectly capture human emotions in way that moves
others. Diane Arbus was a photographer in the 1950 s and 60 s. Starting out as a
fashion photographer, Arbus quickly moved on to photographing more impactful
pictures, usually of societal outsiders ( The Cost of Diane, 2016). With striking
images of freaks, as she once named her subject, Arbus perfectly depicted feelings of
loneliness and struggles with identity. I believe Arbus resonates with me so much
because of her uncanny ability to showcase such complex and intense human

I came across many pictures that created many different feelings within me, and
came to better understand the world of art and its impact on both a personal and
societal level. Learning about the lives of Diane Arbus and Dorothea Lange allowed
me to view their art in different way than I would have otherwise. I found them both
