Indigenous Community Interview Paper
For my study, I will be collecting information regarding the provision and allocation of healthcare
resources and information. One of the main ways in which I which I will collect data is by
conducting interviews within the indigenous communities, specifically with mothers and the head
of households. I will conduct 32 total interviews with individuals within indigenous communities in
MГ©xico and Colombia who identify as indigenous and have stated that they have interacted with a
government healthcare official at least once in their lifetime. Due to time and financial constraints,
I will have to limit the indigenous communities I will interviewas it would be impossible to

Child Violence Program Analysis
Overview of the program Together for Girls is partnered with the CDC Foundation and the
program focuses on three major pillars. These three strategies will allow Together for Girls to
mobilize support in effort to change the number of children who are getting abused each day. The
first pillar focuses on conducting national surveys and data. This enables the program to document
the magnitude, nature, and the impact of the certain types of violence against children (TGF, 2017).
This information will allow the government leaders, civil society, and donors to be aware of the
situation. To know how to prevent violence, it is better to understand the impact of child abuseand
violence. The second pillar looks at the evidence based policies and programs... Show more content

The survey highlights those who are suffering from violence each year. As one of the major
pillars, national surveys and data are used to document the impact of physical, emotional, and
sexual violence against children. VACS is a data collection that helps to identify the key issues
with violence among young children. Surveys are collected from Malawi, Cambodia, Kenya,
Swaziland, Haiti and Tanzania. These datasets are prepared by the Division of Violence
Prevention at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although it is available to the
public, permission is still needed from the respective country governments (TGF, 2017). Every
year, the program develops the stakeholder report which puts together the collected data from the
VACS. It compares the rates of sexual violence, experiences of violence before the age of 18, and
the first sexual intercourse that was unwanted from different countries (TGF, 2017). This stage of
evaluation leads to the second major pillar which is program response and development.
Campaigns and developing goal advocacy helps to build public awareness. It identifies the target

the cleanliness and precise work shown. Every sliver of hair is placed in such a manner that the

History of Punishment
According to (Seiter, 2011) Cesare Beccaria is known as the founder of the classical school of
criminology, the first organized theory of crime causation linked to appropriate punishments.
According to (Seiter, 2011) Beccaria suggested that the purpose of punishment is utility or the
prevention of crime. According to (Seiter, 2011) Jeremy Bentham is the creator of the hedonistic
calculus suggesting that punishments outweigh the pleasure criminals get from committing crime.
According to (Seiter, 2011) another way to remove offenders from society was through
transportation or deportation. Transportation started in England and was used throughout the

In the medieval times the Hindus evolved into having philosophers, plays and music with their
religion. A man named Chaitanya came into power and claimed to have a god reincarnated inside
of him. In the
19th century, movements to reconcile traditional Hinduism with the social reforms and political
ideas of the day took place. Many people where sent out to Europe and Asia preaching and
spreading the religion. Throughout all these periods of time, the religion mutated and changed to fit
with the times and as it did it just kept gathering more and more followers.
Hinduism Today Today there are numerous self proclaimed teachers who have migrated to Europe
and the United States, where they have inspired large followings. In India Hinduism thrives despite
all the reforms and shortcuts made in the practicing due to the gradual modernization and
urbanization of
Hindu life. Hinduism continues to serve vital function by giving passionate meaning to the Hindus

Beliefs and Practices
Caste System The ideal way of life is referred to as the duties of one s class and station . In the
phrase the word class is changed to CASTE. The ancient texts tell of four great classes, or castes:
the Brahmins, or priests; the
Ksatriyas, or warriors and rulers; the Vaisayas, or merchants and farmers; and the Sudras, or
peasants and laborers. A fifth class, Panchamas, or untouchables, are people whose jobs make them

King Arthur And The Arthurian Legend
King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and other famous Arthurian legends were believed to
be mostly truth in the 11th Century. Many people enjoyed the idea that their history once contained
a time of chivalry and wonder such as the tall tales described. Indeed, some today believe the same.
However, King Arthur, despite being an influential figure from the 11th century onwards, was
mostly a work a fiction, his tales and legends an amalgamation of truth and fantasy with some
historical basis and much exaggeration. Arthurian legend is a blend of myths and historical fact,
shown through Arthur s conquests, the fabled sword and the historical King Arthur.
King Arthur, despite the original, first claims of his achievements, did not defeat ... Show more

However, the fabled Sword in the Stone was not a common part of the legend until the 12th
century. First records show that it was first written of in the works of French poet Robert de
Boron. Before this, there is no record of the sword in Arthurian legend. To some, this may be a
sign that the sword was simply a plot device, simple fiction meant to enhance the story. However,
despite appearing seemingly from nowhere, there may be some degree of historical fact behind
it. Researchers from The Skeptical Inquirer have found a sword buried in a stone, dating back to
the 11th century. A relic from a peaceful, pacifistic Italian saint, the ancient sword has sat in the
ruined remains of a chapel for hundreds of years. As Luigi Garlaschelli, writer for the Inquirer,
said, [T]he sword would date back to the same period as the legend of the sword (Garlaschelli).
And although the sword was said to have belonged to an Italian saint, it is close enough in both
proximity and time period to have been absorbed into Arthurian legend. This is evidence that the
legends are at least partially based in fact, giving a dash of truth to the tall tales.
King Arthur has many things in common with his legends. For example, he is an equal mix of
history and myth. Scholars believe that there was indeed a

Selfishness In The Necklace By Guy De Maupassant
How does an author show the reader how pride, selfishness and being unsatisfied with what you
have, turn you into someone else? Guy de Maupassant has made a story The Necklace that uses
all three of these little traits to show how they can ruin a person s life in a very Ironic way.
In this story The Necklace By Guy de Maupassant shows how Maupassant has created a wonderful,
story woven around the unsatisfied, selfish and prideful Mathilde Loisel. Through this character
and story. Maupassant illustrates to the viewers of how pride, selfishness and being unsatisfied
with life can make a person go to ruins.

Federal Income Tax Vs. Flat Tax
There has always been a large amount of discussion on the topic of the federal income tax.
Specifically, the discussions have revolved around how exactly the people should be taxed. There
are several ways in which tax rates can be determined, and all of them have some form of a strong
argument behind them. The flat taxis the best option as, by nature, it is the most fair. Tax rates are
measured by percentages, and when taxes are collected by percentages, the wealthy are already
paying more money than the poor. For example, if a flat tax rate of 20% is in place, and one
person has an annual income of $150,000 while another person has an annual income of $40,000.
The person who has the income of $150,000 is paying $30,000 in taxes while... Show more content

This tax is called sin tax, and it is a tax that is levied on items that are considered hazardous and
/or unhealthy, such as cigarettes and alcohol. It is also proven that the lower class, specifically
the lowest quintile in the U.S., spends a higher percentage of their income on alcohol and
tobacco than the upper classes. This is most likely due to the fact that the poorer people actually
purchase more alcohol and tobacco than the average person in the higher classes. The cause of
this is most probably early formations of addictions, which quite possibly ruined careers. People
who fall under this category most likely became addicted to alcohol and/or tobacco early on in
their lives, which put a financial strain on them earlier on in their careers, or even before their
careers even started, therefore hindering their ability to move up in their jobs or find better

Electricity generators or simply heaters can be placed on surface or in the well bore. Surface
heaters are better for maintenance issues. The heated shale oil is then extracted by separate
dedicated production wells.
After pyrolysis and electrofracking, comes rubbulization the third approach to the economic
recovery of shale oil. This approach was taken by Chevron Oil Company. Rubbulization is
breaking a zone of reservoir into separate chunks of rock .In other words, generating fractures in
the three dimensions. while heated carbon dioxide is used for the decomposition Kerogen in oil
shale. The process involves drilling vertical wells into the oil shale formation and applying
horizontal fractures induced by injecting carbon dioxide through drilled wells and then pressured
through the formation for circulation through the fractured intervals to rubbulize the production
zone. Rubbulization propellants and explosives may be used. The used carbon dioxide then is
routed to the gas generator to be reheated and recycled. The remaining organic matter in previously
heated and depleted zones is combusted in situ to generate the heated gases required to process
successive intervals of treated wells. These gases would then be pressured from the depleted zone
into the newly fractured portion of the formation and the process would be repeated. After that, the
hydrocarbon fluids are brought up in conventional vertical oil wells as any other conventional

The Battle of Fredericksburg falls in a long list of failures of the Army of the Potomac during the
first year of the American Civil War. Following the Battle of Antietam the Northern Army had the
opportunity to defeat Lee s army. However, Northerners, were shocked by Lee s escape following

procrastination in pursuing Lee and allowing General J.E.B. Stuarts daring cavalry raid into

Lincoln felt that the destruction of Lee s army should be the primary goal, not the capture of a

Burnside was actually moving the army in pursuit of Lee. Burnside s first act as commander was
to divide his army into three grand divisions, the right commanded by Major General Sumner, the
center commanded by Major General Hooker, and the left commanded by Major General Franklin.
Once this was completed he set forth for Virginia with a compliment of 100,000 men.
General Lee had at his disposal two army Corps, the First Corps was commanded by Lieutenant
General James Longstreet and the Second Corps was commanded by Lieutenant General Thomas

Racial Zoning
Inequality and mistreatment is prevalent in the world today. However, today the world is much
closer to solving its issues as opposed to 100 years ago. Planners are a significant part of that
fight, standing up for what they believe is right and implementing the proper plans and action
needed to begin to solve that issue. While social justice may not be at its peak today, times used
to be worse. Formerly, while trying to improve cities with zoning certain races, religions, and
peoples were excluded from the nice parts of town and even jobs. Zoning began around 1900 when
the local government restricted the height of buildings in Washington District of Columbia. From
there, the government realized it could intervene on private property and the people would allow it
(Silver, 1997). As zoning evolved, so did the type of zoning from height restrictions to land use and
eventually to redlining. Silver explains the extent situation as, the nation s planning movement, not
just its Southern branch, regarded land use controls as an effective social control mechanism for
Blacks and other undesirables (p. 2). Unfortunately for the US and for its citizens, racial zoning is
not the only undesirable social norm. Well known in cities at the time were the City Beautiful
movement and the city practical, however, social issues were merely pushed to the side. Wirka
(1996) explains that both are undoubtedly important movements in the history of planning (p. 57),
however, she goes on

Analysis Of To Build A Fire
To build a fire written by Jack London is more of a primitive survival story where the protagonist
tries not to freeze to death. It represents the battle of a man versus the nature. When I was reading
the story I could feel my body possessed by the cold temperature just because of the way the author
described it. The man was travelling with a dog, which was more conscious than him about the
situation that they were living and how arduous it was going to be travelling in such conditions.
The animal was depressed by the tremendous cold. It knew that it was no time for travelling.

there is 0.456 grams of silver were produced from 0.500 grams of silver oxide. The difference
between the mass of silver oxide and mass of silver is the mass of oxygenthat vaporized into the air.
There are 0.053 grams of oxygen vaporized into the air for trial one and 0.456 grams oxygen for
trial two.
The empirical formula is base on the ratio of moles of silver and the moles of oxygen. The
empirical formula needs to show the simplest integer number. For trial one the ratio between
moles of silver and moles of oxygen is 5/4, and the ratio between the moles of oxygen and moles
of oxygen is 1. According to the law of empirical formula, there can not be a fraction in the

writers. The Necklace is about a materialistic woman who longs to be richer than she is. She gets
an invite to a fancy dance and goes out of her way to appear like she is from money. In this
process she borrows a diamond necklace from a friend. When she loses it instead of telling her,
she works for ten year until she has enough money to buy a new one. When she finally returns
the necklace her friend explains that the necklace was fake and worth nothing, showing that the
main character could have avoided many issues by just telling the truth. The Leap is a story told
by a daughter, telling of her mother. She talks about her mother s hardships after she was in a
trapeze accident and of the person she is now. Specifically she tells of a story in which her house
was burning with her inside. Her mother jumps onto the roof and saves her daughter, eventually
bringing the story to a heartwarming ending. The two authors wrote with multiple literary
elements and writing techniques that created two incredibly engulfing stories. Yet even though
both Maupassant and Erdrich wrote two astounding stories, The Necklace overshadows The
Leap; With more attention to details and a shocking storyline, Maupassant has written a better,
more prodigious story. In reading The Necklace, the character Mathilde is presented as a very
materialist character. She spends her days longing for riches and jewels; she s constantly
comparing herself and her belongings to what everyone else has. On the contrast, her husband is
a very content individual. He perceives to find value in what he has and strives to make his wife
as happy as he is. Very quickly in the story the character foil between husband and wife emerges.
When Mathilde is feeling down her husband gives her an invitation to a fanciful party which she
emotionally declines. Surprised, the husband responds with But, my dear, I thought you d be
thrilled to death. You never get a chance to go out, and this

Postindustrial Societies And Its Impact On The US
The daily life s for postindustrial, industrial and preindustrial societies are all different. Their
descriptions of each might sound familiar but are upgraded each time. Preindustrial is the oldest
society because it is based near the Industrial Revolution. It amazes me how far our societies have
come and how they have impacted the US. If you don t know anything about these societies your
about to. Postindustrial society is where the economic importance is about providing information
and services. In postindustrial societies information and advanced technology are more important
than manufacturing goods. Post industrialization can be found in places like Europe, Japan, even
the United States. A postindustrial society sometimes follows a industrialized

Green Affordable Housing Essay
Introduction
Green building has come forth over the past decade as a positive movement to produce high
performance, energy efficient structures that improve comfort and health for resident, meanwhile,
minimizing environmental impacts. Nevertheless, a common sense that green features is expensive
and not suitable for affordable housing. Recent studies are showed that green buildings have a
modest initial cost premium, but the long term benefits far exceed the additional capital costs. For
this report, I will introduce a financial analysis Net Present Value(NPV), and discuss the impacts of
NPV analysis for green affordable housing.

To convert future dollars to present dollars, net present value analysis inserts a number discount rate
.
Here are 4 basic steps for NPV analysis Forecast the benefits and costs in each year.
We need to forecast the benefits and costs in today s dollar include opportunity costs and use
expected value to estimate uncertain benefits and costs, omit the sunk costs, non monetary cost and
benefits. Determine a discount rate.
The discount rate is a nominal discount rate. We can use this formula to converse real to nominal.
(1+real discount rate)*(1+future CPI) 1=nominal discount rate
Future CPI = Future consumer price index Calculate the net present value.
∑net present value=∑((total benefits total costs))в
Ѓ„гЂ–(1+r)гЂ—^(length ) r = discount rate
Determine alternatives
After calculate the NPV, we are not only calculated monetary costs and benefits, we also need to
consider non monetary costs and benefits.
Life cycle Costing (LCC)
Life cycle costing is an economics tool to assess the total cost of a product. Another purpose for
this tool, as a management decision tool, for comparing different parts conflicts by concentration
on facts, money and time. By using Life cycle costing, total cost of the product can be calculated
over the total span of product life cycle. All parties on this project, such as product suppliers,
consumers and owners are benefit from LCC.

The Chemical Substance Of Hydrogen Atoms
Introduction:
Water is a chemical substance composed atomically of an oxygen atom, and two hydrogen atoms,
giving it the chemical formula H2O . It has a bent molecular structure, with the centralised oxygen
atom at the top of the molecule with two lone pairs of electrons above it, and the two hydrogen
atoms branching out below, each connected to the oxygen by covalent bonds. VSEPR (Valence
Shell Electron Pair Repulsion) Theory is utilised in chemistry for the prediction of a molecules
geometry. This theory was constructed off the idea that valence electron pairs around an atomhave a
tendency to repel each other, thus forcing the molecule to organise itself in a manner that creates
the least possible electron repulsion. By observing a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the electrons are positioned closer to the oxygen atom, the upper segment of the molecule is
slightly negatively charged (gaining negative charge from electron) and the lower segment is
slightly positively charged (losing negative charge from electron) . Therefore water is a polar
molecule.
A polar molecule is a molecule that possesses a negative charge at one end, and a positive charge
at another end, caused by the positioning of the electrons due to electronegativity. However, a
molecule can have a positive and a negative charged end and still be non polar. Dipoles are a
measure of polarity that are caused by a variation in electronegativity. The difference in
electronegativity results in an atom having a greater pull on the shared pair of electrons. If the
shape of a molecule causes equal dipole magnitude and an equal distance between the dipole
vectors, then the dipoles cancel out and the molecule is considered non polar .A polar molecule
possesses a neutral net charge as the positive and negative sections of the molecule eliminate an
imbalance in charge. Polarity is exclusive to covalent bonded compounds, as electron sharing is
required in order for partial positivity and partial negativity to occur. The only covalent molecules
that don t contain polar bonds are those including atoms that possess an equal electronegativity,
such as H2, or O2, as neither atom possesses a larger attractive force than the other acting upon the
electrons .

Healthy Dental Habits Include Flossing
A Family Dentist in Red Deer Helps Instill Good Oral Hygiene in Children
Getting your child started with a proper oral hygiene plan is critical to his or her health. In fact,
even pre school age children may require oral surgery if they don t implement the right habits. By
teaching your child to regularly brush and floss now, you can help him or her avoid many dental
issues in the future.
It is not unusual for a parent to doubt the necessity of flossing for a child. This could be a tragic
mistake to make. If your child does not start flossing as early as possible, he or she could manifest
preventable cavities. Additionally, neglecting to floss may result in gum disease and loss of adult
teeth later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here are some tips on flossing from your local dentists:
Why Flossing Is Important: Brushing every day is essential, but it isn t as effective as daily
brushing and flossing. Although a toothbrush works to remove plaque, it cannot reach between the
teeth or underneath the gums. Your child needs dental flossto access those areas. Neglecting to floss
enables harmful bacteria to grow there. That growth may result in many oral health problems.
Display a Chart: Children respond positively to visual cues, so consider hanging a printable
flossing chart with a calendar in your bathroom. You can give your child a sticker to reward him or
her for flossing on a daily basis. Let your child place the stickers on the calendar to reflect every
flossing session.
Floss with Your Child: To further promote this healthy habit, floss with your child every day.
Show your child how to floss, and then, floss your own teeth along with him or her. If you are
unsure about how to demonstrate flossing to your little one, ask your Red Deer dentist for
guidance. Your family dentist can show your child how to floss, as well as offer tips for assisting

With a little bit of look into this question I found some exciting information that brings me closer to
an answer to this difficult question. The American Journal of Agriculture of Economics has
postulated that the egg has arrived first. Within the article they have done some mathematical
experiments on this case and have rejected the hypothesis that eggs do not cause chickens but that
chickens cause eggs, so plainly stateing that the egg was the first(25). So they concluded that the
egg came first. Walter Thurman and Mark Fisher provided this outcome after a series of surveys on
chickens and eggs around the agriculture market.
A forum at UCLA seems to offer more of an opposing view to this question. Scientifically the idea
that the chicken came first is more appealing. They tend to go along with the theory of evolution
provided from Darwin. UCLA students hypothesis that since chickens are a bird species and that
birds evolved from dinosaurs, the chicken would have to come first on the timeline. I tend to agree
Thomas, 3 with this because it would seem awful hard for a chicken to raise it self if it just came
from an egg. Also I believe in the theory that the chicken came first because of a more obvious
aspect. If you were to look at humans, we also come from an egg, even though it is not quite like
the egg chickens come from we come from an

Warrior Gene Influence Human Behavior
In today s society, violence occurs every minute somewhere in some shape or form. It continues to
be a plague that causes humans humility, pain, and death. Both the scientific and criminal justice
fields have been stumped for years by the question of where does the influence of violence come
from? Nature versus nurture has always been one of the most prevalent arguments relating to this
topic. The nature argument is based on the belief that an individual s biology/DNA contributes to
their behavior, where the nurture argument believes that the environment one is exposed to is what
actually influences their behavior. According to Hickey, biological positivism was the method of
applying the scientific method to the task of determining who was a criminal (48). Criminologists

Advances in technology within the fields of medicine and biology have allowed researchers to

days is the study of the Warrior Gene. There is debate on whether or not the Warrior Gene has an
influence on an individual s behavior and if it can be used to determine if someone will commit
criminal acts. On one side you have those that claim the warrior gene can be related to
aggressive and violent behavior. In fact, humans with a low activity form of the MAOA
(Monoamine Oxidase A, or the warrior gene) gene are much more prevalent in groups with a
history of warfare (Hickey 49). The opposition claims nature and nurture are inexplicably linked
and that there is always an environmental component to human behavior (Hickey 49). The
question is, does a warrior gene make people more prone to violence? I will summarize the yes
and no sides of the argument while also providing my own opinion on the

Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain

Samuel Clemens was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri, the sixth of seven
children. At the age of four, Sam and his family moved to the small frontier town of Hannibal,
Missouri on the banks of the Mississippi River. Missouri, at the time, was a fairly new state (it
had gained statehood in 1820) and comprised part of the country s western border. It was also a
slave state. Sam s father owned one slave and his uncle owned several. In fact, it was on his uncle s
farm that Sam spent many boyhood summers playing in the slave quarters, listening to tall tales and
the slave spirituals that he would enjoy throughout his life.

also on this trip that Clemens met his future brother in law, Charles Langdon. Langdon reportedly

After courting for two years, Sam Clemens and Olivia (Livy) Langdon were married in 1870.
They settled in Buffalo, New York where Sam had become a partner, editor and writer for the daily

Budget Cuts And Its Effects On Society
Imagine world that is bland, along with its individuals all the selfsame. In result of the reprehension
of creative courses in academia. That previously mentioned world would soon become an actuality.
When budget cuts were accruing in my school district; I remembered my fine arts teachers were
petrified that not only their department would cease to exist but they would no longer have an
occupation. There is a constant reminder of how paramount the sciences and mathematics are; but
the fine artssuch as music, ceramics, art, and all the other courses that allow creative freedom are
important as well.
As in consequence of our troubling economy, budget cuts were inevitable. In the year 2008, more
than eighty percent of schools nationwide had received budget cuts. Music and theater classes were
cut to the full extent along with some art programs. Within the late 90s and early 2000s schools had
theatre and dance classes available, ranging in the twenty percentile. Currently, that percent has
dropped drastically to two percent. These are just brief statistics on the outcome of budget cuts and
how quickly the outcome is the demise of the fine arts in schools nationwide.

Emily Dickinson s A Certain Slant of Light Analysis Essay

Emily Dickinson s There s a certain Slant of light
In her poem, There s a certain Slant of light, Emily Dickinson uses metaphors and imagery to
convey the feeling of solemnity and despair at winter s twilight. The slanted light that she sees,
is a metaphor for her battle with depression. Anyone who is familiar with Dickinson s
background will have a better understanding of what she is trying to say in this poem. Dickinson
was known as a recluse and spent most of her life isolated from the outside world. The few people

If we re feeling down, like the speaker of this poem, we see the world as how we feel inside;
things look unpleasant, and grey and dismal. We re unable to see a ray of hope that is coming

speaker calls it, comes everything listens. When someone dies, those still on this earth
sometimes experience stillness in nature, as if the world is on hold and listening to us. In
Dickinson s poem the stillness comes from the slant of light, and the landscape and shadows

stanza. The capitalization of Landscape and Shadows gives the impression that the speaker is
referring to someone she knows. The mood here changes quite a bit compared to the first three

The World Of The War Propaganda By Alice Goldfarb Marquis
At the beginning of the war, the British army relied on volunteers to swell the ranks, which
propaganda facilitated. Newspaper articles were one of the main forms of media that spread
British pro war propaganda. Alice Goldfarb Marquis writes that the articles were seen as
powerful movers of men and women; they became mobilizers of the national spirit, calls to
courage, to sacrifice and, finally, to simple endurance (467). This statement portrays the general
message of all articles: the men must have courage and be ready to make sacrifices for the greater
good of their country. Describing the journalists as powerful movers of men and women (467)
demonstrates journalists abilities to empower the British peopleto enter the war. Journalists were at
the forefront of creating propagandaand influencing people to take action. Marquis describes the
role of the journalist as an engineer of souls playing on the whole keyboard of human instincts... to

engineers of souls, (467) makes it clear that the journalists had the ability to manipulate the people,

articles to motivate people to take up arms. Furthermore, with access to the press, journalists were

i.Proponents believe that dare improves decision making and attitudes towards drug use. In a
2002 study from the University of Akron, graduates were 6% higher in drug knowledge than
those who never participated in the DARE program. [Now although these studies show a decline

Effects Of Dietary Nitrates On Weight Maintenance
SUMMARY OF THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL

Paper Name:Nutritional Research Methods
Paper no.:151.708
Topic of research: The effect of dietary nitrates on weight maintenance in obese population
following a 10% weight loss
TITLE
The effect of dietary nitrates on weight maintenance in obese population following a 10% weight
loss
BACKGROUND
Dietary nitrates are inorganic inert anionic compounds in fruits, vegetables and cured meats. About
80 85% of the nitrate in our diets is derived from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hypothesize the nitrate to have significant implication on the post weight loss RMR and
possibly cause relapsing of the weight loss.
STUDY DESIGN AND OUTCOMES
A 6 month randomized three way crossover trial consisting of three groups: 20 healthy, 20
obese, and 20 mixed participants (placebo group for nitrate supplementation)is proposed. All
groups will be screened for thyroid function, hepatitis A B and HIV).All participants will be kept
on a low nitrate weight maintenance diet formula till the weight remains constant for 2 weeks
(weight change 10 g/d). RMR is measured using indirect calorimetry. They are then fed a
hypocaloric diet(800 kcal/d) until a 10% weight loss is achieved(estimated time 12 weeks).RMR
and weight is measured again. The formula diet is reinstated and 0.1mmol/kg/d inorganic nitrate
for a period of 3 weeks is given along with it to the two groups excluding the placebo group. RMR,
plasma and salivary nitrite levels and weight changes are recorded.
SIGNIFICANCE
The only study on effect of nitrates on RMR was on healthy humans and no study has been done to
study their effect on weight maintenance. Obesity is a serious condition and long term maintenance
of target weight by obese individuals is not very successful(Wing Phelan, 2005). This study aims
study the differences in RMR changes after a nitrate rich diet between obese and healthy subjects
and see the practical implications of a reduced RMR by dietary nitrates consumption on

Pastoral Caution
pastoral preacher must not only be attuned to his congregation, but he must be attuned to the
world as well. He must know how to make the Bible relevant. Studying society and the culture
can do this. Caution should be taken in the endeavor so that he does not become enticed by the
world s lies. 2. The key components of effective pastoral preaching have been derived from my
person study of the content, concepts, and resources in presented in this course. The first
component would be a sense of one call. One must know for sure that the Lord has called them
unto salvation and also to preach. The call to preach entails pastoral care. This call allows the
pastoral preacher to proclaim God s word with clarity and authority. The call allows the... Show

I feel confident when it comes to planning a sermons series. The in class activity helped me. In
class we were split into groups and had to come up with a sermon series. My group had to come
up with a group that preached through a book. As we spent time reading through the book
looking for natural divisions and discussion, I was able to understand some aspect that I should
employ in my person ministry. Dr. Bryson s text, Expository Preaching, was probably the best
resource. I liked how he walks readers through the process of how to preach through a book. By
the end of the book one knows how to break a book down into smaller preaching units. Dr.
Rummages Planning Your Preaching helped me understand the why of planning. I came to know
how to develop a strategy and an objective for my preaching. These resources and the in class
activity helped me achieve objective

Research Paper On Drugs In Sports
Drugs Taking its Toll
Lebron James once stated, but sports carried me away from being in a gang, or being associated
with drugs. Sports was my way out (Pilon). The access to drugs in today s world is becoming
easier and easier. Studies show numerous athletes from other countries travel to the United States to
buy stimulants that are illegal in their countries, to be used in competitions(Scott). In addition,
games are supposed to be entertaining but how could they be when rules are broken and bad
examples are shown, all resulting in awful side effects.
Lots of people are in the stands cheering for the players, but are they cheering for their effort in the
game or their ability to cheat? Taking performance enhancing drugs will destroy ... Show more

level, show good sportsmanship by not cheating. It is good to show younger generations a proper

should be bought, but it is a good idea to stay clear of them in case any symptoms begin to reveal
themselves. It is great to just show the world actual skill, than to do some pills and ruin the whole

What dynamic role do IT managers play within the company s strategic versus support
infrastructure? Why is IT governance necessary? What is the exposure if a company ignores IT
governance? Illustrate the case with two regulation compliances of personal choice
Introduction
With our ever growing reliance on computers for almost everything, proper IT management has
never been more important. Without good IT oversight almost any imaginable disaster can occur.
In this essay I will take a look at the role IT managers play in their company s support and strategic
infrastructures, the necessity for good IT governance and two organizations that failed at IT
governance.

Generally IT managers are more involved in support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The FBI
One case where the lack of IT governance resulted in failure was the FBI s doomed Virtual Case
File (VCF) project. In this case FBI officials began raising doubts about the bureau s attempts to
create a computerized case management system as early as 2003, two years before the $170 million
project was abandoned altogether, according to a confidential report to the House Appropriations
Committee. The problems involved the progress of the software development efforts and were
attributed to contracting and program management oversight, according to the report. (Eggen, 2005)
Bank of America
Another case is Bank Of America s MasterNet project. MasterNet was a new trust accounting
system. In February 1988, hardware problems caused the Bank of America to lose control of
several billion dollars of trust accounts. All the money was eventually found in the system, but
all 255 the entire Trust Department was fired, as all the depositors withdrew their money. This is a
classic case study on the need for risk assessment, including people, process, and technology related
risk. BofA spent $60M to fix the $20M project before deciding to abandon it altogether. BofA fell
from being the largest bank in the world to No. 29. (Nelson) According to By Jeffery G. Szilagyi in
his case BANK OF AMERICA S MASTERNET SYSTEM: A CASE STUDY IN RISK

Legitimacy Of Courts During The Judicial System
Legitimacy of courts has long been an important factor in the judicial system. However, a more
recent concern has been diversity. It is becoming increasingly important for the court to represent
those who it serves. The ECJ s composition remains unreflective of the millions of black and
migrant European Union citizens whom it serves . Judgements of both the domestic courts of
England and Wales along with the European Court of Justice, affect the everyday lives of all EU
citizens including those of minority and underrepresented groups. Outcomes should not be
influenced by considerations of political or financial consequences . Independence is important as it
is vital that each judgeis able to decide cases solely on the evidence presented to them by the parties
in court. Personal independence is always necessary to ensure that the judiciary as a whole of both
the land or the community remains independent. In order for the courts to be fully independent,
they must represent the diversity of the people and make decisions in accordance with the law with
no other influences. With the growing influence of the government over the last century it has
become increasingly important that the judiciary fulfils its responsibility to protect the public
against unlawful acts of the government. What has therefore also become increasingly more
important is the need for the judiciary to be completely independent from the government. The
evidence suggests that the courts nowadays are not

Bandura Child Development
Throughout the session, there were signs of different theorists portrayed. One of them was
Bandura, social learning theory. Bandura states that children learn through their environment
through the surrounding people, meaning, children see people around them which led them to
behave in various ways (MacLeod, 2016). This illustrated through the Bobo doll experiment
(Bandura, 1961). When Phoebe started to use the breath level technique with Gabriel she had
managed to get his attention, and when she did, he would copy her, give more eye contact and
smile. Gabriel also started to share as he saw others doing the same, this process called modelling.
Another comparison element of a theorist during the session was B.F Skinner, operant conditioning

The process called scaffolding by theorists named Vygotsky (McLeod, 2016). Moreover, Piaget s
theory, stages of development was also included within the clip. Autism affects the senses of the
human body, and so, during the clip Phoebe provided help with the first important stage of a
human beings growth sensorimotor. The sensorimotor is the beginning stage where children
begin to interact with the environment (Bee et al., 2006). Phoebe taught Gabriel how to get out
of his comfort zone and interact with the outside world, portrayed through the intensive
interaction with Phoebe. The developmental stages can relate to Maslow s hierarchy of needs
because the basic needs have to approach first so that Gabriel can start to develop. Maslow
believes that people have a set of motivational systems that are ungulate to rewards or
unconscious desires. Maslow (1943) stated that when one person is motivated to do one thing,
and the need is fulfilled, they will move on to the next one and so on and observing the video the
basic needs were met as Gabriel had access to drink, food as well as safety, all the cupboards had
locks, and there was always someone with him at all times (Caldwell,

Building The Civilized Workplace
In regard to your development of a 75 minute module on Executive Leadership and Workplace
issues, I have discovered important information that may be useful. I read both Building the
Civilized Workplace by Robert Sutton and The Smart Talk Trap by Jeffery Pfeffer and Robert
Sutton. Each article was well written and clearly professional; I would recommend that you use
both of these articles to include into your module. The two articles complement each other by
having similar underlying themes, and they will help your students become strong leaders.
Building the Civilized Workplace by Robert Sutton has a clear cut message: don t be a jerk. The
article covers how negativity in the workplace dramatically diminishes the success of a business.

How committed is Canada, with respect to environmental...
In Canada, concerns involving environmental security are not the top priority. But due to recent
research, Canada must be more strongly committed to environmental security due to increasing
environmental problems internationally. There are many ways Canada can stay committed to
environmental security, for example, increased funding to Canadas Department of National Defence
s EnvironmentDepartment. Also to stay committed to increased access and support to Voluntary
Environmental Programs across Canada. Finally to completely stay up to world standards in
environmental security, Canada must implement an effective environmental planning system.
Throughout the essay, the topic at hand will be if Canada is able to implement these actions to...

The main type of contamination is hydrocarbons. Over a long period of time, Canada has used a
lot of fuel and has used many fuel storage facilities, as these storage facilities age, hydrocarbons
form and are lethal to the environment. A notable hydrocarbon clean up was the Distant Early
Warning (DEW) line, which contained 21 contaminated radar military sites. Currently, eight of
them are clean and two are currently being cleaned. If these sites were ignored, the surrounding
environment would be a wasteland and no economic benefit would be derived from that area
(Stones, 2004).
Even though the DND s Environment Department seems to be working hard, Canada s
environment is still being affected by war even though there has not been one here in the 20th
century. In 2003, Canada s military was called in to protect the environment because the
Environment Department failed to follow federal environmental laws to protect habitats. The
department simply does not have the personnel or resources to complete all the environment
concerns across Canada (Bow, 2004). The most important thing to know about the DND s
Environment Department is that it lacks funding because, when it comes to the Canadian
Government, it is not of main concern. The Canadian Government is focused too much on short
term issues and not focused enough on long term issues such as

This Republic Of Suffering Summary
In This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War, Drew Gilpin Faust tells the story
of the Civil War while revealing the way the thousands of deaths changed the United States as a
whole. She presents this testimony of history by telling the eight main ways the Civil War changed
the nation while including countless forms of evidence. This paper will review Fausts historical
narrative, the book s evidence, as well as evaluating the quality of Faust s writing throughout the
book. The purpose of Drew Gilpin Faust writing this book remains incredibly clear as wanting to
show the different ways the Civil War directly affected the United States people and government.
This purpose presented by Faust is made obvious by the intelligent arguments and countless pieces
of evidence to support the claims brought to the reader s attention. All of these arguments... Show

Each chapter is divided up into one argument. These chapters include key pieces of information for
the reader to get a better understanding about the war and the affect it had on the nation. Through
evidence and accounts from people in the war, Faust shows how and why the country changed on
both the government and the citizen front. For the government, the war showed them the flaws in
their soldier responsibilities. Because of the war the government changed many different policies to
deal with death, created national cemeteries, implemented better identification and numbering
systems, as well as worked out different programs to take care of the soldier s families. For citizens
the war changed their ways of mourning, thinking of the afterlife, their views on religion, their
process of burial, as well as their amount of respect each person held for the soldiers in the war.
The author makes clear that without the war many of the tactics and ideals the country has in place
today would not be the same without the Civil

The Golden Era Of Hip Hop Was A Period In The 80S And Early
The Golden Era of Hip Hop was a period in the 80s and early 90s characterized by its diversity,
innovation, and cultural influence. Hip Hop is considered to have been born in 1973, in South
Bronx, New York by Jamaican born Kool DJ Herc (Blanchard, B, 1999). He used a turntable
technique at a Halloween party, which eventually became extremely popular at every party scene.
The term breakdancing came to life shortly after. Rhymes over hip hop music, also known as rap,
began first as a commentary of the ability of the DJ. MCs introduced DJs and their songs. This
rhythmic music produced by DJs at parties combined with an increase of break dancers, graffiti
artists, and importance of MCs, created what we know today as the culture of hip hop.... Show more

Rap was called the black CNN by rapper Chuck D because they were reporting issues within the
inner city community through mainstream media. This idea of rap as the black CNN can be
seen from the descendance of rapper as griots. Griots were the keepers and purveyors of of
knowledge, which included tribal history, family lineage, news of birth and death, and war
(Blanchard, B, 1999). Rappers create songs that through performance and recordings, allows it to
spread worldwide about their lives, dreams, and discontents. They are the voice of poor, urban
African American youth whose lives are usually misrepresented or dismissed by mainstream media.
Rappers become the keepers of contemporary African American working class history and concerns.
Public Enemy s lyrics were dissected by critics in light of Chuck D s statement. Their song
called Fight the Power, recorded in 1989, caused uproar because of the blunt attacks of
celebrities such as Elvis Presley and John Wayne. They called these two celebrities out on being
racist instead of being a hero to them, Public Enemy or it could be generalized to the black
community, as they were to everyone else. This song created a unified message that could apply to
everyone, not just the African American community. Beneath the lyrics lie powerful messages
about history and politics. When people listen and don t understand the lyrics, it causes them to
maybe want to do research to be more informed. Rappers such

Resolutions at Workplace
RESOLUTIONS AT WORKPLACES
Today, negative samples of conflicts are surrounding us; when you turn on your TV, almost
every news program, reality show or a talk show or sitcom episode, we watch people acting out
their conflicts more often than not in their worst way possible. Let s face the reality here; anyone
working person, spends more time with our work colleagues with than we do with our family,
friends and loved ones. Fortunately or rather unfortunately, our work colleagues become our best
friends. But even in the best of times it s not unusual to be faced with the guy three cubicles down

Mediation supports people to find a path through the pain of conflict and out to resolution.
Mediation does help parties to generate their own positive outcome from their conflict journey
(Katherine Graham, 2010) .
According to Vivian Scott, every person involved in a conflict, has a responsibility in that
conflict. As difficult as it is to admit you probably have some responsibility in the conflict. Self
assessment, and by that I mean more than 30 seconds of superficial introspection, requires you to
consider how your actions and reactions look to others. Ask yourself, what have I said or done, or
not said or done, that has kept this conflict going? Change may not happen overnight, and you may
need the assistance of friends, family, or professionals to help you through the transition. No need
to continue being the bully, the one who stirs the pot, or even the victim. If it takes two to tango
and you re no longer willing to dance, the conflict has no choice but to diminish, (Vivian Scott,
2010) .
Pride comes before a fall; we have to change our character and even when our expectations are not
met, the immense fulfillment of our goals and ideas in furthering our agenda has a quality that is
above the conflict. When we examine and change our own habitual patterns of

  • 3. Child Violence Program Analysis Overview of the program Together for Girls is partnered with the CDC Foundation and the program focuses on three major pillars. These three strategies will allow Together for Girls to mobilize support in effort to change the number of children who are getting abused each day. The first pillar focuses on conducting national surveys and data. This enables the program to document the magnitude, nature, and the impact of the certain types of violence against children (TGF, 2017). This information will allow the government leaders, civil society, and donors to be aware of the situation. As one of the major pillars, national surveys and data are used to document the impact of physical, emotional, and sexual violence against children. VACS is a data collection that helps to identify the key issues with violence among young children. Surveys are collected from Malawi, Cambodia, Kenya, Swaziland, Haiti and Tanzania. These datasets are prepared by the Division of Violence Prevention at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although it is available to the public, permission is still needed from the respective country governments (TGF, 2017). Every year, the program develops the stakeholder report which puts together the collected data from the VACS. It compares the rates of sexual violence, experiences of violence before the age of 18, and the first sexual intercourse that was unwanted from different countries (TGF, 2017). Many people enjoyed the idea that their history once contained a time of chivalry and wonder such as the tall tales described. Indeed, some today believe the same. However, King Arthur, despite being an influential figure from the 11th century onwards, was mostly a work a fiction, his tales and legends an amalgamation of truth and fantasy with some historical basis and much exaggeration. However, the fabled Sword in the Stone was not a common part of the legend until the 12th century. First records show that it was first written of in the works of French poet Robert de Boron. Before this, there is no record of the sword in Arthurian legend. To some, this may be a sign that the sword was simply a plot device, simple fiction meant to enhance the story. However, despite appearing seemingly from nowhere, there may be some degree of historical fact behind it. Researchers from The Skeptical Inquirer have found a sword buried in a stone, dating back to the 11th century. A relic from a peaceful, pacifistic Italian saint, the ancient sword has sat in the ruined remains of a chapel for hundreds of years. As Luigi Garlaschelli, writer for the Inquirer, said, [T]he sword would date back to the same period as the legend of the sword (Garlaschelli). And although the sword was said to have belonged to an Italian saint, it is close enough in both proximity and time period to have been absorbed into Arthurian legend. This is evidence that the legends are at least partially based in fact, giving a dash of truth to the tall tales. King Arthur has many things in common with his legends. For example, he is an equal mix of history and myth. Scholars believe that there was indeed a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specifically, the discussions have revolved around how exactly the people should be taxed. Tax rates are measured by percentages, and when taxes are collected by percentages, the wealthy are already paying more money than the poor. For example, if a flat tax rate of 20% is in place, and one person has an annual income of $150,000 while another person has an annual income of $40,000. This is most likely due to the fact that the poorer people actually purchase more alcohol and tobacco than the average person in the higher classes. The heated shale oil is then extracted by separate dedicated production wells. After pyrolysis and electrofracking, comes rubbulization the third approach to the economic recovery of shale oil. This approach was taken by Chevron Oil Company. Rubbulization is breaking a zone of reservoir into separate chunks of rock .In other words, generating fractures in the three dimensions. while heated carbon dioxide is used for the decomposition Kerogen in oil shale. The process involves drilling vertical wells into the oil shale formation and applying horizontal fractures induced by injecting carbon dioxide through drilled wells and then pressured through the formation for circulation through the fractured intervals to rubbulize the production zone. Rubbulization propellants and explosives may be used. The used carbon dioxide then is routed to the gas generator to be reheated and recycled. The remaining organic matter in previously heated and depleted zones is combusted in situ to generate the heated gases required to process successive intervals of treated wells. These gases would then be pressured from the depleted zone into the newly fractured portion of the formation and the process would be repeated. This was mainly due to the fact that Burnside was actually moving the army in pursuit of Lee. Burnside s first act as commander was to divide his army into three grand divisions, the right commanded by Major General Sumner, the center commanded by Major General Hooker, and the left commanded by Major General Franklin. Once this was completed he set forth for Virginia with a compliment of 100,000 men. Both of these corps comprised of 35,000 men for a total of 70,000 men. After leaving Maryland, Lee decided to divide his army by sending the Second Corps to the Shenandoah Valley towards Winchester Virginia and the other towards Culpeper station Virginia in order to see what the North was going to do. • 16. Racial Zoning Inequality and mistreatment is prevalent in the world today. However, today the world is much closer to solving its issues as opposed to 100 years ago. Planners are a significant part of that fight, standing up for what they believe is right and implementing the proper plans and action needed to begin to solve that issue. While social justice may not be at its peak today, times used to be worse. Formerly, while trying to improve cities with zoning certain races, religions, and peoples were excluded from the nice parts of town and even jobs. Zoning began around 1900 when the local government restricted the height of buildings in Washington District of Columbia. From there, the government realized it could intervene on private property and the people would allow it (Silver, 1997). As zoning evolved, so did the type of zoning from height restrictions to land use and eventually to redlining. Silver explains the extent situation as, the nation s planning movement, not just its Southern branch, regarded land use controls as an effective social control mechanism for Blacks and other undesirables (p. 2). Unfortunately for the US and for its citizens, racial zoning is not the only undesirable social norm. Well known in cities at the time were the City Beautiful movement and the city practical, however, social issues were merely pushed to the side. • 21. Summary OfThe Necklace, And Louise Erdrich s The Leap Short stories are some of the hardest stories to write; taking into consideration just how much balance there has to be between details and plot, telling a full story in about ten pages. Guy De Maupassant, who wrote The Necklace, and Louise Erdrich, author of The Leap, are two brilliant writers. The Necklace is about a materialistic woman who longs to be richer than she is. She gets an invite to a fancy dance and goes out of her way to appear like she is from money. In this process she borrows a diamond necklace from a friend. When she loses it instead of telling her, she works for ten year until she has enough money to buy a new one. When she finally returns the necklace her friend explains that the necklace was fake and worth nothing, showing that the main character could have avoided many issues by just telling the truth. The Leap is a story told by a daughter, telling of her mother. She talks about her mother s hardships after she was in a trapeze accident and of the person she is now. Specifically she tells of a story in which her house was burning with her inside. Her mother jumps onto the roof and saves her daughter, eventually bringing the story to a heartwarming ending. The two authors wrote with multiple literary elements and writing techniques that created two incredibly engulfing stories. Yet even though both Maupassant and Erdrich wrote two astounding stories, The Necklace overshadows The Leap; With more attention to details and a shocking storyline, Maupassant has written a better, more prodigious story. In reading The Necklace, the character Mathilde is presented as a very materialist character. She spends her days longing for riches and jewels; she s constantly comparing herself and her belongings to what everyone else has. On the contrast, her husband is a very content individual. He perceives to find value in what he has and strives to make his wife as happy as he is. Very quickly in the story the character foil between husband and wife emerges. It has a bent molecular structure, with the centralised oxygen atom at the top of the molecule with two lone pairs of electrons above it, and the two hydrogen atoms branching out below, each connected to the oxygen by covalent bonds. VSEPR (Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion) Theory is utilised in chemistry for the prediction of a molecules geometry. This theory was constructed off the idea that valence electron pairs around an atomhave a tendency to repel each other, thus forcing the molecule to organise itself in a manner that creates the least possible electron repulsion. By observing a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the electrons are positioned closer to the oxygen atom, the upper segment of the molecule is slightly negatively charged (gaining negative charge from electron) and the lower segment is slightly positively charged (losing negative charge from electron) . Therefore water is a polar molecule. A polar molecule is a molecule that possesses a negative charge at one end, and a positive charge at another end, caused by the positioning of the electrons due to electronegativity. However, a molecule can have a positive and a negative charged end and still be non polar. Dipoles are a measure of polarity that are caused by a variation in electronegativity. The difference in electronegativity results in an atom having a greater pull on the shared pair of electrons. If the shape of a molecule causes equal dipole magnitude and an equal distance between the dipole vectors, then the dipoles cancel out and the molecule is considered non polar .A polar molecule possesses a neutral net charge as the positive and negative sections of the molecule eliminate an imbalance in charge. Polarity is exclusive to covalent bonded compounds, as electron sharing is required in order for partial positivity and partial negativity to occur. The only covalent molecules that don t contain polar bonds are those including atoms that possess an equal electronegativity, such as H2, or O2, as neither atom possesses a larger attractive force than the other acting upon the electrons . ... The American Journal of Agriculture of Economics has postulated that the egg has arrived first. Within the article they have done some mathematical experiments on this case and have rejected the hypothesis that eggs do not cause chickens but that chickens cause eggs, so plainly stateing that the egg was the first(25). So they concluded that the egg came first. Walter Thurman and Mark Fisher provided this outcome after a series of surveys on chickens and eggs around the agriculture market. A forum at UCLA seems to offer more of an opposing view to this question. Scientifically the idea that the chicken came first is more appealing. They tend to go along with the theory of evolution provided from Darwin. UCLA students hypothesis that since chickens are a bird species and that birds evolved from dinosaurs, the chicken would have to come first on the timeline. There is a constant reminder of how paramount the sciences and mathematics are; but the fine artssuch as music, ceramics, art, and all the other courses that allow creative freedom are important as well. As in consequence of our troubling economy, budget cuts were inevitable. In the year 2008, more than eighty percent of schools nationwide had received budget cuts. Music and theater classes were cut to the full extent along with some art programs. Within the late 90s and early 2000s schools had theatre and dance classes available, ranging in the twenty percentile. Currently, that percent has dropped drastically to two percent. Emily Dickinson s A Certain Slant of Light Analysis Essay 1 Emily Dickinson s There s a certain Slant of light In her poem, There s a certain Slant of light, Emily Dickinson uses metaphors and imagery to convey the feeling of solemnity and despair at winter s twilight. The slanted light that she sees, is a metaphor for her battle with depression. Anyone who is familiar with Dickinson s background will have a better understanding of what she is trying to say in this poem. Dickinson was known as a recluse and spent most of her life isolated from the outside world. The few people that she did come in contact with over the years are said to have had a major impact on her poetry. Although, her main muse of her work seems to be despair and internal conflict. ... When someone dies, those still on this earth sometimes experience stillness in nature, as if the world is on hold and listening to us. In Dickinson s poem the stillness comes from the slant of light, and the landscape and shadows listen and figuratively hold their breath. The landscape and shadows are personified in this stanza. The capitalization of Landscape and Shadows gives the impression that the speaker is referring to someone she knows. The mood here changes quite a bit compared to the first three stanzas of this poem. You get a sense of anticipation instead of despair, and the oppression that the speaker has felt has lifted and now she s feeling light and maybe some what alluring. Newspaper articles were one of the main forms of media that spread British pro war propaganda. Alice Goldfarb Marquis writes that the articles were seen as powerful movers of men and women; they became mobilizers of the national spirit, calls to courage, to sacrifice and, finally, to simple endurance (467). This statement portrays the general message of all articles: the men must have courage and be ready to make sacrifices for the greater good of their country. Describing the journalists as powerful movers of men and women (467) demonstrates journalists abilities to empower the British peopleto enter the war. Journalists were at the forefront of creating propagandaand influencing people to take action. It is becoming increasingly important for the court to represent those who it serves. The ECJ s composition remains unreflective of the millions of black and migrant European Union citizens whom it serves . Judgements of both the domestic courts of England and Wales along with the European Court of Justice, affect the everyday lives of all EU citizens including those of minority and underrepresented groups. Outcomes should not be influenced by considerations of political or financial consequences . Independence is important as it is vital that each judgeis able to decide cases solely on the evidence presented to them by the parties in court. Personal independence is always necessary to ensure that the judiciary as a whole of both the land or the community remains independent. In order for the courts to be fully independent, they must represent the diversity of the people and make decisions in accordance with the law with no other influences. With the growing influence of the government over the last century it has become increasingly important that the judiciary fulfils its responsibility to protect the public against unlawful acts of the government. What has therefore also become increasingly more important is the need for the judiciary to be completely independent from the government. The evidence suggests that the courts nowadays are not ...
