O People owned shares- a certificate bough from a stock
company that represents a certain part of ownership of

O The Companies are interested in trade and profit. The
rewarded investors for the risks involved in settling a
new Colony
O Investor- a person who lends money to a company; the
investor hopes to receive more money back when the
company makes money
