Stuart Hall proposed a model of communication with multiple moments: production, circulation, distribution/consumption, and reproduction. He argued that the meaning of a text is interpreted differently by its producer and readers based on their backgrounds and contexts. Hall also suggested that readers can take a dominant, negotiated, or oppositional reading position based on their agreement or disagreement with the text.
