Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median and Mode
Empathy Map and Problem Statement
1. Feel:
• Uncertain
• Out of my comfort zone
• Lucky
• Regretful
Say:
• “Would have done a non-research
or lab-related internship during
school”
• “Underestimated how competitive
[jobs] would be.”
• “Completely new process”
• “Lot of resources available but I
didn't take advantage of them”
• “Degree was an asset”
• “Grad degree increased job
prospects”
• “Having a degree … didn't help in
terms of applicable skills”
• “Made a compromise with myself”
• “Got lucky"
Think:
• Don’t need to seek help
• My education will be enough
– don’t need to seek out
specific skills
• Won’t get exactly what I
want right away
• More education will look
good to employers
Problem Statement:
An environmentally-focused, masters-degree-holding, socially-
conscious, introverted, young woman needs a way to be
competitive for an entry-level job because formal education
often does not provide applicable job-applicable skills.
