2. What is Formal and Informal E.mail?
Informal E.mail An
informal letter or email is
usually between people
who know each other fairly
well.
Formal E.mails are
written for official or
professional
communication.
3. What is Emoticons??
A representation of a facial expression such as a smile or
frown, formed by various combinations of keyboard
characters and used in electronic communications to
convey the writer's feelings.Common Emoticons are
• :-) Indicate happiness
• :-( Express unhappiness
• :-@ Express shock or screaming
• :-| Express frowning
• :-Q Express confusion
4. What is Acronyms??
An Acronym is a word or name formed as an
abbreviation from the initial components of a phrase or a
word.Common Acronyms are here;
• AAMOF as a matter of fact
• BBFN bye bye for now
• IMO in my opinion
• LOL lots of luck
• MGB may God blessc
• IOW in others words
5. Email jargon
• spam - Uninvited/ unrequested email sent to many people
simultaneously, usually commercial, but occasionally
political.
• bounce - A message that was returned to the sender,
either because the email address was incorrect or
because there was a configuration problem on the
receiver's end.s
• distribution list - A single email address that resends to
many others, allowing a discussion to continue easily
among a quasi-stable group of participants. Also called
emailing lists or listservs (from LIST SERVers).
6. • bot - A piece of software that acts on behalf of and in
place of a remote human (from roBOT).
• mailbot - A piece of software that automatically replies to
email.
• listbot - A piece of software that manages distribution
lists. Also called a listserver or majordomo (after the name
of a common list server).
• post - Send to a distribution list or Usenet newsgroup, i.e.
to a quasi-stable group of people.
• flame - An electronic message that is particularly
hostile.Can also be a verb.
7. E.mail Jargon
• lurk - To read messages anonymously (in either a mailing
list or Usenet newsgroup) without posting.
• ping - Test to see if the other person is
there/awake/available. (This comes from a Unix test to
see if a machine (or its net connection) was active or not.)
"Lunch tomorrow? I may be busy with a client. Ping me at
eleven thirty or so."

9. Subject Line
• They are like Newspaper headlines.They should convey
main point of your e.mail.
Greetings
• Use some kind of greetings.Do not just start with your
text.
e.g. Dear Mr.Zubair,
• It is also becoming quite common to write the greeting
without a comma.
10. Endings
• Always end the message in polite way.Common endings
are
Yours sincerely, Best regards, etc
Names
• Includes your name at the end of your message.
