Total Physical Response
Kids don´t learn by memorizing lists; why
should we?
Language Teaching Method created by James
Asher based on the coordination of language and
physical movement.
Students respond with whole-body actions, similar
to MT development.
Grammar is NOT taught explicitly, but can be
learned from the input.
TPR is a valuable way to learn vocabulary and
have fun.
Total Physical Response
3 TPR hypotheses:
 Language is learned primarily by listening.
 Language learning should NOT involve any stress.
 It can ONLY be used with human beings of all ages,
especially from 2 to 100 years oldies.
Variety of some activities
