FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Dear reader,
At Lotus Valley International School, Noida, we believe that there is no substitute for
‘education through action’ and that exploring places, people, cultures, economic
opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and
completes the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to
create responsible global citizens and dynamic leaders by bringing the knowledge of
the world to the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world.
These two methods are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on
empathy, understanding, and international collaboration.
In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to France and Switzerland as a
part of an educational program. Our students visited several beautiful locations in these
Western European countries. To augment the broader program, we selected the Young
Authors Program, which ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student
Travel Review is an outcome of this collaborative and exploratory module. It captures
the entire journey in students’ own words and photographs. It even showcases their
learning from their active interaction with two of the world’s most enigmatic nations.
I would also like to recognise the efforts of EdTerra Edventures, a company that is well
aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular goals and developmental needs of students.
We acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educators.
Their professionalism made for an effortless, safe, and enriching travel experience for
our students and teachers.
Lastly, we extend a heartfelt thanks to the students, who participated in the program so
enthusiastically. Our willing learners had an enriching experience, the enduring benefits
of which they will reap all throughout their academic lives and careers. Each parent may
feel proud of this highly demonstrable publication that will keep reminding their wards
of their achievements and capabilities, all lifelong.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ruchi Seth
Principal
Lotus Valley International School, Noida
Dear reader,
An educational journey to foreign lands always induces learning and excitement among
young and inquisitive students. When the destination is as diverse as Western Europe,
one can only imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students would absorb and
construct learning out of the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures
and people of India and Europe.
For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge
through a meaningful encounter with new cultures, without diluting their fun and
excitement or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through
its Program Development Team (PDT), which comprises both Indian and international
experts. The PDT carefully designs culturally neutral projects that enable students to
meaningfully observe, record, and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed
through a process that encourages teamwork and meaningful discussions besides
recording observations through digital means, all of which is finally synthesised into a
media product that showcases the ideas and learning of the students.
This Student Travel Review, ‘France & Switzerland’ is one such media product that
captures the journey of learning of the students of Lotus Valley International School,
Noida. This book serves as a window into the marvels of France and Switzerland,
especially valuable for those students, peers, and parents who could not be a part of the
program. It showcases the intellectual and creative capacities of the students, the credit
for which is rightfully due to their parents and school. EdTerra Edventures would like to
thank Lotus Valley International School, Noida, for their efforts and support which made
this journey possible. We especially thank the Principal, Dr. Ruchi Seth, for guiding us.
EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers for being so dynamic and
enthusiastic. Their energy made our work easy, and more importantly, made for a more
memorable journey for the students. We encourage you to read and relive the learning
and adventures of these students through the words and photographs that follow.
Sincerely,
Amita Bajaj

OUR JOURNEY
Written and photographed by: Anshuman, Asmita, Dharshan, Ikjot, Khushi,
& Pranjal
We went for an educational trip to France and
Switzerland and it was an unforgettable journey.
First, we visited the iconic Louvre Museum where
we saw the mesmerising painting, Mona Lisa,
made by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503. There were
many other fascinating works of art displayed in
the museum.
Our next stop was one of the most beautiful
attractions of Paris — the Eiffel Tower. Our
experience of visiting the Eiffel Tower was
extraordinary. We also experienced light rains
during our visit, which added to the scenic beauty.
The city of Paris looked really spectacular from
the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Next, we
went to explore the famous Palace of Versailles.
It was truly amazing. The royal grandeur of the
majestic palace gave an insight into the lives of
French kings and queens.
Later, we went for a cruise on the Seine River.
After the cruise, all of us were soaking wet and
the breeze was very cool. We saw some brilliant
architecture of La Ville Lumière or the ‘City of
Light’. We thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the
cruise along with our friends.
We shopped in Dijon and packed to head towards
Geneva in Switzerland. Geneva is known for its
rich political legacy. It is the centre for a number
of international meetings and conferences. In
Geneva, we visited the United Nations Office and
learnt about the contribution of the UN towards
attaining world peace. We felt very inspired after
our visit to the UN Office.
Our next destination was a chocolate factory in
Zurich. Ourvisit to a chocolate factory was a treat
for all chocolate lovers. We got an opportunity
to see how chocolates are manufactured. Seeing
how the world’s most popular Swiss chocolates
were made proved to be an interesting learning
experience. We also got a chance to savour some
sweet delicacies.
Our next destination was Mount Titlis, which
is situated at a height of more than 10,000
ft above the sea level. The mountain-top was
beautiful and the atmosphere felt serene. All of
us were captivated by the natural beauty of that
place. We rode on the cable cars at Mount Titlis
and saw some splendid views of the Swiss Alps.
It was an exhilarating experience. From Mount
Titlis, we visited the city of Lucerne. In Lucerne,
we visited the Lion Monument and the Chapel
Bridge. We really enjoyed visiting both the places.
Our visit to France and Switzerland was a
memorable experience. We would like to thank
EdTerra Edventures for organising this journey.

OUR JOURNEY
PARIS

Bonjour, our visit to Paris was quite hectic, yet
enchanting. We liked visiting Paris for all the
reasons that it is known for. It is an incredibly
beautiful place. We started our journey by
visiting the world-renowned Eiffel Tower. The
Eiffel Tower is situated in the heart of Paris. It is
an iconic monument named after the engineer,
Gustave Eiffel, whose company accomplished
the design and construction of the Eiffel Tower
in 1889. It was the first building in the world to
reach the height of 300 metres. The Eiffel Tower
provides a panoramic view of the city and is a
good spot for clicking some photographs. Looking
at this splendid structure was a jaw-dropping
moment for each one of us. We stood in awe of
its magnificent beauty.
Our visit to the Louvre Museum was another
memorable experience of ourjourney. We explored
several galleries and observed numerous works of
art by some well-known painters and sculptors.
We also saw the Notre-Dame Cathedral in
Paris. It is a stunning example of Gothic style of
architecture.
We felt a bit tired while exploring various
landmarks of Paris but still continued with our
journey. Our next destination was Champs-
Élysées. It is one of the most popular avenues
of Paris where a large number of tourists visit
each day. The place was lively and bustling with
vigorous energy all around. We saw a number of
artists performing on the streets. We saw the
stores of some of the well-known international
luxury brands. At Champs-Élysées, we also tasted
some local delicacies such as flaky chocolate
croissants and macaroons. The desserts were so
delicious and mouth-watering.
In Paris, we also visited the Palace of Versailles
that looked magnificent. We took a walk around
the palace and learnt how the French monarchy
ruled from there. The museum inside the palace
displayed some exhibits that gave us a peek into
French history and culture at large.
Our visit to Paris was a wonderful experience.
During the journey, we not only enjoyed but also
learnt a lot. Travelling without our parents made
us responsible and relatively more aware about
our surroundings. We wish to conclude by stating
that one should explore the world and live life to
the fullest.

On our educational tour to Switzerland and
France, we visited Paris or the City of Lights.
Paris is also known as one of the fashion capitals
of the world. It is believed to be one of the most
expensive cities in the world to live in. Millions
of tourists visit this city every year. The city is
widely known for its vibrant culture and iconic
buildings. We visited several places in Paris all of
which were really beautiful.
First, we visited the Louvre Museum where we
saw some of the world’s most famous works
of art. While visiting the Louvre, we learnt that
earlier it was a fortress and a meeting place for
artists before it was converted into a museum
with a huge art-collection.
After observing some of the world’s most
spectacular paintings at the Louvre, we visited
the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is famous all
over the world. The huge tower is made of iron
and named after the French engineer, Gustave
Eiffel. When we reached there, we saw that it
was drizzling, however, the rain stopped after
some time. The weather cleared and we were
able to reach the second floor of the Eiffel Tower.
From a height, we saw a panoramic view of
Paris. The view was simply mesmerising. The city
looked so beautiful with all its dazzling lights. This
experience would always remain unforgettable.
On the second day of our stay in Paris, we went
for a cruise on the Seine River. On the cruise, we
spotted some beautiful structures that Paris is
widely renowned for. We also visited the Palace
of Versailles. The Palace of Versailles served as
the residence of Louis XIV in late 17th and early
18th centuries when he reigned in France. The
palace was rich in its grandeur providing valuable
information on the history of France. We enjoyed
exploring different parts of the palace along with
our friends and teachers.
We also visited Disneyland Paris, which seemed
so magical. It was a world full of fun and
adventure. We enjoyed several rides that include
Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Indiana Jones
and the Temple of Peril, and Buzz Lightyear Laser
Blast. There were many more exciting rides and
also a number of restaurants offering some great
menu options.
The days that we spent in Paris were the best and
we enjoyed to the fullest. We gained knowledge,
discovered new places, and made many new
friends. Au Revoir.

PARIS - A TOURIST DELIGHT
SWITZERLAND

Our educational trip began in Paris from where
we headed towards Switzerland. Our journey
to Switzerland started from the French city
of Dijon where we shopped for our friends and
family back home. We were really excited to
visit the beautiful country of Switzerland. It is
a landlocked country surrounded by France,
Italy, Austria, and Germany. It is known all over
the world for its chocolates and watches. We
had only seen its picturesque locations before
in movies and shows. We looked forward to
catching some breathtaking views of the Swiss
Alps and the lush green pastures.
In Switzerland, the first place that we visited
was Geneva. In Geneva, we visited the United
Nations Office, which was a very insightful
experience. Our visit to the UN Office helped
us to understand how representatives from
nations all over the world deliberate together to
pass laws and decide policies unanimously for
resolving global issues.
From Geneva, we went to Zurich. On our way to
Zurich, we went to a chocolate factory where
we learnt about the history of chocolate-
making — how it started from the production of
cocoa to the process of adding of sugar because
of its bitter taste. We also learnt about how
Switzerland became one of the largest producers
of chocolates and how Swiss chocolates acquired
worldwide fame.
The most amazing part of our trip was visiting
the Mount Titlis. It was the first time in our lives
that we rode on the cable car. The weather was
very cold. It was fun to play in the snow along
with our friends. We made snowballs and threw
them at each other, which was really enjoyable.
We clicked many photographs to capture those
beautiful moments and create some wonderful
memories of our journey. We also bought some
souvenirs from the local shops.
Overall, our trip was a fascinating experience. We
visited so many places of tourist interest both
in France and Switzerland. We learnt about the
rich history, art, and culture of Europe. We made
many new friends, saw beautiful mountains and
lakes on our way, and enjoyed ourselves a lot.

factory. This trip bought me closer to my students and I observed new facets of their
personalities. I would like to thank my School Principal, Dr. Ruchi Seth, for selecting
me to go on this memorable trip. It will remain etched in my mind for a long time.

This trip was one of the most cherished experiences of my life. This trip gave me
several enriching experiences — travelling, visiting beautiful places, meeting new
people, getting to eat European delicacies, and so on. Our Journey Mentor, Sumant
Sir, was extremely patient with children. We learnt so much about the history of
Europe. We saw some spectacular views of the European countryside on the bus
journeys from one place to another. I would like to thank our Principal for placing her
trust in me to lead this group on this amazing tour.

  • 4. FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK Dear reader, At Lotus Valley International School, Noida, we believe that there is no substitute for ‘education through action’ and that exploring places, people, cultures, economic opportunities, and technological advancements through travel, complements and completes the educational experience. This philosophy matches our endeavour to create responsible global citizens and dynamic leaders by bringing the knowledge of the world to the classroom as well as encouraging students to go out into the world. These two methods are critical to create the three pillars of global citizenship based on empathy, understanding, and international collaboration. In line with this mission, our students recently journeyed to France and Switzerland as a part of an educational program. Our students visited several beautiful locations in these Western European countries. To augment the broader program, we selected the Young Authors Program, which ensured students’ engagement and immersion. This Student Travel Review is an outcome of this collaborative and exploratory module. It captures the entire journey in students’ own words and photographs. It even showcases their learning from their active interaction with two of the world’s most enigmatic nations. I would also like to recognise the efforts of EdTerra Edventures, a company that is well aware of co-curricular and extra-curricular goals and developmental needs of students. We acknowledge the contribution of their staff, especially their on-journey educators. Their professionalism made for an effortless, safe, and enriching travel experience for our students and teachers. Lastly, we extend a heartfelt thanks to the students, who participated in the program so enthusiastically. Our willing learners had an enriching experience, the enduring benefits of which they will reap all throughout their academic lives and careers. Each parent may feel proud of this highly demonstrable publication that will keep reminding their wards of their achievements and capabilities, all lifelong. Sincerely, Dr. Ruchi Seth Principal Lotus Valley International School, Noida
  • 5. Dear reader, An educational journey to foreign lands always induces learning and excitement among young and inquisitive students. When the destination is as diverse as Western Europe, one can only imagine the myriad ways in which Indian students would absorb and construct learning out of the many differences and similarities that mark the cultures and people of India and Europe. For EdTerra, an educational journey is about enabling students to construct knowledge through a meaningful encounter with new cultures, without diluting their fun and excitement or restricting their wandering, curious minds. EdTerra achieves this through its Program Development Team (PDT), which comprises both Indian and international experts. The PDT carefully designs culturally neutral projects that enable students to meaningfully observe, record, and articulate their impressions. These tools are deployed through a process that encourages teamwork and meaningful discussions besides recording observations through digital means, all of which is finally synthesised into a media product that showcases the ideas and learning of the students. This Student Travel Review, ‘France & Switzerland’ is one such media product that captures the journey of learning of the students of Lotus Valley International School, Noida. This book serves as a window into the marvels of France and Switzerland, especially valuable for those students, peers, and parents who could not be a part of the program. It showcases the intellectual and creative capacities of the students, the credit for which is rightfully due to their parents and school. EdTerra Edventures would like to thank Lotus Valley International School, Noida, for their efforts and support which made this journey possible. We especially thank the Principal, Dr. Ruchi Seth, for guiding us. EdTerra would also like to thank the accompanying teachers for being so dynamic and enthusiastic. Their energy made our work easy, and more importantly, made for a more memorable journey for the students. We encourage you to read and relive the learning and adventures of these students through the words and photographs that follow. Sincerely, Amita Bajaj Editor, Students Publication LETTER FROM EDTERRA

  • 10. OUR JOURNEY Written and photographed by: Anshuman, Asmita, Dharshan, Ikjot, Khushi, & Pranjal We went for an educational trip to France and Switzerland and it was an unforgettable journey. First, we visited the iconic Louvre Museum where we saw the mesmerising painting, Mona Lisa, made by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503. There were many other fascinating works of art displayed in the museum. Our next stop was one of the most beautiful attractions of Paris — the Eiffel Tower. Our experience of visiting the Eiffel Tower was extraordinary. We also experienced light rains during our visit, which added to the scenic beauty. The city of Paris looked really spectacular from the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Next, we went to explore the famous Palace of Versailles. It was truly amazing. The royal grandeur of the majestic palace gave an insight into the lives of French kings and queens. Later, we went for a cruise on the Seine River. After the cruise, all of us were soaking wet and the breeze was very cool. We saw some brilliant architecture of La Ville Lumière or the ‘City of Light’. We thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the cruise along with our friends. We shopped in Dijon and packed to head towards Geneva in Switzerland. Geneva is known for its rich political legacy. It is the centre for a number of international meetings and conferences. In Geneva, we visited the United Nations Office and learnt about the contribution of the UN towards attaining world peace. We felt very inspired after our visit to the UN Office. Our next destination was a chocolate factory in Zurich. Ourvisit to a chocolate factory was a treat for all chocolate lovers. We got an opportunity to see how chocolates are manufactured. Seeing how the world’s most popular Swiss chocolates were made proved to be an interesting learning experience. We also got a chance to savour some sweet delicacies. Our next destination was Mount Titlis, which is situated at a height of more than 10,000 ft above the sea level. The mountain-top was beautiful and the atmosphere felt serene. All of us were captivated by the natural beauty of that place. We rode on the cable cars at Mount Titlis and saw some splendid views of the Swiss Alps. It was an exhilarating experience. From Mount Titlis, we visited the city of Lucerne. In Lucerne, we visited the Lion Monument and the Chapel Bridge. We really enjoyed visiting both the places. Our visit to France and Switzerland was a memorable experience. We would like to thank EdTerra Edventures for organising this journey. 07

  • 18. PARIS Written and photographed by: Bhavika, Kashvi, Mannat, Parth, Preet, & Saanika Bonjour, our visit to Paris was quite hectic, yet enchanting. We liked visiting Paris for all the reasons that it is known for. It is an incredibly beautiful place. We started our journey by visiting the world-renowned Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is situated in the heart of Paris. It is an iconic monument named after the engineer, Gustave Eiffel, whose company accomplished the design and construction of the Eiffel Tower in 1889. It was the first building in the world to reach the height of 300 metres. The Eiffel Tower provides a panoramic view of the city and is a good spot for clicking some photographs. Looking at this splendid structure was a jaw-dropping moment for each one of us. We stood in awe of its magnificent beauty. Our visit to the Louvre Museum was another memorable experience of ourjourney. We explored several galleries and observed numerous works of art by some well-known painters and sculptors. We also saw the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. It is a stunning example of Gothic style of architecture. We felt a bit tired while exploring various landmarks of Paris but still continued with our journey. Our next destination was Champs- Élysées. It is one of the most popular avenues of Paris where a large number of tourists visit each day. The place was lively and bustling with vigorous energy all around. We saw a number of artists performing on the streets. We saw the stores of some of the well-known international luxury brands. At Champs-Élysées, we also tasted some local delicacies such as flaky chocolate croissants and macaroons. The desserts were so delicious and mouth-watering. In Paris, we also visited the Palace of Versailles that looked magnificent. We took a walk around the palace and learnt how the French monarchy ruled from there. The museum inside the palace displayed some exhibits that gave us a peek into French history and culture at large. Our visit to Paris was a wonderful experience. During the journey, we not only enjoyed but also learnt a lot. Travelling without our parents made us responsible and relatively more aware about our surroundings. We wish to conclude by stating that one should explore the world and live life to the fullest. 15

  • 26. PARIS - A TOURIST DELIGHT Written and photographed by: Aashka, Palak, Krrish, Nataliya, Pranay, & Rudraksh On our educational tour to Switzerland and France, we visited Paris or the City of Lights. Paris is also known as one of the fashion capitals of the world. It is believed to be one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in. Millions of tourists visit this city every year. The city is widely known for its vibrant culture and iconic buildings. We visited several places in Paris all of which were really beautiful. First, we visited the Louvre Museum where we saw some of the world’s most famous works of art. While visiting the Louvre, we learnt that earlier it was a fortress and a meeting place for artists before it was converted into a museum with a huge art-collection. After observing some of the world’s most spectacular paintings at the Louvre, we visited the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is famous all over the world. The huge tower is made of iron and named after the French engineer, Gustave Eiffel. When we reached there, we saw that it was drizzling, however, the rain stopped after some time. The weather cleared and we were able to reach the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. From a height, we saw a panoramic view of Paris. The view was simply mesmerising. The city looked so beautiful with all its dazzling lights. This experience would always remain unforgettable. On the second day of our stay in Paris, we went for a cruise on the Seine River. On the cruise, we spotted some beautiful structures that Paris is widely renowned for. We also visited the Palace of Versailles. The Palace of Versailles served as the residence of Louis XIV in late 17th and early 18th centuries when he reigned in France. The palace was rich in its grandeur providing valuable information on the history of France. We enjoyed exploring different parts of the palace along with our friends and teachers. We also visited Disneyland Paris, which seemed so magical. It was a world full of fun and adventure. We enjoyed several rides that include Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. There were many more exciting rides and also a number of restaurants offering some great menu options. The days that we spent in Paris were the best and we enjoyed to the fullest. We gained knowledge, discovered new places, and made many new friends. Au Revoir. 23

  • 34. SWITZERLAND Written and photographed by: Anuraag, Samaira, Shagun, Shaurya, Ujjawal, & Vridhi Our educational trip began in Paris from where we headed towards Switzerland. Our journey to Switzerland started from the French city of Dijon where we shopped for our friends and family back home. We were really excited to visit the beautiful country of Switzerland. It is a landlocked country surrounded by France, Italy, Austria, and Germany. It is known all over the world for its chocolates and watches. We had only seen its picturesque locations before in movies and shows. We looked forward to catching some breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps and the lush green pastures. In Switzerland, the first place that we visited was Geneva. In Geneva, we visited the United Nations Office, which was a very insightful experience. Our visit to the UN Office helped us to understand how representatives from nations all over the world deliberate together to pass laws and decide policies unanimously for resolving global issues. From Geneva, we went to Zurich. On our way to Zurich, we went to a chocolate factory where we learnt about the history of chocolate- making — how it started from the production of cocoa to the process of adding of sugar because of its bitter taste. We also learnt about how Switzerland became one of the largest producers of chocolates and how Swiss chocolates acquired worldwide fame. The most amazing part of our trip was visiting the Mount Titlis. It was the first time in our lives that we rode on the cable car. The weather was very cold. It was fun to play in the snow along with our friends. We made snowballs and threw them at each other, which was really enjoyable. We clicked many photographs to capture those beautiful moments and create some wonderful memories of our journey. We also bought some souvenirs from the local shops. Overall, our trip was a fascinating experience. We visited so many places of tourist interest both in France and Switzerland. We learnt about the rich history, art, and culture of Europe. We made many new friends, saw beautiful mountains and lakes on our way, and enjoyed ourselves a lot. 31

  • 37. 34 SWITZERLAND 5 South of Bern and Lucerne and east of Lake Geneva, we were mesmerised to see the beauty of Swiss Alps characterised by high peaks and lush meadows
  • 38. 35 Visiting the United Nations Office at Geneva — the focal point for multilateral diplomacy 5 SWITZERLAND 5 On our way to a ride on Titlis Rotair and get a panoramic view of Alpine peaks, sheer rock faces, and an ice-crevasse glacier
  • 39. 36 5 The Swiss chocolate industry is huge — we learnt that it employs 4,500 people and has an annual turnover of 1.8 billion Swiss francs Awaiting a mind-blowing sensory experience — we wondered how Swiss chocolates taste right after they are freshly and at the manufacturing unit 5 SWITZERLAND

It will remain etched in my mind for a long time. TEACHERS Komal Sharma This trip was one of the most cherished experiences of my life. This trip gave me several enriching experiences — travelling, visiting beautiful places, meeting new people, getting to eat European delicacies, and so on. Our Journey Mentor, Sumant Sir, was extremely patient with children. We learnt so much about the history of Europe. We saw some spectacular views of the European countryside on the bus journeys from one place to another.
