E-waste management is important because electronic and electric products nearing their end of life, called e-waste, pose threats to human health and the environment if not properly disposed of. E-waste must be managed to prevent pollution of groundwater, acidification of soil, and emission of toxic fumes and gases. The government, industries, and citizens all have responsibilities in e-waste management - the government establishes laws and regulations, industries implement management options and labeling to assist recycling, and citizens choose more sustainable electronic products.
