Butterfly valves are widely used in hydro power plants to regulate and control the flow
through hydraulic turbines. That’s why it is important to design the valve in such a way that it can give
best performance so that optimum efficiency can be achieved in hydraulic power plants. Conventionally
that the models of large size valves are straight in the laboratory to determine their performance
characteristics. This is a time consuming and costly process. High computing facility along with the use
of numerical techniques can give the solution to any fluid flow problem in a lesser time. In this research
work flow analysis through butterfly valve with aspect ratio 1/3 has been performed using
computational software. For modelling the valve ICEM CFD 12 has been used. Valve characteristics
such as flow coefficient and head loss coefficient has been determined using CFX 12 for different valve
opening angle as 30°,60°,75°, and 90° (taking 90°as full opening of the valve) for incompressible fluid.
Value of head loss coefficient obtained from numerical analysis has been compared with the
experimental results.

Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.

introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating

• Barriers, fluid contacts
• Radius of investigation

the drill string .

friction effects.

and completion operations may influence the results.

- open hole Drill Stem Testing (DST) based on conventional
technology with mechanically set packer was gradually replaced by
inflatable packer based DST tools
Disadvantages of open hole:-
- some companies still avoid open hole testing based result of:
1-poor success ratios of outdated conventional tools.
2-wireline formation testing has become more frequent due to
advances made in wireline test tools.
Advantages of open hole:-
1-lower cost of the open hole DST service compared to wireline formation
testing.
2-Open hole DSTs are quick and simple to run.
3-Hydrocarbons do not need to be produced to the surface, but a significant
volume of reservoir fluid can be produced
Types of DST tools depend on the testing well completion either CASED
and OPEN hole
6. There is three major methods to analysis the (DST)
data:-
◆ Horner’s plot method
◆ Type curve matching method
◆ Computer matching (DST)
8. ●Type curves first appeared in oil industry literature in the seventies.
●Several kinds, as listed below, are used to interpret a test in a vertical
well with an infinite homogeneous reservoir:
–Ramey Agarwal et al. type curves
–McKinley type curves
–Earlougher and Kersch type curves
–Gringarten et al. type curves

versus time for a specified reservoir‐well
configuration.
• It is calculated using an analytic model and
expressed in dimensionless variables.

tp(n‐1) duration of the last production period before shut‐in.
•If these conditions do not exist, using the types directly may lead to
inaccurate results.
