Bacillus Anthracis:
1. Introduction
a) Bacillus anthracis is a gram positive, rod shaped, aerobic bacterium, that presents its self in long
chains (Todar). It is 1 × 2 μm in size and contains no flagella or pilli (Spencer). Although, B. anthracis
is non motile, it does undergo the process of sporulation (Spencer). These spores are typically oval
shaped and found in soil (Todar). In virulent strains of B. anthracis, a slime layer or capsule forms to
protect the bacterium from dangers in the environment, such as antibiotics (Spencer). B. anthracis
produces a toxin that consists of three factors, which includes ... Show more content on

b) More commonly, anthrax is found in regions of the Caribbean, Southern and Eastern Europe,
Central and Southern Asia, Central and South American, and some parts of Africa (CDC).
5. How is it spread or transmitted?
a) In animals, they become infected by inhaling or ingesting the spores from contaminated soil or
water (CDC).
b) Humans can be infected once one s body encounters an anthrax endospore. Spores enter the body
and become active, once they have become active the bacteria can multiply (CDC). The endospores
can enter the body in many different ways, such as inhalation, ingestion, a cut on the skin, or even
being injected.
6. What are the symptoms (CDC)
a) Cutaneous Anthrax
i. Small blisters or bumps on skin that may itch ii. Swelling might be present around bilster iii. A skin
sore or ulcer with a black center appears after the blister or bumps, characterized with no pain. iv. Sore
is usually located on the hands, arms, neck or face.
b) Inhalation Anthrax (CDC)
i. Fever along with chills, body aches ii. Chest Discomfort iii. Shortness of breah iv. Dizziness and
confusion
v. Cough vi. Nausea, vomiting and or stomach pains vii. Headache and extreme tiredness viii. Sweats

Introduction to the Mining Industry
The mining sector is made up of organisations whose primary activity is the extraction of naturally
occurring mineral solids or natural resources. Examples of these types of minerals are coal, ores and
precious stones. The mining industry also broadly covers quarrying and well operations. The sector
comprises two basic activities: mine operations and mining support activities.
Mine operations involve setting up the mine, quarry or well for the organization, or on behalf of
another organization for a small fee.
Mining support activities are those operations that must be carried out before mining begins;
exploration and other services (except site preparation and construction of oil/gas pipelines).
The mining and metal industry is made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore there will always be a demand for mining products. There are not too many competitors as
certain materials can only be mined in specific areas.
Supplier power
Supplier power is quite high in mining as most of the worlds mines are owned, or part owned, by three
of the largest mining companies in the world; Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Anglo American.
Also, as mining is one of the primary activities, there are not many suppliers. The only possible
exception is that of the machinery suppliers, but since this is so specialized, they will have little power
over the huge multinational corporations that are the mining companies. The suppliers of mining
equipment, for example Caterpillar, have little power because contracts with mining companies go in
to millions of dollars and those who supply equipment don t want to lose any potential customers.
Threat of entry
In the mining industry the treat of entry is very small this is due to the extensive capital needed in
order to start operating a mine.
Costs include:
Training of employers and staff.
A strong team of well paid engineers, scientists and managers.
The cost of the machinery.
Maintenance costs.
Propriety costs

Essay about Christian Teaching on Wealth and Poverty
Coursework
(a) (i) Outline Christian teaching on wealth and poverty.
Christians do not think money is a bad thing. However, they believe the way money is earned and
used is the issue. Most Christians believe that wealth is a gift from God to benefit others. Christians
believe that all money belongs to God and he gives them stewardship of his money to use wisely. The
Bible teaches, You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24). For Christians this means that
they must be careful not to replace their love for God with the love of money. Christian teaching on
wealth and possessions varies slightly regarding the amount of money and possessions that should be
given to the poor. Some Christians follow the teaching in (Mark ... Show more content on

(Luke 10:25 37). Jesus taught this so that Christians would treat everyone the way that they would
want to be treated. In Luke 6:20 26, Jesus said. That the poor were special to him and that their
suffering would be rewarded in heaven. He also went on to say, The rich who ignored the suffering of
the poor would be punished. One of Jesus most important teachings on poverty was in Matthew 25:31
46. To the affect Jesus said Whenever you help anyone in need you are helping me. Christians believe
that when they help someone they are helping Jesus and that they will be rewarded for it. These are the
main Christian teachings on wealth and poverty.
(a) (ii) Explain why there is a need for world development.
The worlds countries are split up into three factions: developed countries, less economically
developed countries, (LEDCs), and the countries in between these two extremes. The majority of the
countries in the North Hemisphere of the world are developed countries. Developed countries have an
average annual income of above $9000. An example of a developed country is Great Britain. The
majority of countries in the Southern Hemisphere are LEDCs. The average annual income for these
countries is below $750. The countries in between are developing countries. Their average annual
income is between $750 9000. There are many reasons why there are such differences between

How Does Oscar Wilde Use Humor In The Importance Of Being...
A good laugh can assist difficult matters to appear less ominous. Retrieving that laughter enhances the
artier of the playwright, weaving one word after another between the lines of the script. This
humorous approach sanctions the disarmament of inhibitions plus defensives, crafting a story that still
provides an important message. In The importance of being Earnest author Oscar Wilde uses theories
of comedy and comic devices adding to the theatrics of the absurdities of the social class of the era.

Personal versus Public Poetry
Personal vs. Public Poets write poetry to express their inner thoughts and views. In Seamus Heaney s
poem From the Frontier of Writing, Heaney describes how the publics react to his poetry. Heaney does
this by portraying the process of going through a military transport. Heaney shows a conflict between
his inner thoughts and the public s reactions to them. This creates tension between the personal and
the public. Throughout this poem, Heaney portrays the process of going through a military transport.
He makes the reader feel as if they are the ones going through the process by his use of you, your, and
you re throughout the poem. Heaney tries to use this poem to show the reader his feeling towards the
media and critic of his poetry. Heaney uses images of hostility by the soldiers in stanzas 1 6 to express
how he feels when someone criticizes or reads his poem. Heaney faces readers and critics inspecting
his poetry such as, troops inspect [the car s] make and number (Heaney, line 2 3). Heaney feels as if
the critiques are marksmen, training down out of the sun upon [him] like a hawk, (Heaney, lines17
18). Heaney fears of judgment as the critiques, eyeing with intent, inspect his poem (Heaney, line 5).
In the last two stanzas, there is a shift in tone as Heaney feels that the critics and readers are gone.
Suddenly, Heaney feels, arraigned yet freed, as he finally passes through the soldiers or critics
(Heaney, line 19). This shows the relief he feels when

The Battle Of The Roman Republic
As the Roman Republic found its way into the third and second centuries BC, it could not have
anticipated its level of military engagement nor the number of conflicts it would find itself in over the
next two hundred years. A series of wars allowed the Roman Republic to consolidate power on the
Italian peninsula, emerge as a major force in the Mediterranean area, and lay the groundwork for what
eventually would become the Empire. The series of wars Rome fought had profound impacts on the
political, economic, social and cultural areas of Roman life. Ultimately Rome would emerge as a
powerhouse city with a thriving political system within it, dominate the economic situation in the
region before extending further, and saw the dramatic change of Roman society as it experienced a
cultural influx from foreigners. The series of wars in response to Pyrrhus invasion and the rebellion of
Italian tribes would ultimately lead to the unification of the Republic on the peninsula, as well as
secure a period of reprieve from foreign invasion forces. The recently defeated Samnite tribe in central
Italy resented Roman control and when tensions between the Tarentines and Romans escalated, they
would play a major role in the civil unrest and eventual war. The Romans decision to develop a navy
was met with harsh and immediate response from Tarentum, who also called upon King Pyrrhus of
Epirus to help them engage the Roman forces. Despite his superb and fairly large invasion force, the

Indi The Architecture Of Community
1. Introduction
A City is not an accident but the result of coherent vision and aims.
Leon Krier, The Architecture of Community
India is moving towards fast paced economic growth. After India entered Open Market Operations
under the leadership of Prime Minister P.V. Narsimha Rao, economic policies endured lots of
opportunities for foreign direct investment further offering people new windows of employment and
growth of the nation overall. In the reports of McKinsey s India s Urban awakening, it has been
mentioned that many countries are facing problems of aging population whereas India comparatively
has a young and growing population which is a potential demographic advantage . For this advantage
to work wonders, India needs urban centers with better transportation, infrastructural facilities and
housing. In the very same report of McKinsey, it said that the urban economy will provide 85 percent
of total revenue, which will finance development nationwide . Thus report of McKinsey indirectly
states that cities are the engines of growth, hence with better transportation system and infrastructure
the urban development will enhance at a faster pace.
Public transportation takes a special place in city s smooth functioning, since it offers mobility and
access to people in accomplishing their daily tasks. Technological advancement and rise in incomes
have made people to rely more on private mode of transport due to poor services by public transport
agencies in India.

Why I Want To Be A Bartender Essay
Life as a bartender, all started when I was stationed in Germany in 1997. I went to the NCO club at
lunch time, after work, and on weekends to play the slots machines, until the club section for dancing
opened. Nonetheless, being at the club constantly made people asked me if I worked there. It made
sense to me to work, have fun, and get paid. I love to be surrounded by all different types of people.
Positions were needed to be filled, so I applied for the bartender position. Everyone knew me by
name.
Since I was in the military, permission from my Commander and supervisor was need. My supervisor
SFC Weathersby vouched for me to Captain Sorenton assuring that my bartender duties would not
interfere with my military duties as a Soldier. SFC Weathersby verified that if it interfered with my
military whatsoever, that I would relinquish my job at the NCO club immediately. ... Show more

Reverend Dimmesdale s Slip In The Scarlet Letter
Reverend Dimmesdale s Slip Oh how the mighty fall. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s THE SCARLET
LETTER we see this man of God, this mighty Reverend who was viewed in an almost aristocratic
way plunge head deep into a pit of guilt and self pity, because he is scared to admit he is Hester s
secret lover, and our good reverend eventually drives himself mad with sorrow and meets his end.
This can be confirmed by a line for a paper written about Dimmesdale s feelings throughout the book
Dimmesdale alone knows that he is the man signified by this A for adultery and A for Arthur. This
scarlet letter is indeed a letter, an item of private correspondence between lovers (Valenti, 10). WE

He becomes demonic and is tempted to do some strange, wild, wicked thing or other, at once in
violation of his nature and emanating from some unknown and profounder part of it (CE 1:217).
Anticipating Freud s view of the mind an unconscious of sexual, aggressive, and otherwise tabooed
impulses precariously restrained by a socialized conscience Hawthorne writes of a total change of
dynasty and moral code in Dimmesdale s interior kingdom (CE 1:217). His ruling superego has been
dethroned, and unconscious forces formerly held in check by conscience and will are unleashed and
seize control. Within his own mental universe, Dimmesdale has indeed, as he fears, sold himself to the

Family Reunion Forms Teams At A Young Age
Schools, organizations, and even family reunion forms teams. Children are taught at a young age to be
team players and many parents engage their children in sports activity to learn this skill. Even children
shows through the years consist of teams from Ninja Turtles, Avengers to the old school children
shows such as Scooby Doo and Super Friends. These children shows typically provide kids lessons
and hidden messages about team work and their victory against the villains. Organizations may not
necessarily have to battle villains in order to be successful, but they do have obstacles to overcome to
be able to work together. It is also important to have an initial understanding of the types of issues that
a team face that prevents them from performing as a cohesive group. It starts with identifying the
organizational vision, its goals before leaders identify the right employees for the job. Recruiting,
attracting and retaining the right players may pose a challenge of its own; however, all can be done
with the right planning. Socializing the team through the right team building activities will enhance
the team s relationship and understanding towards a cohesive relationship. Most importantly is to align
the vision and employees objectives to provide employees the appropriate feedback for growth and
success of the team. Feedback and performance measurement will also allow the leader to reward and
recognize the team s top performers. Appropriate reward and recognition

TED Talk Summative Reflection The beginning of a presentation is what must grab the audience s

definitely could have improved the interest factor of my video. My introduction is a simple title
animation going into my presentation, and my introduction is a very basic overview of what my
presentation will be covering. Looking back on the example given and at other students videos, I
realize some music and a hook could have been very helpful. A hook is especially important because it
gets the audience excited for what s coming, and I notice now that my opening lines are pretty tame.

Perhaps higher quality images that backed up my points, even if there were fewer of them, would have
been the better choice. I think my visual aids complimented my audio component, but they could have
been more in depth representations of my talking points as a whole. Finally, it comes to my oral
presentation skills. I would say I have average ability to communicate orally, which I hoped to
improve by splitting up my speech into different sections. I recorded each of these separately,
sometimes recording seven or eight takes, for the sake of cutting out most stumbles and producing the
best quality video I could. However, I think I still could have improved. There a few mistakes which I
left in, and could have redone if I d had better time management skills. I was unsure about how
expressive to be, as my video was half me talking and half narration. I tried to be reserved and easy to
understand, but I think going bigger and being more animated would have helped keep my video
interesting and fun to watch. Re watching myself speak made me realize that I

Analysis Of Sisterhood Is Complicated By Ruth Padawer
Every person deserves the right to experience a sense of community amongst people who share a
common characteristic. A sense of fellowship amongst similar people allows a person to become more
comfortable with who they are through interactions with others who are going through or have gone
through the same triumphs or hardships. Without this feeling of belonging, one could be driven into
insanity. Anxiety due to isolation and desolation could run rampant through a person s mind because
of the loneliness that comes with a lack of community making it an essential part of a humanhood. By
definition however, community invites inimitability. Community can be defined as a group of unique
individuals with shared characteristics. From that a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Does It Affect Job Stratification And Economic...
Each year, millions of babies are born into families, not yet knowing what their lives will bring.
Babies are born as male or female, as well as transgendered, bisexual, gay and lesbian. All are born
into different racial and ethnic backgrounds, some of which are White, African, Asian, Hispanic,
Chinese and many more. Born into a class or cast systems unknowing of the challenges yet to come
and the stratifications they will face. No matter which factors these babies may be born into, each and
every one will face some sort of stratification and inequality based on their society, and the way they
are raised within it. Sexual orientation is just one factor of inequality in our culture, and I will discuss
here how it affects job stratification and economic placement.
Social stratification can be viewed in one of three ways, first is structural functional which is based on
a society which is rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments. This theory believes that inequality
boost economy, pushing people to work harder. Next we have social conflict which looks at society as
being divided based on resources and ownership. This theory looks at unequal rewards as creating
inequality and placing a divide in society. Weber looked at this in terms of socioeconomic status
ranking people based on their inequalities. Last is symbolic interaction a micro level view of society
which looks at ones interactions in everyday life. This looks at the things we purchase, what we wear

How Has Camelot Changed
The musical Camelot was based off of the legend of King Arthur. Two ways the economics of
producing Broadway musicals changed by the 1960s were that musicals had gotten larger so they cost
more to produce and that it took a long time to break even. The rise in ticket prices outpaced inflation.
Broadway tried to lure in customers by adopting some of the marketing techniques like television
commercials and promotional packages. Hollywood got rid of its self imposing production code. This
allowed things like adult language, adult themes, sex, and violence to be put into the movies that
Hollywood produced. By the beginning of the 1970s, film had become the medium through which
performing artists were commenting on currant events. Films

Lean Management Is A Method Of Running A Business
According to (Rouse, 2013), lean management is a method of running a business that supports the
concept of constant improvement. Therefore, lean management is a long term approach to work that
thoroughly seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency
and quality. The theory was first established between 1948 and 1975 by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo
Shingo the two Japanese engineers (Arnheiter and Maleyeff, 2005). But the method was initially
found in the works of Henry Ford, who Ohno greatly appreciated and studied Ford because of his
accomplishments and the reduction of waste at early Ford assembly plants (Arnheiter and Maleyeff,
2005). Thus Lean management eliminates all forms of waste, decreasing errors, shrinking inventory
and ordering or supplying parts just in time, therefore decreasing warehousing costs. (Rand, 2013)
identified the seven forms of waste, including waste in unnecessary motion, over processing and
transportation. Thus by doing this it will saves the business money and allows workers to pay attention
to more value creating activities. There are four main principles of lean which are (Rouse, 2013)
firstly defining the value from the perspective of the end customer, identifying each steps in a business
process and eliminating non value activities, making the value creating steps occur in tight sequence
and then finally repeating the first three steps on a constantly basis until all the waste has been
eliminated. The

How To Eat In Ancient Ghana How to eat in ancient Ghana. The Ancient Ghana civilization lasted
from about 300 1200 A.D.. The Ancient country lies in Western Africa where the modern countries of
Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal are today (Kingdom of Ghana). The people of Ghana ate what they
could provide by farming. They farmed crops such as corn and rice. The Niger river ,which cut across
ancient Ghana, flooded like the Nile during the rainy season bringing water and nutrients to their
fields (Social Aspects of Ancient Ghana) . They raised animals such as Goats, chickens, and sheep to
eat. The people mostly ate several different types of soup with fufu, plantain, bread, rice, and potatoes.
The soups were nut based with different meats such as fish, mutton, goat, or chicken added (Ancient
Ghana Environment). Fufu is the african equivalent to mashed potatoes. It normally accompanies soup
or a meat with gravy. Fufu is rolled up into balls then a indenture is made. It is then used to scoop up
soup or gravy. In Central Africa Fufu is made out of cassava tubers (Fufu). Cassava tubers are starchy
roots from the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae) of plants (Cassava Nutrition Facts and Health Benefits).

Media s Role in Anorexia
Media s Role in Anorexia Many individual s today would argue that most health problems develop
from media. For example, the Modeling Industry is mainly nothing but tall and very slender women.
Most would agree that adolescent females see the size of most models and assume that is what is
considered beauty. Media does not promote anorexia to distort women s body images. Most women
that starve themselves do not do it because of television, movies, or magazines, etc. They starve
themselves to make them feel better and to uplift their self esteem. Media does not play a role in
anorexia because of three main reasons: environmental factors, exercising, and dieting. One reason
media does not play a role in anorexia is because of environmental factors. Howard Steiger, the
director of the eating disorders program at McGill University, research has shown that Eating
disorders are a product of epigenetics . . . (Cresswell 1). This means that not everyone is susceptible to
the eating disorder of anorexia, and that it is a genetic disorder. Steiger also continued to say, People
do not develop eating disorders because they are . . . weak willed, but because they carry measurable
susceptibilities that may or may not be activated by various pressures in the environment (Cresswell
1). Many people and parents often wonder What did I do wrong? when in actuality it has nothing to do
with them and we now have evidence and facts to prove that. However, on the other hand, Judy Siegel

Essay about Discrimination Against the Deaf Culture
The deaf community does not see their hearing impairment as a disability but as a culture which
includes a history of discrimination, racial prejudice, and segregation. According to an online
transcript, Through Deaf Eyes (Weta and Florentine films/Hott productions Inc., 2007) there are thirty
five million Americans that are hard of hearing. Out of the thirty five million an estimated 300,000
people are completely deaf. There are ninety percent of deaf people who have hearing parents
(Halpern, C., 1996). Also, most deaf parents have hearing children. With this being the

According to an online journal by Carla A. Halpern, in 1817, a Connecticut clergyman named Thomas
Hopkins Gallaudet, opened the first permanent school for the deaf in Hartford (Halpern, C., 1996).
This deaf school was for American children which only had seven students and a head teacher by the
name of Laurent Clerc. Clec was from the Paris Institution for the Deaf and had been deaf since
infancy. He bought to the United States a nonverbal form of communication known as French sign
language (Halpern, C., 1996). The technique that Clerc taught was by the use of his hands, which he
communicated with French sign language, blended with a bit of signs used by students in the United
States. To Gallaudet the language was a inspiration which he called it, Highly poetical (Weta and
Florentine films/Hott productions Inc., 2007), but to Clerc and many of the deaf people, the using of
sign was natural and useful. This was a result of a created acculturated nonverbal language known as

First, the Moderating Role of Openness to Experience, meaning that open individuals tend to enact or

and when open ness is low, task conflict will negatively relate to performance. Second, The
Moderating Role of Emotional Stability, in other words the tendency an individual has to be

Othello Prejudice And Prejudice
Discrimination At It s Finest
Racism and Sexism are two extremely prominent problems that have been occurring for many years.
Many people are prejudice towards others who are not the same as them. Today we have come very
far in order to limit discrimination, although there are still many places and people that are sexist and
racist. In the three texts I read this term Othello, Snow Falling on Cedars and Goodnight Desdemona
(Good Morning Juliet) there is a direct link to either racism, sexism or even both. These texts were all
set in past times except for Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) which had components of
the story that were set in today s time. We are going to explore the similarities of discrimination

on Desdemona s character. Academe believes that you re a doomed and helpless victim. (2.2).
Constance tells Desdemona this and instantly Desdemona is enraged by the fact people think this of
her. We are exposed to a side of Desdemona in this play that we may have not picked up on entirely in
Othello. Constance opens our eyes to the fact that Desdemona is a strong and capable character and
not the innocent and helpless character that she is made out to seem. You are magnificent! Othello
should make you his lieutenant. You re capable of greatness, Desdemona. (2,2). Because Desdemona
is never given a real voice in Othello her character is watered down and her true colours are not
shown. Readers are sexist against Desdemona because she is a woman and in those times women were
considered to be much less powerful and important than men. Constance Ledbelly is also taken
advantage of because she is a woman by her superior, Professor

Negative Effects Of The Fur Trade
The fur trade was damaging to most First Nations. The fur trade began with good intention and

Rivalries began to form between various First Nations. There was tension due to the fur trade, as every
First Nation was profiting differently, and trading with varying people and nations. After twenty years

French Woods Narrative
My final night at French Woods Festival, the arts camp I attended for three summers, my bunk
decided to stay up long past our curfew, sitting on the counselor s bed and reminiscing about how we
had spent the prior six weeks, trying not to talk about our separation the next morning. While I sat,
laughed, and cried with my surrogate family that night, I was also doing something else; I sat by the
dim flashlight, trying to quickly finish a friendship bracelet with a ballet shoe on it before morning
came, so that I could give it to my favorite dance teacher.
Even before that summer, I always felt that summer camps and friendship bracelets were intrinsically

While I turned down requests that summer, over the course of my six weeks, I still made many

Yes, exhibiting my work to the public was a worthwhile experience because it allowed me to see my
project through the eyes of new viewers, as well as over hearing some criticism of my work. Since I
had worked on my project for quite a long time, I became desensitized to my photographs. I did not
see them as revolting anymore, but during the exhibition, I saw a few disgusted reactions. One in
particular was an older woman, who after glancing at my images, made a sour face and immediately
moved on. Although I thought that was a funny reaction, it also reminded me that other people react to

Introduction: On the word of Shelton (2018) in the General Chemistry Ⅱ Lab Manual, Kinetics is the
study of the rates which chemical reactions occur at. The rate of reaction is dependent upon the change
of concentration over the change in time (p. 14). The objection of this lab was to establish the order of
reaction with respect to persulfate ion and the overall rate constant. Experimental Procedure: For this
lab, you will need three beakers that have a volume of 150mL, 2 graduated cylinders that have a
volume of 10mL and a stopwatch (Shelton, 2018 p. 15). In between experiments, you will want to
clean the beakers and the graduated cylinders thoroughly to obtain accurate results. Beaker 1 and 2

experiment again and that time we were efficient to capture the results we expected. There are no
theories applicable to this lab. The objective of this experiment was to establish the order of reaction
with respect to persulfate ion and overall rate. A way I would compare my results with my classmates
is by inquiring them how they stirred their solution after they mixed the contents of beaker 1 and 2
together. Did they use a stirrer, mix it by shaking the beaker in a circle or did they mix the solution at
all? A strength I experienced during this experiment is the consistency of the contents in the second
beaker. Although the amount of K_2 S_2 O_8 and K_s SO_4 varied throughput the four experiments,
they all yielded the same results. Which was a black color when the contents of beaker 1 and 2 were

The Significant Role of Women in Joseph Conrad s Heart of...
In the 1900s novella Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, the protagonist often encounters women at
landmarks of his life. Charlie Marlow is a sailor and imperialist who sets out along the Congo River to
civilize the savages. The novella begins with a crew on the Thames waiting for the tides to change.
During their wait, a character named Marlow tells of his exploits on the African continent. In his
recounted travels, Marlow meets other imperialists such as Mr. Kurtz, a man who is obsessed with the
pursuit of ivory and riches. Like Mr. Kurtz, Marlow embarks across the African continent in hopes of
earning both money and respect. One early critic of the novel, Edward Garnett, wrote in his review
that [Heart of Darkness] is simply a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women are viewed by Marlow as ignorant little creatures above the press of imperialism completely
innocent, but entirely unaware.
Africa is written as setting and backdrop which eliminates the African as human factor. Africa as a
metaphysical battlefield devoid of all recognizable humanity, into which the wandering European
enters at his peril (Achebe). Thus Conrad brings the savages of Africa and general women together.
Marlow brings the two victims of imperialism together in one, brief observation of Mr. Kurtz s foreign
mistress. Conrad s concise description of an Amazonian woman on page 56 is as follows:
...She was savage and superb, wild eyed and magnificent; there was something ominous and stately in
her deliberate progress...
Her long shadow fell to the water s edge. Her face had a tragic and fierce aspect of wild sorrow and of
dumb pain mingled with the fear of some struggling, half shaped resolve. She stood looking at us
without a stir, and like the wilderness itself, with an air of brooding over an inscrutable purpose...
Women and the savages are brought together under one umbrella of mingled patronization and awe. In
this respect, Marlow s view of women is the perfect oxymoron (Nadelhaft). Marlow s tone concerning
women and the Amazon is reverent, but belittling. These two groups of people are sub human to
Marlow in that he considers them of a lesser intellect and lesser value.

Analysis Of The Film Memento
The film Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2001) uses the set of depth of field and angles to enhance the
film s connection to the audience. The use of cinematography works through the film using narration,
camera motions, and angles to show to the uniqueness and differ from other films. Memento s
organization of scenes and use of close ups give the audience their own idea and thought the process
to create a relation to the character and to try to understand him.
At the start of the film, the story is shown to be presented backward as one scene is color and another
in black and white, and narrated in two different ways. In the beginning scenes, there is an
introduction of a Polaroid fading back to white and blood running up the walls which correlates to
Leonard s memory and how the fading polaroid relates to his fading memories. There is a close up on
these scenes showing that the film is concentrating on this intensely, which captures the attention of
the audience. Memento s editing structure connects to Leonard s personality by showing close ups of
his tattoos and polaroids. This relates to the plot as important information is revealed from his mini
notes on each picture, such as the Don t believe his lies or He s the one, kill him which ultimately lead
to Teddy s death. What Leonard wrote regarding Teddy stains the relationship they have and causes
Leonard to misunderstand his relation with Teddy. Other close ups are the shots of tattoos, where one
was Remember Sammy Jankis which shows as a constant reminder of his situation and medical
condition, but also give the audience a sympathetic feeling toward his past. The little notes Leonard
gives himself convinces him that he is on the right path, however, as the audience, we can tell that the
information he is receiving is skewed. The constant reminder from the close ups shows Leonard s
reasoning of the motivations for his actions, although his constant need for his notes and living the
way he does gives off the idea that he is unstable. Leonard s close up in the mirror of the reflection of
his tattoo John G. raped and murdered my wife shows the audience what his motive and desires are
without needing Leonard s narration for this. The use of the

My Reflection On Practicum
As I write this reflection on Thanksgiving break it shows me that I am thankful for this opportunity to
complete this practicum. Throughout this experience, it has put me out of my comfort zone. I learned
at a summer conference that if you are comfortable in what you are doing you are not learning. Well, I
have been extremely uncomfortable all while learning a plethora of new knowledge. This practicum
has let me experience new committees and helped me in finding my voice. The tool created by John
Driscoll: What? So What? and Now What? was a great model to use throughout the practicum. It
guided me and helped me put all of the work into an organized format from which I can help myself
learn even more.
Throughout this experience, I have asked myself what? many of times. Whether it be What is our
why? or What were we thinking? . What I got out of this experience I believe has changed my career
path for the better. I have been involved with three different committees that I had on my practicum
contract. These committees have opened my eyes to what a good committee looks like and to what a
committee that is in need of some help looks like. What I found most surprising is how a committee
starts and then no one wants to take the lead. I believe that is what leads to the downfall of a
committee or program. If no one believes or wants to push for the program, then why should others. I
have seen a change in my colleagues in the TLA and myself start to stand up and assist with these
issues.
In my time devoted to this practicum, I have learned how to use my voice and speak up for what I
think or would like to see. I have also used my voice to reach out to parents and our school staff. For
our AdvancED visit in January, a group and I lead a discussion on our values and beliefs as a school.
In three consecutive sessions we were able to produce a list of three commitments that we believe our
staff and students can live out day to day.
So, what was the point of completing this practicum which I thought I would not? I have gained
peoples respect, peoples trust, and most importantly, I have shown my abilities to my colleagues. I
believe that they now have an understanding of who I am and what I am capable of. If

Examples Of Shareholder Value Analysis
The Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) was created in 1986 by Dr. Alfred Rappaport and LEK/Alcar
Consulting Group. Dr. Rappaport presented the idea of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) in his book
Creating Shareholder Value in 1986. It is based on the Discounted Cash Flow Model. It has gained
publicity and it s now an established performance measurement tool. However, it is not as widely used
as the Economic Value Added method (EVA). The basis of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is
probably almost the same as Economic Value Added (EVA)
The principle behind Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is to discount estimated future cash flows in
order to calculate present value and hence to achieve continuous calculation of the value of the firm.

Both studios have put out amazing content and are the top in Superhero creation. However, there s

League. Each team has multiple members, and it s always been a debate on which team would come

heroes individual skills? In order to find out how a battle between the two groups would happen we
split the two teams into six different pairs. Each hero was pit against someone who would have a
similar skill set or power level as them. After the sets were created, we then began to find out each
character s individual skills. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each hero against the other
created a modest guess on who would win the battle. This is based solely on the skills of each
character and does not factor in battle areas or if the teams were to fight against each other together. ...

However, domestic violence, especially violence against both women and children from associated

number of people have the experience of witnessing varies degree of violence within the family. I

The most extreme case would be murdering. WHO reported that 38% of murdering of women is
conducted by intimate partners. Other than the case above, other significant damages would be
disability, functional disorder, delusional disorder, despondent, etc. The general feelings of victims
would be fear, depression, avoidance, suspicious, and the duration of those emotions would depend on
the degree or means of the violence conduction, the victim s education background, their social status
and numbers of other factors.
Not only women and children, men can be victims as well. But their experiences during violence are
different. Men tend to bury their thoughts deep in the heart; it means they would rather be silent than
speak out. Most likely men are mental victims in violence compared to women. Overall, speaking of
the size, women and children are still the main victim in terms of domestic violence.
Discussion over the issue
To understand the origin of domestic violence, the first thing I think is to identify universal factors
causing violence. According to the research, four major concerns are listed as below: economic living
conditions, traditional gender attitudes towards women, authoritarian parenting, and a general
tolerance of violent behavior in a given society. The research found that in rural area with relatively

Play Critique Of Man And Superman By George Bernard Shaw
Man and Superman Play Critique
Man and Superman, written by George Bernard Shaw, is a comedy of ideas which was based in late
19th century London. The play primarily revolves around John Tanner. It begins as news arrives of the
death of Mr. Whitefield, who is Ann s father. The first dilemma begins as Mr. Ramsden and Jack argue
over who will care for Ann and her sister and who will eventually marry Ann. There is also the
problem that comes with Violet, as she is secretly married and pregnant. Later in the play, Jack
encounters the famous womanizer Don Juan in a dream, who he confers with about the idea of
marriage. Throughout the duration of the play, the viewer is able to dissect the playwright s mind and
the directors and actors choices.
The play focuses on the idea of Ubermensch , which is German for superman . Shaw gives his
Ubermensch qualities such as superior intellect, intuition, and self defined virtues. The theme of the
play is the barriers that the evolution of the superman encounters, one of which according to Shaw is
marriage. The institution of marriage is a barrier as it strengthens the division of social classes and

Intrinsic And Intrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic Factors
One of commonly studied types of motivation is intrinsic and extrinsic, and the difference between
them has played significant part on both developmental and educational practices. Intrinsic motivation
remains an important concept, reflecting the natural human susceptibility to learn and adapt (Ryan
Deci, 2000). Intrinsic motivation is defined as the behavior of an individual that is being stimulated by
internal rewards. The motivation to involve in a behavior arises from within the individual because it
is rewarding intrinsically, (Cherry, 2015).
According to Ryan Deci (2000), they distinguish between different types of motivation based on the
different reasons or goals that drives an individual to move. The simplest distinction is between
intrinsic motivation, which refers to doing something because it is inherently interesting or enjoyable,
and extrinsic motivation, which refers to doing something because it leads to a separable outcome.
While indicated that Intrinsic motivation is doing an activity for its individual own satisfaction rather
than for some separable significance. He added that when a person is intrinsically motivated an
individual moved for the pleasurable or challenge entailed rather than because of external urges,
pressures, or rewards.

According to Luthans (2005), if people work in a clean, friendly environment, they will find it easier

job satisfaction when, for example, the working conditions are either extremely good or extremely

First Day In School Essay
Sammie Jo, get up. We have to go drop dad off, I hear mom say from my door. I roll out of bed with
my doll, my brother is already in the living room. Dad has a big duffle bag sitting by the couch. He
says good bye to the dogs and then we all walk out to the car. My brother and I do not say word the
whole car ride. Mommy was crying and holding dad s hand on the way to Cherry Point. It took us
about twenty minutes to get on base and to my dad s work building. There was a lot of buff men in
their cammies, some of them are already on the bus. What is going on? I think to myself. Dad gives
mom a hug and kiss before he gave me and my brother a hug. I don t understand what is going on but
I don t let go off my daddy for what felt like forever. Time to let go kiddo, Dad says before making me
pull away. He gives us one last look before walking into the big group of Marines. I keep my eyes on
him as long as possible before he gets on the bus and drives away. The next day is the first day of
second grade. I cannot wait to see my old classmates and meet my new teacher. When we get done
eating breakfast, we give mom a hug good bye then head to the bus stop. It does not feel right, only
saying bye to one parent before going to school but my brother, Blake, just tells me that I better get
used to it. The school day goes on as usual. I stay to myself a lot. I don t need a ton of friends or to be
the popular one; my only worry at the time is making good grades. All day I think to

Dunn Orthodontics Research Paper
Dunn Ortho interceptive Orthodontics
Dunn orthodontics is a leading orthodontics practice that offers various malocclusion treatments
including Invisalign, braces and interceptive orthodontics treatment. Malocclusion is caused by
misalignment of the tooth and jaw. The problem can affect a number of things including how we
smile, bite and clean the teeth. Invisalign is a popular treatment that uses a progressive series of clear
removable aligners or clear plastic trays. The treatment takes a shorter time and is applicable in both
children and adults. The treatment using braces, on the other hand offers a number of benefits,
including increased self esteem, less general tooth decay and fewer digestive disorders.

The treatment is based on the bases that diagnosing and treating cases of malocclusions at an early,
discovery stage can go a long way to stem the problem. Today s interceptive orthodontics treatment
has done a lot to phase out permanent removal of teeth to correct the bite and late orthodontic
treatment which traditionally began at around age 12 to 14. The treatment also reduces treatment time,
creates and preserves space for the un erupted teeth and creates a facial symmetry through fine jaw
bone resetting. Children who undergo this phased treatment are often treated at age between 7 and 11
to take advantage of the continued teeth growth. The treatment at this age is much easier because the
patient s are much more receptive to the treatment thus ensuring better end

Examples of these types of minerals are coal, ores and precious stones. The mining industry also broadly covers quarrying and well operations. The sector comprises two basic activities: mine operations and mining support activities. Mine operations involve setting up the mine, quarry or well for the organization, or on behalf of another organization for a small fee. Mining support activities are those operations that must be carried out before mining begins; exploration and other services (except site preparation and construction of oil/gas pipelines). There are not too many competitors as certain materials can only be mined in specific areas. Supplier power Supplier power is quite high in mining as most of the worlds mines are owned, or part owned, by three of the largest mining companies in the world; Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Anglo American. Also, as mining is one of the primary activities, there are not many suppliers. The only possible exception is that of the machinery suppliers, but since this is so specialized, they will have little power over the huge multinational corporations that are the mining companies. The suppliers of mining equipment, for example Caterpillar, have little power because contracts with mining companies go in to millions of dollars and those who supply equipment don t want to lose any potential customers. Threat of entry In the mining industry the treat of entry is very small this is due to the extensive capital needed in order to start operating a mine. Costs include: Training of employers and staff. • 5. Essay about Christian Teaching on Wealth and Poverty Coursework (a) (i) Outline Christian teaching on wealth and poverty. Christians do not think money is a bad thing. However, they believe the way money is earned and used is the issue. Most Christians believe that wealth is a gift from God to benefit others. Christians believe that all money belongs to God and he gives them stewardship of his money to use wisely. The Bible teaches, You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24). For Christians this means that they must be careful not to replace their love for God with the love of money. Christian teaching on wealth and possessions varies slightly regarding the amount of money and possessions that should be given to the poor. Some Christians follow the teaching in (Mark ... That the poor were special to him and that their suffering would be rewarded in heaven. He also went on to say, The rich who ignored the suffering of the poor would be punished. One of Jesus most important teachings on poverty was in Matthew 25:31 46. To the affect Jesus said Whenever you help anyone in need you are helping me. Christians believe that when they help someone they are helping Jesus and that they will be rewarded for it. These are the main Christian teachings on wealth and poverty. (a) (ii) Explain why there is a need for world development. The worlds countries are split up into three factions: developed countries, less economically developed countries, (LEDCs), and the countries in between these two extremes. • 7. Personal versus Public Poetry Personal vs. Public Poets write poetry to express their inner thoughts and views. In Seamus Heaney s poem From the Frontier of Writing, Heaney describes how the publics react to his poetry. Heaney does this by portraying the process of going through a military transport. Heaney shows a conflict between his inner thoughts and the public s reactions to them. This creates tension between the personal and the public. Throughout this poem, Heaney portrays the process of going through a military transport. He makes the reader feel as if they are the ones going through the process by his use of you, your, and you re throughout the poem. Heaney tries to use this poem to show the reader his feeling towards the media and critic of his poetry. Heaney uses images of hostility by the soldiers in stanzas 1 6 to express how he feels when someone criticizes or reads his poem. Heaney faces readers and critics inspecting his poetry such as, troops inspect [the car s] make and number (Heaney, line 2 3). Heaney feels as if the critiques are marksmen, training down out of the sun upon [him] like a hawk, (Heaney, lines17 18). Heaney fears of judgment as the critiques, eyeing with intent, inspect his poem (Heaney, line 5). In the last two stanzas, there is a shift in tone as Heaney feels that the critics and readers are gone. Suddenly, Heaney feels, arraigned yet freed, as he finally passes through the soldiers or critics (Heaney, line 19). This shows the relief he feels when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Battle Of The Roman Republic As the Roman Republic found its way into the third and second centuries BC, it could not have anticipated its level of military engagement nor the number of conflicts it would find itself in over the next two hundred years. A series of wars allowed the Roman Republic to consolidate power on the Italian peninsula, emerge as a major force in the Mediterranean area, and lay the groundwork for what eventually would become the Empire. The series of wars Rome fought had profound impacts on the political, economic, social and cultural areas of Roman life. Ultimately Rome would emerge as a powerhouse city with a thriving political system within it, dominate the economic situation in the region before extending further, and saw the dramatic change of Roman society as it experienced a cultural influx from foreigners. The series of wars in response to Pyrrhus invasion and the rebellion of Italian tribes would ultimately lead to the unification of the Republic on the peninsula, as well as secure a period of reprieve from foreign invasion forces. The recently defeated Samnite tribe in central Italy resented Roman control and when tensions between the Tarentines and Romans escalated, they would play a major role in the civil unrest and eventual war. The Romans decision to develop a navy was met with harsh and immediate response from Tarentum, who also called upon King Pyrrhus of Epirus to help them engage the Roman forces. Nonetheless, being at the club constantly made people asked me if I worked there. It made sense to me to work, have fun, and get paid. I love to be surrounded by all different types of people. Positions were needed to be filled, so I applied for the bartender position. Everyone knew me by name. Since I was in the military, permission from my Commander and supervisor was need. This can be confirmed by a line for a paper written about Dimmesdale s feelings throughout the book Dimmesdale alone knows that he is the man signified by this A for adultery and A for Arthur. Children are taught at a young age to be team players and many parents engage their children in sports activity to learn this skill. Even children shows through the years consist of teams from Ninja Turtles, Avengers to the old school children shows such as Scooby Doo and Super Friends. These children shows typically provide kids lessons and hidden messages about team work and their victory against the villains. Organizations may not necessarily have to battle villains in order to be successful, but they do have obstacles to overcome to be able to work together. It is also important to have an initial understanding of the types of issues that a team face that prevents them from performing as a cohesive group. It starts with identifying the organizational vision, its goals before leaders identify the right employees for the job. Recruiting, attracting and retaining the right players may pose a challenge of its own; however, all can be done with the right planning. Socializing the team through the right team building activities will enhance the team s relationship and understanding towards a cohesive relationship. Most importantly is to align the vision and employees objectives to provide employees the appropriate feedback for growth and success of the team. A sense of fellowship amongst similar people allows a person to become more comfortable with who they are through interactions with others who are going through or have gone through the same triumphs or hardships. Without this feeling of belonging, one could be driven into insanity. Anxiety due to isolation and desolation could run rampant through a person s mind because of the loneliness that comes with a lack of community making it an essential part of a humanhood. Born into a class or cast systems unknowing of the challenges yet to come and the stratifications they will face. No matter which factors these babies may be born into, each and every one will face some sort of stratification and inequality based on their society, and the way they are raised within it. Sexual orientation is just one factor of inequality in our culture, and I will discuss here how it affects job stratification and economic placement. Social stratification can be viewed in one of three ways, first is structural functional which is based on a society which is rewarded for their efforts and accomplishments. This theory believes that inequality boost economy, pushing people to work harder. Next we have social conflict which looks at society as being divided based on resources and ownership. This theory looks at unequal rewards as creating inequality and placing a divide in society. Weber looked at this in terms of socioeconomic status ranking people based on their inequalities. • 17. Lean Management Is A Method Of Running A Business According to (Rouse, 2013), lean management is a method of running a business that supports the concept of constant improvement. Therefore, lean management is a long term approach to work that thoroughly seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and quality. The theory was first established between 1948 and 1975 by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo Shingo the two Japanese engineers (Arnheiter and Maleyeff, 2005). But the method was initially found in the works of Henry Ford, who Ohno greatly appreciated and studied Ford because of his accomplishments and the reduction of waste at early Ford assembly plants (Arnheiter and Maleyeff, 2005). Thus Lean management eliminates all forms of waste, decreasing errors, shrinking inventory and ordering or supplying parts just in time, therefore decreasing warehousing costs. (Rand, 2013) identified the seven forms of waste, including waste in unnecessary motion, over processing and transportation. Thus by doing this it will saves the business money and allows workers to pay attention to more value creating activities. There are four main principles of lean which are (Rouse, 2013) firstly defining the value from the perspective of the end customer, identifying each steps in a business process and eliminating non value activities, making the value creating steps occur in tight sequence and then finally repeating the first three steps on a constantly basis until all the waste has been eliminated. The Ancient country lies in Western Africa where the modern countries of Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal are today (Kingdom of Ghana). The people of Ghana ate what they could provide by farming. They farmed crops such as corn and rice. The Niger river ,which cut across ancient Ghana, flooded like the Nile during the rainy season bringing water and nutrients to their fields (Social Aspects of Ancient Ghana) . They raised animals such as Goats, chickens, and sheep to eat. The people mostly ate several different types of soup with fufu, plantain, bread, rice, and potatoes. The soups were nut based with different meats such as fish, mutton, goat, or chicken added (Ancient Ghana Environment). Fufu is the african equivalent to mashed potatoes. It normally accompanies soup or a meat with gravy. Fufu is rolled up into balls then a indenture is made. It is then used to scoop up soup or gravy. In Central Africa Fufu is made out of cassava tubers (Fufu). Cassava tubers are starchy roots from the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae) of plants (Cassava Nutrition Facts and Health Benefits). Most would agree that adolescent females see the size of most models and assume that is what is considered beauty. Media does not promote anorexia to distort women s body images. Most women that starve themselves do not do it because of television, movies, or magazines, etc. They starve themselves to make them feel better and to uplift their self esteem. Media does not play a role in anorexia because of three main reasons: environmental factors, exercising, and dieting. One reason media does not play a role in anorexia is because of environmental factors. Her long shadow fell to the water s edge. Her face had a tragic and fierce aspect of wild sorrow and of dumb pain mingled with the fear of some struggling, half shaped resolve. She stood looking at us without a stir, and like the wilderness itself, with an air of brooding over an inscrutable purpose... Women and the savages are brought together under one umbrella of mingled patronization and awe. In this respect, Marlow s view of women is the perfect oxymoron (Nadelhaft). Marlow s tone concerning women and the Amazon is reverent, but belittling. These two groups of people are sub human to Marlow in that he considers them of a lesser intellect and lesser value. ... • 32. Analysis Of The Film Memento The film Memento (Christopher Nolan, 2001) uses the set of depth of field and angles to enhance the film s connection to the audience. The use of cinematography works through the film using narration, camera motions, and angles to show to the uniqueness and differ from other films. Memento s organization of scenes and use of close ups give the audience their own idea and thought the process to create a relation to the character and to try to understand him. At the start of the film, the story is shown to be presented backward as one scene is color and another in black and white, and narrated in two different ways. In the beginning scenes, there is an introduction of a Polaroid fading back to white and blood running up the walls which correlates to Leonard s memory and how the fading polaroid relates to his fading memories. There is a close up on these scenes showing that the film is concentrating on this intensely, which captures the attention of the audience. Memento s editing structure connects to Leonard s personality by showing close ups of his tattoos and polaroids. This relates to the plot as important information is revealed from his mini notes on each picture, such as the Don t believe his lies or He s the one, kill him which ultimately lead to Teddy s death. What Leonard wrote regarding Teddy stains the relationship they have and causes Leonard to misunderstand his relation with Teddy. Other close ups are the shots of tattoos, where one was Remember Sammy Jankis which shows as a constant reminder of his situation and medical condition, but also give the audience a sympathetic feeling toward his past. The little notes Leonard gives himself convinces him that he is on the right path, however, as the audience, we can tell that the information he is receiving is skewed. The constant reminder from the close ups shows Leonard s reasoning of the motivations for his actions, although his constant need for his notes and living the way he does gives off the idea that he is unstable. Leonard s close up in the mirror of the reflection of his tattoo John G. raped and murdered my wife shows the audience what his motive and desires are without needing Leonard s narration for this. • 34. My Reflection On Practicum As I write this reflection on Thanksgiving break it shows me that I am thankful for this opportunity to complete this practicum. Throughout this experience, it has put me out of my comfort zone. I learned at a summer conference that if you are comfortable in what you are doing you are not learning. Well, I have been extremely uncomfortable all while learning a plethora of new knowledge. This practicum has let me experience new committees and helped me in finding my voice. The tool created by John Driscoll: What? So What? and Now What? was a great model to use throughout the practicum. It guided me and helped me put all of the work into an organized format from which I can help myself learn even more. Throughout this experience, I have asked myself what? many of times. Whether it be What is our why? or What were we thinking? . What I got out of this experience I believe has changed my career path for the better. I have been involved with three different committees that I had on my practicum contract. These committees have opened my eyes to what a good committee looks like and to what a committee that is in need of some help looks like. What I found most surprising is how a committee starts and then no one wants to take the lead. I believe that is what leads to the downfall of a committee or program. If no one believes or wants to push for the program, then why should others. I have seen a change in my colleagues in the TLA and myself start to stand up and assist with these issues. In my time devoted to this practicum, I have learned how to use my voice and speak up for what I think or would like to see. I have also used my voice to reach out to parents and our school staff. For our AdvancED visit in January, a group and I lead a discussion on our values and beliefs as a school. In three consecutive sessions we were able to produce a list of three commitments that we believe our staff and students can live out day to day. So, what was the point of completing this practicum which I thought I would not? I have gained peoples respect, peoples trust, and most importantly, I have shown my abilities to my colleagues. I believe that they now have an understanding of who I am and what I am capable of. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Examples Of Shareholder Value Analysis The Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) was created in 1986 by Dr. Alfred Rappaport and LEK/Alcar Consulting Group. Dr. Rappaport presented the idea of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) in his book Creating Shareholder Value in 1986. It is based on the Discounted Cash Flow Model. It has gained publicity and it s now an established performance measurement tool. However, it is not as widely used as the Economic Value Added method (EVA). The basis of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is probably almost the same as Economic Value Added (EVA) (www.5paisa.com/scho/ch09.html,www.lek.com) The principle behind Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is to discount estimated future cash flows in order to calculate present value and hence to achieve continuous calculation of the value of the firm. Play Critique Of Man And Superman By George Bernard Shaw Man and Superman Play Critique Man and Superman, written by George Bernard Shaw, is a comedy of ideas which was based in late 19th century London. The play primarily revolves around John Tanner. It begins as news arrives of the death of Mr. Whitefield, who is Ann s father. The first dilemma begins as Mr. Ramsden and Jack argue over who will care for Ann and her sister and who will eventually marry Ann. There is also the problem that comes with Violet, as she is secretly married and pregnant. Later in the play, Jack encounters the famous womanizer Don Juan in a dream, who he confers with about the idea of marriage. Throughout the duration of the play, the viewer is able to dissect the playwright s mind and the directors and actors choices. The play focuses on the idea of Ubermensch , which is German for superman . Shaw gives his Ubermensch qualities such as superior intellect, intuition, and self defined virtues. The theme of the play is the barriers that the evolution of the superman encounters, one of which according to Shaw is marriage. The institution of marriage is a barrier as it strengthens the division of social classes and hinders copulation. It was also heavily influenced by power and property acquisition. It is criticized in the play as Violet keeps her marriage a secret from her family and others because her husband is of a lesser social class. Intrinsic And Intrinsic Motivation Intrinsic Factors One of commonly studied types of motivation is intrinsic and extrinsic, and the difference between them has played significant part on both developmental and educational practices. Intrinsic motivation remains an important concept, reflecting the natural human susceptibility to learn and adapt (Ryan Deci, 2000). Intrinsic motivation is defined as the behavior of an individual that is being stimulated by internal rewards. The motivation to involve in a behavior arises from within the individual because it is rewarding intrinsically, (Cherry, 2015). According to Ryan Deci (2000), they distinguish between different types of motivation based on the different reasons or goals that drives an individual to move. The simplest distinction is between intrinsic motivation, which refers to doing something because it is inherently interesting or enjoyable, and extrinsic motivation, which refers to doing something because it leads to a separable outcome.
