Digital Technology Effects
Digital Technology and The Effects on Human Health Nicholas Reott Kaplan University CM 107:
College Composition I Professor Lee August 15, 2017 Digital Technology and the Effects on Human
Health In this growing and advanced society, modern technology can ultimately play a significant role
in advancing our chosen professions. Presently, the world has been made much more accessible by
modern technology. It is now possible to stay in constant contact with everyone around and work in
areas that were unimaginable just a few short years ago. However, the constant use of this technology
comes at a cost. Increased use of digital technology and current exposure to electronic fields coming
from wi fi and other digital devices such as laptops, cellphones, and iPads can negatively affect
humans mental and emotional health as well as social interaction skills; many of the increased health
problems suffered these days are also the result of an inappropriate use of medical technology. In
recent years, it seems like digital technology has slowly changed people mentally, while on one side it
feeds them with knowledge, and on the other side it negatively affects people s mental and emotional
health. For instance, some people have become over reliant on their technological devices, to the point
that it would take control of their lives, creating stressful situations and affecting their emotional
health. On an emotional level, most of the younger generations want instant

The Fight Against Institutionalized Homophobia
Life is hard. There are over seven billion people in the world and each one of us are different; we vary
through our physical appearances our skin from the deepest ebony to the palest porcelain, our eyes can
be akin to the chill in our bones or the darkest entropy behind our eyes. It isn t all physical, of course.
As people, we range in intelligence, religion (or lack thereof), even our sexual preferences we are
individuals. With so much variety, there is simply a basic need to have rights to express ourselves, to
be ourselves without persecution. We require equal rights with fair treatment of everyone. Long battles
have been fought from the beginning of human civilization, but we re not done yet. In the supposed
Land of the Free where man, woman, and everything in between are supposed to stand united,
marrying someone of the same sex is a very controversial topic among many due to institutionalized
homophobia, something which had continually delayed the legalization... Until June of 2015.
The general topic of same sex marriage often brings up a couple points, including whether or not
marriage is a right and that activists are fighting a fight that doesn t need to be fought. Frankly, this is
bigotry either brought on through ignorance or plain blindness. Don t get me wrong, though.
The right to marry a person of the same sex or gender is not a right in the same way that freedom of
speech or religion and in no way am I implying that it is; marriage itself is a civil

The Discovery Of Crude Oil And Oil Prices
Introduction
Agricultural production which used to be the mainstay of Nigerian economy has been declined as
results of crude oil discovery and subsequent increase in production and exportation of crude oil (Edo
(2013). The discovery of crude oil and appreciation of oil price in the World market some years ago
leads Nigerian government to abandon all other means of revenue generations including agriculture,
just to depend solely on crude oil revenue to finance most of her budgets. However, crude oil exports
are no longer sustaining the economy due to current downturn in crude oil price. For instance, the
Nigerian government generated lots of revenues from crude oil exports but majority of her populations
are still under the poverty line (Shaxson, 2005). Therefore, there is need to source revenue generations
through other means. Among those means of revenue generation is through increase in agriculture
production and exportation. But the sector needs massive overhaul and developments in order to yield
fruitful results. Developments of agricultural sector will require serious investments in the sector,
which is done properly, will improve export revenues in country through an increase in agriculture
output and exportation. This therefore calls for an urgent need to assist farmers with capitals,
improved and hybrid crops and livestock, and subsidize agricultural inputs which in effect will
increase agricultural yields (Jerven, 2014). For instance, in many developing

Roles Of Women In Ancient Greek Society
Women s Place in Ancient Greek Society
Women in antiquity did not have an easy life. In an era where man rules, women have limited freedom
and few rights. Women s roles differed little from Rome, Egypt, and China. There were few
exceptions: women living in the city of Sparta had some nobility and rose to power, for example,
Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory. Besides those above, women of that era were
limited to an education, mobility, and their roles was housewives and childbearing. Women had little
time to involve herself in the political goings on in that era.
A woman s fate was controlled by the father and passed down to the husband afterwards. Women of
the antiquity were married in their early teens to older husbands. The marriages were arranged by the
Father s bride and often the bride did not meet the husband until marriage details had been worked
out. Virginity was valuable for women in antiquity, as well loyalty and fidelity. For a woman to
divorce it needed the permission from a male member of the family (the father). Women were not
allowed to own land or dispose property as she pleases. Also, they are prohibited to participate in
politics, buy goods or sell services. Men believed women only cause despair, chaos, and confused
situations even more, that they are incapable of decision making
Jepherson 2 and understanding politics. Taking care of the house, cook, child care, fidelity, that was
the perfect woman in ancient Greek society.

What Does Coming Of Age Mean In To Kill A Mockingbird
Growing up is an ability the human species were blessed and cursed with. It comes with aging, aching
bodies and a greater awareness of the world. And yet, growing up also comes with an opportunity for
us to invent an entirely new version of ourselves. We re always changing, but the first drastic change
in our lives is the coming of age. It s something that signifies your shift from adolescence to
adulthood. However, coming of age is more than just another transition of your life. It s also about the
life events and lessons that will stay with you as one matures. This monumental change in our
existence has been found in countless numbers of stories. But, one remarkable example is a novel
titled To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In the classic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the excerpt, when Dubose passed away, Jem received a box. Inside the box was a
white, waxy, perfect camellia (148). However, Jem threw the gift on the ground while screaming old
hell devil, old hell devil (148). It could be argued that he thought that Dubose was mocking him even
after death. He had such a horrible image of her that he didn t even consider that this gift was
supposed to be a sign of forgiveness. It seemed that Atticus understood her true intentions and
explained that it was her way of telling (him) that everything s all right now, ...everything s all right
(149). If the audience combines Atticus s explanation and the scene where Jem destroyed the garden,
it s clear that Mrs. Dubose had a positive motive. The garden was her prized possession, which
explains why he had to pay her back by reading to her for an entire month. Dubose just wanted to give
Jem something that was extremely significant to her. As mentioned before, the tone of the excerpt in
the beginning was a way to show Dubose s malicious side. But with this flower, Jem and the readers
saw this new perspective of Dubose as a person. By only knowing her unpleasant demeanor, we
wouldn t predict that Mrs. Dubose would show this sign of compassion. Therefore, this symbol of
forgiveness depicts the life lesson that there s more to a person than what you are able to

Behavior Change Reflection
I thoroughly enjoyed the behavior change program. I started this program thinking one way about
yoga and left with a completely different point of view. I now have a new work out that I love doing
and will continue to do well into the future. For my weekly goals, I did meet them most weeks
however, there were some weeks where I felt I did not reach the goal I set for myself. That was to be
expected so it never derailed my motivation when I came up short on my goals. I did meet all of my
long term goal. In the end I gained more flexibility while still improving my strength and maintain my
body composition. I also found a workout that I enjoy doing which distresses and relaxes me.
The only change that needs to be made to continue my progress is that I need to devote more time to
working on my flexibility, even more than I already do. Whenever I have free time I should spend 15
20 minutes working on my flexibility so that I can eventually get to where I want to be. Before, once I
finished my yoga workouts for the week is was sometimes hard to find the motivation to work on my
flexibility during my down time. That is now something I would like to change.
The strategies that were successful was being open minded to all the different types of yoga and the
benefits that each have. I went in being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Business Intelligence, Accountant, And Marketing Intelligence
I am a student at Bryant and Stratton College working towards his bachelor in the business field. I
haven t yet decided what I want to use my degree to accomplish or what career I see myself attaining
in my future. As I conducted my research on my three professions, I have discovered that I would like
to be a business intelligence analyst, accountant, or maybe even a marketing manager.
Business intelligence analysts are important to the business field. They are responsible for producing
financial and marketing intelligence by querying data repositories and generating periodic reports.
They are also to devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information
sources. Its certain you must acquire or already attain to be a business analyst such as critical thinking,
active listening, reading comprehension, active learning, and also speaking well. They must complete
certain tasks, like for example, Analyzing competitive marketing strategies, synthesizing current
business intelligence, managing timely flow of the business, and also collect data from available
industries reports. As of the 2014 research business analyst median wages are $40.10 an hour and their
salaries are $83,410. What really drew me to this field was the chance to work with a company to
ensure growth and improvement.
Accountants to me are the most important field in the business aspect of the world. They re

Good Leadership Characteristics Of Good Presidents
Good Leadership Characteristics of Good Presidents
For our presentation, we have decided the best theme to show the many traits of great leaders was to
show them in the Presidents of the United States. There were many different presidents who had
different qualities; some bad and some good. In our presentation, we will show you the president who
showed a specific trait in their actions. Most of the presidents who showed positive character traits
were are remembered in a good way. Many of the presidents with poor leadership traits became very
infamous.
Theodore Roosevelt Courage: The 26th president of the United States, Teddy Roosevelt, was a very
well liked president; mostly because of his personality. He was a hard worker and played many sports
including boxing, fishing, running, and mountain climbing. His childhood really influenced his
personality and character traits that they carried on to when he became the leading general at the
Battle of San Juan Hill in the Spanish American. He led what was known as The Rough Riders . His
impeccable courage guided the Americans to victory. Also, when he became president, he created the
Square Deal which helped the American get out the coal shortage slump. His courage to get
Americans through droughts and rough times shows that he can be a great leader. As Teddy Roosevelt
showed, courage can guide people to victory, as he did in the Battle of San Juan Hill.

NOTE
Consistently Inconsistent: U.S. LNG Exportation Policy and the WTO
MICHAEL P. SMITH Efficiency advances in natural gas extraction and development, as well as a
shift in global economics, have led to a surge in global liquefied natural gas (LNG) demand in the
United States. At the same time, pervasive environmental concerns heighten the stakes for expanding
upstream natural gas development and downstream LNG exportation. While US. licensing for LNG

This Note argues that U.S. LNG exportation polig is inconsistent with its WTO obligations, and
despite the merits of such apolig, those differences may not be reconciled by invoking a GATT
environmental exception. Consequently, if U.S. polig remains unchanged, the United States risks
frustrating non FTA partner countries that increasingly demand natural gas exports, creating an
internally conflicted trade polig, losing credibiliy to challenge other countries, and even succumbing
to successful challenges before the WTO.

The only real substitute is to buy all the functions of a mobile phone in the individual products, which
would not be plausible to carry all around on a person at the same time. It is hard to be replaced for a
different product, since it covers so many different needs. MOST ATTRACTIVE FACTOR OF THE 5
FORCES MODEL We believe that the most attractive factor in the microenvironment of the mobile
phone industry is the threat of substitutes. As we have said above, the mobile phone does not have a
real substitute since it offers a huge range of services and functions in just one device, and there are no
other products that can offer these characteristics. The importance of communications today, has made
the mobile phone a basic need for everyone, and the possibility of being in contact with the world at
any time or place is a function offered exclusively by mobile phones. Both of the reasons explained
above make this industry highly profitable and attractive for potential companies. LESS
ATTRACTIVE FACTOR FOR THE FIVE FORCES MODEL After having analysed all the factors we
have concluded that the less attractive factor is the powers of buyers for the cell phone industry. This
is due to the fact that there are a lot of choices for customers when buying a mobile phone (high
rivalry). Besides, the network operators sign contracts with customers for 24 months in order

Coast Guard Case Summary
1. Current Coast Guard policy, reference (a), relies entirely on the Decedent Affairs Officer (DAO) as
a collateral duty. This responsibility for coordinating support services related to active duty, reserve
and dependents deaths is extremely time consuming and detracts from a DAO s normal duties. The
lack of a full time DAO to provide assistance to the family or next of kin (NOK) is stressful and
emotionally draining on the individual. The Decedent Affairs Officer needs to be streamlined into a
full time position under the command of the Personnel Service Center 2. There are 23 DAO s assigned
throughout the Coast Guard. Thirteen at Bases, Seven at training centers and three at other key units.
The DAO s responsibility is coordinating support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The financial responsibility of funding a case initially falls on the DAO s unit. The average DAO case
costs $10k $13k dollars. This cost expenditure has the potential to affect unit readiness or meeting
mission requirements if funds are unavailable for other critical needs. Unit funds will not be
reimbursed from headquarters until all expenses have been expended and paid out. This can take
anywhere from 10 days to several weeks depending on the circumstances of the members death.
Requiring the unit to operate on a negative budget due to no fault of their own is unacceptable and
irresponsible. 5. Opponents will argue the Coast Guard can t afford to hire new personnel. Almost
certainly true, so use active duty personnel and make DAO a special assignment. Make it a two year
tour with a priority 3 assignment due to the sensitive nature of the position. This will provide a full
time billet as well as offer challenging opportunities and some sea going rates may see it as an
opportunity to get an ashore assignment. 6. Some may argue nothing is wrong with the current
process. Just because that is the way we have always done it, doesn t mean its right. There is always
room for improvement. Funding issues for individual units would be alleviated as all funeral costs
would be funded by PSC directly instead of having to reimburse the unit after the fact. This would
ensure unit readiness and funds availability for critical

Essay about Organization Structures
Organization Structures The mechanistic view of an organization began with the industrial revolution.
The view is a reflection of society s radical change from a rural agricultural base to one more
impersonally based on centralized urban industry employing great numbers of people. The first
changes began in the late 1600 s and early 1700 s with rudimentary machines replacing manual labor
or accomplishing things not previously possible because of size, weight, or sheer numbers. The
greatest industrial growth was during the 1800 s period, which was exponential at its end and the
outset of our century.
The view and metaphorical analogy of an organization as a machine was the result of the only frame
of reference available at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mechanistic structures are designed to induce people to behave in predictable, accountable ways.
Decision making authority is centralized, subordinates are closely supervised, and information flows
mainly in a vertical direction down a clearly defined hierarchy. In a mechanistic structure the tasks
associated with a role are also clearly defined. There is usually a one to one correspondence between a
person and a task (figure 1 depicts this). Each person is individually specialized and knows exactly
what he or she is responsible for, and behavior inappropriate to the role is discouraged or prohibited.
The mechanistic structure is the traditional or classical design, common in many medium and large
size organizations. Mechanistic organizations are somewhat rigid in that they consist of very clearly
delineated jobs, have a well defined hierarchical structure, and rely heavily on the formal chain of
command for control. Bureaucratic organizations, with their emphasis on formalization, are the
primary form of mechanistic structures. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is a form of
organization characterized by a rational, goal directed hierarchy, impersonal decision making, formal
controls, and subdivision into managerial positions and specialization of labor. Bureaucratic
organizations are tall consisting of hierarchies with many levels of management. In a tall structure,
people become relatively confined to their

Memory Foam Essay
Mattresses come in many sizes, shapes, styles and firmness levels. Consumers often feel overwhelmed
when they see the sheer number of options available to them. Following is some information on the
major types of mattresses available today, along with the benefits and drawbacks of each option.
Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam mattresses remain the preferred choice of consumers in America, when rating
mattresses on average user satisfaction. For this reason, individuals often turn to this type of mattress
when they want to replace an existing one. In fact, they are often referred to as the ideal all around
mattress for any person, and this helps to explain why approximately 85 percent of individuals now

This offgassing produced a chemical smell that is unpleasant. This problem can easily be eliminated
by allowing the mattress, pillow or pad to air for a minimum of 24 hours before putting a cover or
sheet over it. This helps to remove the smell. For those who forget to take this step, there is no need
for concern, as the smell doesn t cause a reaction in those individuals using the bed.
Memory foam should not be used with young children. As the memory foam is very soft, carbon
monoxide could become trapped in the bedding. This leads to concern about Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome (SIDS), a syndrome that results in the death of young infants.
One thing to consider when choosing this type of mattress is the type of construction. Some
individuals wish to have a traditional foam or gel infused mattress, yet others prefer one made using
plant based foam. Budget does play a role in which brand is selected, yet manufacturers understand
how popular this type of bed has become and now offer a wide range of products spanning a range of
price points. When two similar mattresses are found, it s best to look at other factors, like customer
service and reliability, when choosing. Don t hesitate to go with a lesser known brand or a lower
quality of mattress, if the bed will only be used occassionally or for a short period of

ow are animals in today s world abused and domesticated by humans? Animal domestication benefits
most countries because it helps them farm, grow food, and get materials. In Syria, Asia, and Europe
pigs were utilized more in settled farming communities than in nomadic groups because they are
difficult to move for long distance. One reason animals are domesticated is for their hides and their
fur, which provides materials for shelter. Hides are used in teepees as well, while hair is used for

Essay Josef Ackermann leadership style
Portfolio Essay: Final Draft
Josef Ackermann (Deutsche Bank/Germany)
Using Darling and Leffel s (2010) framework, this essay will evaluate on how Josef Ackermann
demonstrated his leadership style as a Swiss banker, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
Deutsche Bank and Chairman of Zurich Insurance.
As defined by Peter Northouse (2001), leadership is a process, in which an individual influences a
group to achieve a common goal. And to achieve that goal, a visionary leader should put forth much
effort to critically apply his leadership skills and knowledge. In general, leadership is more than
management. To be successful, a leader has to be strategic, show motivation and innovation, and
should be flexible and focused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of his biggest goals was turning Deutsche Bank into one of the world s top three advisers on
mergers and acquisitions and returning its status to the top ten in market value (Guyon , 2004).
As a Director level leader, Josef Ackermann has been well regarded and recognised by many as a
successful and effective manager and leader, shifting the style of management from a conventional
mode to one that focused on the needs of shareholders and on international expansion (Mitchell,
2010). According to Lussier and Achua (2010), leaders such as Ackermann are able to take swift and
decisive action, even in the most difficult situations, and take calculated risks while persevering in the
face of failure. Strong communication skills, self confidence, the ability to manage others and
willingness to embrace change also characterize a successful leader.
Ackermann has also been a member of the influential Washington based financial advisory body, the
Group of Thirty and also served on other company boards, including Bayer AG, Deutsche Lufthansa
AG, Linde, Mannesman, and Siemens AG. Ackermann changed the distribution of power within
Deutsche Bank, resulting in criticism from traditionalists and praise from those who shared his global
focus, allowing him to become the most powerful man in Germany s financial industry (Loades
Carter, 2005). Ackermann successful steered his bank through the 2008 global financial crisis. Quoted
in his speech before the Atlantic Council, Germany will

Trophic Levels
The number of producers compared to the number of consumers is less than the consumers. The
amount of primary consumers is three while the secondary are three and the tertiary are four. The
trophic levels these feeders animals occupy are second, third and fourth trophic levels. Also known as
primary, secondary and tertiary consumers. The animals that form these trophic levels are rabbits,
birds, deer, mountain lions, fox s, coyotes, owls, eagles hawks and falcons. The reason the energy
pyramid starts bigger at the bottom and gets smaller as it goes up is because the bottom represents the
producers which is much more than the others as they go up. Another reason for this could also be
because the organisms on the top are less hunted leaving

Life Is My Life
Life for me sucks. I m the one person at school that does not get avoided. But I say that in a bad way. I
walk down the halls and people are shoving me, throwing my stuff to the ground, and getting laughed
at. I would say that I get the most attention at this school. But there is also life at home. Every time I
come home my dad is drunk lying on the sofa watching sports. Then he tells me to clean up all of his
crap that he leaves every where along with doing all the others chores and homework. Yes, life for me
sucks. Our school has four bullies Ryan, Max, Jase, and John. They run that school. No one gets in
their way because if so you re done for. I m not alone though, in this sucky life. I share it with others
too. I m not the only one who gets picked on. I see others facing the same problems. Sometimes I feel
bad for the person who has taken my place. But majority of the time I am relieved that for once my
life doesn t suck as much as it could. Hey Kyle, Ryan smirked as he made his way towards me. Whats
this? An apple? Ryan questioned as he plucked the fruit from my hand, and in one smooth motion he
took a bite and hurled it across the room and barely missed the trash can on the other side of the room.
Well I don t know Ryan, what do you think it is? I replied with a boiling anger inside me. Don t talk

Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress
With two completely different settings and backgrounds, most people wouldn t associate the book
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie and the short story A Walk to the Jetty by
Jamaica Kincaid. But one aspect of their way of writing ties there styles together, which is the way
they use their minor characters. Dai Sijie and Jamaica Kincaid use minor characters to help develop
the major characters by teaching them important life lessons. The authors use the minor characters
such as Luo from Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress and Annie s parents, especially her mum,
from A Walk to the Jetty to introduce new perspectives to the major characters which in turn changes
the main characters attitudes and decisions.
In Balzac ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, there is obviously a change in personality and attitude of
the Little Seamstress as she is an uneducated girl from the countryside and she learnt one thing from
Balzac which completely changed her view of the way she lives compared to the way she deserves to
live. Luo states She said she learnt one thing from Balzac: that a woman s beauty is a treasure beyond
price (Sijie p.184). By the way that Luo treated her, and everyone treated her for her beauty, in
addition to the one thing she learnt from Balzac, she gets this sense of arrogance that she believes her
beauty alone can keep her alive and give her a much better life in the city than what she was living in
the countryside, where she was never properly educated to a level where she could read or write.
Again, although the two authors use similar techniques to create development in their main characters,
the way and purpose they use minor character are completely different. Annie believed that her mum
was a hypocrite and that she didn t really love Annie, just because her mum said she could never live
without Annie but she was keep trying to get Annie to go study abroad. This caused some confusion,
but later on when Annie had to leave for England and she was

Evaluation of Social Learning Theory
Evaluation of Social learning theory In this essay, I will try to evaluate Social learning theory as
originated by Albert Bandura. I am going to use three pieces of evidence, in a form of case studies,
which have been done previously to support or contradict Bandura s theory. I will demonstrate my
knowledge of these studies throughout their analysis, trying to highlight their strengths and
limitations. Albert Bandura, a 20th century American pszchologist, proposed a very important and
probably the most influential theory of development and learning. He believed that: Most human
behaviour is learned observationally through modelling: from observing others, one forms an idea of
how new behaviours are performed, and on later occasions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another point, perhaps the weakest of the study, is methodological shortcomings. Inflated Bobo doll,
is primarily designed to be hit down and bounce back up, so basically its purpose is being hit,
therefore when the children hit the doll, it didn t necessarily mean that they were imitating their role
models. This contradictory argument is supported by Kniverton and Stephenson found in 1970. On the
other hand, bearing all these limitations in mind, we can deduce that the role model did indeed have a
genuine effect on the child s observed reaction and imitation because all variables other than the
independent variable were well and tightly controlled. This finding is really useful, not purely because
it supports the theory of learning through observation, but mainly it demonstrates usefulness of
explaining real world situations, such as the influence of TV and actors on children (this is also
applicable to further development of social cognitive theory). Probably the biggest strength of this
theory is its high face validity. The idea that children would imitate other s behaviour is highly
probable, because we see it every day. But although there are some really strong supporting
arguments, that children actually imitate the behaviour, it

Growing a Garden in Death of a Salesman
Growing a Garden
In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller uses motifs and symbols to express some of the problems of the
main character, Willy. Miller motivates Willy to start a garden in the backyard of his apartment, even
though the garden won t grow. This showed Willy to be the type who does not accept defeat, as he
believes he can grow a garden, but to the reader, it s obvious that he can t. Although filled with the
desire to grow a garden in order to start anew, Willy is unable to do so due to his apartment and his
thoughts. To start off, Willy s inability to grow a garden is majorly due to the environment his
apartment is placed in. In this story, the apartment is a tool of symbolism used to develop the idea of
the modern world. The apartment that blocks the sun into his backyard limits Willy s ability to grow a
garden. This modern society shadows over his house, keeping the sun away, also keeping him in the
past. This leads to the way the modern world is run, and because it is different than what Willy can
handle, he cannot adapt to modern society. The modern world restricts Willy from starting anew, but
the irony being that not only does Willy not have the money to move on from his house and into a
place where he could grow a garden, he simply doesn t want to. He wishes to stay, but needs money to
pay off the house. His lack of money is expressed as Linda mentions for him not to forget to ask for a
little advance (53). What Linda is referring to is that Willy

Not everyone gets into the business as a quest to make some money. If you are just looking to turn

The War Over Territory On The Southern Border
Happiness is often mistaken for a simple concept at first glance, even though it is often responsible for
a human s actions, thoughts, and even perspective on numerous topics. Different social factors come
together from almost every portion of life, to create one s happiness ranking. A strategy like this can
be used by a single person, but it also has the ability to be used to analyze a certain place or country.
One country that s currently dealing with a significant amount of issues, is Lebanon. Many of the
social factors looked at as a source of happiness, are either missing or being threatened by radical
groups within the country. War over territory on the southern border has been a consistent problem
within the country for decades, leading to a significant amount of destruction and tension between the
Lebanese and their neighbors. Not to mention, many major cities like Beirut have been plagued by the
country s inability to properly remove waste and control the homeless population. Maybe the biggest
uproar taking place in Lebanon right now, is the youth unhappiness with religion and the impact it has
on society. On the other hand, the positives are not exactly where they should be. Lebanon has been
fortunate to have fertile land and great tourist destinations. On top of that, the country is still working
towards creating an equal playing field for both men and women. It has been a rather slow process,
but changes are coming. Even some of the industries within the country

The Recession Of The Great Recession
In 2007, the United States economy experienced a financial crisis known as the Great Recession,
which affected much of the world. It officially lasted from December 2007 to June 2009 and all began
with the bursting of an 8 trillion dollar housing bubble. A volatile mixture of financial market chaos
triggered by the housing bubble and low consumer spending left millions of Americans wondering
about their economic fate, the fate of their neighbors, and the fate of the nation.
The Great Recession, from 2007 2009, is the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression,
from 1929 1939. In spite of its currency, much of the world doesn t know what led up to the Great
Recession, let alone what caused it. This video simplifies the housing crisis and breaks down the key
factors that attributed to the downfall of the financial market. While the recession only lasted two
years, many are still feeling its effects.

Management Style At Arizona Central Credit Union
Organizational Management Approach Analysis
The management approach of any one organization is unique and varied based on the needs of the
business or the type of organization. When developing this management approach, in my opinion, it is
critical to adapt and to use many sources of knowledge to be successful. These sources of knowledge
can be traced to historical theories that have been developed throughout recent history, and are critical
to the understanding of how practical applications can be successfully used. It is also argued that
modern students of management do not have the practical understanding or awareness of these
historical theories because of the misguided curriculum and lack of interest (Cummings Bridgman,
2011). The purpose of this paper approaches some historical theories in comparison to the modern
management style within a credit union to demonstrate the use of these theories as a management tool.

Why Freight Brokers Need Formal Training
Why Freight Brokers Need Formal Training
Freight brokers are the logistical key between shippers and carriers. Being a freight broker is a
rewarding, but challenging career. However, you need a lot of skills and knowledge in order to
become a successful transportation broker. Keep reading to learn why freight brokers need formal
training.
Freight Brokerage 101
According to Entrepreneur magazine, there are legal requirements for anyone who starts a brokerage
business. For example, all new freight brokers must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA). This involves filing forms, paying fees, designating legal agents and
getting a $75,000 bond or trust fund. In addition to this, a small business owner will need to obtain a
local business license and a state operating permit. A training program will help the freight broker
understand these complex legal requirements. Keep in mind that any mistakes on these permits could
result in legal problems down the road.
Second, freight brokers must have financial training and management skills. For example, the bond or
trust fund must be established as part of the permit process. The purpose of this is to prove that the
freight broker is responsible and that they have access to money in order to pay any claims. However,
freight brokers who don t understand finances will have a hard time convincing clients, the bonding
company and even their own bank that they are competent. Freight broker training will

14th Dalai Lama Essay
According to The Washington Post website, China does not want Mongolia to allow the 14th Dalai
Lama, a Buddhist monk of Tibet, to come for a visit. China believes that the Dalai Lama, also known
as Tenzin Gyatso, has a purpose of separating Tibet and China. They do not want China to provide any
form of support for this spiritual leader. The article does state that Dalai Lama s has spoken up saying
that this visit is purely religious nature and no meetings with officials are planned. This event is
important because according to Geng Shuang, if Mongolia does not side with the China s Foreign
Ministry on not allowing the visit of Tenzin Gyatso, then it will likely affect the ties between the
neighboring countries of China and Mongolia.

My Personal Experience Of God

and my mother who was faithful for believing God in the Korean Methodist Church. For this reason, it
was natural for me to attend a Korean Methodist church. At that time, I did not know what the church
is doing and why I should attend the church, but what I learned about church was what I am redeemed

understanding God and God s love.
What is your understanding of humanity and the human need for divine grace? I believe that human
beings, who have the image of God, are the best creature in the world. Therefore, they can
instinctually recognize the existence of God and have capacities to choose somethings and to create
somethings creatively. For John Wesley, human beings are created by God in the image of God, which
means that they have similar characteristics to God. Scott J. Jones insists, we share God s nature in
that we are immortal spirits who have various divine capacities: understanding, freedom of the will,
and affections. In this view, in the beginning, the human beings have capacities not only to understand
God in the communication between God and them, but also to choose and do anything which they
want. However, at the Fall, their characteristics given by God became malfunctioned by Adam s
exploiting their free will not obey God, but disobey God, which generates the original sin. John
Wesley explains about this in his sermon The New Birth, The natural consequence of this is that

Professional Quality Tailor
Finding a professional quality tailor, is something which is important to do if you wish to be able to
buy clothes at affordable prices and then have them look like they cost a fortune. Normally, when you
buy something from the store which is off the rack and not bespoke for your body, you will find that
the fit just isn t quite right. You will either have it too long in the arms which means that you won t be
able to have your shirt cuffs showing. If you don t have your shirt cuffs showing then you will not
have that look which is really stylish and flashy and looks like James Bond.
Also you will not have the right fit in the body of the jacket if you buy from the store and just get
something off the rack. The good thing about buying off the rack is that you will be able to save a

Apostle Paul Contribution
Apostle Paul, using his Jewish heritage as clout, employs his Jewish education throughout his epistles
to further establish a personal connection with the community. He was trained as a Pharisee, which
indicates that he, at one point, spent a considerable amount of time in the city of Jerusalem.
Additionally, Pharisees were the most respected religious group and political party of the Holy Land.
The Pharisees were committed to the accurate interpretation of the [Jewish Scripture] and to
scrupulous obedience to its commands...[and] they aspired to a [high] level of purity (Trebilco 4).
After Paul s conversion to Christianity, it is clear that he regularly consulted and had extensive
knowledge of both the Greek and Hebrew Old Testaments. Paul s ability to cite Old Testament
passages in the Jewish native language displays his familiarity with their theological framework,
creating a religious connection and proving himself to be a trustworthy source of information. In
addition to applying his deeply rooted Jewish background to create kinship among the Jews, Paul was
heavily influenced by his Greek surroundings, and his Hellenistic background fostered Paul s ability to
deliver a new message to a new community, the Gentiles. Born in the Greco Roman city of Tarsus,
Paul received a traditional Greek education along with his conservative Jewish education. Greek
education consisted of grammatical instruction, rhetorical training, and an introduction to Greek

Body Modifications Are An Example Of External Cues
Impression formation begins immediately upon meeting someone or noticing him or her for the first.
People make a wide range of psychological judgments every single day and every time they see some
one, typically regarding a person s traits, moods, personality, and psychological states. People
typically base these judgments off of stereotypes, scripts, and other person relevant information,
which generally leads to the judgments being somewhat inaccurate. Despite this, people continue to
intentionally and unintentionally use external cues to establish first impressions and opinions within
the first few seconds of seeing someone for the first time, and then make perceptions about his or her

As with every industry and business, there is competition. In the case of the craft beer industry, the
competition is medium and growing. From challenging the big macro breweries, to battling against
new incoming brewery businesses, the craft beer industry is absolutely on the radar for competition.
Macro breweries are still the largest competitors with craft breweries. The major player in the craft
beer industry, according to IBISWorld, is The Boston Beer Company. It holds a market share in the
overall beer industry of only 2.7%, and a revenue of $885.5 million in 2014. In comparison to the
major players in the overall beer industry, Anheuser Busch InBev and MillerCoors ... Show more

If consumers prefer a specific beer and keep asking for it at bars, which only have a specific amount
of taps, will put that beer on more often to suit the increased demand. This makes the beer and the
brewery more popular, all the while intensifying the rivalry for bar space.
Suppliers:
The suppliers for craft beer include the source of the ingredients and the source of the materials used
in production. The craft beer industry relies on responsible, dependable, fresh supplies from different
industries to make production and distribution possible. The suppliers for production include various
industries for the basic ingredients; wheat, barley, soybean, corn, yeast, malt, nuts, sugar and water.
Other suppliers for distribution include the packaging industry, which consists of aluminum, glass,
cardboard, and containers. Smaller companies face a financial barrier here when attempting to make
flavorful beers that require high priced raw materials.
The lofty prices of high quality ingredients often act as a barrier to newcomers seeking to establish a
niche in the market. Lastly, the printing industry also plays a role as a supplier by printing labels. Due
to the uniqueness craft brewing methods, not all batches turn out the same, so the industry may have
to charge higher prices based on the cost of production. Since each craft beer style has a unique
measuring and brewing method, there is a large variety

Essay about High Stakes Testing
High Stakes Testing
In 1997, President Bill Clinton stated that the United States needed, a national crusade for education
standards not federal government standards, but national standards, representing what all our students
must know to succeed in the knowledge economy of the twenty first century
(http://books.nap.edu/books/0309062802/html/13.html). The way to succeed in this journey is through
standardized testing that results in consequences for teachers and students.
Throughout this paper, I will be discussing how important high stakes testing is to our country. First, I
will show how these tests prevent students from moving on to the next grade level or graduate without
the skills necessary. Secondly, I will discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of 91,000 students tested overall, almost 26,000 failed. After summer school, 15 percent, 13
percent, and 8 percent of students were retained at the three grade levels (Chicago Public Schools,
1998a)(http://books.nap.edu/books/0309062802/html/116.html).
High stakes testing also improves students achievement. Eugene Watts, Ohio s State Senator, discusses
a new exam that will be required for high school graduation starting in September of 2004. It is a
tribute to the process we have established that Ohio was one of only three states to receive a grade of
A by the Fordman Foundation in its appraisal of math standards in 1998. Ohio s model math standards
also have the highest rating by the American Federation of Teachers and a grade of B+ for the level of
rigor in a review of state standards in 1998 by the Council of Basic Education. Before proficiency
testing, Ohio schools were graduating students with second grade math skills and fourth grade reading
levels (http://www.enc.org/topics/ assessment/testing/document.shtm?input=FOC 001574 index). The
students of Ohio were given a challenge, and they not only lived up to the standards, they surpassed
them! This is the kind of attitude all students need to have towards school, and high stakes testing is
just the incentive they need. The AIMS test in Arizona will be required to graduate in the year 2008,
and the Arizona Department of Education feels that

Military Customs
Military Customs and Courtesies In the Army and throughout every branch there are certain customs
and courtesies that every soldier and military member must follow in order for there to be order and
discipline on a daily basis. Customs and courtesies are put in to place to show respect for Non
Commissioned Officers and for Officers of all rank. In this essay, I will be writing about the
importance of salutes, standing at the correct position when talking to someone higher ranking than
yourself, using proper language when talking to someone of a higher rank, where you should walk
when walking with someone of a higher rank, as well as other customs and courtesies you find
throughout the army and all other branches. A custom is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Salutes are not required when you are indoors unless you are reporting to an officer or when on guard
duty or when saluting is obviously inappropriate. It is important to show noncommissioned officers
respect as well. You do not salute them; you stand at parade rest when talking to them and address
them by their proper rank. The ranks you say when speaking to a noncommissioned officer are
Corporal, sergeant, master sergeant, first sergeant and sergeant major. When talking to an NCO, you
always finish your sentence with his or her rank. Here is an example: I do not know the answer but I
will find out and let you know Sergeant. It is simple and easy to remember for most soldiers, while
other soldiers need to remind themselves constantly to do this. Another military custom from ancient
times states that you should always sit or walk to the left of your superiors. This custom came about in
old English times and stems from very old English tradition. The right is known as the position of
honor. Most people are right handed and back in the time of knights, the majority of knights would
hold their sword in their right now and their shield in their left hand.

Social Disengagement Theory Analysis
The theory of geotranscendence was developed in 1994 by Swedish sociologist Lars Tornstam. The
concept is a positive one, used to refer to the individual in the process of becoming more mature. It
views aging in direct correlation with a growing sense of independence and the acknowledgment of
personal desires. Here, the act of disengaging is entirely voluntary, and results in greater opportunity
for social interaction outside of the family unit. In comparison, Elaine Cumming s disengagement
theory suggests that it accompanies old age. She wrote that it is both normal and inevitable for people
to decrease their activity and seek more passive roles as they age. (Hillier Barrow, 2015, p. 82). So, in
this case, disengagement is a two way operation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The former is in reference to a social rule that requires that we return a favor with a favor, obvious by
the prefix of the word itself. The norm of beneficence holds that we act out of loyalty to the benefit of
the recipient, with no expectation for exchange. Picture a parent(s) who takes there child back in after
he or she chose moved out as an act of rebellion. In this case, it may not be that they want to bail their
child out, but because they see it as their role as a parent. Lastly, there is a kind of relationship that
provides a mutual benefit to all those involved known as the norm of equity. This is something we
refer to in science as mutualism, and is an excellent example of what is being described here. Now,
focusing on the idea of a role , introduced in my second example, Hillier Barrow (2015) define it as a
status or position which carries out attributes. And, as we grow older, our roles change; as mothers, we
become grandmothers, and so on across generations. In effect, so too are our responsibilities altered,
becoming less and less over the course of

Persuasive Essay On The Nuclear Bomb
With World War II escalating, the United States agreed to use the world s first nuclear bomb to end the
chaos. Tensions were rising as the western hemisphere finally unraveled the gruesome techniques
Hitler practiced on Jews. As Schweitzer concluded, Hitler and the Nazis replaced the organismic
theory of states with the racial theory of peoples (Schweitzer 61). To prevent more abuse from
happening with Hitler in charge, the United States decided to take action. After Pearl Harbor, the
Japanese, who are allies with Germany, were seen as the major threat to the United States.
Imprisonment were placed on the Japanese as a way to monitor and prevent Japanese influenced
attacks. These actions were brought upon by President Franklin D. Roosevelt shortly after Peal
Harbor. As an act to end the war and to get revenge on Pearl Harbor, the United States attacked Japan
on August 6th, 1945. Hiroshima was the first target because it had been untouched during the United
State s Air Force bombing raids and was a vulnerable military base for the bomb to be tested. On a
quiet Monday morning at 8:15 a.m., the nuclear bomb often recalled as the little boy was dropped on
western Japan. Young estimated that about 68,000 people died and 72,000 were wounded making
World War II one of the bloodiest war in history (Young 14). Taking over 140,000 lives at Hiroshima,
the first nuclear bomb proved to be devastating; three days later Nagasaki gets shattered with a nuclear
bomb. On August 9th,

Marcus Mosiah Garvey, the Visionary Who is arguably the father of 20th century Black Nationalism?
Some may think of the leader W.E.B. Dubois or even Malcolm X as being the father. Truth be told, the
term Black Nationalism boils down to one person. Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jr is his name. He was the
youngest of eleven children and born on August 17, 1887 in St, Ann s Bay Jamaica. His parents were
Marcus Garvey, Sr and Sarah Jane Richards. Marcus Garvey s father was strict and abusive, but

To outside peers, UNIA was a beacon of hope in the black community. Garvey s UNIA showcased
Black excellence in black communities in America. He showed blacks, they were important and
certainly could prosper that day in age. Garvey was dedicated to helping the black race and it was
evident. His intentions were good, but his execution was poor. Many times, Garvey s ego was his
greatest stumbling block. It got in the way of his decision making abilities, which led to poor
performance. His vision was for blacks all over the world to board his ships and reclaim their place
back in Africa. Some of his ideas and actions over time were questioned by other leaders. Leeuwen
states, He met with a prominent leader of the Ku Klux Klan in Atlanta in 1922 to discuss their views
on miscegenation and social equality. That meeting only gave more fuel to his critics. In 1924 DuBois
claimed that Marcus Garvey is the most dangerous enemy of the Negro race in America and in the
world. Owen and Randolph, whose paper saw the race issue as one of class more than skin color,
called Garvey the messenger boy of the Klan and a Supreme Negro Jamaican jackass In result of
Garvey s poor management skills, he would hire people with no

  • 2. Digital Technology Effects Digital Technology and The Effects on Human Health Nicholas Reott Kaplan University CM 107: College Composition I Professor Lee August 15, 2017 Digital Technology and the Effects on Human Health In this growing and advanced society, modern technology can ultimately play a significant role in advancing our chosen professions. Presently, the world has been made much more accessible by modern technology. It is now possible to stay in constant contact with everyone around and work in areas that were unimaginable just a few short years ago. However, the constant use of this technology comes at a cost. Increased use of digital technology and current exposure to electronic fields coming from wi fi and other digital devices such as laptops, cellphones, and iPads can negatively affect humans mental and emotional health as well as social interaction skills; many of the increased health problems suffered these days are also the result of an inappropriate use of medical technology. In recent years, it seems like digital technology has slowly changed people mentally, while on one side it feeds them with knowledge, and on the other side it negatively affects people s mental and emotional health. For instance, some people have become over reliant on their technological devices, to the point that it would take control of their lives, creating stressful situations and affecting their emotional health. On an emotional level, most of the younger generations want instant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Fight Against Institutionalized Homophobia Life is hard. There are over seven billion people in the world and each one of us are different; we vary through our physical appearances our skin from the deepest ebony to the palest porcelain, our eyes can be akin to the chill in our bones or the darkest entropy behind our eyes. It isn t all physical, of course. As people, we range in intelligence, religion (or lack thereof), even our sexual preferences we are individuals. With so much variety, there is simply a basic need to have rights to express ourselves, to be ourselves without persecution. We require equal rights with fair treatment of everyone. Long battles have been fought from the beginning of human civilization, but we re not done yet. In the supposed Land of the Free where man, woman, and everything in between are supposed to stand united, marrying someone of the same sex is a very controversial topic among many due to institutionalized homophobia, something which had continually delayed the legalization... Until June of 2015. The general topic of same sex marriage often brings up a couple points, including whether or not marriage is a right and that activists are fighting a fight that doesn t need to be fought. Frankly, this is bigotry either brought on through ignorance or plain blindness. Don t get me wrong, though. The right to marry a person of the same sex or gender is not a right in the same way that freedom of speech or religion and in no way am I implying that it is; marriage itself is a civil ... • 4. The Discovery Of Crude Oil And Oil Prices Introduction Agricultural production which used to be the mainstay of Nigerian economy has been declined as results of crude oil discovery and subsequent increase in production and exportation of crude oil (Edo (2013). The discovery of crude oil and appreciation of oil price in the World market some years ago leads Nigerian government to abandon all other means of revenue generations including agriculture, just to depend solely on crude oil revenue to finance most of her budgets. However, crude oil exports are no longer sustaining the economy due to current downturn in crude oil price. For instance, the Nigerian government generated lots of revenues from crude oil exports but majority of her populations are still under the poverty line (Shaxson, 2005). Therefore, there is need to source revenue generations through other means. Among those means of revenue generation is through increase in agriculture production and exportation. But the sector needs massive overhaul and developments in order to yield fruitful results. Developments of agricultural sector will require serious investments in the sector, which is done properly, will improve export revenues in country through an increase in agriculture output and exportation. This therefore calls for an urgent need to assist farmers with capitals, improved and hybrid crops and livestock, and subsidize agricultural inputs which in effect will increase agricultural yields (Jerven, 2014). For instance, in many developing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Roles Of Women In Ancient Greek Society Women s Place in Ancient Greek Society Women in antiquity did not have an easy life. In an era where man rules, women have limited freedom and few rights. Women s roles differed little from Rome, Egypt, and China. There were few exceptions: women living in the city of Sparta had some nobility and rose to power, for example, Athena, the goddess of wisdom and military victory. Besides those above, women of that era were limited to an education, mobility, and their roles was housewives and childbearing. Women had little time to involve herself in the political goings on in that era. A woman s fate was controlled by the father and passed down to the husband afterwards. Women of the antiquity were married in their early teens to older husbands. The marriages were arranged by the Father s bride and often the bride did not meet the husband until marriage details had been worked out. Virginity was valuable for women in antiquity, as well loyalty and fidelity. For a woman to divorce it needed the permission from a male member of the family (the father). Women were not allowed to own land or dispose property as she pleases. Also, they are prohibited to participate in politics, buy goods or sell services. Men believed women only cause despair, chaos, and confused situations even more, that they are incapable of decision making Jepherson 2 and understanding politics. • 6. What Does Coming Of Age Mean In To Kill A Mockingbird Growing up is an ability the human species were blessed and cursed with. It comes with aging, aching bodies and a greater awareness of the world. And yet, growing up also comes with an opportunity for us to invent an entirely new version of ourselves. We re always changing, but the first drastic change in our lives is the coming of age. It s something that signifies your shift from adolescence to adulthood. However, coming of age is more than just another transition of your life. It s also about the life events and lessons that will stay with you as one matures. This monumental change in our existence has been found in countless numbers of stories. But, one remarkable example is a novel titled To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In the classic ... However, Jem threw the gift on the ground while screaming old hell devil, old hell devil (148). It could be argued that he thought that Dubose was mocking him even after death. He had such a horrible image of her that he didn t even consider that this gift was supposed to be a sign of forgiveness. It seemed that Atticus understood her true intentions and explained that it was her way of telling (him) that everything s all right now, ...everything s all right (149). If the audience combines Atticus s explanation and the scene where Jem destroyed the garden, it s clear that Mrs. Dubose had a positive motive. The garden was her prized possession, which explains why he had to pay her back by reading to her for an entire month. Dubose just wanted to give Jem something that was extremely significant to her. As mentioned before, the tone of the excerpt in the beginning was a way to show Dubose s malicious side. But with this flower, Jem and the readers saw this new perspective of Dubose as a person. By only knowing her unpleasant demeanor, we wouldn t predict that Mrs. Dubose would show this sign of compassion. Therefore, this symbol of forgiveness depicts the life lesson that there s more to a person than what you are able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I now have a new work out that I love doing and will continue to do well into the future. For my weekly goals, I did meet them most weeks however, there were some weeks where I felt I did not reach the goal I set for myself. That was to be expected so it never derailed my motivation when I came up short on my goals. I did meet all of my long term goal. In the end I gained more flexibility while still improving my strength and maintain my body composition. I also found a workout that I enjoy doing which distresses and relaxes me. The only change that needs to be made to continue my progress is that I need to devote more time to working on my flexibility, even more than I already do. Whenever I have free time I should spend 15 20 minutes working on my flexibility so that I can eventually get to where I want to be. Before, once I finished my yoga workouts for the week is was sometimes hard to find the motivation to work on my flexibility during my down time. That is now something I would like to change. The only real substitute is to buy all the functions of a mobile phone in the individual products, which would not be plausible to carry all around on a person at the same time. It is hard to be replaced for a different product, since it covers so many different needs. MOST ATTRACTIVE FACTOR OF THE 5 FORCES MODEL We believe that the most attractive factor in the microenvironment of the mobile phone industry is the threat of substitutes. As we have said above, the mobile phone does not have a real substitute since it offers a huge range of services and functions in just one device, and there are no other products that can offer these characteristics. The importance of communications today, has made the mobile phone a basic need for everyone, and the possibility of being in contact with the world at any time or place is a function offered exclusively by mobile phones. Both of the reasons explained above make this industry highly profitable and attractive for potential companies. LESS ATTRACTIVE FACTOR FOR THE FIVE FORCES MODEL After having analysed all the factors we have concluded that the less attractive factor is the powers of buyers for the cell phone industry. This is due to the fact that there are a lot of choices for customers when buying a mobile phone (high rivalry). The lack of a full time DAO to provide assistance to the family or next of kin (NOK) is stressful and emotionally draining on the individual. This can take anywhere from 10 days to several weeks depending on the circumstances of the members death. The view is a reflection of society s radical change from a rural agricultural base to one more impersonally based on centralized urban industry employing great numbers of people. The first changes began in the late 1600 s and early 1700 s with rudimentary machines replacing manual labor or accomplishing things not previously possible because of size, weight, or sheer numbers. Mechanistic structures are designed to induce people to behave in predictable, accountable ways. Decision making authority is centralized, subordinates are closely supervised, and information flows mainly in a vertical direction down a clearly defined hierarchy. In a mechanistic structure the tasks associated with a role are also clearly defined. There is usually a one to one correspondence between a person and a task (figure 1 depicts this). Each person is individually specialized and knows exactly what he or she is responsible for, and behavior inappropriate to the role is discouraged or prohibited. The mechanistic structure is the traditional or classical design, common in many medium and large size organizations. Mechanistic organizations are somewhat rigid in that they consist of very clearly delineated jobs, have a well defined hierarchical structure, and rely heavily on the formal chain of command for control. Bureaucratic organizations, with their emphasis on formalization, are the primary form of mechanistic structures. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is a form of organization characterized by a rational, goal directed hierarchy, impersonal decision making, formal controls, and subdivision into managerial positions and specialization of labor. But one aspect of their way of writing ties there styles together, which is the way they use their minor characters. Dai Sijie and Jamaica Kincaid use minor characters to help develop the major characters by teaching them important life lessons. In Balzac ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, there is obviously a change in personality and attitude of the Little Seamstress as she is an uneducated girl from the countryside and she learnt one thing from Balzac which completely changed her view of the way she lives compared to the way she deserves to live. Luo states She said she learnt one thing from Balzac: that a woman s beauty is a treasure beyond price (Sijie p.184). By the way that Luo treated her, and everyone treated her for her beauty, in addition to the one thing she learnt from Balzac, she gets this sense of arrogance that she believes her beauty alone can keep her alive and give her a much better life in the city than what she was living in the countryside, where she was never properly educated to a level where she could read or write. Again, although the two authors use similar techniques to create development in their main characters, the way and purpose they use minor character are completely different. • 28. Evaluation of Social Learning Theory Evaluation of Social learning theory In this essay, I will try to evaluate Social learning theory as originated by Albert Bandura. I am going to use three pieces of evidence, in a form of case studies, which have been done previously to support or contradict Bandura s theory. I will demonstrate my knowledge of these studies throughout their analysis, trying to highlight their strengths and limitations. Albert Bandura, a 20th century American pszchologist, proposed a very important and probably the most influential theory of development and learning. He believed that: Most human behaviour is learned observationally through modelling: from observing others, one forms an idea of how new behaviours are performed, and on later occasions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another point, perhaps the weakest of the study, is methodological shortcomings. Inflated Bobo doll, is primarily designed to be hit down and bounce back up, so basically its purpose is being hit, therefore when the children hit the doll, it didn t necessarily mean that they were imitating their role models. This contradictory argument is supported by Kniverton and Stephenson found in 1970. On the other hand, bearing all these limitations in mind, we can deduce that the role model did indeed have a genuine effect on the child s observed reaction and imitation because all variables other than the independent variable were well and tightly controlled. This finding is really useful, not purely because it supports the theory of learning through observation, but mainly it demonstrates usefulness of explaining real world situations, such as the influence of TV and actors on children (this is also applicable to further development of social cognitive theory). Probably the biggest strength of this theory is its high face validity. The idea that children would imitate other s behaviour is highly probable, because we see it every day. But although there are some really strong supporting arguments, that children actually imitate the behaviour, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Growing a Garden in Death of a Salesman Growing a Garden In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller uses motifs and symbols to express some of the problems of the main character, Willy. Miller motivates Willy to start a garden in the backyard of his apartment, even though the garden won t grow. This showed Willy to be the type who does not accept defeat, as he believes he can grow a garden, but to the reader, it s obvious that he can t. Although filled with the desire to grow a garden in order to start anew, Willy is unable to do so due to his apartment and his thoughts. To start off, Willy s inability to grow a garden is majorly due to the environment his apartment is placed in. In this story, the apartment is a tool of symbolism used to develop the idea of the modern world. The apartment that blocks the sun into his backyard limits Willy s ability to grow a garden. This modern society shadows over his house, keeping the sun away, also keeping him in the past. This leads to the way the modern world is run, and because it is different than what Willy can handle, he cannot adapt to modern society. The modern world restricts Willy from starting anew, but the irony being that not only does Willy not have the money to move on from his house and into a place where he could grow a garden, he simply doesn t want to. He wishes to stay, but needs money to pay off the house. His lack of money is expressed as Linda mentions for him not to forget to ask for a little advance (53). These sources of knowledge can be traced to historical theories that have been developed throughout recent history, and are critical to the understanding of how practical applications can be successfully used. In addition to applying his deeply rooted Jewish background to create kinship among the Jews, Paul was heavily influenced by his Greek surroundings, and his Hellenistic background fostered Paul s ability to deliver a new message to a new community, the Gentiles. Born in the Greco Roman city of Tarsus, Paul received a traditional Greek education along with his conservative Jewish education. Greek education consisted of grammatical instruction, rhetorical training, and an introduction to Greek literature, all of which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Brother Larry Hample Introduction The United States is a giant melting pot with many different cultures and races and people coming from all walks of life. As a counselor, it is important to be able to be competent in a variety of cultures to be effective. Being cultural competent means having the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to function effectively with culturally diverse populations (Sue Sue, 2016). This project required immersing in a culture that is different from your own. I was allowed the opportunity to experience being the only one in a culture that is different from what I am used to. Albany Rescue Mission Larry Hample came to Albany in 1960 after he was stationed at Turner Air Base. After seeing all the people without homes on the streets, he felt an overwhelming sense of sympathy and compassion (Our History, n.d.). Larry, also known as Brother Larry, knew he had to do something about it. That is when he started the Albany Rescue Mission. The Albany Rescue Mission houses homeless men, women, and children and feeds thousands of meals to the homeless each month. Brother Larry was a part of the music business until 1999 where he ... People make a wide range of psychological judgments every single day and every time they see some one, typically regarding a person s traits, moods, personality, and psychological states. People typically base these judgments off of stereotypes, scripts, and other person relevant information, which generally leads to the judgments being somewhat inaccurate. Despite this, people continue to intentionally and unintentionally use external cues to establish first impressions and opinions within the first few seconds of seeing someone for the first time, and then make perceptions about his or her potential personality and/or lifestyle. (2012), investigated how facial piercings could or could not affect ratings of physical attractiveness and intelligence. Previous research regarding this subject has had several limitations such as small samples and limited age of participants, specifically undergraduate students. The goal of the investigators in this study was to build on previous experiments and overcome previous limitations by recruiting a large, general population sample as the participants for this experiment. Researchers recruited 440 participants for this study, 230 women and 210 men, from a southern German speaking area of Europe. All of the participants in the study were Caucasian and a majority of the participants were in a relationship, Christian, and had completed secondary education. It is also important to note that 19.8% of the sample had a body piercing other than the ear lobe. Ultimately, the researchers wanted to explore how facial piercings and observer personality affected perceptions of physical attractiveness and intelligence To discover the traits of the participants, the participants were given personality tests to discover their scores for the Big Five personality traits, otherwise known as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability. In the case of the craft beer industry, the competition is medium and growing. From challenging the big macro breweries, to battling against new incoming brewery businesses, the craft beer industry is absolutely on the radar for competition. Macro breweries are still the largest competitors with craft breweries. The major player in the craft beer industry, according to IBISWorld, is The Boston Beer Company. It holds a market share in the overall beer industry of only 2.7%, and a revenue of $885.5 million in 2014. If consumers prefer a specific beer and keep asking for it at bars, which only have a specific amount of taps, will put that beer on more often to suit the increased demand. This makes the beer and the brewery more popular, all the while intensifying the rivalry for bar space. Suppliers: The suppliers for craft beer include the source of the ingredients and the source of the materials used in production. The craft beer industry relies on responsible, dependable, fresh supplies from different industries to make production and distribution possible. The suppliers for production include various industries for the basic ingredients; wheat, barley, soybean, corn, yeast, malt, nuts, sugar and water. Other suppliers for distribution include the packaging industry, which consists of aluminum, glass, cardboard, and containers. Smaller companies face a financial barrier here when attempting to make flavorful beers that require high priced raw materials. The lofty prices of high quality ingredients often act as a barrier to newcomers seeking to establish a niche in the market. Lastly, the printing industry also plays a role as a supplier by printing labels. Due to the uniqueness craft brewing methods, not all batches turn out the same, so the industry may have to charge higher prices based on the cost of production. • 44. Essay about High Stakes Testing High Stakes Testing In 1997, President Bill Clinton stated that the United States needed, a national crusade for education standards not federal government standards, but national standards, representing what all our students must know to succeed in the knowledge economy of the twenty first century (http://books.nap.edu/books/0309062802/html/13.html). The way to succeed in this journey is through standardized testing that results in consequences for teachers and students. Throughout this paper, I will be discussing how important high stakes testing is to our country. First, I will show how these tests prevent students from moving on to the next grade level or graduate without the skills necessary. Secondly, I will discuss ... High stakes testing also improves students achievement. Eugene Watts, Ohio s State Senator, discusses a new exam that will be required for high school graduation starting in September of 2004. It is a tribute to the process we have established that Ohio was one of only three states to receive a grade of A by the Fordman Foundation in its appraisal of math standards in 1998. Ohio s model math standards also have the highest rating by the American Federation of Teachers and a grade of B+ for the level of rigor in a review of state standards in 1998 by the Council of Basic Education. Before proficiency testing, Ohio schools were graduating students with second grade math skills and fourth grade reading levels (http://www.enc.org/topics/ assessment/testing/document.shtm?input=FOC 001574 index). The students of Ohio were given a challenge, and they not only lived up to the standards, they surpassed them! This is the kind of attitude all students need to have towards school, and high stakes testing is just the incentive they need. • 46. Social Disengagement Theory Analysis The theory of geotranscendence was developed in 1994 by Swedish sociologist Lars Tornstam. The concept is a positive one, used to refer to the individual in the process of becoming more mature. It views aging in direct correlation with a growing sense of independence and the acknowledgment of personal desires. Here, the act of disengaging is entirely voluntary, and results in greater opportunity for social interaction outside of the family unit. In comparison, Elaine Cumming s disengagement theory suggests that it accompanies old age. She wrote that it is both normal and inevitable for people to decrease their activity and seek more passive roles as they age. (Hillier Barrow, 2015, p. 82). So, in this case, disengagement is a two way operation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, it may not be that they want to bail their child out, but because they see it as their role as a parent. Lastly, there is a kind of relationship that provides a mutual benefit to all those involved known as the norm of equity. This is something we refer to in science as mutualism, and is an excellent example of what is being described here. Tensions were rising as the western hemisphere finally unraveled the gruesome techniques Hitler practiced on Jews. As Schweitzer concluded, Hitler and the Nazis replaced the organismic theory of states with the racial theory of peoples (Schweitzer 61). To prevent more abuse from happening with Hitler in charge, the United States decided to take action. After Pearl Harbor, the Japanese, who are allies with Germany, were seen as the major threat to the United States. Imprisonment were placed on the Japanese as a way to monitor and prevent Japanese influenced attacks. These actions were brought upon by President Franklin D. Roosevelt shortly after Peal Harbor. As an act to end the war and to get revenge on Pearl Harbor, the United States attacked Japan on August 6th, 1945. Hiroshima was the first target because it had been untouched during the United State s Air Force bombing raids and was a vulnerable military base for the bomb to be tested.
