The Dunedin Public Art Gallery
The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is currently showcasing the Private Utopia exhibition. It holds 85
works by 25 artists of Contemporary Art from the British Council Collection. The exhibition displays
artistic production from the last two decades, by artists who came to prominence in the mid 1990s and
also emerging artists of the present. Such as Sarah Lucas, Cornelia Parker, Marcus Coates, Laura
Lancaster, Tracey Emin, Roger Hiorns and many more. These artists contribute to the five threads that
are presented in the exhibition. These practises include humour and the uncanny in the everyday,
storytelling and narrative, identity and society, real and imagined landscapes and the appropriation of
styles, subjects and ready made materials. Overall the exhibition prevails a wide range of confronting
and reflective themes. It shows the nature of Modern Art in Britain today and also includes aspects of
music culture, social history and anthropology.
Roger Hiorns prominently contributes to the themes showcased in the Private Utopia exhibition and
demonstrates the broadening definition of what art can be. Hiorns was born in 1975 in Birmingham,
England and currently still lives there. He studied at University of London Goldsmiths College and
Bourneville College of Art. He was also nominated for a Turner Prize in 2009. Hiorns is sculpture and
instillation artist. His primary interest is to manipulate materials or to make them react in unexpected
ways. By using materials he creates

Using The Group Membership Method Resemble Those Found By...
Results in the present study produced using the group membership method resemble those found by
Lusseau et al. (2003) in which the Doubtful Sound population could be divided into three sub groups.
The composition of groups however is somewhat different. This is in part due to different individuals
being present / alive during their study than in the current study. Where all individuals present in both
studies are placed across all three defined groups in Lusseau et al. s (2003) study, all but Kringel fall
into the same single group in the present study. This suggests that, while the overall sub group
structure may have been maintained over time, there is a degree of fluidity among members of sub
groups. This is the very nature of a fission fusion society, where group composition is dynamic over
time (Grellier et al. 2003). The three sub groups may be an apparently permanent feature of the
population when using the group membership method, with the fission fusion nature of bottlenose
dolphins defining the composition of each group through time. It must be noted however that Lusseau
et al. s (2003) study was over a period of seven years, where 546 days were spent on the water. Due to
the immense differences in field effort, direct comparisons are made with caution. Previous pilot
work, which spanned only 6 days, also yielded similar results using the group membership method.
The seven sub groups defined for the whole population using indices from the time based method

Reflection Paper On Narcissism
Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that I am
writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most people
cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality is what
created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a narcissist, my
favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is extremely incredible that
what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is with and what the specific
circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the negative things she has done in her
past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissism I have been sure to include an entire
chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered an objective personality type.
Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation surrounding it which is ironic to be
because there are positive attributes some of which many of us share.
The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main
personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which is
why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are
narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must welcome
diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of personalities in a
workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of abrasive and
narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to maintaining the
abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the room who may have the
leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right opportunity to do so. If a high
achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a catalyst for his/her management of the
group.
If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success within
the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success,

Analysis Of Madeline Edad s Sunrise Model
Madeline Leininger s sunrise model was first developed in 1976, she calls it a trans cultural health
model. It includes major social and cultural factors influencing individual perspective of health care
systems. The model is designed to provides a guidance for the study and analysis of the major
variables found within different cultures in order to obtain a trans cultural heath care perspective of
health illness systems ( Leininger,1976). The 1976 model consisted of two major categories: levels of
analysis and major domains of study and analysis. Four different levels of analysis and corresponding
domains of study were included. Level one analysis of social structure features and the domain
associated with this level were political, economic, social, cultural, technological, educational,
demographic, and environment factors. Level two was analysis of cultural values and health care. The
domains associated with level two include dominant cultural values and health care values. Level
three analysis of health care system and its typologies. Major domains of study associated with this
level included folk and professional health systems. Level four analysis focuses on role and function
of health professionals. Domains of study included role responsibility and functions. Later on for the
next decade, Leininge presented multiple models for use in studying trans cultural and ethno caring
concepts building upon this original model. But I like this one the most because I feel that

Potatoes Are Graded In America Essay
From my research on how potatoes are graded in America, I have learned that the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) established and enforce the grading. The USDA has been
enforcing and updating the quality grading system for all foods since 1862. The last time the quality
grading system for potatoes was updated was in June of 2011. The system in place currently grades
potatoes on the following information: shape, firmness, appearance, size, color, and being free from:
soft rot, wet breakdown, blackheart, freezing, blight, scabs, rhizoctonia, and physical damage or
foreign matter. Although there are three grades for potatoes available for purchase due to the USDA s
grading scale, all potatoes sold in the US must fall into this scale. ... Show more content on

The grades of potatoes are U.S. No. 1, and U.S. Commercial, U.S. No. 2. All grades of potatoes are fit
for consumption, the only difference between them is how they appear, and if they are free of any of
the problems listed above. With that being said, there is a market for each of the different grades of
potatoes and different ways they can be used in the culinary field. The best potatoes available to be
purchased are the U.S. No. 1 grade, this is due to their top quality in the quality grading scale. These
potatoes are free of any imperfections and exceed in every aspect of the quality grading system. This
grade of potatoes is costs the most due to exceeding the grading system. Due to the set grade, these
potatoes can meet the required specification of even the strictest restaurant or individual, making them
the ideal choice of potatoes for quality. The U.S. Commercial grade potatoes, are similar to the U.S.
No. 1 potatoes, except they do not fully pass the necessary quality grading scale to be considered
ideal. This grade however, is used by both the average consumer and restaurants, as it this grade is less
expensive than the No. 1 grade. Commercial grade potatoes are the most commonly used potato in
restaurants across America, this is due to how inexpensive they are, for the quality they

Ap Euro Chapter 9 Questions And Answers
Part I Questions
1.) The three calamities in Chapter 9 are the Hundred Years War, the Black Death, and the Great
Schism. The Hundred Years War, from 1337 to 1453, began when the English king Edward III
believed he was the true heir to the French throne. In addition, England owned territories in France,
which the French disliked. Furthermore, England and France both wanted possession of Flanders, a
French fief dependent on England. At first the English had the upper hand and even had a English king
on the French throne, courtesy of the Treaty of Troyes. However, the tides turned when Joan of Arc
was able to retrieve Orléans and rose French spirits to win a series of victories. The bubonic plague,

many were either of nobility or lower clergy and the poor.
Conciliar Theory: The Conciliar Theory was the idea of making a church where a council could
regulate the actions of the pope. Advocates of this theory believed there should be one pope that keeps
the church well and united.
Black Death: The Black Death, also known as bubonic plague, was introduced to Europe overseas by
rats and was known as the Black Death due to it causing discoloration to the body. It targets the lungs
and can spread from person to person by way of coughing or sneezing. It caused many deaths and
greatly reduced the population of Europe.

Snow Is All Grown Up
Snow was all grown up, she became exceedingly beautiful with her long black hair, pale smooth skin
and glistering red cheeks. Her father loved and spoiled her immensely, he d buy her all the china dolls
she adored to complete her collection. Her father had remarried to a tall, beautiful blonde granting
Snow a stepmother when she was only 7 years old. They had met at a business conference in New
York and instantly fell in love. At the age of 17 years old, the stepmother s envy and jealousy started
growing stronger towards Snow as Snow got everything she desired and took the spotlight. The
stepmother took a glance in the mirror and began talking to herself, I m the fairest of them all, not
Snow as she continued to stare, she noticed the room getting darker, the wrinkles on her face grew
more visible and she noticed liver spots emerging on her arms. She thought to herself, Snow must go,
there s only room for one dominant gem in this household . The mirrors became the stepmother s drug
because they were her gateway keeper that guided her decision making ultimately, triggering her
jealousy and hatred towards the poor and innocent Snow.
One day, a letter showed up in their mailbox from an unknown person that was addressed for Snow.
The evil stepmother opened the letter and her eyes immediately wandered to the bottom of the letter
where it read: from yours truly, your mother. The evil stepmother was shocked because she thought

To What Extent Has Modern Liberalism Departed from the...
To what extent has modern liberalism departed from the ideas of classical liberalism?
The further development of industrialisation led to social and economic inequality. This led to a
revision of classical liberal ideas to prevent the spread of ignorance and poverty. It is suggested that
modern liberals have betrayed classical liberal ideas as they embrace collectivism and diverge from
classical liberalism on issues such as freedom. However, it can be argued that modern liberals have
simply built on classical liberal ideas such as its commitment to the individual.
One area in which it is suggested that modern liberalism has departed from classical liberalism is
individualism. Classical liberals believe in egoism, that individuals are ... Show more content on

Mill disagreed with Bentham as he believed in higher and lower pleasures that can be derived from
actions and promoted those pleasures which developed an individual s skills and abilities rather than
short term pleasure seeking actions. He placed emphasis on individual development and flourishing.
Another area in which it is suggested that modern liberalism has departed from classical liberalism is
freedom. Classical liberals believe in negative freedom. This is simply that there should be an absence
of external constraints on the individual and as such they should be left alone to make their own
choices. In this way classical liberals were heavily influenced by the natural rights theories of John
Locke and Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson claimed that we were born with inalienable rights and
therefore no individual or government had the right to take these away. Freedom from constraints is
therefore an essential condition for exercising these rights. In practise, this has meant that classical
liberals have advocated a minimal state or what John Locke referred to as the night watchman state .
The activities of this state should be limited to the enforcement of contracts, maintaining order and
protection from foreign threats to prevent the state from infringing on individual liberties as much as
possible.
Modern Liberals on the other hand have advocated a more positive interpretation of freedom. Positive

Reflection On Breaking The Elevator Norm
On Monday, October 16, 2017, around 1:00 o clock 2:00 o clock PM, my partner, Shantelle, and I
broke the elevator norm. Our setting took place at Miami Beach Community Health Center North
(Address: 11645 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33181) and the number of observers was about twenty.
The observers aged between 20 plus through 70 plus, we had observers from a pregnant woman to an
old man in a wheelchair, and from nurses to a security guard. Most of our spectators were women and
few were men, and race of the observers was among Hispanics and African Americans, if I m not
mistaken, I think there was an Indian/Bangladeshi woman. I think most of the observers are middle
class and most of the observers mood was nervous and quite because they were waiting for a checkup
or since it was a hospital. When my partner and I arrived at the health center, I was nervous since I
don t know how other people would react when I am facing them in the elevator. On the first try, I did
not say anything, nor I look at them because I got nervous. When the time arrived for actually
breaking the norm, I was scared since I don t know what the other person s reaction would be. As I am
facing the people on the elevator, I started to see the awkward look coming from the people and I was
feeling uncomfortable. There were some people who would just look at their phone or look the other
way as I make eye contact with them. The reason I felt uncomfortable because no one usually make

What Are The Techniques Used In Monty Python And The Holy...
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (1975), is a clever film
that uses a variety of techniques to satirise King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. Three
techniques the film uses are breaking the dramatic illusion, 2 D animation and anachronisms. This is
what puts them apart from other films in their time. First I m going to talk about breaking the dramatic
illusion.
Many times in the film Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones use a technique called breaking the dramatic
illusion. It is a technique when the filmmaker mentally pokes you in the ribs to give you a reminder
that you really are watching a movie while other films do the opposite and try to pull you into the
story.
My first example is the scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ARTHUR: There it is! The Bridge of Death! ROBIN: Oh, great. KNIGHT: Look! ARTHUR: There s
the old man from Scene 24! BEDEMIR: What is he doing here?
With this technique the filmmakers can belittle the famous story of King Arthur and his Knights of the
Round Table by making this story look trivial. They also use this technique as a tool to put more jokes
into the film.
Now I m going to talk about anachronisms. An anachronism is when two or more things come from
different time periods, like a power tool in a story set in the middle of the 14th century.
My first example of an anachronism is when the french soldiers in the castle talk about the airspeed
velocity of a european and african swallow. This is clearly modern science not 932 AD science.
GUARD #1: It s not a question of where he grips it! It s a simple question of weight ratios! A five
ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut. ARTHUR: Well, it doesn t matter. Will you go and tell
your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here. GUARD #1: Listen, in order to maintain
air speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings 43 times every second,

PARENTAL COLLABORATION IN EARLY INTERVENTION AND EARLY CHILDHOOD
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Parents frequently feel extremely defenceless when they start to utilize early interventions and
administrations; now and again solid emotions are near to the surface. Professionals ought to be
mindful of this and appreciate these sentiments. The principal assignment of any parent is to build up
a profoundly adoring, commonly fulfilling, and sustaining association with his or her youngster; the
aggregate child. This is critical for the purpose of both the child and the parent. Being a guardian is
fundamentally about being involved with their child.
The attributes of such a relationship are the parent must have a positive perspective of the child. They
must acknowledge and be fulfilled by, even commend, the youngster for who they are. The paternal
must get delight from the association with the child. The caretaker must feel skilful in the relationship.
Entry into the Early Intervention Program Short of having your child bite the dust, there is nothing
more pulverizing to a parent than to be informed that there is something the matter with your child;
your youngster is not ordinary. Parents contribution is a faith in the estimation of association that is
imparted by administration suppliers and families. The admission methodology is a troublesome time
for families as they are requested that distinguish and location their youngster s deficiencies. A few

Women In The Military
Women have always played an important role in the U.S Military and continue to, however women
did not officially serve in the US military until the Army and Navy Nurse Corps were established in
1901 and 1908. Prior to that time many women served with the armed forces as contracted and
volunteer nurses, cooks and laundresses (Scott, 2013). During the Revolutionary, Civil and Mexican

Reasons for Allied Victory in World War One
The extent to which a country can establish and retain a state of Total War inevitably leads to victory.
In World War 1, the allied forces ability to achieve this resulted in their success. The production of
munitions and American funding, resource allocation and the British Blockade, gave the allies a clear
advantage on the home front. The utilization of the superior weaponry and manpower as well as
improved tactics on the battlefront gave the allies an upper hand in this war of attrition. The final loss
of German morale on both the home and battlefronts, directly influenced by allied propaganda, the
arrival of the Americans and Germany s political instability, led to the cessation of the war and thus,
allied victory. The allied and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These strategies were then consolidated in 1918. The allies also adopted the use of Gas, it being one of
the most feared weapons. Source B depicts the use of gas masks. As gas was used frequently, allied
soldiers would often wear their masks as a precautionary measure, especially when firing machine
guns, like the source shows. The allied forces superior manpower aided in the war of attrition that
WW1 had become. The allies could gain troops from a number of nations as by the end of the War,
over 32 countries were supporting them. Germany was by then fighting alone. As source C displays,
despite the fact that the allies had more military deaths than that of the central powers, their population
was around eight times larger, thus allowing this high loss of life. The Allied forces essentially had
more personnel, weaponry and munitions supplies. This, along with their ability to develop tactics and
engage all elements of the battlefront, supported the perpetuation of Total War and the allies victory.
The loss of German morale on both the home and battlefronts greatly affected the outcome of the war.
This diminution of confidence was directly related to allied propaganda, the entrance of the Americans
to WW1 and the political instability of Germany. The lack of food supplies due to the British
Blockade and increasing casualty lists begun to make an impact on German morale. This, combined
with the allies

Rebecca s Make-A-Wish Research Papers
A humanitarian cause that I am interested in is Make A Wish
My friend Rebecca almost died several times in her life. Children like her need the motivation to help
fight for their lives. The Make A Wish program motivates children by granting wishes to those
children who suffer from a deadly disease like my friend, Rebecca. Rebecca was born with two deadly
diseases; Spina Bifida, and Turner s Syndrome. Spina Bifida is a disease where a baby has a hole in
his/her spine. Turner s Syndrome causes shortness, heart defects, and infertility. According to Make A
Wish s website, their mission is to change the lives of the kids they serve. In 2015, Rebecca s sister in
law stated Rebecca was again seriously ill. Offering Rebecca a wish, Make A Wish bestowed it, and
the family accepted the wish to give Rebecca a goal to motivate her to recuperate and leave the
hospital. Make A Wish began in the 1980 s, and grants kids wishes every 35 minutes. The program has

Essay Comparing My Last Duchess And My Ex-Husband
My Last Duchess, written by Robert Browning, is simply about a male who was not specially
treasured by his, now dead, spouse. The parody of Browning s poem, My Ex Husband, written by
Gabriel Spera, is in a woman s point of view pondering on a past relationship where she felt she was
not properly respected. In both poems, the speakers are reflecting on past relationship conflicts
pertaining to the importance they had in their spouse s lives. The speakers in My Last Duchess and
My Ex Husband each have different personalities and values, which prompts each individual to react
in different ways.
In Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the speaker is concerned with the rank of importance he
acquires in his wife s life. The speaker s personality comes off as angry, self centered, and greatly
annoyed. One time the speaker portrays these an annoyed quality is when he stated as if she ranked
my gift of a nine hundred years old name with anybody s gift (Browning, 33 34). The speaker s spouse
was brought equal amounts of joy by marriage as she was by the little things in life. The speaker could

Blindness In Oedipus The King Essay
Even those who acquire the physical ability to see may be blind to truth and the comprehension of it.
Although humans have a large capacity for knowledge, even the smartest individual is prone to error
and may be ultimately sightless to the obvious solution due to what they chose not to see. This theme
of constant and initial blindness becomes recurring in Sophocles Oedipus the King. This recurring
theme seems to play an important role in the development of the events and characters in Oedipus the
King. The tragic hero Oedipus, for example, is the quintessential example of a character who
experiences continual blindness. This continual blindness contributes to the dire fate of Oedipus when
at the conclusion of the play he finally realizes that he had actually been blind to the truth for many
years. Jocasta, Oedipus mother and wife, is another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Transnationalism And Immigration
One year ago, I found myself sitting in a strange and mesmerizing world that was hard to comprehend.
As I sat in the Charlotte D. International Airport, I was completely bewildered by the inundation of
new inputs. Growing up in Guyana, migrating to South Florida when I was nine, and living in a
multicultural environment, I was sure I had experienced everything the world had to offer. Traveling
would surely, only, be an extension of living in South Florida, I thought. Yet, I felt like a foreigner
sitting within my nation s own boarder.
As an immigrant to the United States, growing up in the Miami metropolitan area was forgiving for an
assimilating nine year old. Miami, with its diversity of representation, was contrasted against
American Airline s advertisements that portrayed the current hegemonic state of America successful
white males and white families.

The English Language During The Civil Rights Movement
In our society, the English language has evolved over time and certain words have grown to have
different meanings. Overtime the language shifts. A word would have the same letters for 50 years but
different definitions throughout the time period also known as the semantic change. One such word is
the word wasp . Most commonly referring to the pest that flies around in our backyards that sting us
and leaves us with quite the mark. But this was not the case after the American Civil War up in the
1860 s until the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960 s. The meaning wasp at the time referred to a

known as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). A WASP is known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words do not change in their initiative meanings but change in a means that they attain other
meanings or are used to refer to other named objects over time. For example, the word mouse is used
to refer to tiny long tailed animal however, it is now also used to refer to a device used to rheostat
cursor movement. The alteration of meaning occurs because words are constantly used and what is
intended by speakers is not exactly the same each time. If a different intention for a word is shared by
the speech community and becomes established in usage, then a semantic change has occurred.
(Malkiel, Yakov). Overtime, the KKK member population has declined due to alternating historical
events. Along with the group, the word WASP has changed also. In the modern time, WASP is used to
simply describe upper class white people. The problem with this is that the same word that was used
in the late 1800s to describe an extremely racist, violent, and unethical group is also now used to
describe a general group of people who are in no way affiliated with former Another problem is that
the term does not seem to be incorrect use. Unlike the term ASP being used today, an Angelo Saxon
protestant is from lower middle class England, particularly East Anglia, in the early 1600s. Some, like
the Puritans, came to North America because they opposed the Church of England. (Abagond). . The
term WASP does represent Angelo Saxon, which were people who inhibited Great Britain from the 5th

The disease first came to Europe when Italian trade ships returning from a journey through the Black
Sea docked a Sicilian port, and it was discovered that many of the seafarers possessed flu like
symptoms and black, pus filled blisters. This can be categorized under relocation expansion, because
the sailors brought the plague from one place to another with physical movement. Though the ships
were ordered to leave, the disease had already taken to the air and the water. It was so highly
contagious that even a touch of bacillus germ could kill a person within a day. In just five years, the
incredibly efficient disease killed 20 million people all over Europe, and the contagious diffusion
resulted in the death of one third of the population. The bubonic plague was eventually subdued, but
traces of the same bacteria that caused it can be traced to a recent Ebola outbreak, and the underlying
principals of that stimulus diffusion could potentially be profoundly hazardous in the right

St. Augustine Body
In his Confessions, St. Augustine describes his intellectual progression from loving the beauty of
worldly creations to aspiring to the true beauty of God. His account of his anagogical ascent parallels
a similar intellectual ascent by Socrates in Plato s Symposium. The two ascents are comparable in that
the protagonists both seek to glimpse and experience the ultimate beauty of the universe, but differ
because St. Augustine defines God as the source of all beauty, whereas Plato distinguishes between the
gods and the ideal form of Beauty. Furthermore, St. Augustine proposes that the books of the
Platonists are ultimately deficient in providing spiritual fulfillment because they do not acknowledge
the importance of Jesus Christ, the incarnation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
7.23). St. Augustine is only able to understand the true beauty of God for a brief second because he is
weighed down by his body. His main limitation of the body is his sexual desires, which also represents
the weakening of the will, derived from his mortality. St. Augustine is aware that he must transcend
beyond his sexual desires in order to sustain the true vision of God, but cannot do so for an
uninterrupted period of time. St. Augustine s anagogical ascent as described in his Confessions, begins
with him questioning his previous assumptions about the physical beauty of bodies. He questions the
truth in these beliefs, and describes that the unchangeable and authentic eternity of truth transcends
my mutable mind (Conf. 7.23). St. Augustine claims his judgements about the beauty of bodies are
transient and are subject to change as his ideas develop. He states that he cannot possibly claim beauty
to be one thing, because his idea of beauty and what is beautiful itself changes. There is only one
inalterable definition of true beauty, which is God, and St. Augustine cannot label that beauty with his
mind which is so prone to change and the deterioration of mortality. This leads him to view not the
beauty of

John Montague Expresses His Themes In A Clear And Precise...
John Montague expresses his themes in a clear and precise fashion
You have been asked by your local radio station to give a talk on the poetry of John Montague. Write
out the text of the talk you would deliver in response to the above title. You should refer to both style
and subject matter. Support the points you make by reference to the poetry on your course.
Good evening listeners and welcome to our Friday night poetry segment, Poetry Aloud. Tonight we
will explore the works of the famous northern Irish poet, John Montague. As anyone familiar with his
work would know, Montague expresses his themes in a clear and precise fashion and that very notion
is what we will be proving tonight. Montague s poems include the themes of childhood, ... Show more

The poem highlights the beauty and sensuality of nature. He uses the theme of nature to explore the
pleasure he feels whilst taking in the sights and smells of nature. Montague uses broad vowel sounds
to create assonance in the first stanza. This creates euphony and a sort of verbal music, possibly
representing the noise of the river and the theme of nature.
In The Locket, Montague expresses the theme of memory clearly and precisely, as it is written in
memory of his recently deceased, estranged mother. It documents Montagues resentment of his mother
s rejection of him and the pain he felt at having to grow up without her love: Sing a last song for the
lady who has gone fertile source of guilt and pain . The poet uses a rhyming couplet to begin the first
stanza. This gives the stanza a song like style that is in juxtaposition with the sardonic, tongue in
cheek tone. When he grew older he sought her out again and tried desperately to win her over but as
she grows fond of him, she tells him not to come again. In the final stanza, there is a twist as, after her
death, Montague discovers that she wore a locket containing a baby picture of him, beneath her
clothes at all times. Although this does confuse him i.e. mysterious blessing , it does provide him with
some closure as he realises she was guilty about her inability to love him. Similarly, The Cage
expresses the memory of

Breaking The Law
Wealthy people who gets involved into legal problems should be judged the same way as a person
with lower income. Rich people get off easier when they break the law. People who have more money
think that they are better and that they could get off easier when they break the law. There is cases in
which been part of a wealthy families is the difference between going or not to jail. Lower class
people under the same circumstances as wealthy people will not have the same benefits and will really
get judged like the law says. Think twice before you cross in front of that Mercedes. Rich people drive
their expensive cars with little respect for the law. They break the rules thinking they won t have to

There has been cases in which being part of a rich family gives benefits when it gets to the time of
judging what they have done. In this particular cases rich people most of the times use their economic
or political power to buy or intimidate the judges, which will eventually lead to the possible freedom
of the person who is been judged by the law. One clear example of injustice based on economical
power was the case of the teenager Ethan Couch. Couch a sixteen year old teenager who was accused
of killing four people under the influence of alcohol this teenager who supposedly suffer from the
illness called affluenza was sentenced to ten years under probation. The juvenile court judge sentenced
this sixteen year old with ten years under probation this judge made her ruling after hearing from a
psychologist who claimed that Couch suffered from affluenza . At the same time the defence of this
teenager argued that Couch should not go to prison because of the same illness. It is very
disappointing that judges and other people who should make the law stand get easily persuaded by
money from rich people this is very unfair for the community and especially for victims of tragic
accidents caused by this type of persons who think that with money they can solve every problem that
they face with. It is even more tragic that judges and other people who should make people respect the
law get easily influenced by lies that rich people creates in order to avoid the jail. Ethan Couch was a
clear example of a case like that. His defence argued that this teen ager had a rare type of illness called
affluenza . Affluenza has been used to describe a condition in which children, generally from richer
families have a sense of entitlement, are irresponsible, and make excuses for poor behavior. Even
though affluenza is not a recognized illness

Polixenes Jealousy
Furthermore, Shakespeare probably even sees vices as a beautiful work of nature, as how Polixenes
talks to Perdita about the carnations: nature is made better by no mean
But nature makes that mean: so, over that art
Which you say adds to nature, is an art
That nature makes. (4.4.104 7)
The word mean here might possess double meanings it might not only refer to the method that nature
teaches man to plant and graft, but the word mean might also suggest the base quality of man s
meanness and inferiority. Here Polixenes speak of the beauty of grafting flowers, yet on a broader
view, Shakespeare might also suggest the significance to accept negative qualities, such as
melancholy, jealousy, and even foolishness, as natural and beautiful. For ... Show more content on

What Does Masculine Mean To Me
Masculine to me means that not only are you physically strong mentally and emotionally strong. It
also means that you carry yourself with confidence and humility and compassion. To me it s important
that a male is able to express his emotions without feeling weak. To me, masculine, means to respect
others no matter what circumstance and be responsible.
I get my idea of what it means to be a good man from my own believes, some of my family ideas, and
from the Bible. I believe that these characteristics decide what a man is: Educated, hard working,
compassionate, humble, taking responsibility for their own , loving, and brave. Even being
emotionally vulnerable is another characteristic that describes a man to me.

Essay on Honor
It is better to die with honor than to live with shame
It has been said, quot;I would rather die standing than live on my knees! quot; (Emiliano Zapata). All
things are possible to a person who stands on the foundation of honor. The definition of honor is a
high regard or respect; personal integrity; reputation; privilege (Webster s Dictionary). The word
honor comes from Latin Honos. Honor shapes lives everyday, and provides the glue that holds a
family, community and country together.
To have a fantastic family is the best honor a person can have. Parents always teach their children to
be good to other and make a well name for themselves but it is in them whether or not they will truly
do it. Being proud of where you came from and then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they did not have family to lean back on during troublesome times they would not be the family
they are now; strong and reputable. Honor is what keeps our families striving to do better.
The price of honor can be great, and can even cost a person his or her life. A brilliant orator by the
name of Malcolm X helped to break the prejudiced way of life. He came to America with a new
message to all the people. Even in his death he is still a much honored man not only by the African
Americans but also by anyone who has been affected by any type of prejudice. How honor shaped this
Islamic leader s life is clear; he lived what he preached, and fought for his community.
September 11, 2001 was a very tragic day but at the same time a very heart shaping experience. The
men and women who ran into burning building trying to help the helpless had great courage and
personal honor. Every person that had been hurt or killed during this horrific ordeal were rescued and
treated as needed. The fallen rescuers did not even think of their own lives, just the people who needed
the help. The personal honor that drives a man to search for up to 18 hours straight, looking for any
sign of life, honors those lost, and honors his country.
Honor can be from saluting a flag to helping the helpless, but to me the greatest honor is being able to
honor my family wherever life takes me. With honor, a person has a fixed place from which to create a
life. Though it may not be the fastest, the

The Pros And Cons Of Sports Stadiums
Sports teams are a symbol of a cities pride. Take for example the Chicago Cubs. They create a sense of
loyalty toward that city. However, none of that would happen without a stadium. Stadiums and teams
can play a very important role in a cities economy, or they could also be irrelevant. To decide whether
or not they are useful or not you must first understand each side of the argument. So first, let s
examine the pros of having a stadium within your city. Then, we will discuss the harms of having one.
And finally, decide which side is more beneficial for the economy.
Proponents of subsidizing sports stadiums is a great decision because the economic impact it will have
on the community is great for two main reasons. First, sports stadiums are massive construction
projects. In fact, one could compare them to a medieval cathedral in their attempts to dominate a
skyline and inspire pride in one s city And, just like these cathedrals, they are very expensive, and
massive building projects that would require many years of hard painstaking labor. For example, the
proposed stadium for the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood, California, was predicted to cost $3 billion
and add 22,000 construction jobs to the economy of Los Angeles, California. Although construction
jobs do eventually disappear once a stadium is constructed once the games begin, so does the massive
consumer spending. For example, more than 3.5 million people saw the St. Louis Cardinals play at
Busch Stadium in 2015.

Underdog Wears Prada Sexism
The Underdog Wears Prada : An Analysis on Miranda Priestly and Villainy
In the beginning of the movie The Devil Wears Prada, Andy Sachs says She s [Miranda Priestly] not
happy unless everyone around her is panicked, nauseous or suicidal. This Quote paints a rather cruel,
uncaring, and even villainous character that Miranda Priestly embodies throughout the movie, but
despite this negative opinion, we still feel a draw to her, an undeniable intrigue due to the confidence
and strength she retains in her daily life. Chuck Klosterman, author of the essay Villains Who are Not
Villains, argues that a character is understood through their own realm, that we see villains
contextualized to their situation (48). Miranda Priestly is not seen as a villain ... Show more content on

She proves herself to be a successful and talented leader of Runway, but her employers still try to
replace her, excusing themselves of their sexism by claiming that she is getting old and less up to date
with the latest styles. It is apparent that she is actually being replaced because of the common sexist
misconception that women get weaker and less able to do their job when they grow older, unlike a
man who gets considered stronger and wiser. Miranda in response to this misconception has to hide
behind a façade, a persona of power and confidence in order to compensate for the misconceptions
held against her and in order to keep her career and the respect of her position. Though, in actuality it
is shown that Miranda is not as strong as she may seem because towards the end of the movie,
Miranda, unmade up and dressed down in a robe, reveals that she is getting a divorce. She exposes the
toll her job places on her life and gives a glimpse to the stress and sacrifice she has made in her own
personal life by creating a persona in order to combat the fallacy of sexism. This persona is the root
cause of her villainous traits; it is through this persona that she demands so much of her employees
and through this ambition and self preservation that she is willing to betray people like Nigel. If she
had security and the trust that management naturally gives to men, she would not behave in these
villainous ways and not have to fight and hurt others to keep her

The Negative Impacts Of The Industrialization Age
The Industrial revolution was a time in American history in which factories and manufacturing
business thrived. During the Industrialization period in the U.S the mass increase of immigration also
helped to build America into what it is today. The Industrial age not only was a positive effect on
American, but a negative effect towards the factory workers. Because of this the industrial revolution
interpreted a variety of perspectives from the factory workers, factory owners, the government, and
also those who´ve observed the conditions in those industrialized cities during that time.
The negative impacts of the Industrialization age would be terribles working conditions. During this
time period the terrible working conditions resulted in

Nuestra Familia Essay
A gang is an organized group with a recognized leader whose activities are either criminal or, at the
very least, threatening to the community. (Walker, 2011) Throughout history there have been some
infamous gangs that have gotten media attention and others that have gone under the radar. One of the
more underground gang structures are prison gangs. The Nuestra Familia may not be in the news as
much anymore compared to other gangs, but they are nothing to be taken lightly. Prison gangs have
been around since the late 20th century and only seem to be getting stronger if nothing is going to be
done to prevent them. Gangs in prison have members in and out of prison. One of the more popular

(NF 2011) This divide proved to be an igniter of the gang war between the Mexican Mafia and
Nuestra Familia.
The newly formed Nuestra Familia engaged in prison war against the Mexican Mafia throughout the
70 s until the later 1970 s when a formal divide was acknowledged between the gangs. After the
formal divide Nuestra Familia began making allies with other Californian Prison gangs like the Black
Guerilla family to defeat a common enemy, The Mexican Mafia. On the other side the Mexican Mafia
teamed up with the Aryan Brotherhood to combat the newly formed Nuestra Familia and Black
Guerilla Family alliance. In order for the Nuestra Familia to gain power in the prisons it has to control
the contraband coming in and out of prison. This is where the foot soldiers, the Norteños, came in
handy. Norteños is a Spanish term for northerners. (Gangland, 2008) The Norteños operated under
leadership from the Nuestra Familia members in prison. The Norteños used the trafficking of drugs
like marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine to gain currency. They also had successful
prostitution and identity theft rings to sustain their dominance in northern California. This held true,
the power of the Nuestra Familia has infinitely grown since its beginning in the 60 s.
The Nuestra Familia kept gaining power until the institution of the federal Racketeer Influenced and
Corrupt Organizations act (RICO).

Women And Gender Roles
Woman s theology ties greatly with gender roles. Women are expected to have certain duties and roles,
and these common presumptions make it hard for women to thrive. Gender roles is the root to woman
s theology. Gender roles is how society expect men and women to act, speak, dress, and conduct
themselves. For example, women are expected to be housewives, the nurturer of the children, and
oblige to their men. Besides being submissive to their husbands, women are also expected to dress in
feminine clothing and have class. Men on the other hand, are generally expected to be strong
providers, and the protectors of the family; wearing masculine clothing.
Generalized gender roles are created through gender stereotypes. These stereotypes can be considered
erroneous ideas of the male and female attributes. In other words, roles are based off the individual s
desires, beliefs, feelings, and knowledge; therefore, attributes may vary for everyone. In addition,
while some don t condone nor believe in gender roles, others are guilty of presuming them to be true.
For instance, some people truly believe that all women should want to be married and have children,
and that all men should be the source of protection and affluence. In addition, women are also
expected to be emotional, while men are usually expected to be aggressive. Women are expected to
cook for the family and clean the home. while men are expected to make sure everything in the home
is repaired.
In society, there may be

Red Cat Research Paper
The coat of the domestic cat is very diverse, considering all the patterns and colors that a cat can have.
From the hairless sphinx to the rough and tumble calico, genetics play a large part in determining a cat
s coat length, color, and feel. Melanin seems to play an influential role in the makings of the color of a
cat coat because it is what causes the color of hair and eyes.
The coat of a female cat is more likely to be diverse because they have two X chromosomes. The male
only has one X chromosome, which makes some of the combinations for coats, like calico or
tortoiseshell, almost impossible to occur. The Red gene (O) is carried on the X chromosome; for this
reason it is sex linked. Males normally only have one X chromosome and so if a male carries the Red
gene at all, he will be Red. Females have two X chromosomes; if both X chromosomes carry the Red
gene, then the cat will be Red. (Cat Colors FAQ: Cat Color Genetics. Cat Fanciers Chat,
www.fanciers.com/other faqs/color genetics.html) Most cats are not one solid color because of the
genetic diversity.
There are at least eight different loci that are involved in making up a cat s coat color. A combination
of different genotypes and phenotypes often lead to many different cat coat colors. The first coat color
gene in the domestic cat was characterized only recently. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Dunedin Public Art Gallery The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is currently showcasing the Private Utopia exhibition. It holds 85 works by 25 artists of Contemporary Art from the British Council Collection. The exhibition displays artistic production from the last two decades, by artists who came to prominence in the mid 1990s and also emerging artists of the present. Such as Sarah Lucas, Cornelia Parker, Marcus Coates, Laura Lancaster, Tracey Emin, Roger Hiorns and many more. These artists contribute to the five threads that are presented in the exhibition. These practises include humour and the uncanny in the everyday, storytelling and narrative, identity and society, real and imagined landscapes and the appropriation of styles, subjects and ready made materials. Overall the exhibition prevails a wide range of confronting and reflective themes. It shows the nature of Modern Art in Britain today and also includes aspects of music culture, social history and anthropology. Roger Hiorns prominently contributes to the themes showcased in the Private Utopia exhibition and demonstrates the broadening definition of what art can be. Hiorns was born in 1975 in Birmingham, England and currently still lives there. He studied at University of London Goldsmiths College and Bourneville College of Art. He was also nominated for a Turner Prize in 2009. Hiorns is sculpture and instillation artist. His primary interest is to manipulate materials or to make them react in unexpected ways. • 3. Using The Group Membership Method Resemble Those Found By... Results in the present study produced using the group membership method resemble those found by Lusseau et al. (2003) in which the Doubtful Sound population could be divided into three sub groups. The composition of groups however is somewhat different. This is in part due to different individuals being present / alive during their study than in the current study. Where all individuals present in both studies are placed across all three defined groups in Lusseau et al. s (2003) study, all but Kringel fall into the same single group in the present study. This suggests that, while the overall sub group structure may have been maintained over time, there is a degree of fluidity among members of sub groups. This is the very nature of a fission fusion society, where group composition is dynamic over time (Grellier et al. 2003). The three sub groups may be an apparently permanent feature of the population when using the group membership method, with the fission fusion nature of bottlenose dolphins defining the composition of each group through time. It must be noted however that Lusseau et al. s (2003) study was over a period of seven years, where 546 days were spent on the water. Due to the immense differences in field effort, direct comparisons are made with caution. Previous pilot work, which spanned only 6 days, also yielded similar results using the group membership method. The seven sub groups defined for the whole population using indices from the time based method ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection Paper On Narcissism Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that I am writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most people cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality is what created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a narcissist, my favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is extremely incredible that what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is with and what the specific circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the negative things she has done in her past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissism I have been sure to include an entire chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered an objective personality type. Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation surrounding it which is ironic to be because there are positive attributes some of which many of us share. The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which is why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must welcome diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of personalities in a workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of abrasive and narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to maintaining the abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the room who may have the leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right opportunity to do so. If a high achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a catalyst for his/her management of the group. If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success within the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success, ... It includes major social and cultural factors influencing individual perspective of health care systems. The model is designed to provides a guidance for the study and analysis of the major variables found within different cultures in order to obtain a trans cultural heath care perspective of health illness systems ( Leininger,1976). The 1976 model consisted of two major categories: levels of analysis and major domains of study and analysis. Four different levels of analysis and corresponding domains of study were included. Level one analysis of social structure features and the domain associated with this level were political, economic, social, cultural, technological, educational, demographic, and environment factors. Level two was analysis of cultural values and health care. The domains associated with level two include dominant cultural values and health care values. Level three analysis of health care system and its typologies. Major domains of study associated with this level included folk and professional health systems. Level four analysis focuses on role and function of health professionals. Domains of study included role responsibility and functions. Later on for the next decade, Leininge presented multiple models for use in studying trans cultural and ethno caring concepts building upon this original model. Potatoes Are Graded In America Essay From my research on how potatoes are graded in America, I have learned that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) established and enforce the grading. The USDA has been enforcing and updating the quality grading system for all foods since 1862. The last time the quality grading system for potatoes was updated was in June of 2011. The system in place currently grades potatoes on the following information: shape, firmness, appearance, size, color, and being free from: soft rot, wet breakdown, blackheart, freezing, blight, scabs, rhizoctonia, and physical damage or foreign matter. Although there are three grades for potatoes available for purchase due to the USDA s grading scale, all potatoes sold in the US must fall into this scale. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The grades of potatoes are U.S. No. 1, and U.S. Commercial, U.S. No. 2. All grades of potatoes are fit for consumption, the only difference between them is how they appear, and if they are free of any of the problems listed above. With that being said, there is a market for each of the different grades of potatoes and different ways they can be used in the culinary field. The best potatoes available to be purchased are the U.S. No. 1 grade, this is due to their top quality in the quality grading scale. These potatoes are free of any imperfections and exceed in every aspect of the quality grading system. This grade of potatoes is costs the most due to exceeding the grading system. Due to the set grade, these potatoes can meet the required specification of even the strictest restaurant or individual, making them the ideal choice of potatoes for quality. The U.S. Commercial grade potatoes, are similar to the U.S. No. 1 potatoes, except they do not fully pass the necessary quality grading scale to be considered ideal. • 9. Ap Euro Chapter 9 Questions And Answers Part I Questions 1.) The three calamities in Chapter 9 are the Hundred Years War, the Black Death, and the Great Schism. The Hundred Years War, from 1337 to 1453, began when the English king Edward III believed he was the true heir to the French throne. In addition, England owned territories in France, which the French disliked. Furthermore, England and France both wanted possession of Flanders, a French fief dependent on England. At first the English had the upper hand and even had a English king on the French throne, courtesy of the Treaty of Troyes. However, the tides turned when Joan of Arc was able to retrieve Orléans and rose French spirits to win a series of victories. The bubonic plague, known as the Black Death, most likely arrived ... • 10. Snow Is All Grown Up Snow was all grown up, she became exceedingly beautiful with her long black hair, pale smooth skin and glistering red cheeks. Her father loved and spoiled her immensely, he d buy her all the china dolls she adored to complete her collection. Her father had remarried to a tall, beautiful blonde granting Snow a stepmother when she was only 7 years old. They had met at a business conference in New York and instantly fell in love. At the age of 17 years old, the stepmother s envy and jealousy started growing stronger towards Snow as Snow got everything she desired and took the spotlight. The stepmother took a glance in the mirror and began talking to herself, I m the fairest of them all, not Snow as she continued to stare, she noticed the room getting darker, the wrinkles on her face grew more visible and she noticed liver spots emerging on her arms. She thought to herself, Snow must go, there s only room for one dominant gem in this household . The mirrors became the stepmother s drug because they were her gateway keeper that guided her decision making ultimately, triggering her jealousy and hatred towards the poor and innocent Snow. One day, a letter showed up in their mailbox from an unknown person that was addressed for Snow. The evil stepmother opened the letter and her eyes immediately wandered to the bottom of the letter where it read: from yours truly, your mother. • 11. To What Extent Has Modern Liberalism Departed from the... To what extent has modern liberalism departed from the ideas of classical liberalism? The further development of industrialisation led to social and economic inequality. This led to a revision of classical liberal ideas to prevent the spread of ignorance and poverty. It is suggested that modern liberals have betrayed classical liberal ideas as they embrace collectivism and diverge from classical liberalism on issues such as freedom. However, it can be argued that modern liberals have simply built on classical liberal ideas such as its commitment to the individual. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mill disagreed with Bentham as he believed in higher and lower pleasures that can be derived from actions and promoted those pleasures which developed an individual s skills and abilities rather than short term pleasure seeking actions. He placed emphasis on individual development and flourishing. Another area in which it is suggested that modern liberalism has departed from classical liberalism is freedom. Classical liberals believe in negative freedom. This is simply that there should be an absence of external constraints on the individual and as such they should be left alone to make their own choices. In this way classical liberals were heavily influenced by the natural rights theories of John Locke and Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson claimed that we were born with inalienable rights and therefore no individual or government had the right to take these away. Freedom from constraints is therefore an essential condition for exercising these rights. In practise, this has meant that classical liberals have advocated a minimal state or what John Locke referred to as the night watchman state . The activities of this state should be limited to the enforcement of contracts, maintaining order and protection from foreign threats to prevent the state from infringing on individual liberties as much as possible. Modern Liberals on the other hand have advocated a more positive interpretation of freedom. Positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our setting took place at Miami Beach Community Health Center North (Address: 11645 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33181) and the number of observers was about twenty. The observers aged between 20 plus through 70 plus, we had observers from a pregnant woman to an old man in a wheelchair, and from nurses to a security guard. Most of our spectators were women and few were men, and race of the observers was among Hispanics and African Americans, if I m not mistaken, I think there was an Indian/Bangladeshi woman. Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones (1975), is a clever film that uses a variety of techniques to satirise King Arthur and his Knights of the Round table. Three techniques the film uses are breaking the dramatic illusion, 2 D animation and anachronisms. This is what puts them apart from other films in their time. First I m going to talk about breaking the dramatic illusion. Many times in the film Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones use a technique called breaking the dramatic illusion. It is a technique when the filmmaker mentally pokes you in the ribs to give you a reminder that you really are watching a movie while other films do the opposite and try to pull you into the story. They also use this technique as a tool to put more jokes into the film. Now I m going to talk about anachronisms. An anachronism is when two or more things come from different time periods, like a power tool in a story set in the middle of the 14th century. My first example of an anachronism is when the french soldiers in the castle talk about the airspeed velocity of a european and african swallow. This is clearly modern science not 932 AD science. The utilization of the superior weaponry and manpower as well as improved tactics on the battlefront gave the allies an upper hand in this war of attrition. However, none of that would happen without a stadium. Stadiums and teams can play a very important role in a cities economy, or they could also be irrelevant. To decide whether or not they are useful or not you must first understand each side of the argument. So first, let s examine the pros of having a stadium within your city. Then, we will discuss the harms of having one. And finally, decide which side is more beneficial for the economy. Proponents of subsidizing sports stadiums is a great decision because the economic impact it will have on the community is great for two main reasons. First, sports stadiums are massive construction projects. In fact, one could compare them to a medieval cathedral in their attempts to dominate a skyline and inspire pride in one s city And, just like these cathedrals, they are very expensive, and massive building projects that would require many years of hard painstaking labor. For example, the proposed stadium for the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood, California, was predicted to cost $3 billion and add 22,000 construction jobs to the economy of Los Angeles, California. She proves herself to be a successful and talented leader of Runway, but her employers still try to replace her, excusing themselves of their sexism by claiming that she is getting old and less up to date with the latest styles. It is apparent that she is actually being replaced because of the common sexist misconception that women get weaker and less able to do their job when they grow older, unlike a man who gets considered stronger and wiser. Miranda in response to this misconception has to hide behind a façade, a persona of power and confidence in order to compensate for the misconceptions held against her and in order to keep her career and the respect of her position. Though, in actuality it is shown that Miranda is not as strong as she may seem because towards the end of the movie, Miranda, unmade up and dressed down in a robe, reveals that she is getting a divorce. She exposes the toll her job places on her life and gives a glimpse to the stress and sacrifice she has made in her own personal life by creating a persona in order to combat the fallacy of sexism. This persona is the root cause of her villainous traits; it is through this persona that she demands so much of her employees and through this ambition and self preservation that she is willing to betray people like Nigel. If she had security and the trust that management naturally gives to men, she would not behave in these villainous ways and not have to fight and hurt others to keep her ... • 33. Nuestra Familia Essay A gang is an organized group with a recognized leader whose activities are either criminal or, at the very least, threatening to the community. (Walker, 2011) Throughout history there have been some infamous gangs that have gotten media attention and others that have gone under the radar. One of the more underground gang structures are prison gangs. The Nuestra Familia may not be in the news as much anymore compared to other gangs, but they are nothing to be taken lightly. Prison gangs have been around since the late 20th century and only seem to be getting stronger if nothing is going to be done to prevent them. Gangs in prison have members in and out of prison. One of the more popular gangs that has been gaining steam recently is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (NF 2011) This divide proved to be an igniter of the gang war between the Mexican Mafia and Nuestra Familia. The newly formed Nuestra Familia engaged in prison war against the Mexican Mafia throughout the 70 s until the later 1970 s when a formal divide was acknowledged between the gangs. After the formal divide Nuestra Familia began making allies with other Californian Prison gangs like the Black Guerilla family to defeat a common enemy, The Mexican Mafia. On the other side the Mexican Mafia teamed up with the Aryan Brotherhood to combat the newly formed Nuestra Familia and Black Guerilla Family alliance. In order for the Nuestra Familia to gain power in the prisons it has to control the contraband coming in and out of prison. This is where the foot soldiers, the Norteños, came in handy. Norteños is a Spanish term for northerners. (Gangland, 2008) The Norteños operated under leadership from the Nuestra Familia members in prison. The Norteños used the trafficking of drugs like marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine to gain currency. They also had successful prostitution and identity theft rings to sustain their dominance in northern California. This held true, the power of the Nuestra Familia has infinitely grown since its beginning in the 60 s. The Nuestra Familia kept gaining power until the institution of the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations act (RICO). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Women And Gender Roles Woman s theology ties greatly with gender roles. Women are expected to have certain duties and roles, and these common presumptions make it hard for women to thrive. Gender roles is the root to woman s theology. Gender roles is how society expect men and women to act, speak, dress, and conduct themselves. For example, women are expected to be housewives, the nurturer of the children, and oblige to their men. Besides being submissive to their husbands, women are also expected to dress in feminine clothing and have class. Men on the other hand, are generally expected to be strong providers, and the protectors of the family; wearing masculine clothing. Generalized gender roles are created through gender stereotypes. These stereotypes can be considered erroneous ideas of the male and female attributes. In other words, roles are based off the individual s desires, beliefs, feelings, and knowledge; therefore, attributes may vary for everyone. In addition, while some don t condone nor believe in gender roles, others are guilty of presuming them to be true. For instance, some people truly believe that all women should want to be married and have children, and that all men should be the source of protection and affluence. In addition, women are also expected to be emotional, while men are usually expected to be aggressive. Women are expected to cook for the family and clean the home. while men are expected to make sure everything in the home is repaired. In society, there may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Red Cat Research Paper The coat of the domestic cat is very diverse, considering all the patterns and colors that a cat can have. From the hairless sphinx to the rough and tumble calico, genetics play a large part in determining a cat s coat length, color, and feel. Melanin seems to play an influential role in the makings of the color of a cat coat because it is what causes the color of hair and eyes. The coat of a female cat is more likely to be diverse because they have two X chromosomes. The male only has one X chromosome, which makes some of the combinations for coats, like calico or tortoiseshell, almost impossible to occur. The Red gene (O) is carried on the X chromosome; for this reason it is sex linked. Males normally only have one X chromosome and so if a male carries the Red gene at all, he will be Red. Females have two X chromosomes; if both X chromosomes carry the Red gene, then the cat will be Red. (Cat Colors FAQ: Cat Color Genetics. Cat Fanciers Chat, www.fanciers.com/other faqs/color genetics.html) Most cats are not one solid color because of the genetic diversity. There are at least eight different loci that are involved in making up a cat s coat color. A combination of different genotypes and phenotypes often lead to many different cat coat colors. The first coat color gene in the domestic cat was characterized only recently. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lot of melanin can make a cat s eyes amber, while a low concentration can make a cat s eyes blue. A medium concentration of melanin can make a cat s eyes green. The eye color of a cat can indicate how much melanin they have in their system. The darker a cat s eye color, the more likely it will be that a cat has a darker coat, because of the melanin concentration. As previously mentioned, the albino cat s eye color is blue or pink, and this is because of the lack of melanin in the body, which also shows on the coat of the cat, because the coat is ...
