Sweatshop is Conflicts With the Moral Standards
Green, B., Norton, S. (2011). Reading. In. W, Anne M. Laura ( Eds.), Essay essentials with readings
(pp. 336 341). Toronto, ON: Nelson Education Ltd. In the article, before the research, like many
people, the author s attitude was old, but after the research, the author s attitude changed. The author
chose the country of Bangladeshi to illustrate her point that working in a sweatshop can be a positive
experience for women in developing countries by focusing primarily on one country. First, she argued
that sweatshops offer jobs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can choose these data and cite them in my paper, and the data will make my evidence more powerful

http://doi.org/10.1007/s10551 011 1058 8 The idea of sweatshop has grown increasingly has been
hotly contested over the past several years. At first, the author reviews the moral and economic
foundations, then argues that the sweatshops are flawed, which are the violation of labor right. The
author addresses the question of sweatshops are justified in violating local labor laws. Then the author
pointed out that the global market competitions are the fundamental reason for growing sweatshops.
Finally, the author provides some recent literature, which applies to the ban exploitation of sweatshop
labor and offers advice on modifying the behavior of sweatshops. In this article, the framework is very
clear. The author mainly expounds the sweatshops are flawed and against the sweatshop labor. The
author not only used data to support their thesis, but also they used others opinions to assess the issue
and gave the recommendations. The evidence is believable because the authors of this article are the

After Watching the Documentary Food Inc.
Watching the documentary Food Inc, there were a few points that stood out most to me. I think one of
the most important concerns that were brought up is the consumers not knowing the truth behind the
food. Whether there is actual harm in our food or not, we still need to know what is going into our
food. The harm that may actually be inside our food can be caused by how easy it is to produce crap
food now days. Making mass produced food is a lot easier than it has been in the past because genetics
have changed animals into growing faster and fatter. This causes harm to the environment by creating
factories for these foods to be made, which causes pollution by emitting many CO2 gasses. However
this isn t a concern for the producer. The producer is mainly focused on money they receive even if it
causes harm to the environment or the consumers. The use of pesticides and other substances are used
in foods, whether it s in the production of corn growing or in the food in general to help keep germs
out. This also causes harm to the consumer and environment that we should be aware of.
Throughout the film Food Inc, I noticed there were quite a few subtitles stating ... declined to
interview for this film. This made me ask myself to why they chose not to interview for this
documentary. This goes along the lines of point number one. All of the companies which preferred not
to interview for this film are hiding information from the consumers, information that would make us
not want to

Stereotyping And The American Cinema
Stereotyping Arabs in Hollywood Stereotyping is a very common tool used by film makers because it
is a simple way of establishing a trait of a character in a movie but it provides a single sided portrait of
certain people based on their sex, gender, religion, race or age. As an example the way Arabs,
particularly Palestinians, are portrayed in cinema. The American cinema has painted a picture full of
misconceptions about them and created a stereotype that has been exacerbated in many movies since
the dawn of hollywood. Because Cinema is a powerful tool that manipulates and reshapes the thoughts
of audiences by making spectators passively consume all presented material, it made it easy to
manipulate the minds of people to serve a political agenda mainly the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Jack
Valenti a former president and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America had said:
Washington and Hollywood spring from the same DNA . Since the founding of Israel in 1948, every
American administration has made it clear which side it is on. On the other hand, it failed to support
the millions of Palestinians who are loosing their homes, their lands, and their lives to the occupation.
In the contrary, they have always been projected as the evil that wants death to Israel and America.
And that is where cinema comes in, it goes to reinforce that image in the minds of people so they are
less compassionate and sympathetic to the palestinian people as Israel is expanding in

The Impact Of Cultural Imperialism And De-Westernization
Presentation report The topic of the presentation is Cultural imperialism and de westernization. The
term cultural imperialism can be defined as broad cultural effects of imperialism including
colonialism, but more recently, it tends to have the imperialistic impact of global capitalism. Cultural
imperialism is recognized as a kind of form of the Western hegemony in which a way of cultural
power to dominate other national cultures throughout the world that is not only through the
entertainment but also through all areas of culture that including food, dress as well as media (Crane,
Kawashima and Kawasaki 2002, p.668). De westernization is a word that can be explained as a way
that eliminates and avoid the western perspectives and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a distinctive example of de westernization illustrated in Fuchs s article. There is no need for
cultural homogenisation (Fuchs 2015, p.229), every country can have their own tradition like
Bollywood film, the dancing is a special characteristic of Bollywood film which is different from
other countries movies.
Fuchs and Sparks both mentioned about the economic developments in BRICS countries compared to
that of the US together with other western countries. The figures all indicated that the BRICS
countries have grown rapidly in recent years, especially in China. So this phenomenon indicates that
BRICS countries are gradually occupying the world s GDP, however, the Gini coefficient in BRICS
countries remains high which means that there are high inequalities of annual income in these nations,
inequality between capitalism and working class. Although the GDP of BRICS countries grown fast,
the financial shares of information companies still dominated by the US which has three to five times
larger than the combined BRICS information sectors (Fuchs 2015, p.231). What is more, as Sparks
(Sparks 2013, p.124) mentioned in his article, the India media system has an expansion both in
broadcasting and newspapers, it has a large number of readership and audiences which the US can not
compete with. However, the US spent an abundant amount of expenditure on advertising which is
about eight times larger than that

The Problem Of Police Brutality
Police brutality remains one of the most controversial, as well as the most serious human rights
violations in the United States. In the past year or we have heard, read, or witnessed unjustified
shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings, and rough treatment which have all contributed to the ever
present problem of police brutality in America. Police are the ones that set an image towards the
society so that people can actually follow them and think they are doing the right thing, however it is a
really disturbing matter knowing that police does racial profiling especially compared to whites and
blacks. And therefore, this research paper is about police will most likely be more crucial to blacks
compare to whites and this is known as racial profiling. Therefore, this brings fourth the question, are
our officers of law really doing their job?
Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society. Most of these incidents go un
reported or un noticed. Through research, we seek to identify the causes of police brutality, and what
we can possibly do to end it, or in the hopes that it brings awareness. While doing research on police
brutality, I have observed countless online journal articles. These articles are written by professional
analysts that specialize in investigating specific incidents involving police misconduct. The term
police brutality is commonly used very loosely to fit all forms of police misconduct. The excessive
force element of police

Fascism In Russia
After World War One, many people yearned to return to normalcy; however, those desires were
rendered by the carnage and destruction caused by the war. In the twentieth century, fascism was a
response to many complicated social challenges and to the spread of Western liberal democracy. For
the growing fascist movements, the period after the First World War was seen as a time to bring
change to the nature of society, state, and international policies and laws. The rise of fascism in
Europe started in the early 1900 s due to cultural pessimism, the tragic consequences caused by the
war, and the incapability of liberal democratic regimes to cope with the war s consequences. After the
Second World War, people can argue that fascism has long disappeared ... Show more content on

The current global economic and political climate has promoted the question of whether fascism is on
the rise again. Vladimir Putin is one of the few current world leaders who has shown fascist
tendencies. Putin s Russia has many elements that are reminiscent of the early 1900 s fascism. There
are many similarities between Putin s Russia and the fundamental principles of classical fascism. Putin
asserts Russian power by putting pressure on weak neighboring states, and slams the West s criticism
of his policies and actions. By annexing Crimea and supporting pro Russian separatists in eastern
Ukraine in 2014, Russia was able to justify its military patriotic mobilization of society and the
transformation of Russia into a besieged fortress (Motyl, 2016, pg. 29). The annexation of Crimea
made Russian citizens feel a wave of vicarious optimism. Putin s bully attitude and aggression are
supposed to manifest Russian ethnic and cultural revitalization after decades of decline. Similar to
Mussolini, Putin is building his regime on the promises of greatness, the display of military force, and
the campaign to make Russia great again. Putin s actions and policies provide the Russian citizens
with a sense of national pride, which has been lacking since the post Soviet era. He continues to
pursue strategies and policies that restore Russian pride while consolidating power and influence in
Russia. Putin lacks of interest in engaging with Western politics has also contributed to the rise of his
popularity at

The Global Demographic Transition
Throughout the globe, we are experiencing the greatest demographic transition of all time. According
to the UN DESA report, our world population is projected to grow at approximately 9.7 billion by
2050. This immense growth will predominantly occur in underdeveloped regions and developed
countries, such as Africa and the U.S. Parts of the globe has an increasing ageing population, while
others are having a huge influx of new youth. Mainly Europe and South America will contain ageing
growths, whereas Africa and Asia will have larger proportions of youth ages. This particular dynamic

I have volunteered and worked with children throughout my highschool career. It started with
volunteering for a few weeks at the Vero Beach Museum of Art at their children s art camps. I enjoyed
working with the children and helping them with different art projects. My favorite group was the
princess themed class. There was lots of glitter, tiaras and pink. I loved connecting with the children
and being a role model to them. I also volunteered at Vero Beach Elementary as a reading mentor for a
semester. I was paired up with a young boy who I met with once a week for about an hour and helped
him with English and reading. I loved helping him one on one because I feel like it made an impact on
him and helped him succeed in school.

Antigone, The Universal And Most Heavily On A Hostile...
While myriad themes that pervade themselves throughout the entirety of Sophocles Antigone, the
universal and most heavily manifested theme is that regarding the conflict between how individuals
choose to make decisions in a society: should one fulfill religious and familial obligations even when
they contract the ruling of the state, or rather should the government be able to supersede divine right?
In the traditional Greek plays, the familial structure plays a significant role in governing the actions of
characters and causing conflicts, such as in the case of Oedipus marrying his mother out of ignorance
of familial connection because of divine rule and fate. Moreover, the role of hospitality and the almost
unbreakable bond of family are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sophocles thereby highlights Creon s injustice by showcasing not only the immorality of his actions
but also how he easily breaks familial bonds to maintain power and establish a strong government.

Idealism: The Root of Antigone s Downfall in Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when
Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polynices. While Antigone believes that it is
her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which
took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles
ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience, but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about
the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation,
and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text,
Sophocles explores three unique but interconnected themes. Sophocles first considers the role of the
individual versus that of the family, then rule by consensus versus that by a monarchy, and finally
obligations to religion and tradition versus those to the state. The underlying conflict of Antigone,
therefore, is not simply that between Antigone and Creon, but also between the themes

Mongol Empire and Doc
A barbarian decribes a crude person in a primitive state or someone who lacks education or
refinement. During the 13th Century a small Asian tribe known as the Mongols conquered much of the
known world linking Western and Easter Eurasia. The Mongols were a nomadic people until they
acknowledged the supreme leader Genghis Khan in 1206. Most historians formulate an arguement
based on the question The Mongols: How Barbaric Were the Barbarians ? The Mongols were not very
barbaric because they had a highly sophisticated military, lived by a code of conduct, and helped
improve the lives of those they conquered. The Mongols had a very structured military which grouped
their warriors into armies of 10,000 commanded by two or three chiefs. ... Show more content on

Here is where I would need an additional document or source to explain the upside down burial of
living prisoners and why they faced such consequences. The Mongols were not barbaric because they
had a code of conduct which maintained order in their society. Although the Mongols conquered most
of the known world, they also helped to improve the lives of those they conquered making significant
contributions to the political institutions, economic development, and cultural diversity of many lands.
In China the (Mongol) Yuan emperors built canals to improve transportation and communication.(Doc
J) Barbarians are frowned upon as uneducated people. It is unjust to describe the Mongols as barbaric
because they made Asia more civilized and advanced . The Great Khan also developed the system of
relay stations which aquired 200,000 horses stabled at posts for the special use of the messangers.(Doc
L) This stupendous organization made is easier for the Great Khan to receive immediate news. Over
the course, Mongol leaders often converted to the region s dominant religions Christianity, Islam, or
Buddhism.(Doc M) This clearly shows that the Mongols accepted all religions. The city of Karacorum

who were all craftsmen.(Doc G) The Mongol cities were highly organized into districts and had some
kind of social hierarchy. They also traded for centuries

The Modern Day Legal Systems
Human civilization marked the beginning of modern day legal systems. The advancements in societies
resulted in maintaining certain rules and regulations to continue this progress. Every society has its
own set of laws which are in some ways distinct from others. Many of these laws have common
sections and underlying guidelines. This could be because some societies decide to retain certain
aspects of their customs after breaking out of another society. It could also be the case that over time
different societies through trade and other intercultural activities developed together, which caused
them to have agreements in their laws. For many others, it is the case that they share a common
colonial master. The law and legal systems operating today are derivatives of the forms listed above.
Like many other nations today, the laws of ancient civilizations have affected Canadian law. These
include the Code of Hammurabi, the Mosaic law, Greek and Roman laws, the Magna Carta and a few
others. More recently are the civil and common law derived from the French and British respectively.
Canada did not always have a written constitution. The territory we now refer to as Canada was once
populated by the French and English colonial masters. These colonists extended the laws of their
home countries to their colonies. As the population of this territory grew and the UK gained control of
more colonies including those from the French, regional laws became a necessity. Between the

Persuasive Essay On Older Adults
In today s society, the older adults are often left behind and forgotten about. Society is often less
concerned about this population when they should be more concerned. As discussed above, as some
transition into later life, it is almost like they are entering a new world that they must readjust to. They
have to get comfortable in their new living environment, sometimes without their spouse and with
fewer friends and family members around. As a society, if we don t start monitoring this population,
the high rates will continue to rise and more older adults will continue to self harm which will lead to
a huge social justice matter. In order to advocate for this population, we must first educate those who
are not aware. I think it would be beneficial to start small programs or fairs throughout different
communities where families can be educated on exactly what to look for and how they can care more
for their older adult family members. In order to make this possible, resources are need. Educators,
physicians and social workers can all come together to provide the necessary curriculum to those
being educated. Certain policies should also be in place that will prevent the misuse of prescription
drugs. Instead of quickly responding to chronic pain with medicine, maybe other things should be in
place such as physical therapy or natural herbs, to help those individuals work through their pain. As
older adults visit health care more often, physicians should take time for screening

Real Play and Piaget Essay examples
Real Play Play that is initiated and directed by children and that bubbles up from within the child
rather than being imposed by adults is disappearing from our landscape of childhood. There are many
reasons for this, such as long hours spent in front of a TV, fear of stranger danger when outside.
(Exchange Every Day, 2009) Research, past and present, clearly points to the importance of play for
the healthy and full development of the young child. Piaget theorized that a child s mental models, or
cognitive structures, are based on the child s activities: engagement makes meaning. Many children
today are not benefiting from a balance of intellect and imagination. Play is declining in our schools

What the child does with some assistance today, is what the child will do independently tomorrow.
Piaget s and Vygotsky s theories are best known for their insights into the development of thought
processes. Piaget places thinking at the center of child development, Vygotsky s work was concerned
with the development for thinking. While Piaget emphasizes the role of the child s interactions with
physical objects in developing mature forms of thinking. Vygotsky focuses on the child s interactions
with people. Piaget views the child as in independent discoverer , who learns about the world on his
own. We know that young children develop social skills through play, and that they develop critical
thinking skills and language is enriched and vocabulary increased. Play, especially make believe play,
aids in the child s development of the execution function, which is a key role in the child s ability to
self regulate. The curriculum Tools of the Mind approaches learning as socially mediated by peers and
focused on play. Play, especially opportunities for imaginative play, is

Analysis Of WhatLl I Go By Irving Berlin
Irving Berlin first wrote the piece What ll I Do? in 1923. This specific performance is by the Nat King
Cole Trio in 1947. Though this song has remained popular to this day, even being used in the hit show
Cheers, the height of its popularity came around the time it was written. In the 1920s, the popularity of
social dance and jazz was at an all time high. This song, which was a mix of a ballad and a jazz piece,
was a sure hit. Originally written for a Music Box Revue, it was composed in AABA form, and had a
distinct sombre feel to it. Irving Berlin wrote several Music Box Revues from 1921 to 1924, adding
this particular piece to the score of the Third Musical Box Revue shortly before the closing of its run.
After the initial run of this piece, the popularity remained enough so that in 1947, The Nat King Cole
Trio recorded it as a solo piece. Proving its posterity it was later included on their CD: Cool Cole, The
King Cole Trio Story , released in 2002. The performers in this recording included Nat King Cole as
the vocalist, with Oscar Moore and Johnny Miller on the instrumental backing. This was one of the
last performances given before Nat King Cole began to phase out of the group to focus on his own
solo career. I chose this piece to analyze because I have known the song for my whole life, though my
knowledge of it stems from a performance by a different type of star. Bea Arthur sings this song in an
episode of Golden Girls as her character Dorothy. In this sense, it

Is Atheism Naive
To what extent is atheism naive? To what extent is atheism naive? well this question tends to be a
matter of opinion and in my opinion atheism is naïve to some extent if you look at it in the lens of the
argument posted. So firstly, what is atheism? Atheism is when you don t believe existence of God or
any other form of creator. While, theism is when you believe in the existence of God. For the past few
100 years there has been a constant debate on these two aspect, Atheism vs. Theism.
St. Thomas Aquinas is considered one the greatest Christian philosophers to have ever lived. In his

five ways his third way was Contingent and Necessary Objects .

Examples Of Observation On Preschool Observation
For my observations for this class I was given the option of which grade levels that I wanted to
observe in. I choose to spend the majority of the time in Kindergarten and preschool class rooms with
the exception of one that I did in a Special Education class room that had all ages in one room. The
reason that I did this was simple, in the future my goal is to teach in preschool or kindergarten. I have
always wanted to work with the little ones that were just starting out in their education journey and the
joy they have as they master the simple things such as finally learning all their alphabet or the very
first time that they read a book. That joy is so wonderful to see and to get the opportunity to not only
be there to cheer them on, but to be the one sitting there that taught them those skills that they need for
the rest of their lives to succeed. I spent the majority of the hours in Kindergarten, I observed different
classes of children and also different activities and different teachers with the same kids. I wanted to
see how different the kids acted from their original teacher, to how they responded with the music, art
and gym teachers. Would they listen to all of them as well? Follow teachers directions like they do in
the classroom doing their reading groups, math lessons or even regular class work like calendar time.

Loyalty usually goes hand in hand with honesty. Even though we as humans sometimes feel the need
to portray ourselves as saints, no one is perfect. Loyal doesn t always have to mean honesty. The
people that I find loyal in my life have always been devoted and faithfully supportive to me. No matter
how hard I fall nor how big the mistake, they are always there when I needed them to help pick me up
when I falter. My best friend Gia, who is also now the Godmother of my daughter, is the perfect

Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report
Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane
By: Melinda Martin
UBT1: Western Governors University
Introduction
This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane. Just
like with real airplanes, paper airplanes rely on aerodynamics to get the airplane to fly, although, they
may not look or fly the same they use the same. Changing the postion of where the weight is
distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far.
Literature Review
According to the article Four Forces on an Airplane, weight is always directed to the cented of the
earth. (National Aeronaustics and Space Administration, n.d.). There are other forces ... Show more

The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a 16 foot
tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper
airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm
paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position
to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled
variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and
threw with my right arm.
Hypothesis:
Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change
the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of
the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go
up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of
the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance.
Materials and Methods:
To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to conduct
the experiment.
3 pieces of 9 x 12 construction paper
3 28 mm paper clips weighing approx .5grams
1 16 ft tape measurer
1 pencil to documnt the distance

State Vs Rhodes Case Study
The court should not interfere with Mr. and Mrs. Smith s marriage. There has been no significant or
permanent injury inflicted, as well as no major threats towards Jane s life from John. So why get
involved? This case is a matter of family government, something the judicial system shouldn t try and
fix. What s done behind closed doors at home is done and the case of State v. Rhodes would support
that argument. Our conclusion is that family government is recognized by law as being as complete in
itself as the State government is in itself, and yet subordinate to it; and that we will not interfere with
or attempt to control it, in favor of either husband or wife, unless in cases where permanent or
malicious injury is inflicted or threatened,

Romantic Expressivism And Humanism
Summative Assessment Romantic Expressivism states the feeling or the self realization of what is
upheld in original values. The way we describe the world around us is not going to be the same as
other people s thoughts. Giving an ethical standard of what the world around us is, becomes a way to
use expressivism to explain certain occurrences that can show a deeper meaning than morality. Poems
such as Tintern Abbey Ode to a Grecian Urn and Ode to a Nightingale are written in the period when
Romantic Expressivism was the understanding of the universe. A Romantic poets insight comes from
the vision that they originally express as well as their views of the cosmos. The authors behind these
poems write in such a style that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A poem by William Wordsworth, Tintern Abbey , pushes forth to a concept of an expressivist view or
idea that embodies the new movement of Romantics. John Keats, Ode to a Grecian Urn and Ode to a
Nightingale also contains the original thought of the universe and gives a certain truth that serves as an
insight into the mind of those who wrote during this time period. Tintern Abbey entails deeply into
nature, and the reoccurrence of a past life. Wordsworth had visited the Tintern Abbey before, and
returns five years late while he is on tour. From the opening phrase, we can detect a hint of
laboriousness, even a potential tedium. (Fairer 179) Moving more into his writing, he goes deeper into
his meaning using sensual language:
The landscape with the quiet of the sky.
The day is come when I again repose
Here, under this dark sycamore, and view
These plots of cottage ground, these orchard tufts (Wordsworth 289, Line 8 11)
This short excerpt from his poem recalled his past and present time in viewing the Abbey and signifies
a true feeling of love or excitement to return to a memory that brings about this setting of tranquility.
Repetition in the sense of a reoccurring state of mind can suggest how time takes its toll. (Fairer 179)

The Causes And Consequences Of The Minoans
In daily, weekly or yearly occurrences we can pick out days of balance, days of chaos and then days
where we an adjusting from our mistakes or the the problems that we are facing at the time. In most
chaos we have the ability to get back on our feet, make some new inventions to fix the problems,
places or move away, dominate to get what you want, work together or tolerate the situation. In the
case of the Minoans, once a balance, healthy, strong and inventive culture. Where life was more than
good, one day had their chaos. Their chaos was something that could not be easily stopped when in
came to seeing the problem. There was not a sign of a war, there was not any political issues in sight
and there was not a shortage of food. What they were about to face, no person, god or goddess could
have ever foreseen. The Minoans were going to face a natural disaster so large in nature that it
ultimate set their once beautiful culture so far back that the people of Minoa could not adjust back to
the point of balance. The Minoan soared form around the time of 2600 BCE to 110 BCE and their
culture was unfortunately not that well documented by writings, but they were vastly into arts. The
arts which they had painted on their walls (mostly women), along with small statues of women and
painted vases and mosaics that were able to tell us about their life style and who they worshipped. The
archeologists and anthropologist that study humans and culture believe that peoples religions are in a

The City Of Las Vegas
Las Vegas, also known as Sin City , is one of the most popular tourist spots in the world that I plan to
take a vacation. It is constantly one of the fastest growing cities in the United States and the
population is normally over a million people. The vast number of people moving to Vegas is usually
about Six thousand people every month and only one thousand people leave, giving it a net growth of
approximately five thousand people a month. If you visit Las Vegas once a year, you will see huge
changes in with the city to accommodate their phenomenal growth. Vegas is rated one of the most
amazing places to go visit, especially do to the vast number of places to see, things to do, and
opportunities for advancement.
Mountains surround the vast city and you can see a breathtaking view of Lake Mead. The sights of the
city are more visible as the airport is relatively close to the famous Las Vegas Strip. Colorful, bright
lights and huge glamorous buildings line the famous Strip, all of them presenting a different theme or
culture. It is said that when arriving to Las Vegas airport you are immediately greeted with the sights
and sounds of slot machines. The lure of gambling is one of the first sights the city offers. The airport
is full of hustling people of all walks of life and from many different countries. It is quite common to
hear people talking in their native language as you make your way to the luggage claim. But, despite

The African-American Struggle For Freedom
I was watching a PBS documentary on the African American struggle for freedom. The African
American community has been fighting over centuries to not be segregated or discluded based on the
color of their skin. One thing that was particularly concerning was when the narrator started talking
about the attack of Rodney King. Rodney King was heading home from a friends house after watching
a football game there the night before, as he exited onto the freeway a police car started chasing him
King, didn t want to be caught due to the fact he was driving under influence. Once the police
cornered him they forced King and his two companions to exit the car Get out of the car and get on the

Testing the Effect of Differing pH Levels on the Heart...
The purpose of this investigation is to test the effect of differing pH levels on the heart rate of bivalve
mollusks. Mollusca can be classified by their soft bodies, head and foot regions. They also generally
have hard exoskeletons that cover their bodies. This is the case with snails and, of course, clams.
Bivalve mollusks have a hard outer shell and soft insides. Their hearts are located towards the center
of the umbo, which extends from the terminal end of the valve. The umbo is also the location at which
their shell grows. The gills of a bivalve mollusk are lining the interior of part of their shell. Below the
location of their heart is their foot, which is used to move or attach to various surfaces. Bivalve
mollusks have been around since the Ediacaran period however, they only started diversifying during
the Ordovician period. They themselves were not the dominant species but others along their family
tree proved thrive during this time. In the present day, which was most likely much the same as in the
past, the life cycle of a bivalve mollusk consisted of growing, having children, and the dying. They are
born as males, as is the case of most mollusks, and later about half age into females. They eject their
eggs and sperm into the sea and new mollusks are born. There is no larvae stage in the case of a
couple types of mollusks so eggs hatch into smaller version of the adults that created them. In the
other species of mollusks eggs are born into a larvae stage in

5.1 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
Table 2: Summary of characteristics Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA)
Characteristic Data Comments
Classification PSA is a glycoprotein produced by the prostate epithelial cells Cancer may elevate
levels both from increased production and because tissue barriers between the gland lumen and
vascular bed are disrupted.
PSA Levels PSA has a half life of 2.2 days and elevated levels vary in recovery depending on the
cause of the elevation PSA elevation may precede clinical cancer by 5 10 years.
Specificity PSA is organ specific, not cancer specific. Using 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal the
specificity is 91% and 85% for cut off of 3.0 ng/ml Elevated levels also found in BPH and
prostatitis/UTIs, post prostate biopsy and in acute urinary retention (do not test for 2 4 weeks).
Negligible level increases due to DRE.
Sensitivity Most screening studies use 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal levels, but a review of the
literature in 2006 showed the estimated sensitivity using 4.0 was only 21% for detecting cancer and
51% for detecting high grade (Gleason 8). In 2009, estimates of 4.3 to 73% sensitivity were given
(www.parliament.nz/resource0000166364). Using 3.0 cut off increased sensitivities to 32 and 68%.
(Arch Ital Androl 1006 78 (4) 125 9) Cancer may be present with normal PSA levels, and a PSA level
may not correlate with the acuity of the prostate cancer. A later study concluded that no single cut off

Bleak House
Bleak House is a novel, written by the English writer Charles Dickens, which was published in a
series of installments between March 1852 and September 1853. The novel explores London s social
problems of that time, such as safety standards in factories and working conditions. As a result, Bleak
House has been regarded as a Condition of England novel, meaning that it undertakes the countries s
key socio political problems and questions. But above all, the author centers his attention in London s
inefficient Court of Chancery; a depiction that works as an epitome of the city as a whole. The Court s
state of paralysis and slowly decay is reflected in the city s contamination, filthiness and labyrinthine
layout. Even worse, the characters are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Krook is an illiterate man who owns a store in which he accumulates things. He lives in a world
saturated with archaic objects, as well as the court is saturated with piled up cases and archaic
procedures. So, in this sense, Krook s death can be regarded as a warning of what may happen to the
justice system if its institutions continue in a state of paralysis. Krook s decay and contamination is
also protrayed through his house s description; once again, the places assume the characteristics of the
people who inhabit them. Once in Krook s house, before encountering his remains, Mr. Gubby and
Tony Jobling come across a thick, yellow liquor [...] which is offensive to the touch and sight and
more offensive to the smell. A stagnant, sickening oil with some natural repulsion in it that makes
them both shudder. This liquor What is interesting about Krook s death is the fact that he imploded, he
died as a cause of spontaneous combustion. This seems, from a scientific point of view, impossible.
But if we considered it as a metaphor, we may agree that Krook s body imploded as a result of its
decay, therefore, the same thing could happen to the Court of Chancery: The Lord Chancellor of that
Court, true to his title in his last act, has died the death of all Lord Chancellors in all Courts, and of all
authorities in all places under all names soever, where false pretenses are made, and where injustice is

thing that Iran and other Iranian like countries rebel is the freedom to all women. Life for all women
in these countries are forced under a specific rule that they must follow and if not they will be killed or
be locked up in jail or prison. Many women rebel against the rules but are put in jail. These rules are

not wear makeup, do not walk in public with men who are not their father, brother, and or husbands.

Water Trading Papers
Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has occurred,
as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious as to how it
got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible to pipe water
across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over the country. In
areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural water supply, it is
necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference. Water trading at its core
is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in exchange for another. This paper
will examine how water trading occurs between states and ultimately how water gets from where it is
to where it is needed.
The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to
maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without the
natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it to where
it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to ensure
access to water.
In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water,
which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could promote
more efficient water usage because a

How was Life in our World Created
Throughout history, scientists asked questions about the origin of life and wondered if it was created
by God or an explainable natural phenomenona. One of the most debatable ideas disputes whether the
Christian God is true. More specifically, many wonder if the Bible true. Scientists and philosophers
ascertained evidence that proves the truthfulness of the Bible. True science and the Bible do not
contradict each other. Science and archaeology supports the truthfulness of the Bible, confirming the
Bible is true
The Bible is consistent with science; in fact, the Bible contains scientific topics that have been
investigated by scientists. Throughout time, scientists used to believe that their theories were 100 %
accurate in explaining the universe. As technology advances, scientists discovered that some of these
theories are unreliable. Recently, it has been explored that stars are uncountable as mentioned in the
Bible As the host of heaven cannot be numbered (Deem). Scientists used to theorize that the Universe
has only between 1000 to 1200 stars (Comfort 21). The Bible has accurate, scientifically proven facts.
For example, many years ago, scientists theorized that Earth is flat; however, years later; they proved
that Earth has a round shape. It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth (Deem). Again, the Bible
mentioned the accurate shape of the earth. As a result of these discoveries, scientists began to study
and investigate various topics in the Bible and have

Grand Nursing Theory Essay
Applying Theory to a Practice Problem October 3, 2012 Introduction Our first class in the masters in
nursing program, has been focused on nursing theorists. We have learned about Grand Theories, which
are theories that are very broad and difficult to test and Middle Range Theories, which are also broad
theories but narrow enough to be testable. We have learned how to study the different theories,
looking at how we can utilize theories to evaluate practice. I have been in a nursing leadership role for
many years. Approximately 8 years ago, I lead a group of nurses to develop a shared governance
nursing model in our organization. Shared governance is having staff involved with making decisions

applied to a client that had a diagnosis of intervertebral disc prolapse. The client was in severe pain. 1)
Orientation phase; the client was initially reluctant to talk due to her pain. 2) Identification phase; the
client expresses the need to get relief from pain. The nurse educates the client on the pain scale to
measure pain. 3) Exploitation phase; client informs nurse that there is relief from pain when she is in
the supine position. 4) Resolution phase client s pain was reduced and tolerable. To apply this theory
to managing in a shared governance organization, I will define the nurse as the manager, and the client
as the unit staff. The organization has asked all managers to improve their patient satisfaction scores in
the next fiscal year. The manager will use the unit council (shared governance structure) to assist with
this goal. 1) Orientation phase the manager shares the organization goal of improving patient
satisfaction scores and shares current patient satisfaction scores and patient comments with the unit

The Importance Of Antibiotic Resistance In Antibiotics
A serious public health problem is the rise in antibiotic resistance. Some bacteria that can cause
serious disease are becoming resistant to most commonly available antibiotics. Antibiotic medications
are used to kill bacteria, which can cause disease and illness. A major contribution to human health is
antibiotic medication. Many diseases that once killed people in the past can now be treated effectively
with antibiotics. However, it has come to the surface that some bacteria have become resistant to
commonly used antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant bacteria are bacteria that are not controlled or killed by
antibiotics. They can multiply and even survive in the presence of an antibiotic. Most infection
causing bacteria can become resistant to at least some antibiotics. Bacteria that are resistant to many
antibiotics are known as multi resistant organisms (MRO). (Antibiotic Resistant bacteria, 2017) In the
late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, S. aureus developed resistance to penicillin. Methicillin, a form
of penicillin, was introduced to counter the increasing problem of penicillin resistant S. aureus. At this
time Methicillin was one of most common types of antibiotics used to treat S. aureus infections; but in
1961, British scientists identified the first strains of S. aureus bacteria that resisted methicillin. This
was the so called birth of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It was not until 1968
that the first reported human case of MRSA in the

  • 5. After Watching the Documentary Food Inc. Watching the documentary Food Inc, there were a few points that stood out most to me. I think one of the most important concerns that were brought up is the consumers not knowing the truth behind the food. Whether there is actual harm in our food or not, we still need to know what is going into our food. The harm that may actually be inside our food can be caused by how easy it is to produce crap food now days. Making mass produced food is a lot easier than it has been in the past because genetics have changed animals into growing faster and fatter. This causes harm to the environment by creating factories for these foods to be made, which causes pollution by emitting many CO2 gasses. However this isn t a concern for the producer. The producer is mainly focused on money they receive even if it causes harm to the environment or the consumers. The use of pesticides and other substances are used in foods, whether it s in the production of corn growing or in the food in general to help keep germs out. This also causes harm to the consumer and environment that we should be aware of. Throughout the film Food Inc, I noticed there were quite a few subtitles stating ... declined to interview for this film. This made me ask myself to why they chose not to interview for this documentary. This goes along the lines of point number one. All of the companies which preferred not to interview for this film are hiding information from the consumers, information that would make us not want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Stereotyping And The American Cinema Stereotyping Arabs in Hollywood Stereotyping is a very common tool used by film makers because it is a simple way of establishing a trait of a character in a movie but it provides a single sided portrait of certain people based on their sex, gender, religion, race or age. As an example the way Arabs, particularly Palestinians, are portrayed in cinema. The American cinema has painted a picture full of misconceptions about them and created a stereotype that has been exacerbated in many movies since the dawn of hollywood. Because Cinema is a powerful tool that manipulates and reshapes the thoughts of audiences by making spectators passively consume all presented material, it made it easy to manipulate the minds of people to serve a political agenda mainly the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Jack Valenti a former president and CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America had said: Washington and Hollywood spring from the same DNA . Since the founding of Israel in 1948, every American administration has made it clear which side it is on. On the other hand, it failed to support the millions of Palestinians who are loosing their homes, their lands, and their lives to the occupation. In the contrary, they have always been projected as the evil that wants death to Israel and America. And that is where cinema comes in, it goes to reinforce that image in the minds of people so they are less compassionate and sympathetic to the palestinian people as Israel is expanding in ... • 7. The Impact Of Cultural Imperialism And De-Westernization Presentation report The topic of the presentation is Cultural imperialism and de westernization. The term cultural imperialism can be defined as broad cultural effects of imperialism including colonialism, but more recently, it tends to have the imperialistic impact of global capitalism. Cultural imperialism is recognized as a kind of form of the Western hegemony in which a way of cultural power to dominate other national cultures throughout the world that is not only through the entertainment but also through all areas of culture that including food, dress as well as media (Crane, Kawashima and Kawasaki 2002, p.668). There is a distinctive example of de westernization illustrated in Fuchs s article. There is no need for cultural homogenisation (Fuchs 2015, p.229), every country can have their own tradition like Bollywood film, the dancing is a special characteristic of Bollywood film which is different from other countries movies. Fuchs and Sparks both mentioned about the economic developments in BRICS countries compared to that of the US together with other western countries. The figures all indicated that the BRICS countries have grown rapidly in recent years, especially in China. So this phenomenon indicates that BRICS countries are gradually occupying the world s GDP, however, the Gini coefficient in BRICS countries remains high which means that there are high inequalities of annual income in these nations, inequality between capitalism and working class. Although the GDP of BRICS countries grown fast, the financial shares of information companies still dominated by the US which has three to five times larger than the combined BRICS information sectors (Fuchs 2015, p.231). What is more, as Sparks (Sparks 2013, p.124) mentioned in his article, the India media system has an expansion both in broadcasting and newspapers, it has a large number of readership and audiences which the US can not compete with. However, the US spent an abundant amount of expenditure on advertising which is about eight times larger than that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Problem Of Police Brutality Police brutality remains one of the most controversial, as well as the most serious human rights violations in the United States. In the past year or we have heard, read, or witnessed unjustified shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings, and rough treatment which have all contributed to the ever present problem of police brutality in America. Police are the ones that set an image towards the society so that people can actually follow them and think they are doing the right thing, however it is a really disturbing matter knowing that police does racial profiling especially compared to whites and blacks. And therefore, this research paper is about police will most likely be more crucial to blacks compare to whites and this is known as racial profiling. Therefore, this brings fourth the question, are our officers of law really doing their job? Police brutality has been and continues to be a major concern in society. Most of these incidents go un reported or un noticed. Through research, we seek to identify the causes of police brutality, and what we can possibly do to end it, or in the hopes that it brings awareness. While doing research on police brutality, I have observed countless online journal articles. These articles are written by professional analysts that specialize in investigating specific incidents involving police misconduct. The term police brutality is commonly used very loosely to fit all forms of police misconduct. The excessive force element of police ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Fascism In Russia After World War One, many people yearned to return to normalcy; however, those desires were rendered by the carnage and destruction caused by the war. In the twentieth century, fascism was a response to many complicated social challenges and to the spread of Western liberal democracy. For the growing fascist movements, the period after the First World War was seen as a time to bring change to the nature of society, state, and international policies and laws. The rise of fascism in Europe started in the early 1900 s due to cultural pessimism, the tragic consequences caused by the war, and the incapability of liberal democratic regimes to cope with the war s consequences. After the Second World War, people can argue that fascism has long disappeared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The current global economic and political climate has promoted the question of whether fascism is on the rise again. Vladimir Putin is one of the few current world leaders who has shown fascist tendencies. Putin s Russia has many elements that are reminiscent of the early 1900 s fascism. There are many similarities between Putin s Russia and the fundamental principles of classical fascism. Putin asserts Russian power by putting pressure on weak neighboring states, and slams the West s criticism of his policies and actions. By annexing Crimea and supporting pro Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Russia was able to justify its military patriotic mobilization of society and the transformation of Russia into a besieged fortress (Motyl, 2016, pg. 29). The annexation of Crimea made Russian citizens feel a wave of vicarious optimism. Putin s bully attitude and aggression are supposed to manifest Russian ethnic and cultural revitalization after decades of decline. Similar to Mussolini, Putin is building his regime on the promises of greatness, the display of military force, and the campaign to make Russia great again. Putin s actions and policies provide the Russian citizens with a sense of national pride, which has been lacking since the post Soviet era. He continues to pursue strategies and policies that restore Russian pride while consolidating power and influence in Russia. Putin lacks of interest in engaging with Western politics has also contributed to the rise of his popularity at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While myriad themes that pervade themselves throughout the entirety of Sophocles Antigone, the universal and most heavily manifested theme is that regarding the conflict between how individuals choose to make decisions in a society: should one fulfill religious and familial obligations even when they contract the ruling of the state, or rather should the government be able to supersede divine right? In the traditional Greek plays, the familial structure plays a significant role in governing the actions of characters and causing conflicts, such as in the case of Oedipus marrying his mother out of ignorance of familial connection because of divine rule and fate. Moreover, the role of hospitality and the almost unbreakable bond of family are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sophocles thereby highlights Creon s injustice by showcasing not only the immorality of his actions but also how he easily breaks familial bonds to maintain power and establish a strong government. Du Gao Idealism: The Root of Antigone s Downfall in Sophocles Antigone Sophocles Antigone centers around a familial feud that develops between Antigone and Creon when Antigone decides to bury her brother and Creon s niece, Polynices. While Antigone believes that it is her religious and familial duty to bury her brother, Creon objects, citing the Theban civil war which took place right before the events of the play. Adhering to Greek literary tradition, Sophocles ultimately seeks not just to entertain the audience, but also to teach a moral lesson, in this case about the consequences that ensue when a tyrannical ruler disobeys divine rule, violate religious obligation, and attempt to place government over religion. In developing the plot and conflicts of the text, Sophocles explores three unique but interconnected themes. During the 13th Century a small Asian tribe known as the Mongols conquered much of the known world linking Western and Easter Eurasia. The Mongols were a nomadic people until they acknowledged the supreme leader Genghis Khan in 1206. Most historians formulate an arguement based on the question The Mongols: How Barbaric Were the Barbarians ? • 15. The Modern Day Legal Systems Human civilization marked the beginning of modern day legal systems. The advancements in societies resulted in maintaining certain rules and regulations to continue this progress. Every society has its own set of laws which are in some ways distinct from others. Many of these laws have common sections and underlying guidelines. This could be because some societies decide to retain certain aspects of their customs after breaking out of another society. It could also be the case that over time different societies through trade and other intercultural activities developed together, which caused them to have agreements in their laws. For many others, it is the case that they share a common colonial master. The law and legal systems operating today are derivatives of the forms listed above. Like many other nations today, the laws of ancient civilizations have affected Canadian law. These include the Code of Hammurabi, the Mosaic law, Greek and Roman laws, the Magna Carta and a few others. More recently are the civil and common law derived from the French and British respectively. Canada did not always have a written constitution. The territory we now refer to as Canada was once populated by the French and English colonial masters. These colonists extended the laws of their home countries to their colonies. As the population of this territory grew and the UK gained control of more colonies including those from the French, regional laws became a necessity. Between the eighteenth ... • 16. Persuasive Essay On Older Adults In today s society, the older adults are often left behind and forgotten about. Society is often less concerned about this population when they should be more concerned. As discussed above, as some transition into later life, it is almost like they are entering a new world that they must readjust to. They have to get comfortable in their new living environment, sometimes without their spouse and with fewer friends and family members around. As a society, if we don t start monitoring this population, the high rates will continue to rise and more older adults will continue to self harm which will lead to a huge social justice matter. In order to advocate for this population, we must first educate those who are not aware. I think it would be beneficial to start small programs or fairs throughout different communities where families can be educated on exactly what to look for and how they can care more for their older adult family members. In order to make this possible, resources are need. Educators, physicians and social workers can all come together to provide the necessary curriculum to those being educated. Certain policies should also be in place that will prevent the misuse of prescription drugs. Instead of quickly responding to chronic pain with medicine, maybe other things should be in place such as physical therapy or natural herbs, to help those individuals work through their pain. Real Play and Piaget Essay examples Real Play Play that is initiated and directed by children and that bubbles up from within the child rather than being imposed by adults is disappearing from our landscape of childhood. Though this song has remained popular to this day, even being used in the hit show Cheers, the height of its popularity came around the time it was written. In the 1920s, the popularity of social dance and jazz was at an all time high. This song, which was a mix of a ballad and a jazz piece, was a sure hit. Originally written for a Music Box Revue, it was composed in AABA form, and had a distinct sombre feel to it. Irving Berlin wrote several Music Box Revues from 1921 to 1924, adding this particular piece to the score of the Third Musical Box Revue shortly before the closing of its run. After the initial run of this piece, the popularity remained enough so that in 1947, The Nat King Cole Trio recorded it as a solo piece. Proving its posterity it was later included on their CD: Cool Cole, The King Cole Trio Story , released in 2002. The performers in this recording included Nat King Cole as the vocalist, with Oscar Moore and Johnny Miller on the instrumental backing. This was one of the last performances given before Nat King Cole began to phase out of the group to focus on his own solo career. I chose this piece to analyze because I have known the song for my whole life, though my knowledge of it stems from a performance by a different type of star. Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane By: Melinda Martin UBT1: Western Governors University Introduction This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane. Changing the postion of where the weight is distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far. There are other forces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a 16 foot tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and threw with my right arm. Hypothesis: Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance. Materials and Methods: To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to conduct the experiment.

  • 31. Testing the Effect of Differing pH Levels on the Heart... The purpose of this investigation is to test the effect of differing pH levels on the heart rate of bivalve mollusks. Mollusca can be classified by their soft bodies, head and foot regions. They also generally have hard exoskeletons that cover their bodies. This is the case with snails and, of course, clams. Bivalve mollusks have a hard outer shell and soft insides. Their hearts are located towards the center of the umbo, which extends from the terminal end of the valve. The umbo is also the location at which their shell grows. The gills of a bivalve mollusk are lining the interior of part of their shell. Below the location of their heart is their foot, which is used to move or attach to various surfaces. Bivalve mollusks have been around since the Ediacaran period however, they only started diversifying during the Ordovician period. They themselves were not the dominant species but others along their family tree proved thrive during this time. In the present day, which was most likely much the same as in the past, the life cycle of a bivalve mollusk consisted of growing, having children, and the dying. They are born as males, as is the case of most mollusks, and later about half age into females. They eject their eggs and sperm into the sea and new mollusks are born. Not many see it or even know that it has occurred, as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious as to how it got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible to pipe water across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over the country. In areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural water supply, it is necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference. Water trading at its core is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in exchange for another. This paper will examine how water trading occurs between states and ultimately how water gets from where it is to where it is needed. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it to where it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to ensure access to water. The client was in severe pain. 1) Orientation phase; the client was initially reluctant to talk due to her pain. 2) Identification phase; the client expresses the need to get relief from pain. The nurse educates the client on the pain scale to measure pain. 3) Exploitation phase; client informs nurse that there is relief from pain when she is in the supine position. 4) Resolution phase client s pain was reduced and tolerable. To apply this theory to managing in a shared governance organization, I will define the nurse as the manager, and the client as the unit staff. The organization has asked all managers to improve their patient satisfaction scores in the next fiscal year. The manager will use the unit council (shared governance structure) to assist with this goal. 1) Orientation phase the manager shares the organization goal of improving patient satisfaction scores and shares current patient satisfaction scores and patient comments with the unit council. The unit staff asks questions, share past experiences, and seek resources to assist with gathering data. The manager and unit staff discuss bias and limitations of the unit council. Roles of the unit council and the manager are defined. 2) Identification phase the manager and unit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Importance Of Antibiotic Resistance In Antibiotics A serious public health problem is the rise in antibiotic resistance. Some bacteria that can cause serious disease are becoming resistant to most commonly available antibiotics. Antibiotic medications are used to kill bacteria, which can cause disease and illness. A major contribution to human health is antibiotic medication. Many diseases that once killed people in the past can now be treated effectively with antibiotics. However, it has come to the surface that some bacteria have become resistant to commonly used antibiotics. Antibiotic resistant bacteria are bacteria that are not controlled or killed by antibiotics. They can multiply and even survive in the presence of an antibiotic. Most infection causing bacteria can become resistant to at least some antibiotics. Bacteria that are resistant to many antibiotics are known as multi resistant organisms (MRO). (Antibiotic Resistant bacteria, 2017) In the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, S. aureus developed resistance to penicillin. Methicillin, a form of penicillin, was introduced to counter the increasing problem of penicillin resistant S. aureus. At this time Methicillin was one of most common types of antibiotics used to treat S. aureus infections; but in 1961, British scientists identified the first strains of S. aureus bacteria that resisted methicillin. This was the so called birth of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It was not until 1968 that the first reported human case of MRSA in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
