Farmers in Uganda are willing to pay for a porcine cysticercosis vaccine, especially if it results in a premium price for vaccinated pigs or comes with a device to verify vaccine viability. Traders prefer pigs with high weight gain, which can be achieved through deworming. However, the current market system does not incentivize premium prices for vaccinated pigs. A purely public good approach may not be sustainable, so private-public partnerships could be considered. Quality assurance is also important given concerns over existing veterinary products.
