Gene And Betty Hoot Case Summary
The Burger King of Florida v. Gene and Betty Hoots of Matoon, IL. Case
The Hoots had remodeled a parking garage and turned it into a restaurant specializing in
hamburgers, calling it, Burger King. They registered Burger King with the state of Illinois as a
trademark, only to learn later that Burger King was a federally registered trademark of Burger King
of Florida. Unable to reach an agreement, the case went to federal court.
In a highly anticipated decision, the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that since Burger
King of Florida had a federal registration, they had rights to the trademark anywhere in the United
States except the area of Mattoon, where the Hoots had maintained previous authentic use.
Therefore, the Hoots were allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After plaintiffs opened a restaurant in Champaign, Illinois, defendants sued in the state court to
restrain plaintiffs use of the mark in Illinois. Plaintiffs then brought the federal suit, now before us,
and the defendants counter claimed for an injunction, charging plaintiffs with infringement of their
Illinois trade mark.
The district court found that Burger King s property right in the trademark was superior to Hoots s
because of the natural expansion of Burger King s business throughout Illinois but that Hoots still
had the right to use its trademark in the area in which it first adopted it innocently without notice of
Burger King s competing trademark. Hoots appealed.
The district court concluded, from the unchallenged findings, that plaintiffs federal registration is
prima facie evidence of the validity of the registration and ownership of the mark; that plaintiffs
have both a common law and a federal right in the mark superior to defendants in the area of natural
expansion of plaintiffs enterprise which logically included all of Illinois, except where defendants
had actually adopted and used the mark, innocently, i. e., without notice and in good faith; and that
the defendants had adopted and continuously used the mark in the Mattoon area innocently and
were entitled to protection in that

Trends In Managed Care
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) is medical insurance group that provides health
services for a set annual fee. The primary reason of managed care is to reduce health care costs
among Americans. The belief behind managed care programs was to maintain good health that
will be accomplish by preventing diseases and providing quality care. By having good health the
cost in health care can be controlled and lowered. Managed health care organizations became
contracted with groups of health care providers such as HMOs and PPOs. HMOs covers care
provided by physicians and other professionals who have agreed by contract to treat patients in
following with the HMOs guidelines and rules in exchange for patients. PPOs are known as
preferred provider organizations where individuals can only receive care from providers in contract
with PPO. Payment arrangements between managed health care organizations and care providers
are made in advance.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people may feel that HMOs have become more involved with insurance and less involved
with health care assistance. The government attempt to decrease health care expenses has caused
major regulatory changes of the market in health care. Managed care was seen as an effective way
to support health care quality while maintaining costs here in the United States. When expectation
for limited expenses faded away payors started looking in other directions. That s when state
government turned to managed care as a way of keeping down the cost with less resources
available than the federal government. The growth of managed care in the U.S. was sparked by the
interest in improving the organization of health care and their outcomes. Managed care will
continue to face the everyday challenges of fulfilling the marketplace for less limited care while
holding down the

Susan Glaspell s Play Trifles
Susan Glaspell s play Trifles accentuates women s tendency to make use of the small details that
help shed light on the larger problem. This attention to detail unravels the bigger problem. These
women are solving a puzzle; because they use the small pieces to solve it they are able to see the
bigger picture. The men are unable to do this because they work from the big picture and try to
find the small pieces, essentially the opposite of the women. The men do not notice the women are
essentially solving the murder by trifling. Although the focus is on one main choice by Mrs. Hale
and Mrs. Peters, to tell or not to tell why Mrs. Wright killed her husband, Trifles is thematically
intricate. It emphasizes the problem of justice and more contemporary... Show more content on

One way Glaspell shows this is through the naming of the women. None of them have first
names we know of besides Minnie Wright who is being held for murder, which naturally follows
the isolation of women in this play by men. The women all take the last names of their husbands
despite being the major characters in the play. Male supremacy is prevalent enough for the men in
this play to feel secure enough to belittle Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale s attention to these so called
trifles, which implies that women are too fickle and small minded to have anything to contribute to
the investigation at hand. Also, upon observing the kitchen in disarray the men promptly come to
the conclusion that the woman is to blame for her housekeeping abilities because all the men
know Mr. Wright is a good, conscientious man and as a result they form an entente safeguarding
John Wright s status. Due to the cohesion of the males in this play, Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale can
support Mrs. Wright only if they collaborate with their own

media’s responsibilities Essay
Discuss the media s responsibilities when it comes to reporting on Indigenous citizens or minority
ethnic groups. Taking into account both journalism s fourth estate function and its privileged
position in the public sphere, consider why the issue of setting guidelines for race reporting is an
often divisive one. Be sure to refer to the readings set for relevant topics. llustrate your discussion
with references to specific cases where relevant.
Reporting on the minority ethnics groups and on the indigenous people has been an ongoing issue
since ages. The whole aspect of reporting the indigenous has been a much discussed and debatable
subject. Along with the race reporting system, comes the power, role and responsibilities of the ...

In these cases, what would have been fair enough was to think a bit about how the portrayals of the
media would have had impacts on those people who were innocent.
Media reporting is also known as the shaping opinion device . When we talk about aborigines,
people have the tendency to link them with petrol sniffing, unemployment and drunkardness
(Johnson, 2009). People living in Australia or anywhere else are unaware or even know little
about the lives, cultures and attitudes about the aborigines in Australia. Thus media, as the
ultimate power is there to shape the opinions about the people through their provided images,
symbols and messages; in a way to act the voice of the voiceless aborigines (Johnson, 2009).
People will base their opinions on what and how the media is showing and broadcasting the
news. Here the news angle is a good example to talk about. The media need to know about proper
story selection. They should not like portray aborigines only when they are faulty and relate to it
again when another aborigine has committed a crime. This will make the rest of the world think
that all aborigines are alike and they have only to do with crimes and if we see to it, people have
based their perceptions. Media and its power of shaping opinions in a way socially construct
images and the readers swallow those truths without knowing if it is the entire truth or part of it.
A further example can be that of Louis St. John case study.

Per Business Insider, Forty-Two Million Prostitutes Work
Per Business Insider, forty two million prostitutes work in both legalized and illegalized countries.
Many countries have taken different legal paths to deal with prostitution. These paths include;
prohibition, making all forms of prostitution illegal; legalize, making all forms legal; and
decriminalizing, normalizing prostitution. The debate of how to handle prostitution cannot be
discussed until prostitution is understood. The Merriam Webster dictionary describes prostitution as
the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Prior to the
nineteenth century, prostitution in the US was legal in red light districts, zoned areas where there
was little conflict between communities and businesses, and the... Show more content on

As the policies currently stand in the US, no health requirements for prostitutes are in place and this
damages public health. The justice system assumes that deterring people from participating in
prostitution will prevent the spread of sexual transmitted diseases but this is not the case and has
not always been the argument against prostitution. In an article called Why is Prostitution
Criminalized? An Alternative Viewpoint on the Construction of Sex Work, by Rebecca Hayes
Smith and Zahar Sherkarkhar, researches argue that before the nineteenth century the debate was
based on moral grounds, but after the nineteenth century it was shifted to the medical issues. It is
especially interesting that, At the time doctors urged the government to regulate and license
prostitution so that prostitutes would be required to take medical exams, because medical
professionals were only wanting exams while the government pushed that illegalization was the
only way to prevent the spread of STDs (Smith and Sherkarkahr 45). Nonetheless, protecting
prostitutes and clients from STDs is a big concern in all countries but illegalization is not the way
to protect the public. In an article What to know about Nevada s legal brothels, by Michael
Martinez, he discusses the different health regulations that brothels in Nevada abide by. It is noted
that, The state board of health requires sex workers to undergo testing for sexually transmitted
infections. Monthly blood testing is

Gymnast College Essay
A gymnast requires being an athlete that pursues such elegancy as a butterfly, but also has the
strength of a lion. It requires strength in both the body and mind. Gymnastics is considered the
most dangerous sport in the world. For instance, the gymnast s injuries vary from a broken finger
to a fracture in the spine. Behind every routine that a gymnast performs is hours of training. To be
a successful gymnast he or she needs to focus on having the right body, building up physical and
mental strength, and lastly being ready to put in crucial hours of training. The first step of
becoming the best female gymnast is to make sure the athletes body is healthy. Being on a dietary
plan is what most athletic coaches recommend. For example, he or she typically has a nutrition
coach to maintain their balances. The job of the nutrition coach is to make sure the athlete s are
filling their bodies with nutritional foods. Usually the nutrition coach keeps a chart of what
gymnast put in their bodies. For example, athletes would eat fruits instead of junk food. The
average amount of water they consume a day during training is about two and a half gallons,
depending on the hours they put in. Keeping your body healthy is a... Show more content on

Slave Codes in the Pre Civil War United States
Prior to the emancipation of the slaves in the United States , there were several laws governing the
identities and the relationships of people with slaves . These laws were prevalent in the states that
allowed slavery , especially in the South . These codes stipulated the rights of masters toward their
slaves and defined the status of slaves in the American society . These codes also gave white
masters almost absolute power over their slaves . The rights of slaves were so minimal that they
were considered as nothing more thanhuman properties who lives belong to their masters

Not only were blacks involved but also anyone who was suspected of being an abolitionist .
Because of the situation , several slaves also revolted against their masters (Wood 2006 . As a

The Characteristics Of Leonardo Da Vinci s The Dwarf
Leonardo da Vinci was a very intellectual man who had a sparking curiosity in the history about
people and life. He contributed so much to the field of physiology. It is believed that almost all of
his paintings are based on the anatomical structure behind it. Da Vinci was interested in studying
the formation of living things. He is fascinated by the human anatomy.
Leonardo learned anatomy initially from the old Greeks and Romans. Leonardo immersed himself
in human post mortem examinations. He critically examined 30 human corpses at a time when
nobody was performing these examinations. He went from fetuses to babyhood to old age. He
wanted to recognize each part of the human body, including bones, muscles, ligaments, nerves, and

Bernardo is a character in a novel, a more detailed and vivid image is imprinted in the brain of the
reader (Lagerkvist 65, 36, 37, 39).
Anatomy took a large part in the three years it took to create and perfect Mona Lisa s smile. Da
Vinci spent hours in the morgue studying many cadavers and pulling off their skin to revel the
muscles around the mouth. He was intrigued to know how a smile forms, but was more
astonished and curious about the relationship between the brain and the nervous system. He
experienced difficulties for the lips are small and the nerves go deep into the body. He kept a
journal with sketches he made of his observations. One drawing included the dissection of two
arms and hands; he then placed them next to different face profiles. He observed different kinds
of facial expressions and developed how to create an angry facial expression. Make the nostrils
drawn up, causing furrows in the side of the nose, and the lips arched to disclose the upper teeth,

Essay On Nascar
Is nascar a dangerous sport? Nascar is dangerous but not as dangerous as you think. Many people
think nascar is one of the most dangerous sports. Nascar has changed dramatically over the past
few years. Nascar has many different rule to make sure people stay safe. Nascar drivers have to do
certain things just to get behind the wheel for the first time. When nascarwas first introduced in
1948, they didn t have very many rules at all. I m going to explain how nascar has changed from
1948 to 2017.
Nascar was first invented February 21, 1948. In June 19, 1948, was the first nascar race ever. They
didn t have many safety rules or safety barriers. So yes back then nascar was extremely dangerous.

automatically activated by heat. The benefits were immediate, as no drivers suffered significant
injuries as a result of contact with the safer barrier. Nascar officials then went to Lincoln, Neb.,
for a series of tests using heavier stock cars, and came away impressed. Within the next two years,
nearly every track on the Cup schedule would have safer barriers at key locations. Every decade,
there s a significant improvement in the level of understanding of energy management. Sicking said.
So do you still think nascar is dangerous? Yes it has its dangerous moments but safety has came a
long way. Many people died to enforce safety to happen. Nascar isn t as dangerous anymore.
They are still making safety changes to make drivers more safe. No matter how much nascar tries
to make safe changes there will still be some dangerous things. Although anything in life has some
danger. Nascar hasn t had someone die since 2001. In my opinion nascar is almost as safe as it can

Caribbean Heroes And Villains Research Paper
Someone who robs or commits illegal violence at sea or on the shores of the sea is, by definition,
a pirate. Piracy in the Age of Sails has set an image for what a pirate truly is. The collective
perception of a pirate of old makes fondness for the modern pirate virtually unheard of, as they have
become an excellent subject for entertainment and bring joy to many with modern interpretations of
adventures undertaken by the buccaneers. Pirates have become a staple in the market, having
multiple brands and products named and based on them, such as movies, liquors, video games, and
music. Piracybegan rising in the 17th century in the Caribbeanas a result of it becoming a booming

Low Voltage Current Mode Realization of Digital Logic Gates using CMOS
In this paper a new technique is introduced for implementing the basic logic function by using
analog current mode techniques. By expanding the logic function in power series expression, and
using adder and sub tractor realization of the basic logic function is simplified. To illustrate the
proposed technique, a CMOS circuit for simultaneous realization of the logic function NOT, AND,
OR, NAND and XOR is considered. PSPICE simulation results, obtained with В±2V supply, are
included.

In an attempt to answer this question, the translinear principle (Gilbert, 1990) has been used to
realize a digital inverter circuit (Kemp, 1983, 1984) a bistable element (Seevinck, 1978) and NOT
/OR/NAND/XOR functions (M., 2003) . All the realizations of logic gates in current mode
reported in references (Kemp, 1983, 1984; Seevinck, 1978; M., 2003) use bipolar technology.
In this paper, we present such an approach, a low Voltage CMOS analog digital circuit in current
mode where it works with a supply voltage of VDD= VSS=2V. The circuit is based on the four
quadrant CMOS analog multiplier (Ali et al., 2009).
POWER SERIES REPRESENTATION OF LOGIC FUNCTIONS
Using their truth tables, it is easy to show that the input output relations of the basic digital logic
function can be expressed as (Enab and Zaki, 1993):
Z= 1 Ix (1)
for the NOT operation,
Z= Ix*Iy (2)
for the AND operation,
Z= Ix + Iy Ix*Iy (3)
for the OR operation,
Z= 1 Ix*Iy (4) for the NAND operation, and
Z= Ix + Iy 2Ix*Iy(5)
for the XOR operation.

Obesity is causing a huge amount of health problems that previously weren t seen until
adulthood. If all children had PE class every day, it would help reduce the number of children
affected by obesity and children would develop a habit of daily physical exercise. Some health
problems obese kids are getting can be very serious. These include high blood pressure, type 2
diabetes and elevated blood pressure. Obese children commonly have a lower self esteem ,
negative body image and depression. Physical education is an essential part of growing and

The War Of France And Louis Xiv
The wars in France were one of the main causes to which economic distress arose. France did not
just simply acquire a substantial debt suddenly which led to economic distress but gradually
over time the financial situation in France worsened due to events such as the Seven Years War
1756 1763, American Revolution 1775 1783 and The Nine Years War (1688 1697) which would
lead to long term negative financial implications for France. Louis XIV had extended France s
power into Central Europe and North America. This power came about through wars which
landed France with a self inflicted debt which would cripple its economy. When Louis XIV died
in 1715 the state of the economy was dire and the subsequent fiscal decisions by Louis XV and
Louis XVI aggravated the situation. France was in a constant state of war and debt and the
immunity of taxes on the nobility and clergy deprived France of funds that it so desperately
needed. France s status as superpower was at threat as Russia, Prussia and above all Great
Britain where becoming increasingly powerful, Frances strong desire to retain this power
explains the ill advised and catastrophic foreign policies it had adopted. In the American war of
independence in 1775 to 1783 France directed its forces to assist the Americans. French aid was
pivotal in compelling the British to surrender at Yorktown in 1781. However although the
Americans gained much from France s support it led to no successful tangible results for France but

This theory focuses solely on children s cognitive development so that is both a strength and a
weakness as it gets an in depth understanding of children s cognitive processes however it cannot
be generalised to adults. Another strength of this theory is the fact that it can be applied
practically within the real world, especially in regards to education as it means children can be
taught based upon their developmental stage. It is extremely useful in that sense as it is
nomothetic so it can be applied to larger population. The theory contains both continuous and
discontinuous, it is discontinuous as it contains distinct hierarchal stages. It is good in one sense
as it allows professionals to see if a child is meeting the stages and if they do not action can be
taken. At the same time it can be disadvantageous as professionals, such as teachers may not push
a child to reach their full cognitive capabilities as they have met the criteria for their age. At the
time this was quite revolutionary as children were once considered little adults that only has a
slightly less mental and developmental capacity. Therefore they may not have learnt as effective as
they could, as they may have been taught above or below their capacity. However with that said it
has been suggested that his stages of

Extinction De-Extinction
De extinction offers the possibility for extinct species to be brought back to life by reproductive
cloning. Critics argue that de extinction will reduce the will of society to protect endangered
species, as well as harm the existing ecosystem upon species reintroduction. However, supporters
argue that many species would be great candidates for de extinctionand will possibly be beneficial to
the ecosystem. I will argue that de extinction should not be pursued. I will argue that reintroduction
of unextinct species could cause humanity to become disinterested in protecting endangered species
due to the loss of finality of extinction. Furthermore, re introduction of extinct species into
ecosystems would negatively shift the balance, and may cause endangerment and potential
extinction of otherwise unharmed populations.
Some supporters of de extinction believe it to be reasonable for reviving recently extinct species
as a last resort in their conservation. However, it is a common belief among critics that it is of
greater import to protect endangered species and reduce human impact so as to prevent extinction.
Shapiro, a supporter of de extinction, argues that de extinction should not compete for funding with
measures for protection of endangered species. However, she argues that both extinct and extant

Netflix Competitive Analysis
1. A key business goal was to reduce the cost of building the DVD library. One tactic used to
achieve this goal was to stimulate demand on older and lesser know movie titles. Shifting demand
away from higher cost new releases drove down the average price of acquiring DVDs and
improved asset utilization. This produced increased margins and profitability.
To balance demand Netflix developed a proprietary recommendation system. The system enabled
the transition from a manual one size fits all promotion approach to an automated data driven
marketing plan that delivered personalized recommendations across the entire movie library.
Effectively, the recommendation system outsourced the task of marketing to the subscriber. The

Socrates In Plato s The Apologia
The Apologia
Through the analyzing of The Apologia, is it learned much about the life of Socrates as well as
how he lived. In the Apology, Plato recounts the words given by Socrates during his trying in
which he was sentenced to death. During the trial, Socrates defends himself on two charges, which
are set in writing by Meletus, one of the prosecutors. The first set of charges Socrates refers to them
as the first lying accusations , and are informal charges to set an image of who people believe
Socrates to be. The second set makes up the formal accusations and the charges that they hope
commit Socrates to death.
The speech was given by Socrates to defend himself to the Athenian Council against chargers of
corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods the city believes that are in the novel.
Although no such speech was recorded, with the idea that Plato was at the trial, we can conclude
that the dialogue of the Apologia contains words as they were remembered by Plato. The original
speech was written in 399 BC in hopes of Socrates defending his reputation against his accusers.
The speech was then rewritten by Plato as remembers the trial and words . Socrates. addresses each

Utilitarianism Benefits
Benefits of Utilitarianism According to the utilitarian theory it believes that the impartiality,
fairness, and greater social harmony requires us to balance our interests with those of others. In
doing so, utilitarianism provides an effective antidote for the evils of discrimination based on race,
gender, religion, and other unjust criteria. This means utilitarians try to find a way to make
themselves and others happy. The value of happiness for example, should be distributed to as many
people as possible. Considering this, I agree that using the utilitarianismtheory will benefit a
society in the distant future. To begin with, negative consequences may be reached to receive a
positive outcome. For instance, there are five victims tied down to a railroad and there is a
runaway trolley cart heading towards the five victims. If there is a choice to divert that runaway
trolley cart to kill that one victim instead of those five, killing that one victim is considered ethical
according to the utilitarian theory. Indeed, diverting that runaway trolley from attacking those five
victims is a better outcome for the society rather than saving that one sufferer. The reason that is,
those five victims are now able to create a society that is far... Show more content on

whose interest is considered then it is the right solution. This means that the group of victims who

Heathcliff Dynamic Character
There are some people who just draw attention. They do so without asking for it, but a light
naturally shines on them and they command the center of attention. Whether it be for good or bad
reasons, people cannot help but stare. One would imagine that if Heathcliff was a real person he
would be one of these individuals. He is a truly special character and the moment someone meets
him in the book that person is intrigued. The reader meets Heathcliffthrough several points of view
and it is impossible not to be drawn to him. This is partly due to how much of a dynamic and
round character he is. Although some people may see Heathcliff as only cold, there are so many

additionally, he is so deviant that she actually falls for the letters from Linton, even though the

the reason Cathy keeps coming back to Wuthering Heights, and this is all thanks to Heathcliff s
influence. By the end of the book, his father s control is evident when Linton says, I can never re

really does have total control over his son, since Linton seems determined to bring Cathy in even if
it means her not seeing her dying

Gender Stereotyping In Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
The first princess Walt Disney s studio brought to life was none other than Snow White. The
eponymous animated film is still a well known story since it was released in 1937. In many ways
the film does not hold up to today s standards, and it is devoid of any characters worth being
interested in. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfshas some of the most overt gender stereotyping,
and relies on centuries old tropes to tell a story that was problematic to begin with. While Snow
White may not be as popular as Moana, she is still a prominent part of the princess line up. After
eighty years and multiple re releases, Snow White s iconic image is practically synonymous
with Disney. With Disney s worldwide influence on children and media, it s hard not to think of
the repercussions of the princess phenomenon. Now, what s so wrong about Snow White and
the Seven Dwarfs ? It s just a film after all, meant for entertainment. The problem is how heavily
the story relies on sheer dumb luck, and it reinforces antiquated ideas of the gender binary. Let s
start with Snow White, the young and radiant princess who sings merrily as she does chores in
tattered clothes. Nothing can keep this girl down for long. She is cheerful and oblivious for the
vast majority of the story, and is only able to live because a guy she barely knew kissed her.
There is only ever one dream that Snow White aspires towards, and she sings Someday My Prince
Will Come to make that perfectly clear. Snow White never

Similarities Between Animal Farm And The Truman Show
How can achieve the good life? How can we make make a utopia? These are some of the
questions when a human gets enough power and control! Within both of the stories, Animal
Farm (written by George Orwell) and The Truman Show (directed by Peter Weir). Both author
and director explore these three themes . The good life, a utopia and power are some of the keys to
living a full and grateful life. To have a utopia you must have a good life and to have a good life
you must have power within your life.
In the movie The Truman Show Peter Weirshows that power is to control another person s life in
one way or another. Whereas in animal farm to have power is to control.
The main point can be shown within christof who is the director of the show who controls where
truman worked, where he lived and even who he marries. Christof has ultimate power over
truman and whatever he does until Truman finds his own freedom within the set, this was
shown in one of the end scenes when Christof makes the weather horrible so truman couldn t
escape from the dome. This shows that Christof had the most power because he could control
another person s life and what they did. Similarly in animal farm power is shown in control and
that to have power you have to control over a group, this is shown at the start when farmer jones
is in control of all of the animals on the farm and then when the pigs take over to controll all of the
other animals. These were shown when the pigs had to have a farm vote to

Healthcare Coverage of the Americans
Legislative Position:
When U.S. President Barrack Obama signed the health care reform bill into law in March 2010,
opposing political pundits were quick to brand the initiative as government takeover of the
healthcare system and pejoratively described it as socialized medicine. I considered it my civic
duty to look a little deeper into the pros and cons of the issue as earlier research findings had
reported 45,000 Americans died annually for lack of health care coverage (Robertson, 2009).
The first amazing fact I discovered is that every modern westernized country, with the exception of
the United States, broadly accepts and runs some form of socialized medicine. England passed
their National Health Service (NHS) Act in 1948, and from that year has provided free physician
and hospital services for all her citizens. Government takeover is a concept that contributed to the
European approach where government not only owns the hospitals but doctors are also public
employees.
The health reform bill was enacted by the Congress based largely on the free market and has been
criticized for significantly enhancing government regulation of health insurers. However, critics of
this law have failed to highlight that it established a system that relies on private companies and the
government neither nationalized doctors, nor seized control of institutions offering health care to
citizens.
Since the law established exchanges that drove private insurers to compete to provide coverage

Modern Humans And The Existence Of The Planet
Modern humans have been on Earth for more than 200,000 years. Although many people feel
that 200,000 years is a fairly long time for us to have existed as a species, it is quite the opposite.
The earth is estimated to have been made 4.54 billion years ago. Life as we know it is estimated to
have begun 4 billion years ago. When comparing the existence of the humanrace to the existence of
the planet we live on or the existence of all forms of life, it becomes very apparent that the
humans species time on this planet has been relatively miniscule. If you took the entire history of
the 13.7 billion year old universe and compressed it into one year, the first humans would not even
show up until 10:30 pm on December 31st.
Without having a good understanding of how short our stay on this planet has been, it s very
hard for people to imagine a future where humans are no longer an existing species. With how
short of a time span we have existed here, and how many species have come and gone in the
history of earth, it is not too irrational to fear the possibility of human extinction. Clearly this isn t
a threat that is anywhere near imminent, but that is no reason to give it any less thought. A huge
flaw of the human race is that we often tend to be short sighted. We focus on problems that are
affecting us now or will affect us in the near future, and this is the reason why getting people to do
anything to prevent climate change or even just accept is so difficult. The possibility

Plainchant Compare And Contrast
The plainchants Viderunt Omnes by Anonymous and O viridissima virga by Hildegard of
Bingen are both compositions that were created during the Medieval Age, also known as the
Middle Age. The purpose of these pieces were to be served usually in Roman Catholic Churches
as music of worship. Although these two songs are known as plainchants, meaning they are
usually monophonic and the melody usually does not change, both pieces have many similarities
and differences. In my personal opinion, I believe that these two piece are more different than
they are similar. For example, Viderunt Omnes is polyphonic for a majority of its duration
because it sounds to be sung in unison by a choir and not by a singular person. O viridissima virga

Abstract
Fifty years ago, the concept of social media, cell phones, and the Internet was just being
developed. Today, these types of technology are being utilized in all aspects of life. About 40% of
the world s population has access to the Internet that is roughly 3.1 million people (Internet Live
States). With so many users able to access the Internet, social media is becoming a popular feature
among enterprise ecommerce project teams. In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of
effective project teams; the use of virtual teams within electronic commerce projects, and the affects
social media has on electronic commerce project teams. The purpose of this report is to encourage
the use of social media within electronic commerce project teams while maintaining the
characteristics of an effective project team.

If we view Neo as the person rather than the One, and Morpheus as God the Father, we have a
nice metaphor for the relationship between God and man. God desires to have a relationship with
us, from before we were born even. He is reaching out to us our whole lives.
When we seek God, he will reveal himself to us. Seek and you will find, knock and the door will
be opened... Notice how Morpheus first contacted Neo (through Trinity, the Spirit) rather than the
other way around. This was done via the computer screen when Neo is first introduced. Wake up,
Neo! The Matrix has you! Translated, wake up, sin has you! God reaches out to us first.
It is interesting that this scene is followed by Knock, knock... , then the door to Neo s apartment
is opened. This moment is critical because the invitation is extended to Neo to join the group, and
thus follow the white rabbit. It is this decision that paves the way for Neo to eventually establish a

Childbirth And The Italian Renaissance
Childbirth and Childbearing in Renaissance Italy for upper status woman, was far different than
what childbearing is compared to today s standards. In renaissance Italy it was said that woman
only had one purpose and that purpose was to have many legitimate babies, especially for the
nobility and upper status couples. From having these babies, the family could inherit a lot of
wealth (King, M. L., 2003). This differs greatly in todays society, as now woman s primary
function is not only to produce children. Woman today are seen as equals to men, and have a
larger significance than just having their husbands children. Childbearing in the Renaissance
was not as easy or as safe as it is today either, as we will further discuss. This paper will explain
the role of child birthing and bearing in the Italian Renaissance, everything from mortality rates,
to wet nurses and this differs from today s society. As mentioned before, the main role for
woman in the renaissance was to produce children for her husband and handle household affairs,
this was proven in the document by Alberti when he had said Furthermore, I made it a rule never
to speak with her of anything but household matters or of the children. Of these matters I spoke a
great deal to her...(Famiglia, D., 1996, pg 40). Thus showing the wife s role was greatly dependent
on her house and children. It was also important, especially in the nobility, that the children the wife
gave birth to were her husband s children. Her role

The Relation Between Prostitution and Human Trafficking Essay
Although the world is made up of a variety of people, every person is entitled to basic rights.
According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all human beings are born free and
equal. These rights apply to everyone throughout the world regardless of gender, race, religion,
sexual orientation, or age. However, although we are born with these rights, there have been many
cases throughout the world where people s human rights have been violated.

Ireland is familiar with prostitution. During the nineteenth century, in well known populated cities,
prostitution was apparent. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland
claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty five brothels, which contained about 356
prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by
family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland s police officials) instigated 11,864 women
because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800 s Magdalene asylums were also very
common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene
asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). The Dublin
Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved
in prostitution cases if it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one
of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in Ireland. However, it is
difficult to obtain research of trafficking. Before 2008, there have been no prosecuted cases on this
issue in Ireland (Coghlan and Wylie, 2011).

Pica And Rumination Research Paper
What exactly are pica and rumination disorder? Pica is the act of eating items that are non
nutritive, in other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Things that
could be eaten include glass, couch cushions, chalk, glue, just about anything that normally would
not be considered to be taken into the body. This can happen because of trying to avoid high
calorie items foods and the desire for weight loss. Rumination disorder is when someone(typically
children) have swallowed food and spit it back up and begin chewing it again. This behavior does
not happen because of medical reasons either.
In the study, they used 149 females that had eating disorders and 100 men and women that were
considered obese. There were few reports of eating non edible objects. Barely anyone at from
either group met the criteria for pica. 7.4% of the people experienced rumination. The prevalence is
still unknown. The females with eating disorders had 93.8% of the patients had the same
diagnosis. The males and females from the other place had 95% of the patients had the same
diagnosis. These numbers are not far apart which could mean they are pretty closely related and

Think About Your Space
Are you decorating your living room, home office, or bedroom? Spend time in the space and select
the most important and visible walls in those rooms. These walls should be considered the focal
points of your design. When choosing art for these spaces, consider the size that art will need to be
in order to take up enough visual space.
Match the size and shape of the pieces to the walls. For instance, if you have a long horizontal
wall, hang a long horizontal piece of art. In the same space, you could also hand a collection of
pieces in order to take up more horizontal space. By accentuating the height or length of the wall,
you will be making the room feel larger.
Choosing Art For Your Bedroom
When choosing art for your bedroom, it is important that you consider what it is you would like
to get out of the space. Is your bedroom a place of rest, a place to unwind, or a place for
romance? The style and mood of the art you choose should be in line with your overall plans for
your bedroom space. Because art is such an emotive tool, it is particularly important in your
bedroom that the colors of the art displayed help accomplish your bedroom s overarching theme.
For example, red is the color of passion, and although a painting that uses a large swathe of red is
great for a room designated for romance, it may not be well suited in a room designated for
relaxation.

Key Factors Of A Gifted Student s Educational Experience...
Our gifted programming standards take several factors of a gifted student s educational experience
into account. Our primary goal is for each gifted student to develop well rounded academically,
socially, and emotionally.
To accomplish this goal we integrate our gifted programming standards with the academic
standards. We have specific student outcomes with which we use the academic content to
accomplish. Student outcomes are
grouped into four areas.
Cognitive Growth and Talent Development
Students benefit from meaningful and challenging learning activities that address their unique
characteristics and needs. (Standard 1.6) Students become more competent and develop their
abilities.
(Standards 3.2 3.3)
The interventions we use are designed to increase challenge and develop self efficacy in our
students. We operate at the three highest levels of Bloom s Taxonomy: synthesis, evaluation,
and analysis. Students use metacognition where they notice their thoughts and record their
thinking. This allows us to ratchet up the level of their thinking through the types of questions
we ask. We want our students to become self regulated learners. We encourage them to set
goals and recognize their accomplishments. They learn to self monitor and adapt to changes
using a variety of learning strategies.
When we ask students to leave tracks in their reading, they are doing a metacogitive
activity. Beyond making connections to the text, we ask them to notice

family financially. On weekends and majority of the weekdays, I spend my time aiding my parents
while juggling numerous amounts of school work. Senior year proved to be the hardest, with five
advancement placement classes that I take and while still helping out at the restaurant. Such
environment that I was raised in, has shaped me to become a disciplined and responsible individual.
Having been raised by my parents who are Chinese, I have had the honor of learning several
cultural aspects of my heritage and becoming bilingual in mandarin and English. I learned to
celebrate Chinese holidays, learned about my unique culture, and even attended Chinese school
for a few years. My Chinese heritage will always be part of who I am and has shaped me to be who
I am today.
Although my life is not like those of a typical teenager s, I am and will be forever grateful for all
that my parents had provided me. For providing me with love and care, for raising me to become
a disciplined individual, for providing me with the inspiration that I need when I fail at times, and
most importantly, for finding the courage to send me off to college even without the full financial
ability to. I am proud of my international background, of my parents, of my heritage and myself for
finding the courage

Analysis Of Educating Yorkshire
Throughout this assignment, I will be critically analysing how Educating Yorkshire represents
teaching, whilst making strong references to teacher relationships and engagement. It could be
assumed that teachers are solely there to teach, which of course they do, however, the role of a
teacher goes beyond the delivery of the curriculum. Although modern day teaching may involve a
much more pupil centred approach known as the progressivism approach , present teachers still
have highly complex roles when it comes to the every day involvement that they have in their
pupils lives and learning. This is true of a recent fly on the wall documentary named Educating
Yorkshire , which is filmed in a high schoolin Yorkshire. According to

I believe that the two ideologies have a strong link as becoming that stable and supportive figure
as a teacher who also is perceived as approachable and welcoming to pupils, can give you the
power to capture their attention as you are aware of how you can engage them.
Teachers have the ability to use different relationship styles as a method of handling different
types of personalities and keeping them on track with their learning. The type of teacher and
pupil professional relationship help teachers to not only pass their knowledge on to the pupils
but pass on life skills such as ways in which pupils can manage their behaviour to best benefit
their learning. Educating Yorkshire shows how differently the teachers have established
relationships with the pupils and how this can impact the pupils behaviour and feelings towards
their time in school and their learning development. Contrasting personalities and teaching
styles of two teachers at the school in Yorkshire, supports this idea of the results of different
teacher and pupils relationships. For example, Mrs Marsden can be described as a motherly
figure and a shoulder to cry on, whilst still able to advise pupils into the right direction that will
best benefit their learning. In one episode, Mrs Marsden is comforting a young pupil who has
just had a fight with another pupil. The pupil who has a large amount of trust for Mrs Marsden,
opened up to her quite easily and appeared to be very relaxed in her

How Broadway Has Changed The Economy, Tourism, And...
We are living in the excesses of freedom. Just take a look at 42nd Street and Broadway.
Broadway has evolved tremendously since its opening, from more theatres to a larger audience. A
numerous amount of plays have been performed that have left unforgettable memories on everyone.
Broadway has made major effective impacts on the economy, tourism, and entertainment industry.
In 1750 when Walter Murray and Thomas Kean decided to open their theatrecompany on Nassau
Street, is when the origin of Broadway began. Their theatre was only large enough to hold 280
audience members and mostly put on ballad operas and Shakespearian plays because he was
popular during that time. Musicals and theatre moved to Broadway in the middle of the century ...

Broadway began getting more known in 1882 when a family named the Mallory s decided to build
the Madison Square Theatre. Nobody but themselves believed it would remain successful because
they had built it on 29th street which was far out of town where most tourists and business was
located. But to their advantage other attractive entertainment started being built in that section, like
The Casino Theatre, the Abby Theatre, and the Empire Theatre. Since there was so much
entertainment it just attracted everyone to go out of Manhattan. Throughout the years they have
managed to build 39 official Broadway Theatres. They also offer Off Broadway shows which are
shows that take place in small theatre that consist of 200 500 seats that will cost you less than
watch a show at a Broadway Theatre. Due to the low prices Off Broadway shows have decreased
and if something is not done soon to increase the popularity again, they might just get taken out
forever. During the 1900 s Broadway was viewed by mainly middle class people who were
searching for a date night, some excitement, and some soothing music. Since it wasn t taken so
seriously by the public, the best seats in the theatre valued from $1.50 to $2.00. Compared to the
prices of today, back then they practically paid a penny. This all is due to the cost of maintenance
that they had now in comparison to the price of

Toni Bambara The Lesson
The Lesson is a short story written by Toni Cade Bambara in 1972. Toni Bambara was an
African American writer born in the early to middle 1900 s. She was known for having fiction
short stories based off the more feminist side of her life. However, the theme is more based of the
realistic takes of life on the unfairness of socioeconomic status in America. Though hard to get
directly into it was an interesting read. The story is told in first person narrative from the life of an
African Americangirl named Sylvia. The short story discusses the problems she faces in life from
appearance issues, equal rights, and shame. The Lesson was an intriguing story filled with
history, told by a fictional character on a toy story journey to learn a lesson of equality. The
story is about a trip put together by Miss Moore, one of the main characters. Miss Moore in a
sense is the antagonist to the story, putting these kids in a difficult, but real life situation. However,
the real antagonist is the society they live in. The story touches on the very truth that life in the
United States can be very hard, especially for those around the poverty line. Society is the
antagonist because it is the real problem for Sylvia, Miss... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC
John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent
Coordinating Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina
and initially consisted of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members
of this organization made use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of
certain public places. The organization was successful in making other people aware of the
injustices that black people were usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent
protests such as the Freedom Rides in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963 which paved
the way for the amendment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. John Lewis was born on February 21,

member of the House of Representatives. In 2006 and 2009, together with 6 other lawmakers,
Lewis was arrested outside the Sudan embassy for holding a protest against the genocide

Essay about Magic Empowers Women in La Casa de Los Espiritus
Magic empowers women in La casa de los espГritus Discuss. In Isabel Allende s first novel, La
casa de los espГritus the reader is introduced to her use of magic as a means which enables
women to feel sustained in times of difficulty and which provides them with a power base
(Bennett, C. 2003:174). Interestingly, the women s connection with the spiritual and magical
stands in contrast to the men s rejection of anything that doesn t adhere to their strict perception of
morbid reality. Therefore, Allende quite clearly outlines magical properties as essentially feminine
(Shaw, D. 1997:116) and spirituality in all its forms as a province of the female of the species
(Hart, S. 2005:275) only. It can be argued that women and magic... Show more content on

Though some critics are of the opinion that Clara is a passive character and her silences aren t
exactly magic, Marjorie AgosГn argues that Clara chose silence not out of passivity or fear but
rather because that was the only way for her to create her own space composed of hidden signs and
signals (AgosГn, M. 1984:36). It therefore represents a place for her to be alone with the spirits
and creates a safe haven away from the destructiveness and aggressiveness of her husband. Even
though AgosГn s statement rejects Clara s passivity, it is possible to disagree on the basis that
she did not have sufficient information, and possessed neither the power nor the tools necessary
(Allende, I. 1984:41) to bring about her liberation therefore she was forced to refer to what can be
read as passive resistance. As a result of this, Esteban is unable to connect with her and soon

The Endings Of Sophocles Antigone
Although they are versions of the same play, the endings of Sophocles Antigone and Anne
Carson s Antigonick convey contrasting ideas of the power of fate, and its role in tragedy. In
Antigone, fate is described as an inevitable, insurmountable aspect of life that cannot be avoided.
On the other hand, Antigonick shows fate to be a malleable product which can be controlled by
the decisions individuals take in their lives. Through the role of the chorus, the addition of Nick,
and the catharses of the characters, Carson shows that fate is something which we can master. In
both texts, the responsibility of the chorus is to comment upon the play s proceedings, and to
make key observations about the characters actions. As Antigone is being paraded to her burial in
Antigone, the chorus states, The power of fate is a wonder,/ dark, terrible wonder / neither
wealth nor armies/ towered walls nor ships/ black hulls lashed by the salt/ can save us from that
force. (1045 1050) It emphasizes that fate is very powerful, and that it is not within humans
capacity to alter. Thus, Antigone and Creon are never capable of influencing their own lives; they
are not responsible for the tragedythat ensues, because fate would have seen to it anyway. In
contrast, the chorus in Antigonick says that it likes to find precedents, pointing out that We re not at
a loss how to think about this/ We re not without guidance. The chorus states that Creon can avoid
making the same mistakes

1.What is the significance of the Golan Heights?
Situated in the upland region of south western Syria, the Golan Heights borders southern Lebanon,
north western Jordan, and north eastern Israel. According to the BBC profile on the Golan
Heights, the region is a rocky plateau overlooking southern Syria and its capital Damascus from
the Israeli vantage point up to 40 miles north, thus serving as a strategic site for Israel to monitor the
activities of the Islamic State and Syrian rebel groups that have their bases in the area. Although
the region was under Syrian control, Israel seized it from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War which
Syria, along with Egypt and Jordan, lost. To this day, the loss of the Golan Heights is an open
wound in Syria and it was in the Six Day War that the newly elected and very young Hafiz al

Are Pork Pigs Good Or Bad
Pork chops might look good on your dinner plate, but do you really know what you are eating?
Pigs are where we get pork chops. There are many things that happen to these pigs for us to have
something as simple as pork chops. Some things are just cruel, and some are just unbelievable, but
it s true. Of course there are the benefits and the risks, but which one weighs more? This is what
you decide.
To start off with, pigs need fifty square feet to live a healthy lifestyle, but in most pig farms in the
US, pigs only receive about only twenty square feet if they are in good conditions. Most mother
pigs spend majority of their lives crammed into metal cages. After mother pigs give birth, then
they are moved into cages only big enough to nurse their young, but too small for them to turn
over. Once the piglets are about one month old, they are torn from their mothers and crammed in
a room filled with other piglets. Male piglets get their testicles cut out when they are only ten
days old. Pigs live in harsh crammed conditions. They are forced to live in their own feces and
vomit. Genetically manipulated by enzymes, pigs grow faster than normal. Pigs are fed grains and
seed oil to hire their omega six level which also causes them to also grow at dangerously high
levels. Americans eat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

overconsumption. Some good things about the consumption of this type of food are that we obtain
many different macromolecules like carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Pork chops may have its
benefits, but it also comes with risks. Hopefully, in the future, there will be better solutions to these
problems we face today like overconsumption and environmental

The Role Of Zeus In Ancient Greek Mythology
Zeus was one of the main gods that was featured a lot in the Ancient Greece myths. He was the
King of the gods and ruled over the sky, his main symbol was the thunderbolt but others included
the eagle and oak tree. His roman counterpart was known as Jupiter or Jove. He appeared in most
myths even if they were about other gods often being the one to set the myth up or create the
conflict. He was portrayed as an all powerful protagonist and looked up to whereas today his
actions would be seen as selfish and narrow minded making him an antagonist.
He was the considered the King of the gods because he was the one to free them from Cronus grip.

She was the goddess of childbirth and marriage as well as being the Queen of the Gods. Her

known as Juno. She married Zeus out of shame after he raped. Hera was Zeus s one legal wife,
as the greeks were monogamous, but this didn t stop him from having sexual relations outside
of his marriage. This was because he believed that he didn t need to abide to the laws of the
humans. Hera was often portrayed as being spiteful and jealous towards Zeus, because of his
constant infidelity. She often would seek revenge on the whomever he took a favour, as she
could not directly punish her husband as he had power over her. she would also wreck havoc on
the offspring that Zeus would have with over woman and those women themselves even if they
had been raped by Zeus. Zeus would often turn on her with violence if she nagged Zeus too
much, with one such occasion being when she and the other gods tied Zeus in ropes and plotted
to dispose of him. When he eventually got free she hung her by her wrists from the sky with
weights tied to her ankles. He eventually let her down when all of the other gods swore not on
rebel again. This was not a one time thing through as he would often punish her as a way to show
his dominance, and to remind her that as the man of the relationship, he was the one with the power.
Aphrodite was another of the twelve olympians, she was the goddess of love

The s Dolphin Threat Management Plan
Introduction
People and dolphins have shared New Zealand s coastal waters for centuries. In recent years there
has been increasing awareness of marine mammals and the threats they face within our coastal
environments (Department of Conservation1, n.d.). The Banks Peninsula Marine Mammal
Sanctuary was implemented in 1988 as a result of conflict between local and commercial fisherman,
and the endangered Hector s dolphin. Due to increasing concern despite the sanctuary s set up, the
Hector s and Maui s Dolphin Threat Management Plan was drafted in 2007 to place further
restrictions on fishing practices within the area. The formation of the sanctuary has created a safer
habitat for the local dolphin population, but in the process has negatively affected the livelihoods of
many local fishermen within the region.
The Banks Peninsula Marine Mammal Sanctuary 1988
The Hector s dolphin (Cephalorhynchus hectori) is one of the world s smallest species of marine
dolphin. These dolphins are only found within the inshore waters off the coast of New Zealand.
There are currently four distinct populations found off the west coast of the North Island, and the
west, east, and south coasts of the South Island (Department of Conservation2, n.d.; World Wildlife
Fund, n.d.). There are two sub species of Hector s dolphin in existence; the South Island Hector s
dolphin which is found off the coast of the South Island, and the Maui s dolphin which is found off
the west coast of the North Island

Residential Treatment Center Case
In 2010, my cousin went on a hiking trip with her Residential Treatment Center (RTC). On that
trip, she collapsed and wasn t taken to the hospital until a couple weeks later. By that time, we
found out that her body was overheated, which caused her to collapse and she was slowly

would be able to have a relationship with my cousin. There is an issue with the RTC s that need

  • 2. Gene And Betty Hoot Case Summary The Burger King of Florida v. Gene and Betty Hoots of Matoon, IL. Case The Hoots had remodeled a parking garage and turned it into a restaurant specializing in hamburgers, calling it, Burger King. They registered Burger King with the state of Illinois as a trademark, only to learn later that Burger King was a federally registered trademark of Burger King of Florida. Unable to reach an agreement, the case went to federal court. In a highly anticipated decision, the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that since Burger King of Florida had a federal registration, they had rights to the trademark anywhere in the United States except the area of Mattoon, where the Hoots had maintained previous authentic use. Therefore, the Hoots were allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After plaintiffs opened a restaurant in Champaign, Illinois, defendants sued in the state court to restrain plaintiffs use of the mark in Illinois. Plaintiffs then brought the federal suit, now before us, and the defendants counter claimed for an injunction, charging plaintiffs with infringement of their Illinois trade mark. The district court found that Burger King s property right in the trademark was superior to Hoots s because of the natural expansion of Burger King s business throughout Illinois but that Hoots still had the right to use its trademark in the area in which it first adopted it innocently without notice of Burger King s competing trademark. Hoots appealed. The district court concluded, from the unchallenged findings, that plaintiffs federal registration is prima facie evidence of the validity of the registration and ownership of the mark; that plaintiffs have both a common law and a federal right in the mark superior to defendants in the area of natural expansion of plaintiffs enterprise which logically included all of Illinois, except where defendants had actually adopted and used the mark, innocently, i. e., without notice and in good faith; and that the defendants had adopted and continuously used the mark in the Mattoon area innocently and were entitled to protection in that ... • 3. Trends In Managed Care Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) is medical insurance group that provides health services for a set annual fee. The primary reason of managed care is to reduce health care costs among Americans. The belief behind managed care programs was to maintain good health that will be accomplish by preventing diseases and providing quality care. By having good health the cost in health care can be controlled and lowered. Managed health care organizations became contracted with groups of health care providers such as HMOs and PPOs. HMOs covers care provided by physicians and other professionals who have agreed by contract to treat patients in following with the HMOs guidelines and rules in exchange for patients. PPOs are known as preferred provider organizations where individuals can only receive care from providers in contract with PPO. Some people may feel that HMOs have become more involved with insurance and less involved with health care assistance. The government attempt to decrease health care expenses has caused major regulatory changes of the market in health care. Managed care was seen as an effective way to support health care quality while maintaining costs here in the United States. When expectation for limited expenses faded away payors started looking in other directions. That s when state government turned to managed care as a way of keeping down the cost with less resources available than the federal government. The growth of managed care in the U.S. was sparked by the interest in improving the organization of health care and their outcomes. Managed care will continue to face the everyday challenges of fulfilling the marketplace for less limited care while holding down the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Susan Glaspell s Play Trifles Susan Glaspell s play Trifles accentuates women s tendency to make use of the small details that help shed light on the larger problem. This attention to detail unravels the bigger problem. These women are solving a puzzle; because they use the small pieces to solve it they are able to see the bigger picture. The men are unable to do this because they work from the big picture and try to find the small pieces, essentially the opposite of the women. The men do not notice the women are essentially solving the murder by trifling. Although the focus is on one main choice by Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, to tell or not to tell why Mrs. Wright killed her husband, Trifles is thematically intricate. It emphasizes the problem of justice and more contemporary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way Glaspell shows this is through the naming of the women. None of them have first names we know of besides Minnie Wright who is being held for murder, which naturally follows the isolation of women in this play by men. The women all take the last names of their husbands despite being the major characters in the play. Male supremacy is prevalent enough for the men in this play to feel secure enough to belittle Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale s attention to these so called trifles, which implies that women are too fickle and small minded to have anything to contribute to the investigation at hand. Also, upon observing the kitchen in disarray the men promptly come to the conclusion that the woman is to blame for her housekeeping abilities because all the men know Mr. Wright is a good, conscientious man and as a result they form an entente safeguarding John Wright s status. Due to the cohesion of the males in this play, Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale can support Mrs. Wright only if they collaborate with their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Be sure to refer to the readings set for relevant topics. llustrate your discussion with references to specific cases where relevant. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these cases, what would have been fair enough was to think a bit about how the portrayals of the media would have had impacts on those people who were innocent. Media reporting is also known as the shaping opinion device . When we talk about aborigines, people have the tendency to link them with petrol sniffing, unemployment and drunkardness (Johnson, 2009). People living in Australia or anywhere else are unaware or even know little about the lives, cultures and attitudes about the aborigines in Australia. Thus media, as the ultimate power is there to shape the opinions about the people through their provided images, symbols and messages; in a way to act the voice of the voiceless aborigines (Johnson, 2009). People will base their opinions on what and how the media is showing and broadcasting the news. Here the news angle is a good example to talk about. The media need to know about proper story selection. They should not like portray aborigines only when they are faulty and relate to it again when another aborigine has committed a crime. This will make the rest of the world think that all aborigines are alike and they have only to do with crimes and if we see to it, people have based their perceptions. Media and its power of shaping opinions in a way socially construct images and the readers swallow those truths without knowing if it is the entire truth or part of it. Many countries have taken different legal paths to deal with prostitution. These paths include; prohibition, making all forms of prostitution illegal; legalize, making all forms legal; and decriminalizing, normalizing prostitution. The debate of how to handle prostitution cannot be discussed until prostitution is understood. The justice system assumes that deterring people from participating in prostitution will prevent the spread of sexual transmitted diseases but this is not the case and has not always been the argument against prostitution. In an article called Why is Prostitution Criminalized? An Alternative Viewpoint on the Construction of Sex Work, by Rebecca Hayes Smith and Zahar Sherkarkhar, researches argue that before the nineteenth century the debate was based on moral grounds, but after the nineteenth century it was shifted to the medical issues. It is especially interesting that, At the time doctors urged the government to regulate and license prostitution so that prostitutes would be required to take medical exams, because medical professionals were only wanting exams while the government pushed that illegalization was the only way to prevent the spread of STDs (Smith and Sherkarkahr 45). Nonetheless, protecting prostitutes and clients from STDs is a big concern in all countries but illegalization is not the way to protect the public. Because Bernardo is a character in a novel, a more detailed and vivid image is imprinted in the brain of the reader (Lagerkvist 65, 36, 37, 39). Anatomy took a large part in the three years it took to create and perfect Mona Lisa s smile. Da Vinci spent hours in the morgue studying many cadavers and pulling off their skin to revel the muscles around the mouth. He was intrigued to know how a smile forms, but was more astonished and curious about the relationship between the brain and the nervous system. He experienced difficulties for the lips are small and the nerves go deep into the body. He kept a journal with sketches he made of his observations. Piracy in the Age of Sails has set an image for what a pirate truly is. The collective perception of a pirate of old makes fondness for the modern pirate virtually unheard of, as they have become an excellent subject for entertainment and bring joy to many with modern interpretations of adventures undertaken by the buccaneers. Pirates have become a staple in the market, having multiple brands and products named and based on them, such as movies, liquors, video games, and music. Piracybegan rising in the 17th century in the Caribbeanas a result of it becoming a booming trade center for European and rising colonial powers. Even with the Europeans having a stake in that area there was great difficulty in establishing peace. All the realizations of logic gates in current mode reported in references (Kemp, 1983, 1984; Seevinck, 1978; M., 2003) use bipolar technology. In this paper, we present such an approach, a low Voltage CMOS analog digital circuit in current mode where it works with a supply voltage of VDD= VSS=2V. The circuit is based on the four quadrant CMOS analog multiplier (Ali et al., 2009). Obesity is causing a huge amount of health problems that previously weren t seen until adulthood. If all children had PE class every day, it would help reduce the number of children affected by obesity and children would develop a habit of daily physical exercise. Some health problems obese kids are getting can be very serious. These include high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and elevated blood pressure. Obese children commonly have a lower self esteem , negative body image and depression. • 18. The War Of France And Louis Xiv The wars in France were one of the main causes to which economic distress arose. France did not just simply acquire a substantial debt suddenly which led to economic distress but gradually over time the financial situation in France worsened due to events such as the Seven Years War 1756 1763, American Revolution 1775 1783 and The Nine Years War (1688 1697) which would lead to long term negative financial implications for France. Louis XIV had extended France s power into Central Europe and North America. This power came about through wars which landed France with a self inflicted debt which would cripple its economy. When Louis XIV died in 1715 the state of the economy was dire and the subsequent fiscal decisions by Louis XV and Louis XVI aggravated the situation. France was in a constant state of war and debt and the immunity of taxes on the nobility and clergy deprived France of funds that it so desperately needed. France s status as superpower was at threat as Russia, Prussia and above all Great Britain where becoming increasingly powerful, Frances strong desire to retain this power explains the ill advised and catastrophic foreign policies it had adopted. In the American war of independence in 1775 to 1783 France directed its forces to assist the Americans. French aid was pivotal in compelling the British to surrender at Yorktown in 1781. However although the Americans gained much from France s support it led to no successful tangible results for France but it had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This theory focuses solely on children s cognitive development so that is both a strength and a weakness as it gets an in depth understanding of children s cognitive processes however it cannot be generalised to adults. Another strength of this theory is the fact that it can be applied practically within the real world, especially in regards to education as it means children can be taught based upon their developmental stage. It is extremely useful in that sense as it is nomothetic so it can be applied to larger population. The theory contains both continuous and discontinuous, it is discontinuous as it contains distinct hierarchal stages. It is good in one sense as it allows professionals to see if a child is meeting the stages and if they do not action can be taken. At the same time it can be disadvantageous as professionals, such as teachers may not push a child to reach their full cognitive capabilities as they have met the criteria for their age. At the time this was quite revolutionary as children were once considered little adults that only has a slightly less mental and developmental capacity. Therefore they may not have learnt as effective as they could, as they may have been taught above or below their capacity. However with that said it has been suggested that his stages of ... Critics argue that de extinction will reduce the will of society to protect endangered species, as well as harm the existing ecosystem upon species reintroduction. However, supporters argue that many species would be great candidates for de extinctionand will possibly be beneficial to the ecosystem. I will argue that de extinction should not be pursued. I will argue that reintroduction of unextinct species could cause humanity to become disinterested in protecting endangered species due to the loss of finality of extinction. Furthermore, re introduction of extinct species into ecosystems would negatively shift the balance, and may cause endangerment and potential extinction of otherwise unharmed populations. Some supporters of de extinction believe it to be reasonable for reviving recently extinct species as a last resort in their conservation. However, it is a common belief among critics that it is of greater import to protect endangered species and reduce human impact so as to prevent extinction. Shapiro, a supporter of de extinction, argues that de extinction should not compete for funding with measures for protection of endangered species. However, she argues that both extinct and extant species have valuable roles in maintenance of the ecosystem (2015, p. 195). • 23. Socrates In Plato s The Apologia The Apologia Through the analyzing of The Apologia, is it learned much about the life of Socrates as well as how he lived. In the Apology, Plato recounts the words given by Socrates during his trying in which he was sentenced to death. During the trial, Socrates defends himself on two charges, which are set in writing by Meletus, one of the prosecutors. The first set of charges Socrates refers to them as the first lying accusations , and are informal charges to set an image of who people believe Socrates to be. The second set makes up the formal accusations and the charges that they hope commit Socrates to death. The speech was given by Socrates to defend himself to the Athenian Council against chargers of corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods the city believes that are in the novel. Although no such speech was recorded, with the idea that Plato was at the trial, we can conclude that the dialogue of the Apologia contains words as they were remembered by Plato. The original speech was written in 399 BC in hopes of Socrates defending his reputation against his accusers. The speech was then rewritten by Plato as remembers the trial and words . • 24. Utilitarianism Benefits Benefits of Utilitarianism According to the utilitarian theory it believes that the impartiality, fairness, and greater social harmony requires us to balance our interests with those of others. In doing so, utilitarianism provides an effective antidote for the evils of discrimination based on race, gender, religion, and other unjust criteria. This means utilitarians try to find a way to make themselves and others happy. The value of happiness for example, should be distributed to as many people as possible. Considering this, I agree that using the utilitarianismtheory will benefit a society in the distant future. To begin with, negative consequences may be reached to receive a positive outcome. For instance, there are five victims tied down to a railroad and there is a runaway trolley cart heading towards the five victims. If there is a choice to divert that runaway trolley cart to kill that one victim instead of those five, killing that one victim is considered ethical according to the utilitarian theory. Indeed, diverting that runaway trolley from attacking those five victims is a better outcome for the society rather than saving that one sufferer. The reason that is, those five victims are now able to create a society that is far... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eponymous animated film is still a well known story since it was released in 1937. In many ways the film does not hold up to today s standards, and it is devoid of any characters worth being interested in. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfshas some of the most overt gender stereotyping, and relies on centuries old tropes to tell a story that was problematic to begin with. While Snow White may not be as popular as Moana, she is still a prominent part of the princess line up. After eighty years and multiple re releases, Snow White s iconic image is practically synonymous with Disney. With Disney s worldwide influence on children and media, it s hard not to think of the repercussions of the princess phenomenon. Now, what s so wrong about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ? It s just a film after all, meant for entertainment. The problem is how heavily the story relies on sheer dumb luck, and it reinforces antiquated ideas of the gender binary. Let s start with Snow White, the young and radiant princess who sings merrily as she does chores in tattered clothes. Nothing can keep this girl down for long. • 27. Similarities Between Animal Farm And The Truman Show How can achieve the good life? How can we make make a utopia? These are some of the questions when a human gets enough power and control! Within both of the stories, Animal Farm (written by George Orwell) and The Truman Show (directed by Peter Weir). Both author and director explore these three themes . The good life, a utopia and power are some of the keys to living a full and grateful life. To have a utopia you must have a good life and to have a good life you must have power within your life. In the movie The Truman Show Peter Weirshows that power is to control another person s life in one way or another. Whereas in animal farm to have power is to control. The main point can be shown within christof who is the director of the show who controls where truman worked, where he lived and even who he marries. Christof has ultimate power over truman and whatever he does until Truman finds his own freedom within the set, this was shown in one of the end scenes when Christof makes the weather horrible so truman couldn t escape from the dome. This shows that Christof had the most power because he could control another person s life and what they did. Similarly in animal farm power is shown in control and that to have power you have to control over a group, this is shown at the start when farmer jones is in control of all of the animals on the farm and then when the pigs take over to controll all of the other animals. • 28. Healthcare Coverage of the Americans Legislative Position: When U.S. President Barrack Obama signed the health care reform bill into law in March 2010, opposing political pundits were quick to brand the initiative as government takeover of the healthcare system and pejoratively described it as socialized medicine. I considered it my civic duty to look a little deeper into the pros and cons of the issue as earlier research findings had reported 45,000 Americans died annually for lack of health care coverage (Robertson, 2009). The first amazing fact I discovered is that every modern westernized country, with the exception of the United States, broadly accepts and runs some form of socialized medicine. England passed their National Health Service (NHS) Act in 1948, and from that year has provided free physician and hospital services for all her citizens. Government takeover is a concept that contributed to the European approach where government not only owns the hospitals but doctors are also public employees. The health reform bill was enacted by the Congress based largely on the free market and has been criticized for significantly enhancing government regulation of health insurers. However, critics of this law have failed to highlight that it established a system that relies on private companies and the government neither nationalized doctors, nor seized control of institutions offering health care to citizens. • 29. Modern Humans And The Existence Of The Planet Modern humans have been on Earth for more than 200,000 years. Although many people feel that 200,000 years is a fairly long time for us to have existed as a species, it is quite the opposite. The earth is estimated to have been made 4.54 billion years ago. Life as we know it is estimated to have begun 4 billion years ago. When comparing the existence of the humanrace to the existence of the planet we live on or the existence of all forms of life, it becomes very apparent that the humans species time on this planet has been relatively miniscule. If you took the entire history of the 13.7 billion year old universe and compressed it into one year, the first humans would not even show up until 10:30 pm on December 31st. Without having a good understanding of how short our stay on this planet has been, it s very hard for people to imagine a future where humans are no longer an existing species. With how short of a time span we have existed here, and how many species have come and gone in the history of earth, it is not too irrational to fear the possibility of human extinction. Clearly this isn t a threat that is anywhere near imminent, but that is no reason to give it any less thought. A huge flaw of the human race is that we often tend to be short sighted. In renaissance Italy it was said that woman only had one purpose and that purpose was to have many legitimate babies, especially for the nobility and upper status couples. From having these babies, the family could inherit a lot of wealth (King, M. L., 2003). This differs greatly in todays society, as now woman s primary function is not only to produce children. Woman today are seen as equals to men, and have a larger significance than just having their husbands children. Childbearing in the Renaissance was not as easy or as safe as it is today either, as we will further discuss. This paper will explain the role of child birthing and bearing in the Italian Renaissance, everything from mortality rates, to wet nurses and this differs from today s society. As mentioned before, the main role for woman in the renaissance was to produce children for her husband and handle household affairs, this was proven in the document by Alberti when he had said Furthermore, I made it a rule never to speak with her of anything but household matters or of the children. Of these matters I spoke a great deal to her...(Famiglia, D., 1996, pg 40). Thus showing the wife s role was greatly dependent on her house and children. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty five brothels, which contained about 356 prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland s police officials) instigated 11,864 women because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800 s Magdalene asylums were also very common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). Pica is the act of eating items that are non nutritive, in other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Things that could be eaten include glass, couch cushions, chalk, glue, just about anything that normally would not be considered to be taken into the body. This can happen because of trying to avoid high calorie items foods and the desire for weight loss. Rumination disorder is when someone(typically children) have swallowed food and spit it back up and begin chewing it again. This behavior does not happen because of medical reasons either. In the study, they used 149 females that had eating disorders and 100 men and women that were considered obese. There were few reports of eating non edible objects. Spend time in the space and select the most important and visible walls in those rooms. These walls should be considered the focal points of your design. When choosing art for these spaces, consider the size that art will need to be in order to take up enough visual space. Match the size and shape of the pieces to the walls. For instance, if you have a long horizontal wall, hang a long horizontal piece of art. In the same space, you could also hand a collection of pieces in order to take up more horizontal space. By accentuating the height or length of the wall, you will be making the room feel larger. Choosing Art For Your Bedroom When choosing art for your bedroom, it is important that you consider what it is you would like to get out of the space. Is your bedroom a place of rest, a place to unwind, or a place for romance? The style and mood of the art you choose should be in line with your overall plans for your bedroom space. Because art is such an emotive tool, it is particularly important in your bedroom that the colors of the art displayed help accomplish your bedroom s overarching theme. For example, red is the color of passion, and although a painting that uses a large swathe of red is great for a room designated for romance, it may not be well suited in a room designated for relaxation. • 40. Key Factors Of A Gifted Student s Educational Experience... Our gifted programming standards take several factors of a gifted student s educational experience into account. Our primary goal is for each gifted student to develop well rounded academically, socially, and emotionally. To accomplish this goal we integrate our gifted programming standards with the academic standards. We have specific student outcomes with which we use the academic content to accomplish. Student outcomes are grouped into four areas. Cognitive Growth and Talent Development Students benefit from meaningful and challenging learning activities that address their unique characteristics and needs. (Standard 1.6) Students become more competent and develop their abilities. (Standards 3.2 3.3) The interventions we use are designed to increase challenge and develop self efficacy in our students. We operate at the three highest levels of Bloom s Taxonomy: synthesis, evaluation, and analysis. Students use metacognition where they notice their thoughts and record their thinking. This allows us to ratchet up the level of their thinking through the types of questions we ask. We want our students to become self regulated learners. We encourage them to set goals and recognize their accomplishments. They learn to self monitor and adapt to changes using a variety of learning strategies. • 42. Analysis Of Educating Yorkshire Throughout this assignment, I will be critically analysing how Educating Yorkshire represents teaching, whilst making strong references to teacher relationships and engagement. It could be assumed that teachers are solely there to teach, which of course they do, however, the role of a teacher goes beyond the delivery of the curriculum. Although modern day teaching may involve a much more pupil centred approach known as the progressivism approach , present teachers still have highly complex roles when it comes to the every day involvement that they have in their pupils lives and learning. This is true of a recent fly on the wall documentary named Educating Yorkshire , which is filmed in a high schoolin Yorkshire. According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the two ideologies have a strong link as becoming that stable and supportive figure as a teacher who also is perceived as approachable and welcoming to pupils, can give you the power to capture their attention as you are aware of how you can engage them. Teachers have the ability to use different relationship styles as a method of handling different types of personalities and keeping them on track with their learning. The type of teacher and pupil professional relationship help teachers to not only pass their knowledge on to the pupils but pass on life skills such as ways in which pupils can manage their behaviour to best benefit their learning. Educating Yorkshire shows how differently the teachers have established relationships with the pupils and how this can impact the pupils behaviour and feelings towards their time in school and their learning development. Contrasting personalities and teaching styles of two teachers at the school in Yorkshire, supports this idea of the results of different teacher and pupils relationships. For example, Mrs Marsden can be described as a motherly figure and a shoulder to cry on, whilst still able to advise pupils into the right direction that will best benefit their learning. In one episode, Mrs Marsden is comforting a young pupil who has just had a fight with another pupil. The pupil who has a large amount of trust for Mrs Marsden, opened up to her quite easily and appeared to be very relaxed in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Broadway began getting more known in 1882 when a family named the Mallory s decided to build the Madison Square Theatre. But to their advantage other attractive entertainment started being built in that section, like The Casino Theatre, the Abby Theatre, and the Empire Theatre. She was known for having fiction short stories based off the more feminist side of her life. However, the theme is more based of the realistic takes of life on the unfairness of socioeconomic status in America. Though hard to get directly into it was an interesting read. The story is told in first person narrative from the life of an African Americangirl named Sylvia. The short story discusses the problems she faces in life from appearance issues, equal rights, and shame. The Lesson was an intriguing story filled with history, told by a fictional character on a toy story journey to learn a lesson of equality. The story is about a trip put together by Miss Moore, one of the main characters. Miss Moore in a sense is the antagonist to the story, putting these kids in a difficult, but real life situation. • 46. Essay about Magic Empowers Women in La Casa de Los Espiritus Magic empowers women in La casa de los espГritus Discuss. In Isabel Allende s first novel, La casa de los espГritus the reader is introduced to her use of magic as a means which enables women to feel sustained in times of difficulty and which provides them with a power base (Bennett, C. 2003:174). Interestingly, the women s connection with the spiritual and magical stands in contrast to the men s rejection of anything that doesn t adhere to their strict perception of morbid reality. Therefore, Allende quite clearly outlines magical properties as essentially feminine (Shaw, D. 1997:116) and spirituality in all its forms as a province of the female of the species (Hart, S. 2005:275) only. It can be argued that women and magic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It therefore represents a place for her to be alone with the spirits and creates a safe haven away from the destructiveness and aggressiveness of her husband. Even though AgosГn s statement rejects Clara s passivity, it is possible to disagree on the basis that she did not have sufficient information, and possessed neither the power nor the tools necessary (Allende, I. 1984:41) to bring about her liberation therefore she was forced to refer to what can be read as passive resistance. • 47. The Endings Of Sophocles Antigone Although they are versions of the same play, the endings of Sophocles Antigone and Anne Carson s Antigonick convey contrasting ideas of the power of fate, and its role in tragedy. In Antigone, fate is described as an inevitable, insurmountable aspect of life that cannot be avoided. On the other hand, Antigonick shows fate to be a malleable product which can be controlled by the decisions individuals take in their lives. Through the role of the chorus, the addition of Nick, and the catharses of the characters, Carson shows that fate is something which we can master. In both texts, the responsibility of the chorus is to comment upon the play s proceedings, and to make key observations about the characters actions. As Antigone is being paraded to her burial in Antigone, the chorus states, The power of fate is a wonder,/ dark, terrible wonder / neither wealth nor armies/ towered walls nor ships/ black hulls lashed by the salt/ can save us from that force. (1045 1050) It emphasizes that fate is very powerful, and that it is not within humans capacity to alter. Thus, Antigone and Creon are never capable of influencing their own lives; they are not responsible for the tragedythat ensues, because fate would have seen to it anyway. In contrast, the chorus in Antigonick says that it likes to find precedents, pointing out that We re not at a loss how to think about this/ We re not without guidance. There are many things that happen to these pigs for us to have something as simple as pork chops. Some things are just cruel, and some are just unbelievable, but it s true. Of course there are the benefits and the risks, but which one weighs more? This is what you decide. To start off with, pigs need fifty square feet to live a healthy lifestyle, but in most pig farms in the US, pigs only receive about only twenty square feet if they are in good conditions. Most mother pigs spend majority of their lives crammed into metal cages. After mother pigs give birth, then they are moved into cages only big enough to nurse their young, but too small for them to turn over. Once the piglets are about one month old, they are torn from their mothers and crammed in a room filled with other piglets. Male piglets get their testicles cut out when they are only ten days old. In recent years there has been increasing awareness of marine mammals and the threats they face within our coastal environments (Department of Conservation1, n.d.). The Banks Peninsula Marine Mammal Sanctuary was implemented in 1988 as a result of conflict between local and commercial fisherman, and the endangered Hector s dolphin. Due to increasing concern despite the sanctuary s set up, the Hector s and Maui s Dolphin Threat Management Plan was drafted in 2007 to place further restrictions on fishing practices within the area. The formation of the sanctuary has created a safer habitat for the local dolphin population, but in the process has negatively affected the livelihoods of many local fishermen within the region.
