Heroism Definition Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of heroism is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor, requiring a
delicate balance between personal interpretation and a comprehensive exploration of diverse
perspectives. The difficulty lies not only in defining heroism but also in navigating the myriad of
cultural, historical, and individual contexts that shape this complex concept.
One must grapple with the inherent subjectivity of heroism, acknowledging that what constitutes
a hero varies across cultures and epochs. The writer faces the challenge of delving into the
nuances of heroism – from the epic tales of legendary figures to the unsung heroes in
everyday life. Striking a balance between providing a broad understanding of heroism and
delving into the intricacies of its manifestation in different scenarios requires finesse.
Moreover, the essayist must navigate the ethical dimensions surrounding heroism. Questions
about the motives and actions of individuals labeled as heroes, as well as the potential for
heroism to be exploited or misinterpreted, add layers of complexity. Balancing admiration with
critical analysis is essential to present a nuanced and thought-provoking perspective.
Research plays a crucial role in overcoming the hurdles of this topic. A thorough examination of
historical events, literary works, and contemporary examples is necessary to construct a well-
informed argument. Integrating diverse sources and weaving them into a coherent narrative
poses another layer of difficulty, demanding not only analytical skills but also the ability to
synthesize information effectively.
In conclusion, writing an essay on heroism is a formidable task that requires a writer to navigate
through the complexities of definition, cultural variations, ethical considerations, and a vast body
of literature. It is an intellectual journey that demands both analytical prowess and creative
insight to provide a comprehensive and engaging exploration of the multifaceted nature of
heroism.

Conflict In The Workplace Case Study
A study obtained from the Journal of Organizational Behavior emphasizes main topic
points that workplace conflict can generate team effectiveness and result in positive
outcomes regarding goal setting. The data used within this study was collected from
China. The collection of this data within this location of the world can have a little
bias impact due to the nature that the cultural values in the East are different than
those cultural values of the West. This viewpoint will be briefly touched upon
further into the analysis of this article. To begin with, the synopsis of this article is
based around the knowledge of organizational behaviors related to conflict in the
workplace. The research provided in the article was conducted among... Show more

Those questionnaires were the final measurements of the study. Moreover, the results
of the study supported their argument that conflict can contribute to effective
teamwork. The article conveys that task conflicts and relational conflicts can have a
positive or negative effect on the organization depending how the approach is
handled. According to Edwin Locke s Handbook of Principles of Organizational
Behavior, relationship conflicts are based on personality clashes and can be
detrimental to team morale and the team performance (Weingart Jehn, 2009, p. 327).
Task conflicts can be beneficial to any organization, only if managed when
collaboration between two or more individuals share values and work together
towards a common goal. The findings of this study show that facing the conflict at
hand improved the worker s attitudes. The findings also suggested that team members
who openly approach conflict will improve their performance. According to the
article, avoiding conflict does not mean conflict disappears; eventually, avoiding
types of conflict will result in competition among members of the team (Tjosyold,
Chun, Ding, Hu, 2003). Competition will disrupt the work environment and may not
result in positive outcome for the team or the organization. According to research,
competitive interaction will allow members of a team to outdo one another. This
could result in negative consequences such as the team members will not utilize each
John P Kennedy
Rose Fitzgerald and John P. Kennedy met as teenagers while their families
vacationed together at Old Orchard Beach. By October 14th, 1914, the two were
happily married and ready to move into their first home as newlyweds. They first
lived in a building on Beals street that stood three stories tall with a grey
finish.Within the next eighteen years, the couple would have their nine children
and Rose would inherit the well deserved name as a model parent by friends and
neighbors. John P. Kennedy began his life in their first home with a salary of
around $10,000 but left the Brookline residence as a millionaire. Kennedy s
Grandfather, Francis Fitzgerald, began his political career as a city councilman,
progressed to a congressman, and was elected as mayor in 1906. He served the
position as mayor until 1913 when Francis life as a politician came to a halt after a
sex scandal threat came into play. Kennedy s older brother Joe, joined the US Navy
at the same time that John did so. Joe was unfortunately killed in combat and never
returned home. The Kennedy familyis full of success stories and intriguing
characters. John F Kennedy was said to beborn into a clan that was amassing wealth

Rival candidate Nixon however, stuck with his idea that experience counts referring
to Kennedy s young age. John was attempting to reach out to the elderly voters by
stressing the need for adequate health insurance accessibility. Kennedy pushed the
idea that many schools needed an increase in federal funding to soften the blow of
the previous baby boom. Kennedy fought the claim that his executive order to
desegregate federally funded housing would help end a piece of discrimination.
Throughout his campaign, John stuck to his liberal platform endorsing his beliefs

Theme Of Bravery In IM Not Scared
The film Life is Beautiful directed by Roberto Benigni and NiccolГІ Ammaniti s film
I m not Scared explore the theme of bravery of their protagonists in their
comparatively dissimilar settings. The 1997 Italian film Life is Beautiful follows
the life of a charming man who uses his humor to win over the woman of his
dreams and bravely save his family from the tragedy in Italy during the Second
World War. Also set in the late 1970s in rural southern Italy, the film
I m not Scared
encompasses imprisonment and the developing friendship of Michele and Filippo
who is kidnapped for ransom. Filippo is chained up and hungry when Michelle
discovers him in a pit near an abandoned house and he helps the boy out. Bravery is
prominently explored in both texts through dialogue, colour, and setting.
Benigni and Ammaniti present bravery through the dialogue presented by the
protagonists Guido and Michele. The dialogue that Guido speaks reveals plenty
about his personality and nature and gives the audience a firm understanding of
his character. The beginning of the film presents a lot of humor and the audience
is introduced to a fairytale like story. Guido constantly uses his wit and comedic
nature to impress his lover Dora, and often on their encounters he enthusiastically
exclaims Buongiorno Princess! By referring to Dora as a princess illustrates that
Guido believes she is perfect and seeing as he repeatedly says this phrase also
conveys his ability to appear when least expected. Despite the transition in the film
to a completely different setting and situation, dialogue plays a key role in
communicating to the audience Guido s ability to lift the hopes and provide
ongoing love and sacrifice for those around him. When Guido and son Joshua are
separated from Dora at the concentration camp they shout Buongiorno Princess! into
the microphone. A reaction shot is then used to show Dora s familiarity with these
words and her understanding that her husband and son are alive. The use of this
common greeting is effective in this film because it conveys that despite the sudden
change of lifestyle for Guido and his family, Guido s personality ensures his humor
and devotion are expressed until the very end of the film which shows

Analysis Of Mountains Beyond Mountains
For my summer reading, I chose to read Mountains Beyond Mountains: the Quest
of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World. I chose this book without
reading the description and mainly based my selection on the great reviews for this
book online as well as the fact that the author, Tracy Kidder, had won a Pulitzer
Prize in the past. Ultimately, this book turned out to be as remarkable as the reviews
stated it was.
2. Paul Farmer had a very unusual upbringing in Massachusetts, Alabama, and
Florida. What specific elements from his childhood and family life prepared Farmer
for his current life? How has your upbringing influenced your own choices and goals
in life?
As Kidder discusses Dr. Farmer s childhood, it is easy to see how his nomadic and
modest lifestyle early on helped him adjust to living the life he led in Haiti and
around the globe. As a child, Dr. Farmer not only dealt with moving from state to
state, but also having to adjust to different living conditions ranging from living in
a tent to living on bus with his parents and 5 other siblings. Kidder also focuses in
on the work ethic his parents exemplified to him and his five other siblings. They
were all taught to appreciate the little they had and to never be embarrassed for the
lack of material objects they did not (Kidder). Most importantly, his family
encouraged Farmer s desire to learn. For example, when he was just a child, Farmer
started a herpetology club where his family stepped in as members
Nora Helmer
Nora Helmer in the play A Doll s House is a character who deceives more than one
character throughout the play. In the beginning she starts off as a wife who loves
the attention she gets from her husband, Torvald Helmer, and is spending money
before they have even earned it yet. She has a conversation with one of her friends,
Mrs. Linde, in act 1 where she is telling her all about her glamorous life with all the
things she possess. Later on in the play we learn that she has borrowed money
which leads to different problems. In the end, Nora ends up leaving Andy never
returns. In the beginning, Nora confesses to Mrs. Linde about her admirers when
she is visited by her. This is Nora s first deceptive action in the play. Nora tells
about the great deal of money she had came into to help Torvald with his sickness.
She leads Mrs. Linde many times into wondering about one specific admirer that may
have given her money. Just when Mrs. Linde guesses who the admirer might be, Nora
shuts the conversation down by denying that it s him. She continues to mislead Mrs
Linde with different admirers. We later find out that Nora... Show more content on

However, it doesn t justify the rest of her lies to her friends and husband. Her
deceptive actions then cause problems to stir up in her relationship with Torvald.
Krogstad warns Nora that if Torvals fires him, he will take her down with him.
Nora then tries to convince Mrs. Linde to persuade Krogstad to not inform Torvald
about the situation, however once Krogstad is confronted by Mrs. Linde she tells
him to expose Nora. Two letters are sent to the Helmer residence both addressed to
Torvald. He comes to learn about Nora s forgery and loses his mind and yells and is
shamming her for her actions. In the end, everything that Nora had acquired with
Torvald, everything she bragged about, was taken from her because of her deceptive

Students with lower functioning capabilities may need more assessment of daily
living and functional life skills than standards that are above their abilities.
2.More time is needed to covering prerequisite activities for the standards. There is a
wide range of skills and abilities among students with significant cognitive skills.
These students require more repetition to learn the required standard or to show
progress.
3.More instructional materials need to be created to support students with significant
cognitive disabilities. Teachers have to design their materials to match the cognitive
abilities of their students. A teacher created assessment can be very time consuming
and does not always match the grade level standards
4.There is not enough understanding of how to teach grade level standards to a group
of students in different grade levels with different disabilities and capabilities.
Teachers need to know how to differentiate instruction to help students learn the test
material.

Colombia And The Revolutionary Armed Forces Of
Colombia
In Colombia, a historic peace accord has been brokered between the government and
the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) that is set to end half a
century of conflict between the state and the terrorist organization. The FARC rebels
have long been a powerful member of the cocaine trade in Colombiaand beyond,
aiding in the development and exportation of the drug to the United States. With the
alliance between the FARC rebels and the Colombian government pending, the
FARC will be demilitarized and integrated back into Colombian society for the first
time in more than 50 years. Upon this historic event, roughly 60% of Colombia s coca
, the plant used to produce cocaine, will be relinquished from the hold of the rebels.

government intervened in the situation, authorizing Plan Colombia, a $1.3 billion
aid package intended to reinforce the Colombian government and build up their
military. With this support, anti drug programs were initiated that slowed the
FARC profits from the drug trade, today leaving the FARC controlling 60% of the
world s coca crops and earning anywhere from $200 million up to $1 billion
annually from the drug trade. The current peace accord talks began on February
23, 2012, when delegates from both the FARC and the Colombian government
started meeting covertly in Havana, Cuba. Following the formation of the Havana
Accord on August 26 of that same year, formal peace negotiations began on
September 4. This accord makes clear six focal points: (1) integrated agricultural
development policy, (2) political participation for the FARC, (3) end of the conflict
Disarmament, (4) solution to the problem of illicit drugs, (5) victims, and (6)
implementation, verification, and ratification by the Colombian People. For the
purposes of this paper, agenda points 1 and 4 will be most heavily referenced and
analyzed. Agenda Item 1 was agreed upon on May 26, 2013. The Rural Reform
Agreement focuses on the people, the small producer, land access and distribution,
the fight against poverty, stimuli to agricultural and livestock production and the
reactivation of the rural economy. The success of this endeavor is critical to

Mountain Home Junior High Reinvented Their After
School...
This past year, Mountain Home Junior High reinvented their after school program.
Throughout the year, several students in the program dropped out, and by the end of
the school year, only ten students were being served. The ineffectiveness of the
program, in my opinion, was due to a weak initiation phase before the program was
implemented. A small committee was formed to write a grant from the program, set
the program goals. There were no teachers, teacher leaders, or counselors on the
committee and no input from community members or parents were considered. The
curriculum for the program centered only on addressing benchmark scores of basic
and below basic students and did not meet any other needs or the students. As a
counselor, I heard complaints from parents throughout the year that their children
would benefit more from having homework help and extended instruction. Teachers
felt as if they were already using instruction time during the regular school day to
prepare students for the last year s PARCC and now the ACT Aspire exams. It is
evident the administration made a few key errors in the initiation phase that led to the
unsuccessful nature of the program. First, they did not gain buy in from stakeholders
such as teachers, students, and parents (AR1.6, AR2.1, AR3.7, AR4.3, AR5.4, AR7.1,
AR7.2, AR8.1 and AR8.2). They did not consider the needs of the whole child and,
instead, only focused on bringing up state test scores of certain individuals.
Newborn Child Development

breastfeeding until 6 months of age and keeping on breastfeeding until 12 months.
Only breastfed newborn children regularly require vitamin D supplements, as bosom
milk is not a decent wellspring of this vitamin. Around 6 months, you can begin
presenting strong nourishments, for example, iron strengthened rice grain or pureed
meats. Specialists prescribe presenting one nourishment at once so you can check for
resilience and sustenance hypersensitivities. Toddlers are eating more blended dishes,
figuring out how to get sustenances with their fingers and encouraging themselves.

Effects Of World War I Ended On The 1920s
When World War I ended on November 11, 1918, President Warren G. Harding
proposed a return to normalcy . This promised a return of the United States prewar
mentality, without the thought of war contaminating the minds of the American
people. With this in mind, the 1920s began but Americans in the 1930s witnessed
dramatic changes in their lives from the 1920s. The 1920s was a period of
prosperity and economic success, while the 1930s was a time of economic downfall.
The economy fluctuated between times of great prosperity and times of undoubtable
depression. Following these economic downturns was a period of rigorous attempts

They contributed to society with innovations in music and literature that promoted
the cultural growth of America in the 1920s. Also, this helped feed the Harlem
Renaissance , a cultural movement that spanned the 1920s in which black art,
literature, and music experienced renewal and growth, originating in New York
City s Harlem district. It was a period of great achievement by African American
writers, poets, artists, and performers. Similarly, the 1930s was occupied by the
ability of African Americans to get jobs on Works Progress Administration projects
because discrimination was banned by Executive Order 7046. During this time, a
multitude of African Americans received wages from the WPA twice as much as
their prior earnings. Another program that aided African Americans was Harold Icke
s Public Works Administration. This program provided to black tenants a more than
fair share of the public housing it built. Additionally, Ickes utilized the quota system
by Public Works Administration to hire African Americans in proportion to their
numbers in local workforce (Document 8b). All in all, the two decades emphasized
how there was an encouragement of minorities. Moreover, multiple new occupations
were opening for middle class women. Once they got out of schools and colleges,

Differences Between Henri De Lautrec s Painting And
Degas...
Lautrec once said, I paint things as they are. I don t comment ( Henri de Toulouse
Lautrec quotes, n.d.). A painting can represent various objects and emotions within a
square canvas, which each artist creates an artwork with different techniques. These
make each painting has it own meaning. There are several differences between
Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists themselves, the subject
matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a
person who produces an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was
born into an aristocratic family, which seems to be beneficial to him. However, he
was born with a genetic condition. Between the ages of thirteen and fourteen, his
legs were fractured, and both of them ceased to grow because he had a skeletal
disorder that causes his bones to recover improperly (Johnson Whitten, 2003). Due
to his abnormality, he was not able to do the same activities as others, so he mainly
focused on art. He became a well known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Composition means the position that each element placed in a painting. Lautrec
managed the position of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on
the center and painting this ballerina in a major scale of the artwork (Martin, 2003).
On the other hand, Degas painted two objects in Waiting, and the artist divided the
space into two section for each of them (Martin, 2003). There are numerous
techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in Pink Tight,
Lautrec s painting, focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is
a ballerina. On the other side, Degas s painting illustrates several features, which is a
ballerina and a woman dressing in black, in order to support the contrary detail of
each feature. In summary, composition is the fourth
Support Group Reflection
Translating What I learned In the grief support group I co lead with a Licensed
Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and supervised by a Master of Social
Work I learned how to facilitate a meeting. The LPCC taught me the person
centered approach and the social worker taught me to monitor client s progression
of goals. She allowed me to take lead, to link members together by similarities they
share, and to give members homework. The LPCC believed in self disclosure, she
demonstrated this for me in a fantastic manner the social worker I was with did as
well. Teaching me that it is great to self disclose when appropriate and when it will
benefit the progression of the group or for them to feel comfortable trusting the
leader. In my group sessions I did not deem self disclosure appropriate to use. How
I will translate this is to be aware of my clients, to ask them what goals they hope to
achieve, and for them to keep journals of progress. I will create a safe atmosphere
for clients to speak, provide affirmation, and help clients set and maintain goals.
Evolution of Grief Support Group The grief support group I co led was an open
group. This led to introductions and a small orientation at the beginning of each
session to create a positive tone for the group. The other leader led this introduction
for the first few sessions and asked me to observe, study, and determine how I would
like to convey an introductory message and the ground rules for the next sessions.

CSI Effect Essay
The CSI Effect is when jurors wrongfully acquit guilty defendants when no
scientific evidence is presented (Neubauer, 2014 pg 370). Not until the 1990 s
many techniques for forensics were not known to regular people, only scientist and
criminal lawyers knew the procedures. That was until Hollywood started to have
dramas about crime, and forensics on television. Crime Scene Investigation was
very popular, drawing in ten to thirty million viewers a week. While many did not
watch any of the crime shows, it is significant to jurors that did. Although
Schweitzer and Saks in 2007, found that forensic evidence presented in a trial to
CSI viewers, any evidence they were shown was less believable than to people who
did not watch CSI. Even with those findings, the verdicts of both CSI watchers, and

According to the National Institute of Justice 46% of jurors expect some type of
evidence presented. With almost it being half of all jurors I do believe the CSI Effect
exists. Personally, if I was a juror in a criminal case I would want to see some type
of proof whether it s visual, physical, or scientific that shows the defendant is
guilty. I do not take an eye witness because sometimes people cannot be trusted.
Without having any kind of evidence it can be detrimental for law enforcement and
prosecutors. They can believe they have the right guy, and they very could have
the right person. Yet, without evidence the defendant s defence can be that
prosecutors, or law enforcement have no evidence. From being in many criminal
justice classes, most of my teachers have said this, It is very hard to prove rape,
and hard to not prove rape. Without evidence, especially back in the day rape was
easy to be acquitted from. Now with rape kits, or having some sort of DNA it is
easier to prove someone committed rape. ANother study by the National Institute of
Justice found that CSI
Persuasive Essay On Video Games
Video games are enjoyed by many around the globe because of the wide variety of
genres available on the market today. These genres range from single player role

do people seem to enjoy slandering this industry and blame them for hatred, crime,

of playing video games? Video games are making children aggressive and violent!
Said no intelligent person on this planet ever. There has been a debate for decades
on whether or not video games are the centre cause of aggressive behaviour in
children due to the amount of exposure to mature themes. There high doubts that
video games are the cause of hostility in kids and should be seen responsible. There
are millions of television shows that contain much more mature and inappropriate
content, yet no one bats an eye but all of a sudden when a virtual person shoots a

influence but what pieces of evidence do they have that back up their claim? A
psychologist named Andy Przybylski from the University of Oxford concluded his
experiment and stated there was no solid proof that links violent video games with
aggressive behaviour 1. The hostility of a person can be caused by many things like

Corporate And Business Strategy Analysis
The Corporate and Business Strategy
Before we can talk about the Strategy Hudson Bay uses we must first answer the the
question of what a Corporate and Business Strategy is and how The Bay inaugurates
this into their company;
A Corporate Strategy in its simplest form is the the drive of the company as this
has the goal/goals a company is trying to achieve and at what level it wishes to
compete. Keeping this in mind we can now talk about the Hudson Bays corporate
strategy. The Hudson Bay s mission statement is a vision for growth and is
committed to bringing Canadians the products and services they want . The Hudson
Bay is the oldest commercial company in North America, and as such expects to be
at the forefront competing at the highest level in its industry, In addition they have a
goal to make $1.5 billion in incremental sales and revenue. Now that we have
identified the corporate strategy of Hudson bay we must identify how they plan to
achieve these goals this is known as the business strategy.
A business strategy is how a company intends to accomplish the corporate level
strategy it does this by highlighting key objectives and appointing these objective to
different divisions in the company, now that we understand what a business strategy
is we can examine how Hudson bay inaugurates this into their business strategy. They
prioritize accommodating the demands of Canadians and providing quality service to

the direct and proximate result of Skanska USA Building, Inc. s ( Skanska s )

When the gasket failed, water from the fire suppression system drenched valuable

they discovered the rupture, but not before significant damage had been done to the
MRI equipment, drywall, carpet, and tiling. Most notably, the manufacture of the
MRI equipment declared the same to be a total loss. UMMS further anticipates that
it will undergo significant expenses to replace and appropriately install pipe fittings
and gaskets in a manner that comports to the October 2013 contract between UMMS
and Skanska. Skanska owed a duty of reasonable care to install the fire suppression
pipe fittings and their accompanying gaskets. Skanska breached that duty by
installing the fire suppression system in a haphazard fashion, and specifically,
crimping multiple gaskets while installing pipe fittings. Due to Skanska s faulty

Blue told Gary how it can make him sick if he eats it.
Blue also tells Gary how trash is bad for the ocean. The trash is hurtful to the animals

The trash is really bad for the animals and the ocean. The pollution is slowly
Television and Education
UGC s use of Television for Education
For over two decades University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has been using
television for higher education. In 1984 UGC launched UGC Countrywide
Classroom on Doordarshan the National Network of Television in India. Specially
designed educational television programs, either imported or locally produced, were
telecast for the benefit of undergraduate and post graduate students across the country.
The need for using television for higher education was necessitated due to enormous
growth in student population in higher education and increase in number of higher

participants across the country. UGC has successfully used the virtual classrooms for
conduct of workshops, training programs and online courses. In addition to the

engage academics, media professionals and multimedia experts in packaging of
knowledge in various forms. These initiatives include: Development of e Content,

the technology is spreading across the rural areas, satellites and transponders are

What Is The Theme Of A Sorrowful Women By Gail Godwin
Gail Godwin s short story A sorrowful women obtains a lot of language and
imagination of fairy tales, which illustrate a picture of practically unachievable
family members in this case, a perfect husband, an ideal maid as well as an
excellent child. The wife s improbable statements resembling hate message and
some emotional blackmailing is seen earlier in the story. Ironically, her hate
towards everybody as well as her duty as a devoted mother and housewife become
a burden to her, however, tries different roles, but, finds none of them fulfill her
hole in the heart. She is acclimated to a particular part and has a hard time adapting
when a broader cluster of decisions are presented to her. The story is told as ironic
fantasy. It starts with the straightforward tall tale opening: Once upon a time there
was a wifeand mother one too many times. This opening presents both the tone and
the subject of the story. The fable like tone is kept up in the creator s laconic style.
The sentences are short and basic, and the general tone in a matter of certainty and
goal, adding to the incongruity of the circumstance. The anonymous characters go up
against all general or fable like quality, and the prompt time and region of the story
are undisclosed. The understanding and generous husbandsolid, responsive and
delicate, unable to redeem his wife. The kid is tender and golden three, practically
radiant. Indeed, even the young lady who is hired to take care of the child is
Spider Muticae Lab Report
Abstract
The two spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) consider one of the major
economic plant feeding pests, attacking a wide range of hosts all over the world,
resulting in severe economic injury and occasionally plant death. In Egypt,
phytophagous mites are serious pests on crops, vegetable and fruits and frequently
cause considerable losses in plant yields, where mites are one of the worst pests of
tomatoes and strawberry. T. urticae is feeding on the foliage that may significantly
reduce plant vigor, causes necrosis in young leaves and stems, which decreases
photosynthesis and transpiration, lower total yield, and diminish fruit quality in case
of large population of the spider mite can destroy whole plants, resulting in complete

Methodology
1.Susceptible Strain
To establish baseline toxicity and concentration response curves, an acaricide naГЇve
susceptible strain of T. urticae will be tested for response to specific acaricides
applied to leaf discs at controlled concentrations. The susceptible acaricide naГЇve

T. urticae will be maintained and reared continuously on a food supply consisting
of baby lima bean plants under conditions of 28 В± 1В°C, 70В±5 RH, and a 16 h

Wickham Masculinity
We live in a society which idealises a man of big muscles, big egos and small
brains. In this generation, it s all about looks and how men portray themselves to
be. We ve moved into an era where personal qualities such as emotions and all that
lovey dovey stuff only make you feminine. Recently, while scrolling through my
timeline as every bored teenager does to avoid doing work, I came across an article
on the pressure of masculinityour society enforced on men . To my understanding,
four out of ten males feel they lack the qualities and abilities that partners look for in
a man, with 61% of all respondents agreeing that men are stereotyped in the media.
We are on the verge of fictionilising the malespecies, and what it truly means to be...

In a letter to her aunt, she describes that whether married or single, he [Wickham]
must always be her model of the amiable and pleasing. Elizabeth fails to understand
the propriety of the situation, as she tries to set a married man and a single man on
an equal footing. Being masculine is in no way reconcilable; for a married man, it
would be a grave offense to try and attract an unmarried young woman such as
Elizabeth. Wickham is corrupting his masculinity into nothing but adulterous ways.
Through a stroke of luck, Wickham is forced to marry Lydia. Wickham has no
trouble securing Lydia s consent for marriage, proving to possess desirable qualities
of a man. This emphasises that Wickham is nonetheless very masculine, proved by
his success with courting women; particularly, Lydia. Both sisters have received
attention and been charmed the dashing Wickham but only Elizabeth s less likable,
less relatable little sister falls prey to him. Although Wickham s drawbacks are not
evident to Lydia, she falls head over heels by his
Tribal Law
Tribal Law and Reconciliation in the New Iraq The main theme Katherine Blue
Carroll s, Tribal Law and Reconciliation in the New Iraq is regarding the unsuccessful
attempts made by the Iraqi government to enhance and endorse reconciliation
between the two Muslim communities that reside in Iraq, Sunni and Shi a. However,
the futile attempts of Government of Iraqallowed tribal leaders to reunite the Iraqi
community through tribal law. The author s main theme is to portray the efforts of
Shaykhs in post conflict reconciliation (how tribal law works in Iraq in
reconciliation) where state authority disappoints to do so. The author conducts
interviews with various Shaykhs to understand how the traditional tribal law work
in the new Iraq. She explains how the tribal law works and how it has worked in

Conspiracy In Othello And Catiline
The Conspiracy of Catiline and Cicero s Consulship
Cicero had many tough decisions during his life. One of these was what to do about
Catiline and his conspirators. Cicero had made a law that prohibited people from
running for legislatures to not be able to bribe voters in order to get elected. Catiline,
while running for a position in the legislature, knew that this law had been partially
made because of him. Catiline wanted to obtain consulship and overthrow the Roman
government. Catiline, at first, just wanted to kill the two consuls, but then he decided
to kill all of the Senate. Although Catiline was planning on killing the men running
the government, he still tried to get legitimately elected. Catiline recruited other

Cicero and the Senate had to decide what the punishment for the conspirators
should be. Multiple people had different ideas about the punishment. Caesar
wanted all of the conspirators goods to be taken and put the conspirators into

to destroy the Republic and wage war against the country. Cato wanted them to see
what the punishment for other crimes similar to this one would be hoping this
would discourage conspiracies in the future. Cicero and the Senate decided to kill
some of the men while also letting some of them live. This decision was probably
the most agreeable and best decision, but it also caused Cicero problems for his own

Decision support systems assist managers who must make decisions that are not
highly structured, often called unstructured or semi structured decisions. A decision
is considered unstructured if there are no clear procedures for making the decision
and if not all the factors to be considered in the decision can be readily identified in
advance. Judgement of the manager plays a vital role in decision making where the
problem is not structured. The decision support system supports, but does not replace,
judgement of manager.
4. Office Automation Systems
Office automation systems are among the newest and most rapidly expanding
computer based information systems. They are being developed with the hopes and
expectations that they will increase the efficiency and productivity of office workers
typists, secretaries, administrative assistants, staff professionals, managers and the
like. Many organisations have taken the First step toward automating their offices.
Often this step involves the use of word processing equipment to facilitate the typing,
storing, revising and printing of textual materials. Another development is a computer
based communications system such as electronic mail which allows people to
communicate in an electronic mode through computer terminals. An office
automation system can be described as a multi function, integrated computer based
system that allows many office activities to be performed in an electronic mode.

In The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Stevenson uses diction, imagery, and

The author created a mood of pain and agony. To find the mood there are two
keywords, trampled, because Hyde s murdering an innocent girl and screaming
because she s dying harshly.

One if it is she used to many bombastic words in her writing. This might cause the
reader to be confused with what they are reading. For example the usage of the
word existential crisis (Amee LaTour 2014) (p.14) (line 108). This problem also
continued when she used the word inadequate (Amee LaTour 2014) (p.12) (line 95).
Another shortcoming in this article is that it is hard to know where to go with
LaTour s arguments. In expressing her concerns about the causes of low self esteem,
LaTour thinks that the choices a person make can improve their self esteem (p.18)
(line142) . This is an unrealistic argument. The choices that a person might not be the

This critical review has reviewed an article 8 common causes of low self esteem by

having low self esteem issues. She does a good job in making her article reader

Vivaldi Solo Concerto Essay
The solo concerto was a feature piece for a solo instrument accompanied by a
contrasting ensemble, the biggest difference between the concerto grosso and the
solo concerto was the contrast between the solo and the tutti sections were even
longer and much more detailed. It wasn t until the eighteenth century that the solo
concertobecame popular, the most well known composer of the solo concerto was
Antonio Vivaldi. It was Vivaldi s clean melodies, expertise with solo passages and the
contrast in timbre between the orchestraand solo parts that his concertos are among
the most famous of all other composers. Vivaldi wrote over five hundred concertos
mostly for his own instrument the violin, but also for the trumpet, cello, oboe flute

Vivaldi s music was innovative, flamboyant and bright. In this way he managed to
embellish the formal structure of the solo concerto. This form of concerto gave
soloists a chance to show off their virtuosity, especially violinists on the new
instruments thanks to luthiers such as Stradivarius and Guarneri. Vivaldi s solo
concertos provided musicians with a much wider range of colour by using
orchestration techniques of pizzicato and muted strings and contrast which was
unparalleled at the time. He mostly followed the simple three movement structure of
fast slow fast, because Vivaldi followed this pattern closely this became a prominent
template for the next three centuries of composers. Vivaldi s four seasons concerto
is arguably the most popular baroque concerto, written for solo violin and orchestra,
it is an example of programatic music, that is, music based upon a story or music that
tells a story. The four seasons is based upon a set of sonnets, no one knows exactly
who wrote them, but it is thought that Vivaldi himself may have written
Provisional Government Essay
Provisional Government
The Provisional Government had attempted to keep its power over Russian affairs
during the trouble that followed the abdication of the tsar in February 1917, and as
events would show, they were largely unsuccessful in doing so. This may have been
because of Kerensky s mistakes, the government s lack of political power, or its
failure to solve the problems of Russia s peasant majority. The Bolsheviks were quick
to take advantage of time of weakness, although whether or not they succeeded
because the Provisional Government failed needs to be assessed.
The primary weakness of the Provisional Government was that it was essentially
powerless. Primarily this was because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mensheviks and Socialist Revolutionaries had great political power, starting from
the Petrograd Soviet and reaching out to control in the soviets established in the other
Russian cities.
The Great War also made a large problem for the Provisional Government, especially
after it mistakenly decided that it would be best to continue fighting in the war. While
at first succeeding in a campaign against Austria, continued failures afterwards led
soldiers and sailors to mutiny. The failed campaigns demoralized the nation and
unwittingly increased support for the anti war Bolsheviks. By attempting to send
some units of the Petrograd garrison to the front, the government made situations
worse, eventually escalating to chaotic desertions of army garrisons. Paradoxically,
the Provisional Government had rallied the offensive in the war in order to create a
sense of civic patriotism that hopefully would end the conflict and bring peace to
Russia.
The Provisional Government failed to solve much of the issues that racked the
nation, especially the ever present problem of lack of food and the redistribution of
the land that the peasants wanted. In this way the Bolshevik party appealed to the
masses, using attractive slogans such as Peace, Bread and Land! and All Power to the
Soviets! Whether or not they would fulfil their promises meant little as
Negligent Tort
Negligence is a tort law and it falls within the civil law which means a civil wrong
has been committed (Tort and Negligence, 2012). The American civil justice system,

A company must always be ready to defend itself in all the possible issues that may

Even though businesses do not like to recall its products, but when there is a

Recalls are beneficial to everyone when expedited effectively. From the act of

due to consumers being afraid or refuse to purchase the product, and the stock
values could fall if the company is publicly traded. This can be very damaging for a
business and could ultimately force the company to go out of business (Seaquist,

Social Policy And The Access Of The Judiciary System
What is Social Policy and the link to the Judiciary system
Social policy aims to improve human welfare and to meet human needs. Important
areas of social policy are wellbeing and welfare, unemployment insurance, pensions,
the NHS, social housing, family policy, social care, child protection, crime and
criminal justice and labour issues. It was said problems of children who were
deprived or abused have been connected closely with issues concerning young
offenders (Spicker.uk, 2015).This statement involves various roles from
professionals in the judiciary system. Under the Children s Act 1998 the local

if a young person is arrested. The youth offending team work closely with the

Tobacco Products Should Be Banned
Tobacco products have been used for chewing and smoking in the North American
continent for over a thousand years. Tobacco products have been a part of United
Stated history since its colonization. However, although tobacco products have been
used for centuries there have been studies done in more recent years that have linked
tobaccoproducts to widespread health problems. This has caused controversy in the
world today on whether or not tobacco products should be banned in this country.
There are many people in favor of keeping tobacco products in production due to
monetary concerns. Conversely, there are many people very concerned with the
health problems associated with tobacco products. Therefore, one must interpret for
themselves if the production, sale, and use of tobacco products is something that is
harmful to society and should be banned for its betterment, or something that is
helpful to society and not worth getting rid of.
Tobacco is a leafy plant that is cultivated, crushed, and made into the tobacco
products that thousands of people use today. There are several different types of
tobacco products in production. There are two categories that tobacco products can
be grouped into, smoked tobacco and smokeless tobacco. Smoked tobacco can be
smoked using various methods. Some methods include smoking with bidis,
cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos, and kreteks which all use tobacco that is rolled into a

guts you d buy every paper in town and burn them outside that big white house
where Lacey took him home and fucked him. Then Lacey shows up on the Hill
with an engagement ring and gives you a sad smile as if you shared something. If
you were one of the girls who gets in fights on the Hill, you d fight Lacey. But you

The Ministry Of Jesus Christ
C. Prescriptive Processes
In this section, I will identify new mental models that will assist in prescribing
relevant perspectives, practices, and ideas toward Engaging with spiritual seekers as
an Affirmative Topic.
First of all, any missional mental model should be derived from missio Dei itself,
which is the mission of God to bring about redemption of the world (Sunquist 2013,
7). When we carry this mission out in suffering for God s eternal glory, we need to
imagine how in the future his goodness, his beauty, and his harmony will cover the
entire creation. I think it s necessary for us to have this vision of his glory and be
aware that whatever we do is not our own ministry. The idea of us joining the
ministry of Jesus Christ is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it is vitally crucial for the church leadership to clearly articulate its
missional vision, which is to be embraced by the rest of the church s community. The
process of spiritual transformation starts from the invitation and continues through
engagement and discipleship. This transformational process embodies the missional
vision and the language for right now and here . Surely, the church s vision ought to
be aligned with the missional attributes of the gospel itself, which are the good news
is for everyone and belonging before believing . Our witness should take place amidst
relationship and listening. One principle that I consider to be exceptionally useful in
my community is St. Patrick s idea of Celtic Evangelism: establish community,
engage in conversation, and invite commitment (2009, 101).
As I mentioned previously, my missional community strives to be outward and
forward focused. If there is one doctrine that is to be carried outward by the church,
it is the doctrine of grace. It is impossible to have a meaningful spiritual
conversation with people outside of the church without fully understanding the
universal and inclusive nature of God s grace, which has been given to all people. I
am deeply convinced that grace, if anything, is what we as Christians owe to the
world, including atheists, agnostics, and people of other faiths. Grace is not just a
gift given to

Describe how the second industrial revolution of the late nineteenth century differed
from the first industrial revolution of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century.
This paper intends to compare the first industrial revolution of the 17th and 18th
centuries and the second industrial revolution of the mid 18th and 19th centuries. It
will highlight the transformation from the first revolution to the second revolution,
focusing on the presence of giant firms and role of science and technology in
economic activities. Additionally, it will introduce the two worldly philosophers Karl
Marx and Adam Smith on these issues.
The industrial revolution of 17th and 18th centuries saw the transformation of Britain

Not only did the introduction of petrol engines made transportation more faster, it
also helped with the development of the aircraft engine which meant that
transportation of good was efficient. The medical science developed rapidly in
1850s various vaccines were discovered and x ray facilities were made available to
doctors which created a more efficient way of diagnosing illness. For instance, the
1919 influenza epidermis saw the development of anti flu vaccines which made a
remarkable milestone in the development of drugs. Prior to this discoverer it was
common knowledge for people to blame certain aliment and natural occurrences as a
punishment on God for sins committed e.g. 1755 Lisbon earthquake in Portugal.
(Auerbach 2013)
The remarkable element of changes in industrial revolution was the sharp increase in
output of the newly technologically advanced industries. In 1701, the importation of
raw cotton for spinning weight 1 million, however, a drastic increase by 1781 was
5million. Likewise textile technology by 1784 it was over 11million pound,
nonetheless a massive increase by 1799 to 43million. (Hammond and Hammond
1937, p 162).
The first industrial revolution emerged with small scale of industry which was
managed mainly by the owners. Consequently, Workers and owners had good
relationships, but productivity was low. However, the second revolution emerged
with big
Satirical Satire Satirical Writing
Satirical writing Yus! Here comes the biggest trolley full of all the food groups, all
the cleaning products, all of the best toys for your endless amounts of cats and
dogs, and a tiny little old lady struggling to push this big load through the check out
where she finally starts loading her groceries on the converbelt in the most
inconvenient order possible, to make my job 10 times harder! hi there, how are you I
say with complete despair as I look at the amount of work I have to do. but I get no
answer, great she s deaf too! I think to myself. As I start trying to order this enormous
amount of groceries into an acceptable order for my packer, we give each other the
most despicable glance as if we are saying sorry to each other for what is about to
come. As I start scanning and eventually get to all the colds and frozen the little old
lady who is still painfully loading the groceries onto the converbelt says I want
wrapping on all the colds please WHAT! um excuse me but do I look like Santa! If
you want wrapping why don t you wrap YOUR groceries up yourself! of course, I
can do that for you I say in my most pretend happy voice that I can. Man, I should get
an Oscar for my acting! I now have black ink on my hands from all the newspaper
and sticky chicken juice on my fingers but all is good because I have finally finished
with this customer. do you have a club card? I ask as part of my routine dialogue oh
yes I do! oh, here we go, now I have to wait another 5

Heroism Definition Essay.pdf

  • 1. Heroism Definition Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of heroism is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between personal interpretation and a comprehensive exploration of diverse perspectives. The difficulty lies not only in defining heroism but also in navigating the myriad of cultural, historical, and individual contexts that shape this complex concept. One must grapple with the inherent subjectivity of heroism, acknowledging that what constitutes a hero varies across cultures and epochs. The writer faces the challenge of delving into the nuances of heroism – from the epic tales of legendary figures to the unsung heroes in everyday life. Striking a balance between providing a broad understanding of heroism and delving into the intricacies of its manifestation in different scenarios requires finesse. Moreover, the essayist must navigate the ethical dimensions surrounding heroism. Questions about the motives and actions of individuals labeled as heroes, as well as the potential for heroism to be exploited or misinterpreted, add layers of complexity. Balancing admiration with critical analysis is essential to present a nuanced and thought-provoking perspective. Research plays a crucial role in overcoming the hurdles of this topic. A thorough examination of historical events, literary works, and contemporary examples is necessary to construct a well- informed argument. Integrating diverse sources and weaving them into a coherent narrative poses another layer of difficulty, demanding not only analytical skills but also the ability to synthesize information effectively. In conclusion, writing an essay on heroism is a formidable task that requires a writer to navigate through the complexities of definition, cultural variations, ethical considerations, and a vast body of literature. It is an intellectual journey that demands both analytical prowess and creative insight to provide a comprehensive and engaging exploration of the multifaceted nature of heroism. If you find yourself grappling with similar challenges or require assistance in crafting essays on diverse topics, consider exploring the services offered by HelpWriting.net. • 2. Conflict In The Workplace Case Study A study obtained from the Journal of Organizational Behavior emphasizes main topic points that workplace conflict can generate team effectiveness and result in positive outcomes regarding goal setting. The data used within this study was collected from China. The collection of this data within this location of the world can have a little bias impact due to the nature that the cultural values in the East are different than those cultural values of the West. This viewpoint will be briefly touched upon further into the analysis of this article. To begin with, the synopsis of this article is based around the knowledge of organizational behaviors related to conflict in the workplace. The research provided in the article was conducted among... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those questionnaires were the final measurements of the study. Moreover, the results of the study supported their argument that conflict can contribute to effective teamwork. The article conveys that task conflicts and relational conflicts can have a positive or negative effect on the organization depending how the approach is handled. According to Edwin Locke s Handbook of Principles of Organizational Behavior, relationship conflicts are based on personality clashes and can be detrimental to team morale and the team performance (Weingart Jehn, 2009, p. 327). Task conflicts can be beneficial to any organization, only if managed when collaboration between two or more individuals share values and work together towards a common goal. The findings of this study show that facing the conflict at hand improved the worker s attitudes. The findings also suggested that team members who openly approach conflict will improve their performance. According to the article, avoiding conflict does not mean conflict disappears; eventually, avoiding types of conflict will result in competition among members of the team (Tjosyold, Chun, Ding, Hu, 2003). Competition will disrupt the work environment and may not result in positive outcome for the team or the organization. According to research, competitive interaction will allow members of a team to outdo one another. This could result in negative consequences such as the team members will not utilize each
  • 3. John P Kennedy Rose Fitzgerald and John P. Kennedy met as teenagers while their families vacationed together at Old Orchard Beach. By October 14th, 1914, the two were happily married and ready to move into their first home as newlyweds. They first lived in a building on Beals street that stood three stories tall with a grey finish.Within the next eighteen years, the couple would have their nine children and Rose would inherit the well deserved name as a model parent by friends and neighbors. John P. Kennedy began his life in their first home with a salary of around $10,000 but left the Brookline residence as a millionaire. Kennedy s Grandfather, Francis Fitzgerald, began his political career as a city councilman, progressed to a congressman, and was elected as mayor in 1906. • 4. Theme Of Bravery In IM Not Scared The film Life is Beautiful directed by Roberto Benigni and NiccolГІ Ammaniti s film I m not Scared explore the theme of bravery of their protagonists in their comparatively dissimilar settings. The 1997 Italian film Life is Beautiful follows the life of a charming man who uses his humor to win over the woman of his dreams and bravely save his family from the tragedy in Italy during the Second World War. Also set in the late 1970s in rural southern Italy, the film I m not Scared encompasses imprisonment and the developing friendship of Michele and Filippo who is kidnapped for ransom. Filippo is chained up and hungry when Michelle discovers him in a pit near an abandoned house and he helps the boy out. Bravery is prominently explored in both texts through dialogue, colour, and setting. Benigni and Ammaniti present bravery through the dialogue presented by the protagonists Guido and Michele. The dialogue that Guido speaks reveals plenty about his personality and nature and gives the audience a firm understanding of his character. The beginning of the film presents a lot of humor and the audience is introduced to a fairytale like story. Guido constantly uses his wit and comedic nature to impress his lover Dora, and often on their encounters he enthusiastically exclaims Buongiorno Princess! By referring to Dora as a princess illustrates that Guido believes she is perfect and seeing as he repeatedly says this phrase also conveys his ability to appear when least expected. Despite the transition in the film to a completely different setting and situation, dialogue plays a key role in communicating to the audience Guido s ability to lift the hopes and provide ongoing love and sacrifice for those around him. When Guido and son Joshua are separated from Dora at the concentration camp they shout Buongiorno Princess! into the microphone. A reaction shot is then used to show Dora s familiarity with these words and her understanding that her husband and son are alive. The use of this common greeting is effective in this film because it conveys that despite the sudden change of lifestyle for Guido and his family, Guido s personality ensures his humor and devotion are expressed until the very end of the film which shows

I chose this book without reading the description and mainly based my selection on the great reviews for this book online as well as the fact that the author, Tracy Kidder, had won a Pulitzer Prize in the past. Ultimately, this book turned out to be as remarkable as the reviews stated it was. 2. Paul Farmer had a very unusual upbringing in Massachusetts, Alabama, and Florida. What specific elements from his childhood and family life prepared Farmer for his current life? How has your upbringing influenced your own choices and goals in life? As Kidder discusses Dr. Farmer s childhood, it is easy to see how his nomadic and modest lifestyle early on helped him adjust to living the life he led in Haiti and around the globe. As a child, Dr. Farmer not only dealt with moving from state to state, but also having to adjust to different living conditions ranging from living in a tent to living on bus with his parents and 5 other siblings. Kidder also focuses in on the work ethic his parents exemplified to him and his five other siblings. They were all taught to appreciate the little they had and to never be embarrassed for the lack of material objects they did not (Kidder). Most importantly, his family encouraged Farmer s desire to learn. For example, when he was just a child, Farmer started a herpetology club where his family stepped in as members

Throughout the year, several students in the program dropped out, and by the end of the school year, only ten students were being served. The ineffectiveness of the program, in my opinion, was due to a weak initiation phase before the program was implemented. A small committee was formed to write a grant from the program, set the program goals. There were no teachers, teacher leaders, or counselors on the committee and no input from community members or parents were considered. The curriculum for the program centered only on addressing benchmark scores of basic and below basic students and did not meet any other needs or the students. As a counselor, I heard complaints from parents throughout the year that their children would benefit more from having homework help and extended instruction. Teachers felt as if they were already using instruction time during the regular school day to prepare students for the last year s PARCC and now the ACT Aspire exams. It is evident the administration made a few key errors in the initiation phase that led to the unsuccessful nature of the program. First, they did not gain buy in from stakeholders such as teachers, students, and parents (AR1.6, AR2.1, AR3.7, AR4.3, AR5.4, AR7.1, AR7.2, AR8.1 and AR8.2). They did not consider the needs of the whole child and, instead, only focused on bringing up state test scores of certain individuals.

To my understanding, four out of ten males feel they lack the qualities and abilities that partners look for in a man, with 61% of all respondents agreeing that men are stereotyped in the media. Wickham is corrupting his masculinity into nothing but adulterous ways. Through a stroke of luck, Wickham is forced to marry Lydia. Wickham has no trouble securing Lydia s consent for marriage, proving to possess desirable qualities of a man. This emphasises that Wickham is nonetheless very masculine, proved by his success with courting women; particularly, Lydia. Both sisters have received attention and been charmed the dashing Wickham but only Elizabeth s less likable, less relatable little sister falls prey to him. Although Wickham s drawbacks are not evident to Lydia, she falls head over heels by his

While at first succeeding in a campaign against Austria, continued failures afterwards led soldiers and sailors to mutiny. The failed campaigns demoralized the nation and unwittingly increased support for the anti war Bolsheviks. By attempting to send some units of the Petrograd garrison to the front, the government made situations worse, eventually escalating to chaotic desertions of army garrisons. Paradoxically, the Provisional Government had rallied the offensive in the war in order to create a sense of civic patriotism that hopefully would end the conflict and bring peace to Russia. The Provisional Government failed to solve much of the issues that racked the nation, especially the ever present problem of lack of food and the redistribution of the land that the peasants wanted.
