The objective of this lab was to observe how surface conditions affected Temperature,
moisture, and wind.
II.Methods:
The materials that were used to complete this lab was an instruction packet, probe
thermometer, IR gun, the Kestrel weather instrument, and a finger.
III.Results:
For this lab my classmates and I all had to go to different locations to collect the data
that was needed. Some of us were out in the sun, others were in the shade so we all
got different answers on our sheet. For my location I was out in front of the Center
for Environmental and Life Sciences (CELS). At that location we looked at three sub
location for our data, there were the grass, mulch, and rocks. The sites had many
characteristics but the three that my group choose to focus on was the location had
direct sun light that happened to be shining from the right side. The wind was blowing
at CELS but it felt like it had a tunnel breeze. The last thing that we said was it had
a very diverse landscape. We also gave characteristics for the three sub locations
that we observed. For number one we looked at the grass and it was yellow with
wet soil. Number two was the mulch and it was black, brown, and dry. Number three
was the rocks and they were large, smooth, and greyish. The characteristics of the

I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along
the way I pushed through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community
development. Many people can benefit by taking this class and learning more about
the health issues within a community. The information can also be carried on and
utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of my learning
experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more
educational to me. The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a
result I would have retained and understood more in this area. Having an
experience professional in the career already attending the class and sharing would
have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of topics
were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It

John Kotter, a leading advocate and educator in change initiatives, expresses two
essential characteristics that must be present in any change initiative. First, any

Jerry. For many years, Jerry and his mother visited this beach, getting to know

the older boys played. He was no longer interested in the children his age on the

identifying and managing stress after a myocardial infarction and how these
differences affect one s health and quality of life outcome.
Focus and Aim of the Review The leading cause of morbidity and mortality among
men and women is Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) which includes myocardial
infarction. Studies suggest that women are more likely than men to develop cardiac
distress symptoms and complications following a cardiac incident (Hallman, 2001).
Furthermore, women are generally older when they have a myocardial infarction and
have specific attitudes towards recovery. This suggests that when accommodating for
a transformed health state in their daily living, women and men may use different
coping strategies to facilitate their rehabilitation (Sutherland Jensen, 2000). Prior
literature has examined stressors and stress management behaviours in both men and
women after a myocardial infarction but there is a general paucity of data comparing

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill, often simply called the BP spill, released an
estimated 168 million gallons of crude oil and natural gas into the Gulf of Mexico
(EPA), which caused near irreparable harm to the ecosystems and organisms
around it. In addition, the entire incident could have been prevented had basic
safety measures been taken during the rig s construction. Science was applied to
the creation of the rig and the extraction of the oil from the seafloor in many ways,
including many alleged safety measures to prevent an ecological disaster such as
the one that occurred. First, some background on oil rigs. An oil rig is a buoyant
platform connected to the ocean floor by many anchors, and a drill pipe, a long
shaft within a shaft that rotates, drilling down through the bedrock layer to extract
crude oil and natural gases (Popular Mechanics). An additional mechanism to the
rig is the blow out preventer, or BOP, (pictured above) directly above the ocean
floor. This machinery is used to prevent any uncontrolled surges of oil from
reaching the surface and becoming a potential hazard (Chemical Safety Board).
The blow out preventer is made of 3 parts: annular preventers, pipe rams, and blind
shear rams. Pipe rams are large rubber rings that can close around the drill shaft to

II. METHODOLOGY
The methodology that we have used in this study is as follows.During the course,
students are evaluated by means of a multiple choice testing that is an effective
assessment technique. Before the final exam date, all students are requested to self
grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they think they should get for the course.
Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of each student as the final
mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by the
instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s
decision of accepting or declining the score proposed by students.
We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1).

The initial approach uses three numerical variables: the scoreobtained by students in
the course s activities, the proposed scores by students and the difference between
these two previous scores.
Then, it applies traditional classification algorithms for predicting the instructor s

The new approach uses the three previous variables as well as a self evaluation

The speech I attended was a panel of women who had all previously been to prison.
This panel was particularly interesting because these women were the inspiration
for the television series Orange is the New Black. The Netflix original series is based
on Piper Kerman s book of the same name. The book was based on her experience in
the womens prisonDanbury, which is located in Connecticut. Piper wrote about her
personal story and the stories of many of the women she interacted with. Several
of these very women came to Suffolk University to give a talk on their own
personal experience in the prison system and their thoughts on the television series.
There were four women who spoke to us, two of whom were in prison with Piper,
one who attended the same prison at a different time, and one women who was a
professor at Suffolk University and had never been to prison. Each womanspoke
about her own personal experience with the prison system and they all spoke about
the issues surrounding the United States legal system. They also all spoke about the

When first prompted with the assignment to volunteer 20 hours of my time
somewhere off the University of Minnesota s campus, I was quite stressed out
because of the time commitment. However, as I was reading through the list of

A study done by Hansen, Stevens and Coast found that twenty one participants aged
20 26 taking part noted increases in Vigour and Total Mood and a decrease in
Confusion. To account for any gender differential 14 females and 7 males took part.
The participants did a total of four tests. The first test involved sitting for 30 minutes.
The second test involved a warmup on an exercise bike. The participants cycled for
10 minutes and raise their heart rate (HR) to 60% of their VO2 max (maximum
oxygen consumption). Test 3 involved cycling for 20 minutes while raising their
HR to 60% VO2max. Test 4 lasted for 30 minutes while the participants again
raised their HR to 60% VO2max. Following each test the participants had a 10
minute cool down cycle. Each participant filled a Physical Activity Readiness
Questionnaire (PAR Q) on the Friday before the test. Before exercising a Profile of
Mood State (POMS) was taken and than succeeding the 10 minute cool down the
POMS was taken again to record any change in mood state. Research conducted by
Dyer and Crouch (1988) found that mood is most positive 15 20 minutes after

hardship, and redemption. The two friends, Amir and Hassan used to visit a
pomegranatetree together where they would read stories and eat the fruitthe tree bore.
In The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseiniuses the symbolism of the pomegranate tree to

The assessment practices that I feel are most important in my school is the usage of
Common Core. It requires students to analyze, synthesize, apply and evaluate
information that is gained from reading (Afflerbach, 2015). I have seen firsthand the
positive effects of using Common Core especially in the ELA discipline. It allows
for higher order thinking skills versus the lower level questioning that the students
have been exposed to for so long.
Some assessment practices that I feel are in need of more emphasis in my school is
the understanding that reading is an active and complex process that understands
written text (Afflerbach, 2015). Also, seeing that there is a great need for using
formative assessments set off a red flag for me. At my school, we tend to focus on
beginning with the end in mind and focus more on summative assessments instead of

assessment focus more on determining where the student is and what they need next

People today are even going all out and having gender revealing parties. Which in
my opinion find funny that they are not using the term correctly when it should be
a sex revealing party. Having a gender revealing party then consist of either having
pink for girl and blue for boy and the big surprise of it being a boy or girl. When the
sex is then revealed people go crazy in buying either boy or girl clothes. With girl
clothes it has to be pink and frilly so people can know that their baby is a girl. If it
