This document discusses the importance of integrating qualitative and quantitative methods as well as social science and nutrition data when designing studies on linking gender, agriculture, and nutrition. It recommends: 1) Using mixed qualitative and quantitative methods with researchers working together iteratively to define questions, analyze results, and have qualitative work inform quantitative work. 2) Collecting both social determinant data (like gender and resources) and nutrition outcome data on the same individuals to understand how social norms influence nutrition. 3) Having a "theory of behavior" that links behaviors to nutrition outcomes to guide research questions and analysis.
