This document discusses cloud computing and proposes a scheme for proof of data integrity in the cloud. It begins by defining cloud computing and describing the infrastructure needed to run applications over the internet. It then discusses security issues with cloud storage, where users do not have control over remotely stored data. The proposed scheme generates encrypted metadata for files and allows users to verify integrity by challenging the data center to provide specific bits, proving the file was not illegally modified. The scheme is best suited for encrypted static files stored in the cloud.
At a time when the risks and costs associated with privacy are on the rise, differential privacy offers a solution. Differential privacy is mathematical definition for the privacy loss that results to individuals when their private information is used to create an AI product. It can be used to build customer trust, making those customers more likely to share their data with you. This slideshare will help you get a concise explanation of what differential privacy is, how it works, and how you can use it to help your company improve your machine learning models and overcome the cold-start problem.
This presentation, by big data guru Bernard Marr, outlines in simple terms what Big Data is and how it is used today. It covers the 5 V's of Big Data as well as a number of high value use cases.

Slides present data and information system. In any information system security and integrity is the prime concern. How we can make sure stored data is more secure and generated information should be accurate, reliable and consistent.
The growth of embedded systems connecting to the Internet or "Internet of Things" (IoT) increases year by year. Thus, the IoT ecosystems become new targets of the attackers. This presentation will talk about the basic principle of information security, why we need to secure IoT ecosystems, and also the vulnerabilities and solutions from OWASP.
A Zero Trust approach should extend throughout the entire digital estate and serve as an integrated security philosophy and end to end strategy.
Identities. Identities whether they represent people, services, or IOT devices define the Zero Trust control plane. When an identity attempts to access a resource, we need to verify that identity with strong authentication, ensure access is compliant and typical for that identity, and follows least privilege access principles.
Devices. Once an identity has been granted access to a resource, data can flow to a variety of different devices From IoT devices to smartphones, BYOD to partner managed devices, and on premises workloads to cloud hosted servers. This diversity creates a massive attack surface area, requiring we monitor and enforce device health and compliance for secure access.
Applications. Applications and APIs provide the interface by which data is consumed. They may be legacy on premises, lift and shifted to cloud workloads, or modern SaaS applications. Controls and technologies should be applied to discover Shadow IT, ensure appropriate in-app permissions, gate access based on real-time analytics, monitor for abnormal behavior, control of user actions, and validate secure configuration options.
Data. Ultimately, security teams are focused on protecting data. Where possible, data should remain safe even if it leaves the devices, apps, infrastructure, and networks the organization controls. Data should be classified, labeled, and encrypted, and access restricted based on those attributes.
Infrastructure. Infrastructure (whether on premises servers, cloud based VMs, containers, or micro services) represents a critical threat vector. Assess for version, configuration, and JIT access to harden defense, use telemetry to detect attacks and anomalies, and automatically block and flag risky behavior and take protective actions.
Networks. All data is ultimately accessed over network infrastructure. Networking controls can provide critical “in pipe” controls to enhance visibility and help prevent attackers from moving laterally across the network. Networks should be segmented (including deeper in network micro segmentation) and real time threat protection, end to end encryption, monitoring, and analytics should be employed.
Each of these six foundational elements serves as a source of the signal, a control plane for enforcement, and a critical resource to defend. You should appropriately spread your investments across each of these elements for maximum protection.

A Hybrid Cloud Approach for Secure Authorized DeduplicationSWAMI06
Data deduplication is one of important data compression techniques for eliminating duplicate copies of repeating data,
and has been widely used in cloud storage to reduce the amount of storage space and save bandwidth. To protect the confidentiality
of sensitive data while supporting deduplication, the convergent encryption technique has been proposed to encrypt the data before
outsourcing. To better protect data security, this paper makes the first attempt to formally address the problem of authorized data
deduplication. Different from traditional deduplication systems, the differential privileges of users are further considered in duplicate
check besides the data itself. We also present several new deduplication constructions supporting authorized duplicate check in a hybrid
cloud architecture. Security analysis demonstrates that our scheme is secure in terms of the definitions specified in the proposed
security model. As a proof of concept, we implement a prototype of our proposed authorized duplicate check scheme and conduct
testbed experiments using our prototype. We show that our proposed authorized duplicate check scheme incurs minimal overhead
compared to normal operations.

Just as we became familiar with Cloud computing and the dominant role of Open Source, a new compute model has emerged, an extension of the Cloud to the Edge of the network, some call it Fog computing, others the Internet of Things or IoT. Open Source will also play a dominant role in this, as it does in the Cloud, but what exactly is it, and what does it mean in IoT. How is the model changing as the new generation of devices has stretched what we previously knew as Cloud compute. And most importantly, why, what, and how the new IoT-specific Service Provider (IsSP?) model emerges and disrupts its aging predecessor. This is the tidal wave of opportunity we see, a generation after the last one that took place in the mid 90's. Get ready!

Improving Data Storage Security in Cloud using HadoopIJERA Editor
The rising abuse of information stored on large data centres in cloud emphasizes the need to safe guard the data. Despite adopting strict authentication policies for cloud users data while transferred over to secure channel when reaches data centres is vulnerable to numerous attacks .The most widely adoptable methodology is safeguarding the cloud data is through encryption algorithm. Encryption of large data deployed in cloud is actually a time consuming process. For the secure transmission of information AES encryption has been used which provides most secure way to transfer the sensitive information from sender to the intended receiver. The main purpose of using this technique is to make sensitive information unreadable to all other except the receiver. The data thus compressed enables utilization of storage space in cloud environment. It has been augmented with Hadoop‟s map-reduce paradigm which works in a parallel mode. The experimental results clearly reflect the effectiveness of the methodology to improve the security of data in cloud environment.

Cloud computing is an internet-based computing technology, where shared re-sources
such as software, platform, storage and information are provided to customers on demand.
Cloud computing is a computing platform for sharing resources that include infrastructures,
software, applications, and business processes. The exact definition of cloud computing is A
large-scale distributed computing paradigm that is driven by economies of scale, in which a
pool of abstracted, virtualized, dynamically scalable, managed computing power, storage,

Privacy preserving public auditing for secured cloud storagedbpublications
As the cloud computing technology develops during the last decade, outsourcing data to cloud service for storage becomes an attractive trend, which benefits in sparing efforts on heavy data maintenance and management. Nevertheless, since the outsourced cloud storage is not fully trustworthy, it raises security concerns on how to realize data deduplication in cloud while achieving integrity auditing. In this work, we study the problem of integrity auditing and secure deduplication on cloud data. Specifically, aiming at achieving both data integrity and deduplication in cloud, we propose two secure systems, namely SecCloud and SecCloud+. SecCloud introduces an auditing entity with a maintenance of a MapReduce cloud, which helps clients generate data tags before uploading as well as audit the integrity of data having been stored in cloud. Compared with previous work, the computation by user in SecCloud is greatly reduced during the file uploading and auditing phases. SecCloud+ is designed motivated by the fact that customers always want to encrypt their data before uploading, and enables integrity auditing and secure deduplication on encrypted data.
Slides: Accelerating Queries on Cloud Data LakesDATAVERSITY
Using “zero-copy” hybrid bursting on remote data to solve data lake analytics capacity and performance problems.
Data scientists want answers on demand. But in today’s enterprise architectures, the reality is that most data remains on-prem, despite the promise of cloud-based analytics. Moving all that data to the cloud has typically not been possible for many reasons including cost, latency, and technical difficulty. So, what if there was a technology that would connect these on-prem environments to any major cloud platform, enabling high-powered computing without the need to move massive amounts of data?
Join us for this webinar where Alex Ma of Alluxio, an open-source data orchestration platform, will discuss how a data orchestration approach offers a solution for connecting traditional on-prem data centers and cloud data lakes with other clouds and data centers. With Alluxio’s “zero-copy” burst solution, companies can bridge remote data centers and data lakes with computing frameworks in other locations, enabling them to offload, compute, and leverage the flexibility, scalability, and power of the cloud for their remote data.

A Survey Paper On Data Confidentiatity And Security in Cloud Computing Using ...IJSRD
Now days rapidly increased use of cloud computing in the many organization and IT industries and provides latest software solution with minimum cost. So the cloud computing give us number of benefits with minimum cost and of data accessibility through Internet. The ensuring security risks of the cloud computing is the main factor in the cloud computing environment, The evolving essence is Cloud computing, that is beneficial in cost effective parts, such as capability inflexible computing, decreasing the time period to market and insufficient computing power. By using the complete ability of cloud computing, data are transmitted, processed and stored on the outside cloud service providers. The fact is that, the owner of the data is feeling extremely unconfident to locate their data outer to their own control. Security and Confidentiality of data stored in the cloud are key setbacks in the area of Cloud Computing. Security and Confidentiality are the key issues for cloud storage. This paper proposes a KIST encryption algorithm to concentrate on the security and Confidentiality issues in cloud storage and also compressed cipher text data in order to protect the data stored in the cloud.
[Mustafa Toroman, Saša Kranjac] More and more services we use every day are moving to cloud. This creates many challenges, especially if we look at things from security point of view. Taking services out of our datacenter, opens our data and services to new kind of threats but fortunately new tools are available to protect us. See from both perspectives how attackers can try to exploit our journey to cloud and how can we detect threats and stop attacks before they occur. We will show examples how Red Team attacks our Cloud and how Blue Team can detect and stop Red Team.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

that run on a distributed network
using virtualized resources and accessed
by common internet protocols and
network standards
Cloud Computing is a paradigm in
which information is permanently
stored in servers on the internet and
can be accessed from anywhere
7. Provides all the infrastructure needed to run
applications over the internet
Increased storage
Reduced cost
Flexibility
Increased mobility
Highly automated
8. -> Sometimes referred to as "on-demand software" is a
software delivery model in which software and its
associated data are hosted centrally and are typically
accessed by users
9. • ….enables you to create web
applications quickly, without the
• cost and complexity of buying and
managing the underlying software
or hardware…
No Frequent updates
Inexpensive
12. Cloud storage moves the user’s data to large data
centers, which are remotely located, on which the user
does not have any control
However there are lot of security
issues which need to be considered
Data integrity
Authentication
Small devices like PDA’s, mobiles, and laptops are
associated with limited battery power and computation
speed
13. We provide a scheme which gives a proof of data
integrity in the cloud through which the user can
verify the correctness of his data, this proof can be
termed as Proof of Retrievability (POR)
This enables individual to
entertain
Economic advantages
Zero Maintenance
Note:
-> Our scheme just checks the integrity (if the data is
illegally modified) only of static data…
14. This proof can be agreed
upon by both the cloud and
the customer and can be
incorporated in SLA.
SLA is part of service
contract where the level of
services being offered is
formally defined.
15. Key generator:
A random key is generated
Encryption:
A metadata of the file is
generated and is encrypted using any suitable algorithm
Archive:
It is the data center where the data is outsourced
Challenge:
Verification of data integrity by the user…
Response:
Proof of data integrity by data center
16. A simplest Proof of Retrievability can be made
using hash key function

17. • Computing hash value for moderately large file
might be overhead for some device like Mobiles,
PDA’s and Laptops
• For each verification request from
client the archive has to process
the entire file
• High resource cost and lot of ambiguity as a result
of maintaining secret key and number of hash
keys….
18. Proposed a theory to proof the retrievability for
large files using sentinels…. According to them

encrypted for small devices
This scheme is best suited for encrypted files
