Social Actors And Organizations As One Working Unit
Blumer lastly notes that although many methodologies observe large social actors and organizations as
one working unit, this does not allow the understanding of how the organization functions.
Researchers should look at the individuals within the organization to see how those individuals fit
together and how they interact. The interactions of the people within the organization paint a picture
of how the organization functions and makes its decisions. Blumer sums up his essay perfectly by
saying respect the empirical world and organize a methodological stance to reflect that respect
(Blumer 1986, p. 60). Criticisms of Symbolic Interactionism As with any theory there are critics of
symbolic interactionism. One weakness of symbolic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His reasoning behind why he believes this is a bit confusing and does not fully explain why this data is
unreliable. He does explain that data created from a recreated world is not useable which is
understandable because it is not being taken from the real world, but he does not fully explain why
quantitative data taken from the real world is inherently wrong. He dismisses any validity it may hold.
This is also confusing for the reader because he is very vocal about testability. He sees testability as
important but throws out research types with clear testability. Many believe that Blumer s symbolic
interactionism lacks hard evidence and testability. A person interprets a symbol and acts how they
choose to act. This lacks the ability to be tested incorrect. Because this theory allows for the actor to
respond in any way they want, then the theory can never be proven wrong meaning there is no
testability (Melzer, Petros, and Reynolds 1975). Skidmore (1975) points out that Blumer s theory does
not account for why an actor will make the same choice in a given situation. This paper allows for the
assumption that every time an actor faces a situation they consciously interpret it and then make a
choice on how to respond. This does not account for the unconscious acts and feelings that go into an
action. Some actions are made without a full understanding of why

Recording The Oratorio Song Of The Forests
Prior to composing the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 in 1948, Shostakovich composed the film
music Michurin that was about the life of horticulturist Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin (1855 1935).
The film music encouraged Shostakovich to compose another work based on the same rural theme.
Below is his statement during the aired interview in 1955 that confirms it:
My work in cinematography has proven beneficial for my activity as a composer. Indeed, a number of
my compositions are a direct outcome of my work in the cinema. For instance, my work on the film
Michurin has prompted me to compose my oratorio the Song of the Forests.
In fact, the lines in song no. 5 Комсомольцы выходят вперед (Young Communists go forward!) of
the oratorio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another recycled material is the melody that occurs in the movie between 31 45 and 32 04 on the
scene where Michurin and the dignitaries were raising their glasses in a toast to Michurin s much
expected success in developing a new horticultural technique for the benefit of Russian people. The
piano plays the melody as a background music in the scene. Part of the melody becomes an important
recurrent motive that gives a sense of unity to the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 (fig. 2). The
unavailability of the film music score forces the author to assume that the melody is written in the key
of C major as seen in fig. 2 below.
Both the short and the longer versions of the melody, which appear previously in film music Michurin
(fig. 2), appear in all songs of the oratorio and give a sense of unity. Borrowing the terminology
mentioned by Pauline Fairclough, the short version will be called motive x. Therefore, the full length
version will be called melody x. Motive x starts on the first scale degree and ascends until the fifth
scale degree with a sixth scale degree as a diatonic upper neighbor pitch.According to Fairclough,
motive x connects songs number 1, 6, and 7, and this proves that the Song of the Forests was
composed very carefully. In addition to Fairclough s statement, motive x actually occurs in other
songs as well generating a coherence in the oratorio. Below is several examples of the utilization of
motive x in each song.
Melody x appears

Jew Vs Maccabees
Viewpoint of Maccabees I vs. Maccabees II as Insight to Emerging Judaism The major differences
between Maccabees I and Maccabees II are that they are told by different authors from different
regions at different times to different audiences. They both tell the same story of Jewish oppression,
uprisings and revolts in the 2nd century B,C. The major difference is that Maccabees II is greatly
influenced by the Greek culture and is meant for a Hellenistic Jew. In fact, Maccabees II is written in
Greek by a Hellenistic Jew, while Maccabees I was written in Hebrew by a Palestine Jew. A
comparison of the two books illustrates how the Jewish religion changed from the time of the writing
of the first book until the writing of the second. The idea that ... Show more content on

In Maccabees II a more dramatic and meaningful form of prayer is a common theme. Jews held up
hands; stretched out their hands and rose from prayer. [2 Macc 3:18 20; 2 Macc 10: 25 27; 2 Macc14:
34 36; 2 Macc15: 12]. Where as in Maccabees I movements associated with prayer are much more
subtle and not as dramatic. Verses, such as 1 Macc 3:44; 1 Macc 4:55 56; 1Macc 7:40, display this
common theme, but again, the references to prayer are more scarce than in the Second Maccabees.
This is due to the fact that the writer of the Second Maccabees is again trying to stress the importance
of divine worship and omnipotence. This idea was not seen as a threat to the writer in the First
Maccabees. The motif of prayer in these books is somewhat minor, but supports the idea that the
author is clearly writing to an audience that must pray together even though they are no longer in
Israel. Prayer is more to important to the author of Maccabees II as a way to ward off the threat of the
Jews losing their heritage. Prayer in the First Maccabees serves as an act of gratitude for their success
to the earlier persecution and admiration for the Law [1 Macc 3:48; 1 Macc 4:10; 1 Macc 4:36 59; 1
Macc12: 9 15; 1 Macc13: 51]. Again, the writer is not attempting to impose ideas against the
Hellenistic culture, but

Narra Tor Rhyme Scheme
Along with visual aspects, rhyme, and rhythm Love and a Question also has a specific form, language,
and ideas. The form of the poem in relation to the rhyme scheme is a simple 4 line which is an abcb
rhyme scheme repeated throughout the poem; Robert Frost does not stray away from the abcb rhyme
scheme once during Love and a Question. The rhetoric in this poem expresses the speaker as a
descriptive individual. The narrator describes the stranger asking for shelter with the eyes more than
the lips, and he road this stranger travelled upon as a weary road, such word choice implies the
narrator is a very eloquent and thoughtful (21). The narra tor sees the need in the stranger s eyes for
shelter and notes the tiring journey this stranger has been on thus far, this rhetoric also demonstrates
specific word choice of the narrator. The narra tor chose words like weary to express the long and
tiring journey the stranger has been on up till this point, the road he traveled to get to the bridegroom s
house was extensive and wearing (21). Another example of word choice by the narrator is the word
bore in the statement He bore a green white stick in his hand, the stranger was not just carrying this

The last statement reinforces the conflict between as selfishness and human compassion as the
narrator is still undecided and conflicted on whether to let the man in or just give him some aid and
send him off. This last sentence also displays the title of the poem in Love and a Question the
bridegroom has a love, who is his bride, and a question about whether he should spend the night solely
with her or let the needy stranger stay with them. By ending the poem this way, the bridegroom is still
left with an unsolved internal conflict, the same internal struggle that mani fested throughout the

DACA Informative Speech
In our English class we have been watching the Channel one news, we have been told to pick one
topic to write about. Have you ever wondered what DACA is and what it has to do with the United
States? Do you wonder why the government recently shut down? I m going to be writing about the
DACA program and the effects that is has/had on the United States Government. President Trump has
to sign a paper to agree with the DACA program and the democrats. The government has shut down
on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 and was reopened on Monday, January 22nd, 2018. (Collins) The
government was shutdown due to a bill called an, appropriations bill . The bill needed to be signed by
President Trump by midnight on January 19th, 2018. The congress failed to pass a bill that would keep
them operating, although the government was shut down not every government employee was sent

The government reopened on January 22nd, 2018 and is back up and running. The DACA program is
still being discussed and they have not come to a decision on the topic just yet. The DACA program is
used a protection for those that were brought to the United States as children. It is used as a shield to
protect the from being deported, the program also lasts for 2 years at a time. To be in the program you
have to be at least 16 so, if you were brought here before and you are not at the age of 16 you must go
back home. Families do not believe that is a fair agree but that is the price they have to pay. The
government being shut down was a big issue from people that work in the White House to those who
work in the national parks. People were going without pay and some even going without jobs. The
government being shut down was a big effect on many. Let s hope President Trump gets those papers

We Re Hot as Hell
We re Hot as Hell
Is global warming a moral dilemma? Is it the public policy problem from hell? In The Environmental
Issue from Hell, Bill McKibben uses many of such phrases en route to arguing for a new approach to
global warming. By discussing hell and morals, the reader s mind is already equating it with two
heavily debated issues. Therefore, we begin to question their existence and how we should deal with
the subjects. McKibben wisely chooses these disputes to represent his main concerns: the ways in
which consumerism affects the global ecosystem, and the impact of humans on the environment.
McKibben presents a solution on how to handle each of these environmental issues, utilizing both the
people and the government.
McKibben s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mckibben inaugurates his third paragraph suggesting that we make the environmental issues, the great
moral crisis of our time, and the equivalent of the civil rights movement of the 1960s. (747). He uses
this analogy to explain that in his opinion, we are strip mining the present and destroying all of whom
come after it. Thus, leading him to discuss exactly how humans materialistic ways have impacted the
earth. From Bangladesh living three months in thigh high deep water, to polar bears becoming 20%
scrawnier than they were a decade ago (748). The environmentalist writer goes on to discuss how to
deal with global warming since it is indeed creeping up on us.
Mckibben once again articulates his repetitive view that, it s a moral question, finally, if you think we
owe any debt to the future. (748). In many circumstances it is believed that if it had been done to us,
we would dislike the generation that did it, just as how we will one day be disliked. The solution given
in the essay on how to handle these environmental issues is to start a moral campaign. In other words,
... turn it into a political issue, just as bus boycotts began to make public the issue of race, forcing the
system to respond. (748). As a part of the overall populist causing these issues, Mckibben understands
that the hardest part about starting this moral campaign is identifying a villain to overcome. Briefly

The World of Technology Meets the World of Education Essay
Good bye blackboard, hello interactive white board! Get out of the way paper, pens, pencils, and
textbooks and make room for the netbook, laptop, iPod, iPhone and iPad; they are moving into the
classroom. Students are ready to use these new gadgets whether educators are ready or not. Therefore,
the world of education needs to embrace the world of technology and take off on the World Wide Web.
Technology is not going away. Our students of today must be technosavvy in order to function in their
adult lives of tomorrow.
The implementation of technology allows teachers to use differentiated instruction in order to meet the
needs of all the students in the classroom. The interactive white board is a great example of how all

Also, I believe with repeated use of the iPod, his fluency and silent reading speed will increase. When
he tested on the book he showed that this method was successful for him because he scored a 100 on
the Accelerated Reader assessment. If more teachers would implement using the iPod with reluctant
readers and allow them to experience some success then they maybe more inclined to branch out on
their own to become independent readers. Textbooks are only as up to date as the day they leave the
printer. Think of the millions of dollars that could be saved on textbooks if students were issued
laptops and textbooks were converted to ebooks. As ebooks, the text could be updated daily and
students could have access to up to date information at their fingertips at all times, instead of the
traditional textbooks that are now in schools which can be as old as 5 7 years old.
In order for the implementation of technology to be effective in our school, a great deal of planning
must take place. For core curriculum planning to successfully embrace technology, writers need to be
made aware to tech issues such as: If the computers are networked to file storage drives, printers, and
the Internet; If accounts/passwords need to be established; How scheduling of lab time and equipment
is handled; If support help is available; What type of software applications or websites are available or
accessible; What is the teachers level of technical

is injured it not only hurts the injured person, but also the organization. With steroids, it can increase

injuries could be prevented which helps the athletes to continue

Hmo Influence On Health Care
Running head: INFLUENCE OF HMO S
HMO s
University of Phoenix
Abstract
The term Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) was developed in 1970 as part of the Nixon
Administration to promote the growth of prepaid plans as a way to improve the nation s health system.
The Health Maintenance Organization has an appearance on the outside of being very appealing to
those with little money to spend on insurance because it has a very low premium cost, but the truth be
known that sometimes cheaper is not always better. In this paper I will discuss how HMO s have
influenced current healthcare systems.
Influence of HMO s

individual health insurance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a great thing and to be honest the fees were only 25 more dollars than what I am paying for a
HMO now. I became ill and was rushed to one of the best hospitals in the U.S. Tests were run and
because I had a PPO there were no questions as to who my primary care doctor was. There were no
questions as to what my insurance would pay for on the expensive tests. Now back home in the North
I currently have an HMO which as I stated is only a few dollars cheaper than my PPO. I recently
broke my back and was rushed to the local hospital because of the emergency situation. While in the
E.R. the doctors had to notify my primary doctor and get permission from the insurance company to
run tests and for me to even be allowed to stay in that hospitals E.R. My primary care doctor was over
an hour away in another state. I was cleared to go to another bigger hospital for emergency surgery but
it took a lot of time to get the clearance. I currently am suffering through bills because through an
HMO it is a courtesy for any hospital to call any insurance. If I still had PPO I would not have been
questioned as to cost and the hospital would have been paid because I could through a PPO go to any
hospital without permission. In summary, the time has come for Congress to make decisions regarding
appropriate health care and to understand that at times cheaper is not always better.

Compression clothing is apparel designed to press firmly...
Compression clothing is apparel designed to press firmly against an athlete s body to provide physical
support. The use of compression first appeared 60 years ago to provide relief for those suffering from
circulation disorders, and clothing to provide compression had been introduced following this. In
recent years, the clothing has grown rapidly in popularity among sports practitioners and enthusiasts.
The benefits that compression clothing provides include circulation improvements, enhanced muscle
recovery from injuries, improvements in oxygen use efficiency and distribution, and increases in
overall athletic performance.
1. Circulation: A 1987 study by the American Journal of Physical Medicine showed that athletes who
wore compression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theories for the causes of these two benefits include improved muscle function due to the
compression clothing holding the muscles in place. When muscles are not held into place, they
vibrate, which could lead to energy loss. It is also quite likely that circulation system and oxygen
usage improvements described previously contribute to increases in athletic endurance.
For all these reasons, athletes can stand to benefit from wearing compression clothing while taking
part in sports or exercising. Due to improvements in the way the body handles oxygen and blood
during aerobic activity from wearing this type of clothing, intensity of exercise can be increased and
endurance related benefits may also be experienced. Not only can compression clothing promote
recovery from injuries, compression clothing also commonly features thick padding that eliminates
excess sweat produced by the body and provides cushioning to shield athletes bodies from injury.
Because of this, wearing compression clothing is advisable not only for efficiency reasons, it just
might make you safer while you are out on the field as well.

on an individual s ability to function properly and perform normal day to day activities. These
impairments arise from either accidents, illnesses, genetic conditions or health conditions. Focusing
closely on disability in this essay, I will describe the story of a particular individual with a disability.

Alcoholism
Imagine you are at a family wedding reception where there is alcohol being served. As the night
progresses you notice your Uncle Bob frequenting the bar in the corner of the room for nearly one
drink after another. He is reaching his limit for liquor he can handle, and you notice him acting
increasingly disoriented, obnoxious, and tipsy. The rest of your family watches him as he virtually
makes a fool out of himself and comments about him fill the room. He has always been drinking way
too much since his days in the frat house at the university, states one relative. He is just like his father,

Additionally, the affect of low social status is to increase the risk of alcohol abuse for all people.
(Steen 210) There are undoubtedly numerous factors that may influence a person to become an
alcoholic, and it must be kept in mind that under the right circumstances everyone is prone to
addiction.
Although environmental factors are a key issue for alcoholism, genetics are also a factor of the
disease. Researchers often agree that the link between certain chromosomes and alcoholism are
present in the brain. Researchers describe the areas on the chromosomes as hot spots because they
probably contain hundreds of different genes that contribute to an increased risk for alcoholism.
(Marcotty 25) In addition to such hot spots, R. Grant Steen, author of DNA and Destiny: Nature and
Nurture in Human Behavior, states that there is a strong correlation between the A1 allele (a dopamine
receptor) and alcoholism in human beings. The allele was more commonly found in the brain tissue of
alcoholics than in non alcoholics. Having discovered that presence of the allele, scientists drew the
conclusion that the A1 allele was one of the best indicators that certain genetic aspects can influence
the tendency to become alcoholic. In some form or genetics play a certain role in the disease. If

Kant Vs Hobbes
1. Thomas Hobbes is the founding father of modern political philosophy, in his work ¨Leviathan¨ he
sets out why people should obey governmental authority in order to avoid the risk of chaos and
bloodshed which he defines as the ¨state of nature.¨ Imagine a world without laws. Hobbes called this
hypothetical time, with no rules to command our actions, a state of nature, and he describes life there
as solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. In a state of nature, every man is against every man. One
might assume that in such a state of nature the strong would naturally triumph over the weak and
balance would be naturally restored, however, according to Hobbes people are equal. Every individual

In other words, what s the general rule that stands behind the particular action that s being considered?
Kant refers to this principle of universality as categorical imperatives. If it is necessary for you to lie
to prevent an innocent person from being killed, you must ask what the maxim of the action is. The
maxim, in this case, is lying. If you approve the maxim of lying even to save a life then you are
universalizing that action, basically saying that everyone should always lie if it is in someone s best
interest. If you should be able to do it, then everyone should be able to do it. This leads to a
contradiction and Kant explicitly states that moral actions cannot bring about

Causes Of Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a form of liver inflammation caused by the hepacivirus, a member of the Flaviviridae
family. It is a highly infectious blood born disease most commonly transmitted by shared needles
among drug users. According to the CDC it affects approximately 3.9 million Americans and
unfortunately 2.7 million of those individuals are chronically infected. Because the signs and
symptoms may not appear sometimes for up to 20 30 years, many people may die from the chronic
illness as the disease has a higher treatment response in the acute stages. Along with shared needles,
other routes of transmission include tattooing, body piercing, needle sticks in health care setting, and
parental infections during pregnancy and child birth. Uncommonly, transmission can occur through
intercourse with an infected person or sharing personal items, such as razors or toothbrushes, that may
have infected blood on them. There has been question whether breast milk can cause infection,
however, there is currently no evidence of this. Many people may not know they are infected since it
can take years for symptoms to appear and the majority of signs and symptoms typically are related to
other conditions such as stress or influenza. Fever, fatigue, malaise, anorexia, nausea and vomiting,

Health Insurance System
In the United States, there are three basic systems in which healthcare are financed: private insurance,
public insurance, and uninsured. Within private and public insurance, there are several different types
of plans that assist in financing health care. Private health insurance utilizes various healthcare
providers to provide cost sharing in receiving healthcare services through benefits provided by
employers or for premiums (Shi Singh, 2015). Some examples of healthcare providers are commercial
insurance companies, self insured businesses, and managed care organizations (Shi Singh, 2015).

This type of insurance is financed through governmental entities for the elderly, disabled individuals,

members and their families (Shi Singh, 2015). Depending on the services, individuals may be required
to pay a co payment dependent on the program and the financial abilities of the individual or family
(Shi Singh, 2015). The advantage of public health insurance is providing high risk individuals and
their families or veterans and their families with health insurance plans for health care services at a
discount or gratis. Many high risk individuals and their families would not be able to afford health
care services because of the lack of income or ability to work. Also, one of the benefits of serving in
the military is the health care supported by the government for protecting the country. The
disadvantage of public health insurance is the limitation of funds and services subsidized by the
government. Each of these programs are limited by eligibility requirements, approved health care
services, and the budget sustained by governmental

Quantitative And Quantitative Risk Analysis
Quantitative Risk Analysis Ebony The quantitative risk analysis is a method for further evaluating the
effect of proposed risks identified by project stakeholders and teams on the ability to achieve project
objectives (Heldman, 2013, p. 274). Project teams use methods including sensitivity analyses or
predictive modeling and simulation techniques to determine how the risk will affect project progress
(Heldman, 2013, pp. 276,278). During the quantitative analysis processes, each risk is rated based on
its characteristics using an impact scale (Project Management Institute, 2013, p. 318). The analysis
ratings are divided into two categories, probability and impact, whose product indicates the risk s
severity. Moreover, project teams use an impact scale to organize and prioritize risks in a probability
and impact matrix by project objective and impact categories (e.g. low, medium, high) (Project
Management Institute, 2013, p. 318). If the risk severity exceeds the stakeholder or project team s risk
tolerances, then the project teams can proactively monitor and mitigate risks based on their priority
(Project Management Institute, 2013, p. 318).

Animal Pollution
The environment which we live in is polluted every single day. The carelessness of humans today is
further damaging the ecosystem in some ways, more identifiable than others. Factory farming is a
system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined
indoors under strictly controlled conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the
participation of the supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact
that the animal industry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense meat
production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the animal food chain.
The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change. Factory farms use
a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals. One of the chemicals used on
factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel (oil and gasoline) releases a considerable amount
of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas, formed from
the remains of dead plants and animals. It takes, on average 11 times as much fossil fuel to produce a
calorie of animal protein as it does to produce a calorie of grain protein. In the end, more carbon
dioxide is released during the production of meat rather than the manufacturing of vegetables and
plants (Peta, p.1) Another toxic chemical that is often released into the atmosphere because of factory

A Letter Of Request Letter
A letter of request,
Dear Chief Burial Master, I leave this letter wishing to inform you of my wishes for the afterlife.
I, James Doss leave you this letter regarding the actions that shall be taken to preserve my legacy
beyond this realm in the event of my death. Being a direct descendant to the bloodline of Ramesses
the Second, I expect this letter to be followed to the very letter. Due to the unforeseeable future that
could lie beyond my death, I shall inform you of his accomplishments to prove my worth. Rameses II
throughout his 66 years of rule prove to be one of the most impressive architects of this empire. He
has erected many great temples statues and cities, which now serve as key landmarks for navigation
and many flawlessly serve their purpose, as was defined at their construction. Born to Sety I and
Queen Tuya, Ramesses II showed great promise from an early age. Upon his appointment as ruler, he
began immediate reinforcement and fortification of existing Egyptian defenses showing to the people
he was a ruler that prayed for peace, but prepared for war. On top of his great architectural prowess,
my father should also be noted for his great empathy and kindness. Exhibited many times during his
reign, I wish to detail the instance in which he sheltered his own enemy king Mursili III from the
Hittite people he once commanded. He can also be commended for his brave fighting during various
military campaigns, and especially during the battle of Qadesh in the year 1274

Who Is The Sleepy Lagoon On The Zoot Suit Riots In Film
We see examples of how he zoot suit riots were in films like American Me, we see Santana s parents
Pedro and Esperanza not only as proud Zoot Suite s, but we also catch a glimpse of just how terrible
the zoot suit riots were, we witness his father; along with many others being violently beaten and his
mother being raped. In the same manner Eduardo Obregon Pagan, also discusses another similar story,
which is the Sleepy Lagoon case in his book, Murder at the Sleepy Lagoon: Zoot Suits, Race, Riot in
Wartime L.A. Pagan in which he argues that the case along with the riots resulted from a longtime and
explosive combination of racial and social tensions. The way that Pagan recreated the murder victim s

While considering Pagan s opinion on the zoot suit riots and forming my own assumption, I compare
the film American Me once again and come to the conclusion that the Zoot Suit riots and all the things
Santana s parents went through was foreshadowing the future struggles for Santana and the rest of the
Montoya family. American Me focused on a complicated development of a young Chicano male and
how growing up in the hood affected his life. The film beings with the main character, Montoya
Santana, he is incarcerated in prison where he realized he was two different people, one of him cares,
he is compassionate, but the other one of him is a killer, and does not show weakness of any kind, and
that specific part of him, he learned about himself in the streets. Although there are many hardships
and social experiences that he s had, we see that he becomes what we speculate to be a cold

The Importance Of A Shatter Zone In The Film Winter s Bone
A shatter zone used to be defined as a belt of randomly fissured or cracked rock that may be filled
with mineral deposits (Moon,pg 1). After World War two the meaning changed dramatically.
According to Moon and Talley, a shatter zone is now is borderlands where refugee populations
migrated in large numbers to escape the pressures of the state and/or the capitalist economies through
which the state exerted itself (Moon, Pg 1). For the Most part, James Scott agrees with Moon and
Talley when he defines a shatter zone as places of resistance to and refuge from some of the most
destructive effects of state making and state rule (Scott,pg 22). This zones are found wherever a large
number of people have gone to seek refuge in out of the way places ( Scott,pg 23). A shatter Zone is
depicted throughout the Film Winter s Bone .
The film, Winter s Bone, open with a shot of Ree Dolly s house. It shows that they are not very well
off, and that the mom is sick and will alway be sick. Ree has assumed her mom s role in taking care of
her young siblings. The film then shows the neighbors skinning a deer to eat. The Dolly family is
watching and hoping that they will bring them some of the meat. The neighbors do bring them meat,
showing a leveling mechanism because a leveling mechanism is to ensure social equality. This shows
that the people living here are self sufficient and do not rely on grocery stores. A sheriff then rolls up
asking for the mom, but ended up just talking to Ree.

Reflective Reflection In Reflection
My reflection regarding the previous classes, I found them to be very educational and engaging which
I think helped me to broaden and deepen my understanding of program planning. Working on the Off
campus Teaching Reflection and the Observation and Report on an Adult Learning Class or Center
assignments provided me a unique opportunity to apply what I have learned from this course into the
real world. In these classes, we covered the following topics: Designing Instruction, Devising Transfer
of Learning Plans, Access and Participation, Formulating Program Evaluation Plans, Assessment and
Evaluation, Selecting Formats, Scheduling, and Staffing Programs. After reading chapter 8 of
Planning Programs for Adult Learners by Rosemary Caffarella and Sandra Daffron, it showed me
when designing instruction we need to have a clear and understandable learning objectives that meet
intended outcomes. Developing learning objectives plays important role in program planning,
therefore, we must make sure must learn content are included. When it comes to choosing
instructional techniques we should use techniques that enable scaffolding, suitable to the audience and
their background knowledge and work for the strengths of the instructor. We should select
instructional resources that enhance the learning effort and select an assessment component. Using
assessment data should be in formative and summative ways. We need to prepare clear instructional
plans and choose instructors who know their

The Army Of The United States
The movement from a drafted to an all volunteer force has proven to provide the Army of the United
States with some of its most impressive Soldiers. Whether Soldiers desire to join the military for the
pay, job security or answering the call to serve their country, these desires have become increasingly
obsolete in today s Army because of budget cuts. The Army will begin to lose quality Soldiers due to
continued pay cuts to military pay, basic allowance for housing and changes to retirement plans. On
March 2014, presented to Congress was a 495.6 billion dollar budget for the Department of Defense
(DOD). This newly presented budget is a 400 million dollar cut from the previous fiscal year (FY)
(October 1, 2014). This budget will create a smaller; yet, agile force that can still rapidly support the
United States of America at any time. The budget will stand for continued advancements in protection
and applied research to help ensure future competitive advantages for the United States of America.
With that said, where would the 400 million dollar DOD budget cuts be made? According to the
United States Department of Defense Budget Request of Fiscal Year 2015 (DOD BR15) (2014), in
order to continue to build a readily available force to support the country s needs, budget cuts are
needed and will be made at the expense of the Soldiers. Military Soldiers and families are set to suffer
additional pay decreases due to the ongoing budget cuts from Capital Hill. First

13th Amendment Ethos And Logos
The Thirteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution abolished all forms of slavery, except as
a punishment for crime, but filmmaker Ava DuVernay wants Americans to look at the small loophole
that has kept slavery alive for centuries. At the 2016 New York Film Festival, DuVernay released the
documentary that has formed American society to open its eyes to the reality of the unjust criminal
justice system titled 13TH. The film takes the audience on a journey from when the Thirteenth
Amendment was passed in 1865 to modern day with mass incarceration as the focus. Ava DuVernay s
documentary, 13TH, uses rhetorical devices, such as pathos, logos, and ethos, to expose naïve

Eu Enlargement 2004 2007
The Economic Impact of the 2004 and 2007 Enlargements on the European Union
Task:
„Critically Discuss the Economic and Political Impact of the 2004 and 2007 Enlargements on the
European Union
The following text deals with the most recent enlargements of the European Union which took place
in 2004 and 2007, also referred to as the 10+2 Round. In contrast the term EU 15 is used to describe
the states which made up the EU before the 2004 and 2007 enlargements. The issue that is being
discussed relates to the economic impact of this enlargement round on the European Union. For
practical reasons only some aspects of the economic impact on the European Union will be discussed.

And secondly the members who are net contributers to the Community budget wish the level of
budgetary expenditures to stay the same since there has not yet been an agreement on a financing
system which is more fair.(Mayhem 2000, p.7)
This keeps the costs of enlargement relatively cheap for the EU in terms of finances but the economic
weaknesss of the acceding members may be wrongly assesed and insufficiently supported.(Baltas
2004, p.147)
If we look at the economic structures of the new member states we find that they contribute a large but
rather inefficient agricutural sector: In total, enlargement to the CEECs will more than double the size
of the EU s agricultural labour force, increase its agricutural area by about a half, but raise its output
by about only 12 percent (Nugent 2004, p.14) The problem here is similar to that facing cohesion
funding and so is the solution. Common Agricultural Policy(CAP) support was to be gradually phased
in up to 2013. The change in the agricultural sector induced by the new member states is one of the
reasons why there have been debates on agricultural reform and it will be a key issue in the enlarged
EU.
The are several reasons why the EU 15 made a modest financial support for enlargement. Scarcity of
financial means imposed by the European Monetary Union(EMU) is one of them. The paymaster of

Example Of The Eucharist
The Eucharist is portrayed as a prime example of goodness, truth, beauty, source, and summit of
Christian life through Jesus most pure sacrifice. But how does the Eucharist reflect all these thing
through being a sacrifice, as an anamnesis or remembrance of how Jesus Christ suffered for us. What
is goodness? Goodness can simply be defined as having lots of virtue or moral excellence. Virtue
comes from the Latin word Virtus which means courage. The Eucharist can be an example of virtue or
goodness because is demonstrates the courage and moral excellence that Jesus shows when he
sacrifices himself for us. Goodness can also be defined as something created by God with love that
does all he can to glorify God and serve Him. For example, evil is a lack of goodness. When Adam
and Eve sinned in the Garden they showed a lack of goodness and moral excellence. In order to fix the
lack of goodness, Jesus offered himself in an act of true goodness. To remember that act we have the
Eucharist, an example of true goodness. Truth is commonly defined as being aligned with reality.
However, truth can be subjective, things people believe to be true another may think is false. This is
where we get faith, or believing without seeing. The Eucharist appears as bread and wine, but we have
faith that it is truly the body and blood of Christ or Jesus Himself. Many people have pretended to be
Jesus, but we know they were mere imposters. We truly see Jesus in the Eucharist, like the miracle of

Mistreatment Of A Child Essay
Women and children are both victims of mistreatment frequently in the nation. This type of
mistreatment can be characterized as physical or emotional abuse. People are not aware of this serious
problem, because it occurs mostly behind closed doors. It would be a rare incident for a male figure to
abuse a woman or a child in a public area. The public service announcement attached to the end of this
document depicts a dark story of family members being abused. The image was collected from an
electronic source that had other public announcements. The source conveyed multiple misdemeanors

He Has His Mother s Eyes is a phrase presented on the image that means that the mother and the son
are both being physically abused. When the mother is being mistreated, the child would also
experience this mistreatment when trying to protect her. The statement concluded through the phrase
given and most importantly, by the boy having an injury on the left side of his eye of some type of
physical force. The area in which the injury has occurred is done by someone, because it is hard to get
that specific area injured by objects. When someone falls face forward, the bruising would happen to
the forehead or the cheeks because our eyes are concave, or slightly in the skull. In addition, the
bruising around the eye is unique because it is commonly associated with physical actions, like the
hand. The importance of this is that it shows the mistreatment of a mother and a young son by an
individual. This mistreatment is illegal in this country regardless of age. The mistreatment of family
members, like the mother and son, goes against the American ideal. Families are meant to support one
another and create a loving bond rather than having a distasteful relationship with one

How To Write A Persuasive Paper
The importance of writing, I found, was in what you wrote about and its purpose, writing helps you
get your ideas on paper and improve simply things like sentences, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
There are many types of writing for different purposes, for this semester we focused on persuasive and
research papers, but there is also poetry, fiction, creative, narratives, and even more.. I feel I have
grown as a writer in the organization, wording and lead ins of papers. I also feel I have improved in
my vocabulary and using different words to give the same meaning.
The greatest writing accomplishments, I noticed in my persuasive and research papers were in
connecting to the topic and lead ins. In the research paper I improved in leading into the topic. My
research paper was about cloning and in it I stated, Ian WIlmut, a embryologist, and Keith Campbell, a

banned, but they are mistaken and misrepresenting the view of the book . For this I used different
words and sometimes different orders to describe similar things and make it sound more educated and
believable. In addition, something I found good in my paper was my discussions of the topics. In the
persuasive paper about banning books I made a topic about why they shouldn t be banned, saying,
...taking these books off the shelves and out of schools they are taking away students First Amendment
rights to choose what books they want to read . I used good discussions to make my point about the
topic and persuade people to see the way I wanted them to. Conclusively, the persuasive paper was my

The Elizabethan Er The New Form Of Entertainment
In England, all the way back to the year 1567, a man by the name of John Brayne built the first theater
that would soon become one of Englands favorite forms of entertainment. Elizabethan Theaters were
used to perform plays, poems, and a few other things to the people of England. In total, there were
eight theaters that were scattered all throughout England. The Elizabethan era lived a good long life,
and was very successful in entertaining the people during it s time. However, all good things must
come to an end, and eventually, that is what happened to the theaters. The introduction of Elizabethan
Theaters changed the country of England by giving the people a new form of entertainment, and to
showcase what playwrights and poets were capable of during the time the era lasted. In the early days
of England, the people had many forms of entertainment. Some examples include, checkers and chess,
pubs, pit fighting, and much more. In the year 1567, England was introduced to a whole new form of
entertainment. During this year, a man named John Brayne started to build the first Elizabethan
Theater. John Brayne built The Red Lion , and it was located in Whitechapel, London. The Red Lion,
was more of just a, not too serious, playhouse meant to entertain a few people here and there. Though
it was meant to entertain only a few, the theater was a big hit with the people, and soon, other theaters
started popping up, thanks to the first of it s kind, the Red Lion theater. Ten

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor E. Frankl
In the book Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl, he uses his past experiences from different
concentration camps to describe what he learned was the true meaning of life. Throughout the book he
describes in details that he had no hope for life as he felt pain, humility, and human cruelty during his
time as a prisoner in multiple concentration camps. Frankl, believed that he had a chance to survive by
using inner strengths. His great sense of humor helped him get though the many difficult situations
that he had encountered. He supposed that what doesn t kill you makes your stronger. Frankl separated

major role in Frankl survival. Frankl accepted his fate, and all the sufferings that he has been through,
which gave him hope. During his time in the concentration camps he learned if a person didn t have

The Importance of George Wilson in The Great Gatsby Essay
The Importance of George Wilson in The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby is a superbly written and an intrinsically captivating novel that
deals with the decline of the American Dream and how vapid the upper class is. To illustrate and
capture the essence of these themes, Fitzgerald uses characters Gatsby, who epitomizes the actual
American Dream, and Daisy, who is based on the ideal girl. Yet, as these characters grasp the topics
Fitzgerald wants to convey, there is something inherently like missing from the story as a whole. To
fill this void, Fitzgerald utilizes minor characters as a means to move the plot along, develop
characters further, and build upon the themes present in the novel. One such ... Show more content on

The paradox here is that Tom is, in a sense, George himself as Tom s wife, Daisy, is in the process of
being taken away from him.
As seen with the aforementioned example, Wilson also plays a role that involves parallelism. His
situation parallels Tom s, as both have their wives being stolen. His situation parallels Gatsby s in both
their idealization of Myrtle and Daisy, respectively. Both of these patterns serve to emphasize the
character flaws in Tom and Gatsby and ultimately in the superficial lifestyle presented in the novel.
While all previous cases of Wilson have been employed as a means of further developing characters.
Complementing this role, Wilson also plays a noteworthy part in plot development. Following the
death of Myrtle, who Daisy, in fact, killed, Wilson learns of Myrtle s affair. However, through his own
odd logic, Wilson comes to believe that Myrtle was running out to see her lover, when in fact she was
running away from Wilson himself.
`Beat me! he heard her cry. `Throw me down and beat me you dirty little coward! A moment later she
rushed out into the dusk waving her hands and shouting; before he could move from his door the
business was over. The `death car as the newspapers called it, didn t stop; it came out of the gathering

Analysis Of Spike Lee s Do The Right Thing
The art of storytelling is a primary foundation for human communication and understanding. Whether
it is through myths Greek, Roman, Egyptian, you pick or wives tales or even Grandpa telling his old
war stories, stories have power. Through technological advancements in the last 150+ years, there are
multiple mediums to tell stories; film being the most potent medium used. Film has the power to not
only entertain but enlighten too. Filmmakers have the ability to challenge and manipulate the power of
the story through creative resistance; by exploring other elements of storytelling: location, voice,
color, angles, rhythm, language, filmmakers can create dramatically different films out of the same
story. Many of these filmmakers, through the feminist movement, have taken Hollywood by storm.
There are many individuals that believe the feminist movement is a woman s movement to further the
female agenda and while, it is true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I just stated, I have spent the majority of this paper discussing women in film; why I think all of
this leads well into the analysis of this film is because feminism forgot/didn t include African
American s. In Lee s film, set in Brooklyn in 1989, African American s are still being prejudiced
against; in the way that Johnston, Haskell, Rosen, Williams, etc., all discuss what it was to be a
woman in Hollywood, omitting the way African American s were also poorly treated and often
vilified, the Caucasian suppressors in this film forget about the success of the Civil Rights movement
in the 1960s. It is 1989 and they are still be oppressed. African American s are free, to an extent. In the
same way women had rights in the 20s on, but weren t treated well is the same way African American
s were treated and in some places are still

appropriate for Stanomat to record its investment in Kesser based on the 100 percent ownership that it

Kesser and prepare consolidated financial statements since it owns more than 50 percent of the

  • 2. Social Actors And Organizations As One Working Unit Blumer lastly notes that although many methodologies observe large social actors and organizations as one working unit, this does not allow the understanding of how the organization functions. Researchers should look at the individuals within the organization to see how those individuals fit together and how they interact. The interactions of the people within the organization paint a picture of how the organization functions and makes its decisions. Blumer sums up his essay perfectly by saying respect the empirical world and organize a methodological stance to reflect that respect (Blumer 1986, p. 60). Criticisms of Symbolic Interactionism As with any theory there are critics of symbolic interactionism. One weakness of symbolic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His reasoning behind why he believes this is a bit confusing and does not fully explain why this data is unreliable. He does explain that data created from a recreated world is not useable which is understandable because it is not being taken from the real world, but he does not fully explain why quantitative data taken from the real world is inherently wrong. He dismisses any validity it may hold. This is also confusing for the reader because he is very vocal about testability. He sees testability as important but throws out research types with clear testability. Many believe that Blumer s symbolic interactionism lacks hard evidence and testability. A person interprets a symbol and acts how they choose to act. This lacks the ability to be tested incorrect. Because this theory allows for the actor to respond in any way they want, then the theory can never be proven wrong meaning there is no testability (Melzer, Petros, and Reynolds 1975). Skidmore (1975) points out that Blumer s theory does not account for why an actor will make the same choice in a given situation. This paper allows for the assumption that every time an actor faces a situation they consciously interpret it and then make a choice on how to respond. This does not account for the unconscious acts and feelings that go into an action. Some actions are made without a full understanding of why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Recording The Oratorio Song Of The Forests Prior to composing the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 in 1948, Shostakovich composed the film music Michurin that was about the life of horticulturist Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin (1855 1935). The film music encouraged Shostakovich to compose another work based on the same rural theme. Below is his statement during the aired interview in 1955 that confirms it: My work in cinematography has proven beneficial for my activity as a composer. Indeed, a number of my compositions are a direct outcome of my work in the cinema. For instance, my work on the film Michurin has prompted me to compose my oratorio the Song of the Forests. In fact, the lines in song no. 5 Комсомольцы выходят вперед (Young Communists go forward!) of the oratorio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another recycled material is the melody that occurs in the movie between 31 45 and 32 04 on the scene where Michurin and the dignitaries were raising their glasses in a toast to Michurin s much expected success in developing a new horticultural technique for the benefit of Russian people. The piano plays the melody as a background music in the scene. Part of the melody becomes an important recurrent motive that gives a sense of unity to the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 (fig. 2). The unavailability of the film music score forces the author to assume that the melody is written in the key of C major as seen in fig. 2 below. Both the short and the longer versions of the melody, which appear previously in film music Michurin (fig. 2), appear in all songs of the oratorio and give a sense of unity. Borrowing the terminology mentioned by Pauline Fairclough, the short version will be called motive x. Therefore, the full length version will be called melody x. Motive x starts on the first scale degree and ascends until the fifth scale degree with a sixth scale degree as a diatonic upper neighbor pitch.According to Fairclough, motive x connects songs number 1, 6, and 7, and this proves that the Song of the Forests was composed very carefully. In addition to Fairclough s statement, motive x actually occurs in other songs as well generating a coherence in the oratorio. Below is several examples of the utilization of motive x in each song. Melody x appears ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Jew Vs Maccabees Viewpoint of Maccabees I vs. Maccabees II as Insight to Emerging Judaism The major differences between Maccabees I and Maccabees II are that they are told by different authors from different regions at different times to different audiences. They both tell the same story of Jewish oppression, uprisings and revolts in the 2nd century B,C. The major difference is that Maccabees II is greatly influenced by the Greek culture and is meant for a Hellenistic Jew. In fact, Maccabees II is written in Greek by a Hellenistic Jew, while Maccabees I was written in Hebrew by a Palestine Jew. A comparison of the two books illustrates how the Jewish religion changed from the time of the writing of the first book until the writing of the second. The idea that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Maccabees II a more dramatic and meaningful form of prayer is a common theme. Jews held up hands; stretched out their hands and rose from prayer. [2 Macc 3:18 20; 2 Macc 10: 25 27; 2 Macc14: 34 36; 2 Macc15: 12]. Where as in Maccabees I movements associated with prayer are much more subtle and not as dramatic. Verses, such as 1 Macc 3:44; 1 Macc 4:55 56; 1Macc 7:40, display this common theme, but again, the references to prayer are more scarce than in the Second Maccabees. This is due to the fact that the writer of the Second Maccabees is again trying to stress the importance of divine worship and omnipotence. This idea was not seen as a threat to the writer in the First Maccabees. The motif of prayer in these books is somewhat minor, but supports the idea that the author is clearly writing to an audience that must pray together even though they are no longer in Israel. Prayer is more to important to the author of Maccabees II as a way to ward off the threat of the Jews losing their heritage. Prayer in the First Maccabees serves as an act of gratitude for their success to the earlier persecution and admiration for the Law [1 Macc 3:48; 1 Macc 4:10; 1 Macc 4:36 59; 1 Macc12: 9 15; 1 Macc13: 51]. • 5. Narra Tor Rhyme Scheme Along with visual aspects, rhyme, and rhythm Love and a Question also has a specific form, language, and ideas. The form of the poem in relation to the rhyme scheme is a simple 4 line which is an abcb rhyme scheme repeated throughout the poem; Robert Frost does not stray away from the abcb rhyme scheme once during Love and a Question. The rhetoric in this poem expresses the speaker as a descriptive individual. The narrator describes the stranger asking for shelter with the eyes more than the lips, and he road this stranger travelled upon as a weary road, such word choice implies the narrator is a very eloquent and thoughtful (21). The narra tor sees the need in the stranger s eyes for shelter and notes the tiring journey this stranger has been on thus far, this rhetoric also demonstrates specific word choice of the narrator. The narra tor chose words like weary to express the long and tiring journey the stranger has been on up till this point, the road he traveled to get to the bridegroom s house was extensive and wearing (21). Another example of word choice by the narrator is the word bore in the statement He bore a green white stick in his hand, the stranger was not just carrying this green white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last statement reinforces the conflict between as selfishness and human compassion as the narrator is still undecided and conflicted on whether to let the man in or just give him some aid and send him off. This last sentence also displays the title of the poem in Love and a Question the bridegroom has a love, who is his bride, and a question about whether he should spend the night solely with her or let the needy stranger stay with them. By ending the poem this way, the bridegroom is still left with an unsolved internal conflict, the same internal struggle that mani fested throughout the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Have you ever wondered what DACA is and what it has to do with the United States? Do you wonder why the government recently shut down? I m going to be writing about the DACA program and the effects that is has/had on the United States Government. President Trump has to sign a paper to agree with the DACA program and the democrats. The government has shut down on Saturday, January 20th, 2018 and was reopened on Monday, January 22nd, 2018. (Collins) The government was shutdown due to a bill called an, appropriations bill . The bill needed to be signed by President Trump by midnight on January 19th, 2018. The congress failed to pass a bill that would keep them operating, although the government was shut down not every government employee was sent home. The government reopened on January 22nd, 2018 and is back up and running. The DACA program is still being discussed and they have not come to a decision on the topic just yet. The DACA program is used a protection for those that were brought to the United States as children. To be in the program you have to be at least 16 so, if you were brought here before and you are not at the age of 16 you must go back home. Families do not believe that is a fair agree but that is the price they have to pay. • 7. We Re Hot as Hell We re Hot as Hell Is global warming a moral dilemma? Is it the public policy problem from hell? In The Environmental Issue from Hell, Bill McKibben uses many of such phrases en route to arguing for a new approach to global warming. By discussing hell and morals, the reader s mind is already equating it with two heavily debated issues. Therefore, we begin to question their existence and how we should deal with the subjects. McKibben wisely chooses these disputes to represent his main concerns: the ways in which consumerism affects the global ecosystem, and the impact of humans on the environment. McKibben presents a solution on how to handle each of these environmental issues, utilizing both the people and the government. McKibben s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mckibben inaugurates his third paragraph suggesting that we make the environmental issues, the great moral crisis of our time, and the equivalent of the civil rights movement of the 1960s. (747). He uses this analogy to explain that in his opinion, we are strip mining the present and destroying all of whom come after it. Thus, leading him to discuss exactly how humans materialistic ways have impacted the earth. From Bangladesh living three months in thigh high deep water, to polar bears becoming 20% scrawnier than they were a decade ago (748). The environmentalist writer goes on to discuss how to deal with global warming since it is indeed creeping up on us. Mckibben once again articulates his repetitive view that, it s a moral question, finally, if you think we owe any debt to the future. (748). In many circumstances it is believed that if it had been done to us, we would dislike the generation that did it, just as how we will one day be disliked. The solution given in the essay on how to handle these environmental issues is to start a moral campaign. In other words, ... turn it into a political issue, just as bus boycotts began to make public the issue of race, forcing the system to respond. (748). As a part of the overall populist causing these issues, Mckibben understands that the hardest part about starting this moral campaign is identifying a villain to overcome. Briefly ... Get out of the way paper, pens, pencils, and textbooks and make room for the netbook, laptop, iPod, iPhone and iPad; they are moving into the classroom. Students are ready to use these new gadgets whether educators are ready or not. Therefore, the world of education needs to embrace the world of technology and take off on the World Wide Web. Technology is not going away. Our students of today must be technosavvy in order to function in their adult lives of tomorrow. Also, I believe with repeated use of the iPod, his fluency and silent reading speed will increase. When he tested on the book he showed that this method was successful for him because he scored a 100 on the Accelerated Reader assessment. If more teachers would implement using the iPod with reluctant readers and allow them to experience some success then they maybe more inclined to branch out on their own to become independent readers. Textbooks are only as up to date as the day they leave the printer. Think of the millions of dollars that could be saved on textbooks if students were issued laptops and textbooks were converted to ebooks. Hmo Influence On Health Care Running head: INFLUENCE OF HMO S HMO s University of Phoenix Abstract The term Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) was developed in 1970 as part of the Nixon Administration to promote the growth of prepaid plans as a way to improve the nation s health system. The Health Maintenance Organization has an appearance on the outside of being very appealing to those with little money to spend on insurance because it has a very low premium cost, but the truth be known that sometimes cheaper is not always better. In this paper I will discuss how HMO s have influenced current healthcare systems. I became ill and was rushed to one of the best hospitals in the U.S. Tests were run and because I had a PPO there were no questions as to who my primary care doctor was. There were no questions as to what my insurance would pay for on the expensive tests. Now back home in the North I currently have an HMO which as I stated is only a few dollars cheaper than my PPO. I recently broke my back and was rushed to the local hospital because of the emergency situation. While in the E.R. the doctors had to notify my primary doctor and get permission from the insurance company to run tests and for me to even be allowed to stay in that hospitals E.R. My primary care doctor was over an hour away in another state. I was cleared to go to another bigger hospital for emergency surgery but it took a lot of time to get the clearance. I currently am suffering through bills because through an HMO it is a courtesy for any hospital to call any insurance. If I still had PPO I would not have been questioned as to cost and the hospital would have been paid because I could through a PPO go to any hospital without permission. In summary, the time has come for Congress to make decisions regarding appropriate health care and to understand that at times cheaper is not always better. Bibliography Safran, D. W. ... The use of compression first appeared 60 years ago to provide relief for those suffering from circulation disorders, and clothing to provide compression had been introduced following this. In recent years, the clothing has grown rapidly in popularity among sports practitioners and enthusiasts. The benefits that compression clothing provides include circulation improvements, enhanced muscle recovery from injuries, improvements in oxygen use efficiency and distribution, and increases in overall athletic performance. 1. Theories for the causes of these two benefits include improved muscle function due to the compression clothing holding the muscles in place. When muscles are not held into place, they vibrate, which could lead to energy loss. It is also quite likely that circulation system and oxygen usage improvements described previously contribute to increases in athletic endurance. For all these reasons, athletes can stand to benefit from wearing compression clothing while taking part in sports or exercising. Due to improvements in the way the body handles oxygen and blood during aerobic activity from wearing this type of clothing, intensity of exercise can be increased and endurance related benefits may also be experienced. Not only can compression clothing promote recovery from injuries, compression clothing also commonly features thick padding that eliminates excess sweat produced by the body and provides cushioning to shield athletes bodies from injury. If you approve the maxim of lying even to save a life then you are universalizing that action, basically saying that everyone should always lie if it is in someone s best interest. Project teams use methods including sensitivity analyses or predictive modeling and simulation techniques to determine how the risk will affect project progress (Heldman, 2013, pp. 276,278). During the quantitative analysis processes, each risk is rated based on its characteristics using an impact scale (Project Management Institute, 2013, p. 318). Factory farming is a system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the participation of the supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact that the animal industry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense meat production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the animal food chain. The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change. Factory farms use a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals. One of the chemicals used on factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel (oil and gasoline) releases a considerable amount of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas, formed from the remains of dead plants and animals. But how does the Eucharist reflect all these thing through being a sacrifice, as an anamnesis or remembrance of how Jesus Christ suffered for us. What is goodness? Goodness can simply be defined as having lots of virtue or moral excellence. Virtue comes from the Latin word Virtus which means courage. The Eucharist can be an example of virtue or goodness because is demonstrates the courage and moral excellence that Jesus shows when he sacrifices himself for us. Goodness can also be defined as something created by God with love that does all he can to glorify God and serve Him. For example, evil is a lack of goodness. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden they showed a lack of goodness and moral excellence. In order to fix the lack of goodness, Jesus offered himself in an act of true goodness. To remember that act we have the Eucharist, an example of true goodness. Truth is commonly defined as being aligned with reality. However, truth can be subjective, things people believe to be true another may think is false. This is where we get faith, or believing without seeing. In the persuasive paper you had to discredit the opposing side, I did this by stating, Some parents and students argue that these books should be banned, but they are mistaken and misrepresenting the view of the book . For this I used different words and sometimes different orders to describe similar things and make it sound more educated and believable. In addition, something I found good in my paper was my discussions of the topics. In the persuasive paper about banning books I made a topic about why they shouldn t be banned, saying, ...taking these books off the shelves and out of schools they are taking away students First Amendment rights to choose what books they want to read . I used good discussions to make my point about the topic and persuade people to see the way I wanted them to. • 34. The Importance of George Wilson in The Great Gatsby Essay The Importance of George Wilson in The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby is a superbly written and an intrinsically captivating novel that deals with the decline of the American Dream and how vapid the upper class is. To illustrate and capture the essence of these themes, Fitzgerald uses characters Gatsby, who epitomizes the actual American Dream, and Daisy, who is based on the ideal girl. Yet, as these characters grasp the topics Fitzgerald wants to convey, there is something inherently like missing from the story as a whole. To fill this void, Fitzgerald utilizes minor characters as a means to move the plot along, develop characters further, and build upon the themes present in the novel. One such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The paradox here is that Tom is, in a sense, George himself as Tom s wife, Daisy, is in the process of being taken away from him. As seen with the aforementioned example, Wilson also plays a role that involves parallelism. His situation parallels Tom s, as both have their wives being stolen. His situation parallels Gatsby s in both their idealization of Myrtle and Daisy, respectively. Both of these patterns serve to emphasize the character flaws in Tom and Gatsby and ultimately in the superficial lifestyle presented in the novel. While all previous cases of Wilson have been employed as a means of further developing characters. Complementing this role, Wilson also plays a noteworthy part in plot development. Following the death of Myrtle, who Daisy, in fact, killed, Wilson learns of Myrtle s affair. However, through his own odd logic, Wilson comes to believe that Myrtle was running out to see her lover, when in fact she was running away from Wilson himself. `Beat me! he heard her cry. `Throw me down and beat me you dirty little coward! A moment later she rushed out into the dusk waving her hands and shouting; before he could move from his door the business was over. The `death car as the newspapers called it, didn t stop; it came out of the gathering darkness, wavered tragically for a moment and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Analysis Of Spike Lee s Do The Right Thing The art of storytelling is a primary foundation for human communication and understanding. Whether it is through myths Greek, Roman, Egyptian, you pick or wives tales or even Grandpa telling his old war stories, stories have power. Through technological advancements in the last 150+ years, there are multiple mediums to tell stories; film being the most potent medium used. Film has the power to not only entertain but enlighten too. Filmmakers have the ability to challenge and manipulate the power of the story through creative resistance; by exploring other elements of storytelling: location, voice, color, angles, rhythm, language, filmmakers can create dramatically different films out of the same story. Many of these filmmakers, through the feminist movement, have taken Hollywood by storm. There are many individuals that believe the feminist movement is a woman s movement to further the female agenda and while, it is true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I just stated, I have spent the majority of this paper discussing women in film; why I think all of this leads well into the analysis of this film is because feminism forgot/didn t include African American s. In Lee s film, set in Brooklyn in 1989, African American s are still being prejudiced against; in the way that Johnston, Haskell, Rosen, Williams, etc., all discuss what it was to be a woman in Hollywood, omitting the way African American s were also poorly treated and often vilified, the Caucasian suppressors in this film forget about the success of the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. It is 1989 and they are still be oppressed. African American s are free, to an extent. In the same way women had rights in the 20s on, but weren t treated well is the same way African American s were treated and in some places are still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the period of the note Stanomat will acquire unissued shares of Kesser and upon complete payment of the note Stanomat will own 100 percent of the subsidiary. At 55 percent of ownership, Stanomat will record its investment at 100 percent ownership. We do not believe it is appropriate for Stanomat to record its investment in Kesser based on the 100 percent ownership that it has committed to purchase. Stanomat will use the equity method to account for its investment in Kesser and prepare consolidated financial statements since it owns more than 50 percent of the company. However, in order to accurately reflect its share of Kesser s assets and income, it should only record and report the portion that it is entitled to.
