Teotihuacan Culture
The culture that I will be talking about is the culture of TeotihuacГЎn from Mexico. Between
100B.C.E and 200 C.E the city grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest cities in Mesoamerica.
From my perspective there are different factors that contributed to the growth of TeotihuacГЎn,
resources, neighbors, trade, religious matters, and economy. This paper will basically focus on the
economy and how it was utilized to form this urban state of TeotihuacГЎn, whether it be the effects
of trade and tribute, goods and services, reciprocity, or corruption it all played a role in the
uprising of this city. TeotihuacГЎn was developed by different reason but I think that its economy
had more influence on its growth and this may explain the development of TeotihuacГЎn.... Show

Teotihuacan now experienced a kind of renewal, probably to accommodate the populations growth
and to keep people at work. (Kurtz 1997, 337)The raw and finished material entering TeotihuacГЎn
and its growing political and economic influence throughout Mesoamerica helped to expand its
economy, enlarging markets, increasing jobs, and developing technology. The completion of the
Ciudadela suggests a centralized political structure. The completion of the political, religious and
market complexes effectively symbolized Teotihuacan s hegemony over a resource zone that
extended from coast to coast. (Ronald 1997, 335) The establishments of these areas around public
building suggest a centralized political system. Some craftsmen engaged in employment by the
elites. This might have been dedicated to the production of exported goods controlled by the elites
and would have complemented the work of craftsmen. It could be said that manufacturing expanded
during this time, and that obsidian was manufactured and exported beyond the basin. I think that
obsidian production was complemented by increase in other work, such as pottery making, painting

Fallen Angels In America
Fallen Angels in America Tony Kushner s play Angels in America was set in the 1980s, amid
Ronald Reagan s administration. Many people believe that this play is political, since we hear a
significant amount about Reagan. Additionally, his administration has been largely criticized for its
negligence toward the AIDS crisis. Furthermore, numerous LGBT activists have blamed Reagan for
overlooking the epidemic since it was thought to be, for the most part, a disease that primarily
affected gay men and, perhaps not surprising, African Americans. Although, Tony Kushner s Angels
in America primarily focused on the AIDS epidemic in the United States, Kushner masterfully used
themes of political, racial, religious, hopelessness and whiteness, to unload the more profound
complexities inside the political views of the LGBTQ development... Show more content on

Consequently, for reasons unknown, a great deal. One fascinating association between these
two characters is the way they are both attached to the topic of Renditions of Reality.
Throughout the play, Prior experienced abnormal dreams while Harper, the Mormon housewife
of Joe Pitt, is engaged in discussions with an imaginary friend, Mr. Lies. These two characters
exist in another reality that is different from the rest of the cast. For example, in one scene Prior
and Harper meet in some sort of weird joint dream. They do not know each other, yet share this
odd and intense experience. In this scene, the two characters support each other to understand
their essential truths: Harper helps Prior see that even though he feels dejected and hopeless,
some part of him is not tainted while Prior reveals to Harper that her husband is a homosexual.
Harper clarifies that occasionally you can see things when you are on the threshold of revelation
(Kushner 33). This is the space where truths are revealed and secrets are

Compare And Contrast Arizona And Virginia
Where to live? This is a question many people ask themselves, but narrow it down to two states
such as Virginia and Arizona. While on the surface, Arizona and Virginia are beautiful states that
most people would love to live in. But both states have their drawbacks from weather to the size of
their state and population and politics. In another light they both have quite a few number of
benefits such as accessibility and law enforcement. First most, Arizona is known as one of the
hottest states with temperatures sometimes reaching 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature has
been proven to be able to cook food items such as eggs and cookie dough. In addition to having hot
weather, during summer Arizona begins its monsoon season with heavy winds and occasional rain.

Arizona comes in at 113, 998 mi2 and Virginia pales in comparison by 42,775 mi2. While
Virginia is smaller size, the population size comes in at 8.412 million people. Especially due to
weather, Arizona only has 6.931 million people residing in the state. Furthermore, agriculturally,
Arizona is mainly famous for growing cotton and their 5 C s: cotton, cattle, citrus, cattle, and
copper. In contrast, Virginia is widely known for growing tobacco. In addition, both states grow
marijuana which rakes in more cash than other cash crops. Equally important, Arizona and
Virginia are blessed with access to multiple utilities which are usually taken for granted. They
have access to clean water, electricity, internet, cell service, and much more. Also, they have
access to modern medical facilities for humans and animals. While they may be similar in
accessibility, the median cost of homes differentiates significantly. The median costs of homes in
Arizona are about $223,700. This comes to about $142 per square foot. In Virginia, the median
cost of homes increases to $299,999 and about $153 per square

Future Self Assessment
At the start of my studies here at Southern New Hampshire University I found myself frightened
by the future. I feared the unknown and I questioned my ability to succeed and have a successful
life. However, as I continued my studies and learned progressively about myself, my current
abilities, my organization, and the various aspects of organizational behavior. Due to this I realize
how essential I am to myself, my family, and my organization. The decisions I made in the past,
present, and near futurewill merely pave the way as I improve myself financially, physically, and
emotionally. I will utilize the SWOT and PEST analysis as a business and personal resource. After
completing this course I have determined that I must constantly endeavor if I wish to have a
successful future.
After careful consideration, I have chosen to simply self improve myself financially, emotionally,
and physically. By improving these three aspects of myself I will be a more confident transactional

employer simply viewed me as the new kid in the office. I mentioned in the first self assessment
that I feel as though I receive as much credit, recognition, or thanks for everything I have done. I
believe that if my superiors either change their leadership style, backed me, provided me with

Martyrdom Of Saint Antonio Di Credi
At the Nelson Atkins Museum of art there are many different Art pieces from the Renaissance
time period. Of the collection 5 pieces grasped the attention (4 from the Renaissance and 1 from
Baroque) due to their style, subject matter, use of color, symbolism, figure placement, artist
attention and technics. The 5 pieces of artwork are Madonna and Child with the Infant Saint John
the Baptist (1510), Portrait of a Man (1620/21), The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence, Christ and
the Centurion, and The Triumph of Bacchus. The Painting of Madonna with the two children by

In the 3rd century Christianity was outlawed and public executions such as Saint Lawrence s were
made public to spread a message. In the painting Girolamo tried to connect back to classical
times by using a oil pain which is dries slow and is flexible therefore allowing him to use
Sfumato, which allows the colors to gradually shade into each other, creating a classic look. He
also uses a technique that allows the focal point to be on Saint Lawrence by having the crowd look
at Saint Lawrence being grilled. In 1575 Paolo Caliari created the paint, Christ and the Centurion in
Venezia, Italy. The image depicted shows Christ converting Roman Centurion and shows the
symbolism of Christianity to non Jews. The painting shows a strict relief composition to show the
classicizing Renaissance style during the ages of Mannerism. Different details of the painting show

Dementia Care Case Study
The main problem for a family that has a dementia patient is the extra care that is to be given to
the patient. Most of the time they are not aware of the full details of the condition and are ill
equipped to cater to the requirements of the patient. The two options that people go for are in house
care with a private nurse or a dementia care home. Most countries have dementia care centres that
specially cater to the condition. Care centres are evolving from the common mould of elderly
homes where the patients are sequestered in to centres that actually improve the patients lifestyle
through thoughtful programmes and activities. 4.2. Global context Dementia is a condition that

School Of Nursing Analysis Paper
School of Nursing Analysis Paper The University of Rochester, School of Nursing was founded
in 1928, concurrently with the Strong Memorial Hospital and the School of Medicine and
Dentistry. The School of Nursing became an independent school in 1968, partnering nursing with
medicine and becoming an organizational model that would influence nursing at a national level.
In 1998, declining baccalaureate enrollment and the financial crisis that this caused created new
challenges for the School. Competition among area schools fueled changes. The School of
Nursing could no longer compete with tuition rates for baccalaureate programs at other schools.
Prospective students were choosing schools with lower cost of tuition for nursing programs. The
School of Nursing had to quickly figure out how to make their programs marketable. The
decision was made to phase out the generic baccalaureate program and restructure the program so
that it was geared toward registered nurses. What was born from this restructure was the
accelerated program for non nurses and the registered nurse to baccalaureate program (RN to BS).
During the 1999 strategic planning process, emphasis was focused on creating nationally
recognized areas for research as identified by the Medical Center (Strong Memorial Hospital). To
help with this goal, faculty was recruited specifically to enhance the School of Nursing s research
and scholarship programs. The School of Nursing s emphasis changed from the student

Aurora Borealis And The Northern Light
In the 18th century, a new form of art, called Romanticism developed in Europe, and reached its
peak in the 19th century. One of the significant artists of the Romanticism art period was
Frederick Edwin Church, a painter from New York, who portrayed landscapes. One of his
remarkable works is his oil, canvas piece, Aurora Borealis, in which he portrays the Northern
Lights. Aurora Borealis is an oil, canvas inspired by Dr. Isaac Hayes, Church s friend, who went
on an arctic expedition in 1860 and gave his sketches and notes of the landscape view to Church.

Death Penalty Decline
Also offenders aged fifteen and younger at the time of their crimes was unconstitutional (
introduction to the death penalty ). This shows that there are many factors that prevent a person
from getting the death penalty and these limitations protects them from it. In recent years, the
United States numbers of death sentences are steadily declining from 300 in 1998 to 106 in 2009 (
introduction to the death penalty). This shows that the usage of the death penalty is declining and
many people are not being punished with the death penalty. This also shows that the death penalty
is still being used in certain crimes in the United States. This is showing that the death penalty
might not be used as much in the future.

The Importance Of Financial Support For Curriculum...
Financial Support for Curriculum Development
Money is what makes the world go around, or so that is what we are taught. There are many factors
of curriculum design that focus around the community, whether it is demographics or needs; these
are taken into consideration when determining a new nursing program. Then there are financial
obligations of the institution and program that influence the development and the maintenance of a
curriculum. In this paper the discussion will be based on the financial aspect of nursing programs.
Discussion
Financial support for curriculum development is an important undertaking while designing the
program. Keating discusses that there are financial factors such as making sure that the program is
realistic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may include hospital chairman, public health officials, as well as stakeholders in the program
itself. By utilizing a committee of people with different backgrounds, the program will have an
approach that would be innovative in structure as well as funding.
In addition, Keating noted that a major resource for program development is at the federal level
through Health Resources and Services Administration, Division of Nursing (2015, p. 174). Keating
also discussed that there are mnay private foundations that allocate funds for nursing programs;
these include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (2015).
These funds both public and private are important in funding nursing programs. Lastly, partnerships
are seen as a way to link health care education with health care agencies. In an article for Colorado
Nurse, it was noted that a program in Colorado explored a program design that partnered with a
local hospital to complete the necessary components to a BSN degree, with a savings of thirty five
percent on tuition (2016). So understanding where the monies are allocated is huge to maintaining a
successful curriculum and program. Keating also discussed that partnerships could assist program
funding, provide work study programs, and even allow students to earn academic credits (2015).
Nursing faculty plays an important role in funding for the program. Administrators and faculty staff
alike have roles that

Insanity In Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart
Insanity is not always seen directly from the outside. Edgar Allan Poe once said, I became
insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity. Someone may appear normal, but no one can read
someone else s mind when it comes to mental health. In Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell
Tale Heart, the narrator strives to support his lucidity after murdering the old man under his care.
Although he repeatedly claims that he is logical and acts with sagacity, the narrator s noetic
process and behaviors indicate he actually is insane. The narrator s lack of reason and auditory
hallucinations provide proof of his dementia. To begin with, the narrator s lack of reason for his
groundless actions provides evidence for his insanity, contradicting the belief that he is
mentally stable. The narrator had no rational reason to murder the old man. For example, the
narrator stated Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had
never wronged me. He had never given me insult (p 1). Therefore, the old man had never done
anything to harm the narrator, nor had he ever wronged him in any way. The only reason the
narrator killed the old man was because he was deranged in multiple ways; one of his significant
reasons however, was because he felt the old man s eye was threatening. Moreover, he says
Whenever it [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up
my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the

This quote from the book shows how miserable his life was, especially in the workhouse.
Crimson with fury, Oliver started up; overthrew the chair and table; seized Noah by the throat;
shook him, in the violence of his rage, till his teeth chattered in his head; and collecting his whole
force into one heavy blow, felled him to the ground.
This quote describes how Oliver acted with rage when Noah abused his mother.
The remarks in the beginning of chapter 6 are highly ironic as he describes how mourners
present at the funeral of a wealthy elderly relative are able to prevail over their misery, when
actually get to inherit a lot of wealth. It is quite a contradiction, how there is a lot of sorrow for
the loss of a beloved relative of a poor family to a loved one of a wealthy family. Charles uses this
to give members of a richer family a better understanding of the fast growing gap between the poor
and rich. When Twist departs from the undertaker s place heading towards London, he goes up to
the workhouse,to meet his friend Dick, even though he was unwell. This scene has great poignancy
in it because Dick, who is himself dying, blesses

Exegesis Of Psalm 23
Exegesis on Psalm 23
Introduction:
The 23rd Psalm is arguably the most infamous and popular psalms among people in the western
world. With 1/3 of the worlds population identifying with an Abrahamic faith (Christian, Jews or
Muslin), the psalms play a vital role in the emotions towards God and about God to the believer.
This psalm is neither intermingled with prayers, nor does it complain of miseries for the purpose
of obtaining relief; but it contains simply a thanksgiving, from which it appears that it was
composed when David had obtained peaceable possession of the kingdom, and lived in prosperity,
and in the enjoyment of all he could desire. That he might not, therefore, in the time of his great
prosperity, be like worldly men, who, when they seem to themselves to be fortunate, God in
forgetfulness, and luxuriously plunge themselves into their pleasures, he delights himself in God,
the author of all the blessings which he enjoyed. And he not only acknowledges that the state of
tranquility in which he now lives, and his exemption from all inconveniences and troubles, is
owing to the goodness of God; but he also trusts that through his providence he will continue
happy even to the close of his life, and for this end that he may employ himself in his pure
worship. It s a Psalm of journey and of nourishment both along the way and at the end.
Authorship
The Psalm begins with a title ascribing this psalm to David.

Spencer s Theory Of Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism came to popularity in 1859 when Charles Darwin, a British naturalist,
published his book called On the Origin of Species about his theory of Darwinism . This theory
was very popular between the years 1870 1890; it spanned until the early 1900s (around 1910).
Social Darwinism is any conviction or hypothesis that endeavors to clarify human culture as far as
regular determination specifies the hypothesis that people, ethnic gatherings, and so on make
progress or predominance as a result of inborn hereditary prevalence and a resultant upper hand.
The hypothesis of Social Darwinismsaid that the people who were feeble were getting smaller in
quantity as the more solid people developed in power. Herbert Spencer, a British philosopher and
sociologist, acquired Darwin s theory of evolutionand twisted the idea around to make his idea of
survival of the fittest connect with Darwin s theory. Spencer said: The wealthy and powerful were
the fittest, people endowed with innate intelligence, strength, and the adaptability that enabled them
to succeed in the competitive world of business (Visions of America).... Show more content on

Businesses were also affected by this theory by ways of being the fittest business which could
produce products faster and better for the economy and consumer. The smaller, more lazy
businesses were not fit to join the market and would soon tumble under and lose the business.
Social Darwinism had a huge negative impact on racial structures. The theory basically says that
whites are on top because they were, obviously, superior over the black population of the time
period. It also says that we should not, by any means, let the inferior blacks take over our so called

Hepatitis C has been referred to as a quot;Silent Epidemic, quot; since it usually progresses

symptoms appear, the virus has probably already begun to damage the liver. If the liver is injured

After 1992 blood banks began screening the blood for the hepatics C virus. According to Dr.
Palmer on page 117 she states, that it has been estimated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)
that almost 300,000 Americans have contracted HCV prior to the advent of screening of donated
blood and blood product for HIV.
Today, the incidence of obtaining this virus by receiving a blood transfusion is approximately 1
in 200,000 units of blood donors. In essence, the likelihood of contacting HCV from blood
transfusion has been minuscule since 1992. The reason that this small risk still exists is that
when a person initially becomes infected with HCV for a short period of time, known as the
window period, the HCV antibody is not detectable in the blood. If this person donates blood
during the window period, her blood will carry HCV, but it will not be detectable. Dr..Palmer
recommends anyone who received a blood transfusion prior to 1992 be tested for HCV.
According to Cohen and Gish the HCV virus can live outside the body for three to four hours and
is not easily killed with chlorine bleach. Therefore, other means of transmission are shared personal
grooming items such as razors, toothbrushes, scissors and manicuring equipment, which may carry
blood residue.
Lastly is unprotected sex. The virus is present in the menstrual blood of infected women, so sexual
intercourse at this time creates a potentially hazardous

Arguments Against Interracial Marriage
Marriage should be solely based on love for an individual, not the color of their skin or the god
they choose to believe in. No matter the race or religion of an individual, everyone deserves to be

can create many new opportunities for the couple, it gives the children more lifestyle options to

was never accepted. Now that it is becoming more accepted the numbers have been rising and are
expected to keep rising throughout the years. The percentage was 14.6% in 2008, up from 6.7% in
1980... (Jayson, 2011, para.6). With numbers continually increasing, it means that many people are
becoming more tolerant with the fact that interracial couples are now accepted and can legally be
joined as one. When the anti miscegenation law was passed in 1967, interracial couples began to
slowly appear. Once numbers started to grow, it was an influence on many people because it
was now portrayed as ok . This gave a sense of hope to many and showed that everyone now had
equality to be with whoever they chose. Moreover, interracial relationships bring acceptance in
society because kids now see mixed raced forms in the media. Younger Americans have grown up
in an environment where they have been immersed with multi cultural images from sports, to
television, to music, to gender to literature (Watson, 2014, para.6). As one sees biracial or
multiracial people around them or in the media , it makes the individual more comfortable with the
subject of mixing races. Growing up in an environment with multiracial people can help bring
acceptance and a welcomed feeling to all

Stereotypes In Dungeons And Dragons
Dungeons and Dragons is a role playing game that requires time, patience, and a relatively good
imagination. Society has grown up with this game for several decades and yet the majority has no
knowledge of its works and rules other than the misconceptions of stereotypes and confused
explanations. When asked about the game, certain social groups are targeted as the player when, in
truth, the quantity is much larger than previously thought. Dungeons and Dragons is a game that is
more than a game. It is a bonding experience with many personal properties, overcomes the
stereotypes, and that everyone can try or witness at least once in their life.
This massive, medieval timed, role playing game can be easily misunderstood for good reason; ...

Some players like the imagination the game requires and using the power of their mind to create
a fantasy world where they can start and end wars, create civilizations, battle monsters, and trek
on an epic adventure. Not only is the game based on the creativity of the player, but structure is a
key element just like it is in the human language or in music. For example, a young man who has
played soccer and enjoyed the sport for most of his life may find a liking to the structure of the
game and creating his own ideas in context. Another likely aspect to admire is the social
requirement; you cannot play this game alone. It requires at least two people, but most parties
have five to eight players. This provides a face to face interaction that can lead to bonding and
friendships. An example is when a younger adult who enjoys spending his time with technology
is given a chance to have contact with other people on a similar subject, there is always the
chance of making new friends. The game is also built around performance of characters, based on
dice rolls and abilities obtained, and problem solving skills that the Dungeon Master creates during
the game play. Because of it s many parts, Dungeons and Dragons can attract many different people

A GUIDE FOR MANAGERS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF CANADA
iii
A WORD FROM THE CHAIR
The Public Service of Canada evolves in a world where risks have become increasingly complex
and serious, and this in turn has greatly increased the likelihood of crises or emergencies. The
events linked to the attacks of September 11, 2001 and, more recently, to the Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the Mad Cow Disease are just a few examples that highlight
the important role the Government of Canada needs to play in managing crises and emergencies.
In the big picture, crises and emergencies are inevitable and it is only a question of time before
one or the other occurs. Federal

Immigration Into Canada
Immigration Into Canada
Abstract This paper is concerned with the recent wave of Hong Kong immigrants into Vancouver.
The stage is set for this discussion by first explaining some background behind Canadian
immigration policy and then discussing the history of
Chinese immigrants in Vancouver. From these discussions we are informed that
Canadian immigration policy was historically ethnocentric and only began to change in the late
1960s. It was at this point that we see a more multicultural group of immigrants into our nation. The
history of Chinese immigration in
Vancouver, and for that matter, Canadais not positive one. The experiences and prejudices which
were developed over 100 years ago still colours the way in which we view one ... Show more

Throughout the 20th Century the Canadian government has set targets for the number of
immigrant entries based upon economic criteria. Periods of encouragement have included the early
decades of this century along with the reconstruction era of Post World War II. The 30s, 40s and the
recession of the early 80s have been periods during which the national government has discouraged
immigration. At times, economic concerns have given way to humanitarian ones such as during the
Soviet invasions of Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and during the Vietnamese refugee crisis of the
70s. Generally, however, Canadian immigration targets have reflected the rate of economic
expansion and employment. An exception to this rule was during the latter part of the 1980s.
Worry over the declining fertility rate and our ageing population led the federal government to raise
its annual targets despite high unemployment. Most recently, under economic pressures, the most
recent Liberal government once again lowered the immigration level.
The Geography of Immigration There have also been attempts at controlling the geography of
immigrant settlement. The Federal government stated that one of the primary goals of immigration
is to, foster the development of a strong and viable economy and the prosperity of all regions in
Canada. Immigration in our country has been seen as a means of promoting economic development
in less prosperous regions, as well as supporting heartland areas. While the

The Freedom Of The United States Essay
Freedom House was established in 1941 in the United States and focused first on the threat to
freedom represented by Nazism. After the war, in its own words, it took up the struggle against
the other great twentieth century totalitarian threat, Communism and defined its mission as
working for the spread of democracy and human rights in the world. Indeed, one of the
instruments developed by Freedom House in order to spread its mission is the s press freedom
index, which has not changed practically at all since its creation in 1980. Due to this
methodological continuity for over three decades, this index is amply used and quoted within and
outside academia (Becker et al., 2007; Holtz Bacha, 2004; Behmer, 2011). During the analyzed
period 2010 2014, the questionnaire suffered minor, but significant changes: as of 2011, the word
bloggers was introduced in some of the questions, together with professional journalists. The
instructions for answering another question indicate that the respondent should consider written,
audio visual and internet media . Freedom House included the latter in the measurement as a
response to criticism of its exclusive focus on traditional media and disregard of digital media
(Burgess, 2010). Freedom House uses a scale of 0 (best score) to 100 (worst score) based on 23
questions and 109 indicators divided in three categories: legal environment (a country may obtain
up to 30 points), political environment (maximum of 40 points) and economic

Argumentative Essay Animal Snoops
Animal Intelligence Argumentative Essay Have you ever heard a parrot repeat what a human has
said. Is this a sign of intelligence or is it mimic. I believe that animals are intelligent. Animals use
their intelligence to find food, a mate, and a home.
I believe this because in the passage Animal Snoops it tells about a parrot named Marshmallow
eavesdropping on some robbers. When listening to the robbers, he learned one of the robbers
nicknames JJ . When the robbers went to leave the bird shouted JJ . The robbers left but then came
back to nab the bird. When they returned, the police was waiting for them. I think this this proves

The language
What is language?
As North Americans living in the early 21st century, we have been educated about language from
the time we entered school. But much of what we learn about language in schools belongs more
to a folk model than to an analytic model of language. Here are several pervasive aspects of our
folk model of language.
Language is a communication system. It is true that we use language to communicate with others.
However, language is much more than a communication system. The most recent thinking about the
nature of language suggests that language is first and foremost a representational system; a system
which provides us with the symbols we need to model for ourselves, to ourselves, inside our heads,
the universe around us. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
not be there not any beer brewed among Estonians There is no beer brewed among the Estonians.
Furthermore, in some languages, like Spanish and Russian, so called double negatives are the rule,
rather than the exception. Note the Spanish and Russian expressions for I don t see anything.
Spanish: Yo no veo nada. I no see nothing
Russian: Ya ne vizhu nichevo.
These are the normal, indeed the only, way of expressing this in Spanish and Russian. If
language worked like formal logic, Spanish and Russian speakers would be suffering from a
permament case of illogic. Since speakers of Spanish and Russian appear to be normal human
beings, we have to conclude that language does not obey the rules of formal logic.
Thus, the rule against double negatives formulated by Bishop Lowth is not a grammar rule, but
rather a social rule having to do with what he considered to be the acceptable use of English.
Language is pure and unchanging. As a conservative society heavily focused on written, rather than
oral, forms of language, we tend to think that change, in language as in many other things, is bad. A
whole industry of language experts such as Edwin Newman and William Safire regularly rant

The Amendment Of The Fourteenth Amendment
On January 31st, 1865, the 13th amendment was passed by congress. This amendment said that no
one, not even those of differing colors, could be held as slaves (with the exception of prisoners). In
short, this amendment freed the black slaves (and other races) of enslavement. Unfortunately
though, the black slaves were never truly free for well over 100 years, as after the passing of the
13th amendment, they were repeatedly persecuted against, most notably in the southern United
States. Furthermore, Mississippi never submitted the required paperwork to ratify the 13th
amendment until February 7th, 2013 (Waldron, Mississippi Officially Abolishes Slavery , 2013).
Fortunately though, slavery would still have been illegal even if Mississippi... Show more content

In states such as South Carolina, the Black Codes were adjusted to prohibit the Black
community from holding any job other than Farmer or Servant ( Black Codes , 2010). Other
states allowed a Black person to be beaten should they fail to sign or renew a Labor Contract (
Black Codes , 2010). Worst of all though, Apprenticeship laws allowed for children to be used as
free labor, mainly for plantation owners ( Black Codes , 2010). Fortunately, those in the Northern
States disapproved of the Black Codes and wanted them to be abolished ( Reconstruction , 2009
/ Black Codes , 2010). The United States Congress agreed with the public and quickly introduced
the Civil Rights Act ( Reconstruction , 2009/ Black Codes , 2010). Despite President Andrew
Johnson vetoing the bill, Congress managed to override the veto and put the bill into law (
Reconstruction , 2009/ Black Codes , 2010). As soon as the bill was officially signed, the US
government took control of the Southern Reconstruction. As a result of the government intervening
in the Reconstruction Era, Southern Blacks were soon elected into government offices, including
Congressional Seats ( Reconstruction , 2009/ Black Codes , 2010). Unfortunately, thanks to the US
Government s involvement in the Reconstruction Era, white supremacist groups were created, most
notably the Ku Klux Klan, or the KKK for short. While it was originally founded in 1866 as a

Gender Socialization In Western Culture
Even before a child is born, we have already labeled that child as either a boy or a girl. Then as
they grow up we subject them to gender socialization, which is the process in which cultures
communicate their expectations about gender to the child (Arnett, 135). I grew up in a small town;
however, it was not like the stereotypical, very conservative, small town that is often portrayed in
movies. My experience in Western culture, which is immensely different than that of other cultures,
is that gendersocialization was prevalent during childhood, but became more relaxed during
adolescents and emerging adulthood. From as far back as I can remember, differential gender
socialization took place during childhood. Parents taught their children that objects such as dolls
and dresses were for girls, while objects like trucks and guns were meant for boys. I remember one
time that my femalecousin came over to visit and we decided that we want to partake in a battle
similar to one the boys conducted when they played. We ended up whipping Legos at each
other, which in hindsight was a very dangerous and painful idea, because the Nerf guns were my
brothers and girls were not allowed to touch them. These differential gender socializations could
continue to be seen in preschool and early grade school years. When allowed free time to play in
preschool, girls played with the kitchen set while boys often played with cars or blocks. If a child
were to attempt to play in the opposite

Akira Kurosawa s The Seven Samurai and John Sturges The Magnificent Seven
The 1954 movie The Seven Samurai, directed by Akira Kurosawa, and its 1960 remake The
Magnificent Seven, directed by John Sturges have many similarities; for example, the plot of both
movies entails farmers hiring mercenaries to help fend off bandits that annually pillage their farms.
The two movies also have differences like the characterization of the bandits in The Magnificent
Seven as opposed to The Seven Samurai.
One of the main similarities between the Seven Samurai and Magnificent Seven is the plot. In both
movies bandits annually pillage a small village and the farmers are left with barely enough food to
survive. In the Magnificent Seven Calvera and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Seven Samurai they come in contact with Katsushiro, a young and inexperienced samurai, and
Kikuchiyo, a samurai who has jumped castes. In Magnificent Seven Chico plays both of these
roles, a young inexperienced gunslinger who used to be a farmer. In both movies the main character
finds an old friend: Shichiroji (SS), Harry (MS), and a quiet, older and tremendously experienced
samurai/gunslinger: Kyuzo (SS), O Reilly (MS).
Once six mercenaries are acquired they set off to the village and Chico/Kikuchiyo follows behind
until the mercenaries decide to let him join. Once the mercenaries arrive, in both movies, all the
farmers are hiding because they think the samurai/gunslingers are just as bad as the bandits and
they hid all their women in fear that they would seduce them. As time progresses though the
farmers begin to trust the samurai/gunslingers and are trained how to fight. Unlike in The Seven
Samurai the bandits in The Magnificent Seven actually talked with the gunslingers and tried to
persuade them to join their group, but to no avail, and the battle was started. The fighting in both
the movies is pretty much the same with little battles occurring over a three day period until the
final battle.
In Magnificent Seven one of the farmers, having doubts about winning, let the bandits in the village

Prejudice In Ron Hall s Same Kind Of Different As Me
All people experience prejudice feelings in their lives no matter who they are, where they live,
or what they have been through. Some people are the source of the prejudice feelings. Others, in
contrast, are the ones who experience the prejudice feelings being thrust upon them for one
reason or another. In Ron Hall s, Same Kind of Different as Me, prejudice is clearly portrayed
throughout the novel in great capacity. As the novel unravels, the prejudice notion is overcome
through different aspects and experiences from the characters. The first apparent trace of
prejudice that is quite evident to the reader is the prejudice that Denver Moore experiences from
Ron Hall. In this situation, Ron Hall produces the prejudice feelings towards Denver Moore
because of different qualities about Denver s life. First and foremost, Ron feels superior to
Denver in many ways because of class. Since Denver is a homeless man, and Ron a successful
businessman, Ron feels as if he does not owe anything to Denver especially his time. Debbie Hall,
Ron s wife, successfully persuades Ron to help out at the homeless shelter after a long period of

The role of motherhood is iconic; with expectations of nurturance and altruistic acts of love which
are difficult to live up to. Charged with giving selflessly and expected to love to the point of
abandoning their own needs; mothers are simultaneously expected to expertly navigate the process
of initially having an intense, all encompassing relationship with their offspring to gradually letting
go and encouraging their child s independent development. While error is expected and

During her illness and death, Michael takes on a nurturing role; caring for her and seeing to it that

Perhaps it was out of an unmet desire for his absent mother, or because he had been secluded, from
all but her presence so early in life, which led to Michael K s having developed an enmeshed
relationship with his mother. Unfortunately, this inhibits his ability to interact with the world on his
own and he appears incapable of communicating the intensity of their bond or to express an
emotional response outside of this relationship. His task is to learn how to separate from his
mother and develop into a separate individual.
Due to his life experiences, Michael is perplexed when his friend says: People must help each

The Spinal Cord Injury ( Sci )
Introduction
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) can result in loss or permanent damage of motor, sensory or autonomic
function, generally caused by physical trauma to the spinal cord. In humans the most common type
of SCI is hemisection or contusion (Nandoe Tewarie et al. 2009). This incomplete injury, leads to
swelling or compression of the spinal cord due to bone displacement, resulting in partial loss of
function and/or sensation. Complete severing of the spinal cord fibres can occur, although less
often, and results in impairment of all function and sensation below the trauma site (Sobani et al.
2010). Due to the complicated physiology of the spinal cord and central nervous system, and their
diminished regenerative properties, currently, there have been no effective forms of treatment of
SCI.
SCI occurs in two stages. The primary stage being the physical injury itself causing damage to the
spinal cord, resulting in bruising, a possible demyelination of axons, cell apoptosis as well as
subsequent hemorrhaging at the injury site (Inukai et al. 2009). The secondary stage involves
exacerbation of the damage via initiation of the body s inflammatory response. Immediately
following injury, pro inflammatory cytokines; interleukin beta (IL ОІ) and tumor necrosis factor
alpha (TNFО±) are released from both neighboring and damaged cells, resulting in an up regulation
of the inflammatory response, resulting in cyst formation. These cysts are left behind post
inflammation and hamper recovery

The American Dream in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
The struggle for financial security and success has always been prominent in the American culture.
The idea of the American dream captures the hearts of so many, yet leaves almost all of them
enslaved in the endless economic struggle to achieve high status, wealth, and a house with a white
picket fence. In Arthur Miller s, Death of a Salesman, we see how difficult it is for Willy Loman
and his sons to achieve this so called American dream. In Lorraine Hansberry s, A Raisin in the
Sun, she examines an African American family s struggle to break out of the poverty that is
preventing them from achieving some sort of financial stability, or in other words the American
dream. Both plays explore the desire for wealth, driving forces that... Show more content on

considering Willy s circumstance, he insists that he is crucial to the company he works for, if
old man Wagner was alive I d a been in charge of New York now (Miller pg. 4) and that he should
be a leader by now rather than simply being an employee. These quotes exemplify the idea that
believing you deserve better than you currently have is a powerful force that encourages the
struggle for the American dream. A final major similarity between the two plays is the fact that
both of the men face prejudice for things that they cannot control. For Walter, a prejudice exists
because of his skin color. He dreams of having the same opportunities as the white men and in
this quote he expresses that to his mother Mama sometimes when I m downtown, I pass them
cool quiet looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking bout
things...sitting there turning deals worth millions of dollars (Hansberry pg. 74). Death of a
Salesman only features white characters, however, a different type of prejudice is shown in the
play. Because Willy is much older now, he doesn t feel like he possess the energy or the capacity
to continue making long trips. When this conclusion leads Willy to be fired, he pleads with

The Argument Of Arts And Culture
Culture is part of our everyday life; it can be anything from sports, food, clothing or even lifestyle.
On the onset, the support of arts and culture should not be limited to the cultural argument alone, as
one cannot deny that arts and culture is important for the growth of society. Apart from the
financial aspect of a society, arts and culture go a long way towards making the society more
holistic.
With this in mind, the author will firstly examine the two different approaches to arts and culture;
namely cultural arguments as opposed to the creative industries or economic arguments. Secondly,
the author will discuss about why arts and culture should live on and be funded, without putting
creative industries approach towards it.

On the other hand, creative industry takes the view of economic boom of creative work such in any
type of industry. Creative industries were defined as those activities which have their origin in
individual creativity, skill and talent and which have the potential for wealth and job creation
through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property (DCMS, 1998) (Quoted from Ozga,
Seddon, Popkewitz, 2006)
As Paul Keating suggests,
This cultural policy is also an economic policy. Culture creates wealth. Broadly defined, our
cultural industries generate 13 billion dollars a year. Culture [employs and] adds value; it makes an
essential contribution to innovation, marketing and design. It is a badge of our industry. The level
of our creativity substantially determines our ability to adapt to new economic imperatives. It is a
valuable export in itself and an essential accompaniment to the export of other commodities. It
attracts tourists and students. It is essential to our economic success. (Paul Keating,

In order to maintain and improve upon current success by increase market share, boosting sales
growth and counteracting the increasing selling and administrative expenses Lowe s has set forth
some aggressive measures. Case in point, according to Lowe s website, the company has opened
130 stores in the 2003 fiscal year alone and has plans to open up 140 and 150 new stores in the
2004 and 2005 fiscal years, respectively (http://www.lowes.com).
According to a company profile produced by Datamonitor, Lowe s is second in the market to
Home Depot, has less sales per square foot than Home Depot, is not considered a to be a low
cost producer when compared to other stores in its class and risks saturating the market (Lowe s
Companies, Inc., 2004). In order to combat these underlying causes of Lowe s problems, Lowe s
will be focusing on various demographic trends (generational considerations), maintaining the
quality of current store locations, opening up new stores, focusing on untapped markets and on
expanding popular yet profitable product lines (Lowe s Companies, Inc., 2004). To further discuss
Lowe s, an analysis of the internal capabilities and an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of
Lowe s has been conducted. In addition, an analysis of the external environment has been taken into
consideration along with a SWOT analysis. Major

Liver Injury Research Paper
Liver plays a central role in transforming and clearing chemicals and is consequently susceptible to
the toxicity induced from these agents. Chemicals that cause liver injury are termed hepatotoxins,
and more than 900 drugs have been implicated in causing liver injury and it is the most common
reason for a drug to be withdrawn from the market. Chemicals often cause subclinical injury to liver
which may be manifest by abnormal liver enzyme tests. Certain medicinal agents when taken in
overdoses and sometimes even when introduced within therapeutic ranges may injure the organ.
Other chemical agents such as those used in laboratories and industries, natural chemicals (e.g.
microcystins) and herbal remedies can also induce hepatotoxicity (e.g. Lycopodiumserratum and
Ephedra equisetina).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approximately 75% of blood reaching the liver arrives directly from gastrointestinal organs and
then spleen through portal veins which bring drugs and xenobiotics in concentrated form.
Numerous mechanisms may be cited to be responsible for either inducing hepatic injury or
worsening the damage process. Although the exact mechanism of hepatic injury remains largely
unknown, it appears to involve 2 pathways direct hepatotoxicity and adverse immune reactions. In
most instances, hepatic injury is initiated by the bioactivation of drugs to chemically reactive
metabolites, which have the ability to interact with cellular macromolecules such as proteins, lipids,
and nucleic acids, leading to protein dysfunction, lipid peroxidation, DNA damage, and oxidative

The answer that is yes, because the company did background checks and references and noted
that Rhonda had already been in four different altercations of assault with customers. In the
broad vision the company knew there might be a possibility of Rhonda attacking a customer
since she is a salesperson. One might assume that in order to sell a product the employee would
come into contact with the customer. Sandley knew there was a chance of an altercation but
still hired and retained Rhonda. In the case Medina v Grahams Cowboy, the court ruled in favor
of damages to the plaintiff because the bar knew of the doorman s reputation and still hired him,
which made the bar negligent ( Medina v. Graham s Cowboys, Inc., 1992). This can also lead
into the second part of what actions did Sandley do once the allegations were made about their
employee and if negligence would fall on the company. If management recorded each incident
and did not reprimand the employees, then that would also be negligence on the company. The
company would know what an employee did and if there was a reprimand to the action. In the
case of Rhonda, the first assault should have ended in her termination effective immediately. For
Martina, who did not have a background of violence the company would not be considered at
fault the first time. However, this goes back to how did management handle the first assault and
why would they keep her in sales. Sandley would be personally responsible for the next two
assault victims because Martina has already struck a customer and now she is a liability that the
company knows about and they would be held for negligence. The last question revolves around
was it Sandley Vacuum s intention or policy that the employees had to follow rules about how to
deal with customers and that such a policy should result in physical contact by

Lady Macbeth Seizing The Daggers Summary
The Henry Fuseli s depiction of Macbeth in the painting Lady Macbeth Seizing the Daggers
portrays him as weak, fearful, and deranged while giving a sympathetic tone. Macbeth looks thin
and fragile. His arms are skeletal. His legs are also skeletal. His eyebrows turn up at the middle. His
eyes are wide giving off the feeling of fear. His mouth is also open wide showing his fear. His eyes
are light compared to the rest of him, which emphasizes how large and wide they are. The eyes are
full of fear, and they are also deranged. His wide eyes also look hypnotized, and stuck. His hair
helps show his mental state. It is going in lots of different ways, and is in disarray. He is not in
control of himself, but he is a wreck and is borderline deranged. His stance is also very revealing.

She has her finger up to her lips in a hushing motion. Her demand to be quiet is displaying her

Time Is Precious
Friends, today I am going to speak on a subject that affects us all, every day, every hour, every
minute and every second. Yes...the subject is Time.
Time is the most precious thing for a man as it comes only once in someone s life and never
stays long. Our life is like a bubble, a short morning dream. Therefore, we should take good care
and make the best use of it. In other words, we must understand the value of time. Time
management is basically planning and dividing one s time in a constructive way.
We all have a number of activities that have to be taken care of in a particular period of time. So
we should be able to plan our activities in such a way that we are able to complete all the work in a
given span of time. A great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But those who forgot the value of time found to their utter dismay that it was harsh on them later.
In other words, successful persons use time in the best possible manner to achieve their goals.
Most of us waste our precious time in unnecessary things such as gossip, roaming aimlessly,
grieving over the past blunders or day dreaming. It must always be kept in mind that, Time and
tide wait for none . Time can be spent wisely or foolishly. The choice is ours and so are its
consequences.
Life is not a bed of roses. Each one of us has to face a number of problems in life. We have to be
bold and courageous enough to face them. Problems are faced by men of courage only. Escapists
always avoid problems. Bad times teach us a lot. They prepare us for a prosperous and glorious
future. When difficult times arrive, they prepare us for a better life. We will then be able to handle
problems with more maturity, stability and courage.
Basically, time and opportunity once lost can never be recovered. The flow of time is ceaseless
and eternal and we all are like small insignificant particles in this endless and continuous flow.
Time is eternal and endless but human life is very limited, finite and short lived. Hence,
successful people make the best use of time in their lives. A work done is time earned. A decision
taken at an appropriate moment can work wonders so we must all learn to strike the iron when it is
hot.
We must make the best

Spider Man Vs Sequels
Sequels vs. Originals: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider Man
Some movies are too good to stop at one measly movie. Sequels have been around for decades
and will not stop anytime soon. Many movies are so profitable and successful, it makes sense to
provide a sequel to the fan base. Sequels usually come after movies that are raved by many.
Sequels are usually better than the original film as demonstrated by Sam Raimi s Spider man trilogy.
A sequel normally follows a film that has already been successful. Sequels normally improve
upon originals but do not always pan out as well. One advantage of sequels is the fan base is
already acquired; this allows the producers to make a film that pleases the fans because they
already know who they are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

movie is one of the more touching films. Peter finally finds the true killer of uncle Ben. He is set
on vengeance for most of the movie; that is not something your friendly neighborhood Spider

middle of the movie is sprinkled with the heartbreaking love story of Peter and Mary Jane. Peter
s best friend is killed in a tragic battle, and Peter confronts his uncle s killer and hears his side of
the story. Peter is heavy laden with all of these problems at once. In a change of events, Peter
forgives this murder because after all, he is human and makes mistakes. This weight lifted off of
his shoulders creates a strong ending to the trilogy.

Persuasive Essay On Cloning A Horse
Ever since the first cloned animal, Dolly the sheep, in 1996 the argument has arose that if cloning
a human is appropriate. Not only is there an argument for human cloning but, in the past couple
years there has been many debates on whether it is right or wrong to clone a horse. Cloning refers
to the process of creating genetically similar organisms or the production of organisms that are
genetically identical through the transfer of somatic cells of an existing organism and transferring
it to an oocyte where the nucleus has been extracted. To clone a horse means using the DNA from
a donor horse to produce a genetically identical foal. Thus, the question is asked why would
someone need to clone a horse? When there is a horse that shows exceptional talent, in particularly
a gelding, cloningallows the horses DNA and look to be accessible in the form of a... Show more

Although the stallion may never need to compete but can serve as a stud and then pass on the
DNA of the original horse. However, there has been many debates on whether cloning is morally
correct or is healthy for the new horse, but equally as important to the equine industry is the
current debate over the fact that cloned horses are not allowed to be registered in the American
Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) database. To some horse owners or buyers registration of a
horse is highly important, because it adds value to a horse and it s important for breeding
purposes. Also registration is important for the use of tracking a horse, wether it is to track the
age of the horse, to gain knowledge of the horse s relatives or their performance history. Although
this all depends on personal preference. If a horse is not registered that does not mean the horse is
worthless or untalented, this just means that the horse can not participate in AQHA horse shows,
which are very prestigious. However, the the opposing sides argument is that by allowing the
clones in the breeding register will

How Did The Transcontinental Railroad Impact Westward...
In 1862 President Abraham Lincoln signed the Pacific Railroad Act into law. The act said that
there were two main railroad lines. The Central Pacific Railroad would come from California and
the Union Pacific Railroad would come from the Midwest. The two railroads would meet
somewhere in the middle. (Ducksters). Seven years later the Transcontinental Railroad is finished
and you can now travel across the country with ease. The Transcontinental Railroad has impacted
positive Westward expansion because The Transcontinental Railroad helped people move west and
create jobs, The Transcontinental Railroad was the cheapest and fastest way to get westward, and
The Transcontinental Railroad set the foundation for moving westward in the United States.
After the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad people started to turn westward but what
would they do when they got west? Well with the construction of the railroad complete people
starting to build cities along the railroads they so they could attract people or because of the gold
rush they could easily transport their gold back east. According to an 11th grade history teacher
The success of a boomtown was completely dependent on whether or not the railroad ran through
the area. (United). According to this quote the boomtowns were built near the railroad and with
these boomtowns coming out of nowhere in the west they are going to be building businesses and
every business needs workers. According to Robert Whaples and U.S.

  • 2. Teotihuacan Culture The culture that I will be talking about is the culture of TeotihuacГЎn from Mexico. Between 100B.C.E and 200 C.E the city grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest cities in Mesoamerica. From my perspective there are different factors that contributed to the growth of TeotihuacГЎn, resources, neighbors, trade, religious matters, and economy. This paper will basically focus on the economy and how it was utilized to form this urban state of TeotihuacГЎn, whether it be the effects of trade and tribute, goods and services, reciprocity, or corruption it all played a role in the uprising of this city. TeotihuacГЎn was developed by different reason but I think that its economy had more influence on its growth and this may explain the development of TeotihuacГЎn.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teotihuacan now experienced a kind of renewal, probably to accommodate the populations growth and to keep people at work. (Kurtz 1997, 337)The raw and finished material entering TeotihuacГЎn and its growing political and economic influence throughout Mesoamerica helped to expand its economy, enlarging markets, increasing jobs, and developing technology. The completion of the Ciudadela suggests a centralized political structure. The completion of the political, religious and market complexes effectively symbolized Teotihuacan s hegemony over a resource zone that extended from coast to coast. (Ronald 1997, 335) The establishments of these areas around public building suggest a centralized political system. Some craftsmen engaged in employment by the elites. This might have been dedicated to the production of exported goods controlled by the elites and would have complemented the work of craftsmen. It could be said that manufacturing expanded during this time, and that obsidian was manufactured and exported beyond the basin. I think that obsidian production was complemented by increase in other work, such as pottery making, painting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fallen Angels In America Fallen Angels in America Tony Kushner s play Angels in America was set in the 1980s, amid Ronald Reagan s administration. Many people believe that this play is political, since we hear a significant amount about Reagan. Additionally, his administration has been largely criticized for its negligence toward the AIDS crisis. Furthermore, numerous LGBT activists have blamed Reagan for overlooking the epidemic since it was thought to be, for the most part, a disease that primarily affected gay men and, perhaps not surprising, African Americans. Although, Tony Kushner s Angels in America primarily focused on the AIDS epidemic in the United States, Kushner masterfully used themes of political, racial, religious, hopelessness and whiteness, to unload the more profound complexities inside the political views of the LGBTQ development... One fascinating association between these two characters is the way they are both attached to the topic of Renditions of Reality. Throughout the play, Prior experienced abnormal dreams while Harper, the Mormon housewife of Joe Pitt, is engaged in discussions with an imaginary friend, Mr. Lies. These two characters exist in another reality that is different from the rest of the cast. For example, in one scene Prior and Harper meet in some sort of weird joint dream. They do not know each other, yet share this odd and intense experience. In this scene, the two characters support each other to understand their essential truths: Harper helps Prior see that even though he feels dejected and hopeless, some part of him is not tainted while Prior reveals to Harper that her husband is a homosexual. Harper clarifies that occasionally you can see things when you are on the threshold of revelation (Kushner 33). This is the space where truths are revealed and secrets are ... • 4. Compare And Contrast Arizona And Virginia Where to live? This is a question many people ask themselves, but narrow it down to two states such as Virginia and Arizona. While on the surface, Arizona and Virginia are beautiful states that most people would love to live in. But both states have their drawbacks from weather to the size of their state and population and politics. In another light they both have quite a few number of benefits such as accessibility and law enforcement. First most, Arizona is known as one of the hottest states with temperatures sometimes reaching 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature has been proven to be able to cook food items such as eggs and cookie dough. In addition to having hot weather, during summer Arizona begins its monsoon season with heavy winds and occasional rain. While this may not be appealing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arizona comes in at 113, 998 mi2 and Virginia pales in comparison by 42,775 mi2. While Virginia is smaller size, the population size comes in at 8.412 million people. Especially due to weather, Arizona only has 6.931 million people residing in the state. Furthermore, agriculturally, Arizona is mainly famous for growing cotton and their 5 C s: cotton, cattle, citrus, cattle, and copper. In contrast, Virginia is widely known for growing tobacco. In addition, both states grow marijuana which rakes in more cash than other cash crops. Equally important, Arizona and Virginia are blessed with access to multiple utilities which are usually taken for granted. They have access to clean water, electricity, internet, cell service, and much more. Also, they have access to modern medical facilities for humans and animals. While they may be similar in accessibility, the median cost of homes differentiates significantly. The median costs of homes in Arizona are about $223,700. This comes to about $142 per square foot. In Virginia, the median cost of homes increases to $299,999 and about $153 per square ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I mentioned in the first self assessment that I feel as though I receive as much credit, recognition, or thanks for everything I have done. I believe that if my superiors either change their leadership style, backed me, provided me with praise, or positive reinforcement every now and then I would not feel as though my various accomplishments are unnoticed. In the 3rd century Christianity was outlawed and public executions such as Saint Lawrence s were made public to spread a message. In the painting Girolamo tried to connect back to classical times by using a oil pain which is dries slow and is flexible therefore allowing him to use Sfumato, which allows the colors to gradually shade into each other, creating a classic look. He also uses a technique that allows the focal point to be on Saint Lawrence by having the crowd look at Saint Lawrence being grilled. In 1575 Paolo Caliari created the paint, Christ and the Centurion in Venezia, Italy. The image depicted shows Christ converting Roman Centurion and shows the symbolism of Christianity to non Jews. Most of the time they are not aware of the full details of the condition and are ill equipped to cater to the requirements of the patient. The two options that people go for are in house care with a private nurse or a dementia care home. Most countries have dementia care centres that specially cater to the condition. • 9. School Of Nursing Analysis Paper School of Nursing Analysis Paper The University of Rochester, School of Nursing was founded in 1928, concurrently with the Strong Memorial Hospital and the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The School of Nursing became an independent school in 1968, partnering nursing with medicine and becoming an organizational model that would influence nursing at a national level. In 1998, declining baccalaureate enrollment and the financial crisis that this caused created new challenges for the School. Competition among area schools fueled changes. The School of Nursing could no longer compete with tuition rates for baccalaureate programs at other schools. Prospective students were choosing schools with lower cost of tuition for nursing programs. The School of Nursing had to quickly figure out how to make their programs marketable. The decision was made to phase out the generic baccalaureate program and restructure the program so that it was geared toward registered nurses. What was born from this restructure was the accelerated program for non nurses and the registered nurse to baccalaureate program (RN to BS). During the 1999 strategic planning process, emphasis was focused on creating nationally recognized areas for research as identified by the Medical Center (Strong Memorial Hospital). To help with this goal, faculty was recruited specifically to enhance the School of Nursing s research and scholarship programs. The School of Nursing s emphasis changed from the student ... One of the significant artists of the Romanticism art period was Frederick Edwin Church, a painter from New York, who portrayed landscapes. One of his remarkable works is his oil, canvas piece, Aurora Borealis, in which he portrays the Northern Lights. Aurora Borealis is an oil, canvas inspired by Dr. Isaac Hayes, Church s friend, who went on an arctic expedition in 1860 and gave his sketches and notes of the landscape view to Church. In recent years, the United States numbers of death sentences are steadily declining from 300 in 1998 to 106 in 2009 ( introduction to the death penalty). Someone may appear normal, but no one can read someone else s mind when it comes to mental health. In Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell Tale Heart, the narrator strives to support his lucidity after murdering the old man under his care. Although he repeatedly claims that he is logical and acts with sagacity, the narrator s noetic process and behaviors indicate he actually is insane. The narrator s lack of reason and auditory hallucinations provide proof of his dementia. To begin with, the narrator s lack of reason for his groundless actions provides evidence for his insanity, contradicting the belief that he is mentally stable. The narrator had no rational reason to murder the old man. For example, the narrator stated Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult (p 1). Therefore, the old man had never done anything to harm the narrator, nor had he ever wronged him in any way. The only reason the narrator killed the old man was because he was deranged in multiple ways; one of his significant reasons however, was because he felt the old man s eye was threatening. Moreover, he says Whenever it [the eye] fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the ... • 17. Exegesis Of Psalm 23 Exegesis on Psalm 23 Introduction: The 23rd Psalm is arguably the most infamous and popular psalms among people in the western world. With 1/3 of the worlds population identifying with an Abrahamic faith (Christian, Jews or Muslin), the psalms play a vital role in the emotions towards God and about God to the believer. This psalm is neither intermingled with prayers, nor does it complain of miseries for the purpose of obtaining relief; but it contains simply a thanksgiving, from which it appears that it was composed when David had obtained peaceable possession of the kingdom, and lived in prosperity, and in the enjoyment of all he could desire. That he might not, therefore, in the time of his great prosperity, be like worldly men, who, when they seem to themselves to be fortunate, God in forgetfulness, and luxuriously plunge themselves into their pleasures, he delights himself in God, the author of all the blessings which he enjoyed. And he not only acknowledges that the state of tranquility in which he now lives, and his exemption from all inconveniences and troubles, is owing to the goodness of God; but he also trusts that through his providence he will continue happy even to the close of his life, and for this end that he may employ himself in his pure worship. Spencer s Theory Of Social Darwinism Social Darwinism came to popularity in 1859 when Charles Darwin, a British naturalist, published his book called On the Origin of Species about his theory of Darwinism . This theory was very popular between the years 1870 1890; it spanned until the early 1900s (around 1910). Social Darwinism is any conviction or hypothesis that endeavors to clarify human culture as far as regular determination specifies the hypothesis that people, ethnic gatherings, and so on make progress or predominance as a result of inborn hereditary prevalence and a resultant upper hand. The hypothesis of Social Darwinismsaid that the people who were feeble were getting smaller in quantity as the more solid people developed in power. Herbert Spencer, a British philosopher and sociologist, acquired Darwin s theory of evolutionand twisted the idea around to make his idea of survival of the fittest connect with Darwin s theory. According to Dr. Palmer on page 117 she states, that it has been estimated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that almost 300,000 Americans have contracted HCV prior to the advent of screening of donated blood and blood product for HIV. Today, the incidence of obtaining this virus by receiving a blood transfusion is approximately 1 in 200,000 units of blood donors. In essence, the likelihood of contacting HCV from blood transfusion has been minuscule since 1992. The reason that this small risk still exists is that when a person initially becomes infected with HCV for a short period of time, known as the window period, the HCV antibody is not detectable in the blood. If this person donates blood during the window period, her blood will carry HCV, but it will not be detectable. Dr..Palmer recommends anyone who received a blood transfusion prior to 1992 be tested for HCV. According to Cohen and Gish the HCV virus can live outside the body for three to four hours and is not easily killed with chlorine bleach. Therefore, other means of transmission are shared personal grooming items such as razors, toothbrushes, scissors and manicuring equipment, which may carry blood residue. Lastly is unprotected sex. Throughout the 20th Century the Canadian government has set targets for the number of immigrant entries based upon economic criteria. Periods of encouragement have included the early decades of this century along with the reconstruction era of Post World War II. The 30s, 40s and the recession of the early 80s have been periods during which the national government has discouraged immigration. At times, economic concerns have given way to humanitarian ones such as during the Soviet invasions of Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and during the Vietnamese refugee crisis of the 70s. Generally, however, Canadian immigration targets have reflected the rate of economic expansion and employment. An exception to this rule was during the latter part of the 1980s. Worry over the declining fertility rate and our ageing population led the federal government to raise its annual targets despite high unemployment. Most recently, under economic pressures, the most recent Liberal government once again lowered the immigration level. The Geography of Immigration There have also been attempts at controlling the geography of immigrant settlement. The Federal government stated that one of the primary goals of immigration is to, foster the development of a strong and viable economy and the prosperity of all regions in Canada. Indeed, one of the instruments developed by Freedom House in order to spread its mission is the s press freedom index, which has not changed practically at all since its creation in 1980. Due to this methodological continuity for over three decades, this index is amply used and quoted within and outside academia (Becker et al., 2007; Holtz Bacha, 2004; Behmer, 2011). Language is a communication system. It is true that we use language to communicate with others. However, language is much more than a communication system. Then as they grow up we subject them to gender socialization, which is the process in which cultures communicate their expectations about gender to the child (Arnett, 135). I grew up in a small town; however, it was not like the stereotypical, very conservative, small town that is often portrayed in movies. My experience in Western culture, which is immensely different than that of other cultures, is that gendersocialization was prevalent during childhood, but became more relaxed during adolescents and emerging adulthood. From as far back as I can remember, differential gender socialization took place during childhood. Parents taught their children that objects such as dolls and dresses were for girls, while objects like trucks and guns were meant for boys. I remember one time that my femalecousin came over to visit and we decided that we want to partake in a battle similar to one the boys conducted when they played. We ended up whipping Legos at each other, which in hindsight was a very dangerous and painful idea, because the Nerf guns were my brothers and girls were not allowed to touch them. These differential gender socializations could continue to be seen in preschool and early grade school years. Perhaps it was out of an unmet desire for his absent mother, or because he had been secluded, from all but her presence so early in life, which led to Michael K s having developed an enmeshed relationship with his mother. Unfortunately, this inhibits his ability to interact with the world on his own and he appears incapable of communicating the intensity of their bond or to express an emotional response outside of this relationship. His task is to learn how to separate from his mother and develop into a separate individual. Due to his life experiences, Michael is perplexed when his friend says: People must help each other, that s what I believe (Coetzee 48). • 39. The Spinal Cord Injury ( Sci ) Introduction Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) can result in loss or permanent damage of motor, sensory or autonomic function, generally caused by physical trauma to the spinal cord. In humans the most common type of SCI is hemisection or contusion (Nandoe Tewarie et al. 2009). This incomplete injury, leads to swelling or compression of the spinal cord due to bone displacement, resulting in partial loss of function and/or sensation. Complete severing of the spinal cord fibres can occur, although less often, and results in impairment of all function and sensation below the trauma site (Sobani et al. 2010). Due to the complicated physiology of the spinal cord and central nervous system, and their diminished regenerative properties, currently, there have been no effective forms of treatment of SCI. SCI occurs in two stages. The primary stage being the physical injury itself causing damage to the spinal cord, resulting in bruising, a possible demyelination of axons, cell apoptosis as well as subsequent hemorrhaging at the injury site (Inukai et al. 2009). The secondary stage involves exacerbation of the damage via initiation of the body s inflammatory response. Immediately following injury, pro inflammatory cytokines; interleukin beta (IL ОІ) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFО±) are released from both neighboring and damaged cells, resulting in an up regulation of the inflammatory response, resulting in cyst formation. These cysts are left behind post inflammation and hamper recovery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. The American Dream in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller The struggle for financial security and success has always been prominent in the American culture. The idea of the American dream captures the hearts of so many, yet leaves almost all of them enslaved in the endless economic struggle to achieve high status, wealth, and a house with a white picket fence. In Arthur Miller s, Death of a Salesman, we see how difficult it is for Willy Loman and his sons to achieve this so called American dream. In Lorraine Hansberry s, A Raisin in the Sun, she examines an African American family s struggle to break out of the poverty that is preventing them from achieving some sort of financial stability, or in other words the American dream. When considering Willy s circumstance, he insists that he is crucial to the company he works for, if old man Wagner was alive I d a been in charge of New York now (Miller pg. 4) and that he should be a leader by now rather than simply being an employee. These quotes exemplify the idea that believing you deserve better than you currently have is a powerful force that encourages the struggle for the American dream. A final major similarity between the two plays is the fact that both of the men face prejudice for things that they cannot control. For Walter, a prejudice exists because of his skin color. He dreams of having the same opportunities as the white men and in this quote he expresses that to his mother Mama sometimes when I m downtown, I pass them cool quiet looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking bout things...sitting there turning deals worth millions of dollars (Hansberry pg. 74). Death of a Salesman only features white characters, however, a different type of prejudice is shown in the play. In the broad vision the company knew there might be a possibility of Rhonda attacking a customer since she is a salesperson. One might assume that in order to sell a product the employee would come into contact with the customer. Sandley knew there was a chance of an altercation but still hired and retained Rhonda. In the case Medina v Grahams Cowboy, the court ruled in favor of damages to the plaintiff because the bar knew of the doorman s reputation and still hired him, which made the bar negligent ( Medina v. Graham s Cowboys, Inc., 1992). This can also lead into the second part of what actions did Sandley do once the allegations were made about their employee and if negligence would fall on the company. If management recorded each incident and did not reprimand the employees, then that would also be negligence on the company. The company would know what an employee did and if there was a reprimand to the action. In the case of Rhonda, the first assault should have ended in her termination effective immediately. For Martina, who did not have a background of violence the company would not be considered at fault the first time. However, this goes back to how did management handle the first assault and why would they keep her in sales. Sandley would be personally responsible for the next two assault victims because Martina has already struck a customer and now she is a liability that the company knows about and they would be held for negligence.
