Robots Vs Robots
With space travel being a topic much looked at since the middle of the 20th century, it is only
inevitable that man has already entered space and taken that step into space travel. However, even
though man has done so before, it does not necessarily man should continue to do what can be done
by the technological advantages of this age; robots. Having the ability to send exclusively robotic
missions into space provides many advantages that a human accompanied mission could not also have
claim to, one obvious variation being in the safety of a robotic mission versus a manned mission.
Humans are fragile when it comes to being put into environments other than their own (Colwell Britt,
n.d.) and there are a lot of physical health setbacks. When in zero g in space, human bodies face many
changes such as a sudden height increase, and even face a weakening of the bones that can later lead
to bones breaking much easier from even small accidents ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001). Humans
also face the risk of being exposed to radiation when there is no atmosphere surrounding them to
protect them ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001) and the temperatures of different planets and elements
of space make it nearly impossible for a human to be able to travel to certain places (Colwell Britt,
n.d). Robots, however, do not face this kind of setback and are much more tolerant to the environment
outside of earth s atmosphere. Human lives are also at risk when in space, and can be lost very quickly

Controversy Over Vegetarianism
Vegetarianism is not merely a present day fashion. Human beings from
diverse cultures have practiced it since olden times. Having a vegetarian diet has been
a topic that creates conflicting opinions, and it seems that the controversy gets bigger
as time moves on. In the times that we are living in today, where we are persistently
bombarded with information through the television and Internet, it makes it hard to know
who is right and who is wrong on this issue. Embracing vegetarianism provides the
optimum benefit as it keeps a person fit as a fiddle, with the added benefits of being
human and not disturbing the law of nature. So many Americans in many instances are
caught up with discovering the perfect diet. While such a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

USDA includes meat as part of a balanced diet, but it also states that a
vegetarian diet can meet the recommended dietary allowances for
nutrients. Many proponents of vegetarianism say that eating meat harms
health, wastes resources, causes deforestation, and creates pollution.
They often argue that killing animals for food is cruel and unethical since
non animal food sources are plentiful. Many opponents of a vegetarian
diet say that meat consumption is healthful and humane, and that
producing vegetables causes many of the same environmental problems
as producing meat. They also argue that humans have been eating and
enjoying meat for 2.3 million years. In Western culture, vegetarianism
dates back to Ancient Greece. The mathematician Pythagoras (570 BC
495 BC) advocated vegetarianism; a meatless diet was commonly called
the Pythagorean diet until the term vegetarian became popular during
the 1800s. The philosopher Plato (428 BC 348 BC) described a
vegetarian diet as divinely ordained ( Should People ).
The major reason I think more people are opting to become vegetarians is to reduce

Non-Cell Autonomous Tumor Supression by p53
Non Cell Autonomous Tumor Suppression by p53
Introduction and significance for the entire manuscript (Guide: approx one quarter page/150 words).
The p53 is a vital tumour suppressor protein in humans which is important for cell cycle regulation.
Ablation of the p53 protein causes the cell to proliferate infinitely that contributes to the development
of tumours. Through the cell autonomous program the cell cycle arrest and apoptosis is caused by the
presence of p53. The aim of the journal is to study cellular senescence program in hepatic stellate cells
that is p53 dependent which is formed by dying hepatocytes which secret factors that influence the
tissue microenvironment, preventing fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer via promoting p53 senescent
in these HSCs. The research objectives explain that fibrosis is limited through the p53 mediated
senescence program by stopping HSC proliferation through cell autonomous canonical senescence
regulators and the non cell autonomous effects of SASP on ECM and immune surveillance. Currently
there is a debate on the role p53 plays in HSCs which influences later stages of liver cancer and the
research exhibits that through non cell autonomous mechanisms, p53 can inhibit cancer by
manipulating the tissue microenvironment.
Key Figure (Guide: approx one half page/400 words).

How Does The Coffee Trade Affect The Economy
Coffee is certainly not a drink. It is a global commodity. The coffee industry hires many people around
the world for its growing, processing, and trading. The coffee trade is vital in economies in less
developed countries and in more developed countries. Every single way the coffee trade works in is
vital to economies; from farmers, to consumers. Therefore many people attempt to make the coffee
trade fairer to its people. From these people, many of their attempts do not suffice. The global coffee
trade affects everyone in it and even outside of it. The coffee trade created jobs for people to farm
coffee. These coffee farmers now have jobs that add on to the economy. This helps people especially
in less developed countries and their economies. These farmers are not being paid a lot, specifically if
they are in a less developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These roasters then roast the coffee beans and then bring them to the consumers. They are being paid
much more than what farmers are being paid. Farmers are the reason why the rest of the trade makes
so much money. They are being so underpaid that people have to make organizations to make sure that
farmers are paid better than they were. This is to make sure that farmers have money in their
economies and are able to school their children. Organizations such as FairTrade make sure that
farmers get paid more money than they used to. This is so they could afford drinking water, education,
food, and such. This is so they can afford to just live better. Although this seems like the perfect plan,
it does also fail sometimes. Organizations such as FairTrade cannot get everyone to buy into it.
Starbucks only uses FairTrade espresso beans for their espresso coffee. FairTrade coffee is more
expensive since more money is put into the farmer s hands. However, there have been claims that the
farmers are not actually being paid as

Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Works Cited Not Included
Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is a story that brings one to question the
code of honor that exists in the
Columbian town. Marquez paints a picture that shows how societal values, such as honor, have
become more important than the inherent good of human life. The Vicario brothers belief that their
sister was done wrong was brought upon by this honor, along with racial and social tension. The
dangerous path of both honor and religious faith caused Santiago s untimely death.
Before God and before men, Pablo Vicario said. It was a matter of honor (Marquez 56). In the town
honor is taken very seriously and

Angela simply named
Santiago Nasar as her lover but there was no other evidence besides her word to back that statement
up. The narrator explained that most of those who could have done something to prevent the crime
and did not console themselves with the pretext that affairs of honor are sacred monopolies, giving
access only to those who are part of the drama (114). If the medieval idea that death brings honor is
true, then it is safe to say Santiago Nasar died without honor for he did not know the reason for his
death was.
The Vicarios were poor Hispanics and the Nasars were rich Arabs, so social and racial tension was
clear. In the town though, honor is not defined by race or color. The Vicario brothers are cousins to
Santiago, yet when Santiago died the Arab families were perplexed and sadâ?¦but none harbored the
ideas of vengeance (94). After they killed
Santiago, the brothers went to the parish house, not for repentance, but because they would be safe
from the Arabs (91) and were comforted by the honor of having done their duty, and the only thing
that worried them was the persistence of the smell [of death] (91).
Before their release, their mother Pura asked Father Amador to confess her sons in jail, but Pedro
Vicario refused, and convinced his brother that they had nothing to repent (95). That scene gives the
reader a picture of how the twins viewed the killing as being above their religion,

Goblin Market Social Code Essay
The Victorian Era was an era where the British history was under Queen Victoria s reign for sixty four
years. The people whom were under Queen Victoria s ruling were called the Victorians. The Queen
Victoria was a huge influence on the way the Victorians sense was on the morality and immortality of
their lives. Since era is known as the era of peace, prosperity, and appreciation for what was given to
them but it included self confidence very much in everything occurred in this era. The Victorian Era

It also is a way to protect them from sins and temptation that lives upon them. The goblins only want

until it killed them. In the story it said No , said Lizzie: No, no, no; Their offers should not charm us,
Their evil gifts would harm us. As in the fruit are the sins and activities that are against their morals
and they are trying so hard to not give into temptation. This poem shows how huge they were to get
their message across that breaking their morals could have consequences

Entertainment Media Influence On American Culture
Influence Of Entertainment Media I believe entertainment media does have an influence on our
culture simply because, it s all around us through the radio, television, newspaper, and Internet etc.
Throughout listening to the radio, watching the television, reading the newspaper and surfing the
Internet this activity holds the attention and interest of us or gives us pleasure and delight. Once we
become so engaged and involved in what we are watching, hearing or even reading we believe and we
tend to sometimes take on the form of what we are engaged into. This alone could be one of the
reasons why it allows American culture to change their values and morals and tend to look at life
differently. The word entertainment is basically what it says when we speak of entertainment media
we are speaking on something that amuses us and keep our attention and most importantly it
influences our ways of thinking and how we perceive different situations in life. For instance, if you
are watching a movie that contains violence and killing it does not necessarily mean you will act out
violence and killing. But there are individuals who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

example of a positive affect on social media. Through Facebook we can generally use it to keep our

popular during the time of Hurricane Katrina. During that time of devastation we were not able to
communicate through telephone services, cell phone service, and beepers because all communication
services were down. And at that time if you had access to a computer with Internet services we were
able to communicate, post pictures and videos of each other by using the Facebook website. This is

Comparing The Fall Of The House Of Usher And Ligeia
The Fall of the House of Usher, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, and Ligeia, there was an affinity
between the many characters of each one of the stories. There were also many other analogies in the
books so far as a situation, plot, setting, etc. In the story The Murders of the Rue Morgue, which is a
very mysterious story, the main action commences when the narrator and another man named C.
Auguste Dupin meet together because they are seeking for the same book at an ambiguous library in
Rue Montmartre. The two men read about a murder in a newspaper headline, then one night they re
staying at a hotel and hear a shriek from about the fourth floor above them in which they call the cops
in backlash to that. Once the cops had broken into the apartment, for the door was locked, they found
what seemed to be a murder scene for all of the blood and the hair on the floor.
The police officers and the other two men react to the scene of what seems to be death by acting
concerned about finding what had happened and who it had happened to and who committed the
crime. In the story The Fall of the House of Usher it all starts with the character under the name
Roderick approaching a house which seems to be described as an evil feeling, for it is in a type of a

fairly unexpectedly for most reactions to death that are seen in the modern day. Edgar Allan Poe s

Military Revolution Tactics
The Military Revolution was around the seventeenth century, it was an enlarging role in European
affairs. There was multiple things that changed drastically around the seventeenth century that had to
do with the growth of the military expansion, and tactics to improve the country s ability to fight. A
main reason that was said to cause the Military Revolution, said by the historians, was warfare. Also,
power was a major part that had to do with it. The different techniques that were processed in a short
period of time were the start of the Military Revolution. As a matter of fact, someone that changed the
war tactics in an increasing way was Gustavus Adolphus, which was the king of Sweden. Gustavus
army began something called the salvo which was really different from the way they used to fight,
which was the infantry fired row by row. The salvo was that the rows would fire all at once, so that
caused the opposing squadrons to die in massive amounts. The routine he did was that after shooting
the rivals with his pistol volley, they would then jab the enemies with their blades. Also, they started to
use lightweight fighting equipment to make it easily possible to move, and started to train more, to
start developing better disciplinary actions. Gustavus fighting ... Show more content on

and well educated to improve the way that they learned their fighting tactics. That had an effect on the
government and had to change it to something that would fit it since military routines were

No rotation unless bond is broken. Each carbon atom of the C=C bond has two different
substituents attached to it.  A cis isomer has two higher Mr groups on the same side of the C=C
bond.  A trans isomer has two higher Mr groups on the opposite sides of the C=C bond. 
Comment: Many students mistakenly think that the reason why there is no free rotation of the C=C
bond is because of the strong bond. If that is the case, then why is there free rotation of the C C
bond when the  bond is even stronger than the  bond? The correct explanation should be: There is
no free rotation of the C=C bond because of the bond. For a bond to be formed, the p orbitals
must be properly aligned. Free rotation about the C=C bond is equivalent to breaking the bond and
misaligning the p orbitals.  Comment: Geometrical isomerism is NOT POSSIBLE if one of the
carbon atoms in the C=C bond is bonded to two identical substituents. Less common examples: a)

Southwest Colonies Vs New England Colonies
The aspects of religion and economics differed greatly between Southwest and New England colonies.
Each colony had different religious backgrounds and different ways of making money and sustaining a
stable economy. This was because of the different religious views the held by the settlers or the
economic strengths and weaknesses including the geographical region. The religious views of the
Southwest Colonies and New England colonies hugely contrasted. The dominant religion in Spain at
the time was Catholicism. Catholicism gave the Spaniards a common identity and allowed them to

Spanish went over to spread Catholicism. The Franciscans and

Genghis Khan And The Mongols
Mongol DBQ
Allysa:
Genghis khan used excessive brutality, hatred, destruction, and mass slaughtering of civilians, for his
conquest, and is therefore guilty. Genghis khan used brutal tactics to intimidate and enforce his will on
those he conquered. He promoted hatred of non mongols to foster destruction by his army. Genghis
Khan was guilty of mass slaughters of civilians because it has been recorded that Khan has caused the
deaths of over 40,000,000 people.
LOGAN:
The Mongols have been proven to have used excessively brutal tactics during conquests. In some
instances Khan s army provided excessive force to conquer said areas. Damon states that certain
techniques such as hails of bows were used in greater force and in greater numbers than ever seen in
history before when in battle (doc 2). Thus proving how the Mongols used excessively brutal tactics
while in war with cities that could not defend themselves to such power. In other areas like Russia, the
Mongols were recorded to have captured women, men, and children, killed them with swords, and or
bound and disemboweled them (doc 2). The unnecessary disembowelment of these victims
furthermore supports the claim that the Mongols used excessively brutal tactics, do to that being
uncalled for. Also, the victims chosen furthers the assertion that it was excessive and brutal because
they were innocent children and citizens. Lastly, some battle tactics the Mongols used included not
leaving off fighting by day or night (doc 3).

CLA Supplement
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) has been confirmed to accelerate weight loss and reduce body fat in
obese people. Studies have shown that CLA can end up in the fight against cancer, reduce body fat,

disease, increase bone density increases insulin sensitivity and stimulates immunity. It is easy to see
how CLA can be considered a miracle supplement.
However, it is wise to watch in disbelief requirements, and research is much less compelling than the

using fat as fuel, rather than destroy muscle protein for fuel. Since the body is always breaking down

Some of the issues with this type of tax are whether it should be per use, per month or per year.
Another issue involved with this tax is how it would be implemented and whether there would be
extra fees related to the type of connection. For example, would the fee be changed based on a DSL
vs. a regular modem connection? (Internet Taxation). The second type of tax involves intangible goods
or downloads such as: emails, software, music etcetera. Obviously, this tax would involve all those
that access this type of material. The administration of such a tax again poses a problem, for example,
how should international emails be handled or an international user who download software from an
American company web site. The final type of tax that could be levied is a sales tax. Although it
would only affect those who purchase items on line, it would have potential to be an enormous source
of revenue. Currently, the sales tax is the largest revenue source for federal, state and local
governments. (Internet Taxation) In 2003, online retail was estimated at 68.4 (epaynews) billion
dollars, all of which would be taxable and would increase the federal state and local tax revenues.
Again, administration and division of revenue cause a problem, but there is also the problem of
classification of the product. This is a problem because it is only subject to sales tax if it is classified
as a good. As seen, there are many different types of Internet taxation to be

Hamstring Cramps
Your hamstrings are muscle group located on the rear of each upper thigh. It s common to experience
tight, strained or cramped hamstrings, which can occur for several reasons. Upon dealing with
hamstring cramps, take steps to prevent them from occurring again. Before trying any new exercise or
treatment, talk to your doctor and have your condition properly diagnosed.
Muscle Fatigue
Hamstring cramps are common among people who are unconditioned and those who participate in
seasonal intense sports, reports the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. During strenuous
bouts of exercise, your hamstring muscles can fatigue and cramp due to the muscles not getting
enough oxygen. When they lack oxygen, your hamstring muscles will contract and spasm
involuntarily. Thorough stretching, and then starting out slowly and gradually working up to a more
intense level of exercise, can help avoid these types of cramps.

People who are sedentary can find their hamstring muscles feel tight or hard. Hamstring cramps due to
tight muscles can happen when you are active, sitting or lying down. A daily program of general
stretching or a program geared to your sport can often help you prevent hamstring cramps. It is
equally important to properly warm up before and cool down after any activity.
Heat and Humidity
Exercising in hot, humid conditions can lead to hamstring cramps. When your body loses too much
fluid through excessive sweating, you can also develop an electrolyte imbalance. Substances such as
calcium, potassium and others are necessary to help your muscles contract properly. If your body is
low in any of these substances either through a poor diet or dehydration your muscles can
involuntarily contract and spasm. Drinking enough water and eating healthily before and after exercise
can help resolve these kinds of cramps.

What Are the Arguments for and Against the Idea That the...
The world is ever changing and has been that way even before humans dominated Earth. However,
what we are interested in for this topic is in the last few decades where globalization has had an
impact in the early 21st century, making the world flat . The phrase that the world has become flat is a
metaphor for viewing the world level in terms of commerce and competition, meaning a level playing
field where everyone has an equal opportunity. However, opinions are divided on how much
globalization has actually impacted the world as a whole. Critics argue that Friedman s term flat is
grossly exaggerated as his view is from an American perspective. This paper investigates major
arguments for both sides.

of Eastern Europe, Latin America and Central Asia, began to open up their economies to the world.

Madoff Fraud Research Paper
The overall problem is trust. Humans are naturally bias and judgmental and this is where the problem
begins. People tend to trust a person more if they are educated, drive a nice car, and are well groomed,
over a person who looks average. The ponzi scheme, that everyone has learned to hate, used image
and wealth to get over on business corporations, large and small investors, and regular people. Ponzi
schemes uses appearance and finesse to get investors to continually reinvest their money with no
return. Usually the head of the ponzi scheme is someone trust worthy like Madoff. Much of the reason
why Madoff fraud went so long unchecked likely had to do with his respectability and reputation for
being a market genius (511). Once again, trust

The Involvement Of Psychologists And The American...
In my analysis paper I will be discussing the issues in the involvement of psychologists in
interrogations. Many of the current issues resort to an ethical or unethical question in regards of the
American Psychological Association s Code of Conduct. Are the practices of using inhumane
techniques to gain enemy intelligence ethical or unethical? The use of psychologists in military
interrogations has led to crossing the lines of being inhumane, which is against the Code of Conduct.
This has been explained in many incidents in today s interrogations against foreign enemies and
detainees. The current controversy of this issue is not only a debate psychologically, but this also
involves the government and politics surrounding the issue. There ... Show more content on

You further begin using techniques that are against your ethics to yield the enemy of hiding
information. How would you feel? What would you do? Let the enemy contain his intelligence, or
interrogate against your ethics, using techniques that are well known for accomplishing your tasks?
Psychologists have been involved in military interrogations for an extended time. Psychologists have
been used in many different ways in the military, such as questioning detainees, enemy combatants,
and even our own military members to decide whether they would fit into certain career fields. The
current debate on psychologists involved with military interrogations is focused on whether this
activity is violating codes. Many people are arguing the fact that these interrogations can be abusive
towards detainees and unethical while a vast selection of people also agree that many psychologists
stay within their code and regulations and maintain a safe approach. Psychologists have a fine line
when it comes to breaking the guidelines and staying in them. There are many different issues to bring
up on this topic and I will be discussing both point of views related to military interrogations.
In the current issue of the involvement of psychologists in military interrogations there is a conflict in
taking a side of either being ethical or unethical. Prominent members of the American Psychological
Association (APA) have denounced such practices unethical. In the APA s Code of

Analysis Of Sleuthing The Alamo
While the Texas Revolution began as colonists in the Mexican province of Texas rebelled against the
Mexican authority for political and economic reasons, many historians believed that there was a racial
and cultural factor in the conflict. Historians such as Eugene C. Barker, a prominent history professor
and an expert in Texas history, based his argument of a racial war on Sam Houston s speech to the
Texas volunteer army at Refugio. In his book, Sleuthing The Alamo, James Crisp comes to Sam
Houston s defense and disproves Barker s argument by taking a closer look at the speech and the
details associated with it. For many years, Sam Houston s speech at Refugio was closely associated as
being racial and prejudice towards the Tejanos. As Crisp put it straightforwardly the words of the
speech were harsh. They accused the Tejanos, the Mexicans living in Texas, of aiding the enemy in
great numbers. Additionally, San Houston referred to the Tejanos as half Indians and emphasized the
superiority of the white man by saying nor will the vigor of the descendants of the sturdy north ever
mix with the phlegm of the indolent Mexicans, no matter how long we may live among them. Houston
s discriminatory language against the Mexicans, as well as, the negative manner in which he portrayed
the Indians stunned Crisp. Crisp declared the words seemed so unlike Houston and given his long and
friendly relationships with Native Americans, how could Houston revile Mexicans by calling them
half Indians? Those questions compelled Crisp to search and investigate much deeper. Firstly, he
discovered that the Texas revolt was a much more complicated event than a race war. According to
Crisp, the conflict arose over the fundamental differences between the white colonists of Texas, rather
than a cultural conflict. Differences such as disagreements over states rights, excessively high tariffs
and a dictatorial type of Mexican Government were some of the reasons that forced the white
colonists of Texas to break away from the Mexican rule. Crisp believed, that conflict between the two
groups was not so much an immediate cause as it was an eventual consequence of Texas s separation
from Mexico. In other words, the racial

Law Binding Contract
Task A Issue The main issue that needs to be addressed here is whether there is binding contract
between the two parties, Baldcure Ltd. and Gary Knudenut, and consequently whether Gary can sue
under that contract. Rule A contract is a legally enforceable agreement between two or more parties.
To be valid, a contract must comprise of the following elements: agreement (offer + acceptance)
intention consideration capacity to contract consent legality In order to establish whether there is a
binding contract between Gary and Baldcure we need to consider the existence of these elements. One
of the essential prerequisites of a contract (bilateral or unilateral) is agreement. Agreement ... Show

Sub Issue 3 The issue that need to be considered further is whether there is an intention to create a
legal relationship between Gary and Baldcure Ltd. Rule: In general, intention exists where can be
demonstrated that there is an agreement. The law in this area requires an evidence of implied intention
of the both parties to be bind by an agreement. (Pentony, 2003, p 57). Two presumptions need to be
considered: parties in commercial relationship intend to create a legally binding contract parties in
domestic or social relationship do not intend to create a legally binding agreement Balfour v Balfour
(1919) 2 KB 571. Application: If we apply the law to the facts, the two parties, Gary and Baldcure
have genuine consent to be in a commercial relationship. Conclusion: To conclude, there is a
commercial relationship between Gary and Baldcure Ltd and therefore applies the presumption that
they intended to enter into a binding agreement. Sub Issue 4 The next issue is the existence of
consideration by Gary and Baldcure Ltd. Rules Consideration is defined as an act of forbearance, or

Personal Narrative-Defining Me
When I was young, I was naive, and also pretty arrogant, as was everyone I presume. But, on the other
hand, I also had two sides to define me: the first was this quiet, curious, and almost peculiar being
who was engaged and would absorb everything (quite literally too.) The other being this reckless, yet
selfless child who cared about others well being more than his own. For as long as I can remember, I
ve always been this way. Good or bad, that s me. Unlike most children my age, instead of playing
outside with friends in the neighborhood, I d be inside or alone in solitude with my thoughts. I ve
actually come to enjoy my own company a lot, there s plenty of positives that come with it: no

I was left in a trance, dazed by what he was saying. And so, we talked until sunrise about those various
topics and then some. It was perplexing; before that night of endless learning, I had been so numb,
arrogant, and naive. When I arose the next morning, I had a completely different mindset than before.
I had wanted to know more about space, the stars, formation of planets and our galaxy; our very
universe. I wanted to get to the bottom of it and solve all of the mysteries I had burrowed within. I
have never been interested in the stereotypical ideas of a career; I didn t want to be a soccer player, nor
did I want to become a firefighter, what I wanted was to become a scientist in hopes of studying space
more. Not knowing what that career was called until a few years ago, I had continued on with my life,
only talking about that topic in detail with my older brother. As for my cousin, he s probably
completely oblivious as to what he s done for me in my life. That night is one I will never forget. It
became apparent that, while as young as I was, I would never be able to look at life the same

American Revolution Loyalists
Only a tiny fraction of the books written on the American Revolution are devoted to the loyalists the
residents of the 13 colonies who chose to leave their homes rather than become citizens of the new
republic. Such a nation bound approach to the writing of American history implies that the lives of
those who left were not significant. Yet they were, and Maya Jasanoff, who teaches history at Harvard,
has provided a richly informative account of those who made the choice to embrace imperial Britain.
As earlier historians of the Revolution have pointed out, the loyalists tended to have strong
connections to the imperial administration, belong to the Anglican Church and possess close business
or family ties to Britain. But not all who left fitted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the end of the Paris peace negotiations that ended the war, a small but important amendment was
added to the resulting treaty that prohibited the British from carrying away any Negroes, or other
property. When he became aware of this proviso, Sir Guy Carleton, the commander of British forces
in North America, acted. Charged with the task of evacuating 20,000 troops and 35,000 loyalists from
New York, he made securing the freedom of the black loyalists a priority. He expedited the provision
of documents establishing their freedom and hurried them onto a fleet of ships headed for Nova
Scotia. The speed of this sequence of events infuriated George Washington. But Carleton responded
that it was a matter of honor. The Negroes in question, he explained, I found free when I arrived in
New York, I had therefore no right . . . to prevent their going to any part of the world they thought
proper. Earlier, when Lord Dunmore, the colonial governor of Virginia, promised freedom to
bondsmen who joined the British forces, as many as 20,000 including slaves belonging to Washington,
Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry made the risky decision to escape. Jasanoff refers to this as an
emancipation, though she might better have described it as a slave revolt, larger than any the Americas

What Is The Importance Of The Home Front During Ww1
The home front during World War 1 covers domestic, economic, social and political histories of the
countries involved in the War. However, the economy was of particular importance because it effected
civilians as well as the military. This war was a war of totality in which total war demanded total
mobilization of all the nations resources in order to achieve a common goal. The workforce had to be
directed to the frontlines. However, behind the lines labor had to be directed away from less necessary
affluences during the total war. The ammunitions industries had to be built up to provide shells and
guns and hundreds of other weapons. Agriculture had to be mobilized as well to provide food for both
civilians and for soldiers. Transportation

Racism In Trethewey s Native Guard
In Trethewey s Native Guard, graves symbolize of the futility of mankind s efforts to conceal its evils,
and of failure to combat the racist system put in place by white America. For years, Trethewey s
mother fought to protect her daughter from the hatred and prejudice in America. Her protest against
the hatred of America was snuffed out by abusive partners and the nascent racism of America. In the
poem Graveyard Blues, she describes the atmosphere of the graveyard as blues y and dreary. She
wander[s] now among names of the dead: My mother s name, stone pillow for my head, her mother s
name now only a marker of her lifetime of suffering. Not only a problem in Trethewey s time, racism
and inherent discrimination was an issue for even the African American heroes of the Civil War, the
Native Guard receive no recognition from the historians of the fort or the Daughters of the
Confederacy. In the poem Elegy for the Native Guards, Trethewey states that there are no names
carved for the Native Guards 2nd Regiment, Union men, black phalanx. What is monument to their
legacy? They receive no honorable grave. They receive the most barbaric of burial rites, doomed to
have fish dart among their bones. The bodies of the native guard are cast out of sight into the ocean,
neglected in an attempt to forget the evils committed against them. Their forgotten and neglected
grave symbolizes the futility of fighting against the racism of America, as well as the futility in

The most intriguing character in The Jade Peony Essay
In the Jade Peony of Wayson Choy, poh poh or the grandmama seems to be the most intriguing
character. Her character is complex for her grandchildren who are the narrators of the novel and
therefore complicated for the reader of the novel; but not so complicated for their neighbour Mrs. Lim
or even Father and stepmother who are from the generation in between. Even though Poh poh s
character is not the narrator, she is present throughout the story even after her death. In each of the
three stories, she is mentioned, described, or quoted by the narrators. She has a huge impact on all
narrators. Poh poh like any other grandparent likes to teach her culture, traditions, and language to her
grandchildren. The only difference is that her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though it seems that Poh poh discriminates between girls and boys, there are factors that can
make this judgment wrong. Beside Kiam whose childhood is not so much mentioned in the book,
there are three children that are raised in the family and between them only Liang had a normal life.
Jung, the second brother, was adopted from a home where the father used to hit him with a belt and
the mother either committed suicide or was murdered. He had enough of hardship in his first four
years of life that could make Pho poh decide not to be anymore harsh on him. And the other brother,
Sekky, was weak and sick from the beginning of his life. Again, this may be another factor that could
stop Poh poh from being tough on him as well. Another reason that makes life for Liang harder is that
she as a girl should spend more time at home while other boys might have more chance to get more
freedom outside the house while helping the father or doing manly jobs.
There is no doubt that Poh poh is a traditional person. She obviously differs and distinguishes between
boys and girls. For example, Liang should help Poh poh in cleaning and taking care of the new born
baby, Sekky, while boys are playing. On the other hand, boys, like Kiam and Jung, should help their
father in collecting the

Shakespeare s Influence On Hamlet
It is clear that todays entertainment has lost its touch with the more classical influences on its
predecessors. However, every so often a movie comes out with the influence of shakespearen plays.
Some are very easy to compare, like Shakespeares play Romeo and Juliet and Disneys movie Gnomeo
and Juliet. Others take alittle more thought, like Shakespeares play Hamlet and Disneys movie The
Lion King. Of course these are just two similarities from many. There are no birth records of William
Shakespeare. Church records indicates that William Shakespeare was baptized at Holy Trinity Church
in Stratford upon Avon on April 26th, 1564. Because of this it has been believed he was born on or
near April 23rd, 1564. This has been the date in which scholars acknowledge as his birthday. His

There he learned Latin and Greek. He became acquainted with the plays of Plautus and Terence. His
stimulation to read and explore the world of ancient and modern history would eventually help him,
when utilizing his knowledge in his plays. He married Anne Hathaway on November 28th, 1582, in
Worcester, in Canterbury Province. William was 18 and Anne was 26 and pregnant. On May 26, 1583,
their first child, Susanna was born. Two years later, February 2, 1585, the twins Hamlet and Judith
were born. After the birth of the twins, there were no records of William Shakespeare s life. Many
scholars call this period the lost years. It is believed that he arrived in London in the 1580s and found
work as a horse attendant at some of the London s finer Theaters. By 1592, William Shakespeare
earned a living as a actor and a playwright in London and had

  • 2. Robots Vs Robots With space travel being a topic much looked at since the middle of the 20th century, it is only inevitable that man has already entered space and taken that step into space travel. However, even though man has done so before, it does not necessarily man should continue to do what can be done by the technological advantages of this age; robots. Having the ability to send exclusively robotic missions into space provides many advantages that a human accompanied mission could not also have claim to, one obvious variation being in the safety of a robotic mission versus a manned mission. Humans are fragile when it comes to being put into environments other than their own (Colwell Britt, n.d.) and there are a lot of physical health setbacks. When in zero g in space, human bodies face many changes such as a sudden height increase, and even face a weakening of the bones that can later lead to bones breaking much easier from even small accidents ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001). Humans also face the risk of being exposed to radiation when there is no atmosphere surrounding them to protect them ( Manned or Unmanned? , 2001) and the temperatures of different planets and elements of space make it nearly impossible for a human to be able to travel to certain places (Colwell Britt, n.d). Robots, however, do not face this kind of setback and are much more tolerant to the environment outside of earth s atmosphere. Human lives are also at risk when in space, and can be lost very quickly due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Having a vegetarian diet has been a topic that creates conflicting opinions, and it seems that the controversy gets bigger as time moves on. In the times that we are living in today, where we are persistently bombarded with information through the television and Internet, it makes it hard to know who is right and who is wrong on this issue. Embracing vegetarianism provides the optimum benefit as it keeps a person fit as a fiddle, with the added benefits of being human and not disturbing the law of nature. So many Americans in many instances are caught up with discovering the perfect diet. While such a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many proponents of vegetarianism say that eating meat harms health, wastes resources, causes deforestation, and creates pollution. They often argue that killing animals for food is cruel and unethical since non animal food sources are plentiful. Many opponents of a vegetarian diet say that meat consumption is healthful and humane, and that producing vegetables causes many of the same environmental problems as producing meat. They also argue that humans have been eating and enjoying meat for 2.3 million years. In Western culture, vegetarianism

  • 5. Non-Cell Autonomous Tumor Supression by p53 Non Cell Autonomous Tumor Suppression by p53 Introduction and significance for the entire manuscript (Guide: approx one quarter page/150 words). The p53 is a vital tumour suppressor protein in humans which is important for cell cycle regulation. Ablation of the p53 protein causes the cell to proliferate infinitely that contributes to the development of tumours. Through the cell autonomous program the cell cycle arrest and apoptosis is caused by the presence of p53. The aim of the journal is to study cellular senescence program in hepatic stellate cells that is p53 dependent which is formed by dying hepatocytes which secret factors that influence the tissue microenvironment, preventing fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer via promoting p53 senescent in these HSCs. The research objectives explain that fibrosis is limited through the p53 mediated senescence program by stopping HSC proliferation through cell autonomous canonical senescence regulators and the non cell autonomous effects of SASP on ECM and immune surveillance. Currently there is a debate on the role p53 plays in HSCs which influences later stages of liver cancer and the research exhibits that through non cell autonomous mechanisms, p53 can inhibit cancer by manipulating the tissue microenvironment. The coffee industry hires many people around the world for its growing, processing, and trading. The coffee trade is vital in economies in less developed countries and in more developed countries. Every single way the coffee trade works in is vital to economies; from farmers, to consumers. Therefore many people attempt to make the coffee trade fairer to its people. From these people, many of their attempts do not suffice. The global coffee trade affects everyone in it and even outside of it. The coffee trade created jobs for people to farm coffee. Farmers are the reason why the rest of the trade makes so much money. They are being so underpaid that people have to make organizations to make sure that farmers are paid better than they were. This is to make sure that farmers have money in their economies and are able to school their children. Organizations such as FairTrade make sure that farmers get paid more money than they used to. This is so they could afford drinking water, education, food, and such. This is so they can afford to just live better. Although this seems like the perfect plan, it does also fail sometimes. Organizations such as FairTrade cannot get everyone to buy into it. Starbucks only uses FairTrade espresso beans for their espresso coffee. • 7. Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez... Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez Works Cited Not Included Chronicle of a Death Foretold, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is a story that brings one to question the code of honor that exists in the Columbian town. Marquez paints a picture that shows how societal values, such as honor, have become more important than the inherent good of human life. The Vicario brothers belief that their sister was done wrong was brought upon by this honor, along with racial and social tension. The dangerous path of both honor and religious faith caused Santiago s untimely death. Before God and before men, Pablo Vicario said. It was a matter of honor (Marquez 56). The narrator explained that most of those who could have done something to prevent the crime and did not console themselves with the pretext that affairs of honor are sacred monopolies, giving access only to those who are part of the drama (114). If the medieval idea that death brings honor is true, then it is safe to say Santiago Nasar died without honor for he did not know the reason for his death was. The Vicarios were poor Hispanics and the Nasars were rich Arabs, so social and racial tension was clear. In the town though, honor is not defined by race or color. The Vicario brothers are cousins to Santiago, yet when Santiago died the Arab families were perplexed and sadâ?¦but none harbored the ideas of vengeance (94). After they killed Santiago, the brothers went to the parish house, not for repentance, but because they would be safe from the Arabs (91) and were comforted by the honor of having done their duty, and the only thing that worried them was the persistence of the smell [of death] (91). Before their release, their mother Pura asked Father Amador to confess her sons in jail, but Pedro Vicario refused, and convinced his brother that they had nothing to repent (95). • 9. Entertainment Media Influence On American Culture Influence Of Entertainment Media I believe entertainment media does have an influence on our culture simply because, it s all around us through the radio, television, newspaper, and Internet etc. Throughout listening to the radio, watching the television, reading the newspaper and surfing the Internet this activity holds the attention and interest of us or gives us pleasure and delight. Once we become so engaged and involved in what we are watching, hearing or even reading we believe and we tend to sometimes take on the form of what we are engaged into. This alone could be one of the reasons why it allows American culture to change their values and morals and tend to look at life differently. The word entertainment is basically what it says when we speak of entertainment media we are speaking on something that amuses us and keep our attention and most importantly it influences our ways of thinking and how we perceive different situations in life. Comparing The Fall Of The House Of Usher And Ligeia The Fall of the House of Usher, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, and Ligeia, there was an affinity between the many characters of each one of the stories. There were also many other analogies in the books so far as a situation, plot, setting, etc. In the story The Murders of the Rue Morgue, which is a very mysterious story, the main action commences when the narrator and another man named C. Auguste Dupin meet together because they are seeking for the same book at an ambiguous library in Rue Montmartre. The two men read about a murder in a newspaper headline, then one night they re staying at a hotel and hear a shriek from about the fourth floor above them in which they call the cops in backlash to that. Once the cops had broken into the apartment, for the door was locked, they found what seemed to be a murder scene for all of the blood and the hair on the floor. The police officers and the other two men react to the scene of what seems to be death by acting concerned about finding what had happened and who it had happened to and who committed the crime. A main reason that was said to cause the Military Revolution, said by the historians, was warfare. Also, power was a major part that had to do with it. The different techniques that were processed in a short period of time were the start of the Military Revolution. As a matter of fact, someone that changed the war tactics in an increasing way was Gustavus Adolphus, which was the king of Sweden. Gustavus army began something called the salvo which was really different from the way they used to fight, which was the infantry fired row by row. The salvo was that the rows would fire all at once, so that caused the opposing squadrons to die in massive amounts. The routine he did was that after shooting the rivals with his pistol volley, they would then jab the enemies with their blades. If that is the case, then why is there free rotation of the C C bond when the  bond is even stronger than the  bond? The correct explanation should be: There is no free rotation of the C=C bond because of the bond. For a bond to be formed, the p orbitals must be properly aligned. Free rotation about the C=C bond is equivalent to breaking the bond and misaligning the p orbitals.  Comment: Geometrical isomerism is NOT POSSIBLE if one of the carbon atoms in the C=C bond is bonded to two identical substituents. • 27. Analysis Of Sleuthing The Alamo While the Texas Revolution began as colonists in the Mexican province of Texas rebelled against the Mexican authority for political and economic reasons, many historians believed that there was a racial and cultural factor in the conflict. Historians such as Eugene C. Barker, a prominent history professor and an expert in Texas history, based his argument of a racial war on Sam Houston s speech to the Texas volunteer army at Refugio. In his book, Sleuthing The Alamo, James Crisp comes to Sam Houston s defense and disproves Barker s argument by taking a closer look at the speech and the details associated with it. For many years, Sam Houston s speech at Refugio was closely associated as being racial and prejudice towards the Tejanos. As Crisp put it straightforwardly the words of the speech were harsh. They accused the Tejanos, the Mexicans living in Texas, of aiding the enemy in great numbers. Additionally, San Houston referred to the Tejanos as half Indians and emphasized the superiority of the white man by saying nor will the vigor of the descendants of the sturdy north ever mix with the phlegm of the indolent Mexicans, no matter how long we may live among them. Houston s discriminatory language against the Mexicans, as well as, the negative manner in which he portrayed the Indians stunned Crisp. Crisp declared the words seemed so unlike Houston and given his long and friendly relationships with Native Americans, how could Houston revile Mexicans by calling them half Indians? Those questions compelled Crisp to search and investigate much deeper. Firstly, he discovered that the Texas revolt was a much more complicated event than a race war. According to Crisp, the conflict arose over the fundamental differences between the white colonists of Texas, rather than a cultural conflict. Differences such as disagreements over states rights, excessively high tariffs and a dictatorial type of Mexican Government were some of the reasons that forced the white colonists of Texas to break away from the Mexican rule. Crisp believed, that conflict between the two groups was not so much an immediate cause as it was an eventual consequence of Texas s separation from Mexico. In other words, the racial ... Yet they were, and Maya Jasanoff, who teaches history at Harvard, has provided a richly informative account of those who made the choice to embrace imperial Britain. Near the end of the Paris peace negotiations that ended the war, a small but important amendment was added to the resulting treaty that prohibited the British from carrying away any Negroes, or other property. When he became aware of this proviso, Sir Guy Carleton, the commander of British forces in North America, acted. Charged with the task of evacuating 20,000 troops and 35,000 loyalists from New York, he made securing the freedom of the black loyalists a priority. He expedited the provision of documents establishing their freedom and hurried them onto a fleet of ships headed for Nova Scotia. The speed of this sequence of events infuriated George Washington. But Carleton responded that it was a matter of honor. The Negroes in question, he explained, I found free when I arrived in New York, I had therefore no right . . . to prevent their going to any part of the world they thought proper. Earlier, when Lord Dunmore, the colonial governor of Virginia, promised freedom to bondsmen who joined the British forces, as many as 20,000 including slaves belonging to Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry made the risky decision to escape.
