Creating a Culture of Innovation (in Libraries)M.J. D'Elia
My slides for a short talk on creating a culture of innovation in Libraries delivered at the ARL Membership Meeting in Washington, DC (Oct 8, 2014). Observations fall into three categories: Platforms, People and Practice - with a dash of Persistence. Note: I'm not sure if the slides will make sense on their own!
Initial presentation of my Master Project at Kolding Designschool (Denmark)
It's touching on my vision for my project; to build a sustainable tech startup and hopefully change the world in a positive way.
A peak into what my written thesis will consist of and the Lean Loop which I will be using throughout my Practical Project.
And ending off with my struggle in starting such an ambitious project.
My rant from EuroIA 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden. I have incorporated some notes in these slides that were part of my oral presentation for the sake of clarity.
Why Design Thinking is Important for Innovation? - Favarin Vitillo - ViewConf...Simone Favarin
Design is a way of thinking, of determining people's true, underlying needs, and then delivering products and services that help them. This is the starting about Design. The meaning of the concept.
VR is a new technology that is entering in many industrial and creative processes: nowadays many company and people are experimenting with VR, because it opens new possibilities and it allows costs and time reduction. It is important to understand what is the current status of the technology, the future projections and especially its applications.
To decompress from the awesome talks and workshops at Lean Day: West, I built a presentation to share with my colleagues in order to share some of the stories of real-world Lean Engineering and Lean Startup. Apologies for removing some privileged information, and for the font weirdness!

The relationship between Business and Design: the Lego Serious Play casePatrizia Bertini
The relationship between business and design has gone through deep changes in the past years. We are assisting at a convergence between business and design lead by the formalisation and adoption of design thinking and the revelation that good design is good business: many approaches from design have migrated into business and management enhancing the potential of business focused companies. But there is a very special case of a method that was developed as an answer to a business need that has successfully migrated to design practices. This is the case of Lego Serious Play: developed from the '90s to improve the quality of strategic development meetings it has now been adopted by design companies to enhance creative processes.

Presentation at the IA Summit 2017
Why can’t we make it easier to be accessible?
Why can’t we aim for great user experiences that are also accessible? Creating accessible technology has to go beyond minimal compliance with standards that meets the law but may not be usable.
We need a bigger goal: creating delight for everyone. We’ll start by exploring what makes a delightful experience and how a good balance small pleasures and anticipated needs supports accessible UX in both big and small ways. Like any UX, this concern for users has to be part of every design decision.
But we also need to think about what it takes to make this happen. It means incorporating a wider range of people into user research and usability testing, and making accessibility a core requirement, not an afterthought. But most of all, it takes tools that are designed to support accessibility. We’ll look at some of the progress… and some of the failures that hold us back.

How do we get beyond "blah blah blah?" How can non-profits use the web to get more done -- instead of drowning in chatter, overload, and distraction? How do we empower our supporters to participate and engage in depth, instead of just talking at them? How do we use the web as a smart collaboration engine, instead of just another communications medium?
In this keynote presentation and discussion, Matt Thompson, Chief Storyteller for the Mozilla Foundation, will share what he's learned from successes and failures in the space. His new mantra -- "think small, do less, work open" -- is a six-word manifesto for organizations seeking smarter collaboration, greater focus and agility, and reduced mental clutter and transaction cost.
In a world of overflowing inboxes and shrinking attention spans, content is no longer king -- meaningful engagement and participation is. So what can we learn from how leading organizations are using open web tools and thinking to let their audiences in, tap greater human potential, and unlock hidden superpowers? Join us for a lively exploration into where the web is headed.
“The Five Meetings You Meet in Web Design” by Kevin Hoffman (Now What? Confer...Blend Interactive
Web site building techniques are always changing, but the meetings supporting that work sadly haven’t changed much at all. At the core of every meeting is a group of human brains, and against the breakneck pace of iPhone model releases those brains have not evolved in the slightest. Better meeting design for web professionals addresses this constraint. Every web design organization has a core curriculum of five types of meeting goals: getting started, checking in, presenting, exploring, and the big finish. Each of the five meetings have classic mistakes, unique opportunities, best executions, and remote work implications. Kevin will explore how each of the five meetings is an opportunity to do your best work, with plenty of examples you can start using right away.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
