Ap Psychology Application Essay Sample
My Junior year AP Psychology course didn t just teach me about the human brain, social patterns and
mental disorders it taught me about myself. By the end of the first semester of that class, I knew that I
had found my calling: to study the human mind and give professional aid to those who suffer from
mental disorders. I am confident that the University of Wisconsin Madison will help me fulfill this
goal with its world renowned Psychology program. UW Madison is the home of numerous
breakthroughs in Psychological science and students who have changed the course of the history of
Psychology, such as Abraham Maslow (Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs) and Harry Harlow (Harlow s
Monkey Experiments). The idea of studying at such an esteemed university is thrilling to me and I m
eager to pursue my education there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Role Strain Vs Role Conflict
When looking at society introspectively, it is evident that it functions on hierarchies. Social status can
be defined as the level of prestige or relevance one possesses in society, while a status set is an
assortment of responsibilities which stem directly from one s standing in society. Although each one
occupies a certain position in society, one factor or position is paramount to the other, which is
referred to as the master status(Steckley,2014). Meanwhile, social roles are obligations associated with
a particular status, while a role set is a compilation of roles relevant to a particular status. In regards to
roles, certain issues may arise which are known as role strain, and role conflict. A Role strain arises
when two or more roles create direct conflict pertaining to a particular status (Steckley, 2014).
Although similar to a role strain, role conflict differs as it is the rigidity of requirements expected
between multiple statuses (Steckley, 2014). After establishing the definition of a status, it can be
further condensed into two categories; ascribed and achieved. An ascribed status is what an individual
inherits from birth or uncontrolled, whereas an achieved status is a ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Chaim Potok s The Chosen, Verbal...
Since the beginning of time, humans have endeavored to express their thoughts to other humans. Early
on, humans may have expressed their thoughts through only body language and primitive grunts;
however, as civilization progressed, humans developed intelligible language. From development of
that early language, written language was sprouted. From some development of that written language,
other forms of communication came into being. Today, many forms of communication exist; however,
all of them center around verbal communication. In Chaim Potok s critically acclaimed novel, The
Chosen, verbal communication, or the lack thereof, is a main theme. The lack of communication,
silence, in The Chosen is used by Potok not only to show the suffering of his characters but also to
symbolize the struggles of the Jewish people. Potok uses silence prominently in The Chosen to show
isolation. Both of the protagonists in the book experience an isolating silence; for example, the silence
imposed upon Danny is a main component of the novel s plot. Danny s pain and isolation is caused by
his father s silence toward him. Reb Saunders, Danny s father, doesn t speak with Danny because he
believes that being silent toward Danny is what is best for him; however, the other characters of the
book see only that the silence causes Danny suffering. Reb s silence toward Danny would seem cruel
in a normal situation, but in Danny s situation, it seems to be atrocious. In the forties, being a Jew

Analysis of Bluebird Essay
Analysis of Bluebird
English A.
Bluebird is a poem written by the modern poet Charles Bukowski and published in 1992 in Bukowski
s collection of poems titled The Last Night of the Earth Poems .
The poem is about the vulnerability, innermost torment and the suppression of an emotional and
fragile personality symbolized through the image of a Bluebird hidden inside the speakers mind.
The composition of the poem is very loose with only two stanzas and a lot of verse lines, some of
which only consists of one word. The verse lines with only one word suggest that the reader also has
to interpret the way the poem is read; not only the message and theme. Bluebird also has an unusual
graphical look that confine, just like Bukowski s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He saw the inside of most American bars, was abused as a child and had a face that was scared by
pocks. Against all odds Bukowski became a renowned, but provocative, poet. The stigma created by
his history and habits, is a stigma that saw Bukowski as a whoring and numb figure, but in the
symbolic value of a bluebird Bukowski tries to tell us that he has a caring personality hidden deep
inside him.
Bukowski feared the reaction from the public if he let the inner bluebird out, but the inner bluebird
also tormented Bukowski himself. It s not only the society s stigma that made Bukowski keep the
bluebird in, but also the very self destructive view Bukowski had on himself. A self destructive view,
backed up by his self destructive drinking and treatment of his own body. there s a bluebird in my

How Media Frame Shape Their Framing When Reporting On...
Abstract
Reason for writing:
Why is this research important?
Problem:
What problem does this work attempt to solve? What is the main argument?
Methodology:
An abstract of a scientific work may include specific models or approaches used. Other abstracts may
describe the types of evidence used in the research.
Introduction
The framing techniques that media utilizes can be telling of the source of the reporting and can also be
beneficial in discerning public opinion on domestic and foreign affairs. What the media reports on as
well as how they present their reports are often consistent with their host countries interests, but it is
my belief that differences occur when reporting on similar issues in foreign countries. The goal of this
research is to discover how media frame stories differently with respect to geography, and to unearth
possible patterns and themes in framing while exposing and explaining any anomalies. This leads to
the main question of how do media outlets adjust their framing when reporting on domestic versus
international protests? In short, what role does proximity play in framing strategies? Protests are a
type of political discourse and demonstration that are not unique to any region or country, even though
their subject matter may be. In the following study, I will analyze existing research to focus on
protests and movements such as the Occupy movement, Gezi protests, Arab Spring,

What Is Gatsby Dishonest
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a story about a man named Gatsby, who never got his
American Dream. Tom stole his girl and Wilson killed him, but even though he died, he met one true
friend named Nick. Tom and Gatsby are different in they way they earned their money but their love
for Daisy and dishonesty is the same. Tom is old money, meaning he inherited his money and Gatsby
is new money, meaning he work for it. His family were enormously wealthy even in college his
freedom with money was a matter for reproach... (chapter 1) Tom has always had money even back to

is dishonest in a relationship. He looked at me sideways and I knew why Jordan Baker had believed he
was lying. He hurried the phrase educated at Oxford, or swallowed it, or choked on it, as though it had

that Gatsby never accepted his parents for who they were, and that he changed his name from James
Gatz to Jay Gatsby. While Tom and Gatsby are both dishonest and love Daisy, they both came from
different money backgrounds. Tom had a good life, he was wealthy and had a girl he loved. On the
other hand Gatsby did not, even the one he loved the most did not show up when it most counted. Not

The Beauty Of Computer Science And Computer Engineering
Introduction:
Ever since I was a grade schooler, I enjoyed experimenting with Linux terminal coding and
programming on my computer. I can t forget the very first moment that a simple program I developed
started to work correctly. The beauty of computer science and computer engineering lies in the notion
that even with the numerous innovations in the field, there does exist plenty of room for improvement.
Watching and following the latest trends in the area of embedded systems, robotics, security and other
related fields, I became conscious of the fact that these would be the focus of the present century. I
remember a time when I dropped my father s notebook in junior high school. After I opened the
already broken notebook, I saw things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only then could I understand the basics of analog circuits, digital design, computers systems, and
robotics, and quench my thirst for knowledge in these areas for a little. Besides, I participated in some
courses of computer engineering in our faculty to comprehend more on the subject of security,
programming, and algorithms. The level of competitiveness in this major is extremely high
notwithstanding, I wanted to exploit the material I learned through classes in practical projects and
hence I worked on at least one academic project each semester and also I wanted to perceive their
usage in the industry at the same time, thanks to summer internships at the Nemone Pardaz Azar
company for the last 2 years, where I created a communication bridge for data loggers and worked on
automatic hospital beds. Under the supervision of Dr. Ghader Karimian, my thesis advisor, I have
researched in the laboratory of digital systems in our department, where I investigated on embedded
systems, digital design, robotics, computer vision and machine learning in the laboratory which helped
me to experience the way of researching in the academic fields. My thesis project is about monocular
tracking of a ball with a robotic arm using a computer, in which my understandings of Robotic OS and
Linux programming is of help. It s a work in progress and I m looking to finish the project in this year
and publish it in a journal the following year with the help of my advisor. As a teaching assistant, I

Human Prostitution And Human Trafficking
Horrifying, simply horrifying. The reading was difficult. I must say I was not surprised by it though.
The situations mentioned in the text are all too familiar to me. I used to volunteer at children s homes,
as well as homeless shelters. I heard all the stories of human trafficking and prostitution in children. I
meet the girls and I got to know the victims. My heart broke for them. I remember one little girl by the
name of Andy that started prostitution at the age of 12 and then was almost killed. It is a sick thing.
Reading this makes me mad, but anger without action is of no use. I do not believe that everyone is
called to be a cop and try to confront it personally like many of the cops did in the text. I think that

Negative Impact On Communication
In my life so far, the top three most influential technologies for communication have been e mail,
texting (including group texting), and social media (primarily Facebook). E mail has shaped my life
positively by being able to communicate professionally. Whether I need to communicate via e mail
with bosses, colleagues, or coworkers; e mail has been an essential tool to be able to do so
professionally, especially when face to face is not an option. A way that e mail has had a negative
impact on my life is if I neglect it. Even when you are on vacation, out with family, or sick in bed; the
e mails keep coming and the pile up can be overwhelming to get through. This is especially true when
you are managing multiple e mail accounts. Another negative impact is when e mail is the only type of
communication with someone. Through my experience, I have found that you can only say so much
through written words, especially through email. The best communication with people goes through
multiple mediums, of talking in person (or on the phone) as well as through e mail.
Texting has had a big impact on my life. I grew up without a phone, however, in my last years of high
school my parents bought me one. Since then, texting has been a crucial way of communicating with
my friends, family, and peers. Texting, first of all is very convenient. Most people text back within a
couple hours and it allows for informal conversation. Group texting has played a key part in my life as
well. Group

Analysis Of My Life
The small, ethnically decorated room was filled with genuine laughter, echoing through the hallway. It
was the first thing I heard when I entered the room. A loud group of friends sat on the dusty, brown
couch in the middle of the room. The studs on their distressed jeans reflected the ceiling light that
shined into my eyes. The scent of the warm, Turkish coffee they were drinking lingered across the
room. Dozens of motivational posters covered the walls. There was a Moroccan inspired gold and
black trim that hung along the ceiling. I heard the mellow beat of a tabla, which is a popular musical
instrument all across the Middle East and South Asia. I was introduced to Tamara, who worked at the
front desk of the Middle Eastern Student Center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She returned a few minutes later, and was ready to continue the interview. This might be a sensitive
subject. Do you know if this facility has ever suffered from hate crimes or violence? I asked
nervously. I feel like the facility didn t receive any, but individuals have. I don t think people intend to
attack the Middle Eastern Student Center because it s just a resource center. It s just there to provide
resources. I m pretty sure our director faces difficulties in bringing up issues facing Middle Eastern
culture and things like that because people don t really care, and we re such a small minority, Tamara
said. I already knew that xenophobia and Islamophobia were relevant, but it still surprised me that
many individuals had to deal with such hatred. Tamara also brought up how many students of Middle
Eastern descent or those who practiced Islam came to the center for counseling and support after the
brutal terrorist attack in France in late 2015. Many students reported being taunted by racist comments
because they wore a hijab or a beard. Despite this unfortunate event, it did bring the community
together, and closer than they were before. It allowed everyone in the community to take a moment
and appreciate how lucky they were to be part of an organization that created a supportive atmosphere.
Have there ever been efforts made to close down or expand this facility? I asked

Theseus And Phaedr The Value Of Family Loyalty
The value of family loyalty is important in any given society whether it s from 800 B.C. to 2016,
granted not all families work together the family members that show loyalty to one another tend to be
set up for admiration. All these different relationships are what makes a family, whether it s the loyalty
between Theseus and Phaedra or you re Theseus cursing his son into exile. The Athenian hero
Theseus, took part in many adventures and so many enterprises. He helps the Argives after the War of
the Seven against Thebes, when the Thebans refused to allow the defeated to bury their dead, he helps
Oedipus and his daughters, and prevents Hercules from killing himself after his insanity. Theseus
fights the Amazons twice, once attacking them, once defending their attack on Athens and marries
their queen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though that wasn t showing loyalty to his own son he was showing loyalty to his wife. I believe
that this would still apply to today s society or at least should apply. There are so many stories of
women not being believed when they share their story of rape which is awful. Like any good human
should, one would hope that the woman s story is the side taken and the offender sent into exile.
Another example of Theseus showing his loyalty is to his father when he goes on his quest to find
him. It s pretty uncommon for a child to want to go find their father after he abandoned him his whole
life. But he understands the importance of loyalty to his family. This commonly relates to kids that
grow up without a parent or parents that choose to go and find them, despite the abandonment.
The lesson to be learned in these mythology myths is no matter what is thrown at your family, it is
important to keep loyalty in mind, any family can take this lesson into account to keep a strong

The Bonaventure Pine, 1893, Paul Signac
It was 3 o clock on a tuesday. Seeing that it was nearing closing time, all exhibits in the museum were
nearly empty. Room after room of artwork had no one in them, except for the few security guards
scattered here and there. Wanting to see everything, I left behind my family and rushed through the
vast museum. Each section of artworks offered everything from abstract splatters of paint, to ornate
sets of furniture. One piece in particular caught my eye. Captured in a golden frame, the canvas held
thousands of painstakingly placed dots. Pinks, blues, yellows, and greens all together in unity to form
the image of a lopsided tree perched on top of a grassy hill. To the right of the painting a meager note

Analysis Of Webrtc Is A Free, Open Project That Enables...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real Time Communication
capabilities via the use of simple JavaScript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC components have been
built to serve that purpose. It has been termed as a disruptive innovation that has replaced the software
installation or plug in functionality demanded by the old browsers. It can democratize and decentralize
tools required for content creation and communication like telephony, gaming, video production,
music making, news gathering and many other applications. It builds on the strength of the web
browser and abstracts signalling by offering a simple state machine that maps directly to
PeerConnection. This enables the web developers to choose their own signalling protocols for their
usage scenario. Ultimately, its flexibility and ability to download JavaScript will change the way Real
Time Communication happens in the future.
1. INTRODUCTION
Real Time Communications (RTCs) had a beginning with the dedicated Telephone networks before
they evolved to use the Internet with Telecom type Servers . The significant development that
happened to make the worlds of RTC and Web to meet was WebRTC which was the answer to avoid
the installation of plug ins into web browsers and build Real Time functions directly into the browsers.

Social Insurance and Allied Services. It was introduced in order to tackle the five giants of economic
hardships Want, ignorance, idleness, squalor and disease Want poverty was the key to social problem
which affected everyone. However in 1946 the National Insurance Act was introduced in order to
provide comprehensive insurance. It provided unemployment benefits, retirement pension and widow,
maternity benefits. Ignorance this was introduced to provide free education for children up to the age
of 15. Idleness It was introduced to maintain high levels of employment after war. William Beveridge
understood that poverty and unemployment were linked to a lack of information which hindered
people in finding work. Squalor this was a system of dropping slum areas and overcrowding areas
during war. The government aimed to build 200,000 houses a year New Towns Act (1946). Disease

Schindler started saving Jews in 1939, when he came to Krakow during the German invasion. Looking
for his own power in Krakow he opened up a small enamel shop near the Jewish ghetto. He employed
mainly Jewish workers, which saved them from being deported to Labour camps. In 1942 Schindler
found out through some of his workers that many of the local Jews were being sent to the brutal
Plazow labour camp. Schindler had connections with the German government, which came in handy.
He convinced the S.S. and the Armaments Administration to let Schindler set up a portion of the camp
in his factory. He then took the unfit and unqualified for work, which spared 900 Jewish lives.
In October of 1944 he approached the Russian army to receive permission to re establish his once
defunct business as an armament production company in Bruunlitz. After negotiating with S.S.
officials Schindler was allowed to take some Jews with him. He took 700 Jews from the Grossrosen
camp, and 300 women from Auschwitz. These workers were given the best food, clothing, shelter and
medical care that Schindler could afford. He then heard that a train of evacuated Jews from the

Persuasive Techniques In Bowling For Columbine
A documentary is a genre of film that provides a factual report on a particular story, viewpoint,
message or experience. In this essay, two documentaries, Bowling for columbine by Michael Moore
and Made in Bangladesh by CBC news will be explored to show how persuasive techniques are used
to make an audience feel a particular way.
Firstly, Bowling for Columbine Moore s addresses the issue of gun violence in America following a
school shooting. On the other hand, Made in Bangladesh by CBC news focuses on the issue of
sweatshops and maltreatment of workers in Bangladesh after the collapsing of an uncertified
sweatshop. These two documentaries effectively and successfully use persuasive techniques to present
a confrontational message on social justice. Also, they position the audience to sympathize with the
victims and in turn want to do something about the issue. These techniques include the use careful
selection of material, the use of cinematography, music and sound effects, sequencing and editing.
Although the two documentaries have different content they equally manage to persuade viewers that
the content is meaningful. The impact that the documentaries had on me or other audience members
was that of sympathy and outrage about the incidents that fell upon innocent people featured in these
documentaries.
Both documentaries were careful about the material which was used and the that information was

Isolating and identifying major motivating factors in the complex global landscape of the Cold War is,
without a doubt, difficult, but in the case of the Minuteman Missiles and the Amit Ballistic Missile
System, three factors can be identified. The major shift in Vietnam policy, a growth in counter culture
and willingness to protest, and the decreased influence of the Catholic Church in North Dakota over
the six year period between the installation of Minuteman Missiles and the installation of the Anti
Ballistic Missile all contributed to an increase in protest in 1970. The birth of civil defense in the
United States was slow, painful, and it almost ended before it began. The Office of Civil Defence was
created on May 20, 1941, with the primary purpose of evaluating civil defense programs in other
countries. As a result of this evaluation, civil defense was deemed unnecessary, and the office was
slated to close just two years after its creation. The office clung to life for two additional years until it
was closed in 1945, and, with it, the idea of civil defense in the United States appeared to die. It was

Who Is Esther s Mental Health In The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath reflects upon her life in her novel, The Bell Jar. Esther, the main character, is oppressed
by societal standards of the 1950 s. Women live unfulfilled lives due to societal standards. The
subjection of women keeps them self imprisoned, lacking individual success. Plath begins to
demonstrate this by showing Esther s college and young adult life in New York City. The lack of
personal expression leads Esther into a depression. The lack of access to successful careers for women
leads to the mental health problems seen in the 1950 s. Through the characterization of Esther, Plath
demonstrates how societal standards and lack of opportunities for women directly affects one s mental
health. Through the characterization

Summary Of The Negro Artist And The Radical Mountain By...
Langston Hughes has made many accomplishments that most people couldn t make. It was a great
challenge for colored people to express their feelings without going through a lot of trouble. Hughes
was successful in expressing he feelings. Considering the fact that he was half Caucasian and half
African American, he wasn t treated the way he was supposed to. So he wanted to do something about
it and change the course of history. On June 23, 1926, Hughes published a stunning essay called The
Negro Artist and the Radical Mountain. This essay captured the philosophy behind art and radical
problems faced by black artists. In essence, he talks about how a young Negro poet did not want to be
recognized as a Negro poet. Instead, he wanted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We younger Negro artists who create now intend to express our individual dark skinned selves without

we are glad. If they are not, their displeasure doesn t matter either. We build our temples for tomorrow,
strong as we know how, and we stand on top of the mountain, free within ourselves. Hughes clarifies
how colored people should pay more attention to their own beauty. Hughes sums up the life and
thoughts of young negroes like the young poet he described at the beginning of his essay. Another
great work of art by Langston Hughes was a poem called Harlem Sweeties. He uses the term sugar hill
and different shades of food to illustrate the personality and beauty of the melanated people of
Harlem. Some of these examples include descriptions such as coffee and cream, chocolate, walnut
tinted, coco brown, and many more. In another poem called My People, Langston illustrates how
wonderful his people are. He expresses the beauty of his people by talking about the beautiful night.

in his life that he had to deal with. Hughes has a white

Social Media And Digital Technology
Imagine living in the modern world without the convenience of social media and digital technology.
We always hear that technology has changed the way people live by making peoples life easier and
interesting. Scientist, engineers, etc. are always developing new technologies to make one s life easier,
social media and websites regularly update their applications increasing ease of use and becoming
more users friendly. The creation and evolution of social media and digital technology has opened up
new avenues for people to communicate, travel and obtain entertainment. Cell phones, internet, and e
mailing are some of the few technologies that have improved the way we communicate. Of course,
our grandparents did not have access to these technologies when they were our age. Back then people
sent messages through the mail in order to communicate with family, friends, and loved ones that
lived in different areas. In the modern era, it is so much easier to connect with our family, friends, and
loved ones using the internet, our cell phones by sending them e mails or an SMS, they will receive
these messages very fast and they are going to be able to respond instantly. According to the survey
results 95.06% of students send and receive more than 20 messages a day using some kind of
messenger. As to where back in the day you might send maybe 4 letters a day and not receive a
response for a while. Noah and his girlfriend used video chat and SMS and Facebook to communicate

Why Do Hunters Use Biological Weapons
The use of biological weapons first started many years ago, it has been detected as far back as 10,000

used in World War I, by the Germans infecting the Allies horses and cattle with various microbes on
both the western and eastern fronts ( ). Even though biological weapons were used for many years, it
does not justify their used. Biological weapons can cause mass deaths, and they can widespread

Small Business Technology By Bill Simms
Small Business Technology
It was an ordinary Thursday evening in suburban Richmond, Virginia. 7PM. Bill Simms makes a right
turn on to the expressway ramp in a bid to make it on time to meet his wife for his daughter s ballet
recital. He was happy that his new painting business was beginning to thrive. After being laid off, it
came as a big relief that private home and small business clients were starting to find him. Though he
always had a general affinity for painting, owning a painting company is not what he imagined doing
for a living. Still, it was a blessing that was now manifesting as a provident financier of ballet slippers.
Although Bill s background was in corporate marketing, he experienced a major learning curve when
it came to pitching and selling business services. He soon realized the impact of not having experience
as a painter or small business owner. At the start, he received most of his assistance from friends,
family, and his wife. Everyone would pitch in to keep up with the back office operations and work
flow. As the company grew and became successful, his makeshift team became overwhelmed and
thinned out into a two man team. His wife, a local teacher, assisted as best as possible with paperwork
while he was in the field servicing clients, but after only a short period of time, both were
overwhelmed with generating proposals, quotes, revisions, and invoices. The paperwork portion of
running the business became a full time job in and of

Defining Psychological Disorders
Defining psychological disorders. Psychological disorders are behavior patterns that lead to inability
to function properly in life. There are quite a number of mental disorders but I will only focus on
attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder because it is the most studied mental disorder and the most
frequently diagnosed disorder especially in children. This disorder causes inability to pay attention,
difficulty in controlling one s behaviors or causes one to be excessively active. A lot of misleading
information about this disorder is everywhere in the communities and even the society. Some do not
even believe it is real and therefore it is important to understand what this disorder is. Patients with
these disorders will mostly act without thinking and therefore impacting on their families and loved
ones. The actual cause of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders is not known but other factors may
be a trigger. These factors may include genetics, the society and the environment (Joel 2006). Some
medical conditions and previous brain infections or cases of trauma. It normally runs in families, with
factors such as exposure to alcohol, toxic chemicals or at times premature birth may lead to the
disorder. Diagnosis is done by a set of criteria but begins by assessing the behaviors of a person in
childhood, and their mental development. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tesco Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Marketing is essentially a matching process between the needs and expectations of customers, and the
organization s ability and capacity to satisfy them.
One of the main points of this process is the marketing planning.
The purpose of marketing planning and its principal focus are the identification and creation of
competitive advantage. Marketing planning is the planned application of marketing resources to
achieve marketing objectives.

Add to that a high rate of unemployment causes a drop in effective demand for goods, that demand
requiring for the production of goods.
While these economic factors are largely outside the control of Tesco, they have an undeniable impact
on the company business performance and its marketing decisions.
Tesco operates in a global world and is now located in several countries, and this international
business is still growing, but it remains dependent on the UK market. This excessive concentration on
a single market exposes them to risks and would be negatively affected by any slowdown in the UK
food market (as the crisis of mad cow in the 1990s)
Finally, the economic crisis, which is still current, tends to reduce the purchasing power of consumers,
who are much more reluctant and afraid to spend more than they can.
New technologies have had a great impact. For instance, online shopping has become a major factor in
Tesco s recent success.
Technology is the basis for the development of many products in the Tesco range. These new
technologies have provided consumers than the company itself.
Consumer satisfaction is higher because services are more personalized and responsive to each and
shopping becomes more enjoyable and seems less arduous. To obtain customer satisfaction, Tesco has
put in place in its stores the following technologies:

characters are quite different. CR, the child over whom the narrator can exercise adult authority is shy,
listens to stories, takes baths and plays with toys while the CR the character is the main authority, goes
to parties, expeditions and heroic rescue missions.
CR the character seems to possess similar characteristics of the adult narrator. The adult narrator is not

and amusing mistakes from which they will eventually learn. By appointing this position of authority
to CR the character suggests that the narrator not only appeals to CR the listener and other listeners
but also gives them a character to strive to be like. This then leads to another characteristic of CR the
character as nurturing as something that listeners could strive to be like.
Just as the adult narrator is concerned about CR the listener s sensitive emotions and vulnerability, CR

Gender In The Film Tomboy
Celine Sciamma s 2011 film Tomboy both repudiates the idea that gender has an innate basis, as well
as suggests the futility of endeavoring to transgress gender norms, due to them being embedded to
society, in addition to being internalized by people. In this paper, I will initially elaborate on scenes
from the film depicting Laure s adoption of what would be societally viewed as male behaviors, which
results in conveying the message that external gendered performance and behavior are not necessarily
compatible with one s natural sex. In other words, Sciamma implies that gender is not inherent, nor is
it in immanent conjunction with sex. I will then proceed by commenting on the way in which the film
sheds light on the vast paradox that lies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Darren Waldron observes, Laure s behavior indicates that external codes of what is universally
considered masculine conduct, are incorporated into her outward demeanor, thereby indicating that
those signs have in fact no innate grounding in boys . For instance, in several scenes, the audience
witnesses Laure casually engage in playing football with the rest of the neighborhood boys, in which
she excels equally well, spit, and sprint. Furthermore, I would suggest that the fact that, in one
particular scene, Laure gets involved in a physical fight with another boy and overpowers him using
techniques she has carefully observed, further challenges the assumption of the existence of a
supposedly predetermined set of gender based behaviors. Furthermore, more importantly, a
momentous scene that takes place in the bathroom, where Laure adds a prosthetic object to make it
seem like a penis for the purpose of continuing to pose as Mickael in a pool meeting with the other
children, strongly suggests perhaps the most quintessential signifier of masculinity, the phallus, may in
fact as well be constructed. It also further enervates the power that biological sex supposedly holds
over determining the identity and actual mental state of being of a person.

Graphically Representing Data
Within a School Setting
Christopher M. Lightfoot Abstract
This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables that are
represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are interpreted within two
types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first type of data set that is mentioned is a
discrete nominal data set that is graphically displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which displays the
reoccurrence of each category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The second data type
referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple frequency table. The
simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a pie chart (see Figure 2),
which measures the percentages within a four point Likert Scale (see Table 3). The final data source is
a continuous interval set, which was interpreted through a cumulative frequency table (see table 4).
The cumulative frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3 as a combination of a histogram
(which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter points (to identify the cumulative
percentage between all of the class intervals).
Graphically Representing Data
Within a School Setting
The creation of frequency distribution tables allows for the conversion of the data within the set into a
dramatic graphic representation. Research from the

Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
In Margaret Atwood s Oryx and Crake, she describes a frightening dystopian futuristic society that
consists of the compounds and the pleeblands. The compounds are home to wealthier class, that work
in industrial plants during the day and enjoy the shopping malls and fancy dining at night. The
pleeblands are nearly the exact opposite. Snowman, the main character of the novel and former
inhabitant of the compounds, describes them as disease infested, drug ridden ghettos. These two
communities could not be further separated. Unfortunately, it appears as if Margaret Atwood s
dystopia is upon us. In Slavoj Zizek s Violence, we are reminded of the time period just several years

Zizek is trying to address a systemic problem of objective violence that is a result of global isolation
and division. He writes on page 102, This new racism of the developed is in a way much more brutal
than the previous ones: its implicit legitimisation is neither naturalist (the natural superiority of the
developed West) nor any longer cultural (we in the West want to preserve our cultural identity), but
unabashed economic egotism. The fundamental divide is one between those included in the sphere of
(relative) economic prosperity and those excluded from it (102). This quote perfectly describes the
global epidemic that we now face, where the global community is so fixated on building walls and
turning our heads to those who do not fit our mold. What is more frightening, however, is that
economic egotism along with racial and sociological isolation is happening on a domestic basis. It s
not as simple as national pride and desire to keep our cultural intact, as Zizek notes. Rather, in the
United States, seen first hand in New Orleans, there is a blatant rejection for those who are not on the
same economic and social platform as ourselves(102). In Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood illustrates
a fantastical world with compounds and pleeblands. Over the course of the book the reader is given
many images of the pleeblands. A good example is when

Witchcraft Satan Woship, or Just another Religion?
In today s society, new religions are popping up all over the place. One of the oldest, yet fastest
growing faiths today is witchcraft. This earth based, nature oriented belief has been established since
the thirteenth century, but it is not until recently that it has began to spread across the world.
Everywhere we look we see something associated with the practice of wicca. The movie, Blair Witch
Project, is one example of the growing belief in spells, charms, and covens. However, there are many
people who disapprove of this practice and are labeling it as a false religion. ; Christians, for example,

Basically, it was people who were lonely or were considered to be outcasts. There were also Indian
slaves and anti Christians who were accused of witch craft because of their different point of views.
However, sometimes, everyday people were accused because of their superstitions like knocking on
wood. ; The church saw them as those who didn t put their complete faith in God, and so therefore,
were considered to be witches.
There are many different types of witchcraft, or wicca. Sometimes, it is simply just charms and spells
that people chant. These spells can be considered either good or bad, depending on the purpose of the
hex. The magic used in witchcraft can also vary. It basically comes down to either black magic, which
is meant to do harm, or white magic, which is only meant to heal and help.
In the Bible it is clearly stated that witchcraft is wrong. There are many different chapters and verses
in the Bible that reveal this. Obviously, God does not want his people to be hand in hand with sin, but
the question still remains: Is witch craft tied to Satanism and evil? Many say yes, but many say no as
well. By viewing the facts about witchcraft, one can decide for themselves.
The exact time when witchcraft originated is unknown, but experts say it all began to become noticed
as an evil practice around the 13th century. During this time, the church slightly tolerated the practice
of magic, but as the 14th century moved

PART I The Elasmobranchs are a subclass of class Chondrichthyes. The Chondrichthyes are classified
as the Cartilaginous fishes. Aside from the Elasmobranchs, this class has another subclass named
Holocephali which is comprised of the chimaera. The Elasmobranchs are comprised of sharks
(Selachii) and the rays and the similarly structured skates (Batoidea) Van Eyl, S. M., Siebeck, U. E.,
Champ, C. M., Marshal, J., Hart, N. S. (2011). There have been fossils of sharks found dating about
400 million years and while there is much data that points to diversification throughout the millennia,
skates and rays only appear about 200 100 million years ago (Wilga 2005). The Elasmobranchs are
classified apart from other fishes despite their external similarities due to several key structural
differences. One of these is the absence of a swim bladder. True fishes use this gas filled organ to
control their buoyancy without having to waste physical energy on maintaining the desired depth in
water. Instead, the Elasmobranchs have developed especially large livers that can produce and
withhold large amounts of oil. This is especially evident in the sharks where the liver can sometimes
weigh up to 20 percent of their total body weight. Further characteristics that define the Elasmobranch
subclass include placoid scales or dermal denticles. These are homologous to true scales in function
but are closer in structure to teeth (hence their name). The scales are comprised of a pulp cavity

The Dust Bowl
It started off as a normal day for the Johnson boys, They woke up, ate breakfast and headed off to the

in the midwest to do this. The Dust Bowl affected people s way of life in the Midwest forcing them to
migrate to California in search of a job and food.
For years the Dust Bowl traveled the southern plains making the everyday activities not so simple.
According to a English Professor at University of Illinois, Cary Nels on, the dust bowl lasted about a

Staphylococcus Aurosis Research Papers
Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogen of more importance due to rise in resistance to antibiotic (Lowy,
1998).It is different from the CoNS (e.g. S. epidermidis), and more venomous despite their phylogenic
similarity (Waldvogel, 1990; Projan and Novick, 1997). CoNS when grown on solid media form
translucent white color colonies (Howard and Kloos, 1987). Genome databases to date the
staphylococcus aureus have been completed for 7 strains, MRSA, 8325, MSSA COL, MW2, N315,
and Mu50. S. aureus genome average size is 2.8Mb (Kuroda et al., 2001). S. aureus cell wall is 20 40
nm thick a hard protective coat, which is generally unstructured in appearance (Shockman and Barrett,
1983). Under the cell wall is the cytoplasm that is enclosed by the cytoplasmic ... Show more content

Cell wall teichoic acid and cell membrane associated lipoteichoic acid are two types of teichoic acids;
are inserted in the bacterial lipid membrane or covalently bound to the peptidoglycan. These acids
provide a negative charge to the cell surface of staphylococcus and play an important role in the
activities of autolytic enzymes the localization of metal ions especially divalent cations and
acquisition (Wilkinson, 1997). These two components only accounts for about 90% of cell wall mass,
remaining is composed of exoproteins, autolysins and surface proteins. These components are
virulence determinants and are involved in bacterial attachment to surfaces (Karakawa and Vann,
1982; Thakker et al., 1998). Staphylococcus aureus has three virulence determinant production
regulators that regulate the expression of different proteins necessary for growth are agr, sar and sae

Examples Of The Seven Stages Of Grief
When someone looses a loved one, they will go through the seven stages of grief. In Extremely Loud
and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, Oskar goes through the seven stages of grief after his
dad dies on September 11th, 2001. Throughout the novel, Oskar goes through all of the seven stages.
In stage one, Shock and Denial people will react to the loss with disbelief. They will deny the reality
of the loss in order to avoid the pain. People will use this as a shield to block out the fact of their loss
and not want to talk about the situation and/or person because it will make them miss or feel sad about
it. Oskar can be shown to be in this stage when he hides the voicemails from when his dad on the
worst day, For example, I opened the apartment door, put down my bag, took my shoes off, like
everything was wonderful, because I didn t know that in reality everything was horrible, I went to the
phone to check the messages and listened to one after another paragraph 2, page 68. . He doesn t want
anyone else to hear them so he goes to the store to buy a new phone then recorded a greeting from the
first phone onto it. Oskar wrapped up the old phone in a scarf and put in a grocery bag and put it in his
closet so no one could find it.
Another example of Oskar showing Shock and Denial is when he s in the store and he looks at a piece
of paper where they write their names to see what the color of the ink looks like. While Oskar is
looking at it , he see s his dad s name on it, written in red ink. Oskar is shocked that it s on there and
denies and feels sad about it. When he looks at it, without hesitation, Oskar asked the manager when
did his dad write that and other questions like, why and how could he go to that store just to write his
name on everything. Oskar tried to make him believe that his dad went to the store.
In stage two, Pain and Guilt, as the shock wears off, it is replaced with the suffering of unbelievable
pain. People tend to hide it, avoid it or escape from it, they tend to replace it with alcohol and drugs.
Life feels chaotic and scary during this phase. Oskar can be shown in this stage by when he gives
himself bruises. For example, when Oskar was listening to the last voicemail

Florence Nightingale
Nursing is a job we would consider a very selfless job. It s a job that requires you to be at your best at
every moment because someone s life or well being is depending on you. Long shifts may get you
tired, you may not have a lunch break because you are working non stop but you could care less. All
you care about is impacting the lives of others. You are constantly putting others before yourself.
Florence Nightingale was a remarkable woman who did exactly this. Nightingale was born in Florence
Italy, on May 12, 1820. She discovered she wanted to be a nurse early in her lifetime because as a
teenager in 1837 she received a divine calling to do God s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She would go check on soldiers at all hours of the night going through the dark halls carrying a lamp.
The soldiers eventually started giving her nicknames like The Lady with the Lamp and The Angel of
the Crimean . Florence advised the army on sanitary conditions in India during and after the Indian
Mutiny in 1857. This led to the establishment of a Sanitary Department within the Indian government.
Her reports and testimony to others on sanitary conditions of the army led to a lot of improvements
that also led to opening an army medical college in 1861. Florence also intended to write a book to
help others on practicing how to become a nurse and how nursing can be used in future preferences.
Aside from all of that Florence helped establish many nursing organizations throughout her whole life.
Doing what she did for others she won awards for the work that she did. In the 1870 s, she mentored
Linda Richards, the first professionally trained American nurse, who established nurse training
programs in the U.S. and Japan. In late 1954 s, Nightingale Received a letter from the secretary of War
Sidney Herbert, asking for her to organize a corps of nurses to aid to the sick and fallen soldiers. She
gathered 34 nurses and sailed with them to Crimea a few days after.
Florence Nightingale was an influential figure in the development of modern nursing. When Florence
Nightingale was employed no uniforms were created during the Crimean War. Both nursing role and
education were first defined by Florence Nightingale she was honored in many ways before she had
past away. On May 10, 1910, she was awarded the badge of honour of the Norwegian Red Cross
Society. Three days later Florence Nightingale died in London on August 13, 1910. She died at the age
of 90 and buried in her family s

Man s Relationship to the Land in John Steinbeck s Grapes...
Man s relationship to the land undergoes a transformation throughout John Steinbeck s Grapes of
Wrath. Initially, back in Oklahoma, each family feels a strong attachment to the land because the
ancestors of these farmers fought and cleared the Indians out of the land, made it suitable for farming,
and worked year after year in the fields so that each generation would be provided for. Passing down
the land to successive generations, the farmers come to realize that the land is all that they own. It is
their family s source of sustenance. However, the strong bond between man and the land is broken
when the bank comes to vacate the tenants during hard times.
The tractors hired by the bank literally tear down the bond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Each generation feels a personal connection to the land because the land is how each generation
makes its living, no matter how big the piece of land may be. In an inter chapter, a tenant farmer
explains to the tractor driver, who is evicting his family, the special bond between man and the land:
If a man owns a little property, that property is him, it s part of him, and it s like him. If he owns
property only so he can walk on it and handle it and be sad when it isn t doing well, and feel fine when
the rain falls on it, that property is him, and some way he s bigger because he owns it. Even if he isn t
successful he s big with his property. That is so. (50)
Through the landowner, Steinbeck reveals that the welfare and happiness of each of the Oklahoman
farmers were dependent on the output of the land and its physical condition. The farmers do not ask
for much from the land. The land is their way of making the world seem small in comparison to their
farms, because to them, their farms are the world. Due to this, the condition of the land dictates the
emotions expressed and moods displayed by the farmers. It is implied that the farmers understand that
the land all that they own, and if they do not treat it as such, their only source of hope for sustaining
for their families is gone. The tenant farmer goes on to explain how the land controls the fate of the
family and how man must serve the

The Discovery Of The Fossil Species Essay
Is there a subspecies of Homo sapiens that lived complete opposite lives as us? Did we cause them to
go extinct or did we live and interbreed with them? I will be discussing aspects of the species Homo
neanderthalensis who lived alongside Homo sapiens and may have even interbred with them. I will be
focusing specifically on the discovery of the fossil species, where the species is in the human ancestral
tree, anatomical similarities and differences with Homo sapiens, and the lifestyle and extinction of the
Neanderthals.
The first fossil found, named Neanderthal 1, was found in 1856 in Germany. The name Homo
neanderthalensis was suggested by Geologist William King, because the fossil was found in the
Feldhofer Cave of the Neander Valley in Germany and tal (a modern version of thal) means valley in
German. (Smithsonian) Some people refer to the species as Neandertal, with no h, to reflect modern
German spelling. Several years after Neanderthal 1 was found, scientists realized that earlier
discoveries in Engis, Belgium (1829) and Forbes Quarry, Gibraltar (1848) were also Neanderthals,
putting the actual discovery date at 1829. Other key specimens are Le Moustier, France (of a 45,000
year old skull which had Neanderthal features in an adolescent individual proving these characteristics
were genetic and not developed during their life), Lagar Velho in Abrigo do Lagar Velho, central
western Portugal (a 24,000 year old skeleton described as a Neanderthal Homo sapien hybrid),

Use of Imagery
Discuss the use of imagery in two stories of your choice. How do the various images work in a
particular story to bring its subject matter into focus? Is there a central image? And how does this
enhance or confuse or complicate the effect of the story?
Short fiction can be seen as a literary medium through which the writer concisely creates a story that
is almost as fleeting in its detail, as it is in its length of words. Imagery can be used in varying
manners depending on what the writer is trying to achieve. In the short story Sleepy by Anton
Chekhov, we see a more vivid and palpable type of imagery that s almost figurative and has the ability
to lull the reader into sharing the protagonist s feelings rather than just her ... Show more content on

Although somewhat subtle, the idea that this ball is Leila s first seems to be the central image of the
story, as Mansfield returns to it throughout the narrative. We see Leila continually informing her dance
partners that It is really the first dance I ve ever been to and she dwells on it obsessively; It seemed to
her that she had never known what the night was like before. Up till now it had been dark, silent [...].
However even when focusing on this central image, Mansfield seems to withdraw from it and return
to the dazzling settings, as though only willing to stroke the surface of this concept.
Mansfield s description throughout the narrative is intriguing and captivating, pulling the reader into
the drill hall and making them sway to the oft, melting, ravishing tune as though they themselves
could have been Leila. Moreover, her use of description allows her to create the character of the fat
man and utilise him to portray the idea that happiness [doesn t] last for ever. Because she describes
him as the fat man, who is old and wearing a coat that looked dusty with French chalk , she creates an
evident contrast between the beautiful characters she initially described. Through this imagery,
Mansfield subtly portrays Leila s fears of losing the beauty of this first ball and emphasises that in
fact, beauty doesn t last. However, Mansfield plunges the reader back in to the dance, such that the

  • 3. Role Strain Vs Role Conflict When looking at society introspectively, it is evident that it functions on hierarchies. Social status can be defined as the level of prestige or relevance one possesses in society, while a status set is an assortment of responsibilities which stem directly from one s standing in society. Although each one occupies a certain position in society, one factor or position is paramount to the other, which is referred to as the master status(Steckley,2014). Meanwhile, social roles are obligations associated with a particular status, while a role set is a compilation of roles relevant to a particular status. In regards to roles, certain issues may arise which are known as role strain, and role conflict. A Role strain arises when two or more roles create direct conflict pertaining to a particular status (Steckley, 2014). Although similar to a role strain, role conflict differs as it is the rigidity of requirements expected between multiple statuses (Steckley, 2014). After establishing the definition of a status, it can be further condensed into two categories; ascribed and achieved. An ascribed status is what an individual inherits from birth or uncontrolled, whereas an achieved status is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Analysis Of Chaim Potok s The Chosen, Verbal... Since the beginning of time, humans have endeavored to express their thoughts to other humans. Early on, humans may have expressed their thoughts through only body language and primitive grunts; however, as civilization progressed, humans developed intelligible language. From development of that early language, written language was sprouted. From some development of that written language, other forms of communication came into being. Today, many forms of communication exist; however, all of them center around verbal communication. In Chaim Potok s critically acclaimed novel, The Chosen, verbal communication, or the lack thereof, is a main theme. The lack of communication, silence, in The Chosen is used by Potok not only to show the suffering of his characters but also to symbolize the struggles of the Jewish people. Potok uses silence prominently in The Chosen to show isolation. Both of the protagonists in the book experience an isolating silence; for example, the silence imposed upon Danny is a main component of the novel s plot. Danny s pain and isolation is caused by his father s silence toward him. Reb Saunders, Danny s father, doesn t speak with Danny because he believes that being silent toward Danny is what is best for him; however, the other characters of the book see only that the silence causes Danny suffering. Reb s silence toward Danny would seem cruel in a normal situation, but in Danny s situation, it seems to be atrocious. In the forties, being a Jew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis of Bluebird Essay Analysis of Bluebird English A. Bluebird is a poem written by the modern poet Charles Bukowski and published in 1992 in Bukowski s collection of poems titled The Last Night of the Earth Poems . The poem is about the vulnerability, innermost torment and the suppression of an emotional and fragile personality symbolized through the image of a Bluebird hidden inside the speakers mind. The composition of the poem is very loose with only two stanzas and a lot of verse lines, some of which only consists of one word. The verse lines with only one word suggest that the reader also has to interpret the way the poem is read; not only the message and theme. Bluebird also has an unusual graphical look that confine, just like Bukowski s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He saw the inside of most American bars, was abused as a child and had a face that was scared by pocks. Against all odds Bukowski became a renowned, but provocative, poet. The stigma created by his history and habits, is a stigma that saw Bukowski as a whoring and numb figure, but in the symbolic value of a bluebird Bukowski tries to tell us that he has a caring personality hidden deep inside him. Bukowski feared the reaction from the public if he let the inner bluebird out, but the inner bluebird also tormented Bukowski himself. It s not only the society s stigma that made Bukowski keep the bluebird in, but also the very self destructive view Bukowski had on himself. A self destructive view, backed up by his self destructive drinking and treatment of his own body. there s a bluebird in my heart that/wants to get out/but I m too tough for him,/ say, stay in there, I m not going/to let anybody see you. • 6. How Media Frame Shape Their Framing When Reporting On... Abstract Reason for writing: Why is this research important? Problem: What problem does this work attempt to solve? What is the main argument? Methodology: An abstract of a scientific work may include specific models or approaches used. Other abstracts may describe the types of evidence used in the research. Introduction The framing techniques that media utilizes can be telling of the source of the reporting and can also be beneficial in discerning public opinion on domestic and foreign affairs. What the media reports on as well as how they present their reports are often consistent with their host countries interests, but it is my belief that differences occur when reporting on similar issues in foreign countries. The goal of this research is to discover how media frame stories differently with respect to geography, and to unearth possible patterns and themes in framing while exposing and explaining any anomalies. This leads to the main question of how do media outlets adjust their framing when reporting on domestic versus international protests? In short, what role does proximity play in framing strategies? Protests are a type of political discourse and demonstration that are not unique to any region or country, even though their subject matter may be. In the following study, I will analyze existing research to focus on protests and movements such as the Occupy movement, Gezi protests, Arab Spring, Framing in the constructionist paradigm Goffman describes frames ... • 8. The Beauty Of Computer Science And Computer Engineering Introduction: Ever since I was a grade schooler, I enjoyed experimenting with Linux terminal coding and programming on my computer. I can t forget the very first moment that a simple program I developed started to work correctly. The beauty of computer science and computer engineering lies in the notion that even with the numerous innovations in the field, there does exist plenty of room for improvement. Watching and following the latest trends in the area of embedded systems, robotics, security and other related fields, I became conscious of the fact that these would be the focus of the present century. • 9. Human Prostitution And Human Trafficking Horrifying, simply horrifying. The reading was difficult. I must say I was not surprised by it though. The situations mentioned in the text are all too familiar to me. I used to volunteer at children s homes, as well as homeless shelters. I heard all the stories of human trafficking and prostitution in children. I meet the girls and I got to know the victims. My heart broke for them. I remember one little girl by the name of Andy that started prostitution at the age of 12 and then was almost killed. It is a sick thing. • 10. Negative Impact On Communication In my life so far, the top three most influential technologies for communication have been e mail, texting (including group texting), and social media (primarily Facebook). E mail has shaped my life positively by being able to communicate professionally. Whether I need to communicate via e mail with bosses, colleagues, or coworkers; e mail has been an essential tool to be able to do so professionally, especially when face to face is not an option. A way that e mail has had a negative impact on my life is if I neglect it. Even when you are on vacation, out with family, or sick in bed; the e mails keep coming and the pile up can be overwhelming to get through. This is especially true when you are managing multiple e mail accounts. Another negative impact is when e mail is the only type of communication with someone. Through my experience, I have found that you can only say so much through written words, especially through email. The best communication with people goes through multiple mediums, of talking in person (or on the phone) as well as through e mail. Texting has had a big impact on my life. I grew up without a phone, however, in my last years of high school my parents bought me one. Since then, texting has been a crucial way of communicating with my friends, family, and peers. Texting, first of all is very convenient. Most people text back within a couple hours and it allows for informal conversation. Group texting has played a key part in my life as well. Group ... • 12. Analysis Of My Life The small, ethnically decorated room was filled with genuine laughter, echoing through the hallway. It was the first thing I heard when I entered the room. A loud group of friends sat on the dusty, brown couch in the middle of the room. The studs on their distressed jeans reflected the ceiling light that shined into my eyes. The scent of the warm, Turkish coffee they were drinking lingered across the room. Dozens of motivational posters covered the walls. There was a Moroccan inspired gold and black trim that hung along the ceiling. I heard the mellow beat of a tabla, which is a popular musical instrument all across the Middle East and South Asia. She returned a few minutes later, and was ready to continue the interview. This might be a sensitive subject. Do you know if this facility has ever suffered from hate crimes or violence? I asked nervously. I feel like the facility didn t receive any, but individuals have. I don t think people intend to attack the Middle Eastern Student Center because it s just a resource center. It s just there to provide resources. I m pretty sure our director faces difficulties in bringing up issues facing Middle Eastern culture and things like that because people don t really care, and we re such a small minority, Tamara said. I already knew that xenophobia and Islamophobia were relevant, but it still surprised me that many individuals had to deal with such hatred. Tamara also brought up how many students of Middle Eastern descent or those who practiced Islam came to the center for counseling and support after the brutal terrorist attack in France in late 2015. Many students reported being taunted by racist comments because they wore a hijab or a beard. Despite this unfortunate event, it did bring the community together, and closer than they were before. Theseus And Phaedr The Value Of Family Loyalty The value of family loyalty is important in any given society whether it s from 800 B.C. to 2016, granted not all families work together the family members that show loyalty to one another tend to be set up for admiration. All these different relationships are what makes a family, whether it s the loyalty between Theseus and Phaedra or you re Theseus cursing his son into exile. The Athenian hero Theseus, took part in many adventures and so many enterprises. He helps the Argives after the War of the Seven against Thebes, when the Thebans refused to allow the defeated to bury their dead, he helps Oedipus and his daughters, and prevents Hercules from killing himself after his insanity. Even though that wasn t showing loyalty to his own son he was showing loyalty to his wife. I believe that this would still apply to today s society or at least should apply. There are so many stories of women not being believed when they share their story of rape which is awful. Like any good human should, one would hope that the woman s story is the side taken and the offender sent into exile. Another example of Theseus showing his loyalty is to his father when he goes on his quest to find him. It s pretty uncommon for a child to want to go find their father after he abandoned him his whole life. But he understands the importance of loyalty to his family. This commonly relates to kids that grow up without a parent or parents that choose to go and find them, despite the abandonment. • 14. The Bonaventure Pine, 1893, Paul Signac It was 3 o clock on a tuesday. Seeing that it was nearing closing time, all exhibits in the museum were nearly empty. Room after room of artwork had no one in them, except for the few security guards scattered here and there. Wanting to see everything, I left behind my family and rushed through the vast museum. Each section of artworks offered everything from abstract splatters of paint, to ornate sets of furniture. One piece in particular caught my eye. Captured in a golden frame, the canvas held thousands of painstakingly placed dots. Pinks, blues, yellows, and greens all together in unity to form the image of a lopsided tree perched on top of a grassy hill. To the right of the painting a meager note card held the words, The Bonaventure Pine, 1893, Paul Signac. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real Time Communication capabilities via the use of simple JavaScript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC components have been built to serve that purpose. It has been termed as a disruptive innovation that has replaced the software installation or plug in functionality demanded by the old browsers. It can democratize and decentralize tools required for content creation and communication like telephony, gaming, video production, music making, news gathering and many other applications. It builds on the strength of the web browser and abstracts signalling by offering a simple state machine that maps directly to PeerConnection. This enables the web developers to choose their own signalling protocols for their usage scenario. Ultimately, its flexibility and ability to download JavaScript will change the way Real Time Communication happens in the future. 1. INTRODUCTION Real Time Communications (RTCs) had a beginning with the dedicated Telephone networks before they evolved to use the Internet with Telecom type Servers . CR is described by the narrator as one of the `nicest people . He is an emotional, warm and loving child as he `rushes into the bears arms . Showing sensitivity to Winnie the Pooh s feelings, CR humours Pooh when he plays along with his rain cloud idea so as not to criticize and hurt his feelings. When Pooh sticks in Rabbit s hole, CR reads stories to comfort the bear. • 36. Gender In The Film Tomboy Celine Sciamma s 2011 film Tomboy both repudiates the idea that gender has an innate basis, as well as suggests the futility of endeavoring to transgress gender norms, due to them being embedded to society, in addition to being internalized by people. In this paper, I will initially elaborate on scenes from the film depicting Laure s adoption of what would be societally viewed as male behaviors, which results in conveying the message that external gendered performance and behavior are not necessarily compatible with one s natural sex. In other words, Sciamma implies that gender is not inherent, nor is it in immanent conjunction with sex. I will then proceed by commenting on the way in which the film sheds light on the vast paradox that lies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Darren Waldron observes, Laure s behavior indicates that external codes of what is universally considered masculine conduct, are incorporated into her outward demeanor, thereby indicating that those signs have in fact no innate grounding in boys . For instance, in several scenes, the audience witnesses Laure casually engage in playing football with the rest of the neighborhood boys, in which she excels equally well, spit, and sprint. Furthermore, I would suggest that the fact that, in one particular scene, Laure gets involved in a physical fight with another boy and overpowers him using techniques she has carefully observed, further challenges the assumption of the existence of a supposedly predetermined set of gender based behaviors. Furthermore, more importantly, a momentous scene that takes place in the bathroom, where Laure adds a prosthetic object to make it seem like a penis for the purpose of continuing to pose as Mickael in a pool meeting with the other children, strongly suggests perhaps the most quintessential signifier of masculinity, the phallus, may in fact as well be constructed. It also further enervates the power that biological sex supposedly holds over determining the identity and actual mental state of being of a person. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Graphically Representing Data And Distribution Tables That... Graphically Representing Data Within a School Setting Christopher M. Lightfoot Abstract This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables that are represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are interpreted within two types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first type of data set that is mentioned is a discrete nominal data set that is graphically displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which displays the reoccurrence of each category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The second data type referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple frequency table. The simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a pie chart (see Figure 2), which measures the percentages within a four point Likert Scale (see Table 3). The final data source is a continuous interval set, which was interpreted through a cumulative frequency table (see table 4). The cumulative frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3 as a combination of a histogram (which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter points (to identify the cumulative percentage between all of the class intervals). Graphically Representing Data Within a School Setting The creation of frequency distribution tables allows for the conversion of the data within the set into a dramatic graphic representation. The compounds are home to wealthier class, that work in industrial plants during the day and enjoy the shopping malls and fancy dining at night. The pleeblands are nearly the exact opposite. Snowman, the main character of the novel and former inhabitant of the compounds, describes them as disease infested, drug ridden ghettos. These two communities could not be further separated. Unfortunately, it appears as if Margaret Atwood s dystopia is upon us. Zizek is trying to address a systemic problem of objective violence that is a result of global isolation and division. He writes on page 102, This new racism of the developed is in a way much more brutal than the previous ones: its implicit legitimisation is neither naturalist (the natural superiority of the developed West) nor any longer cultural (we in the West want to preserve our cultural identity), but unabashed economic egotism. The fundamental divide is one between those included in the sphere of (relative) economic prosperity and those excluded from it (102). This quote perfectly describes the global epidemic that we now face, where the global community is so fixated on building walls and turning our heads to those who do not fit our mold. What is more frightening, however, is that economic egotism along with racial and sociological isolation is happening on a domestic basis. It s not as simple as national pride and desire to keep our cultural intact, as Zizek notes. Rather, in the United States, seen first hand in New Orleans, there is a blatant rejection for those who are not on the same economic and social platform as ourselves(102). In Oryx and Crake, Margaret Atwood illustrates a fantastical world with compounds and pleeblands. Over the course of the book the reader is given many images of the pleeblands. Everywhere we look we see something associated with the practice of wicca. The movie, Blair Witch Project, is one example of the growing belief in spells, charms, and covens. There are many different types of witchcraft, or wicca. Sometimes, it is simply just charms and spells that people chant. These spells can be considered either good or bad, depending on the purpose of the hex. The magic used in witchcraft can also vary. It basically comes down to either black magic, which is meant to do harm, or white magic, which is only meant to heal and help. In the Bible it is clearly stated that witchcraft is wrong. There are many different chapters and verses in the Bible that reveal this. Obviously, God does not want his people to be hand in hand with sin, but the question still remains: Is witch craft tied to Satanism and evil? Many say yes, but many say no as well. By viewing the facts about witchcraft, one can decide for themselves. Aside from the Elasmobranchs, this class has another subclass named Holocephali which is comprised of the chimaera. The Elasmobranchs are comprised of sharks (Selachii) and the rays and the similarly structured skates (Batoidea) Van Eyl, S. M., Siebeck, U. E., Champ, C. M., Marshal, J., Hart, N. S. (2011). There have been fossils of sharks found dating about 400 million years and while there is much data that points to diversification throughout the millennia, skates and rays only appear about 200 100 million years ago (Wilga 2005). The Elasmobranchs are classified apart from other fishes despite their external similarities due to several key structural differences. One of these is the absence of a swim bladder. True fishes use this gas filled organ to control their buoyancy without having to waste physical energy on maintaining the desired depth in water. Instead, the Elasmobranchs have developed especially large livers that can produce and withhold large amounts of oil. This is especially evident in the sharks where the liver can sometimes weigh up to 20 percent of their total body weight. Further characteristics that define the Elasmobranch subclass include placoid scales or dermal denticles. These are homologous to true scales in function but are closer in structure to teeth (hence their name). The scales are comprised of a pulp cavity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, Oskar goes through the seven stages of grief after his dad dies on September 11th, 2001. Throughout the novel, Oskar goes through all of the seven stages. In stage one, Shock and Denial people will react to the loss with disbelief. They will deny the reality of the loss in order to avoid the pain. People will use this as a shield to block out the fact of their loss and not want to talk about the situation and/or person because it will make them miss or feel sad about it. Oskar can be shown to be in this stage when he hides the voicemails from when his dad on the worst day, For example, I opened the apartment door, put down my bag, took my shoes off, like everything was wonderful, because I didn t know that in reality everything was horrible, I went to the phone to check the messages and listened to one after another paragraph 2, page 68. . He doesn t want anyone else to hear them so he goes to the store to buy a new phone then recorded a greeting from the first phone onto it. Oskar wrapped up the old phone in a scarf and put in a grocery bag and put it in his closet so no one could find it. Another example of Oskar showing Shock and Denial is when he s in the store and he looks at a piece of paper where they write their names to see what the color of the ink looks like. While Oskar is looking at it , he see s his dad s name on it, written in red ink. Oskar is shocked that it s on there and denies and feels sad about it. When he looks at it, without hesitation, Oskar asked the manager when did his dad write that and other questions like, why and how could he go to that store just to write his name on everything. Oskar tried to make him believe that his dad went to the store. In stage two, Pain and Guilt, as the shock wears off, it is replaced with the suffering of unbelievable pain. People tend to hide it, avoid it or escape from it, they tend to replace it with alcohol and drugs. Life feels chaotic and scary during this phase. Oskar can be shown in this stage by when he gives himself bruises. For example, when Oskar was listening to the last voicemail ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Initially, back in Oklahoma, each family feels a strong attachment to the land because the ancestors of these farmers fought and cleared the Indians out of the land, made it suitable for farming, and worked year after year in the fields so that each generation would be provided for. Passing down the land to successive generations, the farmers come to realize that the land is all that they own. It is their family s source of sustenance. If he owns property only so he can walk on it and handle it and be sad when it isn t doing well, and feel fine when the rain falls on it, that property is him, and some way he s bigger because he owns it. • 46. The Discovery Of The Fossil Species Essay Is there a subspecies of Homo sapiens that lived complete opposite lives as us? Did we cause them to go extinct or did we live and interbreed with them? I will be discussing aspects of the species Homo neanderthalensis who lived alongside Homo sapiens and may have even interbred with them. I will be focusing specifically on the discovery of the fossil species, where the species is in the human ancestral tree, anatomical similarities and differences with Homo sapiens, and the lifestyle and extinction of the Neanderthals. The first fossil found, named Neanderthal 1, was found in 1856 in Germany. The name Homo neanderthalensis was suggested by Geologist William King, because the fossil was found in the Feldhofer Cave of the Neander Valley in Germany and tal (a modern version of thal) means valley in German. (Smithsonian) Some people refer to the species as Neandertal, with no h, to reflect modern German spelling. Several years after Neanderthal 1 was found, scientists realized that earlier discoveries in Engis, Belgium (1829) and Forbes Quarry, Gibraltar (1848) were also Neanderthals, putting the actual discovery date at 1829. Other key specimens are Le Moustier, France (of a 45,000 year old skull which had Neanderthal features in an adolescent individual proving these characteristics were genetic and not developed during their life), Lagar Velho in Abrigo do Lagar Velho, central western Portugal (a 24,000 year old skeleton described as a Neanderthal Homo sapien hybrid), ...
