Costa del Sol Crusader's Lee, Amjid and
Harry down Málaga CC by 71 runs
CDS CRUSADERS
208-8: MALAGA
CC 137 all out
LEE led the way for the
Crusaders in Cartama
with a brilliant all-round
performance, with the bat
and ball, against a strong
Malaga CC that flickered
in the chase before event-
ually fizzling out.
Toss was the main fac-
tor at the Cartama Oval
on Sunday as the Cru-
saders won the toss and
batted first on a beautiful
batting wicket as Lee and
Matt Davey started the
proceedings for Cru-
saders. Waqas Ali with
the new ball got Matt Davey in
the very first over of the match
and Iggy Higgins soon followed
Matt Davey to the pavilion but
Lee was in absolutely devastat-
ing form and played an amaz-
ing innings with Amjid Ali who
played a second fiddle to Lee
with both scoring at a brisk
rate with a partnership of 108
runs between them.
Once Amjid was dismissed
captain Jesper joined Lee, pun-
By Egan Steven Dantis
ishing the Malaga bowlers by
scoring 9 runs an over.
Malaga bowlers were incon-
sistent in the middle overs as
they bowled 33 extras.
At one stage it looked like
the Crusaders were cruising to-
wards 230 but once both the
batsmen were dismissed in the
27th over by Imraan Butt the
Crusaders ended up on 208-8
off 30 overs which was a good
score.
Costa del Sol Crusaders (Lee
82, Amjid Ali 47, Waqas Ali 3-36,
and Imraan Butt 4-30).
Malaga CC had a mammoth
total to chase against a formi-
dable Crusaders attack. The up-
shot was that the match re-
mained evenly poised as Ma-
laga CC had a promising start
and Riaz Ahmed Butt played a
watchful innings with Adil at-
tacking the bowlers,
But the Crusaders' bowlers
got into the groove with
Matt Davey bowling a
good spell upfront with
Iggy Higgins, who
bowled an economic
spell claiming 2 wickets.
And then the middle
order woes for Malaga
CC continued, but once
Riaz Ahmed Butt and
Waqas Ali were dis-
missed their resistance
proved minimal as none
of the batsman resisted
the Crusaders' attack.
Harry did most of
the damage in the
middle overs as he
bowled good line and
lengths where run scor-
ing seemed a bit difficult
with some good fielding
by the Crusaders.
The batting mainstay for
Crusaders, Lee, was brought
into the attack and soon made
the impact by picking up 3
wickets in 2 overs.
Malaga were eventually
bowled out for 137 in the 25th
over falling short by 71 runs.
Malaga CC (Riaz Ahmed
Butt 39, Waqas Ali 17, Harry 3-
32 and Lee 3-10)
Lee was awarded man of the
match for his brilliant all
round show.
