A glorious day for golf, but a bit boring really
. No
one jumped in the water to rescue trolleys, clubs etc.
No one left the odd wedge, putter etc. propped up
against a tree, but it wasn’t boring for Harold Sims. He
was on fire. A great score of 42, his playing partners
said it should have been a lot more, just lost his concen-
tration a bit, understandable for an octogenarian!
The eclectic which finishes on the 17th is making
the pulse rate increase, the men are more than keen to
better their scores on the holes that matter, it will cer-
tainly be an exciting finish.
March 24th is going to be busy after the game. Prize
presentation for the eclectic, Tony Downey’s High 8
competition, a demonstration of CPR. All exciting
stuff. The latter is most important, so please attend,
you could be the one that needs help on the course!

Having foolishly announced the onset of spring a
couple of weeks ago, we arrived at Añoreta to a tempe-
rature of 14°C and a biting wind. Scoring was remarka-
bly good in the difficult conditions. Only 0·2 of a shot
separated the second, third and fourth teams but the
runaway winners posted an astounding gross 67 wit-
hout a single bogey
.
Agh well there’s always another day let’s get back to
the Club House!

conquer visiting Irish team, Greystones
Match 1:

Greystones 184-7(35)
Greystones Cricket Club, a visit-
ing Irish team travelled to Car-
tama Oval to play three matches
in two days. The visitors won
the toss against the home team
Nerja CC and elected to bowl
first and were soon in for a su-
prise with Nerja CC opening
batsmen Nasir Dar and Andrew
Ward in absolutely devastating
form. Both added 175 runs for
the first wicket in 27 overs
amassing a very strong start to
the innings. Nasir Dar scored
100 of 60 balls and Andrew Ward
scored 82 runs. Once both the
batsmen were dismissed the re-
maining batsmen faltered
against Greystones' bowlers as
they varied their line and length
in the final overs. Nerja CC lost 7
wickets for 51 runs, courtesy of
Suresh Girish 2-17 and Eric
Fury 3-49. Nerja CC ended up
scoring 231-8 off 35 overs.
Chasing a mammoth total
Greystones CC lost their first
wicket in the second over. Cap-
tain G. Taylor was bowled by
Egan Steven Dantis 3-17 who
bowled a good spell of spin bowl-
ing and reduced Greystones CC
to 57-4. But the suprise package
of the day was 12-year-old Harry

Scott who made an immediate
impact when he came to the
crease and started attcking the

really good spell in the middle,

ures of 2-11 of 6 overs. Harry

94 runs. As the run rate crept up
to13 runs an over, Harry was dis-

batted first in the 1st T20 open-
ing with Suresh Girsh giving a
good start to the team but he
was dismissed for 19 runs which
brought Mathew Davey to the
crease. Mathew scored an at-
tacking 55 off 32 balls.
Once he was dismissed, the
Greystones' batting fell behind
as run making seemed very dif-
ficult. Crusaders fielded bril-
liantly and bowled great line and
length. Rupesh Allulayial was
pick of the bowlers with 3-7 off 3
overs. Greystones scored 126-9
off 20 overs.
Crusaders had a small target
to chase and started well with
Lee Rickwood and Sam Boden
who kept the runs ticking. But
Lee retired hurt after scoring 12
runs which brought Amjid Ali
to the crease. Both batsmen were
set for a big score as they chased
the target with three overs to
spare. Sam Boden scored an un-
beaten 52 and Amjid Ali scored
32 runs.
Sam Boden was awarded the
Man of the Match for his un-
beaten 52 runs.

away to 49 in 5 overs as Iggy Hig-
gins and Egan Steven Dantis at-
tacked Greystones 'bowlers.

with 33 runs off 21 balls and
Iggy Higgins 32 off 18 balls.
Once the both batsmen were dis-

bowlers all over the park. Suresh
Girish was pick of the bowlers
who took 2-32 off 3 overs and
Eric Fury wth 1-27. Crusaders
scored 209-4 off 20 overs
Greystones CC tried to attack
Crusaders bowlers from the
word go as they had to chase a
huge total, but lost wickets at
regular intervals. Bastmen got
starts but could not convert it to
a big score, Matt Davey was the
only batsman who played an at-
tacking innings with 30 runs to
his name and was well sup-
ported by David Cavanagh with
unbeaten 22 runs, but it was not
enough to trouble the Crusaders
score of 209. Peter Gething took
3-18 and Jamie Riley 2-18. Grey-
stones CC fell short by 90 runs
they ended up scoring 119-7.
Peter Gething was adjudged
