Walking footballers raise
funds for local orphanage
On November 29th 2017, a char-
ity walking football match was
organised at Finca Naundrup
in Calahonda in aid of 'Cuidad
de los Ninos' in Malaga. The
Tournament was sponsored by
Central FM.
Gray Salt of ‘Walking Dead
WFC’, sponsored by Local Pest
Solutions, who play at Finca
Naundrup in Calahonda every
Wednesday night, organised
the event and Adam Chandler
of Walking Football Spain
brought two of his teams along
- WFS Marbella sponsored by
Bodyworks Health Clinic, who
play in Elviria every Thursday
morning and WFS San Pedro
sponsored by Fluent Finance
Abroad, who play in San Pedro
every Tuesday evening. Walk-
ing Dead WFC also fielded two
teams and the tournament was
also joined by Wigan Walkers
FC who were out in Spain on a
visit.
Each team played three
matches of 15 minutes dur-
ation and all the players do-
nated their usual match fee to
the charity
. An auction was
also held after the tournament
and a total of 600€ was raised
on the night. This sum was
added up to 1,000€ with
members of Walking Dead
WFC doing bag packing at Ice-
land supermarket.
Walking Football is football
played at walking pace with no
contact, making it safe for
people to play well into their
senior years. There are over
1,000 clubs in the UK alone and
it is becoming a very popular
sport amongst ex-pats across
the Costa del Sol.
