Inspired Pinatar Pirates crush Crusaders by
9 wickets to win the 2017 Cricket Festival
By Egan Steven Dantis
PINATAR at their most magnifi-
cent, swarmed all over the Costa
del Sol Crusaders to win the 2017
Cricket Festival by nine wickets
after losing to the Crusaders in
the group stage by 10 runs.
Other than the toss nothing
went the Crusaders' way as their
batsmen faltered against the best
bowling line up. Their batting
power had been the most signifi-
cant opening bid in the first
three matches of this tourna-
ment.
The first three games had
contained quite a lot of medi-
ocrity
, truth be reported, and not
surprisingly given that the ma-
jority of players had only a game
or two to acclimatize to playing
conditions and there was plenty
more mediocrity in this game,
until the Crusaders middle order
faltered to a paltry 92 all out off
16.5 overs in the finals.
Bittusingh and Saad Ali took
three wickets each. Only four
batsman crossed double figures
for the Crusaders. Pinatar came
out swinging like they did
throughout the whole tourna
-
ment, their approach uncompli-
cated. The openers Ravi Panchal
and Saad Ali were in no mood to
take the target lightly as they
punished bad balls and put on 68
for the first wicket in 7.2 overs.
Pinatar were in a hurry to finish
the game as they chased the tar-
get in 9.4 overs to lift the trophy
.
Crusaders 92-10 (J Hansen
20, N Dar 17, E Dantis 13, B
Singh 3-6, S Ali 3-26, H Singh 2-
11) lost to Pinatar Pirates 97-
1 (R Panchal 51*, S Ali 21, H
