James Riley and Nasir Dar consign
Fuengirola Lions to another defeat
Yet another unbeaten hundred for Nasir Dar, unbeaten half century for Guy Dumas, James
Riley’s four-for leads Costa Vikings to a big win
THIS was less a match than an
incisive analysis of Fuengirola
Lions weakness. In an amateur,
unthinking batting display,
Fuengirola Lions whimpered to
211 against the Costa Vikings,
who in turn felt no need to take
any risk, and waltzed to the tar-
get with eight wickets and nine
overs to spare.
Fuengirola Lions batted
first, and Afzal Shah , opening
with Nadeem Malik couldn’t
give their side the best possible
start. Only Ehthesham Khan 27
and Afzal Shah 23 crossed
double figures in the beginning.
Once they were dismissed the
hollowness of Fuengirola’s
middle order was on full dis-
play yet again as they lost quick
wickets to James Riley who
bowled brilliantly by varying
the pace and spun the ball
which yielded him 4 wickets for
amere 18 runs. Fuengirola
Lions were stumbling on 153 for
9. The last wicket pair of
Ahmed Gorrsi 21 and Tanveer
Ahmed 31 added 57 runs for the
last wicket which took them to
a respectable total of 211. Harry
scott took 2-28.
The Vikings captain Nasir
Dar and his batsmen could
launch an all-out attack right
from the outset was thanks to a
cracking bowling show led by
James Riley
. Nasir Dar has
been in the form of his life with
a one hundred and one fifty
prior to this game. His assault
also helped Guy Dumas slip
under the radar and knock the
ball around as Costa Vikings
scored easily
. Nasir Dar was in
devastating form, and Guy
Dumas at the other end was the
perfect foil to him. He took
Zaman Khan for 24 runs in the
over to bring up his hundred,
and from there on the Vikings
were coasting. With scoreboard
pressure non-existent, the Vik-
ings played as they wanted. In
the end, the win was a merciful
end to a sub-standard day for
Fuengirola Lions.
Fuengirola Lions 211 al-
lout (Ehthesham khan 27, Tan-
veer Ahmed 31, James Riley 4-18,
Harry Scott 2-28) lost to Costa
Vikings 211-2 ( Nasir Dar 100*,
Guy Dumas 50*, Tony Gray 1-14,
Don Diego 1-15) by 8 wickets
James Riley was awarded
Man of the Match for his 4-18.

ment of the Match award for
