CC in a high scoring
match
25th of February
Matt Davey’s allround show
stuns Nerja CC by 42 runs at
Cártama Oval.
Batting first on a sunny
day, the Costa del Sol Cru-
saders started well with a
opening stand of 82 runs be-
tween Matt Davey and Rob. As
Rob Martin fell for 22, Matt
continued scoring briskly
with Egan Dantis, with a 62
runs partnership between
them. As Matt fell short of his
century by four runs Costa
del Sol Crusaders managed to
put a good score of 218-6 off
30 overs. Nasir Dar from
Nerja CC took three wickets
and Alex bowled an economic
spell with one wicket.
Chasing 218, Nerja lost
three early wickets for 18
runs and were in trouble
courtesy of mystery spinner
James Riley claiming two
quick wickets and Jamie
Riley with one wicket denting
the top order. But the third
wicket partnership between
Nick Harvey and Ben Hick-
Busy weekend at the Cártama Oval
By Egan Steven Dantis ling of 110 runs kept them in
the chase. After Ben Hickling
was dismissed for 47 , it was
upto Nick Harvey to finish off
the game, but Captain Matt
Davey had different ideas as
he bought himself into the at-
tack and took three quick
wickets with a economic spell
as Nerja was short by 42 runs.
They ended up scoring 176-6
of 30 overs
CDSC 218-6 (Matt Davey 96,
Egan Steven Dantis 47) beat
Nerja CC 176-6 (Nick Harvey

MÁLAGA Cricket Club
win again Costa del
sol Crusaders in a low
scoring thriller
26th of February
On a sunny morning at Cár-
tama Oval Malaga CC won the
toss and sent Crusaders into
bat. Iggy Higgins and Amjid
Ali started the proceedings
for Crusaders with an open-
ing stand of 23 runs. As soon
as the opening stand was
broken by Mohammed Aslam
the collapse started for Cru-
saders. Some smart captaincy
by Riaz Butt helped the cause
as he bought on Waqas Ali (3-
24) for a short second spell
which changed the course of
the match. With steamy pace
and odd bouncers, he was the
bowler who caused the dam-
age,and was well supported
by Anees Khan who ended up
getting 3-17. There were 28
extras bowled by Málaga CC
as crusaders were bundled
out for 98 off 24.2 overs. With
Iggy Higgins top scoring with
22 runs and Egan Steven Dan-
tis scoring 16 runs.
Chasing the small target
Málaga were soon in trouble
at 18-3 off seven overs as Nick
Harvey(3-14) and Jesper
Hansen bowled with great
pace and accuracy. But a
small partnership in the
middle between Waqas Ali
and Anees Khan rescued
them from early danger there-
after some good spin bowling
by Iggy Higgins (3-25) pegged
them back as he turned the
match in favour of the Cru-
saders.. The bowlers from
Crusaders bowled good line
and lengths but bowled 32
extras which dented their
chances of winning the match
as there were a few drop
catches that didnt help the
cause. It was upto Adil who
finished the match with 10
n.o. as Málaga cruised home
by two wickets and five overs
to spare. With Anees Khan top
scoring with 19 runs, well
supported by Waqas Ali 14
runs.
Anees Khan was awarded
Man of the Match for his all-
round show with the bat and
bowl.
