clinch tournament for Crusaders
COSTA Crusaders were
crowned champions after they
beat Málaga Cricket Club and
Costa Vikings on Sunday
.
Costa Vikings had a forget-
table outing on debut this Sun-
day losing both their games
against Crusaders and Málaga
CC. Málaga lost against Cru-
saders and won convincingly
against the Vikings.
Crusaders won the first
match by 50 runs against Má-
laga after Málaga won the toss
and sent Crusaders to bat first.
Crusaders were in control of
the match after posting 168 on
the board. Captain Jesper
Hansen was the star of the
show as his all round perform-
ance helped Crusaders to
dominate Málaga.
Crusaders 168-4 (Amjid
Ali 26, Jesper Ali 54*, Jaime
Holmes 24, Waqas Ali 1-26,
Imran Butt 2-17) beat Má-
laga CC 118-8 Afzal 23, Riaz
Butt 27* Jesper Hansen 4-12,
Ashan Alwis 2-18).
The second match was
played between Costa Vik-
ings and Málaga CC. Málaga
batted first and posted 180-4
as Captain Asif Tarar im-
provised at the end with his
unorthodox batting skills.
Vikings lost quick wickets
as Málaga were at their
absolute best with their
premier fast bowler
Waqas Ali derailing the
Vikings with 3-24. Malaga
won by 116 runs.
Málaga CC 180-4 (Na-
deem 35, Asif 35, Afzal 25,
Kai 1-33, Elliot 2-13) beat
Costa Vikings 64-10 (Ajay
Merchant 18, Oshan 8, Ab-
raham 8, Waqas Ali 3-24,
Azeem Sikander 2-12).
The last T20 was a
thriller where Vikings posted a
respectable total of 158-7 when
Nushan Alwis scored a quick-
fire 62 off 34 balls with 4 sixes
in an over with Nasir Dar scor-
ing a brisk 30. Crusaders
started well and were in a spot
of bother when Nasir took 3
wickets in 4 balls missing his
hat-trick narrowly
. Crusaders
needed 22 off 2 overs and Egan
Dantis pulled off an amazing
victory for Crusaders with 3
balls to spare by finishing the
match with a boundary
.
