THE Crusader’s B team on Sat-
urday faced a pub side, Ashford
Cricket Club, from Ireland who
were on a holiday on the Costa
del Sol.
Crusaders batted first and
scored 139-4 off 25 overs as
batsmen had to retire out after
scoring 25 runs. Guy Dumas 20,
Andrew Ward 28, and James
Riley 20, made the bulk of the
scoring for the Crusaders. Tony
Buck and Charlie O’Neil took
one wicket apiece.
Ashford fell short by eight
runs after their batsmen were
tied down by the Crusaders in
the middle overs as they could-
n’t score freely
. Dermott Sor-
aghen 28 and Reece Kenyon 28
were the top scorers for Ash-
ford. For the Crusaders Jonas
Wilson and James Riley took
one wicket each.
Crusaders 139-4 (Guy

played between Crusaders and
Malaga Cricket Club followed
by Crusaders B vs Ashford
Cricket Club.
Crusaders batted first
against Malaga and were off to
an awful start after losing two
quick wickets. Amjid Ali 56 and
Jesper Hansen 57* steadied the
Crusaders in the middle overs
by scoring seven runs an over.
Crusaders ended up on 184-5
off 25 overs as they were pulled
back by Asif Tarar and Waqas
Ali in the death overs where
Crusaders looked set for an
over 200 score. Malaga CC were
in a commanding position till
the penultimate over as they
had to score just two runs of
the last over.
They say you should never
celebrate the victory until you
cross the line. Malaga CC were
boosted by the return to form
of Zaman Mohammed as he
smashed Crusaders bowlers all
over the park. Zaman Mo-
hammed scored a quickfire 78
and Afzal scored 42.
Needing two runs of the last
over Nasir Dar gave away one
run and took two wickets as the
match ended in a tie. Malaga
CC ended up scoring 184-7.

and Ashford CC where Cru-
saders won their third straight
toss and without any hesitation
batted first. Amjid Ali scored
his second consecutive half
century and Ashanalwis scored
a quickfire 39.
For Ashford Bart Connelly
took one wicket and Charlie
O’Neil took two wickets. Cru-
saders scored 179-4 off 20
overs. Ashford had a daunting
task to chase, 180 off 20 overs,
and were never in the game
with some brilliant bowling
from the father son duo,
James and Jaime Riley
