1. Cártama bows down to Jesper Hansen's
masterclass in a record run chase
Jesper Hansen scores yet another hundred, fifties for Nadeem Malik and Zaman Muhammed
JESPER Hansen’s innings was
the highlight of the day at the
Cártama oval as he managed to
take Crusaders over the line by
successfully chasing down the
target of 258 with ease. Jesper’s
innings was played in two dis-
tinct phases, as he motored to 50
in 32 balls with scarcely believ-
able levels of ease, before he
smashed the Málaga CC bowlers
in the company of Guy D and
Nasir Dar to score his third
hundred of the year.
No bowlers were spared as
Jesper Hansen smacked eight
huge sixes and eight boundaries
to end up on 131 not out. Earlier,
Crusaders were rocked early as
they lost both their openers in
quick succession. The 5th wicket
partnership between Nasir Dar
and Jesper Hansen of 101 took
Crusaders over the line with 4
wickets in hand and 27 balls to
spare.Waqas Ahmed was pick of
the bowlers with 2-39.
Earlier in the day Málaga CC
won the toss and elected to bat
first and were in totters at 3-34 of
5 overs. Nadeem Maleek and
Zaman Muhammed both rescued
the team from early trouble and
scored fifties. Once both were
dismissed, Málaga lost wickets
in succession and didn’t even
manage to play the full quota of
35 overs. Nasir Dar bowled econ-
omically 3-23 and Adam O 3-37
made the damage in the end
overs. Regardless of what hap-
pened in the end the match was
brought back to life by the cen-
tury partnership between Na-
deem Malik and Zaman Mu-
hammed in the first half. They
propelled Málaga CC to 257 allout
in 34.4 overs.
The match turned out to be a
one-man show as 50% of the
runs were scored by Jesper
Hansen out of 261. Jesper
Hansen was adjudged man of the
match for his masterclass un-
beaten century
.
Malaga CC 257-10 (Nadeem
M 73, Zaman M 59, Egan SD 38*,
Nasir D 3-23, Adam O 3-37, James
F 3-53) lost to CDS Crusaders
261-6 (Jesper H 131*, Guy D 35,
Nasir D 29, W Ahmed 2-39, Asif T
1-57, Usman 1-49) by 4 wickets.
Crusaders will take on Fuen-
girola Lions this Saturday De-
cember 23 at 10am. For more up-

Santa Maria bowled over by
Christmas hamper event
By Sue Walker
Another fun day of bowling
took place at Santa Maria
Bowls club last Saturday when
both ladies and men competed
against each other in a random
draw singles competition. All
were dressed in red and ready
for some competitive bowling.
Four rounds of 10 ends with 2
bowls were played and then
Antonio and Sonia served deli-
cious Estofado or tasty corgette
cream soup which everyone
really enjoyed.
After the fifth round, the do-
nated hampers were presented
to the topfive players. Craig
Lewis and Garry Aldridge won
all their games but Craig won
by a better shots difference.
June Baldry came third, Pat
Fisher fourth and Barbara
Bartlett fifth.
A fun corner to corner was
then played and won by crown
green superstar Barbara Bart-
lett.
Santa Maria's president Pat
Fisher thanked everyone for
supporting the competition and
to Susan for excellent organis-
ing again. She then wished
everyone a very happy Christ-
mas and a healthy new year.
New members and visitors
will be welcome after 6th Janu-
ary
