What is energy? Why is our society so reliant on fossil fuel energy? How can we save energy?
Use this presentation to find out more about renewable and non-renewable energy sources and how we can take personal action to reduce our usage.
a detailed presentation which emphasizes on the energy resources in the modern world, with a jist of their advantages and disadvantages including modern energy resources with illustrative pictures.
energy resources and a brief explanination is given in this ppt to create a public awareness regarding renewable resources and safe gaurding the non renewable resouces of energy .we should grow green to save our nature
Renewable energy refers to energy sources that are naturally replenished and virtually inexhaustible, such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass, providing a sustainable and clean alternative to fossil fuels for power generation and reducing carbon emissions!
Installing a 30KW Solar Panel System & getting pollution-free energy is a great way to help the environment or the earth. For more information about green energy and how it helps the earth, check this presentation.

In this activity students participate in a ‘Think, See, Feel & Wonder’ exercise aimed at getting students thinking about what big differences there might be between the lifestyle of someone in a developing country and an Australian lifestyle.
The remains from past periods provide clues about how people lived. Archaeological sites are extremely valuable and must always be managed and protected. This presentation compares the ancient findings of Aboriginal life at Lake Mungo and findings from the Roman period with our own lives. The focus is on waste and the volume of waste each period generated to our current mountains of rubbish.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

8. ENERGY IS ESSENTIAL TO LIFE AND ITS CONSERVATION
HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT.
BUT WHERE DOES IT COME FROM AND HOW DOES IT
GET INTO OUR HOMES?
9. ENERGY SOURCES
THE SOURCES OF ENERGY WE
USE TODAY CAN BE
CONSIDERED:
RENEWABLE – REPLACED BY
NATURAL PROCESSES
QUICKER THAN THEY ARE
BEING USED. E.g. solar, wind
NON-RENEWABLE – ONLY
EXIST IN LIMITED DEPOSITS
IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE
EARTH. E.g. coal, oil
10. BURNING FOSSIL FUELS IS A MAJOR
SOURCE OF GREENHOUSE GASES
INCREASING LEVELS OF GREENHOUSE GASES
LEADS TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL
WARMING
11. IN AUSTRALIA WE RELY HEAVILY ON NON-
RENEWABLE ENERGY, ESPECIALY COAL.
THIS CREATES A LOT OF GREENHOUSE
GASES.
13. IN AUSTRALIA WE
BURN SO MUCH
COAL THAT WE
CREATE THE MOST
AMOUNT OF
EMISSIONS PER
PERSON OF ANY
COUNTRY IN THE
WORLD.
WE ARE THE WORLD
LEADER IN
GREENHOUSE GAS
EMISSIONS!
21. TIPS FOR SAVING ENERGY…
• TURN OF YOUR LIGHTS WHEN YOU DON’T NEED
THEM.
• OPEN THE CURTAINS OR BLINDS INSTEAD OF
TURNING THE LIGHTS ON.
• TURN OFF THE STANDBY – THAT LITTLE RED LIGHT ON
YOUR STEREO/TV/COMPUTER USES NEARLY 10% OF
HOUSEHOLD ENERGY.
• BE SMART WITH YOUR HEATING AND COOLING. TAKE
YOUR JUMPER OFF IF YOU’RE HOT BEFORE YOU HIT
THE SWITCH ON THE AIR-CONDITIONER, OR PUT ON
A JUMPER IF YOU NEED TO WARM UP BEFORE YOU
HIT THE SWITCH ON THE HEATER.
22. TIPS FOR SAVING ENERGY…
• DRY YOUR CLOTHES ON THE LINE IN THE SUN AND
NOT IN THE DRYER.
• HAVE SHORTER SHOWERS. A LOT OF ENERGY IS USED
TO MAKE HOT WATER (YOU’LL ALSO BE SAVING
WATER). LIKEWISE, WASH YOUR HANDS UNDER THE
COLD TAP INSTEAD OF THE HOT.

Editor's Notes
Get your students to think of some examples of energy use.
Any changes that the students can see around them is due to energy. Can they think of some changes they have experiences today? (Toast cooking, alarm ringing, bus moving)

Explain to students that coal is a fossil fuel.
You may wish to explain to your students about the enhanced greenhouse effect.
