Red Hot Chili Peppers-Personal Narrative
Quick! Name three songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Uh, Venice Queen, Under The Bridge, and
Suck My Kiss. , I replied shakily as I was nervous. Wow. That s impressive. I was going to give you
the tickets even if you didn t name the songs. , the radio announcer replied. I breathed out in relief and
began to smile. I had just won concert tickets to see a band that i ve been obsessed with ever since I
was a kid and I could not have been happier. After the silence on the line, he began asking me a bunch
of questions about the band. You really are a big fan. How old are you? 15. , I answered with the
biggest grin on my face. We continued with the conversation for a few more minutes, said our
goodbyes, and then hung up. My mom began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using One Cell Necessary For Life And Discusses Its...
A cell is the smallest unit of life for any living organism and considered the essential component of
life. Every living thing including humans, animals, and plants comprise of one or more cells in their
body that perform different functions essential for living. There are different cells in the human body,
in plants and animal functioning. This essay aims at using one cell necessary for life and discusses its
properties of life, the core chemical terminology, its molecules, and compounds. Specifically, the
assignment will describe the basic anatomy and physiology of the cell, how the cell respiration,
photosynthesis, and reproduction occur in a concise manner. The paper will also discuss Mendel s

The epithelial cell consists of the keratinocyte cell that makes its monolayer. After getting nutrients,
the growth factors of the epithelial cell enables it to grow and separate from the keratinocyte. The
keratinocytes get support from fibroblasts as shown by keratinocyte lines. The keratinoctes depend on
finite life enabled by soluble products highly structured by the fibroblasts. The properties of life of the
epithelial cell demonstrate that it is not an independent type of cell and requires fibroblast support for
its sustainability (McLaughlin Seaquist, 2008). Cell anatomy and physiology
Anatomy can be described as the branch of biology that studies the structures and parts of organisms.
Physiology is the branch of biology that examines the normal functioning and parts of living things.
Regarding the anatomy of the epithelial cell, it is lined in all the surfaces of the body including the
body cavities, intestine, skin, and lungs among other parts.
The physiology of the epithelial cell is that it forms the functional elements of the inner surface and
line of blood, secretory glands, and the lymphatic vessels. It performs different functions including
excretion, absorption, protection, secretion and gas exchange among others. The skin performs the
protection function. The absorption function is through the intestines, secretion through the glands,
gas exchange through the blood and lung vessels and excretion through the kidney.

The Indian Economic Reforms Of The Economy
The Indian economic reforms of 1991 are a prime example of radical changes in the economic policies
of India from a conservative to an orthodox one. Prior to the reforms, the country followed the system
of regularising imports and replacing them with domestic products, with the state playing the
dominant role in economy. However serious macroeconomic and debt payment crisis forced the
government to implement radical policies in the form of the Economic Reforms of 1991.
Situation Prior 1991
Prior to the reforms, the Indian economic strategy pursued import substituting industrialisation1 with
the state playing a dominant role in the economy. This was ground set prior independence and
attracted wide support across political spectrum. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Political instability led to a lack of confidence in investors about the government s ability to manage
the economy. Foreign exchange reserves dwindled to an all time low of the cost of two weeks worth of
import. This prompted the government to immediately take action and reform the basic economic
structure. The crisis of 1991 came after 11 years of improved and stable growth performance, lower
inflation rates and steady decline in poverty. These reforms tried to consciously fashion the new policy
as close to the Washington Consensus as was permissible by the then prevailing economic condition.
Steps taken by the Government
The following were the steps taken by the government in the light of the 1991 economic crisis.
1.Problems of Fiscal deficit
To handle the problem of fiscal deficit, the following steps were taken
The tax rate for individual and corporate tax was reduced to bring more people under the tax net.
The tax procedure was made more efficient and simplified.
Heavy reductions were implemented in the import duties.
2.Removal and relaxation of government control over industries
In order to make the industrial management and provide an impetus for growth and development, the
industries were given more freedom in the following ways
Freedom from licenses and various other restrictions
Foreign technological imports and usage were promoted to ensure technological

Happiest Day Of My Life Narrative Essay
Boom, Boom, Boom...ping The uproar of violent knocks on my front door and my front door
unlocking permeated through the quiet studio apartment. My brain told me to run and hide, but my
body stood rooted to the ground.I was frozen...except the one heavy warm tear trickling down what
seemed like my lifeless face.
It was exactly a month after my 12th birthday when my parents moved me and my younger siblings to
VYV in Jersey City. Regardless of the fact that we were just staying there until my parents found an
actual house close enough to their office in New York and Princeton, I was quick to make it my home.
For my sibling and I the VYV was heaven. It had a huge playground, an indoor pool and a game
room. The VYV was also amazing for my parents because it was a gated entry building so it was
completely safe and the lock on the front door was opened by an electronic pin code only my parents
knew of. That s why after years of pleading with my parents to let me babysit my siblings for small
pocket money they finally let me.
I was ecstatic! I thought that was the happiest day of my life because I had always wanted to babysit
and the small pocket money would help me save up for anything my 6th grade heart desired from my
favorite store at the time, Bath Bodyworks.
It was the 3rd day on the job when everything went down...badly. It all started like any normal day.
My parents left for work at and the safety and wellbeing of my siblings were left in my hands. Me

Reality of the Vietnam War
Reality of the Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War the reality of warfare brought many soldiers back to a home that didn t want
them. Their feelings torn by atrocities, the loss of friends, and the condition of loneliness only made
the experience worse. Did the issues on the home front affect the issues on the frontline? The novel
Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers is a perfect example of the conflict and diversity among other
soldiers during the Vietnam War. It shows the reality many soldiers faced and how they dealt with
conflicts back home while they were alone and afraid of death creeping up on them. With the reality of
war taking its toll, soldiers coming home to a world they didn t know, a world that had changed and

Sociological Theory
INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY
Compare and contrast the views of three appropriate sociological perspectives to an area of social life
of your choosing. Why do we act the way we do? Does the mass media really affect the way a people
in a society behave? Sociologists focus on the environment and the social aspects of human behaviour
in order to answer questions like these when studying a particular society. A society is defined as a
large social group that shares the same geographical territory and is governed by the same political
authority and cultural expectations. Culture is defined as the shared values of a society such as
language, beliefs and ways of doing things (Burton, 2013, online). When looking at a society there are

Functionalism was introduced by Emile Durkheim (1858 1917), who is considered by many
intellectual thinkers to be the founder of modern sociology. The main principle of functionalism is that
each part of a society is interdependent and contributes towards making society work as a whole. Each
of these parts has to be working correctly but if something does go wrong then society has
mechanisms to deal with them, such as the police and the legal system. Functionalists also believe that
every social institution has many important functions to perform (Burton, 2013, online). Durkheim
introduced the theory anomie , or lack of social norms , that could cause instability or chaos. This
concept bought to light many instances that could affect a society in a negative way and especially the
behaviour of individuals towards one another (Emile Durkheim org, 2013, online). Another concept
put forward by Durkheim the sum of all of its parts is larger than the whole , defined at the
introduction of the structural/functionalist theory, is as relevant today as it was when first introduced
(Gamble, 2008, Online). Robert K. Merton (1910 2003) is one example of how Durkheim s theories
have lasted through the ages because his theory of anomie was taken directly from Durkheim s
perspective and still remains a major theory in the structure of society, both in criminal justice and
sociology (cited in

ABSTRACT The obligation to provide free or reduced fare travel to passengers who redeem their
accrued frequent flyer program (FFP) benefits represents a significant liability on every major U.S.
airline s balance sheet. Major U.S. airlines employ one of two methods to account for the liabilities

CNBC estimated that over 15 trillion frequent flyer miles were outstanding as of May 2011 (Whitman,
2011). Today, major U.S. airlines employ one of two methods to account for FFP liabilities for
mileage credits earned by paying passengers: either the Deferred Revenue Method or the Incremental
Cost Method. The Deferred Revenue Method recognizes a liability for the fair value of the outstanding
mileage credits (with fair value defined under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as
the amount for which the award credits could be sold separately ) (KPMG, 2008). The Incremental
Cost Method recognizes a liability for the marginal cost of providing air transportation to eligible
award passengers (i.e. the cost of taxes, fuel, food, etc. to fly one additional passenger on a seat that
otherwise would have been empty generally a nominal amount). Incremental cost accounting has been
subject to scrutiny several times throughout the history of FFPs. Within the past few years airlines
have reduced seating capacity due to high fuel prices and weaker travel demand during the global
economic recession, causing flights to be fuller on average and increasing the chance that, for any
given seat, a passenger flying on redeemed frequent flyer miles could displace a fare paying passenger
(notwithstanding the fact that many airlines limit the number of seats eligible to be reserved using FFP

The Importance Of William Shakespeare s Influence On The...
Through evolution and changing social times, modern society has begun to question the literary works
of famous poets such as William Shakespeare, for his use of predominantly male representation,
overused themes, and debased comedy style. Nevertheless, although social progress is underway to
broaden the range of literary works studied, it is important to examine Shakespeare in order to
recognize his exclusive influence on the English language, depiction of universal characters, and
representation of transferable lessons. Although, the overall ideologies involved are not agreeable to
civilizations today, it cannot be erased from history, thus is imperative to a student s knowledge of
literature Vocabulary is a tool given to society in order to articulate thoughts, sentiments, wishes, and
expression, hence the mandatory study of the English language throughout elementary school and so

he attributed to the creation of many of the terms society uses today. In classrooms students learn of
the devices he imposed onto the English language He invented over 1700 of our common words by
changing nouns into verbs, changing verbs into adjectives, connecting words by changing nouns into

he has added hundreds of terms into scholarly dictionaries, mandating his influence. In the same way

Psychological Operations During Operation Desert Storm
The uses of Information Operations during Operation Desert Storm, specifically Psychological
Operations were used to influence the enemy s moral as well as influence the way the enemy
approached the coalition forces. What was important during these operations was the way the enemy
was engaged with the PSYOP operations, from leaflets being dropped as well as loud speakers being
used to spread pre recorded messages. Reaching the enemy through these means was a way to ensure
that the enemy s moral was diminished greatly to enable coalition forces operations against the Iraqi
military.
What had occurred before these operations were to take place, was a invasion of Kuwait by the Iraqi
military, which resulted in coalition forces mobilizing in order to counter this threat of Iraq taking over
Kuwait and disrupting economic means within the country. The use of Psychological Operations
during Operation Desert Storm was not the first time, PSYOP had been used to affect an enemy
through Information Operations. What was seen, were the addition of new technology that further
assisted in the Information Operations that had occurred during these offensives. The objective during
these operations were to affect the way the Iraqi military had maintained their moral, as well as target
the Iraqi military through various means, including the voice of Kuwait radio, as well as leaflets being
dropped. The metrics that were used to evaluate the effectiveness of these operations were seen from

Essay on The Artwork of William Hogarth
The Artwork of William Hogarth
The artwork of William Hogarth is influenced greatly by social factors and the culture of eighteenth
century England. In many of his works, Hogarth satirizes English society, rich and poor alike. His
paintings and engravings depict the society of which he lived, with the costumes and ways of life of
the times all shown in his work. Much of the time he is being satirical, exaggerating some of the faults
of the people, other times he is being bitingly realistic in his views. It seems no one is safe from his
caricatures, from the lords and ladies, to slaves, servants, prostitutes, criminals and the poor.
Overall, his work shows the culture of a broad cross section of the people of England during this time,

As Hogarth himself wrote, Beer Street and Gin Lane were done when the dredfull [sic] consequences
of gin drinking was at its height. (Webster 1978) The prints were published partly to support the 1751
Gin Act. In an earlier work, Strolling Actresses in a Barn, Hogarth also referred to another Act, the
1737 Act against strolling players. The Act is depicted on the left side of the engraving showing that
the performance will be the women s last. Social references include the fact that there were many
people of African descent in England at the time, as is shown by the servant and the black actress in
this print. The man peeping in at the top right which he possibly could have paid to do because Men at

foolish side of people Hogarth illustrated in his earlier picture about the bursting of the South Sea
bubble.
Hogarth s early print The South Sea Scheme is about the disastrous stock market crash of 1720, where
many English people lost a great deal of money. In the bottom left corner, he shows Protestant,
Catholic and Jewish figures gambling, while in the middle there is a huge merry go round like
machine, which people are getting on to ride. At the top is a goat, written below which is Who l Ride

The Paradox Commandments Analysis
A poem is often defined as an art form used to express yourself, which evokes emotion in its reader.
However, there are poems with another purpose besides making the audience feel something. Some
poems are used to educate, inspire, or give advice to it s readers. Two poems that offer excellent
advice about how to live life happily and successfully are If by Rudyard Kipling and The Paradoxical
Commandments by Dr. Kent M. Keith. Rudyard Kipling, the author of If and Dr. Kent M. Keith, the
author of The Paradoxical Commandments give both similar and different advice, but this advice is
directed at two different audiences because of the way it is presented in the poems.
The largest difference between these poems is the demographic they are written for. If is undeniably
male dominant in comparison to The Paradoxical Commandments which has advice directed at
anyone who chooses to read it. The first indication that If has advice specifically given to males is in
line three when Kipling says, If you can trust yourself when men doubt you, This line could have
easily been adjusted to ... when people doubt you, to allow all readers to relate to it. The second time
Kipling makes it obvious his words are for male readers only is the second line of the final stanza Or
walk with Kings nor lose the common touch. Kings are clearly masculine, and as powerful as a person
can get in Kipling s eyes. The final line of the poem And which is more you ll be a man, my

Mental Health Issues Of Vietnam Veterans
Society does not accommodate the needs of Veterans in terms of housing and health services upon
returning to civilian life. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a
host of mental health issues. Today s veterans have more support systems but the success of those
systems may vary from region to region. In the Puget Sound region there are many homeless veterans
despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and inadequate
community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in the military.
Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who dedicate their lives
to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society without an array of
different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake of the political
community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval Davis, 2012:208).
The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers when they return to being
citizens.
The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis
accomplishing goals for the larger group. Veterans witness a low work ethic and see people squander
away their opportunity creating a difference in the culture between ex military and civilian populations
in daily life (Rodriguez, Ricardo, 2016:Personal Interview). The experience for Ricardo, a

The whole purpose of testing animals for commercial purposes is to confirm the products are safe for
human use. They rely on their results as well to conclude whether the product is hazardous. The best

are valid. The next exhibit was called ?Health?. Here I played a genetics game that told me that some
of my own physical characteristics are very common among people and how some of them are unique
only to me. Next I visited ?One Race.? Here I learned how little of a person?s genetic makeup actually

The next floor I visited was the Health Floor. All of the exhibits were about the study of the human

Missouri Hunting/trapping animals
Missouri is a pretty big hunting state, having our own national forest and several plots of land
dedicated to just hunting is also pretty nice. Since we have so much forestry, why don t I teach you a
little bit about the wild animals that live in these deep valleys and cool springs, some of these you
might not see every day. During the 2015 2016 deer season, 274,447 deer were legally harvested, this
was a 7% increase from the 2014 2015 season, but a 3% decrease from the 10 year average, but lately,
the population has been dropping, this is due to severe disease outbreaks, a changes in habitat
availability. Deer population however has been slowly decreasing ... Show more content on

that surrounds their bodies, but on their back turns to more of a gray black mix in color. The coyote

Skyler Knight Research Papers
Mom, the young, and at the moment, quite uninterested Skyler Knight whispered precariously,

Over here, honey his mother replied, I m in the fiction section, we can go when I find a book for your

Skyler, now knowing where his mother was, felt comfortable walking around, though he didn t plan

Gender Trouble in Paris Essay
In Gender Trouble, Judith Butler discusses complications with constructions of inner and outer worlds
of the body. She argues that internalization of gender , as common linguistics describes it, is a part of
the heterosexual hegemonic binary of gender conformity which distinguishes inner and outer worlds.
Gender, in the commonly accepted model, is innate and through a process of bringing out the inner
gender is expressed. Butler proposes, instead, that the gendered body is performative and has no
ontological status apart from the various acts which constitute its reality (173). Thus, gender does not
exist within a person, a part of the body itself, but is a performance constructed through many
displays. Gender is not explicitly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

walking at a ball wearing a thick boa of feathers, a v neck black sequin dress, and a horseback riding

movements with waves of her wrists and a slow, gentle walk. She is a spectacle with arms wide open.
The non diagetic voice becomes diagetic as the film cuts to a close up of Dorian putting on make up in
what is made to seem like her homemade dressing room. The closeness of the shot gives a sense of
honesty. Her monotone voice feels subtly powerful. Her shoulders are relaxed and she moves as

Arthur Gordon Pym Of Nantucket
Edgar Allan Poe, in The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, employs a multitude of
American Gothic characteristics such as the physically isolated ship as the setting, the mental isolation
and eventual destruction of Pym during entrapment, and the grotesque act of cannibalism. In The
Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, Poe magnifies Pym s suffering by trapping him in the
belly of the brig and allowing him to suffer until he is on the brink of insanity. The Narrative of Arthur
Gordon Pym is Poe s only finished novel, and within it are all the Gothic characteristics for which Poe
is well known in his short stories and even includes some characteristics for which he is not known. It

When Pym is eventually released from his hold to the deck above, he, Augustus, and Dirk Peters (a

fight, Pym s gang kills all the other crew except for Richard Parker, who he knocked down with a
blow from the pump handle at the commencement of the attack (Poe 85). At this point, only four
members of the original crew remain and a strong gale is fastly approaching them. On top of the
strong gale and terrible waters, the survivors of the violence plummed the well, and found no less than
seven feet water (Poe 86). During this storm, instead telling about the wind and suffering, he turns
instead to a description of nautical maneuvers in a storm like how to stowaway proper storage
(Montwieler 2). The physical isolation that happens after the second rebellion, which includes weeks
of barely any food or water, leaves the men very hallucinogenic, and this rant that Pym goes on about
how to properly stowaway exemplifies how disturbed the men become because of the physical
isolation. However, this was not the only reason that Poe included this tangent on stowage. Yes, it was
mentioned to illustrate how delusional Pym was becoming due the remoteness, but also because the
public at that time wanted real life sailing. Poe includes this and other tangent on how to set sails
properly in a storm because the people of that time wanted him to complete the narrative himself in its
original non fictional form. The reading public, he writes, was not avid for fiction, but for the facts.
(Grady 1). Poe uses the physical isolation of the remaining crew as a stage for him to demonstrate how
weary the men become without barely any food for weeks and also to go on tangents to give what the

Advantages of nuclear power;
Low costs. The initial construction costs of nuclear power plants are large. When the power plants first
have been built, we are left with the costs to enrich and process the nuclear fuel, control and get rid of
nuclear waste, as well as the maintenance of the plant. The reason this is under advantages is that
nuclear energy is cost competitive. Generating electricity in nuclear reactors is cheaper than electricity
generating from oil, gas and coal. Nuclear power plants provide a stable base load of energy. This can
work synergistic with renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. The electricity production
from the plants can be lowered when good wind and solar resources are available and cranked up
when the demand is high.
Low pollution. It is in most cases more beneficial, in terms of the climate crisis, to replace other
energy harnessing methods we use today with nuclear power. The environmental effects of nuclear
power are relatively light compared to those. However, nuclear waste is potential harmful for both
humans and the environment.

Descartes Sixth Meditation Summary
Rene Descartes Sixth Meditation
Of the Existence of Material Things, and the Real Distinction between Mind and Body
Lesley McLaughlin
April 16th, 2018
Professor Ian Gerrie
GPHL 110 GNC
In Descartes Sixth Meditation he examines the objective reality of material things and the difference
between the mind and the body. Descartes approaches the mind and body as two entirely distinct
entities that function in close relation, yet independent of one another. In this Descartes refers to
himself as a thinking thing (Moriarty, 2008, p. 55) in which he is referring to a thing that has doubts,
hopes, will, wants, beliefs, dreams, and all other mental abilities. Descartes argues that the body, as a
whole, works closely with the mind; however, it is something that is only an extended thing and not a
thinking thing... and [he] can exist without it. (Moriarty, 2008, p. 55) Descartes suggests that he, or his
mind, is an essance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then explains further that he sees the mind as a thinking thing and not an extended thing (Moriarty,
2008, p. 55) and the body as an extended and not a thinking thing (Moriarty, 2008, p. 55) Thus, the
mind is an entity that is entirely separate from the body; they are two exclusive things. Specifically,
the mind can live without the body.
Imagination and sensation are methods of thought, of which Descartes can manage without and so,
they are not essential to him. He also determines that neither of these methods could exist without a
substance to retain them; imagination and sensation could not exist without the mind or the body.
Descartes explains his confused feelings surrounding hunger, pain, etc. stating that as a result of their
union they conflict, causing a sense of confusion within the

The Causes Of Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a big problem in the United States today. Domestic violence is anything from
sibling abuse to elder abuse. Domestic violence has many names. Spouse abuse talks about abuse from
a husband/wife or a boyfriend/girlfriend. Domestic violence is not just physical, but is behavior that is
intended to control another person through the use of verbal assaults.
One big cause of domestic violence is stress. Things such as being unemployed, drugs, alcohol, or
little money can cause a person a lot of stress. Also, it can sometimes be due to the abuser being
abused themselves in their childhood. Statistics show that many people who are abused in their
childhood become abusers themselves.
When domestic violence occurs there are many types of abuse that can happen. The first kind is
physical violence. Physical violence includes anything that is intended to physically injure the person.
The second type of abuse is emotional abuse which is consistently doing or saying things to
emotionally harm another person.
The third kind is sexual abuse. Just because someone is married to someone doesn t mean that they
have to have sex with them. Even though these are different kinds of abuse, all of them are harming in
their own ways.
People who have been abused think that there is no way out. They continue to put up with the abuse
and eventually learn to deal with it. Also due to the history of domestic violence, it is still seen as
acceptable in some ways and not a large threat

Compression Technology Essay
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 What Is Compression Technology ? Compression is representation of data in a compact form.
Compression of data, bit rate reduction or source coding involves encoding of data using fewer
number of bits. Compression are of two types lossy and lossless. Lossless compression removes such
data bits whose removal does not affects the information of the data on the other hand no information
losses takes place in lossless compression. Lossy compression reduces bits by finding unnecessary
information and then removing them . The process of reduction of file data size is referred as data
compression. 1.1.1 Why Do We Still Need Compression ? Compression Technology is used to
efficiently use the storage space which saves transmission capacity and time of transmission that leads

Booker T Washington and W.E.B Dubois are two African American leaders who took a different look
at discrimination and segregation experienced by African Americans. Booker T Washington wanted to
take an approach to being discriminated against African Americans are going to have to learn how to
put up with this. Washington took what he considered to be a more practical approach to these
problems he emphasized discrimination and segregation for the time being. He also said that if African
Americans would like to make more money than they need to do things that people need or want.
Basically, he said African American people need to be or learn skilled trades to earn more money and

people to put up with discrimination. He wanted African Americans to cope with this. Booker T
Washington also didn t challenge social segregation. He did not want to be a part of any violence so
that s why he didn t challenge it because he knows that if he would have challenged the racist people
then he probably would have got killed. He wanted black people to prove themselves to racist people.

A Midsummer Night s Dream And A Doll s House
A Midsummer Night s Dream A Doll s House, written by William Shakespeare and Henrik Ibsen
respectively, are plays that have a varying number of themes. These two plays are centuries apart yet,
they share a strikingly similar approaches in regards to the themes that are scattered throughout both
plays. Such themes consists of love and marriage, deceit and honesty and most noticeably the
relationship between men and women. Though they share many of the same thematic elements, their
stories are completely different from one another.
A Midsummer Night s Dream is a play about love. All of its action from the escapades of Lysander,
Demetrius, Hermia, and Helena in the forest, to the argument between Oberon and Titania, to the play
about two lovelorn youths that Bottom and his friends perform at Duke Theseus s marriage to
Hippolyta are motivated by love. But A Midsummer Night s Dream is not a romance, in which the
audience gets caught up in a passionate love affair between two characters. It s a comedy, and because
it s clear from the outset that it s a comedy and that all will turn out happily, rather than try to
overcome the audience with the exquisite and overwhelming passion of love, A Midsummer Night s
Dream invites the audience to laugh at the way the passion of love can make people blind, foolish,
inconstant, and desperate. At various times, the power and passion of love threatens to destroy

Secret Trusts
Another argument against the principle of fraud theory is that it is unconstitutional because the courts
are out rightly undermining the WA 1837 thereby challenging the doctrine of parliamentary
sovereignty but this argument has since been countered with the maxim that equity will not allow
statute created for the prevention of fraud to be used to perpetrate fraud, that it was not the intention of
parliament to deny a person property that is rightly meant for them simply because of formality
requirements.

The remaining cases contain examples of secret trusts created for a multitude of reasons; for example,
there are cases where the testator was persuaded to create the secret trust by a deceitful secret trustee,
cases where the testator wanted to change his will at a very late stage and it appeared easier to create a
secret trust than to amend the will, cases where the secret trust arose as a result of a poorly drafted
will, cases where the secret trust was created in an apparent attempt to avoid tax liability, cases where
the secret trust was created as a result of legal advice and cases where the secret trust arose out of the
testator s indecisiveness. It is clear that the doctrine was not developed to allow testators to provide
secretly for illegitimate families, or indeed for reasons involving the Mortmain Acts. The obvious
conclusion to draw is that any failure to perform a secret trust is a fraud, regardless of why the secret
trust was created.
CONCLUSION
From a wide range of available case law it can be safety suggested that secret trusts are enforced on
the basis of fraud prevention but the courts remain concerned as to the possible uncertainty and
confusion that could be created by upholding a doctrine that completely undermines all forms of

feet by 43 feet. Michelangelo painted over 5,000 square feet of frescoes. (arthistory.about.com)
According to www.britannica.com/art/fresco painting fresco painting is a method of painting water
based pigments on freshly applied plaster, usually on wall surfaces. The colors are made by grinding
dry powder pigments in pure water. Then, the paint dries and sets with the plaster to become a
permanent part of the wall. Fresco painting is ideal for making murals because it lends itself to a
monumental style, is durable, and has a matte surface. This contributed to why Michelangelo chose to
paint using this style. (www.britannica.com/art/fresco painting)

Evaluating The Performance Of Domestic Savings During The...
The prior saving approach to finance development states that saving is a prerequisite of investment, so
the first task is to increase the level of savings to finance investment as this approach believes that
savings will readily find investment outlets (Thirlwall, 2003).
Accordingly, the ability of carrying out investments, as a cornerstone of any economic development
process, is based primarily on the ability of attracting and mobilizing domestic and foreign savings,
where savings are necessary to fund the required investments.
3.1 Mobilizing Domestic Savings
Examining the performance of domestic savings in Egypt, through the first decade of 21st century and
the first three years of the second decade, illustrates not just the weak performance of domestic saving,
but also its tendency to deteriorate over the considered time period.
The Hodrick Prescott Filter (HP) is used to generate a trend component from a time series regarding
the level of gross domestic savings in Egypt as a percentage of GDP.
Figure 1 illustrates that gross domestic savings as a percentage of GDP starts at 12.9% in 2000 and it
ends at 7.2% in 2013; and its average was 13.6% (standard deviation 2.9%) during the considered time
period, see Table 1.

Why Can Hipsters Be Considered A Counterculture
Hipsterism has become an extremely popular counterculture in society. According to Zev Borow, the
hipster culture primarily focuses on individuality , uniqueness , and free thinking (Borow). Hipsters
have also been known to have a passion for music, food, social life, and style. Although hipsters are
often misunderstood to some people in society, they love what they do and have fun while doing it
which is what matters the most. The hipster counterculture has had a huge impact on society by
providing a platform for people to express themselves.
The modern day hipster movement became popular in the early 90 s (Smith). This counterculture didn
t spring up overnight, hipsters were influenced by Revolutionary groups of the past ... Show more

The fact that the hipster counterculture was created for those who don t fit in or feel they don t acquire
a sense of belonging in a typical mainstream culture says something in itself (Mckenzie). One big
reason as to why hipsters has since become popular is because they provide a safe haven for those
who are fond of individuality and for those who don t affiliate with the mainstream crowd. Giving
them freedom to freely express themselves without societal pressures on them. Due to the hipsters
reject to traditional society, many critics have now attached negative connotations to the word.
Making anybody who claims to be a hipster looked down upon. Since then society has viewed hipsters
as arrogant, [demanding] and direct people that nobody like to associate with (Mckenzie). Along with
that hipsters are also viewed as people who give off the vibe that they just don t care (Fletcher).
Although, critics give hipsters many negative feedback, when you get to know a real hipster and not
some poser, they are actually down to earth, expressive people (Mckenzie). The hipsters way of life is
different from the norm making it more comfortable to people. Not always trying to fit in and trying to
be updated is a big stress relief off many people who chose to become

Colloids For Research Paper
Solutions, colloids, and suspensions are all types of mixtures. Suspensions and colloids are classified
as heterogeneous mixtures and solutions are classified as the homogeneous mixture. Solutions are
single atoms that never settle and are transparent which also means clear. Colloids are aggregates of
atoms, molecules, or ions, they can settle and they are transparent with a Tyndall effect. Suspensions
are clumps of particles such as sand and their movement is by gravity with the translucent effect. An
example of a solution is sugar dissolving in water because the solute the sugar is being dissolved in
the solvent which is the water it is basically two substances evenly mixed together. Some examples of
Colloids is plasma proteins, albumins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of a nonelectrolyte is C6H12O6 glucose because it can not dissociate into ions whenever
it is in an aqueous solution.
Solubility is the quantity of a particular substance solid, liquid, or gas solute that can dissolve in a
particular solvent, yielding a saturated solution(biology online). The solubility of solids increases with
the temperature. The increasing of the temperature allows the solvent molecules to easily detach the
solute molecules that are held by intermolecular attractions. The solubility of gases is a little more
complicated because as the temperature increase the kinetic energy also increases which causes more
motion of the molecules to move more freely. There re two ways for material to be dissolved the first
way is dipole to dipole which is molecular and the second way is dipole to ion which is ionic.
When an ionic compound like NaCl dissolves in water, we end up with a positive Na and negative Cl

THE TEMOLE OF ARTEMIS AT EPHESUS VS TAJ MAHAL
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus vs the Taj Mahal
Two significant historical structures are compared in this essay which are The Temple of Artemis at
Ephesus and the Taj Mahal. These two architectural installations were created in different time periods
and in different civilizations. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Taj Mahal both may have
some similarities and several differences.
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was constructed by Greek architectures in the mid 6th century BCE
at Ephesus. ( The temple of Artemis, 2012) This ancient Greek city was also known as the City of the
Mother Goddess which explains the reason why Greeks decided to construct The Temple of Artemis
there. (Mark, Cartwright, Violatti, 2009) This Temple is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the
Ancient World. The Temple of Artemis was built in honor of the goddess of the chastity, virginity, the
hunt, the moon, and the natural environment, Artemis. She was daughter of Zeus, as soon as Artemis
was born, she helped her mother give birth to her twin brother, thereby becoming the protector of
childbirth and labor. She asked her father to grant her eternal chastity and virginity, and never gave in
to any potential lovers; devoted to hunting and nature, she rejected marriage and love. ( Artemis
pictures, 1997) The ancient Greek Temple was built by a Crete

Martha Ballard s Diary Analysis
Laurel Thatcher Ulrich uses Martha Ballard s diary to portray life in rural New England in the late
1700 and early 1800 s. Using this diary and other historical material she recreates the 27 years of life
that Martha has disclosed in her diary. By using Martha s life and words she recreates what living was
like during the pre industrial era. She features the role that midwives and women in general played in
the economic survival of families during this era. The diary by itself does not shed light on all the
social and cultural traditions of Martha Ballard s time. By using it with other historical information
Ulrich was able to spin a story that gave an understanding of this era. It also shows why Ballard s
story is worth reading about and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the story focuses on the works of Martha Ballard she makes it perfectly clear in the book
that caring for the health of others was the responsibility of all women in the community. Very rarely
in the book did Martha attend someone on by herself. Ulrich states, In such circumstances it was
comforting to have the women with her; they could witness her efforts to ensure a safe delivery and
they could assist with the sorrowful task of preparing an infant for burial. Several times in the diary
Ballard referenced someone laying out the deceased in their funeral clothes or the after nurse that
came to help with a newborn. Martha Ballard had her own family and home duties to attend. It is
chronicled that she would often times stay for days with someone but it is unrealistic to think she
could take care of all things herself. Ulrich discusses infant mortality rate and that the support of the
community is what made Martha such a great midwife. Ballard did not simply just show up at a birth.
The impending parents had to choose her and ask her to come. Such confidence comes by word of
mouth from someone that has had their child delivered by Martha. Even those who lost a child can
attest that Ballard did all she could to try to save their child. Having the women present also gives
someone else to pass on Ballard s professional ability to their own

Fight Club Consumerism
David Fincher s film, Fight Club (1999), puts the internal struggles for meaning that heterosexual
white men experience within today s society into motion. Charles Guignon examines the film s violent
and sexual factors as well as how they pose a meaningful appeal to violence, primarily, in the young
men of our society. Moreover, the film stirs up a fascination with violence that many of us may feel,
an attraction to inflicting pain and experiencing pain ourselves (35). Through concepts of absent
fathers, consumerism and an aimless being, Fight Club platforms a provocative view on how men in
modern society have lost their identity through emasculation and the extremely disturbing activities
they combat in order to find it again. Fight Club asserts the path to finding one s meaning is not simple
and, in turn, develops into a despairing and inconclusive struggle. The excessive consumerism in the
film signifies a sign of emotional emptiness. The film provides the viewer extensive knowledge on
contemporary American society by raising important questions about the embraced values in that
society. With the struggle for finding meaning and the prevalent masculine identity crisis manifested
in Fight Club, why do some men s daily lives fail to satisfy them in contemporary society? And
correspondingly, how is the main character, Edward Norton, truly nameless?
In Fight Club, Ed Norton s character, let his name be the Narrator. In the very beginning of the film,
he appears as a

Mismatch Between Limbic System
There is a mismatch between when the limbic system starts to mature and when the prefrontal cortex
starts to mature. The limbic system starts at the onset of puberty and with it starting at an earlier age
today the gap between when the limbic system matures and the prefrontal cortex matures is getting
larger making the window for risky behavior longer than it was before.
Since adolescent brain has the ability to change in response to the environment by modifying the
communications networks that connect brain regions, those changes make them vulnerable to
dangerous behaviors and mental disorders.
The increase in connectivity among brain regions is indicated as greater volumes of white matter from
childhood through adulthood. Which is the fatty

Western Culture in Two Gemanies
German History Research Paper by Ryan Parker

Dr. Lisa Todd HIST 3095
Mar. 27th 2015
Throughout the 20th century the nation of German went through a number of cataclysmic, and
paradigm shifting changes. One of the longest lasting changes to Germany was the division of
Germany into two separate nations, the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany), and the
German Democratic Republic (East Germany). These two nations were the results of a fundamental
difference in political ideals of two of the great nation at the time, the United States of American, and
the Soviet Union. Throughout the life spans of these two nations one of the largest concern were the
youth; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The principles are afraid of the superintendents. The superintendents are afraid of the Board [of
education], and the board is afraid of the truth. Everybody is afraid but the kids and they seem to be
afraid of nobody.
This goes to show how the system of rule that the western countries were using was only going to lead
to further degeneration of the youth, to the point where they had the entire teaching system afraid of
them. And a good number of these youth related cases could be attributed, by the word of the very
culprits themselves, to the consumption of Western media. Turning to the East, GDR officials had a
fundamental problem with western culture simply by it being just that, western. In many cases the
GDR actively tried to halt the access to western media, and tried to get other children to refrain on the
grounds that it, profoundly contradict[ed] the civilized moral and ethical sensibilities shared by all
decent people. IN other words, they did not like the noise and how it made

The properties of life of the epithelial cell demonstrate that it is not an independent type of cell and requires fibroblast support for its sustainability (McLaughlin Seaquist, 2008). Cell anatomy and physiology Anatomy can be described as the branch of biology that studies the structures and parts of organisms. Physiology is the branch of biology that examines the normal functioning and parts of living things. My brain told me to run and hide, but my body stood rooted to the ground.I was frozen...except the one heavy warm tear trickling down what seemed like my lifeless face. It was exactly a month after my 12th birthday when my parents moved me and my younger siblings to VYV in Jersey City. Regardless of the fact that we were just staying there until my parents found an actual house close enough to their office in New York and Princeton, I was quick to make it my home. For my sibling and I the VYV was heaven. It had a huge playground, an indoor pool and a game room. The VYV was also amazing for my parents because it was a gated entry building so it was completely safe and the lock on the front door was opened by an electronic pin code only my parents knew of. That s why after years of pleading with my parents to let me babysit my siblings for small pocket money they finally let me. I was ecstatic! I thought that was the happiest day of my life because I had always wanted to babysit and the small pocket money would help me save up for anything my 6th grade heart desired from my favorite store at the time, Bath Bodyworks. Why do we act the way we do? Does the mass media really affect the way a people in a society behave? Sociologists focus on the environment and the social aspects of human behaviour in order to answer questions like these when studying a particular society. A society is defined as a large social group that shares the same geographical territory and is governed by the same political authority and cultural expectations. Culture is defined as the shared values of a society such as language, beliefs and ways of doing things (Burton, 2013, online). When looking at a society there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Functionalism was introduced by Emile Durkheim (1858 1917), who is considered by many intellectual thinkers to be the founder of modern sociology. The main principle of functionalism is that each part of a society is interdependent and contributes towards making society work as a whole. Each of these parts has to be working correctly but if something does go wrong then society has mechanisms to deal with them, such as the police and the legal system. Functionalists also believe that every social institution has many important functions to perform (Burton, 2013, online). Durkheim introduced the theory anomie , or lack of social norms , that could cause instability or chaos. This concept bought to light many instances that could affect a society in a negative way and especially the behaviour of individuals towards one another (Emile Durkheim org, 2013, online). Another concept put forward by Durkheim the sum of all of its parts is larger than the whole , defined at the introduction of the structural/functionalist theory, is as relevant today as it was when first introduced (Gamble, 2008, Online). Robert K. Merton (1910 2003) is one example of how Durkheim s theories have lasted through the ages because his theory of anomie was taken directly from Durkheim s perspective and still remains a major theory in the structure of society, both in criminal justice and sociology (cited in ... CNBC estimated that over 15 trillion frequent flyer miles were outstanding as of May 2011 (Whitman, 2011). Today, major U.S. airlines employ one of two methods to account for FFP liabilities for mileage credits earned by paying passengers: either the Deferred Revenue Method or the Incremental Cost Method. The Deferred Revenue Method recognizes a liability for the fair value of the outstanding mileage credits (with fair value defined under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as the amount for which the award credits could be sold separately ) (KPMG, 2008). The Incremental Cost Method recognizes a liability for the marginal cost of providing air transportation to eligible award passengers (i.e. the cost of taxes, fuel, food, etc. to fly one additional passenger on a seat that otherwise would have been empty generally a nominal amount). Incremental cost accounting has been subject to scrutiny several times throughout the history of FFPs. Within the past few years airlines have reduced seating capacity due to high fuel prices and weaker travel demand during the global economic recession, causing flights to be fuller on average and increasing the chance that, for any given seat, a passenger flying on redeemed frequent flyer miles could displace a fare paying passenger (notwithstanding the fact that many airlines limit the number of seats eligible to be reserved using FFP ... • 10. The Importance Of William Shakespeare s Influence On The... Through evolution and changing social times, modern society has begun to question the literary works of famous poets such as William Shakespeare, for his use of predominantly male representation, overused themes, and debased comedy style. Nevertheless, although social progress is underway to broaden the range of literary works studied, it is important to examine Shakespeare in order to recognize his exclusive influence on the English language, depiction of universal characters, and representation of transferable lessons. Much of the time he is being satirical, exaggerating some of the faults of the people, other times he is being bitingly realistic in his views. • 13. The Paradox Commandments Analysis A poem is often defined as an art form used to express yourself, which evokes emotion in its reader. However, there are poems with another purpose besides making the audience feel something. Some poems are used to educate, inspire, or give advice to it s readers. Two poems that offer excellent advice about how to live life happily and successfully are If by Rudyard Kipling and The Paradoxical Commandments by Dr. Kent M. Keith. Rudyard Kipling, the author of If and Dr. Kent M. Keith, the author of The Paradoxical Commandments give both similar and different advice, but this advice is directed at two different audiences because of the way it is presented in the poems. The largest difference between these poems is the demographic they are written for. If is undeniably male dominant in comparison to The Paradoxical Commandments which has advice directed at anyone who chooses to read it. The first indication that If has advice specifically given to males is in line three when Kipling says, If you can trust yourself when men doubt you, This line could have easily been adjusted to ... when people doubt you, to allow all readers to relate to it. The second time Kipling makes it obvious his words are for male readers only is the second line of the final stanza Or walk with Kings nor lose the common touch. Vietnam veterans are infamously known for being homeless and having a host of mental health issues. In the Puget Sound region there are many homeless veterans despite efforts made by communities and municipalities. Issues of access to health care and inadequate community support intersect to form an underserved group of citizens who served in the military. Those who serve in the military are the often purported to be the ideal citizens who dedicate their lives to service. Veterans however are displaced and unable to fit within society without an array of different services. Veterans have engaged in the duty to kill others for the sake of the political community in order to secure their living and membership within society (Yuval Davis, 2012:208). The political community then has a responsibility to provide for the soldiers when they return to being citizens. The culture for those who come from the military is highly disciplined and has an emphasis accomplishing goals for the larger group. Both stories depict the life of a young man sent Auschwitz with their father during the Holocaust. However, despite the similarities of their circumstances at camp, the main characters have two radically different descriptions of what the Holocaust was like. She argues that internalization of gender , as common linguistics describes it, is a part of the heterosexual hegemonic binary of gender conformity which distinguishes inner and outer worlds. Gender, in the commonly accepted model, is innate and through a process of bringing out the inner gender is expressed. Butler proposes, instead, that the gendered body is performative and has no ontological status apart from the various acts which constitute its reality (173). Thus, gender does not exist within a person, a part of the body itself, but is a performance constructed through many displays. Gender is not explicitly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, only four members of the original crew remain and a strong gale is fastly approaching them. On top of the strong gale and terrible waters, the survivors of the violence plummed the well, and found no less than seven feet water (Poe 86). During this storm, instead telling about the wind and suffering, he turns instead to a description of nautical maneuvers in a storm like how to stowaway proper storage (Montwieler 2). The physical isolation that happens after the second rebellion, which includes weeks of barely any food or water, leaves the men very hallucinogenic, and this rant that Pym goes on about how to properly stowaway exemplifies how disturbed the men become because of the physical isolation. However, this was not the only reason that Poe included this tangent on stowage. Yes, it was mentioned to illustrate how delusional Pym was becoming due the remoteness, but also because the public at that time wanted real life sailing. Poe includes this and other tangent on how to set sails properly in a storm because the people of that time wanted him to complete the narrative himself in its original non fictional form. The reading public, he writes, was not avid for fiction, but for the facts. (Grady 1). The reason this is under advantages is that nuclear energy is cost competitive. Generating electricity in nuclear reactors is cheaper than electricity generating from oil, gas and coal. Nuclear power plants provide a stable base load of energy. This can work synergistic with renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. Descartes Sixth Meditation Summary Rene Descartes Sixth Meditation Of the Existence of Material Things, and the Real Distinction between Mind and Body Lesley McLaughlin April 16th, 2018 Professor Ian Gerrie GPHL 110 GNC In Descartes Sixth Meditation he examines the objective reality of material things and the difference between the mind and the body. Descartes approaches the mind and body as two entirely distinct entities that function in close relation, yet independent of one another. In this Descartes refers to himself as a thinking thing (Moriarty, 2008, p. 55) in which he is referring to a thing that has doubts, hopes, will, wants, beliefs, dreams, and all other mental abilities. Descartes argues that the body, as a whole, works closely with the mind; however, it is something that is only an extended thing and not a thinking thing... and [he] can exist without it. Domestic violence has many names. Spouse abuse talks about abuse from a husband/wife or a boyfriend/girlfriend. Domestic violence is not just physical, but is behavior that is intended to control another person through the use of verbal assaults. One big cause of domestic violence is stress. Things such as being unemployed, drugs, alcohol, or little money can cause a person a lot of stress. Also, it can sometimes be due to the abuser being abused themselves in their childhood. Statistics show that many people who are abused in their childhood become abusers themselves. When domestic violence occurs there are many types of abuse that can happen. The first kind is physical violence. Physical violence includes anything that is intended to physically injure the person. The second type of abuse is emotional abuse which is consistently doing or saying things to emotionally harm another person. The third kind is sexual abuse. Just because someone is married to someone doesn t mean that they have to have sex with them. Even though these are different kinds of abuse, all of them are harming in their own ways. People who have been abused think that there is no way out. They continue to put up with the abuse and eventually learn to deal with it. The ceiling measures about 141 feet by 43 feet. Michelangelo painted over 5,000 square feet of frescoes. (arthistory.about.com) According to www.britannica.com/art/fresco painting fresco painting is a method of painting water based pigments on freshly applied plaster, usually on wall surfaces. The colors are made by grinding dry powder pigments in pure water. Then, the paint dries and sets with the plaster to become a permanent part of the wall. Fresco painting is ideal for making murals because it lends itself to a monumental style, is durable, and has a matte surface. This contributed to why Michelangelo chose to paint using this style. • 42. Evaluating The Performance Of Domestic Savings During The... The prior saving approach to finance development states that saving is a prerequisite of investment, so the first task is to increase the level of savings to finance investment as this approach believes that savings will readily find investment outlets (Thirlwall, 2003). Accordingly, the ability of carrying out investments, as a cornerstone of any economic development process, is based primarily on the ability of attracting and mobilizing domestic and foreign savings, where savings are necessary to fund the required investments. 3.1 Mobilizing Domestic Savings Examining the performance of domestic savings in Egypt, through the first decade of 21st century and the first three years of the second decade, illustrates not just the weak performance of domestic saving, but also its tendency to deteriorate over the considered time period. The Hodrick Prescott Filter (HP) is used to generate a trend component from a time series regarding the level of gross domestic savings in Egypt as a percentage of GDP. Figure 1 illustrates that gross domestic savings as a percentage of GDP starts at 12.9% in 2000 and it ends at 7.2% in 2013; and its average was 13.6% (standard deviation 2.9%) during the considered time period, see Table 1. According to Zev Borow, the hipster culture primarily focuses on individuality , uniqueness , and free thinking (Borow). Hipsters have also been known to have a passion for music, food, social life, and style. Although hipsters are often misunderstood to some people in society, they love what they do and have fun while doing it which is what matters the most. The hipster counterculture has had a huge impact on society by providing a platform for people to express themselves. The modern day hipster movement became popular in the early 90 s (Smith). The fact that the hipster counterculture was created for those who don t fit in or feel they don t acquire a sense of belonging in a typical mainstream culture says something in itself (Mckenzie). One big reason as to why hipsters has since become popular is because they provide a safe haven for those who are fond of individuality and for those who don t affiliate with the mainstream crowd. Giving them freedom to freely express themselves without societal pressures on them. Due to the hipsters reject to traditional society, many critics have now attached negative connotations to the word. Making anybody who claims to be a hipster looked down upon. Since then society has viewed hipsters as arrogant, [demanding] and direct people that nobody like to associate with (Mckenzie). Along with that hipsters are also viewed as people who give off the vibe that they just don t care (Fletcher). Although, critics give hipsters many negative feedback, when you get to know a real hipster and not some poser, they are actually down to earth, expressive people (Mckenzie). The hipsters way of life is different from the norm making it more comfortable to people. Suspensions and colloids are classified as heterogeneous mixtures and solutions are classified as the homogeneous mixture. Solutions are single atoms that never settle and are transparent which also means clear. Colloids are aggregates of atoms, molecules, or ions, they can settle and they are transparent with a Tyndall effect. Suspensions are clumps of particles such as sand and their movement is by gravity with the translucent effect. Solubility is the quantity of a particular substance solid, liquid, or gas solute that can dissolve in a particular solvent, yielding a saturated solution(biology online). The solubility of solids increases with the temperature. The increasing of the temperature allows the solvent molecules to easily detach the solute molecules that are held by intermolecular attractions. The solubility of gases is a little more complicated because as the temperature increase the kinetic energy also increases which causes more motion of the molecules to move more freely. There re two ways for material to be dissolved the first way is dipole to dipole which is molecular and the second way is dipole to ion which is ionic. Sadaf Ebadi HUM2210 Humanities Professor: Wilson Kaiser October 10, 2017 THE TEMOLE OF ARTEMIS AT EPHESUS VS TAJ MAHAL The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus vs the Taj Mahal Two significant historical structures are compared in this essay which are The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Taj Mahal. These two architectural installations were created in different time periods and in different civilizations. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Taj Mahal both may have some similarities and several differences. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was constructed by Greek architectures in the mid 6th century BCE at Ephesus. ( The temple of Artemis, 2012) This ancient Greek city was also known as the City of the Mother Goddess which explains the reason why Greeks decided to construct The Temple of Artemis there. (Mark, Cartwright, Violatti, 2009) This Temple is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Temple of Artemis was built in honor of the goddess of the chastity, virginity, the hunt, the moon, and the natural environment, Artemis. She was daughter of Zeus, as soon as Artemis was born, she helped her mother give birth to her twin brother, thereby becoming the protector of childbirth and labor. • 46. Martha Ballard s Diary Analysis Laurel Thatcher Ulrich uses Martha Ballard s diary to portray life in rural New England in the late 1700 and early 1800 s. Using this diary and other historical material she recreates the 27 years of life that Martha has disclosed in her diary. By using Martha s life and words she recreates what living was like during the pre industrial era. She features the role that midwives and women in general played in the economic survival of families during this era. The diary by itself does not shed light on all the social and cultural traditions of Martha Ballard s time. By using it with other historical information Ulrich was able to spin a story that gave an understanding of this era. It also shows why Ballard s story is worth reading about and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the story focuses on the works of Martha Ballard she makes it perfectly clear in the book that caring for the health of others was the responsibility of all women in the community. Very rarely in the book did Martha attend someone on by herself. Ulrich states, In such circumstances it was comforting to have the women with her; they could witness her efforts to ensure a safe delivery and they could assist with the sorrowful task of preparing an infant for burial. Several times in the diary Ballard referenced someone laying out the deceased in their funeral clothes or the after nurse that came to help with a newborn. Martha Ballard had her own family and home duties to attend. It is chronicled that she would often times stay for days with someone but it is unrealistic to think she could take care of all things herself. Ulrich discusses infant mortality rate and that the support of the community is what made Martha such a great midwife. Ballard did not simply just show up at a birth. The impending parents had to choose her and ask her to come. Such confidence comes by word of mouth from someone that has had their child delivered by Martha. Even those who lost a child can attest that Ballard did all she could to try to save their child. Having the women present also gives someone else to pass on Ballard s professional ability to their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Fight Club Consumerism David Fincher s film, Fight Club (1999), puts the internal struggles for meaning that heterosexual white men experience within today s society into motion. Charles Guignon examines the film s violent and sexual factors as well as how they pose a meaningful appeal to violence, primarily, in the young men of our society. Moreover, the film stirs up a fascination with violence that many of us may feel, an attraction to inflicting pain and experiencing pain ourselves (35). Through concepts of absent fathers, consumerism and an aimless being, Fight Club platforms a provocative view on how men in modern society have lost their identity through emasculation and the extremely disturbing activities they combat in order to find it again. Fight Club asserts the path to finding one s meaning is not simple and, in turn, develops into a despairing and inconclusive struggle. The excessive consumerism in the film signifies a sign of emotional emptiness. The film provides the viewer extensive knowledge on contemporary American society by raising important questions about the embraced values in that society. With the struggle for finding meaning and the prevalent masculine identity crisis manifested in Fight Club, why do some men s daily lives fail to satisfy them in contemporary society? And correspondingly, how is the main character, Edward Norton, truly nameless? In Fight Club, Ed Norton s character, let his name be the Narrator. Western Culture in Two Gemanies German History Research Paper by Ryan Parker 3334798 Dr. Lisa Todd HIST 3095 Mar. 27th 2015 Throughout the 20th century the nation of German went through a number of cataclysmic, and paradigm shifting changes. One of the longest lasting changes to Germany was the division of Germany into two separate nations, the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany), and the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). These two nations were the results of a fundamental difference in political ideals of two of the great nation at the time, the United States of American, and the Soviet Union. This goes to show how the system of rule that the western countries were using was only going to lead to further degeneration of the youth, to the point where they had the entire teaching system afraid of them. And a good number of these youth related cases could be attributed, by the word of the very culprits themselves, to the consumption of Western media. Turning to the East, GDR officials had a fundamental problem with western culture simply by it being just that, western. In many cases the GDR actively tried to halt the access to western media, and tried to get other children to refrain on the grounds that it, profoundly contradict[ed] the civilized moral and ethical sensibilities shared by all decent people.
