Essay On Should The Uk Leave The European Union
The United Kingdom made the right choice to leave the European Union, because they no
longer have to pay membership fees, it makes it harder for terrorists to get in, and they can gain
more independence. The UK left because they didn t want to pay membership fees to the EU.
The UK will saving money not have to pay membership fees. According to Full Fact, The UK
pays more into the EU budget than it gets back. ( The UK and EU Membership Fees, 2017) This
is saying that when the UK paid the EU, they did receive money but they gave the EU more, than
what they got. In 2016 the UK spend ВЈ13.1 billion in membership fees to the EU. Overall the UK
got back ВЈ4.5 billion of that, so in the end the UK loses ВЈ8.6 billion. This fact shows that leaving
the EU would save money because the UK wouldn t have to pay these fees.... Show more content on

Rob Wainwright, chief of Europol said, Up to 5,000 terrorists trained by Islamic State in the
Middle East are now back in Europe. This is certain to be a gross underestimate and anyway these
numbers will grow. Many are experienced killers. While we remain in the EU these terrorists
have the right to come freely into our country (UK). This means that there are a lot of terrorists
in europe and the number will keep growing, being a part of the EU will give them the freedom
to come into the UK. This makes it easier for terrorists to get inside the UK and cause damage.
The UK doesn t want terrorists, so by leaving the EU terrorist from the EU can t just walk in. The
last reason that the UK made the right choice is the United Kingdom gains more independence. The
UK wanted more independence when they left, they wanted to make their own trades and

Autistic Thronology Research Paper
The Link Between Autism and Otolaryngology
According to the CDC, about 1 in 88 children in the United States fall into the autistic spectrum.
If your child has autism, you should pay a visit to your local Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor.
It is not uncommon for autistic children to suffer with maladies that can be diagnosed and treated
by an otolaryngologist. By doing this, you may be able to help your child overcome some of the
obstacles they face, and it might even help with any self injurious behavior. It can be very difficult
to pinpoint what it bothering your autistic child due to communication issues, so you want to make
sure that there is not a medical reason behind some of your child s behavior.

Health Risks And Exposure Of Toxic Chemicals
Health Risk and Exposure to Toxic Chemicals Many scientific researchers have said that our
environment has been filled with toxic chemicals, which us humans have had a part of. There are
many different issues that should concern us surrounding these toxic chemicals. The major
concern is that many of these toxic chemicals have been claimed to be causing damage to the
health of humans and even other life forms. Another concern is that most of the theses toxic
chemicals have just recently been produced; and by our environment changing everyday there is
no telling what effects these toxic chemicals may have in the long run on the public s health. Just
about all of these toxic chemicals exist in the way they do because of humans. As humans we
practice a lot of different activities that cause toxic chemicals to pollute our environment such as,
agriculture, industrial, and many domestic activities as well. Many of the toxic chemicals that we
produce and use don t get used in a effective way, which causes them to be wasted, left
abandoned, and disposed of. When toxic chemicals are not disposed of properly they effect the
environment and the public s health in a negative way. There are toxic chemicals surrounding all of
us, no matter what part of the world we are in. We can t see them but we breathe them in and even
eat them. The realization is that we have many of foreign materials traveling within our bodies,
which is most likely causing damage to our innards. Although these

Final Exam Questions On Osmosis

anatomical position) (5 pts) a) The heart is posterior to the sternum b) The manubrium is medial
to the gleno humeral joint c) The dura mater is anterior to the spinal cord d) The cranium is
superior to the sacrum e) The calcaneus is posterior to the toes 2)What is osmosis? Is osmosis a
passive or an active process? Describe how osmosis occurs across the cell membrane. How can
the solute concentration of the interstitial fluid affect cell shape? Be specific. (5 points) Osmosis
is the movement of water molecules through a semi permeable membrane into a region of higher
solute concentration to equalize the solute concentrations on both sides. Osmosis is a passive
process and does not require energy like an active process would. A semi permeable membrane is
a membrane that allows certain molecules or ions to pass through, water being one of those
molecules, thus allowing water to freely flow in and out of a cell. The cell must have equal
concentrations on either side of the membrane to allow it to function, therefore water will pass in
and out of the cell to equalize the concentration of ions of both sides. Solutions of different
concentrations will pass water from the side with lower concentration to the side with higher
concentration, thus changing the cell s shape. A cell that is placed in a hypertonic solution

Gene And Betty Hoot Case Summary
The Burger King of Florida v. Gene and Betty Hoots of Matoon, IL. Case
The Hoots had remodeled a parking garage and turned it into a restaurant specializing in
hamburgers, calling it, Burger King. They registered Burger King with the state of Illinois as a
trademark, only to learn later that Burger King was a federally registered trademark of Burger King
of Florida. Unable to reach an agreement, the case went to federal court.
In a highly anticipated decision, the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that since Burger
King of Florida had a federal registration, they had rights to the trademark anywhere in the United
States except the area of Mattoon, where the Hoots had maintained previous authentic use.
Therefore, the Hoots were allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After plaintiffs opened a restaurant in Champaign, Illinois, defendants sued in the state court to
restrain plaintiffs use of the mark in Illinois. Plaintiffs then brought the federal suit, now before us,
and the defendants counter claimed for an injunction, charging plaintiffs with infringement of their
Illinois trade mark.
The district court found that Burger King s property right in the trademark was superior to Hoots s
because of the natural expansion of Burger King s business throughout Illinois but that Hoots still
had the right to use its trademark in the area in which it first adopted it innocently without notice of
Burger King s competing trademark. Hoots appealed.
The district court concluded, from the unchallenged findings, that plaintiffs federal registration is
prima facie evidence of the validity of the registration and ownership of the mark; that plaintiffs
have both a common law and a federal right in the mark superior to defendants in the area of natural
expansion of plaintiffs enterprise which logically included all of Illinois, except where defendants
had actually adopted and used the mark, innocently, i. e., without notice and in good faith; and that
the defendants had adopted and continuously used the mark in the Mattoon area innocently and
were entitled to protection in that

these ten people and there was nothing you could do to stop it? It is a scary thought, but one that
carries real substance in various regions of Africa. In this paper, I will inform you on the virus
known as Ebolawhich will include its history, inner workings, signs/symptoms, treatment, and

(ResearchHistory.org Staff). What most people do not realize is that Ebola is not one virus. Ebola
actually has five different subtypes.
1.Ebola Zaire
2.Ebola Sudan
3.Ebola Ivory Coast
4.Ebola Bundibugyo
5.Ebola Reston
Of the five subtypes, Ebola Reston is the only one that does not cause illness in humans. (Kivi). The
two first subtypes of Zaire and Sudan, usually occur simultaneously when an outbreak happens. The
Ivory Coast subtype originated from CГґte d Ivoire s Tai forests in Africa. Initially contained to
chimpanzees, humans soon got this subtype of Ebola due to improper containment procedures
during autopsies of the chimps. The Bundibugyo subtype is the newest one discovered by
modern medicine. Named after the Ugandan district from where it was first detected, Ebola
Bundibugyo infected approximately 100 people in its 2007/2008 initial outbreak. Ebola viruses
as a whole are incapable of naturally reproducing. By using the host cell to do this function,
Ebola eventually ends up destroying the host cell. At a glance, Ebola is hard to diagnose since it
exhibits symptoms similar to conditions such as malaria, cholera, and hepatitis. People in the first
stages of Ebola will also exhibit influenza like symptoms such as the ones mentioned above on the
first page. Use of a laboratory is required for confident diagnosis using on of these different tests.
Often characterized primarily by the sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain,

How Does Mary Wroth Explore The Negative Aspects Of Love
Within their respective works, both Ben Jonson and Mary Wroth explore the negative aspects of
love in vastly different ways. Jonson trivializes love, and makes a woman appear shallow in, My
Picture Left in Scotland . Jonson appears to be exploring a kind of superficial love, as well as his
expectations for how great poets, such as himself, should be treated by woman. Alternately, Wroth
expresses the terrible amount of pain that can come from lovein, Sonnet 68 . She clearly has
experienced a great and devastating loss, and is reeling in the aftermath of losing some sort of
genuine love. Both have quite different complaints about love, but share a similar tone, sense of
hopelessness, and vivid imagery. The first similarity between these two works is simply the fact
that in neither work does the reader... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Wroth s work, one merely learns that they broke her heart, and the way that the speaker now
feels as a result. Similarly, in Jonson s work, the reader is only informed that this woman
rejected the speaker of the poem. It would appear that both of the love interests within the works
are not the focus of the pieces, but merely agents, which the poets can use to delve into the
treacherous features of love. Both poets want the reader to focus not on who broke their heart,
but on ulterior messages within the works. There is a tone of both desperation and hopelessness
in both of the works. Jonson is coming to the realization that since he is unattractive it will be
hard for him to obtain a relationship. In the opening stanza, he speaks of how love is not blind, but
it is deaf. He is talking about the fact that women do notice that he is unattractive, and they reject
him based on this. He believes that love cannot be blind, due to the fact that besides his looks, he
has other positive attributes that are being ignored, due to his looks. Jonson

Isis of Egypt The Egyptian Goddess Isis, whom is the Goddess of Health, Marriage, and Wisdom,
has been widely worshipped amongst many religions throughout history seeing as her influence
was able to spread outside Egypt as Isis s influence spread also to the Greco Roman world as
well. The contrast of her worship in the Egyptian world and the Greco Roman world is
particularly fascinating as her worship had evolved over the course of time. In each of these
time periods, as her worship continued temples were built in her name in Egypt and in Greece.
The origins of Isis aren t entirely known, however the first evidence of Isis was found in the fifth
dynasty in the sun temple of Niuserre. Even though this is the first evidence of Isis, some like
Maria Muenster makes the case that Isis was the oldest of the gods, and that she came before the
Old Kingdom of Egypt, There, in the beginning was Isis. Oldest of the old, she was the goddess
from whom all Becoming arose. And later continues to say, In all her great and wonderful works
she was a wiser magician and more excellent than any other god. This all remains to be
speculation however, since her claims are based on a lack of archaeological evidence. Isis s elusive
origins remains a common topic in Ancient Egypt history. Isis s name means throne, and as she is
depicted in the Ancient Egyptian culture, her headdress is a throne. Isis was a representation of

It has not always been like this. There was once peace in this land, though peace is now naught

destroyed buildings with possibly invisible bombs around the roads. Instead of travelling around

It was only 7 o clock. I took a cold shower, since the time I have been here in this country; I have
only taken 2 hot showers. Sure, at first it was the worst thing to do during a day, now its normal,
suited to my lifestyle.
By the chattering and shouting I heard in the morning, seems as though Chris hadn t come back
last night. That had settled my plan for today as I planned to go search the city to find him. Even
though he was different, narrow minded and wanted different things, he was still my friend in a
way, I think...
Chris s special ops team had tried to search for him all day, but still no clue as to where he would
be. As for me I had been going in around the buildings and saw one of the most horrible sights,
which I could never forget. Literally, an army of dead bodies situated in the middle of the road. If
I had remembered correctly, this had been the route I had taken to come to the air base. These
bodies were not here before. This must have happened last night. Unconsciously, I had started to
suspect Chris of being responsible for something like this.
It was close to midnight, I had searched for Chris all day. It seemed as though he s completely
disappeared. Obviously the search team would have searched this city inside out by now.
Suddenly, I had heard a loud voice, as if they had been screaming at the top of their lungs.

Hepatitis B And Its Effects
Hepatitis B is a genuine liver disease created by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). For some
individuals, hepatitis B contamination gets to be incessant, which means it keeps going over six
months. Having unending hepatitis B builds your danger of creating liver disappointment, liver
disease or cirrhosis which is a condition that causes lasting scarring of the liver. A great number of
people contaminated with hepatitis B as grown ups recuperate completely, regardless of the
possibility that their signs and side effects are extreme. Babies and youngsters will probably build
up a ceaseless hepatitis B contamination (MayoClinic).
Hepatitis C contamination additionally expands the danger of creating liver disease just like
hepatitis B. Until the 1980 s, hepatitis C virus (HCV) was known as non A non B hepatitis. The
underlying disease may have side effects, yet a critical number of individuals don t have side
effects. Not at all like hepatitis B, in which the ailment does not frequently get to be constant, have
around 80% of individuals with hepatitis C built up an endless disease. As the invulnerable
framework keeps on assaulting the infection after some time, fibrosis grows, in the end prompting
cirrhosis. This unending aggravation can likewise prompt liver growth. This infection is spread
through tainted blood, for example, with transfusions and IV drug misuse, however numerous
individuals don t have evident danger components for the sickness. It is currently suggested that

Speech On Owning A Kitten
Across the globe, cats are admired as loyal and entertaining house pets. While some pet owners
prefer fostering an adult cat, most feel it would be best to own a kitten, mainly since they are so
adorable. Yet simple steps must be followed, such as making your home secure, collecting supplies,
and keeping an eye on your kitten. No matter the breed, appearance, or size of your kitten, all
require care. Despite the large amount of money you will spend purchasing your kitten, your
currency will be well spent on a fun, new housepet. While it can be a challenge at times, make sure
you follow specific guidelines and you will succeed with your new pet.
Just like with a human baby, kitten proofing your house is an easy, quick process. Firstly, secure
any sharp objects, such as knives or forks, to prevent your pet from impaling itself. Since cats are
very curious, especially at a young age, ensure toilet bowls are closed; your kitten could fall in and
be unable to escape. Coп ver sharp corners of tables or chairs. Lastly, restrict other pets, such as
dogs, that may attempt to harm your kitten. However, this is not the only procedure ... Show more

Record any abnormal actions; for example, if it occasionally scratches or bites at its fur, it may
be a sign of fleas, tiny bugs that latch to the pelts of mostly dogs and cats and give them a very
problematic itch. Kittens have a tendency to teethe and scratch at whatever they can find, so
simply nudge it when it does this to you. If their habit gets too severe, you could purchase a small
scratching post and teach your kitten to claw at it. Never harm your kitten if it does bite or scratch;
you could intimidate it or possibly injure it, making it difficult to bond. For example, when your cat
makes a mistake in learning a trick, encourage it to try again. As one of the steps essential to
maintaining a kitten, observation of behavior is

Stalinist propagandist, and was designed and produced in the 1930s. The source is likely to be
heavily bias in favour of Stalin and the government at that time. Any satirical works could easily

Collectivisation had a big impact on Russia for both positive and negative reasons; it was a failure
in the aspect that it caused chaos in agriculture and due to the problems caused, millions died
due to famine and poverty in the short term. Grain harvests dropped dramatically during the
early 1930s and took until the late 1930s for yield to rise again. However, in the long run, a food
surplus was secured and so could be used to feed and pay for the industrial workforce needed for
the 5 year plan. It was also incredibly significant in history as it showed how much control Stalin
had over Soviet Russia and the fear that the peasants lived in; for example if they were caught
stealing even just a few pieces of grain they could be executed or imprisoned for up to 10 years.
The lasting impression that is received from the wide tolerance of this policy was how small and
insignificant the few rebellions were that were organised. This further demonstrates the power and
influence held over the peasants during this period of time. The five year plans were designed to
combat the lack of industrialisation in the Soviet Union by increasing the output of enterprises via
setting targets for the companies. If these targets were not met, due to the lawfulness of the plans,
the people responsible could be treated as if they had committed a criminal offence . Due to the fear

There are two parts in Jerusalem. There is the New City and the Old City. In the Old city there
are many temples, one of the most important being the Haram esh Sharif, or Venerable

place where they believe Jesus Christ was buried after coming off the Cross. There is also the
Wailing Wall that the Jews go to pray at. The Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque are
there for the Muslim community. Jerusalem is the third holiest site for the Muslim population

Social audit procedure.
The social audits are really important in order to implement the social standards. They aim to make
an assessment of the company s situation and offer the possibility to dicuss about the solutions
wich the company can develop in order to respect rules and laws.
There is three main steps for a social audit :
The mission framing: like any other audit, before starting the audit a prescriber has to send a letter
explaining his demand. This step permit to the auditor to clarify many points like : the targeted
objectives, the mission organisations conditions, the area on wich the audit is based.
The mission realization : the auditor is then going to define the reference table of the audit, in
particular by mobilizing standards, norms, codes of conduct and procedures (internal or external),
conventions or international recommendations, etc. and to draft and make share the guide of audit
before the realization of his mission. During the audit the auditor will regroup many information
with different tools (observation, interviews, questionnaires, etc)

Disadvantages Of Agriculture
Most of the people of the countryside in the developing nations are farm labourers, cultivators or
the small scale producers of manufactured goods and services. There exists an inverse relation
between the per capita income of a nation and the size of its rural population. Though a large part
of the total population is working and living in rural areas and is engaged in primary activities
especially farming, the share of agriculturein gross domestic product has been minimal which is the
main reason behind the low income generation in countries with large rural population. This
phenomenon clearly draws our attention to one of the most important issues in development i.e. the
pervasiveness of low agricultural productivity .
There has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In most of the less developed and developing countries the people involved in agriculture mostly
belong to the lower strata of the society. They are looked down upon and so is their profession
consequently agriculture is not seen as an attractive profession. This biasness takes various forms
out of which the, one which holds utmost importance for the large and small rural cultivators is
the inadequate provision of infrastructure and social overhead capital: crop storage facilities,
health clinics and schools, farm extension services, agricultural research, irrigation canals and
farm credit programs are deficient, if they exist at all. It means that for agricultural sector in
general and small scale agriculture in particular to prosper, it is necessary the above mentioned
large scale investment programs must be financed by the state itself to raise the productivity of
agriculture. Given the series of problems in agricultural sector it may take decades for positive
results to show their signs.
The state is less concerned with agriculture as they might not have adequate funds to invest in
agriculture, or they concentrate on short term gains achieved through industries and investment in
the urban areas. Apart from the investment in rural infrastructure to increase productivity,
investment in social sector initiatives like education and health is much needed in the rural areas.
These initiatives will raise the value of human capital and boost the productivity of the

Reflection Paper On Inequality
The lecture presented in class (Inequality in Education and Employment) was a particularly
salient topic for me. As part of my Bachelor s degree, in Philosophy, I was required to present and
defend a thesis. My thesis was a defense of democracy from the problems of distributive justice.
Over the course of two years, I spent countless hours reading, writing, and debating the fine points
on inequality. Therefore, the subject matter is not something new for me, nor do I think there is a
simple solution.
Reflecting on the information from the lecture, there were various aspects of inequality that
coincided with my research; however, there were two areas that I thought required further
consideration and contemplation. First, nowhere in the slides, in the lecture, nor in the discussions,
was justice mentioned. I find that particularly odd as the preliminary point of any inquiry into
inequality should start from the structural foundations of equality viz., justice.
Second, I was slightly confused by the slide (23) titled Workers with Disabilities Earn Less Than
Their Peers . The slide indicated that people with disabilities (PWDs) earned 37% less pay than
people without disabilities (PWODs). While I looked at the slide s bar graph, I could visually see
that the 37% figure did not match what was on the graph. This forced me to do some quick math
on what was represented. According to the values on the slide, the actual wage gap was 21%.
While this is still significant, it is not

A Research Study On Network Density While Managing...
It is quite impossible for a student to do his/her PhD in isolation. PhD is a research degree and
prime objective of the PhD research is to contribute to building scholarship of a field of study. As
in most cases, PhD students should work with a mentor or a group of mentors building networks is
necessary to facilitate such collaborative ventures in the academia.
In order to build networks in my field, I approach my mentors and fellow researchers whether I can
be a part of their research. Apart from that I always look for the opportunities to attend conferences
and seminars to be introduced with scholars in the field of my interest. Conference and seminars are
very useful means to build networks as many scholars share their contacts and research interests to
each other. I pick those scholars from the conference brochures whose research interest matches
with my own interests. I try to contact them after the conference and show my interest to
collaborate with them in publishing.
It is important to think about network density while managing networks and getting desired results
of those. I have been able to keep full network density while building and managing networks with
the scholars working in academia. Comparing to that, networks with practitioners, community
workers and other professionals are not that much dense. It is quite natural for me to have more
density in academic networks as I work in academia and prefer to build cross relationships with
other people in

October Sky Character Analysis
October Sky: Emotions Everyone s done it. Said something that was meant to sound like
something, but then sounded like they were saying it another way. Well I ve found a way to train
yourself into knowing how they meant to say it, you read a book and you try to identify the
emotions of the characters. In the memoir October Sky, the character, Homer Hickam, shows lots of
different emotions. The true story was published in1998, it s about a boy and his friends who build
and launch off their own rockets in their hometown Coalwood, West Virginia. In this story Homer s
biggest change is his emotions. Three examples would be: when he gets Mr. Bykovski resigned
to a different job and killed, when Ms. Riley gave him a rocket science book, and when he
launches off his final rocket in Coalwood. Wouldn t you feel guilty if you accidentally got
someone reassigned from their job, and then killed? Well Homer knows how that feels. When he
was first starting out in the rocket business he went to a friendly welder named Mr. Bykovski, Mr.
Bykovski agreed to help Homer. Homer s dad didn t approve of his rocket building activities, and
he claimed that Mr. Bykovski helped Homer steal, which earned Mr. Bykovski a promotion to title
as coal loader: He [Mr. Bykovski] smiled a sad smile. Anyways, perhaps it is a good thing he has
done I will make more money loading coal (114). Mr. Bykovski got in trouble for doing something

My Experience In Life And Different Experiences In My Life
All of us have a story to tell. Something that separates us from others. We may have similar
experiences, but what makes us different is how we handle them. In my life I have cherished
memories, hopes for my future, and heartaches that may never leave. Life can get complicated, but
it s all about figuring out who you are and who you want to be.
I would say I had a pretty good childhood. It was filled with good memories, great laughs, and lots
of fun. When I was 3, my parents divorced, but I can t really remember them ever being together
so it s never been an issue. At my mom s house I always spent a lot of time at my grandma s house
playing with my cousins. It was like having a bunch of brothers and sisters. We still have great
relationships between each other, even now in high school. On my dad s side, his family lives in
California so I don t get to see them as much, but the friends we hang out with are practically
family. Our neighbors have three kids from the ages 1 6. I consider them as three more siblings
pretty much. It s very warm and comfortable just like at my mom s. As for my school life, from
1st grade to 6th grade I went to the Catholic school here in Thorp. I had some pretty good years
there. Because there were only about 10 of us, it felt like another little family. In 7th grade is
when I transferred to the Public school. I think because I d gotten used to being in smaller groups,
coming to the Public school was a big deal with the class sizes being larger.

Henry Of Livonia And The Baltic Crusades
Henry of Livonia the Baltic Crusades
Missions to the Baltic are a little known aspect of the Crusading era. Although these missions
clearly fed off of and fostered the crusading zeal, there is some debate as to whether or not they
should all be considered crusades. While the campaigns against the Wends and Prussians were
authorized by papal bulls and officially recognized as crusades, it is unclear whether the campaigns
to Livonia and Esthonia in the 13th century can be rightfully called crusades. These campaigns
seem, in some ways, motivated more by economic than religious concerns. They received only
unofficial and inconstant papal endorsement, and never enjoyed the same number and status of
pilgrims as the crusades to the Holy Land. Yet they were missions organized to convert the Baltic
to Christianity and, as such, did receive some level of papal support. Can they, then, be considered
crusades?
Indulgences throughout the Crusades
It is important, first, to consider the nature of the crusading ideal. The First crusade was preached
on the basis of two ideals, one concrete and one symbolic. The first was that Christian pilgrims
were being physically harmed in the Holy Land. The second was that the Holy Land was the land
of Christ. Thus, it was imperative to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims. To anyone who
would do this, Pope Urban granted remission of sins.
It was not until the Second crusade that the first papal bull regarding the crusades was issued.

My Dream In Life
It was just another typical, and boring day in Hopedale, Massachusetts. Working on a farm
meant blood, sweat, and sometimes even tears. I walked up to the barn to milk the cows, and
fed freshly picked vegetables to the pigs, afterward I made my way two miles to the flea market
to sell my milk and wool. By the time I got back, it had reached dusk, the sky was filled with
gorgeous, bright stars that filled every crack of the dark night sky. I was exhausted and filthy, I
smelt like dirty socks that hadn t been washed in years. As soon as I got home, I hopped into the
shower, the warm water dripping from my hair to my toes. I ran my fingers through the rough
tangles in my curly brown hair. As I grabbed the shampoo bottle I could feel my feet burning
from the blisters on my the bottom of my feet. I turned knob on the left side of the shower to
turn off the water and reached for a dry towel and wrapped it around my waist. Water trickled
down my legs as I attempted to dry myself off. I slipped into my favorite warm pajama pants and
put on a large teal sweatshirt, then i got into bed and pulled the covers up to my face and
immediately dozed off into a deep sleep. I dreamt of the future a life filled of adventure with a
young boy that I could call my own. Suddenly, there was a loud, blaring sound coming from
across the room. RING RING RING RING I rushed to see where the commotion was coming
from, it was my phone, there were five missed calls from Jedd. Sweat rushed to my hands, he

Exoplanets are any sort of planet that inherently orbits a star. In this context, the sun cannot be
recognized as a star that will be orbited around. Exoplanets vary in size that can be smaller than
Earth or even larger than planets such as Jupiter and Saturn. Exoplanets are capable of orbiting their
starat various distances. The exoplanet is dependent to certain areas that navigates the distance
between it and the star that it is orbiting. Orbiting at the perfect distance depicts the exoplanet in the
star s habitable zone. Precisely meaning that the temperature is just right that allows water to be in

understand evolution and life. The production of the telescope is a collaboration between NASA,
the Canadian Space Agency and the European Space Agency. In terms of the structure of the
telescope, there are certain innovative technologies used on it that enhances the technological
advancements and development of the telescope. The mirrors used are made from beryllium, which
is very light weight. The telescope also has a very large multi layered sunshield, which reduces the
heat being absorbed from the sun. Another key innovation is that various instruments in the
telescope, including spectrometers and cameras, have detectors that can perceive various signals.
NASA s discovery of exoplanets was released in February of 2017. It publicized the finding of
several planets that were primarily similar to the size of Earth. These planets were established in
the habitable zone of a singular star, which is called TRAPPIST 1. The system includes seven
worlds that all have the possibility of containing water and various resources to acknowledge life.

Treatment of Religion and the Church in Pedro Paramo and...
Christianity has become, in over two millennia, the world s largest religion, spreading to almost
every corner of the world. Based on this fact, it does not come as much of a surprise that Juan
Rulfo s 1955 Mexican novel, Pedro Paramo, and Robertson Davies 1970 Canadian one, Fifth
Business, are both largely affected by this pervasive religion. What is interesting, however, is that
despite the vast differences in culture and time, a comparison can be made of the authors treatment
of Christianityand the church in the books, which both come to similar conclusions.
The first major similarity in the books on this particular subject is that both Rulfo and Davies show

One of the major faults that Rulfo portrays of the Church in Pedro Paramo, is that it fails in its
main responsibility of providing moral standards to the people of Comala. The novel illustrates
characters that have sinned more than any other, yet show little or no guilt. Rulfo s book
contains a careful listing of the cruelties that the Paramos inflicted on the people of Comala:
Rumor has it that your brother was murdered by [Miguel Paramo] and you believe that your

murdered that he killed nearly everybody who attended that wedding. 7 However, despite these
crimes, neither Miguel nor Pedro seems to feel any remorse for their actions. After listening to a
number of women confess to having sinned for either sleeping with Pedro Paramo, or bearing his
children, Father Renteria says, I kept waiting for him to come and confess something, but he never
did. 8 Renteria also refuses to absolve Miguel at first, saying, [he] died without forgiveness. 9

Subject Matter Jurisdiction In Criminal Justice
Define Jurisdiction.
According to dictionary.com, jurisdiction is the right, power, or authority to administer justice by
hearing and determining controversies (dictionary.com, n.d.). An example of jurisdiction would be
the courts of limited jurisdiction which is where small cases and criminal disputes that involves
small amounts of money is decided. Also, subject matter jurisdiction and in personam jurisdiction
are another type of jurisdiction. According to our textbook, subject matter jurisdiction is a court s
power to decide the type of dispute involved in the case (Mallory et al, 2016). In personam
jurisdiction is based on residence, location, or activities of the defendant (Mallory et al, 2016).
So, a state court would have in personam jurisdiction over a defendant who are citizens of the
state, who consents to court s authority or who are within states borders when the process is
served on them (Mallory et al, 2016). On what bases could a private dispute be decided in Federal
Court?

In Los Angeles, the band created a sensation, essentially starting the swing era. In fact, Goodman
became known as the King of Swing (Collier, 1989).
Swing was the dominant idiom of the 1930s and much of the 1940s. Basically, it was a form of
dance music played by a large band, and was the medium through which most white Americans first
heard Jazz (Schuller,1989). Although the decade 1935 45 was called the Swing Era, swing
arrangements had been played by large bands beginning in the 1920s. Bandleader arrangers Fletcher
Henderson, Duke Ellington, and, later, Count Basie, worked out arrangements for their 10 to 12
piece bands, which, unlike traditional jazz bands, were divided into instrumental sections.
The rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, and drums) maintained a steady, even beat; the saxophone
and brass sections countered each other with harmonized riffs and repeated figures, with section
leaders improvising over this background (Stewart, 1979).
Utilized almost exclusively for dancing, the music of the big bands borrowed heavily from the
techniques introduced by Henderson. Among the most popular bands were those led by Goodman,
Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, the Dorsey brothers, and Artie Shaw. As a counterpart of the highly
arranged orchestrations of these New York based bands, a Kansas City swing style developed
under the influence of Count Basie and Bennie Moten that emphasized a blues

The Tale Of Fairy Tales
1. What is the genre of this story? Are there any other possible genres this story could fall into?
This story is a Fairy tale. Fairy tales often have very archetypal and flat characters, often only
embellished in re tellings by various authors/story tellers. It can be presumed that this is because
most fairy tales come from European oral tradition, so only the most essential things about the plot
remain. In this case, the archetypal folkloric characters are the king, the princesses (the youngest
and oldest being the only two given lines), the wandering retired soldier (who s the protagonist), and
the wise old woman who inexplicably knows all that is going on and helps him with magical
items. There aren t any other genres this story could be, as fairy tales are a very niche category of
story, as it has a way of plot and characters that is very unique to it genre.

The Quebec Separatist Movement Of Canada
At some point, countries will fight for freedom at their breaking point. For example, during the mid
1900s, Canada did their own movement called the Quebec Separatist Movement. The movement
was about Quebec s independence from government. The movement involved the citizens of
Quebec and a group called Front de Liberation du Quebec(FLQ). The Front de Liberation du
Quebec had kidnapped people in Canada. The Quebec Separatist Movement began due to Quebec s
citizens ambition to become independent and was finally resolved by making a new constitution.
The historical context of the Quebec Separatist movement included The Quiet Revolution. The
Quiet Revolution was when small groups try to make Quebec independent especially FLQ. The
small groups members were Francophones, French speaking citizens. Their ideals was to make
Quebec independent from CanadaЕ› government. First, Canada made a bill stating that it will
create a better future for Canada. The Official Language Bill is a reflection of the nature of this
country as a whole and of a conscious choice we are making about our future. (World History:
The Modern Era) Canada thought it was necessary to have one language, and it will make them
feel united. After this bill was established, Canada s government regretted and believed that there
should be two official language. Yet the citizens of Canada were still deciding if they wanted that
law to pass. We believe in two official languages and in a pluralist society, not

Merchandise Philosophy Of Nordstrom Vs Neiman Marcus
Merchandise Philosophy of Nordstrom vs Neiman Marcus.
To encourage customers to purchase their products or items and spend more time shopping,
retailers utilize numerous strategies. A couple of this technique may be promotions or sales.
Another useful tactic to draw customers attention base on the retailers merchandising philosophy.
Such strategies are recognizable the minute the customer or potential customer enters the store.
Merchandising philosophy may include store design and atmosphere, product layout, price position,
the line of trade, location, parking and customer service. It is fundamental for a store to have an eye
catching scheme to attract its customers. Nordstrom, as well as Neiman Marcus, are two gigantic
departments stores ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus retailers had the same basic store structure, the
differences are noticeably visible in the costumer s eyes. Entering into Neiman Marcus,
customers have the feeling of having found a high class store. This sensation makes Nordstrom
rank as a store for people with an average purchasing power. Meaning, people of upper middle
class. Similar to Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus has a showcase on both sides of the main door.
The peculiar and different between both stores is reflected in the modern glass structure of the
Neiman Marcus showcase, in which the facade of the main door is made, together with its shop
windows or showcase. That structure provides it a luxurious touch of the last architecturally
speaking trend. Neiman Marcus shop windows, unlike those of Nordstrom, they are oversize and
have the same height as the main door although, they are wider. They occupy the entire main
façade or, almost all of it. In addition, they are always stinging some of the most exclusive
seasonal products in fashion in the show window. Neiman Marcus store does not have a central
corridor that takes you straight to the central stairs, placed in the center of the store. Nevertheless,
we can assume its main corridor or aisle is circular. A great strategy to make customers spend more
time in the store and buy products that were not on their list. The first thing you come across when
entering the store is a welcoming mannequin (in form of an elegant

Naturalist Themes In Stephen Crane s A Mystery Of Heroism
Naturalism Essay Stephen Crane is a Naturalist. Naturalists believe an individual s life is
determined by environment, chance, and heredity. They also believe that free will is an illusion
and that people should endure their suffering with quiet dignity. Lastly, Naturalists believe survival
of the fittest and natural selection govern people as well as nature, and people resort to the animal
during a crisis. Crane uses literary elements to create Naturalist themes in A Mystery of Heroism
and An Episode of War. Although both of the stories have Naturalist themes, Crane uses different
elements to create them. In Crane s A Mystery of Heroism he uses literary elements to create
Naturalist themes. One main belief of Naturalists is that someone s life is determined by
environment, chance, and heredity. Crane uses the setting and characters to create this theme. In the
story it says, Too, he wondered why he did not feel some keen agony of fear cutting his sense like
a knife. This quote shows that the main characteris not afraid. The setting of the war is one of the
reasons he does not feel fear. He has probably been in a more fearful situation since he has been
in the war. If he had not been a soldier and been in this setting he would be more fearful. Crane
uses characters to create this main idea by showing the other characters who argue with Collins
until he goes to the well. In A Mystery of Heroism it says, Of course, yeh will! Yeh ll run through
that there

Alliteration In The Wife s Lament
The Wanderer and The Wife s Lament are both an elegy written during the Anglo Saxon period,
which makes the style of writing very similar. The themes are both similar revolving around
sadness, exile, and lamenting which gives portrays a very melancholy, sorrowful, and wishful
mood. The stories both are scattered with caesuras everywhere, because these elegy s were often
memorized and repeated in this time period. Also, both stories include many figurative language
like alliteration and assonance. For example, my first on earth (8), turned round now (23 24),
seizes me here (33), at dawn am walking alone (35), hence I may not rest (39) are all assonances
found in The Wife s Lament. In The Wanderer , though woefully toiling (3), lonely and wretched
I wailed my woe (9), with gift in the mead hall (25), and shall come the loved counsel (34) are
some of the assonance in the story. There were also alliteration in both elegy s, but not as much
as there were assonances. In The Wife s Lament I found to seek service in my sorrow s need (10),
mournful of mind (19), and bitter with briars (31) while in The Wanderer there... Show more content

In The Wanderer, I found warriors memorial which means a funeral. Content wise, the stories
reveal that they have both been exiled. The wanderer is exiled in sea, while the woman has been
exiled to a foreign land. They are grieving a lot about the people they ve lost in their lives. For
the wanderer, it was his lord and his kinsmen while the woman was separated from her lord, the
one whom she loved. Although these stories may seem ridiculous because of how much the
narrators seem to exaggerate about the feelings they are going through, it was interesting to see the
comparisons and read about the emotions of how they coped with being separated from a loved

What Leadership Means, and Why It Matters in the Singapore...
The SAF defines Leadership as a process of influencing people to accomplish the mission, inspiring
their commitment, and improving the organisation 1. Leadership is a process of influencing others
to follow a given direction and it involves three components: the leader, the follower and the
outcome. To me, leadershipis about the 3Rs Reason, Responsibility and Respect.
Reason the leader should first has clarity and know the purpose of the outcome. Only then is he
able to communicate this to his followers and offer them a cause or objective that is interesting,
attractive or satisfying enough for them to wish to follow. This is the first step to motivate and
inspire their commitment.
Responsibility the leader must take responsibility and ownership of all actions and decisions made
during the process. He is to be responsible to his followers and guide them ethically.
Respect The process of influencing goes beyond the use of rank, hierarchy or authority as the
primary source of motivation to achieve the outcomes. The leader has to exhibit the correct values,
act in a way and adopt a style that is consistent with his values.
Leadership in the SAF is important because of the nature of the job. It involves people and risks
in all training and operations that we undertake. Our soldiers are the heart of Our Army and it is
good leadership at every level that inspires them to be dedicated, committed and engaged in the
defence of our nation.2 To

Social Norm In Society And Social Aspects Of Society
A norm is a behavior or unspoken rule that society has deemed as normal or acceptable. Those
who do not follow the norms of a group may be shunned or looked at as different. The norm I
will be violating for my project is asking people that I am unfamiliar with to do something simple
for me. It is not common for a stranger to ask another stranger to do something that they are
seemingly able to do. This normacts as a mechanism of social control by keeping people from
talking to those who are unfamiliar. It also puts forward the idea that we should be able to do all
simple tasks ourselves. To break this norm, I am going to wear tennis shoes with one of the laces
untied and ask strangers passing by to tie my shoe for me.
The range of possible reactions for this norm might be people who are willing to help a stranger tie
their shoe, people who ignore the question and keep walking, some might be hesitant and question
why, and people might say no straight away. I predict the major reaction to be people
questioning why can I not do it myself, and then they keep walking. I do not think the majority
of people will be willing to tie a stranger s shoe, especially since I look like I can easily do it
myself. I think reactions would be different if I had my hands full of something, like books.
The norm violation took place on the sidewalks of campus. I figured it would be more natural to
just walk up to someone that was already coming towards me. I made sure my shoe was already
untied,

Cause And Effects Of Texting And Driving
Does it seem like everywhere you go people are preoccupied with texting? Often people are seen
with the cell phone in one hand and texting while walking, in a restaurant eating with friends,
working or shopping. It has become a part of everyday life. The convenience and the need to stay
connected has made texting a useful method of communicating, that has increased dramatically
with teenagers. According to Dr. Delgado, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at
Perelman School of Medicine, Adolescents report that texting is the most common way that
they stay in contact with friends, sending an average of a hundred texts per day (para. 1). This
includes texting while driving. The effects of distracted driving from texting include legal
penalties, increase in insurance premiums, motor vehicle crashes, and even death. Texting while
driving has become a major problem in the United State and a simple LOL can have serious
consequences. The main cause of the texting craze is the ability to send and receive quick
messages. It is simpler than making a phone call and getting caught up in a conversion when your
time is limited. It also allows you to share and respond instantly so there is a sense of always
being connected to peers. Texting has become more popular than talking on the phone or even face
to face. So much so that texting has become the way that adolescents forge social bonds, and
texting between adolescents often serves to promote social cohesion in peer groups

Opal Card Essay
The Opal card is a contactless smartcard that is the new centrepiece of the new electronic
ticketing system implemented by Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS). It allows the user to top
up a balance either through manual loading (via Opal top up machines), or linked to a credit
card. This balance is used against Opal card readers to scan where the trip begins and ends,
automatically calculating the fare and deducting it from the balance on the card. In the event that
the trip has been started, but not finished (scanned only once within a day), a default fare will be
charged to the card. The Opal card needs to abide by the Identification cards Contactless integrated
circuit cards (ISO/IEC 14443) standard, depicting its physical dimensions (85.60mm Г— 54.00mm
Г— 0.76 mm), radio frequency (13.56 MHz), anti collision processes (bit collision detection
protocol) and transmission protocols (half duplex block transmission protocol). This new
ticketing system would be gradually introduced throughout the greater Sydney region, across all
190 stations of the Sydney train network by 28th March 2014 and then further extended to
include 52 more stations on the South Coast Line to Wollongong, Port Kembla and Bomaderry,
as well as the Southern Highlands Line to Goulburn by April 4. (McKenny, 2014). It will need to
accommodate more than 304 million passengers per year, averaging at about 1.5 million trips

Essay about Bix Beiderbecke
BIX BEIDERBECKE The virtuoso Leon Bix Beiderbecke was born in 1903 and died young in
1931. Though his life was short, Bix s legacy was long live. He was raised in Davenport, Iowa,
by his mother Agatha and father Bismark. He was the youngest of the German middle class
family, his father owned a lumber amp; coal company in east davenport while his mother was a
pianist. As a boy, Bix Beiderbeckehad a few piano lessons, but he was self taught on cornet and
developed an unorthodox technique by playing. He was blessed with the gift of a musical ear
which helped him greatly throughout his career because he was not able to read music very well.
Growing up Bix found his passion, which was to become a musician, it seemed that he would not let

more subdued manner with low and melodic notes. Biederbecke was known for putting solos
and creating a fluid sound. He had a unsual way of stringing together note choices. Bix was way
ahead of his time and influence many people for the next couple of decades. He played and gave
the audiences another option to listen to. Beiderbecke developed a beautiful and original style.
His cornet playing, noted for its brilliant phrasing and its clarity of tone. Beiderbecke also played
and composed at the piano throughout his working life, his famous pieces include In a Mist,
Flashes, Candlelights, and In the Dark. Their use of pandiatonicism, whole tone scales, and parallel
7th and 9th chords reflect his interest in impressionist harmonic language. Bix Beiderbecke played
cornet on four number one hit records in 1928 recorded with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra:
Together , number one for two weeks, Ramona , number one for three weeks, My Angel ,
number one for six weeks, and Ol Man River , with Bing Crosby on vocals, was number one for
one week. By contrast, Louis Armstrong did not have any number one records in the 1920s. Ol
Man River would be the first of 41 number one hits for Bing Crosby during his career.

Ban Zhao Lessons For Women
Although Ban Zhao was a woman, she was behind a sexist piece of literature meant for
instruction towards women. It isn t too hard to see this at face value, but there is more going on
here than just that in Lessons for Women . Ban Zhao was a woman who embraced the sexism and
strict gender roles in ancient China who also wrote for and taught women how to be like her in
this way, her style and perspective were certainly telling of this, and so was her word choice,
intentions, and audience.
Ban Zhao, was an unofficial imperial historian to Emperor Ho. She taught history, writings,
mathematics, and astronomy to Empress Teng and other women. She wrote this piece, Lessons
for Women , which was meant to instruct women how to behave and in many ways who to be.
She was even concerned about her own daughters in these sorts of ways. This impacts the
meaning of the piece in that it shows how deep the expected roles of people were drilled into the
heads of people across the world. Even a mother such as herself thought that these roles were
correct and ideal. It makes the modern interpretation even more shocking because you can see
that people who aren t viewed as equal don t even always realize it. She was writing for the
empire of China, and for the Emperors and Empresses, and for her daughters. The situation was at
a time when women were not necessarily viewed as equals to men. We can see how... Show more

Along the Ancient Chinese History, Qin State was the first one that conquered six major states and
unified China became Qin Dynasty. Under the rules of Qinshihuang, the first King of the Qin

the glory of QinDynasty only lasted for fifteen years due to the burning of books and burying of

The Qin s wars of unification
Before the Qin State became a Dynasty the Qin State had an unexceptionable start that changed
its destiny. Because of the most famous war that Qin State led, it lasted about ten years. In the
beginning of the Qin s wars of unification around 230 BC, Qin state was the first state declared
war on Han State and occupied most of the lands of Han State in only six months. Then Qin State
declared war on Zhao State, while Zhao was attacking Yan, Qin used the opportunity to send two
separate forces to invade Zhao. At that time Qin State conquered all the lands from Yangzijiang to
the south. In the end of the 223 BC, Qin State launched another attack on Chu State and captured
the capital of Chu and the king of Chu, and he was annexed by Qin. At the end of 221 BC, Qin

  • 2. Essay On Should The Uk Leave The European Union The United Kingdom made the right choice to leave the European Union, because they no longer have to pay membership fees, it makes it harder for terrorists to get in, and they can gain more independence. The UK left because they didn t want to pay membership fees to the EU. The UK will saving money not have to pay membership fees. According to Full Fact, The UK pays more into the EU budget than it gets back. ( The UK and EU Membership Fees, 2017) This is saying that when the UK paid the EU, they did receive money but they gave the EU more, than what they got. In 2016 the UK spend ВЈ13.1 billion in membership fees to the EU. Overall the UK got back ВЈ4.5 billion of that, so in the end the UK loses ВЈ8.6 billion. This fact shows that leaving the EU would save money because the UK wouldn t have to pay these fees.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rob Wainwright, chief of Europol said, Up to 5,000 terrorists trained by Islamic State in the Middle East are now back in Europe. This is certain to be a gross underestimate and anyway these numbers will grow. Many are experienced killers. While we remain in the EU these terrorists have the right to come freely into our country (UK). This means that there are a lot of terrorists in europe and the number will keep growing, being a part of the EU will give them the freedom to come into the UK. This makes it easier for terrorists to get inside the UK and cause damage. The UK doesn t want terrorists, so by leaving the EU terrorist from the EU can t just walk in. The last reason that the UK made the right choice is the United Kingdom gains more independence. The UK wanted more independence when they left, they wanted to make their own trades and ... • 4. Health Risks And Exposure Of Toxic Chemicals Health Risk and Exposure to Toxic Chemicals Many scientific researchers have said that our environment has been filled with toxic chemicals, which us humans have had a part of. There are many different issues that should concern us surrounding these toxic chemicals. The major concern is that many of these toxic chemicals have been claimed to be causing damage to the health of humans and even other life forms. Another concern is that most of the theses toxic chemicals have just recently been produced; and by our environment changing everyday there is no telling what effects these toxic chemicals may have in the long run on the public s health. Just about all of these toxic chemicals exist in the way they do because of humans. As humans we practice a lot of different activities that cause toxic chemicals to pollute our environment such as, agriculture, industrial, and many domestic activities as well. Many of the toxic chemicals that we produce and use don t get used in a effective way, which causes them to be wasted, left abandoned, and disposed of. When toxic chemicals are not disposed of properly they effect the environment and the public s health in a negative way. There are toxic chemicals surrounding all of us, no matter what part of the world we are in. We can t see them but we breathe them in and even eat them. Is osmosis a passive or an active process? Describe how osmosis occurs across the cell membrane. How can the solute concentration of the interstitial fluid affect cell shape? Be specific. (5 points) Osmosis is the movement of water molecules through a semi permeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration to equalize the solute concentrations on both sides. Osmosis is a passive process and does not require energy like an active process would. A semi permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules or ions to pass through, water being one of those molecules, thus allowing water to freely flow in and out of a cell. The cell must have equal concentrations on either side of the membrane to allow it to function, therefore water will pass in and out of the cell to equalize the concentration of ions of both sides. Solutions of different concentrations will pass water from the side with lower concentration to the side with higher concentration, thus changing the cell s shape. A cell that is placed in a hypertonic solution (solution concentration that is lower than cell s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gene And Betty Hoot Case Summary The Burger King of Florida v. Gene and Betty Hoots of Matoon, IL. Case The Hoots had remodeled a parking garage and turned it into a restaurant specializing in hamburgers, calling it, Burger King. They registered Burger King with the state of Illinois as a trademark, only to learn later that Burger King was a federally registered trademark of Burger King of Florida. Unable to reach an agreement, the case went to federal court. In a highly anticipated decision, the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that since Burger King of Florida had a federal registration, they had rights to the trademark anywhere in the United States except the area of Mattoon, where the Hoots had maintained previous authentic use. Therefore, the Hoots were allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After plaintiffs opened a restaurant in Champaign, Illinois, defendants sued in the state court to restrain plaintiffs use of the mark in Illinois. Plaintiffs then brought the federal suit, now before us, and the defendants counter claimed for an injunction, charging plaintiffs with infringement of their Illinois trade mark. The district court found that Burger King s property right in the trademark was superior to Hoots s because of the natural expansion of Burger King s business throughout Illinois but that Hoots still had the right to use its trademark in the area in which it first adopted it innocently without notice of Burger King s competing trademark. Hoots appealed. The district court concluded, from the unchallenged findings, that plaintiffs federal registration is prima facie evidence of the validity of the registration and ownership of the mark; that plaintiffs have both a common law and a federal right in the mark superior to defendants in the area of natural expansion of plaintiffs enterprise which logically included all of Illinois, except where defendants had actually adopted and used the mark, innocently, i. e., without notice and in good faith; and that the defendants had adopted and continuously used the mark in the Mattoon area innocently and were entitled to protection in that ... If so, I want you to imagine ten people in this room with you. They can be people you know or completely fictitious. Consider this. What if I told you that a virus could kill nine out of these ten people and there was nothing you could do to stop it? It is a scary thought, but one that carries real substance in various regions of Africa. In this paper, I will inform you on the virus known as Ebolawhich will include its history, inner workings, signs/symptoms, treatment, and prevention. (ResearchHistory.org Staff). What most people do not realize is that Ebola is not one virus. Ebola actually has five different subtypes. 1.Ebola Zaire 2.Ebola Sudan 3.Ebola Ivory Coast 4.Ebola Bundibugyo 5.Ebola Reston Of the five subtypes, Ebola Reston is the only one that does not cause illness in humans. (Kivi). The two first subtypes of Zaire and Sudan, usually occur simultaneously when an outbreak happens. The Ivory Coast subtype originated from CГґte d Ivoire s Tai forests in Africa. Initially contained to chimpanzees, humans soon got this subtype of Ebola due to improper containment procedures during autopsies of the chimps. The Bundibugyo subtype is the newest one discovered by modern medicine. Named after the Ugandan district from where it was first detected, Ebola Bundibugyo infected approximately 100 people in its 2007/2008 initial outbreak. Ebola viruses as a whole are incapable of naturally reproducing. By using the host cell to do this function, Ebola eventually ends up destroying the host cell. At a glance, Ebola is hard to diagnose since it exhibits symptoms similar to conditions such as malaria, cholera, and hepatitis. People in the first stages of Ebola will also exhibit influenza like symptoms such as the ones mentioned above on the first page. Use of a laboratory is required for confident diagnosis using on of these different tests. Often characterized primarily by the sudden onset of fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and ... • 8. How Does Mary Wroth Explore The Negative Aspects Of Love Within their respective works, both Ben Jonson and Mary Wroth explore the negative aspects of love in vastly different ways. Jonson trivializes love, and makes a woman appear shallow in, My Picture Left in Scotland . Jonson appears to be exploring a kind of superficial love, as well as his expectations for how great poets, such as himself, should be treated by woman. Alternately, Wroth expresses the terrible amount of pain that can come from lovein, Sonnet 68 . She clearly has experienced a great and devastating loss, and is reeling in the aftermath of losing some sort of genuine love. Both have quite different complaints about love, but share a similar tone, sense of hopelessness, and vivid imagery. The first similarity between these two works is simply the fact that in neither work does the reader... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Wroth s work, one merely learns that they broke her heart, and the way that the speaker now feels as a result. Similarly, in Jonson s work, the reader is only informed that this woman rejected the speaker of the poem. It would appear that both of the love interests within the works are not the focus of the pieces, but merely agents, which the poets can use to delve into the treacherous features of love. Both poets want the reader to focus not on who broke their heart, but on ulterior messages within the works. There is a tone of both desperation and hopelessness in both of the works. Jonson is coming to the realization that since he is unattractive it will be hard for him to obtain a relationship. In the opening stanza, he speaks of how love is not blind, but it is deaf. He is talking about the fact that women do notice that he is unattractive, and they reject him based on this. He believes that love cannot be blind, due to the fact that besides his looks, he has other positive attributes that are being ignored, due to his looks. Jonson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Research Paper On Isis Daniel Gomes World Religions: M: 6:30 9:30 Jason File November 20, 2017 Isis of Egypt The Egyptian Goddess Isis, whom is the Goddess of Health, Marriage, and Wisdom, has been widely worshipped amongst many religions throughout history seeing as her influence was able to spread outside Egypt as Isis s influence spread also to the Greco Roman world as well. The contrast of her worship in the Egyptian world and the Greco Roman world is particularly fascinating as her worship had evolved over the course of time. In each of these time periods, as her worship continued temples were built in her name in Egypt and in Greece. The origins of Isis aren t entirely known, however the first evidence of Isis was found in the fifth dynasty in the sun temple of Niuserre. Even though this is the first evidence of Isis, some like Maria Muenster makes the case that Isis was the oldest of the gods, and that she came before the Old Kingdom of Egypt, There, in the beginning was Isis. Oldest of the old, she was the goddess from whom all Becoming arose. And later continues to say, In all her great and wonderful works she was a wiser magician and more excellent than any other god. This all remains to be speculation however, since her claims are based on a lack of archaeological evidence. Isis s elusive origins remains a common topic in Ancient Egypt history. Isis s name means throne, and as she is depicted in the Ancient Egyptian culture, her headdress is a throne. Isis was a representation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While some pet owners prefer fostering an adult cat, most feel it would be best to own a kitten, mainly since they are so adorable. Yet simple steps must be followed, such as making your home secure, collecting supplies, and keeping an eye on your kitten. No matter the breed, appearance, or size of your kitten, all require care. Despite the large amount of money you will spend purchasing your kitten, your currency will be well spent on a fun, new housepet. While it can be a challenge at times, make sure you follow specific guidelines and you will succeed with your new pet. Just like with a human baby, kitten proofing your house is an easy, quick process. Firstly, secure any sharp objects, such as knives or forks, to prevent your pet from impaling itself. The poster was designed by Vera Sergeyevna Korableva, a pro Stalinist propagandist, and was designed and produced in the 1930s. The source is likely to be heavily bias in favour of Stalin and the government at that time. Collectivisation had a big impact on Russia for both positive and negative reasons; it was a failure in the aspect that it caused chaos in agriculture and due to the problems caused, millions died due to famine and poverty in the short term. Grain harvests dropped dramatically during the early 1930s and took until the late 1930s for yield to rise again. However, in the long run, a food surplus was secured and so could be used to feed and pay for the industrial workforce needed for the 5 year plan. It was also incredibly significant in history as it showed how much control Stalin had over Soviet Russia and the fear that the peasants lived in; for example if they were caught stealing even just a few pieces of grain they could be executed or imprisoned for up to 10 years. The lasting impression that is received from the wide tolerance of this policy was how small and insignificant the few rebellions were that were organised. This further demonstrates the power and influence held over the peasants during this period of time. The five year plans were designed to combat the lack of industrialisation in the Soviet Union by increasing the output of enterprises via setting targets for the companies. As part of my Bachelor s degree, in Philosophy, I was required to present and defend a thesis. My thesis was a defense of democracy from the problems of distributive justice. Over the course of two years, I spent countless hours reading, writing, and debating the fine points on inequality. Therefore, the subject matter is not something new for me, nor do I think there is a simple solution. Reflecting on the information from the lecture, there were various aspects of inequality that coincided with my research; however, there were two areas that I thought required further consideration and contemplation. First, nowhere in the slides, in the lecture, nor in the discussions, was justice mentioned. I find that particularly odd as the preliminary point of any inquiry into inequality should start from the structural foundations of equality viz., justice. Second, I was slightly confused by the slide (23) titled Workers with Disabilities Earn Less Than Their Peers . The slide indicated that people with disabilities (PWDs) earned 37% less pay than people without disabilities (PWODs). While I looked at the slide s bar graph, I could visually see that the 37% figure did not match what was on the graph. This forced me to do some quick math on what was represented. • 28. Henry Of Livonia And The Baltic Crusades Henry of Livonia the Baltic Crusades Missions to the Baltic are a little known aspect of the Crusading era. Although these missions clearly fed off of and fostered the crusading zeal, there is some debate as to whether or not they should all be considered crusades. While the campaigns against the Wends and Prussians were authorized by papal bulls and officially recognized as crusades, it is unclear whether the campaigns to Livonia and Esthonia in the 13th century can be rightfully called crusades. These campaigns seem, in some ways, motivated more by economic than religious concerns. They received only unofficial and inconstant papal endorsement, and never enjoyed the same number and status of pilgrims as the crusades to the Holy Land. Yet they were missions organized to convert the Baltic to Christianity and, as such, did receive some level of papal support. Can they, then, be considered crusades? Indulgences throughout the Crusades It is important, first, to consider the nature of the crusading ideal. The First crusade was preached on the basis of two ideals, one concrete and one symbolic. The first was that Christian pilgrims were being physically harmed in the Holy Land. The second was that the Holy Land was the land of Christ. Thus, it was imperative to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims. To anyone who would do this, Pope Urban granted remission of sins. • 33. Treatment of Religion and the Church in Pedro Paramo and... Christianity has become, in over two millennia, the world s largest religion, spreading to almost every corner of the world. Based on this fact, it does not come as much of a surprise that Juan Rulfo s 1955 Mexican novel, Pedro Paramo, and Robertson Davies 1970 Canadian one, Fifth Business, are both largely affected by this pervasive religion. What is interesting, however, is that despite the vast differences in culture and time, a comparison can be made of the authors treatment of Christianityand the church in the books, which both come to similar conclusions. The first major similarity in the books on this particular subject is that both Rulfo and Davies show Christianity and the church as being flawed. Father Renteria, the local ... One of the major faults that Rulfo portrays of the Church in Pedro Paramo, is that it fails in its main responsibility of providing moral standards to the people of Comala. The novel illustrates characters that have sinned more than any other, yet show little or no guilt. Rulfo s book contains a careful listing of the cruelties that the Paramos inflicted on the people of Comala: Rumor has it that your brother was murdered by [Miguel Paramo] and you believe that your niece Ana was raped by him. 6, Pedro Paramo slaughtered so many folks after his father was murdered that he killed nearly everybody who attended that wedding. 7 However, despite these crimes, neither Miguel nor Pedro seems to feel any remorse for their actions. After listening to a number of women confess to having sinned for either sleeping with Pedro Paramo, or bearing his children, Father Renteria says, I kept waiting for him to come and confess something, but he never did. 8 Renteria also refuses to absolve Miguel at first, saying, [he] died without forgiveness. 9 Similarly, in Fifth Business, the character ... In Los Angeles, the band created a sensation, essentially starting the swing era. In fact, Goodman became known as the King of Swing (Collier, 1989). Swing was the dominant idiom of the 1930s and much of the 1940s. Basically, it was a form of dance music played by a large band, and was the medium through which most white Americans first heard Jazz (Schuller,1989). Although the decade 1935 45 was called the Swing Era, swing arrangements had been played by large bands beginning in the 1920s. Bandleader arrangers Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, and, later, Count Basie, worked out arrangements for their 10 to 12 piece bands, which, unlike traditional jazz bands, were divided into instrumental sections. The rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, and drums) maintained a steady, even beat; the saxophone and brass sections countered each other with harmonized riffs and repeated figures, with section leaders improvising over this background (Stewart, 1979). Utilized almost exclusively for dancing, the music of the big bands borrowed heavily from the techniques introduced by Henderson. Among the most popular bands were those led by Goodman, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman, the Dorsey brothers, and Artie Shaw. As a counterpart of the highly arranged orchestrations of these New York based bands, a Kansas City swing style developed under the influence of Count Basie and Bennie Moten that emphasized a blues ... Fairy tales often have very archetypal and flat characters, often only embellished in re tellings by various authors/story tellers. It can be presumed that this is because most fairy tales come from European oral tradition, so only the most essential things about the plot remain. In this case, the archetypal folkloric characters are the king, the princesses (the youngest and oldest being the only two given lines), the wandering retired soldier (who s the protagonist), and the wise old woman who inexplicably knows all that is going on and helps him with magical items. Lastly, Naturalists believe survival of the fittest and natural selection govern people as well as nature, and people resort to the animal during a crisis. Although both of the stories have Naturalist themes, Crane uses different elements to create them. In Crane s A Mystery of Heroism he uses literary elements to create Naturalist themes. One main belief of Naturalists is that someone s life is determined by environment, chance, and heredity. Crane uses the setting and characters to create this theme. In the story it says, Too, he wondered why he did not feel some keen agony of fear cutting his sense like a knife. This quote shows that the main characteris not afraid. The setting of the war is one of the reasons he does not feel fear. He has probably been in a more fearful situation since he has been in the war. If he had not been a soldier and been in this setting he would be more fearful. The SAF defines Leadership as a process of influencing people to accomplish the mission, inspiring their commitment, and improving the organisation 1. Leadership is a process of influencing others to follow a given direction and it involves three components: the leader, the follower and the outcome. To me, leadershipis about the 3Rs Reason, Responsibility and Respect. Reason the leader should first has clarity and know the purpose of the outcome. Only then is he able to communicate this to his followers and offer them a cause or objective that is interesting, attractive or satisfying enough for them to wish to follow. This is the first step to motivate and inspire their commitment. Responsibility the leader must take responsibility and ownership of all actions and decisions made during the process. He is to be responsible to his followers and guide them ethically. Respect The process of influencing goes beyond the use of rank, hierarchy or authority as the primary source of motivation to achieve the outcomes. The leader has to exhibit the correct values, act in a way and adopt a style that is consistent with his values. Leadership in the SAF is important because of the nature of the job. It involves people and risks in all training and operations that we undertake. Those who do not follow the norms of a group may be shunned or looked at as different. The norm I will be violating for my project is asking people that I am unfamiliar with to do something simple for me. It is not common for a stranger to ask another stranger to do something that they are seemingly able to do. This normacts as a mechanism of social control by keeping people from talking to those who are unfamiliar. It also puts forward the idea that we should be able to do all simple tasks ourselves. To break this norm, I am going to wear tennis shoes with one of the laces untied and ask strangers passing by to tie my shoe for me. The range of possible reactions for this norm might be people who are willing to help a stranger tie their shoe, people who ignore the question and keep walking, some might be hesitant and question why, and people might say no straight away. I predict the major reaction to be people questioning why can I not do it myself, and then they keep walking. I do not think the majority of people will be willing to tie a stranger s shoe, especially since I look like I can easily do it myself. This includes texting while driving. The effects of distracted driving from texting include legal penalties, increase in insurance premiums, motor vehicle crashes, and even death. Texting while driving has become a major problem in the United State and a simple LOL can have serious consequences. The main cause of the texting craze is the ability to send and receive quick messages. It is simpler than making a phone call and getting caught up in a conversion when your time is limited. It isn t too hard to see this at face value, but there is more going on here than just that in Lessons for Women . Ban Zhao was a woman who embraced the sexism and strict gender roles in ancient China who also wrote for and taught women how to be like her in this way, her style and perspective were certainly telling of this, and so was her word choice, intentions, and audience. Ban Zhao, was an unofficial imperial historian to Emperor Ho. She taught history, writings, mathematics, and astronomy to Empress Teng and other women. She wrote this piece, Lessons for Women , which was meant to instruct women how to behave and in many ways who to be. She was even concerned about her own daughters in these sorts of ways. This impacts the meaning of the piece in that it shows how deep the expected roles of people were drilled into the heads of people across the world. Even a mother such as herself thought that these roles were correct and ideal. It makes the modern interpretation even more shocking because you can see that people who aren t viewed as equal don t even always realize it. She was writing for the empire of China, and for the Emperors and Empresses, and for her daughters. The situation was at a time when women were not necessarily viewed as equals to men. We can see how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I explained, there is more going on here than just harmless guidance in Lessons for Women .
