ISSN 0251 3552, www.nuso.org A major transition for a great transformation
Reflections from the Yasuní ITT Initiative
René Ramírez Gallegos1
When discussing the development of a political project from the Left there are two opposing positions
or aspects: those which promote the idea of better managing and regulating capitalism that is, striving
for good capitalism and those who hold anticapitalist positions. The author of this article argues that a
Left that does not give up on the generation of alternatives to capitalism but at the same time is
responsible for governing, should think about a great transition without losing sight ... Show more

This publication does not seek to discuss Ecuador ́s political proposal towards building said socialism
exhaustively or in depth. This analysis has been developed at length in other writings4 and is also
embodied in the National Plan for Good Living, 2009 20135. In this occasion, it is more pertinent to
posit a philosophical political analysis of one of the flagship initiatives that Ecuador has presented to
the world and that is a symbolic example of the dispute of the logic of capitalist development : the
Yasuní ITT6 Initiative. This project consists of keeping the oil underground (not drilling for it) in one
of the most mega diverse areas of the world, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In that sense it is a
concrete example of the ways a society of good living can be built. The framework for this analysis is
a discussion taking place globally among a certain branch of Leftist thought that believes that what is
most progressive and achievable nowadays is to devise and construct improvements in the
administration of capitalism in other words, to promote its good 7 side and another stance, which
presents anti capitalism from a purely theoretical perspective, regardless of the political viability of
their proposals.
Before delving into the debate on the Yasuní ITT Initiative, in the first part of this article I would like
to place the proposal to keep the oil underground in context, so

Parse s Theory Of Human Becoming
Parse s theory of human becoming is one of the influential theory in nursing. It basically helps to
guides nurses as they care for the sick to concentrate on the quality of life their patients lived as they
go through that difficult time. Parse s theory of human becoming consisted of three structures, which
are, meaning, rhythmicity, and transcendence. Parse s theory of human becoming described meaning
as the experiences and reality that one lived (Nursing theory, 2011). On the other hand, Parse s theory
of human becoming described rhythmicity as Human Becoming is co creating rhythmical patterns of
relating in mutual process with the universe (Nursing theory, 2011). While Parse s theory of human
becoming described transcendence as going beyond certain limits that one possesses. This paper will
discuss Parse s theory of Human Becoming as well as another theory contribution to the advancement
of knowledge in support or multidisciplinary science or teams.
Case Study
The nurse could actualize Parse s theory of human becoming by helping to develop a plan of care for
the patient, and also to guide the patient through the stages of Parse s theory of human becoming using
the meaning, rhythmicity, and transcendence. Parse s understanding of transcendence may guide the
nurse as Ann s death became a reality to Ben by comforting ben, be there for him by assisting him
with anything he might need. The needs to also offer Ben and his wife the opportunity to have a

The Dressing Of A Medical Assistant
It is very important that when a patient needs a dressing changed that it is performed correctly and
sterile. The first and foremost important step in any procedure is to perform proper hand hygiene.
Next, obtain all necessary items on a Mayo stand. Most items involved in dressings are within a
dressing packet that is enclosed until it needs to be used. The patient should be in a comfortable
position while the procedure is being done with the area with the dressing on a supported area. The
next most important step in any procedure for the medical assistant is to apply gloves. When removing
a dressing, loosen the tape and pull from both sides toward the wound. Immediately, place the dirty,
soiled dressing into a biohazard waste bag without touching

Barbie Doll Is Bad
An Imperfect Barbie Doll In today s society, there are many people who strive to show that perfection
has never really existed, that each individual woman is beautiful as herself, the way she is, and that no
one is the same. Contemporary culture works to prove the fact that people are all different shapes,
sizes, and colors, and that that s okay. People s differences are what make them all perfect in their
way; likewise, things that may be considered weaknesses and flaws are also inherently our own and
thus part of what makes them who they are. As the years pass more and more people are recognizing
the harmful way that society and particularly modern media impose harmful expectations upon
women. It is high time for all people to wake the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The World Is Flat !, By Thomas L. Friedman
When using Chanel s cosmetics, when drinking Danone yogurt with breakfast, when driving Ford
motor the way home, global brands which are highly visible symbol of the increasing integration of
world market, could been discovered around everywhere. As Thomas L. Friedman (2005) states,
World is flat! , which means world is being shrunk by the spreading of globalisation.
Globalisation, a result of social development, can be described as the increase in cross broader trade
and influence on the economic and social behaviour of nation states (David Begg, 2003:272). This
process has affected the world widely and deeply, principally in economics, industrial, technological,
political and cultural aspects.
Over the past decade, as the liberalization of national and openness of global markets, globalisation
has benefitted the world significantly, such as income improved, increase of imports and exports,
industrial development, thus, free flow of trade, capital and information have produced the best
outcome for growth and human welfare. Therefore, it is little doubt that globalisation has positive
impact on developed and developing countries. When it comes to China, ever since it formally joined
WTO, great benefits has been gained from the international trade while a huge boost to the
collaboration with other countries.
The issue of globalisation in China, including demonstrating why globalisation is beneficial for China,
the status quo situation of globalisation in China, and the

Compare And Contrast Alexander III And Alexander II
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the different reforms implemented by both Alexander
II and Alexander III. Also looking at how it effected Russia in general
After the Crimean war Russia had suffered a devastating defeat, Alexander II decided that there had to
be change in his country in order to make Russia successful again. Alexander II was also known as the
Liberator , this was mainly due towards his reform on emancipation towards the serfs. 40 million serfs
were freed in 1861. The reason for this reform is questionable but Alexander II was probably trying to
prevent the lower classes from having a revolution.
Serfs now had the right to marry without interference and could also own land. However they did have

However the economy surprisingly did still grow under him. The reasons for this might have been
because of the stocks and banks opened up by Alexander II.
Alexander II s reforms were great developments but was unfortunately not that effective. On the other
hand Alexander III reformed quite a lot of them. He was not a bad person for doing this but it may be
because he lacked confidence. To be a successful ruler, it is important to receive a good education and
Alexander III did not receive this. He loved his family very much and had to assure his family and
himself even though many saw him as incompetent as a tsar.
Alexander III in the end decided to reverse everything his father Alexander III brought to Russia.
Alexander II was probably not the most liberal man to ever live however he did bring some hope
which had never been present before he ruled. Alexander II had many successful reforms that helped
the nation grow politically and economically. After Alexander II s extremely brutal death his son,
possibly feared he would have a similar death and as a result changed everything to the previous state
before Alexander II came to

Justification Of Hester Prynne
The Puritans Are Justifiable In D.H. Lawrence s writing The Scarlet Letter by, Nathaniel Hawthorne,
Lawrence shares his beliefs that Hester Prynne is fully guilty in the Puritan society for committing the
sin of adultery. Lawrence believes that all women have the ultimate goal of seducing men. He feels
very strongly that Hester s character should not have any heroic praise, and he finds ways of justifying
the way the Puritans beliefs. Lawrence uses methods of brief repetition, direct syntax, and complacent
tone to convey that Hester Prynne is guilty. D.H. Lawrence uses brief repetition to represent that
Hester is guilty of sin. Lawrence finds ways of writing repetition in the attempt to get his point across
without hesitation when he states, Adulteress, Alpha, Abel, Adam, America (Lawrence). He is able to
fully convey that Hester is sinful with negatively connotated words that are organized in a repetitive
way. Relating Hester to Abel represents his dislike towards her as well as shows her sin because it
represents how low he views her. Abel was not an innocent character, to say the least. Lawrence uses
this comparison in a way that flips their roles in a sense, and it draws a huge impact. Lawrence finds
ways of camouflaging the ways he uses repetition as well, Worship her there. The Woman, the Magna
Mater (Lawrence). By saying that she is a women and then writing that she is just a fertility mother, he
concludes her guilt as sinful for committing her actions and

Importance Of My High School Football Team
A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school team
where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of students in the
team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined the football team in
high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came to America, the
transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse community of my High
School Football Team by developing my knowledge about football, communicating, and making
friends with team members from different culture and social group. My journey to the school team
was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football team because students are taught to be
responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football team was a great opportunity for me to make a
lifelong friendship with other players learning about leadership, communicating, and working with a
team. Just like other players, I played with a hope of getting a scholarship for college. I began with
desired to become a true member of this community, but I was so determined that I end up leading a
team by becoming a team captain. Therefore, it is important for everybody to learn the experiences of
others because there might be somebody out there who wants to be part of any team, but maybe they
are afraid to step up to join that team thinking he or she is different among all. It doesn t matter who

History of the Viola s Role in Part-Writing for Chamber Music

Mini Research Paper #2
History of the Viola s Role in Part Writing for Chamber Music
There is considerable debate amongst scholars as to whether the birth of the viola preceded or
succeeded that of the violin. However, iconographic and documentary evidence indicate that the
violin, viola, and cello most likely evolved together as a family of instruments very early in the
sixteenth century and almost certainly in northern Italy.
Part writing for the viola in chamber music has changed dramatically over time. By the end of the
seventeenth century, while the violin had remained popular in chamber music, the viola was very
much neglected. It was not until the end of the eighteenth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The end of the eighteenth century marked a change in the treatment of the viola in chamber music.
The change came about partly because a basic concept of late eighteenth century chamber music was
that a single player played each part (thus setting chamber music apart from the orchestra where each
string part . . . was played by several players). [2] A greater equality of part writing can be observed in
the mature chamber music, especially string quartets, of Mozart and Beethoven. In Mozart s last string
quartet (K. 590, 1790), the part writing is equalized, and solos are given to the viola, with a
considerable degree of virtuosity demanded of the instrument. In the passage below, the first violin
states the melody and then two bars later the viola plays the same passage just an octave lower.
Example 1. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, String Quartet no. 23, k. 590, 1st Movement, mm. 51 54[3]

This example clearly demonstrates equal part writing for the viola with that of the violin or the other
instruments. In conclusion, it is difficult to answer the question as to why the viola fell out of favor in
chamber music from the time period following its birth in the early sixteenth century to the end of the
seventeenth century. One possible reason is that no parts of

There was me and my three best friends in the entire world Sam and Kat and Jo. We had a group of
friends, which we called the group. The only thing you need to know about the group is that: 1. We
were separated into the guys and us the girls, and 2. Is that we did everything together. Our favorite
activity included sleepovers and playing monster pong, our version of beer pong without the alcohol.
However, this story is just about the girls of the group. There is, Sam was the brains of the friendship.

Probably because she would always make us feel like crap by putting us down. Then there was me. I

year. All four of us basically lived at each other s houses. We were at the pool almost every day, and if
we were not at the pool we were lying in bed watching movies. This was the happiest I had ever been.
We were all just genuinely happy. Towards the end of the summer, Kat, Sam and I were hanging out a
lot more and starting to keep our distance from Jo. Once school started the three of us really started
hanging out a lot more and we had our own group message. We never saw Jo any more because none

Furthermore, according to Michael E. Porter: Strategy is the creation of a unique and valuable
position, involving a different set of activities. The essence of strategic positioning is to choose
activities that are different from rivals . (M. E. Porter, Harvard Review) However, creating sustaining
competitive advantage in business is not just uniqueness or being different. While well built core
competencies and competitive capabilities are key support in performing strategy, they are just as
significant for securing a competitive edge over competitors in position where it is quite easy for
rivals to copy smart strategies. Thomson et al (2004) states that: Any time rivals can readily duplicate
successful strategy features, making it difficult or impossible to out strategize rivals and beat them in
the marketplace with a superior strategy, the chief way to achieve lasting competitive advantage is to
out execute them. (Thomson et al, 2004:254) Moreover, it is very hard to create a strategy which
nobody could copy and that the strategy would last long term. Usually, the core competence or
capability emerges incrementally. As Johnson et al (2005) illustrates in The Risk of Strategic Drift.
This is understood as step by step changes. What was working in the past, will be working in the
future. There are no significant changes in the existing strategy. Johnson et al uses the study of
strategic lenses and suggest that: Experience lens views strategy development

Common Themes in Speeches by Passionate Leaders
An effective and enthralling speech does not only relate to the content or context, but to the
appropriate utilisation of rhetorical techniques and structure that contest universal requisite ideas, past,
present and future that captivate and engage audiences. Since the beginning of time, society has been
presented with inspirational and passionate leaders who deliver speeches that remain invaluable due to
their themes regarding peace, security, prejudice, equality and basic human rights. These themes are
explored in Anwar Sadat s, Aung San Suu Kyi and Faith Bandlers unique speeches Statement to the

Global health is defined as health problems, issues, or concerns that transcend national borders

Letters on England by Voltaire
Letters on England is a small collection of letters written by Voltaire (born François Marie Arouet) in
1733 which offers a survey of societal England from the view of a Frenchmen. The original Letters on
England, titled Lettres philosophiques, was written in English by Voltaire. This first edition was quite
a cumbersome read and so in 1980 Leonard Tancock retranslated the book to English from a previous
French edition. Just a few years prior to the release of Letters on England, Voltaire had been
imprisoned by France and then exiled to England. This incarceration and banishment was in response
to satirical compositions written by Voltaire that the French political powers felt undermined their
rule. Despite harsh censorship laws, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to insights on religion, Voltaire also detailed his own understanding of the politics and
economics in Europe during the time of the Enlightenment. During this time, an absolute monarchy
ruled France while the English had what Voltaire saw as a limited monarch with an involved
democracy. France was ruled using bribery, force, and corruption while England was governed though
compromise and negotiations. Voltaire himself believed in political moderation and defense of civil
liberties. He also observed the differences in economics between the two countries. Free trade was
discouraged in France, to the point that some noblemen lost their rank if they participated in such
commerce. Contrasting this, Voltaire saw that the English encouraged trade and tradesmen were even
held in high regards. He believed that this difference in economics was what gave England access to
their freedoms. Furthermore, Voltaire had a great respect for England s stance on the sciences and
philosophy. Since the beginning of man, religion has served as both a guide to moral behavior and as
an explanation to elucidate the physical world. Up until the 17th and 18th centuries, most explanations
of things pertaining to the natural world were religiously based or simply established on deductive
reasoning alone. When the Enlightenment Era began, new ideas of reasoning came to

The gas giving off from the space shuttles break up the molecules of the ozone layer (Rastogi, 2009).
Decreasing the molecules that make up the ozone layer has a direct impact of climate change
specifically global warming. The space shuttles and rockets give off the gases into the middle and
upper troposphere of the atmosphere which causes the breakup of the ozone rapidly. Professor Darin
Toohey of CU Boulder s atmospheric and oceanic sciences department who research the relationship
between NASA s space missions and the ozone layer stated, If left unregulated, rocket launches by the
year 2050 could result in more ozone destruction than was ever realized by CFCs, (Toohey,2009). The
aluminum oxide that is emitted from space shuttles contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer by
producing chemical surface active areas (Toohey,2009). There is no absolute guarantee benefit from
exploring Space. We don t know if we can even safely make it to the moon. So why spend billions of
dollars every year for NASA s programs to explore space. The money spend on the exploration could
be used to help poverty and major health issues around the world which is a guarantee benefit. Also it
will decrease the environmental issues that are caused by launching space shuttles into space.

Jaggar s Song Sympathy For The Devil
1) Sympathy For The Devil from Beggar s Banquet (1968)
This song is sung in first person with Jaggar taking the role of the devil. The catchy Woo woooo
background vocals will carry you along as the beat rolls this masterpiece forward. Pleased meet you.
Hope you guessed my name. As per usual for The Rolling Stones, the lyrics alone are a stand alone
work of art.
2) Tumbling Dice from Exile on Main St. (1972)
This is a great song about a gambling, womanizing, and boozing man. This is one of the more simply
structured songs on this list... following a more traditional verse chorus structure, but in this case that s
a good thing. It s a song that you ll have stuck in your head long after your first listen. Baby, I can t

My favorite part of the song is the amazing guitar solo that combines with the backing vocalist for an
amazing solo. This anti war song came out of the end of the Vietnam War and carries the sentiment of
that era.
4) Can t Always Get What You Want from Let It Bleed (1969)
Two songs in a row from Let It Bleed (it s a great album!). This is a resilient ballad preaching a
smiling picture of karma and the universe. You can t always get what you want, but if you try
sometimes you just might find you get what you need. This enduring line encompasses the message
and tone of the song. Notice the subtle use of the Hammond organ to build the energy of the song to a
frenetic climax to end the song. What a great example of how dynamic The Rolling Stones songs are
in general.
5) Rocks Off from Exile On Main St. (1962)
A gritty bluesy rock song, put simply, Rocks Off rocks. This song, perhaps more than any other on this
list, captures the true nature and style of the band. With songs like this they changed the direction and
development of rock and roll. But I only get my rocks off while I m dreaming. I only get my rocks off

Essay On Britney Spears
Britney Spears once said, My life was too much under the control of too many people and that did not
allow me to be myself. When you re not in control you re less excited, less passionate. She
acknowledged the fact that her life was controlled by others, and finally decided to take it into her own
hands. Britney Spears is a social outcast that believes in expressing one s true self by doing what he or
she pleases, regardless of the attention it draws. In early 2007, Britney Jean Spears became very
overwhelmed with stress and power. Although it looks very effortless, being an influential role model
is a lot of hard work. All individuals have duties to fulfill in order to complete their personal
responsibilities. Celebrities must follow very stern rules that are mainly arranged by their managers.
They must act a certain way in public, on stage, around fans, and during interviews. Over time, these
guidelines can cause great harm to one s self respect. All people should have the right to reveal who
they really are on the inside (Joyner). It all started with her drastic change in hair style. On February
18, 2007, she decided to change it up a bit. Britney Spears has always been known for having silky,
luxurious hair. However, she felt the need to get rid of it. Britney later took a pair of clippers, and ...

Living in Tooth Ville
Tooth Ville is a very enjoyable place; I would consider living in Tooth Ville if I was you. Tooth Ville is
an island that is a shape of a tooth, hence the name Tooth Ville . Tooth Ville has two site factors; Tooth
Ville has 3 natural harbours where food is shipped in from other countries or cities, also many people
come to Tooth Ville by water. Also since there is a lot of food being sent in from the other countries
and cities Tooth Ville has some natural resources, also Tooth Ville is surrounded by water we have a
lot of fresh water. All we have to do is filter it and we have our fresh water. As for Tooth Ville s
situation factor, Tooth Ville has markets that are usually full since they are really close to residential
areas. And we have a lot of roads and highways that connect everything, Tooth Ville even has 2
bridges that connect to the mini islands around Tooth Ville.
You could say that Tooth Ville is kind of like a suburban area; Tooth Ville has a lot of natural
resources so we are not like rural areas. We also don t have that much apartment building like they do
in urban areas, Tooth Ville isn t really busy that much maybe only twice in a week. Tooth Ville has
different kinds of houses; we have detached houses near the north west of Tooth Ville, there are
apartment buildings near the east of Tooth Ville, and some townhouses near the north of Tooth Ville
surrounding a park. Tooth Ville has one main highway that connects to the roads which connects to

The Accidental Billionaires By Ben Mezrich
Facebook was created in 2004 on the Harvard University Campus by one of its own students: Mark
Zuckerberg. First restricted to students of Harvard s University, it is then opened to other American
universities before becoming accessible to all by September 2006. Since June 2015, 1.49 billion of
people are registered on this website. This social network is now part of everyday life for nearly one
fifth of the world population, it has redefined how we connect and communicate in the 21st century. It
is therefore normal that a movie was devoted to its creation and expansion. David Fincher, based on
the book by Ben Mezrich, The Accidental Billionaires , directed the movie.

Returning into his room Mark sees his friend, Eduardo Saverin and tells him the idea of a project
called The Facebook , a social network site exclusively for Harvard students. He says it could boost
the popularity of Facemash. When the site is launched, the Winklevoss twins and their partner and
friend Narendra, are convinced Zuckerberg stole their idea. They want to sue Mark in justice.
The story, a fiction but based on a true story, is made of flashbacks, and in parallel shows the
development of Facebook and the two trials that oppose Mark Zuckerberg, firstly to the Winklevoss
twins, and secondly to Eduardo. This film emphasizes the creation of this start up that is Facebook,
with its successes and failures. We are going to discuss the beginning of Facebook as an innovative
start up, the role of Mark s different partners: Eduardo Saverin and Sean Parker in the development of
the website, and the depositions and testimony over the ownership and business dealing with various
lawsuits of Facebook from the Winklevoss twins.
A start up is a young company with high growth potential and which requires mostly a fundraiser.
That is what Facebook and the film is about, a brilliant idea, made possible by Mark Zuckerberg and a
fundraiser of $1,000. At the beginning Mark created Facemash to get over his break up with his
girlfriend, but it proved to be a smart concept. Shortly after

The Outsiders In The Outsiders By S. E Hinton
The book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, Ponyboy forms a different identity throughout the book. At
the beginning of the book, Ponyboy s identity is an outsider to the greasers and to his community. He
does different things, like watch movies without being disturbing, he s good in school and he likes to
read books. Out of the gang Ponyboy didn t have friends. His gang doesn t read books or watch
movies like he does. The greasers just work hard and long on cars at gas stations. Ponyboy has
potential though, he is smart. Ponyboy s identity is different then the the others in his gang. On page 2,
it says, When I see a movie with someone it s kind of uncomfortable, like having someone read your
book over your shoulder. I m different that way. He felt like he was an outsider to everyone because he
was different. People in his gang had gone to jail and Ponyboy stayed good, different. In the text

Choosing the Right Structure for a New Business
Choosing the Right Structure for a New Business 1. Introduction A new idea for a business is the
setting up of a mobile photographic studio. There are many individuals who want family portraits, or
photos for identification or other reasons, who do not have time to go to a professional photographer.
There are already a number of services where photographers will set up in a shopping centre to take
family portraits of photos of children, or go to schools and take children s photographs to sell to
parents. The new idea takes this a stage further, allowing a family to invite a photographer into there
home for a set period of time, for a set price which will include a specific number of photographs. The
idea of the convenience, as well as high quality of service, will create differentiation, with the aim of
gaining business by recommendation. The business will be set up ion an areas where there are is a
large population of middle and upper class families, and where a similar service is not easily
identifiable. In order to set up the business it is necessary to consider the practical implications
associated with the different business structures which may be used to establish the firm. 2. Forms of
Business Organization When setting up a business, the idea is only a part of the process. It is also
necessary to consider the way in which the business itself will be set up in order to function. There are
three basic structure which may be used; sole proprietor, partnership

The Politics Of Refugee Relief
The Civil War in Syria has raged on for over six years now, and over half of the population has fled or
died in the war torn country. A constant rain of bombings, bullets and fires that burn down their
communities plague the cities of Syria. It is due to this that the large number of fleeing refugees from
the Middle East is continuing to grow. This is directly affecting the conditions of the refugee camps
that are willing to house the majority of refugees. Therefore, the effect is growing more unacceptable.
It does seem that the camps are able to support these numbers, and some of the asylum seekers are
choosing to go elsewhere. The places that many are finding refuge are several host communities
within the surrounding territories. Here this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chaos still runs rampant in the towns, rather than being safe havens for those who are seeking shelter.
The presence of war is still undeniable, and the presence of gangs is slowly rising within the camps. In
a camp in Za atari Jordan, the leaders of gangs are on the rise. In the article The Politics of Refugee
Relief. Dissent, the author addresses the issue directly by reviewing them as powerful individuals and
organized gangs [that] have imposed their will on sections of the camp, diverting assistance and
engaging in criminal activities. (para. 3) . These leaders were once people of importance in their
hometowns back in Syria. Therefore the residents of the camps easily let them take on power within
their section of the camp. According to Clarke, the gang leaders took part in activities such as
run[nning] illegal businesses or smuggling operations (as in Lebanon, Syrians cannot legally work in
Jordan), and some deliberately diverted aid and goods to their own constituents in the camp. (para. 4) .
Why is it that, in a place that is meant to be refuge for patrons of war, they are still facing the violent
actions of gang leaders and illegal activity? The answer is simple and written clearly in the desert
sand: these people are trying so desperately to find solitude again, but are being denied the most basic
principles of a stable life. The camps are established with good intentions but lack the quality and
provisions needed to support the refugees. Such is that follows any other fallen government or
territory, anarchy swept over the nation. However, in this case, the anarchists are once respected men

Causes Of Strokes
Each year more than 795,000 Americans have a stroke. Strokes are the fifth leading cause of death for
Americans but the risk of having a stroke varies with race and ethnicity. African Americans are more
likely to die because the risk of having a first stroke is nearly twice as high for African Americans.
Hispanics risk for a stroke is between whites and blacks. Age also has an impact on strokes as well. A
risk of a stroke increases with age, strokes can and will occur at any age. But what causes people to
have strokes? What exactly causes a stroke? A stroke occurs when blood supply to the brain is
reduced. This deprives the brain of oxygen and the nutrients, which causes brain cells to die. It can
also be caused by a blocked artery or the leaking of a blood vessel. Mayoclinic.org says that about
85% of strokes are ischemic strokes. They also said that ischemic strokes occur when the arteries to
the brain become narrowed, causing severely reduced blood flow. ... Show more content on

The Drug Of Prescription Drugs
As the NFL grows in infamy from their many concussion scandals, the misusing of prescription drugs
is overshadowed, but still remains as a major issue in the NFL. A huge problem facing the NFL today
is the ill advised use of painkillers as it affects former players and current players alike. If nothing is
done to stop this dilemma, players will continue to be affected by the accoutrements of painkillers.
Only through DEA investigations, increased restrictions on prescription drugs, and increased
monitoring of player s mental health, will we end the epidemic of the misuse of painkillers in the
NFL. Background of the Problem As NFL players continue their careers, they become household

With injuries plaguing the NFL, team doctors are able to use drugs such as prescription painkillers to
allow players to play through pain. NFL team doctors are able to to receive and distribute illegal
painkillers with ease. In a Vice Sports article about the suppliers of the NFL s painkiller addiction,
Aaron Gordon states, SportPharm,...from at least June of 2009 to June of 2010, illegally provided
prescription drugs to 81 team doctors across American college and professional sports (Gordon, 2014,
para. 2). Many NFL team doctors claim that they did not know about the illegal drugs and that they
only use these companies for their systems of business. Gordon expresses that in a U T San Diego
report written by Michael Lipman, NFL teams are not only using SportPharm, an unlicensed
California Pharmacy, for their convenient tracking system, but for the buying of massive quantities of
painkillers. These painkillers end up in the hands of the players who have the potential of misusing
them from their intended use which can destroy their lives. One cause of professional football player s
painkiller addictions is that Doctors feel pushed to have the players continue playing. Some doctors
believe that if they do not load up their players with heavy drugs to be able to play, they will be let go

How Race And Stereotype Can Affect Justice Being Served
. This play takes place in 1963, the year in which the Civil Rights movement was being fought for.
The main topic of this play is to understand how race and stereotype can affect justice being served,
and the only way around this would be to view facts and override race and stereotype with evidence.
The play beings in New York City in a jury room, there are 12 jurors and each of them seem very
flustered, not only because its hot and the fan won t work, but because the trial seems to almost be a
waste of time for these twelve people. We learn the case they are dealing with is between a son and his
father; the son supposedly stabbed and killed his father. The father and the son live near the slums
which is where colored people live. Almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this juror is puzzled at first he ends up growing confident in his vote and finds many facts to
back him up. In one incident he asks juror number two and juror number four who have glasses if they
sleep with their glasses on. They giggle and reply with no they do not sleep with their glasses on. Well
he uses this because the lady who witnessed the murder wore glasses, and in order for her to have
clearly been able to see the murder she would have to have her glasses on while she was in bed; since
that is when she witnessed the murder. Little by little the other jurors change their vote from guilty to
not guilty. And in the end justice is served and the boy is found not guilty. Juror number eight played
by Cameron Needham is key to this story because he is the one who is the only one with a vote not
guilty at first, and without him the boy would be found guilty. Juror number eight is very hesitant at
first when raising his hand to vote not guilty he raises it fairly slow as if scared of what the others
might think. As the play continues he is constantly on his feet and has his hands in his pockets most of
the time. This gesture of his hands in his pockets seems as if he is trying to protect himself from the
other jurors. Also, juror number eight being on his feet seems to show that he is nervous because he is
never in the same place for a long period of time. When the other jurors ask him questions or state

Peter Pan Neverland Analysis
Sassy fairies, infinite childhood, and ticking crocodiles. For many, Peter Pan s Neverland may be
associated with innocuous connotations, an innocent and whimsical world wherein the harsh and
offensive realities of society are unable to penetrate. However, upon closer examination of J.M. Barrie
s Peter and Wendy (1911), the notion of innocent childhood fantasy is revealed as a façade, a
confirmation that even Neverland and all of its whimsy is not safe from the ideologies which influence
racial oppression and demeaning stereotypes. In analyzing the existence of the racial hierarchy within
this fantasy world, it is necessary to perform a close reading of passages concerning the Piccaninny
Indian tribe which expose the degrading representations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In considering the overarching interpretation regarding depictions of race throughout the novella, this
specific excerpt is salient in both its characterization of the tribe and the racial commentary that can be
derived as a result. Despite the previous passage s depiction of the Piccaninny through diction that
signifies subordination, they are comparatively described here in a violent and masculine manner that
suggests a form of power. In this then, one must revisit the previously posed inquiry: is the narrator
reproducing the degrading racial hierarchy that labels the other as inferior, or are they persuading the
reader to question it? Phraseology such as diabolical cunning to describe their plans not only
contradicts the notion that they are a rudimentary people, it also encourages a questioning of the
connotations of savagery as it is used throughout the work (174). However, this is not to argue that the
passage is any less problematic in its presentation. While certain aspects of the word choice may
indicate power, the redskins are still described in a manner that strips them of their humanity. The use
of phlegmatic as an adjective to portray the manner in which they should deal pale death suggests that
they are inhumane and emotionless creatures (174). Furthermore, the narrator states that they dream of

Dumbest Generation Thesis
Synthesis Essay The younger generation of Americans, those under the age of thirty, are often
criticized as being the dumbest generation . Many Americans blame technology for making goods so
plentiful, schooling so accessible, diversion so easy, and liberties so copious (Bauerlein). Many are
posing the question: Is the increasing ease in life causing our intelligence to slip? Those under thirty
are not the dumbest generation, in fact, technology is expanding, changing, and pushing in new
directions intelligence and mental capacity. Technology has allowed young Americans to transform
the way they think and learn. According to a 2008 study by Mizuko Ito, the internet has allowed the
flourishing of self directed learning. The enormous possibilities the internet offers, allows people to
delve into topics or research a variety of areas that interest them. People can now explore their
curiosity endlessly. Researches have also noticed a change in literacy among the younger generation.

Americans are able to think critically and logically, analyze an argument, to learn and remember, to

The Creator and How Baseball Was Created

With this new ball the home runs per game averaged up to 0.20 home runs a game. By 1925 the home
runs averaged up to 0.48 home runs per game. The ball was heavier, bigger in size, but the seams were
smooth so pitchers had less control of the ball. This ball was called the rabbit ball because of the
australian wool. In 1920 pitchers were restricted from spitballs and now had intentional walks. The
spitball was when you put saliva or vaseline on the ball which caused the ball to spin in a weird way.
If you get caught with a spitball you either get suspended for the game or from the whole league. In

Modern Techniques Of Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf started writing Mrs. Dalloway in June 1922 and she completed the novel by October
1924. With the publication of Mrs Dalloway in 1925, Woolf offered one of her greatest novels to the
literary world. Mrs Dalloway is known to be her one of the most experimental novels as she
experimented with the form of the novel. In this chapter there would be an endeavour to analyse how
Mrs Woolf has used modern techniques while writing this novel. The novel is created from her two
short stories, Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street and the unfinished The Prime Minister . Mrs Dalloway is
about a single day a Wednesday in mid June 1923 in life of Clarissa Dalloway, the social hostess. Mrs
Dalloway is the same who made a brief appearance in The Voyage Out. There she was exquisite and
bright and excessively interested and now at fifty two, in Mrs Dalloway, a little wiser and more

Meanwhile, the second storyline begins with Septimus Warren Smith, a shell shocked war veteran, out

Garza, Harriet Mandela, And Harriet Tubman And The Heroes...
Heroes of Justice Have you ever seen someone s freedom taken from them? Have you ever seen
discrimination right in front of your eyes? Well, Alicia Garza, Nelson Mandela, and Harriet Tubman
all experienced these issues first hand and decided to enact change. Alicia Garza started the Black
Lives Matter movement to help abolish racial inequality, Harriet Tubman brought hope to other slaves
as she started the underground railroad and helped slaves escape, and Nelson Mandela fought against
apartheid and for freedom. All three of these individuals helped to enact change by supporting
movements that would help eliminate racial inequality, while also supporting freedom. To start,

(Mandela 1). Nelson Mandela had a different method than most, as he used his platform to create
change and give freedom and rights to his people. The text also says, It is from these comrades in the
struggle that I learned the meaning of courage... I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but
the triumph over it. I felt fear myself more times than I can remember, but I hid it behind a mask of
boldness (Mandela 4). One great characteristic of Mandela is that he had the ability to never show fear
or doubt, no matter the circumstances, he always proved to be a leader and thus the reason he was able
to accomplish so much. Finally, the text says, I never lost hope that this great transformation would
occur. Not only because of the great heroes I have already cited, but because of the courage of the
ordinary men and women of my country (Mandela 5). Mandela fought through the toughest of
situations and even went to prison for 27 years, just for his people, and continued to fight for them and
their rights. These individuals all had hopes and dreams for their people, and they put everything they
had into making sure that they was accomplished. Last but not least, Alicia Garza helped to enact
change by starting

The Tragedy And Joy Of Writing
The Tragedy and Joy of Writing We must all go through the experience of writing. Writing
experiences are harmful and tragic, while others offer a sense of joy and pride. Some writing
experiences are viewed as a formulated acquired skill and others as a beautiful and eloquent form of
art. The process of our perception into what we write and convey is confounding because each person
perceives it differently that the next. Writing for me is often a tedious and strenuous task, but I have
found a way to verbally express my emotions, but I have discovered more about myself from what I
have written. I hope that the experiences that I share stimulates my peer s imaginations and senses, so
that they may glimpse into my perception to my personal writing excerpts, which have been both
tragic and joyful. One of my most fond experiences of writing was during the year of 2007. In a matter
of minutes I had composed a small poem. I pondered for days to submit it online for publication. I was
nervous and excited at the same time. You know that feeling. It s the one where you are afraid of the
rejection when the rush of adrenaline comes through that tends to make you so nauseous that your
heart races, you become intensely overcome with perspiration, and a small lump forms in the back of
your throat. Finally, I overcame the feeling of sickness, gave into my heart, and submitted what I
thought would become another disappointment. Less

A Rugged, Precise and Accurate New Gravimetry Method for...
Gravimetry is an old technique which has been used for the determination and recovery of gold ever
since its discovery. It is a process that has a minimal room for instrumental error and does not require
standards for any calculation of the unknown that is being analyzed. The determination of gold
besides gravimetry can either be titrimetry or instrumental, but these techniques requires gold
standards for comparison of its results and concerns the determination of gold in small scale or trace
amounts like that of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The demand for gold is rapidly icreasing
world wide and as of today, the standard test for its determination is Fire Assay ASTM E 1335 08 a
method that requires expertise, time, and can lead to a decrease in the sample s amount. In this study,
Gold a rare metal known for its worth, value, and properties such as conductivity, malleability, and
high reflective power was determime by proposing a new gravimetric method through gold s
reduction by hydroxylamine hydrochloride as an alternative to the standard test method called the fire
assay. The researchers based all their calculations using an ISO standard guideline,
EURACHEM/GUM. Gold samples with five replicates of approximately 0.2g was carried out by acid
digestion using a solution containing 15mL of 35% Hydrochloric acid and 5mL of 69% of nitric acid
in the presence of 10mL de ionized 18.2M Ω resistivity water of analytical grade per sample. Samples

The Management Programs Of A Computer
Introduction
Operating systems, ( OS ) are the management programs of a computer. First it is booted into the
computer by a boot program, and then it manages all other programs on the computer. These other
programs are called applications, and they utilize an operating system by making requests for process
service power through an API, or application program interface. Users then interact directly with an
operating system through a graphical user interface or command language.
History The earliest computers lacked any form of operating system because they were simple
mainframes. The machines were primitive and programs were often entered into the system one bit at
a time, through many mechanical switches and plug boards. There were no operating systems during
the first phase of computer history from 1940 1955. By the 1950s, punch cards were introduced and
made it so switches were not as necessary any more. The IBM 701, from General Motors Research
Laboratories, was the first system that implemented an operating system. The systems generally ran
one job at a time, which was indicated by whatever was on the punch card. This is called single stream
batch processing. Computers were just exotic experimental equipment, and mainly tested theory. The
use plugboards would direct the computer. Without operating systems, there is no overlap between
computation, I/O, think time, and response time. The specific goal was to handle tables of numbers.

Essay On Working Environment And Health
Business Writing
Kimberly Little
September 3, 2017
Work Environment and Health
One of the most important aspects of any company is the working conditions and environment
comfort of the workers. Workers whose environmental is not designed to suit the kind of task they
perform tend to develop health conditions that may affect their lives. Data entry using the keyboard in
a computer is one of the tasks which require a well established and a comfortable environment. Failure
to provide this may result in several ill health conditions. One of such condition is carpal tunnel
syndrome. This discussion will, therefore, focus on the factors those results to such conditions and the
possible ways to make a working environment for individuals ... Show more content on

There is also a need for an individual to ensure that a person takes a regular break to give a hand
opportunity to relax and release from the constant straining. The positioning of the computer,
especially the mouse, should be in a flat and comfortable place that ensures a soft and a swift
movement that reduces any chances of strains by the hand. This will also help individuals to work for
a long time without feeling any pain in hand. Based on the research on the repeated stress injury, the
company needs to improve the working environment for the data entry operations. In this case, there is
a need to develop the kinds of furniture in the office to ensure that they suit the task performance in
that environment. The furniture should make sure that the monitor is well positions to enable the
operator to sit upright. The mouse should also be placed in a position that allows the person to relax
his hands while typing and while handling the mouse. These improvements are aimed at increasing
productivity of workers without affecting their health in the office. In conclusion, the increasing rate
of poor health conditions in the rooms due to improper office environment setup is a problem that
might result in low productivity among the workers. It is therefore important to ensure that the
management provides good furniture that prevents too much straining by their employees.

Green Day And The American Idiot
Green Day and the American Idiot The relationship between music and society is an exceptionally
powerful and crucial one. In some cases, this relationship is viewed as one that is harmonious and
beneficial to large communities of people. However, that exact relationship could also be scrutinized
as one that is extremely discordant to other communities. Green Day happens to fall precisely in the
middle of that musical spectrum, depending on who is asked. Regardless of opinion, songs are much
more than just music and are essentially retained as pieces of history. These songs help showcase the
trends, behaviors, and even struggles of different time periods. With that being said, one may ask
What all did the musical group Green Day contribute to society? . Green Day is a pop punk/alternative
rock band formed in 1986. The band consists of three members: Billie Joe Armstrong (lead singer),
Mike Dirnt (bass and backing vocals), and Tré Cool (drums and percussion). The band known as
Green Day originally formed in Berkeley, California by Armstrong and Dirnt, and was initially titled
Sweet Children. The two were only fourteen years old at the time they founded their band. The early
group s musical style was influenced greatly by bands like The Ramones and The Sex Pistols. In 1988,
Lookout! Records owner, Larry Livermore, signed a deal with the group to be part of his label. Shortly
after being signed, the band s name was changed to Green Day as a result of Armstrong s and Dirnt s

The English Patient By Michael Ondaatje
In times of war everyone has suffered some sort of loss. It creates great unhappiness and gloominess
in the people affected. The only way to overcome these dark times is through great love and embrace
from the people around you, the people who care for you. Hana, a nurse in one of the most gruesome
eras of our existence, has seen and been through it all. While at the villa she tries and make everyone s
stay, as pleasurable and positive as possible. Hana takes great care of the English patient and listens to
all his stories. She falls helplessly in love with Kirpal Singh; she is a light in his dark times. Hana also
gives a new found hope to Caravaggio after he lost his thumbs, his only tool. In the novel The English
Patient by Michael Ondaatje, Hana s character brings out the best in the people around her through
caring relationships.
The English patient is bed ridden and cannot do anything for himself. He needs morphine to survive
and without Hana he would have been dead a long time ago. She cares deeply for the English patient
and takes care of him from morning till night. One of the few things that bring Almásy joy in these
dark times are story s being read to him and him telling stories to others. Hana makes sure that she
listens and reads to him, because this will make his day less miserable, she is brining out the best in
him. She feeds him and cares for him like if it was her own sick father. It is like a father daughter
relationship. Hana lost her father to the

Yasuni Itt This article is a copy of the one published in New Society Magazine No.237, January February 2012, ISSN 0251 3552, www.nuso.org A major transition for a great transformation Reflections from the Yasuní ITT Initiative René Ramírez Gallegos1 When discussing the development of a political project from the Left there are two opposing positions or aspects: those which promote the idea of better managing and regulating capitalism that is, striving for good capitalism and those who hold anticapitalist positions. The author of this article argues that a Left that does not give up on the generation of alternatives to capitalism but at the same time is responsible for governing, should think about a great transition without losing sight ... This analysis has been developed at length in other writings4 and is also embodied in the National Plan for Good Living, 2009 20135. In this occasion, it is more pertinent to posit a philosophical political analysis of one of the flagship initiatives that Ecuador has presented to the world and that is a symbolic example of the dispute of the logic of capitalist development : the Yasuní ITT6 Initiative. This project consists of keeping the oil underground (not drilling for it) in one of the most mega diverse areas of the world, located in the Ecuadorian Amazon. In that sense it is a concrete example of the ways a society of good living can be built. The framework for this analysis is a discussion taking place globally among a certain branch of Leftist thought that believes that what is most progressive and achievable nowadays is to devise and construct improvements in the administration of capitalism in other words, to promote its good 7 side and another stance, which presents anti capitalism from a purely theoretical perspective, regardless of the political viability of their proposals. Before delving into the debate on the Yasuní ITT Initiative, in the first part of this article I would like to place the proposal to keep the oil underground in context, so ... It basically helps to guides nurses as they care for the sick to concentrate on the quality of life their patients lived as they go through that difficult time. Parse s theory of human becoming consisted of three structures, which are, meaning, rhythmicity, and transcendence. Parse s theory of human becoming described meaning as the experiences and reality that one lived (Nursing theory, 2011). On the other hand, Parse s theory of human becoming described rhythmicity as Human Becoming is co creating rhythmical patterns of relating in mutual process with the universe (Nursing theory, 2011). People s differences are what make them all perfect in their way; likewise, things that may be considered weaknesses and flaws are also inherently our own and thus part of what makes them who they are. As Thomas L. Friedman (2005) states, World is flat! , which means world is being shrunk by the spreading of globalisation. Globalisation, a result of social development, can be described as the increase in cross broader trade and influence on the economic and social behaviour of nation states (David Begg, 2003:272). This process has affected the world widely and deeply, principally in economics, industrial, technological, political and cultural aspects. Over the past decade, as the liberalization of national and openness of global markets, globalisation has benefitted the world significantly, such as income improved, increase of imports and exports, industrial development, thus, free flow of trade, capital and information have produced the best outcome for growth and human welfare. Therefore, it is little doubt that globalisation has positive impact on developed and developing countries. Also looking at how it effected Russia in general After the Crimean war Russia had suffered a devastating defeat, Alexander II decided that there had to be change in his country in order to make Russia successful again. Alexander II was also known as the Liberator , this was mainly due towards his reform on emancipation towards the serfs. 40 million serfs were freed in 1861. The reason for this reform is questionable but Alexander II was probably trying to prevent the lower classes from having a revolution. He loved his family very much and had to assure his family and himself even though many saw him as incompetent as a tsar. Alexander III in the end decided to reverse everything his father Alexander III brought to Russia. Alexander II was probably not the most liberal man to ever live however he did bring some hope which had never been present before he ruled. • 8. Justification Of Hester Prynne The Puritans Are Justifiable In D.H. Lawrence s writing The Scarlet Letter by, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Lawrence shares his beliefs that Hester Prynne is fully guilty in the Puritan society for committing the sin of adultery. Lawrence believes that all women have the ultimate goal of seducing men. He feels very strongly that Hester s character should not have any heroic praise, and he finds ways of justifying the way the Puritans beliefs. Lawrence uses methods of brief repetition, direct syntax, and complacent tone to convey that Hester Prynne is guilty. D.H. Lawrence uses brief repetition to represent that Hester is guilty of sin. Lawrence finds ways of writing repetition in the attempt to get his point across without hesitation when he states, Adulteress, Alpha, Abel, Adam, America (Lawrence). He is able to fully convey that Hester is sinful with negatively connotated words that are organized in a repetitive way. Relating Hester to Abel represents his dislike towards her as well as shows her sin because it represents how low he views her. Abel was not an innocent character, to say the least. Lawrence uses this comparison in a way that flips their roles in a sense, and it draws a huge impact. Lawrence finds ways of camouflaging the ways he uses repetition as well, Worship her there. • 10. History of the Viola s Role in Part-Writing for Chamber Music Carolyn Hunter Music 700 November 1, 2009 Mini Research Paper #2 History of the Viola s Role in Part Writing for Chamber Music There is considerable debate amongst scholars as to whether the birth of the viola preceded or succeeded that of the violin. However, iconographic and documentary evidence indicate that the violin, viola, and cello most likely evolved together as a family of instruments very early in the sixteenth century and almost certainly in northern Italy. Part writing for the viola in chamber music has changed dramatically over time. By the end of the seventeenth century, while the violin had remained popular in chamber music, the viola was very much neglected. It was not until the end of the eighteenth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The end of the eighteenth century marked a change in the treatment of the viola in chamber music. The change came about partly because a basic concept of late eighteenth century chamber music was that a single player played each part (thus setting chamber music apart from the orchestra where each string part . . . was played by several players). [2] A greater equality of part writing can be observed in the mature chamber music, especially string quartets, of Mozart and Beethoven. In Mozart s last string quartet (K. 590, 1790), the part writing is equalized, and solos are given to the viola, with a considerable degree of virtuosity demanded of the instrument. In the passage below, the first violin states the melody and then two bars later the viola plays the same passage just an octave lower. Example 1. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, String Quartet no. 23, k. 590, 1st Movement, mm. 51 54[3] [pic] This example clearly demonstrates equal part writing for the viola with that of the violin or the other instruments. In conclusion, it is difficult to answer the question as to why the viola fell out of favor in chamber music from the time period following its birth in the early sixteenth century to the end of the seventeenth century. One possible reason is that no parts of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Porter: Strategy is the creation of a unique and valuable position, involving a different set of activities. The essence of strategic positioning is to choose activities that are different from rivals . (M. E. While well built core competencies and competitive capabilities are key support in performing strategy, they are just as significant for securing a competitive edge over competitors in position where it is quite easy for rivals to copy smart strategies. Thomson et al (2004) states that: Any time rivals can readily duplicate successful strategy features, making it difficult or impossible to out strategize rivals and beat them in the marketplace with a superior strategy, the chief way to achieve lasting competitive advantage is to out execute them. (Thomson et al, 2004:254) Moreover, it is very hard to create a strategy which nobody could copy and that the strategy would last long term. Usually, the core competence or capability emerges incrementally. As Johnson et al (2005) illustrates in The Risk of Strategic Drift. This is understood as step by step changes. During this time, an absolute monarchy ruled France while the English had what Voltaire saw as a limited monarch with an involved democracy. France was ruled using bribery, force, and corruption while England was governed though compromise and negotiations. Voltaire himself believed in political moderation and defense of civil liberties. He also observed the differences in economics between the two countries. Free trade was discouraged in France, to the point that some noblemen lost their rank if they participated in such commerce. Contrasting this, Voltaire saw that the English encouraged trade and tradesmen were even held in high regards. He believed that this difference in economics was what gave England access to their freedoms. Furthermore, Voltaire had a great respect for England s stance on the sciences and philosophy. Universal associations, for example, the UN and provincial security, for example, NATO, the OAS, and the OAU would assume a part in offering authenticity on the operations and in sorting out an aggregate reaction. There are many individuals who want family portraits, or photos for identification or other reasons, who do not have time to go to a professional photographer. There are already a number of services where photographers will set up in a shopping centre to take family portraits of photos of children, or go to schools and take children s photographs to sell to parents. The new idea takes this a stage further, allowing a family to invite a photographer into there home for a set period of time, for a set price which will include a specific number of photographs. The idea of the convenience, as well as high quality of service, will create differentiation, with the aim of gaining business by recommendation. The business will be set up ion an areas where there are is a large population of middle and upper class families, and where a similar service is not easily identifiable. In order to set up the business it is necessary to consider the practical implications associated with the different business structures which may be used to establish the firm. 2. In the article The Politics of Refugee Relief. Dissent, the author addresses the issue directly by reviewing them as powerful individuals and organized gangs [that] have imposed their will on sections of the camp, diverting assistance and engaging in criminal activities. (para. 3) . These leaders were once people of importance in their hometowns back in Syria. Therefore the residents of the camps easily let them take on power within their section of the camp. In considering the overarching interpretation regarding depictions of race throughout the novella, this specific excerpt is salient in both its characterization of the tribe and the racial commentary that can be derived as a result. Despite the previous passage s depiction of the Piccaninny through diction that signifies subordination, they are comparatively described here in a violent and masculine manner that suggests a form of power. In this then, one must revisit the previously posed inquiry: is the narrator reproducing the degrading racial hierarchy that labels the other as inferior, or are they persuading the reader to question it? Phraseology such as diabolical cunning to describe their plans not only contradicts the notion that they are a rudimentary people, it also encourages a questioning of the connotations of savagery as it is used throughout the work (174). However, this is not to argue that the passage is any less problematic in its presentation. Nelson Mandela had a different method than most, as he used his platform to create change and give freedom and rights to his people. The text also says, It is from these comrades in the struggle that I learned the meaning of courage... I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. I felt fear myself more times than I can remember, but I hid it behind a mask of boldness (Mandela 4). One great characteristic of Mandela is that he had the ability to never show fear or doubt, no matter the circumstances, he always proved to be a leader and thus the reason he was able to accomplish so much. • 42. The Tragedy And Joy Of Writing The Tragedy and Joy of Writing We must all go through the experience of writing. Writing experiences are harmful and tragic, while others offer a sense of joy and pride. Some writing experiences are viewed as a formulated acquired skill and others as a beautiful and eloquent form of art. The process of our perception into what we write and convey is confounding because each person perceives it differently that the next. Writing for me is often a tedious and strenuous task, but I have found a way to verbally express my emotions, but I have discovered more about myself from what I have written. I hope that the experiences that I share stimulates my peer s imaginations and senses, so that they may glimpse into my perception to my personal writing excerpts, which have been both tragic and joyful. One of my most fond experiences of writing was during the year of 2007. In a matter of minutes I had composed a small poem. I pondered for days to submit it online for publication. I was nervous and excited at the same time. You know that feeling. It s the one where you are afraid of the rejection when the rush of adrenaline comes through that tends to make you so nauseous that your heart races, you become intensely overcome with perspiration, and a small lump forms in the back of your throat. Finally, I overcame the feeling of sickness, gave into my heart, and submitted what I thought would become another disappointment. Less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. A Rugged, Precise and Accurate New Gravimetry Method for... Gravimetry is an old technique which has been used for the determination and recovery of gold ever since its discovery. It is a process that has a minimal room for instrumental error and does not require standards for any calculation of the unknown that is being analyzed. The determination of gold besides gravimetry can either be titrimetry or instrumental, but these techniques requires gold standards for comparison of its results and concerns the determination of gold in small scale or trace amounts like that of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The demand for gold is rapidly icreasing world wide and as of today, the standard test for its determination is Fire Assay ASTM E 1335 08 a method that requires expertise, time, and can lead to a decrease in the sample s amount. In this study, Gold a rare metal known for its worth, value, and properties such as conductivity, malleability, and high reflective power was determime by proposing a new gravimetric method through gold s reduction by hydroxylamine hydrochloride as an alternative to the standard test method called the fire assay. The researchers based all their calculations using an ISO standard guideline, EURACHEM/GUM. Gold samples with five replicates of approximately 0.2g was carried out by acid digestion using a solution containing 15mL of 35% Hydrochloric acid and 5mL of 69% of nitric acid in the presence of 10mL de ionized 18.2M Ω resistivity water of analytical grade per sample. • 44. The Management Programs Of A Computer Introduction Operating systems, ( OS ) are the management programs of a computer. First it is booted into the computer by a boot program, and then it manages all other programs on the computer. These other programs are called applications, and they utilize an operating system by making requests for process service power through an API, or application program interface. Users then interact directly with an operating system through a graphical user interface or command language. History The earliest computers lacked any form of operating system because they were simple mainframes. The machines were primitive and programs were often entered into the system one bit at a time, through many mechanical switches and plug boards. There were no operating systems during the first phase of computer history from 1940 1955. By the 1950s, punch cards were introduced and made it so switches were not as necessary any more. The IBM 701, from General Motors Research Laboratories, was the first system that implemented an operating system. The systems generally ran one job at a time, which was indicated by whatever was on the punch card. This is called single stream batch processing. Computers were just exotic experimental equipment, and mainly tested theory. The use plugboards would direct the computer. Without operating systems, there is no overlap between computation, I/O, think time, and response time. The specific goal was to handle tables of numbers. Libraries ...
