Dietary Supplements
I have always thought that by taking vitamin supplements that it would benefit your health. Why
wouldn t I think that? That s what the commercials say. The vitamin industry seems to be a very
profitable business to be in, you don t have to exercise or eat right, all you need is a vitamin and you
will be in great health. The vitamin companies do not tell you that they could potentially be a major
health risk. Chapter 7 of my textbook has enlightened me on the benefits and the possible health risks
of taking vitamins without first consulting your healthcare provider. I read an article online, Dietary
Supplements: What You Need to Know, and it states that Dietary Supplements can be beneficial to
your health but taking supplements can

Violin History
The Violin Throughout the development of western art music many different instruments have come
to frequently be used (Dougan, 440). One such instrument is the violin (Dougan, 440). The violin is
one of the most versatile instruments used in western music today (Dougan, 441). Its unique sound
help to inspire the development of the orchestra and can often evoke powerful feelings in any listener
(Cao et al. 662). These are just a few of the reasons the violin has played a significant role in the
development of Western Art Music ( The Violin Site: Resources for Violinist 2). The first topic of
discussion will be the history of the violin and how it was developed ( Lancaster Symphony Orchestra
1). Then one will learn how the unique sound and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Niccolo Paganini is considered to be the father of virtuoso in the 19th century (Shipps, 38). He was
one of the greatest violinist of history and went on far reaching concert tours for many years (Shipps,
38). Paganini was also was the composer of 24 Caprices (Shipps, 38). The more adventurous style of
his works were not as conservative as some other composers may have liked, but were popular with
the public (Shipps, 38).
This new modern style of violin music was carried on by Giovanni Battista Viotti (Shipps, 38). He is
considered the father of modern violin playing (Shipps, 38). Viotti founded the French school of violin
where he along with Tourte, invented the modern bow (Shipps, 40). His own Concerto No. 23 was a
favorite of many great violinist throughout history (Shipps, 40). Viotti s students changed the technical
world of playing for all violinist from that day on (Shipps, 40).
Another violinist whose technical alterations changed playing for all violinists in the future was Louis
Spohr (Shipps, 40). He was known as a violinist, conductor, teacher, and composer (Shipps, 40). He is
most remembered for his invention of the chinrest (Shipps, 40). His style of playing was very old
fashioned and conservative (Shipps, 40). Sphor also wrote Violinschule which became a well know
tool to assist with teaching the early classical style (Shipps,

The Education System in Saudi Arabi
The education system in Saudi Arabia
Education in Saudi Arabia is segregated by sex and divided into three separately administered
systems: general education for boys, education for girls and traditional Islamic education (for boys).
The Ministry of Education, established in 1952, presides over general education for boys, and
education for girls comes under the jurisdiction of the General Presidency for Girls Education. Both
sexes follow the same curriculum and take the same annual examinations.
Islamic education trains Saudi boys to become members of the Ulema (religious clergy). The religious
secondary school curriculum includes the general academic secondary school curriculum but focuses
primarily on Islamic and Arabic studies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As previously noted, universities in Saudi Arabia offer two types of education: traditional Islamic and
Western oriented. The Islamic University of Medinah and Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic
University focus on Islamic law, Quranic studies, Arabic language and social sciences.
UNIVERSITY HIGHER EDUCATION:
Programs and Degrees
Stage I: The baccaloreus degree generally takes four years, except in pharmacy and medicine, which
require four years plus clinical training, and engineering and veterinary medicine, both of which
require five years. Medicine studies last eight years, and the qualification conferred is the doctor of
medicine.
Stage II: In most universities, the darajat al majisteer (master s degree) is awarded after two years of
additional study beyond the first degree. However, King Saud University offers a one year
postgraduate program at this level leading to the general diploma in education. The master s degree is
awarded in economics, business and public administration, accountancy, engineering, arts and
humanities, marine sciences, science, earth sciences, meteorology, environment and arid land
agricultural science. Islamic law, Arabic and social sciences require three years of study. A thesis is
required for all programs offered at this level.
Stage III: The doctorate, known as the doctoorah, takes a minimum of three years following the master
s degree. Candidates must submit a

Student Retention Is A Growing Problem
Many colleges and universities throughout the United States and several other countries face a
common problem. Student retention is a growing problem across the nation for all ethnic groups and
all ages. Each individual who chooses to drop out of school has their own personal reasons as to why
they do. However, many drops out can be completely avoided. When students drop out they are not
clearly thinking about how it s going to affect their future, the future of their children and even
grandchildren. Although there are several reasons as to why students drop out of school, we will be
exploring a few as it relates to why student retention is a growing problem.
Transitioning into higher education presents challenges for all students, whether it s their age or
previous educational history. Numerous individuals are extremely nervous as they are entering into an
advanced environment such as higher education. This because college is a new learning environment
at a completely different level. However, freshmen find college to be difficult at first because it s
harder for them to adjust. That s why many universities should have student centers in place to help
students. Student centers give students the pathway for flexible learning as it results in being
successful in higher education (Baužienė Vosyliūtė 2015).
Lin and Tsai (2008) used a quantitative approach to understanding student retention; however, they
used their research to understand students loyalty. As fast as

Luban s Critique Of Walzer Conception Of Legitimacy
In this paper, I will argue that Luban s critique of Walzer conception of legitimacy is misguided. I will
first present Walzer s argument for interventions using the legalist paradigm, in particular his
conception of self determination and how the principle of non intervention may be set aside in
exceptional circumstances. I will then present Luban s critique of Walzer and his argument for
developing an account of Just War directly in terms of human rights, before concluding with my own
critique of Luban s argument.
To begin, it will be useful to outline the legalist paradigm, as Walzer conceives it. This paradigm refers
to six propositions:
There exists an international society of independent states
2. This international society has a law that establishes the rights of its members above all, the rights of
territorial integrity and political sovereignty.
3. Any use of force or imminent threat of force by one state against the political sovereignty or
territorial integrity of another constitutes aggression and is a criminal act.
4. Aggression justifies two kinds of violent response: a war of self defense by the victim and a war of
law enforcement by the victim and any other member of international society.
5. Nothing but aggression can justify war.
6. Once the aggressor state has been militarily repulsed, it can also be punished.
What all these propositions seek to uphold is the sovereignty of states and their ability to self
determine their own futures. Aggression is

Maintain Homeostasis
Homeostasis is the process of maintaining and regulating the body s own internal condition and is
extremely critical for proper body function; without it we could die. To maintain homeostasis, our
body has created a system of positive and negative feedback loops that are controlled in the brain
(specifically the hypothalamus in most mammals). This occurs when the product or output of
something, like ion concentration, blood calcium or glucose levels, change in response to the body
telling itself there s too little or too much of it. A positive feedback loop will increase the output, or
product, as a result of an amplified reaction to make it happen faster. A negative feedback loop, on the
other hand, is the reduction of a product to lower it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done to regulate the onset of hypertrophic chondrocytes. First, the process starts off when the
cranial neural cells proliferate and condense to make nodules in response to bone morphogenic protein
(BMP) signals from the head epidermis. High levels of BMPs will make cartilage from the nodules.
Low levels of BMP will produce pre osteoblast progenitor cells that express the Runx2 transcription
factor and mRNA for collagens 2 and 4. These cells will eventually downregulate Runx2 and begin
expressing the osteopontin gene making it look like a cartilage cell, hence the name chondrocyte like
osteoblast. IHH and PTHrP will start receiving negative feedback signals telling them to stop
chondrocyte differentiation. PTHrP, which is secreted from perichondrial cells and chondrocytes at the
end of long bones, acts on receptors of the chondrocyte to keep them proliferating and delay the
production of IHH. IHH is in charge of coordinating endochondral bone growth. IHH will induce
patch and Gli proteins to then initiate synthesis of PTHrP, which will block the recruitment of more
chondrocytes and reducing bone

Picasso Vs Goya
Pablo Picasso and Francisco José de Goya were two artists that lived in completely different time
periods and painted in very different styles. Goya painted frescos and court paintings while picasso
dabbled in cubism and surrealism. However, like most artists, they both went through many changes
and transitions throughout their lives as painters, and their desire to think outside the box and
experiment with techniques that had never been used before reveal similarities in their work that may
go unnoticed at first glance. When looking at the works of Goya and Picasso, one would be much
more likely to point out differences than similarities. Goya did a lot of frescos and court paintings.
These works differ greatly from most of Picasso s paintings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only were they both considered modern artists, their work also took a rather unexpected turn
towards the end of their careers. Goya is considered the father of modern art. He took risks in his
paintings and decided not to paint in the classical style of the old masters from earlier centuries, and
Picasso also took many risks and painted in a very modern style. Picasso was even inspired by Goya s
work, and his painting, Massacre in Korea, was inspired by Goya s The Third of May. Not only did
they both experiment in their paintings, these artists also both went through a rough period in their
lives that had a big effect in their style of painting. Picasso s blue period reflected his sadness after his
friend s death, and all of his paintings during this time used blue and other muted colors. Goya s black
paintings, a series of fourteen pieces from his last years of life, also reflected a negative change in his
life. These paintings were much darker and more depressing than his older paintings. The disturbing
images in these paintings are thought to have been evoked from his fear of insanity and bleak outlook

The Funerary Model Of A Pig Sty
Mingqi
For this first paper assignment I have chosen to write my essay on The Funerary Model of a Pig Sty.
This artwork takes place in Ancient China around c. 2nd century BCE. It was designed and used
within the Han Dynasty early in China s history. These clay models like the pig sty and other burial
goods had a hand in furthering the development of Chinas cultural heritage and beliefs. Within this
paper I will be discussing my chosen MIA artwork, works that are similar but different to this artwork,
and also how all three works, although all different, have the same purpose for what they have been
made for. Then finally touching on how the context of the piece can change based on its surroundings.
When one looks at the Funerary model of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(MIA) The roofs are separated into four sections on both rooftops. On the square latrine roofs there are
four triangles. While on the rectangular latrine there are two triangles and two trapezoids for the
rooftops shape. I find that this adds to the depth of the roof giving this piece great detail. One can see
this not just in the structure, but also in the details of the animals found in the pigsty model. For
starters when looking around there are seven animals total. They are a boar or male pig, a dog, a sow
who is feeding her three young piglets, and finally a bird. (MIA) In this particular model each animal
is found doing something known for what that animal does in real life. For example the boar is outside
the pen eating slop by himself out of a bowl. While the dog is above the boar on the walkway lazily
sleeping his day away in what could be the hot sun. As one moves along within the piece and looks
inside the pen one can see a sow that is really doing the most work in this model for she is feeding her
three young piglets right in the middle of the pen. This is okay because her and the piglets are the only
four in the pen causing a feeling of calm to the person looking at the work. Finally we move our eyes
up and see a nest with a bird in it. This bird seems to be stretching his wings or cleaning them minding
its own business. All these individual details make up one

1. What is BI and how can it help Canadian Tire? In the case there are 10 common challenges of BI
implementations, which of these would you rate as most important for Eubanks and Wnek at CTC,
and why? How would you address them? Business Intelligence (BI) is the consolidation and analysis

BI initiatives is a data warehouse to hold the data and analytics software. The data warehouse stores

Information from IW, which has passed through the ETL process before it goes to the end users. 2.)
Information from independent data sources, which is processed by different standards. This is counter
to the strategic goal of eliminating duplication of analysis, reporting and ad hoc analysis. This
environment consumes more time for business users to understand end user data, and more money for
the firm which is wasted on different and possibly conflicting results.

Joyce Meyer Reflection
I thought carefully of someone I wanted to write about. I decided on a woman who had a great part in
helping me through many tough times and helping me find my way to a God of my understanding.
Her name is Joyce Meyer and she is a Christian author and speaker from St. Louis, Missouri. She is
married, has four children, and is President of Joyce Meyer Ministries. I found her book in a store one
day and from there on I became more and more interested in what she had to say. At the time I first
found her book, I had just stopped drinking and entered a twelve step program. Coming to terms with
a God of your own understanding is a big part of the twelve steps. I found her talks on a video channel

Using personal stories almost ensures the audience s interest. Everyone likes to hear a good story
(p.269). Throughout her speeches, Joyce speaks of struggles she had gone through and those same
struggles are common to so many Christians, either many had faced them or were going through them
at that very moment she was describing them on stage.
Her ability to show that she is an equal by putting Biblical language into every day, common language
makes many people feel a bit more sense of belonging (P.69). Her demeanor and attitude is one of
friendliness and smiles. There is a sense of ease and comfort as if one were listening to a friend talk.
Her ability to not speak from a spiritual mountaintop unites people who know nothing about the Bible
to listen and comprehend as well as the person who has gone to Sunday school their entire lives. It
includes more people, but it also makes her feel more genuine as a listener.
Joyce describes her own feelings rather than evaluating others (P68). When she discusses a problem or
hardship, she takes ownership of an issue by using I statements frequently rather than accusatory you
statements. This avoids a defensive reaction from the audience. As our text states, no one likes to be
judged or evaluated. This approach leads to greater openness and trust because the listener is less
likely to feel rejected or as if the speaker is trying to control him or her (P.68)
Joyce also uses we statements when discussing topics

Snyder s 300 Hyperbole
Film is a source of entertainment for thousands of people, however it can also be seen as modern
poetry. Two examples of poetry in film is Snyder s 300 (2006) and Weir s Gallipoli (1981),
Both films have a theme of War one that glorifies it and the other denounces it. Despite the films being
different in genre and mood, both films have strong poetic devices such as hyperbole, symbolism and
repetition.
During Snyder s 300 many forms of hyperbole were used to portray the Glory of War which is the
main theme for the film. An example of hyperbole, which is noticeable throughout the entire film, is
the enhanced colouring to make the figures and scenes appear like a graphic novel. This is because the
original story line was based on Frank Millar s 300 graphic novel series. The end half of the movie
used exaggerated features more often, from the beast like features on Persia s fighters to Leonidas war
cry nearing the end of the final battle. The directors have used this poetic device to create a stronger
sense of emotion for the film.
Weir s Gallipoli had less hyperbole than Snyder s 300, however still used many of the basic aspects to
make the film a form of poetry. When hyperbole was used in the film is was usually before the main
character Archie started running where he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Macromolecules In Biology
When someone thinks about life , he or she may think of humans, animals, plants, or anything that
may breathe. From a biological perspective, life is not only made from breathing. Life is created from
many different levels that when all comes to end, makes the biosphere. From smallest to largest, the
Hierarchy of Structural Organization will be explained. Atoms are the smallest particle that is still
considered an element. Atoms are composed of subatomic particles, which include electrons, protons,
and neutrons. At the chemical level, atoms are combined together which make molecules. The human
body contains four macromolecules which are molecules that contain a high number of atoms. The
macromolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The cellular level contains cells,
which can be eukaryotic or prokaryotic. The cells make up what we call tissues. A tissue is a collection
of cells ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, epithelial tissue works together to cover and protect internal and external body
structures. All tissues come together to create our organs such as our brain and heart. Our organs are

muscular system, cardiovascular system, reproductive system, and the digestive system. All of the
things previously listed come together and make an organism! An organism could be a plant, or a
human. We all work together to maintain life. Organisms make up what is called a population.
Populations make up communities, which is when all species occupy the same area. An ecosystem is
made up of communities that interact with each other. There are two processes that the ecosystem
depends on which are the cycling of nutrients and the flow of energy (or sunlight). Lastly, ecosystems
create the big picture that is the biosphere. The biosphere is all of earth s atmosphere, water, and crust.

Tuesdays With Morrie
Tuesdays with Morrie , by Mitch Albom, is a nonfiction retelling of a student s meetings with his
former mentor. Mitch, now a corporate lapdog, revisits one of his old college professors after he hears
that he has contracted ALS, a terminal disease with no known cure. Mitch and his old professor,
Morrie, discuss Morrie s life every tuesday, and these talks continuously make Mitch a better person
than who he was. Throughout this book many different themes are touched upon. One of these such
theme is the theme, and also Morrie s saying, Love or Perish . Throughout the book Morrie regularly
hammers in the point that to live without love, is to not live at all. Morrie is able to explain to Mitch
that the essence of love is the reason which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even in Morrie s dying state, the slightest brush of skin to skin contact with Mitch is enough to make
Morrie happy. Morrie relays that without his wife, without his nurses, and most importantly without
Mitch, he would not have been able to last as long as he did with his ALS. Another theme throughout
the book is that Morrie teaches Mitch to live life his own way. Morrie is disgusted by america s lust
for greed, fakeness, and violence, and teaches to establish your own way of thinking. While the O.J.
Simpson case was going on, Morrie completely shut himself off from the case, and instead focused on
his family and friends. Morrie built his life on the foundation of love and forgiving, two things that are
shunned in America, in Morrie s eyes. Morrie teaches Mitch that creating his own values and beliefs
leads to a much more enjoyable life than accepting mainstream America. One more theme evident in
Tuesdays with Morrie is the theme that life is full of choices. Morrie says early on in the book that he
had two choices when he got sick, feel sorry for himself or do something to try and help the world.

The War Of 1812 By Andrew Jackson
The War of 1812, perhaps like most wars, may appear to be without merit, ironic and perverse. It
began in response to Britain s policy of impressment, employed to prevent France, its enemy in the
Napoleonic Wars, from obtaining supplies from America, and ended with the reallocation of British
troops to North America after the defeat of Napoleon. The War contained so much irony to the extent
that a truce was declared, but not communicated to the troops in America, before the largest battle of
the war took place at New Orleans. A war that curbed American expansion also included a general,
Andrew Jackson, who parlayed his fame as a general the War of 1812 to the Presidency and who
would become an expansionist President responsible for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Far from the shores of England, and to a large extent independent from the mother country, Canada
remained reliant upon Britain, at least for its military expertise. Although Britain was largely
preoccupied with the Napoleonic Wars in Europe, its military support of Canada, especially in the
later phases of the war, proved to be decisive in the defeat of the Americans. Perhaps this is only
appropriate given that Britain s policy of impressment of American vessels and sailors was a principal
cause of the War of 1812(Black, 185). To be fair though, American expansionist sentiment, embodied
in the cries of the War Hawks leading up to the War of 1812, and that later manifested itself in the
form of Manifest Destiny contained in the Monroe Doctrine, was also a cause of the war. Also
contributing to the start of the War was the growing expansionist sentiment in the United States that
was based on the idea of American superiority over Canada(185). This sense of superiority was rooted
not only in the ideology of the American revolution, that republicanism and democracy were superior
to monarchy and despotism, but also in the comparative advantage in population, manpower, financial
and industrial strength enjoyed by America (Creighton,108). To the Americans, Upper Canada was an
appealing and exceedingly vulnerable province by virtue of its geography, small population and
perhaps even more so because of the composition of that population that included many recent

Belonging
Belonging is the relationship between an individual and his society, idealistically of one being in
harmony with their surrounding peers and therefore becoming accepted no matter what attributes they
possess. Belonging is an intrinsic need, it is a complex and variable state and in the end brings some
form of happiness to an individual. The film, Strictly Ballroom , produced by Baz Luhrman, focuses
upon the individual Scott who possesses the skills to win but defies the rules of the ballroom world by
adding unauthorised steps and by challenging the status quo. Similarly, The short story, A Straight Bat
, by Roger Holt, revolves around the individual Timothy whose individuality is suppressed by his
fathers expectations. The song, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As his father introduces to Timothy a cricket bat, Timothy s father sets the barriers of belonging
towards Timothy, who is attempting to develop his own identity. Timothy s disapproval and rejection
of the bat is highlighted in the short, sharp sentences and the negative connotations of the words stared
, hard and heavy in the quote, Timothy stared hard at the cricket bat. It looked heavy . The negative
description of the bat illustrates his objection towards the interest and values in which his father
expects him to abide by. This reinforces the negativity that a sense of individuality can be removed
and affected by the expectations of belonging imposed by those around us.
The negative conformist nature to conform is represented through the use of the bat , symbolising the
need to conform in order to feel accepted. The metaphor quoted within George s quote, Everyone must
have his own bat , emphasises that each person must follow their own path in order to develop their
own identity. We realise that complying by the expectations of society is the first step to acquiring
acceptance. The destroying of the violin, represents Timothy s individuality and the ability to grow, is
halted and depleted as the expectations of his father to play cricket, is of more priority to his son s
desire. Roger Holt s use of this, just like Strictly Ballroom , reinforces the effect of the negativity of
the forcefulness to conform by the

Doctrine of Foreign Policy Constructed by U.S. Presidents
There were many presidents of the United States that were able to construct doctrines during their
presidency terms in office that defined their individual foreign policy goals and/or aims. Just to name
a few there was the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, Truman Doctrine 1947 and the Reagan Doctrine of
1984. For example, the Monroe Doctrine was constructed for two main reasons: 1) John Adams,
Secretary of State, suggested the principle that the Western hemisphere was not an option for any
further colonization by the European powers and 2) the U.S. would defend the freedom of other
nations. The Monroe Doctrine proved its power in the 1900 s when President Roosevelt enforced the
doctrine during the Venezuela Border Dispute as well as securing the independence of Cuba from the
abusive Spanish rule.
During his Presidency, The Ronald Reagan Doctrine was a foreign policy in the United States from
1980 to 1991. The doctrine was to help eliminate communist governments such as Latin America,
Africa and Asia which were supported by the Soviet Union (Lagon, 1994). The plan was to implement
support to private and open guerilla and resistance movements that were supported by the Soviet in
communist countries. Containment was the official policy towards communism and in creating the
Reagan Doctrine, the focus started from keeping communism from spreading then it shifted to
eliminating existing communist governments. In addition to the eliminations of the communist
governments, the United

Six Sigma is named after the process that has six standard deviations on each side of the specification
window. It is a disciplined, data driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects. The central
idea behind Six Sigma is that if you can measure how many defects you have in a process, you can
systematically figure out how to eliminate them and get as close to zero defects as possible.
Six Sigma starts with the application of statistical methods for translating information from customers
into specifications for products or services being developed or produced.
Six Sigma is the business strategy and a philosophy of one working smarter not harder.
One sigma gives a precision of 68.27%., two sigma, of 95.45% and three sigma of
99.73%, whereas Six Sigma gives a precision of 99.9997%.Although 99.73% sounds very good, it
slowly dawned on companies that there is a tremendous difference between
99.73% and 99.9997%. For ex. For every million articles of mail, the difference is between 66,738
lost items and 3.4 lost items (Exhibit 1).
5
To achieve Six Sigma Quality, a process must produce no more that 3.4 defects per million
opportunities. An opportunity is defined as a chance for nonconformance, or not meeting the required
specifications. This means one needs to be nearly flawless in executing key processes. The process
and culture is conditioned for zero defects

A Research Plan On Mass Transit And Efforts
This strategic plan is centered on mass transit and efforts to reduce emissions in order to then reduce
asthma across the population. The outline for the paper will be in the form of the eight steps from Our
Iceberg is Melting for the purpose of identifying and planning a successful execution of steps needed
to take for a positive outcome.
Set the Stage
Step 1: Create a Sense of Urgency According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
transportation related pollutants are one of the largest contributors to unhealthy air quality, (CDC, n.d.)
which can lead to the worsening of asthma symptoms, among other negative health impacts. In the
United States, emissions from cars and other motor vehicles account for more than 50 percent of air
pollution in urban areas and the design of communities and transportation systems impact how often
automobiles are used, how many automobile trips are taken, and how long those trips are (CDC, n.d.).
In order to reduce these emissions, it is critical to consider increasing the usage of mass transit as well
as other transportation alternatives and create a healthier atmosphere for everyone. In addition to the
positive health impacts, reducing transportation caused pollutants would improve air quality that
would have other positive environmental consequences. However, immediate action by the public,
transportation experts and policy advisers, health professionals and other key actors is necessary
immediately.

Abercrombie And Fitch Case Analysis
Introduction
According to Keyton, organizational culture is the set of artifacts, values, and assumptions that
emerges from the interactions of organizational members (Keyton, 2014, p. 550). Over the past few
years, past and potential employees of the clothing brand Abercrombie Fitch (A F) have taken to the
media to explain the negative organizational culture that exists within the company. The management
values and company policies that create this image obsessed culture have led to multiple human rights
lawsuits, which has damaged the reputation of Abercrombie Fitch globally (Benson, 2013).

Jefferies was successful in his pursuit and as a result, his exclusionary sentiment permeated the
workplace culture of the organization at every level; from the sprawling 300 acre headquarters in the
woods of Ohio to each individual retail outlet. At the heart of this culture was the Looks Policy , an
unforgiving guide to how employees should present themselves at work. This policy governed every
aspect of an employee s appearance from the number of times they rolled the cuffs of their jeans to the
tone of their skin, which was preferably sun kissed . Not only did this policy contribute to a negative
work environment where employees felt they were constantly being evaluated on the basis of their
physical attributes alone, but it also led to human rights violations wherein job applicants were denied
employment on the basis of their race and/or religion. In a 2004 class action lawsuit filed against the
retail giant, several thousands of former A F employees alleged the company discriminated against
African Americans, Latinos, and Asian Americans in its hiring practices as well as its advertisements.
The claimants also purported that non white employees were frequently relegated to the back of store
tasks where they would not be visible to store patrons. A F settled the lawsuit out of

Iran Provides No Freedom of Speech on the Internet Essay
Introduction:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The first amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America can often be taken for
granted. In many third world countries, the idea of freedom of speech is in the back of people s minds,
but almost never brought to the forefront of issues facing the country and government. In recent years,

However, the rumble of revolution has been felt for many years in Iran. Until recently, this has never
been a big problem for the government to stomp out because of its vast control over speech. It could
easily shut down the printing of reformist newspapers and throw the journalists in jail. Now, the
Internet has taken that little rumble and is quickly turning it into an earthquake. The control the
government had over other outlets can t translate to the Internet because of its vastness and
anonymous nature. The Internet is opening a door to let out the true feelings of the Iranian people, and
the process cannot be reversed.
Background:
The spread of the Internet in Iran started almost the same as it did in the United States. Like in the
1960s and 1970s when only the Unites States Depart of Defense and certain academic institutions had
these nodes in place, Iran only had certain nodes in academia when they first used the Internet in
19931. It definitely didn t stop there.
Although Internet access in Iran is only at about 3%, it is showing one of the fastest rates of growth in
the world. It is estimated that the number of users in on the Internet will have soared from 1.2 million
in 2003 to 15 million in 20061. With such a rapid expansion of this online medium will come an
increased opposition to the authoritative government. Already the struggle for democracy can be seen
in Iran. Reformist web sites and publications are up

Netflix Yunshi Case
I agree with Yunshi s stance on streaming services offering a attractive package that differentiates
themselves from the competition of alternatives such as cable or dish network. Today people have
several avenues to take in gaining access to their daily entertainment. Services have become more
catered to the variety of consumer taste; thus, the old model of packaging ESPN with less supported
programs such as ESPN 3 or 2 are developing into packaging your unique production programs. I can

Movie studios have gone to great lengths in stopping pirated movies or channels that distribute their
movies without consent from the producers. Fair use is another tricky subject and many people are
content with snippets of a popular series or are fine with watching an entire visual novel or listening to
an book audio instead of purchasing the novel from a store or website. Thus, best cost has become
more nuanced and allowed for more tricky approaches to attracting customers with free material that
is bundled with priced add on or free material that is kept afloat with volunteer payments or optional
payed bonus extras. For example, a studio may create a movie and have the ticket be valid for
watching in a theater but also later viewing at home. It dissuades customers from illegally purchasing
the movie due to the cost strategy being convenient and flexible to consumer taste. The strategies are
different yet today are being utilized and evolving with the pressures of new competition along with
customer perception. Knowing how to appeal to a customer s perception of pricing while offering a

Couples In China
As a worldwide community, is it not our duty to ensure that every human is entitled to the basic
human right of life?
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, envisaged and signed by 193 countries, accepts that
every citizen in every country is entitled to every human right in the declaration. It is a matter of
principle that such rights should be enforced with all the power invested in the government and in the
justice system. We all deserve equal rights; yet in many countries, they are often flouted.
On the 10th December 1948, following the Second World War, the Universal Declaration was
implemented to ensure that such a horrendous conflict would never occur again. This was embraced
by the International Community and it was determined that every individual should have equal rights.

The Avoidance Of Eating Cattle
Have you ever craved a nice juicy piece of steak, but had to settle for the dry asparagus? This is what
Hindu people who follow their cultural traditions have to deal with. The food practice that I am
discussing is the avoidance of eating cattle in Hinduism. I will specifically focus on moral issues
regarding killing and eating cattle in the religion as compared to other moral religious codes. In
Western society most cultures don t see a moral issue when eating beef. I know my family eats beef at
least twice a week so I was always surrounded by the meat product. The reason I chose to write about
why Hindus don t eat cattle is because my roommate is Hindu and follows this cultural practice. I

Despite popular belief cattle are not worshipped in Hinduism, but rather held in high esteem. There are
a couple different historic reasons why Hindus don t eat cow. The first being that during the
development of the religion cattle were extremely expensive to slaughter as they produced a lot of
other food and work and were more valuable left alive. It was financially impractical for early Hindus
to eat cattle. Additionally, cattle were seen as the appropriate gift for Brahmins who were the high
priests of Hinduism at the time. It eventually came to be seen that killing some cattle was almost
equivalent to insulting a Brahmin in their culture, meaning that there was a strong taboo against
Lastly, the development and subsequent spread of Jainism in the region, which expressively forbids
harming any type of animal, may have influenced early Hindus not to eat cattle. Many rural Hindu
families own a dairy cow which greatly assists them in their way of life. Due to the value of life
placed on cattle in Hinduism there is a moral concern regarding killing the animal. One that is not
commonly held in Western religions in our lives today. The cow is one of the greatest symbols for
selfless giving by providing us milk, curds, ghee butter, urine, and dong and these are all used in
Hindu worship also. The fact that products that the cow produces are so important not only to the
Hindu way of life, but also to

Modern Day Reasoning For Tattoos
In a recent Fox News poll, an astounding one in five voters in America admitted to having at least one
tattoo (Blanton, 2014). Body art has become increasingly popular over the past several years among a
wide range of individuals. With so much attention on tattoos, it is a wonder how and when tattooing
began. However, no one really knows for certain when tattooing began, or how it began for that
matter. The belief is that tattooing began at least by 3300 BCE. That is how far back anthropologists
have dated an iceman named Otzi, who was discovered in the Alps between Austria and Italy in 1991
(Nagle, 2009). Though anthropologists have an idea of when tattooing began, there is no evidence as
to how the first tattoo was created.
Reasons for Tattoos
Reasons for getting a tattoo vary greatly. In some cultures tattoos were used as a way to mark bravery
or a way to mark slaves. Other cultures used tattoos to signify wealth or status. Modern day reasoning
for tattoos has changed greatly. Tattoos and Body Piercing lists several reasons people get tattoos,
including enhancing beauty, identifying oneself, commemorating others, rebellious acts, and body
makeovers. Individuals may use tattoos as an art form to express their personality or beliefs. Also,
tattoos often carry a specific message or association. For instance, a person may get a tattoo as a way
of remembering a loved one. Tattoos may even be a sign of risky or defiant behavior. Young teenagers,
for example, may get a tattoo

Abstract The discovery of free fetal DNA circulating in maternal blood during pregnancy
revolutionized noninvasive prenatal diagnosis. Advancements in prenatal diagnosis in the past decade

The vitamin industry seems to be a very profitable business to be in, you don t have to exercise or eat right, all you need is a vitamin and you will be in great health. The vitamin companies do not tell you that they could potentially be a major health risk. Chapter 7 of my textbook has enlightened me on the benefits and the possible health risks of taking vitamins without first consulting your healthcare provider. I read an article online, Dietary Supplements: What You Need to Know, and it states that Dietary Supplements can be beneficial to your health but taking supplements can ... • 3. Violin History The Violin Throughout the development of western art music many different instruments have come to frequently be used (Dougan, 440). One such instrument is the violin (Dougan, 440). The violin is one of the most versatile instruments used in western music today (Dougan, 441). Its unique sound help to inspire the development of the orchestra and can often evoke powerful feelings in any listener (Cao et al. 662). These are just a few of the reasons the violin has played a significant role in the development of Western Art Music ( The Violin Site: Resources for Violinist 2). The first topic of discussion will be the history of the violin and how it was developed ( Lancaster Symphony Orchestra 1). Then one will learn how the unique sound and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Niccolo Paganini is considered to be the father of virtuoso in the 19th century (Shipps, 38). He was one of the greatest violinist of history and went on far reaching concert tours for many years (Shipps, 38). Paganini was also was the composer of 24 Caprices (Shipps, 38). The more adventurous style of his works were not as conservative as some other composers may have liked, but were popular with the public (Shipps, 38). This new modern style of violin music was carried on by Giovanni Battista Viotti (Shipps, 38). He is considered the father of modern violin playing (Shipps, 38). Viotti founded the French school of violin where he along with Tourte, invented the modern bow (Shipps, 40). His own Concerto No. 23 was a favorite of many great violinist throughout history (Shipps, 40). Viotti s students changed the technical world of playing for all violinist from that day on (Shipps, 40). Another violinist whose technical alterations changed playing for all violinists in the future was Louis Spohr (Shipps, 40). He was known as a violinist, conductor, teacher, and composer (Shipps, 40). He is most remembered for his invention of the chinrest (Shipps, 40). His style of playing was very old fashioned and conservative (Shipps, 40). Sphor also wrote Violinschule which became a well know tool to assist with teaching the early classical style (Shipps, ... • 4. The Education System in Saudi Arabi The education system in Saudi Arabia Education in Saudi Arabia is segregated by sex and divided into three separately administered systems: general education for boys, education for girls and traditional Islamic education (for boys). The Ministry of Education, established in 1952, presides over general education for boys, and education for girls comes under the jurisdiction of the General Presidency for Girls Education. Both sexes follow the same curriculum and take the same annual examinations. Islamic education trains Saudi boys to become members of the Ulema (religious clergy). The religious secondary school curriculum includes the general academic secondary school curriculum but focuses primarily on Islamic and Arabic studies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Student Retention Is A Growing Problem Many colleges and universities throughout the United States and several other countries face a common problem. Student retention is a growing problem across the nation for all ethnic groups and all ages. Each individual who chooses to drop out of school has their own personal reasons as to why they do. However, many drops out can be completely avoided. When students drop out they are not clearly thinking about how it s going to affect their future, the future of their children and even grandchildren. Although there are several reasons as to why students drop out of school, we will be exploring a few as it relates to why student retention is a growing problem. Transitioning into higher education presents challenges for all students, whether it s their age or previous educational history. Numerous individuals are extremely nervous as they are entering into an advanced environment such as higher education. This because college is a new learning environment at a completely different level. However, freshmen find college to be difficult at first because it s harder for them to adjust. That s why many universities should have student centers in place to help students. Student centers give students the pathway for flexible learning as it results in being successful in higher education (Baužienė Vosyliūtė 2015). Lin and Tsai (2008) used a quantitative approach to understanding student retention; however, they used their research to understand students loyalty. As fast as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Luban s Critique Of Walzer Conception Of Legitimacy In this paper, I will argue that Luban s critique of Walzer conception of legitimacy is misguided. I will first present Walzer s argument for interventions using the legalist paradigm, in particular his conception of self determination and how the principle of non intervention may be set aside in exceptional circumstances. I will then present Luban s critique of Walzer and his argument for developing an account of Just War directly in terms of human rights, before concluding with my own critique of Luban s argument. To begin, it will be useful to outline the legalist paradigm, as Walzer conceives it. This paradigm refers to six propositions: There exists an international society of independent states 2. This international society has a law that establishes the rights of its members above all, the rights of territorial integrity and political sovereignty. 3. Any use of force or imminent threat of force by one state against the political sovereignty or territorial integrity of another constitutes aggression and is a criminal act. 4. Aggression justifies two kinds of violent response: a war of self defense by the victim and a war of law enforcement by the victim and any other member of international society. 5. Nothing but aggression can justify war. 6. Once the aggressor state has been militarily repulsed, it can also be punished. What all these propositions seek to uphold is the sovereignty of states and their ability to self determine their own futures. Aggression is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Maintain Homeostasis Homeostasis is the process of maintaining and regulating the body s own internal condition and is extremely critical for proper body function; without it we could die. To maintain homeostasis, our body has created a system of positive and negative feedback loops that are controlled in the brain (specifically the hypothalamus in most mammals). This occurs when the product or output of something, like ion concentration, blood calcium or glucose levels, change in response to the body telling itself there s too little or too much of it. A positive feedback loop will increase the output, or product, as a result of an amplified reaction to make it happen faster. A negative feedback loop, on the other hand, is the reduction of a product to lower it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is done to regulate the onset of hypertrophic chondrocytes. First, the process starts off when the cranial neural cells proliferate and condense to make nodules in response to bone morphogenic protein (BMP) signals from the head epidermis. High levels of BMPs will make cartilage from the nodules. Low levels of BMP will produce pre osteoblast progenitor cells that express the Runx2 transcription factor and mRNA for collagens 2 and 4. These cells will eventually downregulate Runx2 and begin expressing the osteopontin gene making it look like a cartilage cell, hence the name chondrocyte like osteoblast. IHH and PTHrP will start receiving negative feedback signals telling them to stop chondrocyte differentiation. PTHrP, which is secreted from perichondrial cells and chondrocytes at the end of long bones, acts on receptors of the chondrocyte to keep them proliferating and delay the production of IHH. IHH is in charge of coordinating endochondral bone growth. IHH will induce patch and Gli proteins to then initiate synthesis of PTHrP, which will block the recruitment of more chondrocytes and reducing bone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Picasso Vs Goya Pablo Picasso and Francisco José de Goya were two artists that lived in completely different time periods and painted in very different styles. Goya painted frescos and court paintings while picasso dabbled in cubism and surrealism. However, like most artists, they both went through many changes and transitions throughout their lives as painters, and their desire to think outside the box and experiment with techniques that had never been used before reveal similarities in their work that may go unnoticed at first glance. When looking at the works of Goya and Picasso, one would be much more likely to point out differences than similarities. Goya did a lot of frescos and court paintings. These works differ greatly from most of Picasso s paintings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only were they both considered modern artists, their work also took a rather unexpected turn towards the end of their careers. Goya is considered the father of modern art. He took risks in his paintings and decided not to paint in the classical style of the old masters from earlier centuries, and Picasso also took many risks and painted in a very modern style. Picasso was even inspired by Goya s work, and his painting, Massacre in Korea, was inspired by Goya s The Third of May. Not only did they both experiment in their paintings, these artists also both went through a rough period in their lives that had a big effect in their style of painting. Picasso s blue period reflected his sadness after his friend s death, and all of his paintings during this time used blue and other muted colors. Goya s black paintings, a series of fourteen pieces from his last years of life, also reflected a negative change in his life. These paintings were much darker and more depressing than his older paintings. The disturbing images in these paintings are thought to have been evoked from his fear of insanity and bleak outlook on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This artwork takes place in Ancient China around c. 2nd century BCE. It was designed and used within the Han Dynasty early in China s history. These clay models like the pig sty and other burial goods had a hand in furthering the development of Chinas cultural heritage and beliefs. Within this paper I will be discussing my chosen MIA artwork, works that are similar but different to this artwork, and also how all three works, although all different, have the same purpose for what they have been made for. One can see this not just in the structure, but also in the details of the animals found in the pigsty model. For starters when looking around there are seven animals total. They are a boar or male pig, a dog, a sow who is feeding her three young piglets, and finally a bird. (MIA) In this particular model each animal is found doing something known for what that animal does in real life. For example the boar is outside the pen eating slop by himself out of a bowl. While the dog is above the boar on the walkway lazily sleeping his day away in what could be the hot sun. As one moves along within the piece and looks inside the pen one can see a sow that is really doing the most work in this model for she is feeding her three young piglets right in the middle of the pen. This is okay because her and the piglets are the only four in the pen causing a feeling of calm to the person looking at the work. Finally we move our eyes up and see a nest with a bird in it. This bird seems to be stretching his wings or cleaning them minding its own business. All these individual details make up one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Information from IW, which has passed through the ETL process before it goes to the end users. 2.) Information from independent data sources, which is processed by different standards. This is counter to the strategic goal of eliminating duplication of analysis, reporting and ad hoc analysis. This environment consumes more time for business users to understand end user data, and more money for the firm which is wasted on different and possibly conflicting results. I decided on a woman who had a great part in helping me through many tough times and helping me find my way to a God of my understanding. Her name is Joyce Meyer and she is a Christian author and speaker from St. Louis, Missouri. She is married, has four children, and is President of Joyce Meyer Ministries. I found her book in a store one day and from there on I became more and more interested in what she had to say. Her ability to show that she is an equal by putting Biblical language into every day, common language makes many people feel a bit more sense of belonging (P.69). Her demeanor and attitude is one of friendliness and smiles. There is a sense of ease and comfort as if one were listening to a friend talk. Her ability to not speak from a spiritual mountaintop unites people who know nothing about the Bible to listen and comprehend as well as the person who has gone to Sunday school their entire lives. It includes more people, but it also makes her feel more genuine as a listener. Joyce describes her own feelings rather than evaluating others (P68). When she discusses a problem or hardship, she takes ownership of an issue by using I statements frequently rather than accusatory you statements. This avoids a defensive reaction from the audience. As our text states, no one likes to be judged or evaluated. Two examples of poetry in film is Snyder s 300 (2006) and Weir s Gallipoli (1981), Both films have a theme of War one that glorifies it and the other denounces it. Despite the films being different in genre and mood, both films have strong poetic devices such as hyperbole, symbolism and repetition. During Snyder s 300 many forms of hyperbole were used to portray the Glory of War which is the main theme for the film. An example of hyperbole, which is noticeable throughout the entire film, is the enhanced colouring to make the figures and scenes appear like a graphic novel. This is because the original story line was based on Frank Millar s 300 graphic novel series. The end half of the movie used exaggerated features more often, from the beast like features on Persia s fighters to Leonidas war cry nearing the end of the final battle. The directors have used this poetic device to create a stronger sense of emotion for the film. It began in response to Britain s policy of impressment, employed to prevent France, its enemy in the Napoleonic Wars, from obtaining supplies from America, and ended with the reallocation of British troops to North America after the defeat of Napoleon. The War contained so much irony to the extent that a truce was declared, but not communicated to the troops in America, before the largest battle of the war took place at New Orleans. A war that curbed American expansion also included a general, Andrew Jackson, who parlayed his fame as a general the War of 1812 to the Presidency and who would become an expansionist President responsible for the ... Far from the shores of England, and to a large extent independent from the mother country, Canada remained reliant upon Britain, at least for its military expertise. Although Britain was largely preoccupied with the Napoleonic Wars in Europe, its military support of Canada, especially in the later phases of the war, proved to be decisive in the defeat of the Americans. Perhaps this is only appropriate given that Britain s policy of impressment of American vessels and sailors was a principal cause of the War of 1812(Black, 185). To be fair though, American expansionist sentiment, embodied in the cries of the War Hawks leading up to the War of 1812, and that later manifested itself in the form of Manifest Destiny contained in the Monroe Doctrine, was also a cause of the war. Also contributing to the start of the War was the growing expansionist sentiment in the United States that was based on the idea of American superiority over Canada(185). This sense of superiority was rooted not only in the ideology of the American revolution, that republicanism and democracy were superior to monarchy and despotism, but also in the comparative advantage in population, manpower, financial and industrial strength enjoyed by America (Creighton,108). To the Americans, Upper Canada was an appealing and exceedingly vulnerable province by virtue of its geography, small population and perhaps even more so because of the composition of that population that included many recent ... Just to name a few there was the Monroe Doctrine of 1823, Truman Doctrine 1947 and the Reagan Doctrine of 1984. For example, the Monroe Doctrine was constructed for two main reasons: 1) John Adams, Secretary of State, suggested the principle that the Western hemisphere was not an option for any further colonization by the European powers and 2) the U.S. would defend the freedom of other nations. The Monroe Doctrine proved its power in the 1900 s when President Roosevelt enforced the doctrine during the Venezuela Border Dispute as well as securing the independence of Cuba from the abusive Spanish rule. It was financially impractical for early Hindus to eat cattle. Additionally, cattle were seen as the appropriate gift for Brahmins who were the high priests of Hinduism at the time. • 35. Modern Day Reasoning For Tattoos In a recent Fox News poll, an astounding one in five voters in America admitted to having at least one tattoo (Blanton, 2014). Body art has become increasingly popular over the past several years among a wide range of individuals. With so much attention on tattoos, it is a wonder how and when tattooing began. However, no one really knows for certain when tattooing began, or how it began for that matter. The belief is that tattooing began at least by 3300 BCE. That is how far back anthropologists have dated an iceman named Otzi, who was discovered in the Alps between Austria and Italy in 1991 (Nagle, 2009). Advancements in prenatal diagnosis in the past decade have enabled clinicians to accurately diagnose genetic abnormalities in the fetus earlier and without risk of miscarriage as is associated with amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Sequencing and analysis of the fetal genome has not only improved prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal aneuploidies, but also subchromosomal aberrations and monogenic disorders. This lends parents earlier and more specific information that may guide their decisions during pregnancy to benefit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Free fetal DNA (ffDNA) along with RNA (ffRNA) have opened the door to a multitude of downstream analytical techniques of the fetal genome and transcriptome. Because ffDNA can be isolated through noninvasive methods all one requires is a sample of maternal blood clinician scientists have focused on improving diagnostic methods with ffDNA.
