The Role of Fate in Macbeth
Fate has sundry meanings. One of the meanings of fate: power that predetermines events. Destiny s
definition suggests that events will occur and do not change. Whatever unravels in life cannot
change by mankind. The statement has undivulged meanings; fate has the opportunity to change if
the person wants events to end differently. However, wrong decisions will only seal fate. In
Shakespeare s Macbeth, The fate becomes confirmed through Lady Macbeth wanting more power,
Macbeth s inner conflict, and the three witches tricking Macbeth and leading him to his demise.
The witches give Macbeth prophecies that come true; but do not always work out right. The
witches are talking about the confusion they will make Fair is foul, and foul is fair.... Show more

Lady Macbeth becomes incensed at her husband Naught s had, all s spent,/ Where our desire is

doubtful joy (III.ii.4 7) that all will turn to nothing if Macbeth starts to feel guilty about killing.
She tries to teach him how to become unemotional and fearless. All of these commands and
actions cause Macbeth to have a war inside of him, leading him to his downfall. Raging inside of
Macbeth appears as a war, he does not know how to handle the conflict. While he thinks his
actions over, Macbeth says That tears shall drown the wind. I have no spur/ To prick the sides of

he starts to think that he should not do the act of killing, but then again, his ambition says to go

The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth
In another matter, this is not the first time that climate change has affected the planet in the past
there were many problems to the earth millions of years ago. There were five major ice ages
from the longest and first scientists believe occurred was two point four to two point one billion
years ago during the early Proterozoic Eon there was an ice ageformed and it was the Huronian.
The second ice age was the cryogenian and it has been known that it produced a snowball earthin
which permanent sea ice extended to or very near the earth s equator; this period occurred from
eight hundred and fifty to six hundred and thirty million years ago. The third ice age that occurred
was the Andean Saharan it occurred during the Paleozoic from fout... Show more content on

Scientists believe the possible causes of the medieval warm period were increase in solar activity,
decrease volcanic activity, and change to ocean circulation. After the medieval ended what
followed was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the
eighteen seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder
winters than during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows
in solar radiation, heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth
s orbit, and axial tilt, inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population
these just the few reasons why the little ice age was formed.
Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans
them selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter
temperatures will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and
other animals. The effects of major heat waves recorded in the past were very excruciating like
the one in Western Europe during the summer of 2003 which hunted the crop yield deeply. Also
in 2003 Italy was affected by a big heat wave where a maze yield feel by 36%. These are major
signs that humans won t have any thing to feed themselves in several years if this damaging global
warming continues.

The Aging Process And Key Diseases Associated With Aging
This paper will discuss the relationship between the aging process and key diseases associated
with aging. Examples of aging associated diseases include cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease,
and neurodegenerative diseases (LГіpez OtГn, Blasco, Partridge, Serrano, Kroemer, 2013, p. 1194).
Of these, we will discuss in depth recent studies that have linked aging with Alzheimer s disease,
cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. These diseases affect a significant proportion of the
population over the age of 65 and place a considerable burden on the American health care system.
Therefore, a better understanding of how they are related to aging and each other can result in the
adoption of innovative treatments and declined risk for older adults. In order to better understand
aging associated diseases, it is first necessary to define what aging is. Aging is a complex,
multifactorial process of harmful mutations in cells and tissues that are accumulated over time and
result in an increased risk of disease and, eventually, death(Tosato, Zamboni, Ferrini, Cesari, 2007,
p. 401). Contrary to the belief that aging can be cured through medical advances, it is scientifically
accepted that, while human life expectancy has increased, the human life span has remained largely
unchanged for the past 100,000 years (Tosato et al., p. 401). Therefore, future developments in
aging research ought to focus on addressing treatment and prevention of major aging associated
diseases that will

Pride And Prejudice Narrative Analysis
Jane Austen was and still is a very accomplished writer from the nineteenth century. The question I
am going to answer asks about Austen s narrative techniques and how they contribute to the
overall meaning of the novel. Pride and Prejudice is written at a time of contemporary historical
change in the world and yet Austen writes a novel where the main man changes his manners and a
young lady changes her mind. (Tanner 103). I am going to focus on her extensive archive of
narrative techniques specifically in chapter one of her novel, Pride and Prejudice, to show these
changes. Throughout the novel Austen uses third person narrative, omniscient narration, a dramatic
narrative using dialogue, letters and dramatizing of the consciousness of the... Show more content

An omniscient narrator is sometimes silent during events but also has the ability to direct us in
what we are thinking. A narrator who sometimes comments can sometimes feel like a character. It is
not right to assume that the narrator in this case is Jane Austen. The main theme does suggest a
female with a keen eye for fashion, it is also noticed that there are always women around when
mentioning men and lots of talk about weddings, of course it is possible that it is a male narrator,
men can enjoy fashion and play a key role in wedding

The first video that I found was a commercial for Sprite s new campaign, You Define Yourself .
For the commercial they hired a model that has vitiligo, Chantelle Winnie Harlow. She first
made her presence in the fashion world being a contestant on Cycle 21 of America s Next Top
Model. Although she did not win the contest, many people and companies loved her and found
her look to be very unique. Since being on ANTM she has modeled for brands such as: Desigual,
Diesel, Swarovski and has been featured in magazines such as: Glamour, Complex, Cosmopolitan
and Vogue Italia. In the commercial she speaks about how her first step in trying to get her career

In the video they show a city that has been deserted. After a while you start to see people, but
they are blending in with the backgrounds of where they are standing or sitting. Some blended
into brick walls, wall paper, buses, billboards, park benches and a variety of other things. One
man pulls a Sprite out of his bag, takes a sip and then realizes that he does not have to blend into
the wall. He proceeds to take of his clothing, which is the same color as the wall and remove the
paint from his face until he is wondering around in his underwear. He wonders around the city
until he runs into this attractive woman and he sees she has realized that same thing because her
clothes are removed and she has a Sprite in her hand. They then smile at each other and that s how
the commercial ended. For this commercial there were both good and bad comments. The positive
comments talked about how cool it was to have a camo theme for bringing out how unique
everyone is and the negative, in my opinion missed the entire message of the video and wrote

A Modest Proposal Analysis Essay
A Modest Proposal
Literary Analysis

Jonathan Swift s Use of Satire and Exaggeration Satire is a form of literature in which an author
tries to demonstrate his or her point of view by ridiculing. The author uses heavy irony and sarcasm
in order to criticize a social issue. A perfect example of a work of satireis Jonathan Swift s A
Modest Proposal. In this satirical essay, Jonathan Swift attacks on the issue of the Irish poverty in
the 1700s. The essay sarcastically suggests that Ireland s social and economic problems would be
quickly solved by putting the children of impoverished Irish families on the food market. Through
heavy exaggeration, Jonathan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example is when he states that a child just born will weigh twelve pounds, and in a solar
year, if tolerably nursed, will increase to twenty eight pounds (804). By giving infants a set of
instructions and guidelines, in analogy to livestock, Swift tries to make it seem as if he has no
emotional attachment to the Irish children. When Swift is describing the use of children as
commodities, it is ironic because his intentions are to actually explain that the English view the
whole Irish population as commodities. The English landlords are the ones responsible for
Ireland s poverty. The essay shows, through sarcasm, that the English have purposely took
everything from the Irish because they view them as commodities. One example of sarcasm used
to portray that idea is that the utilization of infants will be proper for landlords, who, as they have
already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children (804). It is very
apparent that Swift blames the English for Ireland s problems. He also blames the Irish Catholics
that allowed English policy to break down Ireland. The essay illustrates that the greed filled English
have taken away everything from the Irish. This includes their material things such as their money,

Language Learning Strategies Essay
A Study of Learning Strategies in L2 Acquisition
гЂђAbstractгЂ‘With the concept of autonomy being part of the mainstream of research and
practice within the field of language education, the study of learning strategies in L2 acquisition has
drawn much attention. This paper discusses the issues covering the fundamental aspect:
identification and classification of learning strategy. The problems are reviewed concerning the
definition and classification of learning strategies and then the paper tentatively introduces Cohen s
approach to defining learning strategies in terms of prototypicality of features of learning strategies.

Cohen (1998) : Learning strategies are learning processes which are consciously selected by the
learner. The words consciously select are important because they demonstrate the special character
of strategy.
Wenden(1998): Learning strategies are mental steps or operations that learners use to learn a new
language and to regulate their efforts to do so.( as cited in Ellis, 1994, p. 531)
The above definitions show that no researchers define language learning strategies in exactly the
same way. All these definitions provide insights into understanding the process of learning a
language. How to define learning strategies is crucial in underpinning the framework of
researchers study. Definition is fundamental to laying the foundation for the areas of research.
However, these definitions of language learning strategies reveals some problems. Learning
strategies is such a broad word that it can refer to the general approaches or specific techniques
used to learn a language. Maybe it is the main reason why the definitions are atheoretical. There are
other two problems: Are learning strategies to be perceived of as behavioural or mental? Are
learning strategies conscious and intentional or subconscious?

Mental Health Counseling Personal Statement
I have chosen to enter the field of Mental Health Counseling at this particular time in my life
because I would like to learn the skills needed to help people with their life and mental health
issues. While attending the University of Saint Joseph during my undergraduate years I took
various courses that have led me to making my decision. The courses I took focused on business,
biology, social work, and psychology. After graduation I decided to take a year off and gain work
experience in customer service and health care. I wanted to experience working with the people in
my community. I was hired as a pharmacy technician at a Walgreens in Vernon. Working as a
pharmacy technician has been a very rewarding experience for me and I learned a lot about people
and their unique needs. I also learned about patient care and how to be pacient and understanding
under stressful situations.
While working at Walgreens I was able to apply the skills I learned at Saint Joseph and build more

Richard T. Lambert s Argumentative Analysis
Considerable debate remains around how to read Aquinas on cognition. Some scholars, most
recently Richard T. Lambert, argue that Aquinas is predominantly Aristotelian. Other scholars
argue that Aquinas is predominantly Augustinian or following broad Neoplatonic impulses. The
sheer extent of scholarly attention Aquinas has sustained over the centuries makes the material
difficult to wade through and avoiding controversial claims impossible. Therefore, the following
summary is an interpretation one possible reading which I hope you will find convincing for the
sake of the argument. This section proceeds in two parts. First, I provide a general overview of
Aquinas on human knowledge of ordinary things. Second, I describe the possibility for human...

pharmaceutical company. That partnership would enable Purinex to develop one of its leading
compounds into a drug for the treatment of the world s deadliest and most widespread diseases.
Gilad Harpaz, Purinex s chief financial officer believed that if a partnership deal came through,
the company would be in an excellent position to carry out its mission. Moreover, securing a deal
was practically a prerequisite for any eventual initial public offering, which was an attractive exit
strategy for many of the company s investors. Harpaz also believed that the company could either
attempt to secure financing now or wait until it struck a partnership deal. He has three options to

Essay The Life and Artistic Impact of Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso was born in the early 1880s into a family with artistic roots. From this, he was able
to draw much inspiration and opportunities to study in a well reputed art schools, which were
located in Barcelona and Madrid. At the beginning, he did not have a definite direction in relation
to his style; hence, experimented on a lot of techniques and forms. He joined a number of other
young artists, authors and architects that took the direction of contemporary art in their work. The
formative years of his career ended in 1901 (Fandel, Picasso, 2006). He continued depicting issues

In 1899, Pablo dropped his scholarly studies and joined a group of young artists. The group
brought together a number of writers and artists well known as modernistes (Klein, 2010). Their
art assimilated modern trends in art like symbolism. It also evoked the mood and atmosphere
rather than the traditional literal description. With regard to poster design, graphic arts and
illustration, their art followed the art nouveau from French, which was characterized by
artificial colors, twisting contour lines and simplified shapes (Fandel, Picasso, 2006). By the
early 1900, Pablo and his colleagues art had moved further to place emphasis on social causes
and political anarchy. For instance, Pablo s work showed sympathy for the poor in urban areas
like Barcelona and Paris. The artist had traveled to Paris for a number of times in the 1900
before he finally decided to permanently settle four years later (Art in Action, n.d). Most of his
fellow young artists also moved to the same capital where their works were displayed in salons
and galleries. Pablo s personal style was a combination of several techniques and styles that he
had previously drawn influences from. For instance, it introduced bright and pure colors with one
of the major subjects being scenes of nightlife in Paris and an image of Manach Pere, one of the

SOAP
SOAP first came into being in 1998 after being developed by Microsoft, however, it was not until
SOAP version 1.2 was released in June 2003 that SOAP became a World Wide WebConsortium
(W3C) Recommendation. This is also where SOAP ceased to be known as Simple Object Access
Protocol and remains to this day as SOAP.
The main reason for its development was to supersede some of the older communication
technologies that weren t as effective when being used across the internet such as Distributed
Component Object Model (DCOM) and Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA)
SOAP is a communication protocol that utilises Extensible Mark up Language (XML) to define the
messaging framework and send messages from one application to another via other protocols such
as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.
It can be used in conjunction with Web Services Description Language (WSDL). This language
is for the descriptions of web services and how to go about locating and accessing them. As with
SOAP, WSDL is also XML based. WSDL is also a W3C Recommendation.
A SOAP message has four main elements. These elements are an; envelope, header, body, and a
fault element. See Fig 1 for a visual breakdown of the SOAP message structure.

Hope was so tangible that even the foreign community was living in a heightened sense of
anticipation. The hard part for me today is that the memories of those heady early days of hope
are tinged with the reality of the carnage that followed. I will always remember that night in

The Importance Of Tenure In Education
Tenures refers to an approach which gives educators and teachers a lasting contract, viably
guaranteeing them an assurance of work ... forever. Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from
their duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and
still, at the end of the day ending the tenurecan be to a great degree troublesome.
Tenure system picked up in the mid 20th century as a method for shielding teachers from being
terminated for the wrong reasons. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or
individual inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to
guarantee that educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of
administrators.
Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured
educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to
work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more
youthful, less experienced instructors.
100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection
tenure had its place in the teaching system. It shielded helpless instructors from the political
impulses of their administrators and frame the activity of nepotism. Nowadays enactment gives
sensible assurances and tenure is never again required undoubtedly teaching is one of the main

Lean On Me By Norman Twain
Lean On Me (Norman Twain Productions, 1989)
The movie Lean on Me was published in 1989. The movie depicts a time period when drug use
/ abuse, and violence was very prevalent at Eastside High the inner city high schools in Paterson
New Jersey. Eastside HS having these challenges created a societal view of low expectations for the
students that attended the school. The students that attended the high school were predominately
African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups
with low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race,
and social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only
touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine
was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of
families that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and
support systems for youths. Many of the youths in the movie was raising themselves, which
included finding the means to support their and/ or their family s basic everyday needs such as:
food, clothing, and shelter. That alone opened the door to negative influences like drugdealing, drug
use, drug abuse, and violence. Many of the students at Eastside HS were more focus on everyday

Edith Grotberg Theory Of Resilience
The American Psychological Association (APA) defines resilience as the ability to adapt well to
adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or even significant sources of stress (APA 2011). According to
Edith Grotberg, a developmental psychologist, Resilience is important because it is the human
capacity to face, overcome and be strengthened by or even transformed by the adversities of life
(1995). Resilienceis the ability to remain positive in the face of adversity, which is not the same as
not having distress or denying it (Music, 2011). Developing this capacity relies on protective
factors within individuals as well as in the family and community. Research has emphasized the

Accordingly, Dona Beatriz was trained as a nganga marinda, an intermediary between the
spiritual and temporal worlds in African societies. She displayed spiritual gifts from a young age,
which was unsurprising among aristocrats in Kimpasi society. While realizing that she could not
conform to traditional social roles, such as that of a subservient wife, Beatriz actively cultivated
her spiritual gifts for greater social good and waged a war against all forms of greed and jealousy
and its most obvious manifestation, misuse of kindoki, supernatural powers or curses (Thornton

entrance into the political fray. Dona Beatriz grew up among political instability, and by 1703 a
number of religious signs had convinced many people that religious purification would bring about
political stability. Dona Beatriz preached that peace could be achieved only through unification
under one king, guided by devotion to Kongolese Catholic belief. Beatriz s mandate came from St.

Christianity. In the context of the ideological divide and political tensions between the Capuchin

The Battle Of Milne Bay
During World War Two, Australian involvement in battles such as Milne Bay, in the Pacific theatre
during 1942, contributed significantly to the course of the War. intro The Battle of Milne Bay was
fought from August 25 to September 7 and was one of the most vital land battles protecting the
Australian land mass from the Japanese that Australians have ever conducted. Milne Bay is located
on the eastern tail of New Guinea. In May 1942, this area became of interest to senior Allied
officers, when General Douglas MacArthurmade the decision to establish an airbase here, so that
aircraft could control over the eastern seaward approaches. It was in July 1942, that development
of the first airstrips began at Milne Bay. Australian infantry and American engineers were sent to
begin clearing land for the airstrips and the base here would support them. During the following
weeks, more ships with men arrived, also bringing more supplies and equipment for base
development. The objective of the Allieswas to maintain these land positions from Japanese hold as
quoted; Much like the Japanese base at Sanananda a large proportion of the Allies at Milne Bay
were devoted to non combat tasks; building, maintaining and supplying the base and its most
important component, the airfield .http://kokoda.commemoration.gov.au/milne bay/japanese defeat

Theme Of Women In Taming Of The Shrew
Before we go in depth about the play or topic, I will inform you about the time in which in the
play is set. William Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew is set in Padua, Italy in the sixteenth
century. The societal roles of the time were deeply contrasting from those of our modern society.
For women, they were believed to be simple minded beings who were inferior, obedient, and
subordinate to men. Though they were educated, it was not on par with that of men education as
only men could pursue University. A few, perhaps of aristocracy, were even allowed to create
literature but only those that qualified as women text such as translations or religious text.

P.K. Dick s The Minority Report and Steven Spielberg s The Minority Report
Death can occur in four ways. A person can die from a physical illness, viruses and infections. A
person can die from an accident. A person can commit suicide. Finally a person can be murdered
by another person. What if murders could be prevented? In P.K. Dicks story The Minority Report,
and in Spielberg s film The Minority Report, the future can be altered by using incredible
technology. The success of Spielberg s adaptation of Dick s short story to film can be determined
by the way each was presented.

The Minority Report by Spielberg is about a one man conspiracy to keep pre crime up and
running. In the book by Dick, there is a larger conspiracy to destroy precrime. The final results
are opposite as well; in the book precrime was maintained and still operational. In the movie,
precrime was shut down and destroyed. The methods of precrime are also different. In the book,
there are three precogs which mutter an indecipherable language, which a machine interprets
into images of a murder. Then a card comes out of the machine with the name of the killer and
name of the victim on it. Spielberg made a more modern method out of this. In the movie,
images are taken directly from the three precogs brain and then interpreted by a person who
tries to find out the location of the murder. Also there are two wooden balls made, one with the
name of the killer and the other with the name of the victim, on them. The movie also goes
deeper into the creation of precrime, how crack babies whom had an odd gift/curse of dreaming
of murder became used to prevent murder. It also shows why Anderton joined precrime, to make
sure no one else would suffer like he did when he lost his son. The precogs in the book and
movie are very different. First off their names in the book are Donna, Jerry and Mike. In the movie
their names are Agatha, Arthur and Dashiell. The movie also involves the precogs, or at least one
of them, more into the story.

Montaigne And St. Augustine s Confessions
Montaigne and St. Augustine s views of happiness and the self are both very compelling and
indicative of the times of which they were living. If both Montaigne and St. Augustine were to
converse today, it would be apparent that there would be a bit of clashing between their unique
methods of applying human logic to achieve a higher level of understanding of daily events and the
environment around them. St. Augustine uses a linear, dogmatic technique to emphasize one s sins
while still glorifying God, and Montaigne with a more fluid, skeptical, unbiased approach through
personal reflection. These two distinct ways of perceiving the self and higher order understanding
are apparent in Montaigne s Essays and St. Augustine s narrative Confessions.... Show more content

Augustine was born in northern Africa portion of the Roman Empire in 354, a time of which
Catholicism was not a prominent feature of Roman society and of which had failed to make an
impression on Augustine until he was in his early thirties (45 6 B). He was quite an intellectual
as he became a professor and taught grammar and was well versed in Latin. Augustine s
intelligence is apparent in the systematic progression of his autobiography Confessions as he
looks back at his past self from a child to an adult in his upper forties with a new higher order
perception of the self. Augustine uses God as a method of conversion from egocentricity to a
more God central view in his depiction of reasonless theft simply because I loved the evil in me
(52 B) and further shows the transition in his thinking by his realization that the pears we stole
were beautiful for they were created by Thee, Thou most Beautiful of all (53 B). By writing as a
new person looking at their past self that was susceptible to lust, theft, and all kinds of sins,
Augustine is able to convey the idea that the self is able to change at a fixed moment, and that the
defining point of the self is the memory and grace

our first and foremost priority should be evacuation and containment of contamination. For this task
all four militarybranches and the coast guard are equipped and willing to asset in these two tasks;
however some of the military bases in the region must be evacuated first so that they may return to

Happy you, Hester, that wear the scarlet letter openly upon your bosom! Mine burns in secret!
Thou little knowest what a relief it is, after the torment of a seven years cheat, to look into an eye
that recognizes me for what I am! (Hawthorne 131). The inner torment seen within Dimmesdale
reflected the weight of his sin emphasized by the Puritan culture. The social constructs created and
withheld by the Puritans lead to the demise of one character, and the awakening of another in The
Scarlet Letter. The utilization of the symbolic scarlet letter and portrayal of the effects of secret sin
on human nature, allowed Hawthorne to effectively create a historically accurate novel which

Hawthorne uses the setting of Puritan New England to show that an individual or a nation cannot

The trial was long and was delayed numerous times due to Kunstler s busy schedule with other

abundance of evidence shown throughout the trial among which was the ballistics test. These test
showed that of the five shots that Skagen endured only two were from Richardson s gun. After a

Arts 8 1/26/15 Introduction Gary Zammit Doctor 12 years in the Sleep Disorder Institute (SDI)
in NYC. 5:30 6:00 January 28, 2015. Telephone interview Gary is a CEO and leading expert in
sleep disorders. 1) Are there any new technologies that can prevent or treat sleepwalking? I am
not aware of any new technologies that are available to prevent or treat sleepwalking. There are
some different forms of sleepwalking. Sleepwalking occurs in very deep sleep early in the
night, and some of it is disorganized. There are other forms of sleepwalking that are more
organized and have a purpose. For example, sleep eating is a disorder when people get out of bed
and consume food during their sleep. But for all of those various forms of sleepwalking, we do
not have any new or novel technologies that prevent or treat sleepwalking? 2) Is there a
treatment for this disorder? Well sleepwalking is more common in kids and as children age and
get into their teen years and adulthood, it is more common that sleepwalking goes away by
itself. So it s kind of self limiting for most people but not everyone. For kids and adults who
sleepwalk the best thing to do is to gently guide the sleepwalker back into bed and that is what
takes care of it. Very often, they will stay asleep in bed and that is what takes care of it. So you don

The Velvet Glove Analysis
Benign discrimination
The Velvet Glove written by Jackman (1994) reflects on Sherif et al. s 1961 Summer Camp studies.
Sherif and his colleagues manufactured methods of intergroup hostility that resonated the violence
of intergroup conflict in the real world. They presented that children with no previous history of
hostility or prejudice could promptly acquire several of the hallmarks of prejudice if placed under
the right conditions, including negative stereotyping, voluntary isolation, and verbal and physical
aggression (Dixon et al., 2012). In my opinion, I agree with Dixon et al. (2012) that prejudice can
be learned primarily through unconscious learning that a child obtains and incorporates the
prejudices predominant in his/her society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both HS and BS are manifest in all cultures, where many examples of ambivalent racism are seen in
sports such as The Australian Football League. The most recent example of ambivalent racism is
the Adam Goodes saga. Indigenous players receive a great deal of support and respect, however
when Goodes who was often minimized and diminished because of his skin colour and culture
responded with physical symbolism by performing an Indigenous inspired dance as he celebrated a
goal resulted in racist abuse. A clear case of discrimination, where what felt like the majority of
football supporters, became very hostile against him. The countless patronizing comments as a
result of this left the Indigenous footballer himself standing in the middle of it all, wrestling with
who he is and what he represents. However, if you asked many of these supporters what they
thought of Goodes as a player and his skills as an athlete, many would give a positive evaluation and
describe him as a superstar of the game. Yet this one act of physical symbolism in the heat of the
moment fired up many supporters. Therefore, I am convinced that the time has come to challenge
the assumption that negative evaluations are inevitably the cognitive and affective hallmarks of
discrimination as it has been shown that prejudice can still occur even when dominant groups have
positive feelings towards subordinate groups. This means that prejudice cannot be described as a
negative evaluation of another group member. Jackman who highlighted the contextual specificity
of the Summer Camp findings and challenged the assumption that negative reactions typify
everyday relations in historically unequal societies also supports this

Importance Of Writing Reflection
When I had signed up for this class, I thought it was going to be similar to a humanities course. I
thought that we would be learning about how journaling has evolved and various ways to journal.
As the class progressed, I found it to be more of an art than a humanities class. When this reality
did not match my expectation, I was disappointed. I had to challenge myself to get the most out of
this course by changing my attitude and adjusting my perspective.
As an art class, this would have been an excellent idea and well executed. Being able to learn
about different materials, binding techniques, and adhesives were helpful in the creation of
journals, but it was not what I had expected. One thing that stands out to me was the research
paper, it just did not seem to fit into the class very well. Most of the students did not know how
to use Chicago Style referencing properly and there was not any class time allotted to learning it
nor to working on the essays. It seemed to be used to check a box rather than to help our
understanding. I think that this essay would have fit into the course much better if we had been
spending time in class learning about various historical journalists and how their work impacted the
region in which it was created. It just did not seem as though our homework matched our class
work, so I was a little thrown off. This imbalance was especially apparent because the room was
deemed technology free, so we could not even work on our essays while in class.

Marco Polo s Influence On The World
Marco Polo is a well known heroic travelers and a pool game. Marco Polo was born in 1254 in
Italy. Marco s father and his uncle had traveled to China as merchants. When they left Italy to
return to China, they were chaperoned by Marco Polo and two priests. It is known that he was born
into a leading Italian family of merchants.
Ruled by Kublai Khan, the Mongol Empire stretched all the way from China to Russia. The
Mongol hordes also threatened parts of Europe, especially Poland and Hungary making fear
everywhere by their cruel empire.
In 1269, Niccol and Maffeo Polo arrived back in Italy, where
Niccol found out his wife had died while he was gone. Their son,
Marco, who was only about fifteen years old, had been only six or younger when his father left
home. Marco was reared primarily by his mother and the extended Polo family and the streets of
Venice. After his mother s death, Marco had probably begun to think of himself as something of a
orphan. Then his father and uncle suddenly reappeared, as if from the dead, after nine years of
traveling in far off, romantic lands.
These experiences were the formative influences on young Marco, and one can see their effects
mirrored in his character: a combination of sensitivity and toughness, independence and loyalty,
motivated by an eagerness for adventure, a love of stories.
In 1268, Pope Clement IV died, and a two or three years delay while another pope was being

1970s Fashion
The 1970s was an eventful decade. Many people fought for equality and peace. 1970s fashion
wasn t just clothing, it was showing their voice through the cultural and political times. The many
styles and looks of them showed people s personality and who they are too. The 70s was diverse in
style, makeup, hair, and changed over the years. In the 1970s fashion was multifarious. The main
styles were hippie, bohemian, sporty chic, disco, and a little bit of punk. Hippie style originated
in the 60s, but the style really blossomed in the 70s. Hippies loved the colorful, simple,

Maine Coon are generally regarded as one of the oldest cat breeds in
America. These cats are native to Maine, and are also seen as the State Cat . They get their names
from an old urban legend, saying that it was born through the breeding of a long haired domestic
cat and a racoon, creating a Maine Coon Cat .
Although this is not possible, it s interesting to think about when you see this cat.
Looking at it, you can understand how some people would have gotten that confused. They have
large stocky bodies, thickly furred oval paws (which they would have used to stay walking above
the snow, instead of sinking straight down), and a

They tend to be giant cuddly goofballs, which make them so interesting. Most breeders these
days agree that the Maine Coon is a mix between a long haired domestic cat, and a larger cat from
overseas. One of my favorite theories is that these cats came to America, long before it was an
established colony, from the Vikings. They are built extremely similar to the Norwegian Forest
Cat, which is a relative to the cats Vikings used to have on their ships as mousers.
They tend to hail from the same type of environment, even though they are geographically so far
away. Another theory is that they descended from the long haired cats of Marie Antoinette, who
had plans of fleeing France, and finding some peace in America. She put her cats on a boat, and
was ready to get out. She didn t make it, obviously, but maybe her cats did at some point.

The Idea Of Evolution In A Brave New World
The definition of evolution is a change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations
over successive generations. This is true all around us with developments in many species of
animals and plants as humans shape a new world, but with a topic so broad can one sentence truly
define what happens next in multiple different species. If you dissect this it specifies a heritable
change in a biological population, but what if the next step in life is not technically alive?
Over the years we have grown from microscopic organisms to a species with superior mental
development, articulated speech and have even managed to spread ourselves across Earth. We
have done what was previously thought impossible by being able to edit our own genetics and
even program robots to do simple everyday tasks for us. The real question is what is our next step,
every step of evolution so far from australopithecus to our current form of humans we have
advanced and grown to become a smarter version of our previous selves and in doing so eliminated
multiple competing species. To advance from our current beings we most likely have three options.
Those options include changing our own DNA enough( both overall population and in the amount
of change) that we are turned into a new species or we could be replaced/ overthrown by a new
generation of artificial intelligence that is smarter than us. The last option is mass extinction by
either a worldwide natural disaster or the process of exhausting

Microscopic Hair Analysis Cases
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the FBI, the Innocence Project, and the National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), over 90 percent of all microscopic hair
analysis cases performed by scientists working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation have turned
up with erroneous statements. 26 out of 28 analysts provided false testimony or incorrect
information was submitted on laboratory reports during trials (Cates, Dominguez, Kortan, Pierce,
2015). Cases that had not had mitochondrial DNA in their time have falsely accused and/or
wrongfully convicted victims due to the misinterpretation of data caused by an agent trying to
corroborate evidence whether it was their personal choice or by someone who is of a higher rank.
The lab analysts would corroborate evidence by trying to make certain information fit into trial or
by simply trying to pinpoint a crimeon a defendant due to their bias. In each of those cases, an FBI
agent lied under... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many jurisdictions still only rely on microscopic hair analysis and prefer not to use
mitochondrial DNA as a method for testing evidence because it is said to be too expensive and is
not thorough enough. What many people forget is that not one specific method of testing evidence
is 100 percent accurate. There have been errors made in fingerprint identification, bite mark
analysis, and in microscopic hair comparisons, just like the FBI have made. According to a review
article done by the FBI, they have developed and implemented mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)
analysis in conjunction with probative hair analysis because it is the most effective protocol for the
forensic examination of hair, and it provides a more meaningful association than either technique
used alone (FBI/DOJ Microscopic Hair Comparison Analysis Review,

The Ancient Greek Chorus Influence On Modern Theatre
Referred to as the mouthpiece of society and morality , (E. Karayannakos, The Actors and The
Chorus, 2007), the Ancient Greek chorus used a range of vocal techniques and elements, which
have influenced and shaped western theatre as it is today (M. Mendenhall, Greek Theatre
Influences on Modern Theatre, 2012). From 7th Century BC to 4th Century BC, Greek choruses
are particularly renowned for their approach in engaging the audience with the context of a play. (B.
Simpson, Development of Greek Theatre, 2007), Specifically, vocal techniques played a main role
in this engagement (A. Thompson, The Ancient Greek Chorus and Elements of Choral Speaking,
2012) and are why this investigation is focused upon them. Primary data was collected through an...

Antigone believes that humanity or natural laws have priority over Creon s laws and disobeys his
instructions accordingly. Her pride ensures that she will die rather than renounce her beliefs,
thereby bringing further tragedy to other characters (J. Jennings, Summary of Antigone, 2011).
Antigone is a tragic play about defiance, law, death and love (B. Honig, Antigone Interrupted, 2013,
pg. 6). These elements make Antigone one of the most tragic plays in Ancient Greek Theatre as
multiple deaths of main characters occur within the traditional texts. In order to convey these
elements the chorus had a vital role in the process of the play. In Antigone , the chorus at times
would directly affect the action on. The chorus would interact with the actors on stage physically,
and through text which aloud a personal link and connection with the audience on stage (R.
Shoutez, The Function of The Chorus, 2010). Artistic Director, Howard Jenson from The Indiana
University states: In Classical Greek plays, the chorus IS the main character. (H. Jenson, Artistic
Director, Indiana University Directing Greek Theatre, 2011) which supports the statement of the
importance of the chorus within Ancient Greek

Personal Reflection Of Personal Ethics In The Classroom
I am one of the numerous amount of students enrolled in your class and most likely, you have no
idea who I am. I am hopeful that this letter will apprise you about my personality, work ethic, and
other characteristics.
When I was younger, I enjoyed being constantly active; whether that be hanging off the couch
while watching T.V. or running around my house yelling incoherent phrases to drive my mother
insane, I did it all. One day, I stumbled upon a video of a girl teaching the viewer how to do a skill
named the back handspring (a skill where you push off from an upright standing position into
vertical back onto your feet to complete a full rotation). In awe, it inspired me to attempt it
myself, until I realized it took a lot more to flip backwards and expect to land on your hands
without falling onto your face. I can recall myself watching a plethora of these varieties of videos
in where people demonstrated how to do different certain skills. I would be fascinated by the idea
that you can maneuver your body to do tricks that most people would not dare to attempt. Not long
after that, I begged to try out and, to my amazement, ended up making it into what would become
my gymnastics team.
When I first began, I was not prepared for the amount of work that was required of the individual,
both physically and mentally. I remember the first practice I attended was one of my most
exhausting. Being a newcomer to such an intense sport, it allowed many, many mistakes. The quote

Low Voter Turnout In Canada
Historically Canadians have been participating less in elections for many years. The highest
turnout rate was 79.4% in 1958. The 2011 elections was the first in many years in which Canadians
were concerned enough to go vote, 61.4% participated which shows an increase from the 2008
elections in which only 59.1% participated.
The decline in voter turnout is mostly awarded to the younger generations. They represent the
category of people that participate the least in elections. During the 2011 elections, 38.8% of
people aged 18 to 24 voted, which is an augmentation from the 37.8% in the 2008 elections
(Barnes, Andre, and Erin Virgint, 2010). After a study done by elections Canada, it was showed
that the new generations of voters are less likely to exercise that right today, than they would have
some years ago Only a third of first time voters today are actually voting, half the rate of a
generation ago. ( Ibbitson, John, 2011) Another reason for the turnout decline could be awarded to
the lack of interest; Statistics Canada did a poll in which they asked people who had not voted
why they had done so, and 28% said ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Australia, the voter turnout is approximately 94% of the citizens who are registered vote. But
while people vote, a lot are not happy with the system Paula Mathewson a political insider and
commenter said on the system The idea that high voter turnout based on compulsory voting
translates into a politically engaged electorate is nonsensical. If we moved to a voluntary system,
with the level of disenchantment and disengaged voters we have now, no one would vote (Beck,
Katie, 2013). Internet voting has had success in countries like Estonia (Arthur, Charles, 2014).They
have been using E voting for municipal elections, and while it works for small elections, there are
still many flaws to Internet voting. The Internet is too easily

Vertical Integration Walmart
Vertical integration is a business growth strategy for economics of scale. It is typified by one firm
engaged in different parts of production example; growing raw materials, manufacturing,
transporting, marketing, and/or retailing to expand business in existing market for the firm. It can
function in two directions both forward integration and backward integration.
In Forward integration involves company to develop strategy to control the firm product
distribution either through distribution centers or retailers. It is a necessary action when companies
have potential benefits from handling, shipping of their own products directly to customers, or the
retail selling their own products in brand stores.
In backward integration involves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having strong presence in the retail industry, the firm expanded business to offer second hand car.
The firm leverage on its competencies to provide its own product to consumer. Also, Wal Mart
works heavily with its suppliers. This symbiotic relationship can be seen as vertical integration due
to the level at which Wal Mart analyses its suppliers and improves their manufacturing processes.
Wal Mart definitely has the business strategy of Low Cost Leadership. They do nothing to really
differentiate themselves from competitors and provide no frills self service stores that always
provide the lowest prices. Wal Mart has built enough clout with suppliers that they can dictate the
prices and go in and change suppliers manufacturing processes in order to wring out more and more
savings for the consumer.
However, it is not always the case that all firms should develop vertical integration strategy to
enjoy economic of scale. Firm like boutique or niche items that produces on a small scale are not
suitable to implement as it will benefit less from vertically integrated mainly because the input
demand for grow is small and due to exclusive nature their prices are inelastic as compare to
industry like Oil and Gas Industry, Telecom, Media, automobile developed vertical integration
strategy .
The main advantage of the vertical integration is the increased control. For instance, Wal Mart with
large market share is attractive to supplier. Though

data for analysis. Audits from QI projects are uploaded into the EBI portal monthly. Reports are
sent to project managers to evaluate and then communicate with nursing leaders. This
communication provides whether the QI activity is successful or not. In the case that it is not
successful, the nurse manager can meet with staff members to discuss the report and obtain input
on how to improve the process. Input from the nursing staff can support further exploration of
possible interventions to improve indicated processes (Stausmire Ulrich,

Arguments For Bilingual Education
Over the years, bilingual education has involved teaching children academics in two different
languages so they may become competent learners and be successful at acquiring English. Before
1968, bilingual education was not a required course in American schools, but instead as a voluntary
program. This changed in 1981 when a lawsuit was brought against the state of Texas that resulted
in the requirement of bilingual educationprograms in elementary schools as English as a second
language(ESL) program, bilingual programs in post elementary grades through eighth grade, and
ESL programs in high school. This type of education has been a hot topic for the state governments
of the United States, debating whether to keep in the curriculum of schools. Many asking
themselves, why should we to provide bilingual educationfor these students? What will students
gain from this type of education? Studies have shown there are benefits that range from cognitive
ability, educational advancement, to employment opportunities with a bilingual education, while
the critics label it as a failed experiment that costed a whole lot of money and years to maintain a
basic foundation in the second language. Although the cost is hefty for this exploration of a new
language and is time consuming, the cognitive abilities, educational advancement, and employment
opportunities greatly outweigh these opposing factors.
One of the biggest opposing factors against bilingual education has been money,

  • 2. The Role of Fate in Macbeth Fate has sundry meanings. One of the meanings of fate: power that predetermines events. Destiny s definition suggests that events will occur and do not change. Whatever unravels in life cannot change by mankind. The statement has undivulged meanings; fate has the opportunity to change if the person wants events to end differently. However, wrong decisions will only seal fate. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, The fate becomes confirmed through Lady Macbeth wanting more power, Macbeth s inner conflict, and the three witches tricking Macbeth and leading him to his demise. The witches give Macbeth prophecies that come true; but do not always work out right. The witches are talking about the confusion they will make Fair is foul, and foul is fair.... She tries to teach him how to become unemotional and fearless. All of these commands and actions cause Macbeth to have a war inside of him, leading him to his downfall. Raging inside of Macbeth appears as a war, he does not know how to handle the conflict. While he thinks his actions over, Macbeth says That tears shall drown the wind. The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth In another matter, this is not the first time that climate change has affected the planet in the past there were many problems to the earth millions of years ago. There were five major ice ages from the longest and first scientists believe occurred was two point four to two point one billion years ago during the early Proterozoic Eon there was an ice ageformed and it was the Huronian. The second ice age was the cryogenian and it has been known that it produced a snowball earthin which permanent sea ice extended to or very near the earth s equator; this period occurred from eight hundred and fifty to six hundred and thirty million years ago. Scientists believe the possible causes of the medieval warm period were increase in solar activity, decrease volcanic activity, and change to ocean circulation. After the medieval ended what followed was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the eighteen seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder winters than during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows in solar radiation, heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth s orbit, and axial tilt, inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population these just the few reasons why the little ice age was formed. Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans them selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter temperatures will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and other animals. The effects of major heat waves recorded in the past were very excruciating like the one in Western Europe during the summer of 2003 which hunted the crop yield deeply. Also in 2003 Italy was affected by a big heat wave where a maze yield feel by 36%. • 4. The Aging Process And Key Diseases Associated With Aging This paper will discuss the relationship between the aging process and key diseases associated with aging. Examples of aging associated diseases include cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases (LГіpez OtГn, Blasco, Partridge, Serrano, Kroemer, 2013, p. 1194). Of these, we will discuss in depth recent studies that have linked aging with Alzheimer s disease, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. These diseases affect a significant proportion of the population over the age of 65 and place a considerable burden on the American health care system. Therefore, a better understanding of how they are related to aging and each other can result in the adoption of innovative treatments and declined risk for older adults. In order to better understand aging associated diseases, it is first necessary to define what aging is. Aging is a complex, multifactorial process of harmful mutations in cells and tissues that are accumulated over time and result in an increased risk of disease and, eventually, death(Tosato, Zamboni, Ferrini, Cesari, 2007, p. 401). Contrary to the belief that aging can be cured through medical advances, it is scientifically accepted that, while human life expectancy has increased, the human life span has remained largely unchanged for the past 100,000 years (Tosato et al., p. 401). Therefore, future developments in aging research ought to focus on addressing treatment and prevention of major aging associated diseases that will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pride And Prejudice Narrative Analysis Jane Austen was and still is a very accomplished writer from the nineteenth century. The question I am going to answer asks about Austen s narrative techniques and how they contribute to the overall meaning of the novel. Pride and Prejudice is written at a time of contemporary historical change in the world and yet Austen writes a novel where the main man changes his manners and a young lady changes her mind. (Tanner 103). I am going to focus on her extensive archive of narrative techniques specifically in chapter one of her novel, Pride and Prejudice, to show these changes. • 7. A Modest Proposal Analysis Essay A Modest Proposal Literary Analysis By J J Mr. H Period 6 2 May 2011 Jonathan Swift s Use of Satire and Exaggeration Satire is a form of literature in which an author tries to demonstrate his or her point of view by ridiculing. The author uses heavy irony and sarcasm in order to criticize a social issue. A perfect example of a work of satireis Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal. In this satirical essay, Jonathan Swift attacks on the issue of the Irish poverty in the 1700s. One example is when he states that a child just born will weigh twelve pounds, and in a solar year, if tolerably nursed, will increase to twenty eight pounds (804). By giving infants a set of instructions and guidelines, in analogy to livestock, Swift tries to make it seem as if he has no emotional attachment to the Irish children. When Swift is describing the use of children as commodities, it is ironic because his intentions are to actually explain that the English view the whole Irish population as commodities. The English landlords are the ones responsible for Ireland s poverty. The essay shows, through sarcasm, that the English have purposely took everything from the Irish because they view them as commodities. One example of sarcasm used to portray that idea is that the utilization of infants will be proper for landlords, who, as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children (804). It is very apparent that Swift blames the English for Ireland s problems. He also blames the Irish Catholics that allowed English policy to break down Ireland. The essay illustrates that the greed filled English have taken away everything from the Irish. This includes their material things such as their money, their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teachers that have tenure can t be fired from their duty unless for worthwhile motivation, for example, serious wrongdoing or inadequacy, and still, at the end of the day ending the tenurecan be to a great degree troublesome. In those days, political gathering in office or a racial or individual inclination could get consummately great instructors sacked; tenure was made to guarantee that educators didn t experience the ill effects of the whimsical activities of administrators. Tenure is conceivably oppressive towards the poorest educated pupils in our community as tenured educators with long service status (and in this manner the most experience) are probably going to work in the least demanding schools, leaving schools in poor and denied territories to more youthful, less experienced instructors. 100 years back before modern edge legislation gave rise to equal rights and employment protection tenure had its place in the teaching system. The movie depicts a time period when drug use / abuse, and violence was very prevalent at Eastside High the inner city high schools in Paterson New Jersey. Eastside HS having these challenges created a societal view of low expectations for the students that attended the school. The students that attended the high school were predominately African American and Latinos, and because of their race they were considered minority groups with low social economic status and/ or expectations. Throughout the movie the diversity of race, and social economic statuses were factors mentioned. Another important factor that the movie only touched on slightly was the challenges with crack cocaine. The 80 s was an era when crack cocaine was introduced to the inner city communities, causing much destruction to the foundation of families that had members that indulged in its use. This caused the lack of parent engagement and support systems for youths. Many of the youths in the movie was raising themselves, which included finding the means to support their and/ or their family s basic everyday needs such as: food, clothing, and shelter. Resilienceis the ability to remain positive in the face of adversity, which is not the same as not having distress or denying it (Music, 2011). Developing this capacity relies on protective factors within individuals as well as in the family and community. The Intersection of Religion and Politics in 17th 19th Century Africa The stories of Dona Beatriz, Uthman dan Fodio, and Guimba the Tyrant present three cases in which religion and politics overlapped in different ways and to varying degrees. These three individuals lived in distinct historical contexts and had unique religious trainings, sources of spiritual power, track records as religious and political authorities, goals for reshaping the religious and political landscape of their regions, reputations among their contemporaries, and obstacles with which to contend. Accordingly, Dona Beatriz was trained as a nganga marinda, an intermediary between the spiritual and temporal worlds in African societies. She displayed spiritual gifts from a young age, which was unsurprising among aristocrats in Kimpasi society. While realizing that she could not conform to traditional social roles, such as that of a subservient wife, Beatriz actively cultivated her spiritual gifts for greater social good and waged a war against all forms of greed and jealousy and its most obvious manifestation, misuse of kindoki, supernatural powers or curses (Thornton 110). Her attacks on individuals, most notably some Capuchin missionaries, preceded her martial entrance into the political fray. Dona Beatriz grew up among political instability, and by 1703 a number of religious signs had convinced many people that religious purification would bring about political stability. Dona Beatriz preached that peace could be achieved only through unification under one king, guided by devotion to Kongolese Catholic belief. Beatriz s mandate came from St. Anthony, who took up residence in her body and revealed truths about the Kongolese origins of Christianity. The Battle Of Milne Bay During World War Two, Australian involvement in battles such as Milne Bay, in the Pacific theatre during 1942, contributed significantly to the course of the War. intro The Battle of Milne Bay was fought from August 25 to September 7 and was one of the most vital land battles protecting the Australian land mass from the Japanese that Australians have ever conducted. Milne Bay is located on the eastern tail of New Guinea. In May 1942, this area became of interest to senior Allied officers, when General Douglas MacArthurmade the decision to establish an airbase here, so that aircraft could control over the eastern seaward approaches. It was in July 1942, that development of the first airstrips began at Milne Bay. Australian infantry and American engineers were sent to begin clearing land for the airstrips and the base here would support them. During the following weeks, more ships with men arrived, also bringing more supplies and equipment for base development. The Minority Report by Spielberg is about a one man conspiracy to keep pre crime up and running. In the book by Dick, there is a larger conspiracy to destroy precrime. In the book, there are three precogs which mutter an indecipherable language, which a machine interprets into images of a murder. Then a card comes out of the machine with the name of the killer and name of the victim on it. Spielberg made a more modern method out of this. In the movie, images are taken directly from the three precogs brain and then interpreted by a person who tries to find out the location of the murder. Also there are two wooden balls made, one with the name of the killer and the other with the name of the victim, on them. The movie also goes deeper into the creation of precrime, how crack babies whom had an odd gift/curse of dreaming of murder became used to prevent murder. It also shows why Anderton joined precrime, to make sure no one else would suffer like he did when he lost his son. The precogs in the book and movie are very different. If both Montaigne and St. Augustine were to converse today, it would be apparent that there would be a bit of clashing between their unique methods of applying human logic to achieve a higher level of understanding of daily events and the environment around them. St. Augustine uses a linear, dogmatic technique to emphasize one s sins while still glorifying God, and Montaigne with a more fluid, skeptical, unbiased approach through personal reflection. Telephone interview Gary is a CEO and leading expert in sleep disorders. 1) Are there any new technologies that can prevent or treat sleepwalking? I am not aware of any new technologies that are available to prevent or treat sleepwalking. There are some different forms of sleepwalking. Sleepwalking occurs in very deep sleep early in the night, and some of it is disorganized. There are other forms of sleepwalking that are more organized and have a purpose. For example, sleep eating is a disorder when people get out of bed and consume food during their sleep. But for all of those various forms of sleepwalking, we do not have any new or novel technologies that prevent or treat sleepwalking? 2) Is there a treatment for this disorder? Well sleepwalking is more common in kids and as children age and get into their teen years and adulthood, it is more common that sleepwalking goes away by itself. So it s kind of self limiting for most people but not everyone. For kids and adults who sleepwalk the best thing to do is to gently guide the sleepwalker back into bed and that is what takes care of it. Sherif and his colleagues manufactured methods of intergroup hostility that resonated the violence of intergroup conflict in the real world. They presented that children with no previous history of hostility or prejudice could promptly acquire several of the hallmarks of prejudice if placed under the right conditions, including negative stereotyping, voluntary isolation, and verbal and physical aggression (Dixon et al., 2012). In my opinion, I agree with Dixon et al. The most recent example of ambivalent racism is the Adam Goodes saga. Indigenous players receive a great deal of support and respect, however when Goodes who was often minimized and diminished because of his skin colour and culture responded with physical symbolism by performing an Indigenous inspired dance as he celebrated a goal resulted in racist abuse. A clear case of discrimination, where what felt like the majority of football supporters, became very hostile against him. The countless patronizing comments as a result of this left the Indigenous footballer himself standing in the middle of it all, wrestling with who he is and what he represents. However, if you asked many of these supporters what they thought of Goodes as a player and his skills as an athlete, many would give a positive evaluation and describe him as a superstar of the game. Yet this one act of physical symbolism in the heat of the moment fired up many supporters. Therefore, I am convinced that the time has come to challenge the assumption that negative evaluations are inevitably the cognitive and affective hallmarks of discrimination as it has been shown that prejudice can still occur even when dominant groups have positive feelings towards subordinate groups. This means that prejudice cannot be described as a negative evaluation of another group member. They are built extremely similar to the Norwegian Forest Cat, which is a relative to the cats Vikings used to have on their ships as mousers. They tend to hail from the same type of environment, even though they are geographically so far away. Another theory is that they descended from the long haired cats of Marie Antoinette, who had plans of fleeing France, and finding some peace in America. She put her cats on a boat, and was ready to get out. She didn t make it, obviously, but maybe her cats did at some point. These cats are built by nature, so they are naturally healthy. They may ... • 39. The Idea Of Evolution In A Brave New World The definition of evolution is a change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generations. This is true all around us with developments in many species of animals and plants as humans shape a new world, but with a topic so broad can one sentence truly define what happens next in multiple different species. If you dissect this it specifies a heritable change in a biological population, but what if the next step in life is not technically alive? Over the years we have grown from microscopic organisms to a species with superior mental development, articulated speech and have even managed to spread ourselves across Earth. We have done what was previously thought impossible by being able to edit our own genetics and even program robots to do simple everyday tasks for us. The real question is what is our next step, every step of evolution so far from australopithecus to our current form of humans we have advanced and grown to become a smarter version of our previous selves and in doing so eliminated multiple competing species. To advance from our current beings we most likely have three options. Those options include changing our own DNA enough( both overall population and in the amount of change) that we are turned into a new species or we could be replaced/ overthrown by a new generation of artificial intelligence that is smarter than us. The last option is mass extinction by either a worldwide natural disaster or the process of exhausting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Microscopic Hair Analysis Cases According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the FBI, the Innocence Project, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), over 90 percent of all microscopic hair analysis cases performed by scientists working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation have turned up with erroneous statements. 26 out of 28 analysts provided false testimony or incorrect information was submitted on laboratory reports during trials (Cates, Dominguez, Kortan, Pierce, 2015). Cases that had not had mitochondrial DNA in their time have falsely accused and/or wrongfully convicted victims due to the misinterpretation of data caused by an agent trying to corroborate evidence whether it was their personal choice or by someone who is of a higher rank. The lab analysts would corroborate evidence by trying to make certain information fit into trial or by simply trying to pinpoint a crimeon a defendant due to their bias. Many jurisdictions still only rely on microscopic hair analysis and prefer not to use mitochondrial DNA as a method for testing evidence because it is said to be too expensive and is not thorough enough. What many people forget is that not one specific method of testing evidence is 100 percent accurate. There have been errors made in fingerprint identification, bite mark analysis, and in microscopic hair comparisons, just like the FBI have made. According to a review article done by the FBI, they have developed and implemented mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis in conjunction with probative hair analysis because it is the most effective protocol for the forensic examination of hair, and it provides a more meaningful association than either technique used alone (FBI/DOJ Microscopic Hair Comparison Analysis Review, ... • 41. The Ancient Greek Chorus Influence On Modern Theatre Referred to as the mouthpiece of society and morality , (E. Karayannakos, The Actors and The Chorus, 2007), the Ancient Greek chorus used a range of vocal techniques and elements, which have influenced and shaped western theatre as it is today (M. Mendenhall, Greek Theatre Influences on Modern Theatre, 2012). From 7th Century BC to 4th Century BC, Greek choruses are particularly renowned for their approach in engaging the audience with the context of a play. (B. Simpson, Development of Greek Theatre, 2007), Specifically, vocal techniques played a main role in this engagement (A. Thompson, The Ancient Greek Chorus and Elements of Choral Speaking, 2012) and are why this investigation is focused upon them. Primary data was collected through an... Her pride ensures that she will die rather than renounce her beliefs, thereby bringing further tragedy to other characters (J. Jennings, Summary of Antigone, 2011). Antigone is a tragic play about defiance, law, death and love (B. Honig, Antigone Interrupted, 2013, pg. 6). These elements make Antigone one of the most tragic plays in Ancient Greek Theatre as multiple deaths of main characters occur within the traditional texts. In order to convey these elements the chorus had a vital role in the process of the play. In Antigone , the chorus at times would directly affect the action on. The chorus would interact with the actors on stage physically, and through text which aloud a personal link and connection with the audience on stage (R. Shoutez, The Function of The Chorus, 2010). • 42. Personal Reflection Of Personal Ethics In The Classroom I am one of the numerous amount of students enrolled in your class and most likely, you have no idea who I am. I am hopeful that this letter will apprise you about my personality, work ethic, and other characteristics. When I was younger, I enjoyed being constantly active; whether that be hanging off the couch while watching T.V. or running around my house yelling incoherent phrases to drive my mother insane, I did it all. One day, I stumbled upon a video of a girl teaching the viewer how to do a skill named the back handspring (a skill where you push off from an upright standing position into vertical back onto your feet to complete a full rotation). In awe, it inspired me to attempt it myself, until I realized it took a lot more to flip backwards and expect to land on your hands without falling onto your face. I can recall myself watching a plethora of these varieties of videos in where people demonstrated how to do different certain skills. I would be fascinated by the idea that you can maneuver your body to do tricks that most people would not dare to attempt. Not long after that, I begged to try out and, to my amazement, ended up making it into what would become my gymnastics team. When I first began, I was not prepared for the amount of work that was required of the individual, both physically and mentally. I remember the first practice I attended was one of my most exhausting. Being a newcomer to such an intense sport, it allowed many, many mistakes. The quote said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Low Voter Turnout In Canada Historically Canadians have been participating less in elections for many years. The highest turnout rate was 79.4% in 1958. The 2011 elections was the first in many years in which Canadians were concerned enough to go vote, 61.4% participated which shows an increase from the 2008 elections in which only 59.1% participated. The decline in voter turnout is mostly awarded to the younger generations. They represent the category of people that participate the least in elections. During the 2011 elections, 38.8% of people aged 18 to 24 voted, which is an augmentation from the 37.8% in the 2008 elections (Barnes, Andre, and Erin Virgint, 2010). • 47. Arguments For Bilingual Education Over the years, bilingual education has involved teaching children academics in two different languages so they may become competent learners and be successful at acquiring English. Before 1968, bilingual education was not a required course in American schools, but instead as a voluntary program. This changed in 1981 when a lawsuit was brought against the state of Texas that resulted in the requirement of bilingual educationprograms in elementary schools as English as a second language(ESL) program, bilingual programs in post elementary grades through eighth grade, and ESL programs in high school. This type of education has been a hot topic for the state governments of the United States, debating whether to keep in the curriculum of schools. Many asking themselves, why should we to provide bilingual educationfor these students? What will students gain from this type of education? Studies have shown there are benefits that range from cognitive ability, educational advancement, to employment opportunities with a bilingual education, while the critics label it as a failed experiment that costed a whole lot of money and years to maintain a basic foundation in the second language. Although the cost is hefty for this exploration of a new language and is time consuming, the cognitive abilities, educational advancement, and employment opportunities greatly outweigh these opposing factors. One of the biggest opposing factors against bilingual education has been money, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
