Hypothesis
If hatching viability is affected by the amount of motor oil in the environment of the
brine shrimp eggs, then when the amount of motor oil is increased the hatching
viability will decrease.
Experimental Design
The independent variable was the amount of motor oil in 2% salt solution because it
is the variable that was being tested and purposefully manipulated. The dependent
variable was the hatching viability of the brine shrimp tested (which was calculated
by adding the number of brine shrimp swimming at 24 hours to the number of brine
shrimp swimming at 48 hours, and then divided by the total number of eggs initially
placed in the petri dish). The control group was a petri dish of brine shrimp in 30 ml
of 2% salt solution with no motor oil. The constants, or variables that need to be
controlled, were the salinity percentage of the salt solution (2%), the amount of salt
solution in each petri dish (30 ml), the total time the brine shrimp were left in the
petri dishes (48 hours), and the frequency of when the brine shrimp were checked

performed a collection of pieces from different time periods including: The
Classical period, the 20th century period, and the Modern period. All of the pieces,
except for the last piece and the pieces that were not conducted, were conducted by
either Michael Cater, Zack Deininger, Ethan Lolley, or Meghan Miller, who are all
graduate conductors. The first piece performed, Divertimento Fanfare , was written
by Roger Zare. Zare is known for his contemporary chamber and orchestral work. His
musicis inspired by science nature, mathematics, and mythology. Zare uses word
painting to convey and contrast the two ideas in Divertimento Fanfare . The opening
rhythm can be described as consonance and then as the piece progresses, the rhythm
becomes dissonant. The interaction between these two kinds of rhythms builds
tension and energy. The texture of the piece had a main melody and a subordinate
melody, otherwise known as a homophonic texture. The only instruments in this
piece were the trumpet, horn, trombone, and the euphonium (small tuba). The tone
color or timbre of each instrument were all related with one another because all the
instruments were in the brass family. The second piece played was the Overture
and it was written by Kurt Weill. Kurt Weill was born the son of a cantor in Dessau.

Forestry Division (ASFD) found some communication problems but overall declared
the Yarnell Hill Fire a no fault tragedy, focusing largely on the actions of the Granite
Mountain Hotshots who, according to the investigation, made an unknown and last

Filibusters are quite the conundrum, a pariah of sorts in the realm of U.S. politics,
yet an integral part of our body of government. It is imperative that it remains to be
kept alive in a warm embrace with the Senate, lest it is reduced to nothing more
than a mere accessory to the House of Representatives. By nature, the filibuster is
actually a resourceful tactic that utilizes the ideology of free speech to prolong and
create an active dialog over legislation or to prevent a measure from being brought
to a vote. However, in recent years the most unsettling adversity contemporary
legislation faces is Rule XXII of the U.S. Senate. Forty one senators can veto the lion
s share of legislation by refusal of invoking cloture(sixty being the magic number).
Due to the malapportionment of the Senate, less than forty one percent of the
population could be over represented, resulting in a conflicting vote against cloture
sustaining debate indefinitely. The idea of a three fifths vote is being required for
most Senate action can be seen as a modern day thunderstorm that overcasts
democratic self government. The tradition of limitless debate in the Senate needs a
bit of a review (perhaps a judicial one), as a refusal to vote for cloture should result
in a suspension rather than an absolute veto. Simply put, forty one senators should
have the ability to place an extended debate on bills or nominations for a period not
to exceed a year beginning from the time they reach the floor.

30 children between the ages of four and six were interviewed at a preschool. They
were asked questions like: What is a bully? The books were then read to the
students, and following the reading, the students participated in a quick interview
and a visual likert scale to determine their overall feelings toward each book some
