2. Step 1
I started by uploading all the footage I had to premiere pro
so that I could see all the clips I had and experiment with
what ones worked well together.
I made a note of all the clip numbers that I planned on
using initially however from past experience I decided that
uploading all the clips would be useful.

4. Step 2
I then uploaded the first clip of Lizzie in the questioning
room. I though the lighting here was too light for the horror

5. Step 3
Therefore, I decided to dim the color to make the footage more
horror conventional. I did this by adjusting the expose filter and
experimenting with the color wheel to look for better filters.

6. Step 4
In between the two clips of introduction to lizzie and her opening
her eyes, I left a four second gap so that there would be a black
out in between the two clips creating enigma for the audience of
what’s going to happen next. I used the razor tool to cut the close
up clip of lizzie in half so that I could edit the colour effects when
she opens her eyes.

7. Step 5
I used the colour edits to change the colour of Lizzie’s
face when she opens her eyes which creates a horror
effect.

8. Step 6
After fixing the color and special effects of the film, I
decided the clip was too fast, I wanted it to be slower
which would add to the suspense.
In order to do this, I clicked on the ‘clip’ icon at the top of the
screen and then selected the ‘speed/duration’ button. The
speed was 100% and in order to slow the footage down, I
changed it to 70%. This slower clip gave the effect I
wanted.

12. Step 7
I worked on the next shot. The establishing shot, which
transcends into a POV shot of the mystery murderer
edging towards the house, I slowed down the tempo so
that the scene became more sinister and menacing for the
audience. I did this by the same process as the previous
questioning room footage

13. Step 8
I then added another gap between the clips to add the repetitive
blackout pauses to build up the audience enigma. I did this previously
in-between Lizzie’s long shot and Extreme close up.
Likewise for the opening of the door by the murderer, I also slowed the
clip down to add to the conventions of the horror genre.

14. Step 9
I slowed down the clip of Lizzie pushing open the door.
I also added another black out space, to again build the
suspense

15. Step 10
For the over the shoulder shot of Lizzie walking through the house, I
applied a red shade of colour over the entire clip. I did this by going
onto the colour wheel and applying the shade of colour I wanted onto
the clip. I chose to do this as I was inspired from a very unlikely film.

16. The Little Mermaid 2 has a scene where the daughter of
Ariel (Melody) dances with a boy. She later gets
embarrassed and all the people at the ball laugh at her
and the screen gradually turns a pink shade as she grows
embarrassed as people laugh at her. I decided I wanted to
include something similar to this, when Lizzie is about to
kill her father, I made the clip a red shade to symbolize
danger

17. Step 11
In the scenes where Lizzie kills her father and mother, I decided to
speed up these clips. I did this for two reasons. The first reason was
that it contrasts with the slow clips that build the suspension and it
allows the audience to imagine the destruction of what and how Lizzie
killed her parents.
